Twi's Domain

Divinity tossed the remaining piece, the gray hilt, of her katana on the ground next to the pieces of the black blade. Nomad had seemingly disappeared from her melee range as it was transported to its master, but was still on a glass panel somehow. Did he accidentally warp it along? she though silently as her tattered wings beat slowly to keep her off the ground. Looking back at her allies, she noticed the blue screen that seemed to follow her eyesight in whatever way she held her head. "A nuisance appeared..." she muttered as she checked out the blue screen and heard the new Navi's Operator tell his plan. "Your opinion, Area?" Divinity said softly as she took out the ceremonial dagger from her left sheath and started to carve symbols into the blue screen while it seemed to regenerate its parts automatically.

"A daring plan. Could be a total failure or could succeed, depending on the situation," said Area as she tilted her head from left to right and back repeatedly as she thought about the situation in her mind. "I'm afraid that we're going to skip this one..." she muttered as she took a chip out and placed it into her PET. After doing this, she took out a cigarette and held it between her lips while she started to look for her lighter. "You'll know what to do," she muttered as she took out the lighter from her left pouch and lighted her cigarette.

Divinity spun around her knife playfully and started to execute the Bubbler program with the appointed programs, as she started to speak to herself softly. "So it's a small break... Even a warrior needs a break. And we can't risk going on our own..." She formed the bubbler data in her left hand, while holding the dagger with her right hand, and lifted her head to the sky. "Hear my prayer," she started quietly as she brought the Bubbler data to her chest, "Grant me power." She twisted around the dagger so its blade would be pointed downwards and stabbed it into the bubbler data, "Fuse with me." The data dissipated in small bubbles that floated upwards into the air, only to have a beam of blue energy sent down from the sky directly into the cross of her dagger. "I thank thee," she said to praise the spirits' aid. About to sit down on one of her scarfs in a lazy manner, she turned to see a Navi talking to her. "I remember you..." she muttered through her scarf. She listened quietly to his request, pondering about it for a few seconds. Wanting to deny it immediately, she had to take her words back before throwing them out as Area's voice rang out.

"Do it," Area said as she puffed out a cloud of smoke, "It ought to be interesting... While we were planning to do nothing, why not learn about teamwork... His technique may be valuable to us on a later date." Taking out a chip, she plugged it into her PET and nodded at her screen. "The other program was installed succesfully. It took some time, but... It worked. I need to update the OS, I think... The one Persephone gave is kind of outdated... And it's showing some annoying blue screen constantly..."

"Persephone," muttered the angelic Navi under her breath and turned towards the wannabe courageous Navi before her with squinted eyes while tilting her head so the blue screen wouldn't impede her sight at him. "I'll help for now... But after this, you're on your own," she said as she landed on the ground and walked around him to get to his back, "Execute your idea as quick as possible, got it?" Holding her body against Seraphim's back, she locked her arms with his and executed the new program. "Hold on tight... This'll get... Fast," she said as two extra scarfs sprouted from the part around her neck. The scarfs formed fearsome looking wings, somehow growing in size as well. Divinity moved her head next to Seraphim's head and whispered softly, "There we go." Not even taking a second, she disappeared from sight with Seraphim and only the quick beating of her tattered wings could be heard as the two were suspended in the air by Divinity's FloatShoes program.

Almost at the same time the two had disappeared they had already reappeared behind the so-called Twi as Area managed to guide Divinity's path of flight. "Go," she whispered, her head still close to Seraphim's and took her arms away from his quickly so he could execute his plan as fast as possible. Giving him a slight push to get him away from her, she immediately disappeared again and reappeared at the so-called gun some Navi had placed down previously.

"What the... Area?" Divinity muttered as she looked at the gun and the Navi it belonged to, "I did not sign up for this..."

"You didn't sign up for anything," stated Area as she slotted in another chip, "Add that to their power. It shouldn't be hard, it's right in front of your feet." Just as Area's words had ended, she found the same blue screen on her PET again and pressed the buttons to get it away again while knowing it'd appear as soon as it was gone. What is wrong with her attitude all of a sudden... Area tought as kept removing the blue screens, ...I don't like blue.

Holding up her dagger again, she noticed a green energy within the cross that was on its design and sighed. "Sure sure. It's not like I've got do anything similar to labor," Divinity said with a dull tone and held the dagger out towards the gun. "Transmitting energy," she continued and a beam of green light entered the cannon within a split second. As she transmitted the energy, she started to think about the execution of the attack they'd pull off eventually. "Just be sure to strike him," she muttered as she waved away a blue screen away. "What is this contraption anyway? Some... Special Beam Cannon?" she said, almost joking about it entirely. Taking a few steps away from the cannon, she kneeled down on the ground and looked at the battle ensueing in front of her while waving the rotten blue screens away the second they popped up again. "At least they're not as horrible as porn ads..." Divinity added, squinting her eyes and decided to just figure out what kind of sites Area actually checked in her free time.

Runeknight was annoyed. He had managed to regain access to one of his spells, but it had little effect against the purple Navi. To top off his ineffectiveness, he was now blinded by a large blue screen that had appeared within his visor. There was little he would be able to do in such a situation and he disliked feeling so useless.

"Sire," He called. "I seem to be blinded."

"Yeah," Zan responded. "I see it. One of the other NetOps has identified it as a temporary pop-up program designed to lower your accuracy. He's also found a way to maybe get around it. I want you to move toward that new arrival and hand over a couple of weapons."

"As you say, Sire."

Runeknight wasn't quite sure what was going on, but he was not going to argue. He moved toward the Navi that had arrived a few moments before, a large blue Navi of intricate mechanical design. He could feel the energy of his Lord's weapons surging through him and he marveled at their strength. He wished he could wield them himself, but he knew that there was a good chance he would miss his target. He moved to the large blue Navi.

"Well met. I am Runeknight. I believe I am to hand over a few weapons for your use?"

Runeknight reached out his hand, the energy from his Lord's BattleChips passing from him and into the massive cannon that the blue Navi was wielding. The energy surged through in a cobalt wave, empowering the cannon with his strength.

His mission done, Runeknight prepared himself to dodge and wait out the blue screen that interrupted his vision.

Jared became tense... The data from everyone else in the team was loaded.... Jared quickly slotted in three of their battlechips The expanded memory of the P.E.T. was in full use... "Alright, Broadside. The data's loaded, and I've slotted in both Magbolt1's and our Elecreel1. How are you holding up?"

"All systems nominal. Current war potential at 320%, and climbi--" He was interrupted once more...

You understood? Good, then I'll help you one more time....

As the random thought ended, the data was shunted out of the gun, and into Broadside's system core.... Then shunted outward once again...

This took only a moment... "Correction: Current war potential is now at 700% and holding. Permission to re-calibrate my weaponry before firing?" Even as he asked... the process had already begun.

J.T. looked a little confused... "Uhh... sure. Do whatever you need to. But remember to set-up the controls for Pianissimo."

"Affirmative" As he responded, the double joysticks came to life, wiggling a bit in an obvious test mode, then lit green at the base and tips... Broadside's antennas then rotated from their rest position, and pointed directly forward, projecting a quartet of range-finder targeting lasers... The trigger grips on the controls glowed red, signifying a live weapon...

...It was in Pianissimo's hands now.

((Pianissimo actually fires it. My next post will be the attack summary.))
"Quite an arsenal we've got here," Pianissimo said as everyone loaded their chips. "Now...how do I..." but before he could figure out how to operate Broadside, something else caught his attention. Divinity had just teleported Seraphim behind Twi. "Oh for the love of...what the hell is the gamer nerd planning?" he asked, watching Seraphim for a second. If he does what I think he's going to do, we're just going to end up shooting him as well. There's no way that'll end well, especially since he thinks he's the "main character". Pianissimo sighed. To blast Seraphim as well or call it off. In his normal form, the choice would have been obvious...

Looks like I still have no choice. If we don't stop him now, we're probably all dead. Besides, the idiot will probably think it's some cutscene where he has to sacrifice himself. he said again, turning his attention back to the controls. Now, back to trying to figure this thing out. Pianissimo looked at the controls for a moment, but couldn't make heads or tails of most of it. "This thing really needs a user manual. Or maybe even a tutorial program," he said, sighing.

Then, the controls sprang to life on their own. Or that could happen, thought Pianissimo, placing both hands on the double joysticks. He moved his fingers to the trigger grips, then let the targeting scanners in his visor activate. An array of bright dots flowed across the surface, as though part of a datastream, before congregating in two points, floating above where Pianissimo's eyes were.

From inside, the usual data on the target displayed itself. Name, remaining HP, and basic attack info, not that the latter had helped thus far. It also showed a red outline of Twi, perfectly clear, burned against the blue of the screen preventing him from seeing clearly normally. This would help tremendously.

Pianissimo directed the targeting lasers into the red outline of his opponent. It wouldn't be perfect, but it would certainly be more effective than attacking blindly. "Remember," Duke's voice came over the radio connection. "As Red said, aim for the purple."

"There's no purple to aim for, Duke. Just a red outline. Thanks for the initiative, though." He turned his full attention back towards Twi. Targeting system still holding...good. Seraphim...well, no time to worry about what he's planning anymore. Hopefully it'll give me a better chance at hitting him with everything. Wings out of the way so they won't mess up my operation of this thing...good. "Everything's ready, then. Ready to fire."

Pianissimo placed his fingers back on the trigger grips, then, continuing to glare directly at Twi, said, in a cold, faint, yet perfectly audible voice..."You are about to die. Scream if you must."

Pianissimo squeezed both triggers as far as they would go.

((4. Pull trigger to unleash ownage. (Accuracy boost from RedEyes)))
Seraphim barely listened to the other, just hearing "I'll help for now...- After this- on your own." And that was how he would have it, tormented by his own little illusions, rather than the mass hallucinatory effect everyone else was experiencing, their little blue panels, while he was endorsed by his ridiculous voices, their personalities and knowledge tormenting him while they helped him... But this was no place for such things. He had to do this. They would help him in this, if nothing else.

"What are you doing, Seraphim?! I thought you were going to give him the chip and get out of there! They can handle this! Why are you doing this? You can seriously die, you know!" Erin coughed, and hacked out slight flecks of blood, but that didn't matter. If she didn't do something her navi might even die by the hands of his allies, Twi, or even both! She had to do something, if she couldn't convince him, she couldn't do anything at all...

"If you wished to kill yourself, there are other ways, such as touching the sun or by a headshot, as Ishmael would put it quite aptly."

"...If I survive, I'll try one later. A hero never dies, remember?" Seraphim spoke as if he was nonchalant, but there was a tone of bereft, desperate longing in his voice, for hope, for some way of defeating that foe. That "boss", one could say... Or a less serious person would put it as. In any case, this was indeed as he put it for everyone other than himself and possibly to end his pain.

"Stop being so cheerful." A sarcastic voice cut in, stopping the navi in his train of thought as arms locked in from behind his back, holding him as wings lifted him above the ground, tattered wings of darkness. More like cloth-formed wings, he reflected as with a sudden acceleration pushing, the world passed him by in an instant and hands pressed against his back. He spun as he landed, and-

"I don't believe it, he's serious! We can't die! He's going to kill us!" The voice resonated in Seraphim's head, along with a series of other yells and screams of denial.

"This can't be happening! No, no, no! Make him run for it or something, this can't happen!" Seraphim was already springing for the armor of Twi, seeking to hold him in place, his arms reaching out-

"NO. YOU WON'T RESPAWN!" That last voice didn't even slow seraphim down as he lashed out, making his attempt to pin Twi against him, to keep him from moving and let them have their ultimate shot at him. They could end this fight here and now. This was to give them their chance to do so.

"SERAPHIM!" Erin's voice cried out, the best she could do with her frail throat already worn raw as she slammed her palm into the bed again and again, wishing she had never taken that navi from her parents...

"What the hell is this?" She'd said, picking up the PET from the bed as the Dialysis machine ran its course, cleaning out her blood for its second treatment in a week of treatments, every day after school, five days a week for three hours a day. She sighed. She flipped open the PET, looking at the note there.

"From your Loving Parents"

It read, And she picked it up, crumpled it and tossed it into the wastebin with her free arm, flicking on the machine. She already had a normalnavi with her other PET, a rental... In other words, a boring little thing. So what was this, a Custom navi? She read the instructions- "Install what you wish."

And now she wish she'd installed some sort of navi that would have listened, or just some obedient navi.

"I hate you!" She screamed through her raw throat, meaning it while not meaning it. She mouthed other, less hateful words as she broke down and drew her knees up to her chest as she sobbed. And then what appeared to be hell itself raged forth from the navi named Broadside.

5]Grab Twi and hold him there.
When Pianissimo pulled the trigger... nothing happened for a moment... Then...

Instead of firing, the weapon arm closed suddenly...

Had it malfunctioned?

A heartbeat passed...

Then everyone knew something was wrong as the massive Tower Shield hanging from Broadside's right shoulder disconnected, and crashed into the ground, splintering it. The shield began to fall forward when it and Broadside's right arm shimmered and vanished in a flash... To be replaced by a second Weapon Arm, already pointing where the first was aimed....

The full import of what he'd meant when Broadside had asked Jared to allow him to 'recalibrate his weapon systems before firing' slammed home...

The number of targeting lasers painting Twi.ADM's form multiplied madly as the big Navi's arsenal awoke...

The bulkhead of armor housing the Hailstorm Gatling dropped away while a larger form of the weapon deployed from the weapon mount and spun up...

Four became five....

The cannons on Broadside's back flipped up, and the barrels swung over the chambers, locking into place and pointing at the target... Their auto0-loaders slamming the first shells into the chambers, then readying the next...

Five became seven...

The panel covering the mortar mount on Broadside's upper torso split, opened outwards, then retracted into Broadside's body... As the doors disappeared, an auto-loading mortar's smooth bored barrel extended from the gun port... It then canted skywards, lining up the trajectory with it's target area.... An audible ka-clank could be heard as the first round was chambered and another as the charge socketed in behind it...

Seven became ten...

The armored hatches covering the missile batteries popped up with a hydraulic hiss, split across the middle, and slid away, revealing an awesome array of heavy warheads. No less than forty canister missiles with blue or red tipped warheads sat in arrays of twenty next to a pair of enormous curved blades that ran vertically up the length of the launchers...

Ten became eighteen...

The twin Weapon Arms split horizontally and slid open vertically, revealing.... nothing... Nothing but an empty space between two smooth surfaces. No guns. No missiles. Nothi-- A quartet of square shafts sprang from the back of each split-half of the weapon arms, both top, and bottom alike... Then the four casings of the split shafts extended forward, doubling the length of the two split-barreled weapons... revealing a glowing core running along the tines, sandwiched between thick solid steel... They locked into place as more squared shafts sprang out in pairs in what was now the mid-point of the elongated split barrels...

Eighteen became twenty-four as the split-cannons began to glow with an amassing charge...

All of these events occurred within the span of three human heartbeats. Just long enough for Jared to snap out of his daze, mash the communications key, and scream "EVERYBODY GET DOWN!! N---"

Then, in a moment too chaotically surreal for the mind's eye to absorb in its totality, the combined strength of every Navi present was unleashed upon their enemy in a hellish storm of almost indescribable devastation....

The mortar erupted like a volcano, hurling bombs into the air on pillars of fire with the smell of sulphur... Only to rain down once again, bringing death and destruction with them like the rocks they so mimicked... Only to explode violently on impact, a trick not even the volcanoes had learned...

The shoulder cannons rapidly boomed back and forth in an alternating cacophy of sound and light... Recoiling with every shot, the twin dragons spat great plumes of fire as they sent shell after destructive shell flying through the air at supersonic speeds.

The gatling gun buzzed as it literally breathed a streaming cloud of red-hot fire, laced with electricity like an angry dragon... The infernal spray set everything in its path ablaze, incinerating a wide arc of the net before it....

Missiles flew forth from the twin batteries like an angry swarm of jet-powered hornets, flying outward in an ever expanding cloud of contrails as they cleared for their attack runs... And then dove in for the kill.

The giant recurves launched one after the other, madly whipsawing through the air, as well as anything in their path, as they closed in on their target...

The blazing salvo blasted the net with explosion after explosion for almost 5 punishing seconds... cracking, shattering, and melting panels as the attack wore on... and completely obscuring Twi.ADM and Seraphim.EXE in an ever-expanding dome of explosive fire as attack after attack pummeled the area with the deafening roar of total war...

Then, the charging cannons reached their maximum limit, almost forgotten beside the mounting destruction of the rest of the attack... As the rest of the weapons fell silent, they proved that there was a sound even deaf people could hear as twin beams of pure energy, as wide as a Navi is tall, burst into blinding existence... The beams lanced through the center of the cloud of smoke and fire converging on an unseen point... The beams died... A light flashed a millisecond before the energy gathered at the focal point detonated like a miniature nuclear bomb...

And then it was over...Ironically, the blue screens their enemy had used to impair them were the only things that saved them from becoming blind...

There was a great, blinding flash of light--

Everything stopped for that one moment. Time itself seemed to slow to a crawl as all operators' eyes glared at their screens, looking for a sign, any sign-- that Twi.ADM had been defeated.

...Then something unexpected happened.

--Which then disappeared, collapsing inward and being absorbed into the nigh-unharmed navi known as Twi.ADM.

"Ah! That would've killed me... Well, I suppose that ends our duel, then? Heh. Of course, nobody here can die. It's not much of an honorable duel if nobody lives to see the end of it, true?" He chuckled, and stepped away from the equally-unscathed Seraphim.exe. "There's safety measures on this entire area that prevent navis from being killed. Some of the other warehouses of this type house some... volatile... pieces of data, so the protection's there to keep workers safe."

"If you're wondering how you killed Blazewolf there, he classes more as a Virus than a Navi, despite the navi frame I used in making him." Everyone was silent... Twi scratched the back of his neck nervously. "Ah, right... I forgot to tell you all about the security measures beforehand... um..." Twi snapped his fingers, and a small display case rose from the ground. There were quite a few small pouches contained within, each one marked with a name. One in particular had a small, purple support program orb sitting next to it; the one marked for Seraphim... "Well, erm... Thank you all for the duel! It was... fun. Probably more fun than I'll have in a while." Twi disengaged Blazewolf and Nomad, and, with a wave of his hand, he disappeared, leaving the navis alone in the area...

--VICTORY!--

Special Pet Kill (Blazewolf)! Seraphim gets: Support Program
Special Pet Kill (Nomad)! Nobody gets: ... Damn it. D:<
Special, Nobody Killed Nomad So We're Going By Damage Reward! Red gets: Support Program

Mission Clear! Return to Netpolice contact for GMO Reward!
Pianissimo jumped down from the makeshift gunner seat and reverted to his uncrossed form, leaving only the assassin navi. He looked around. Everyone seemed perfectly unharmed, and Twi had pretty much up and vanished. He walked over to the display case and grabbed the pouch with his name on it, then walked back to the rest of the group. "So..." he said, seeing no real way out. "...now what?"
"Omigod." Was a mishmash of words compressed into one that came from Erin's lips as she watched the flying assault in every single imaginable way launch itself at Seraphim. Her PET's screen literally went white at the resulting impact, shining brightly, and Erin clutched her knees closer, the hurt getting worse, not going away as she pressed her eyes against her knees, trying to wash away the image with the exploding lights in her eyes.

And then, she forced herself to look- Her navi was fine, untouched, even. The navi fell over with a thud, as the support program's data slowly disappeared. The clothing of the navi literally glowed briefly with runes, then burst into shards of data, revealing the navi's customary clothing, the navi himself lay there unconscious and looking completely at peace.

"Seraphim! You're all right! Oh gods, I'm so sorry for saying that- but-"
Suddenly, a small sign lowered from above with a message written on it:

"By the way, there was never a Jack Out barrier. You can Jack Out. -Twi"
"Oh, well that simplifies matters," said Pianissimo, walking into a dark corner of the room and kneeling down. "I'll be seeing you all, I'd think." he added, before dissolving into the darkness and jacking out.

Just before doing so, however, one thought flashed through his head. Wait, if there was never a jack out barrier, why did we even bother fighting him?
Druidman collapsed on the ground.

"That was the most pointless thing I think I've ever done, dudes." He said, panting slightly as the fire smoldered out. "That big dude is awesome, though." he said as he disengaged his Cross. "I wonder if Divinity and lil'DNR are okay." he asked himself.
"Hmmm..... PU 3 or our last Speed Upgrade.... damn him, he's made this choice so hard." Wes sighed, "Junior, I'm heading out. Return when you're ready."

"Umm... okay." Junior stood, thinking for a moment. He noticed Daisy a short distance away. He wanted to run over and check on how she was, but now that over half the people here knew his other identity, he couldn't afford to seem to close to her, lest she be put in danger. He calmly walked over to her and bowed. In a monotone voice, he said, "It is fortunate that you survived the battle. Please contact me on the matter we discussed earlier." Junior paused. He was probably acting a bit too cold towards her right now. Making sure no one was looking, he pulled his glasses down a bit and shot her a wink. He then turned and walked away, glancing over the battlefield. Red and Nikko had both made it through the battle relatively in tact. A good distance away, he noticed one navi lying directly under where Twi had been, in a crumpled heap. It was the buffoon who had randomly appeared earlier. Could that navi have actually tried taking on the navi by himself? Or had he or Twi had done something else? He got the feeling that the screen that had blocked his view had caused him to miss something important. Perhaps Wes had been able to see it and could update him later. For now, he was gone. He jacked out, returning to his PET.
"..... Big buddy!" DNR screamed with shock on his eyes as he ran through the domain to Druidman. "... Big Buddy, are ya alright?" He asked, shaking the limp body with severity, seeing if he was alive.
"Well, that certainly was climatic." Zan remarked as Twi vanished.

"Yes Sire," Runeknight agreed. "Though I wish I could have done more to aid in the battle."

"No worries. I'm going to send out our email to everyone here and perhaps we'll be able to show them what we can do at a later date."

"That sounds intriguing."

"For now, just collect our reward and jack out. I'll make our report to the higher ups."

"As you say Sire."

Runeknight collected his part of the reward and then turned toward the other Navi. He saluted them, fist to chest, and waved farewell.

"A grand battle. I hope that we may all work again on some later date."

His gaze lingered on the Navi known as Junior as he disappeared into the Net. Neo Requiem was still on his mind, but he was unsure on how to respond to the threat the group posed. He would have to remember to speak with his Lord about it. Runeknight saluted one final time before disappearing in a flash of cobalt light.

((Jack out. Everyone get: Zan's email address!))
"My life is made up of idiots, all around me." American said before he was jacked out in a beam of light. The zenny counter raising with the newly aquired amount he had just gained from the fight. This should be a good amount to get some nice stuff to boost his power.

((Jacked Out))
"Ugh, I'm glad it's over with," Red commented as she disengaged her JuniorCross.
"Well, let's send expand out contact list for a bit," Shin said, sending his e-mail out to the navis that haven't jacked out yet.
"Farewell," Shin commented as Red grabbed her pouch, and shot back up to her PET in a column of red light.

[JACK OUT!
EVERYBODY GET: Shin's e-mail, if you aren't already a Requiem member. :P]
"Ok.......that was a WIERD and hard battle....."
"Jack out for now Nikko. we have some more busting to do."
"Alright."

Nikko then jacked out of the net in a blue beam of light.
Daisy paid little attention to Twi... and the same with Broadside. She however raised the hand she healed Junior with, and had it in front of her face. Somehow... she liked it when she grabbed, then later placed her hand on Junior's butt. She was unsure why, but she liked it. She turned her head to see that Junior approved her, and was bowing. She head what she said, and then blushed at his wink. From what Daisy could tell, it seems like the dinner was still on. But before she could say anything, Junior jacked out. Well, since it did seem like his netop knew Anthony... she might be able to get in contact with Junior. So on that note, Daisy jacked out back into her PET.
"Whoa, whoa whoa whoa! Dude!" Druidman said roughly as he was jostled about by DNR. "I'm fine. This fight was no big deal. Purple dude was a pushover compared to Drauchen, man." Picking himself back up, he looked back at the medical Navi. "But are YOU okay, dude? I saw you take a pretty big hit there, man."
