Asymptote's Hunting

Asymptote would finally reach the top of the wall, grunting and groaning as he sprawled out on the top, almost out of breath as he looked down at his partner, having finished off the enemies down below...and up top. God...damn... Asymptote panted as he didn't like the thought of having to climb back down the wall to grab his rewards from the fight. But he would slowly get back up on his feet...before slipping off the top of the wall. A brief moment passed before he fell, and fell hard, down to the ground and landed on his feet. Quaking the ground beneath his feet, legs and body shaking from the hard fall. Shiiiiit...that hurt... He grunted, starting to hope he could get chips like his partner, beginning to causally sweep up the data around him. But regardless, he noticed the various colored fragments that Eris had begun to sweep up as well, getting a chip in the process. Interesting...why didn't I see those fragments before? Was I not strong enough to see them?
"Ow ow owww..." whined Eris, wincing as she rose from having plummeted from the top of the now-collapsed wall. With her tail mostly crushed under her butt from the fall, it hung limply from her rear end as she began to recover from the battle. From what the wreckage implied, it seems like they were successful in routing the viruses, so she did a little happy dance internally. She made no note of the eyeballs that had appeared all around her, or the extra limbs that had sprouted from her flank. Instead, the areas which had produced them started to grow vicious-looking rows of sharp white teeth. Seemingly oblivious, Eris stretched out her limbs, and hugged herself tightly immediately afterwards.

While Eris made happy little squeaks as she curled up in her own embrace, the numerous toothy maws began to gnash rapidly on the extraneous limbs, spewing out copious amounts of black fluid that spilled out into a puddle around her feet. Soon after, the arms and eyeballs were no more, and the openings that had split her skin fused without a single trace. The black puddle around her feet was all that remained.

"Mmm! That was a good workout. I feel good!" she said, happily beaming. Releasing herself from her own hug, she looked around and saw Asymptote, who was recovering in his own way. Around her were scattered fragments of the viruses she had fought, but some of them remained curiously intact. One of them was the Typhoon, though 'intact' was a bit of a misnomer. Its internals had been exposed, and there was a small blue cylinder in the wreckage. "Oh, what's this?" she said, prying open the virus's metal exterior and chomping down on bits of it in the process.

Extracting the cylinder, she examined it, and found that it had a small button on the side. Pressing it caused a small hole on the end to expel a concentrated blast of wind, which blew apart part of her hand. "Ooooh!" she exclaimed in wonderment, as if missing three and a half of her fingers was no big deal -- and it wasn't, the blown-apart phalanges were instantly restored moments later. She was about to consume it herself, when she had an idea, and skipped over to Asymptote. Holding up the cylinder to about chest height of her partner, she started chattering excitedly. "Hey, hey, look, I found something! Do you want it? You press the thingy on the side and it goes BOOM! POW!"

to Asymptote]
Asymptote had begin to sweep over the rest of the area as he noticed Eris recovering in her own way, a soft shiver coming up his spine as her extra glitch-riddled limbs were devoured by her own programing. But as he sweeped up the data, he found the desiccated corpse of the ElecOgre that his partner had slain while he had tried to do his part of the battle. The red skinned brute was little more than bits and pieces...but...the horns on it...something was strange about them. Hey Joseph. Anything we can do with these horns? He asked his netop, rubbing his hand over the smooth ivory that made them up. Lets see... Joseph began, poking away at his PET. Actually...yea. Those horns contain chip data. Amazing how well it's preserved considering... He continued.

But before Asymptote could rip the horns off the corpse, he was interrupted by his partner. Holding a blue metallic tube near his chest. "Hey, hey, look, I found something! Do you want it? You press the thingy on the side and it goes BOOM! POW!" Asymptote was a little stunned at the offer, but even behind the mask that held his face, he could only smile warmly. Well...if you really want to give it to me... He began as he reached out to take it in one hand, the data he had absorbed (and a little extra) would coalesce into his free hand. A bag of zenny materializing as he held it out to her. In exchange, here's some zenny. It's less than what you'd pay from the shop, but it should be about...nine-hundred zenny? He said simply holding it out to about her chest, with him bent down just a little bit.

"Oh! Thanks! Um... zenny, okay," said Eris, catching the little bag in her hand. Looking slightly befuddled, she examined the bag, before opening her mouth wide to accept it into herself. However, before it could pass through her lips--

"No, don't eat it!"

A loud voice sounded out through the area, seemingly coming from empty space. Of course, that wasn't really the case; it was just Charles blurting out an exclamation through an unfortunately non-private link. Nevertheless, Eris looked around in confusion, her head darting about as if looking for something. "Eh? Master? Why can't I eat-- Oh," she said, before looking back down at her hands. The bag was now gone, having been automatically transferred to her PET into its zenny card, and Charles didn't seem to be talking any further. She looked slightly dejected for a little bit, before shaking her head.

"Oh, well. Master took the bag, I think. But he'll use it better than me. Do we go on now?" she asked.

[Trade accepted.]
[Battle 3 - Ready. Erysichthon.EXE - 135HP.]
Asymptote sighed as the bag was taken from his ally before she could devour it, Joseph chuckling to himself as he tried to pinpoint what happened. As best he could assume, it was her netop who had been silent to them the entire time. Either way Asymptote nodded at her. Just a second. He said simply before turning to the corpse of the ElecOgre she had eliminated. Grappling the horns on the outer sides on either side of him, he began to push them inward and with a combination of his muscles and pressing inward on a fractal point, the horns soon snapping off in his hands. Asymptote sighing as he sent the data to his netop, rubbed his arms gently. Ooooh that smarts. But now that's finished, lets move deeper. Oh, and tell your netop to keep an eye on your HP at all times. I saw you take a few hits out there. If your HP hits zero, you'll be jacked out automatically which we refer to as an Emergency Jack-Out. Just be careful out there. he would teach the newly made navi before ushering her forward into the net, keeping close just in case.

((Haven't been mentioning it, sorry: Asymptote's Beetank Bounty is currently at 4 for this thread))
((+2 Mutual FXP))

While Eris rectified her remaining glitches, Asymptote, ever the gentleman, managed to avoid making both finger-food jokes, AND see-food jokes. The wonders of the net might never cease. The two chatted lightly while they exchanged goods and spoils from the battle, then began to move on in search of more adventure and more prizes; Eris with youthful obliviousness and Asymptote with teacherly advice.

They moved on from the wrecked display area, selecting another of the branching passageways at random, but before too long the often cluttered pathways of SciLab gave way to another slightly more open area. This one seemed to have a high ceiling, and far above other walkways stretched across between other archways. they were high up enough that they weren't really going to be a consideration unless the pair fancied a game of indoor wall-climbing, but the more pressing point of focus started with the breeze that was blowing consistently across the way from where they entered.

It was a chill, cold breeze, and the effect was apparently being generated by a mechanical fan on the far left side of the hall. Beside it, a hovering drone of some kind, with a metallic, shiny domed top waited sentinel, until the pair arrived; it rotated to face them as soon as the pair showed up, and a small aerial extended from the top and began to ping. The breeze kicked up to a fiercer wind, and other sources of movement about the tall chamber began to make themselves known.

Further out from them, up a small step, two rounded hard-head viruses seemed like they had been frosted over by the chill wind, but as they shuddered to life it appeared they were both quite functional anyway. In between the two ColdHeads, a large cube lit up in red and blue, lifting off the ground to hover slightly as the alert was sounded.

Closer, a pair of Swordies had been looking distinctly bored, scratching repeated noughts and crosses boards into different panels, but both had snapped up now, raising their weapons in anticipation of a good fight. On the left and right sides of the tall hall, two small platforms seemed to house a pair of artillery tanks, one larger than the other. Upon hearing the warning ping, however, they both shuddered to life and began moving down their ramps towards the ground level.

Finally, by coincidence of where Asymptote and Eris had entered the chamber, two mechanical shapes revealed themselves to be viruses as well, directly beside them, positioned as though guarding the archway they were coming from. They were both Twisties, and the two navis each had one directly beside them.

Most of the flooring in the tall chamber was made of glass, with solar strips laced through it. The two platforms that had housed the tank viruses were metal in construction, though the ramps that led down to the ground floor were of some kind of hard silicate composition. the glass seemed thick and stable enough to walk on, but it didn't seem to have been specifically reinforced in any way, so the pair might still want to be a little bit careful of it.

WindBoxWindBox (Wind & Fan)

All viruses in this family are immobile during combat, with the exception of being able to turn to face any direction it wishes. Later versions of this virus may switch between Wind and Fan effects, which requires one action, during which time all wind or fan effects cease. Bonuses and penalties do not stack if multiples of the same virus family exist on the field. Wind and Fan do not push or pull Objects, only creatures.

Special: Those allied with this virus may opt to take advantage of the wind to increase movement speed or evasion by going with the wind. They do not suffer any penalties, however. Conversely, anyone may move along with the wind to increase accuracy by 10% for close ranged attacks, assuming the target is in that direction.

-=Battle 3, Start!=-
Asymptote gave a shiver as they made their way into the room, the navi looking around at the cavalcade of viruses around them. Not to mention the two Twisties to either side of them, not to mention the wind blowing into them from the left. It was unsure how much of an effect the virus back there would have on them, but he could do little more than just dig his heels in...only to feel a piece of glass beneath him. It's obvious this would be a more trying fight than before, but he had to fight regardless.

Eris, careful. It doesn't feel like it, but I'm pretty sure that wind is more malicious than what it should be. Attacks can miss, you can lose your balance, just about anything can happen when you're downwind of something like that. And I get the feeling it'll blow off any barriers if we try to use them. Asymptote commented, an arm in front of his face to keep his eyes from getting dried out. Joseph, gimmie the RemoBit and GutPunch.

Asymptote got exactly what he was looking for, a massive yellow fist would begin to build over Asymptote's. The met metal would gradually cover over his hand much like a glove in sections, starting with his fingers and very slowly growing over his palm and ending with a large piece of metal over his wrist to help lock everything in place, much like a cast would, but this time was different...large metal screws would begin to twist their way into each joint on his fingers and around his wrists, a cracking and crunching as metal drilled it's way through flesh and bone was more than enough to make the navi shudder, pain not even registering with his mind for a few brief seconds as the metal screws finally finished drilling through his hand. Nnnnnnn...this sure as fuck...ain't getting easier... He mumbled under his breath, red liquids starting to drip from his hand and staining the clean yellow metals that made up the weapon, disappearing into nothing as it hit the ground below him.

While that happened, behind him, the other chip would begin to summon it's self. In the likeness of the Twisty viruses that it was born from the data of, the creature manned it's small platform, leavers, switches and dials all around it as it sat in a small swivel chair. The tower it was seated in was more derelict and held together by scraps and machinery scavenged from the local junkyard. The UFO that was similarly summoned, was much the same way. Held together by scrap and electronics salvaged from bits and pieces, it slowly made it's way up into the air with a few hiccups before finally evening out.

The UFO would soon zoom across the area, high in the air and hopefully mostly out of the path of the wind, the UFO would circle as best as it could around the WindBox as it blew out it's air across the area. With a high pitched beeping noise, the UFO began to glow a bright yellow as it brought out what seemed to be an electrical bulb, cracked and barely held together by tape, the bulb would grow ever brighter as it gathered up energy...only for it to explode the second it reached critical mass. The UFO would hover in place for a brief moment as smoke poured out of it's body, losing altitude, it made for a suicide bombing against the immobile windbox below. Gathering up it's remaining energy, a flash of energy would surround it in crackling electricity as it fell to the ground, an explosion of energy as the UFO would send scraps of metal all around it's landing point before disappearing, likely breaking the panel it landed upon.

Asymptote in the meantime would begin to gather up energy inside himself, his body crackling with energy it's self as he began to tap into his own processes, his body ready to regenerate at the slightest moment he takes a simple scratch, able to regenerate even dead tissue without a second thought.

But afterwards, Asymptote would channel his own energy within his GutPunch, a soft glow emanating from it as he swiftly turned to the Twisty next to him. With a murderous glare in his eyes, wind not withstanding, Asymptote would grin beneath his mask as he pulled his arm back, the sound of a piston pulling inwards as his arm rippled with power from within his body. Let this fight get underway. And don't go holding back Eris, you've got more to show before you pass this class! Asymptote began, before stepping forward, his heels kept digging in as much as they could as he launched a punch towards the tower in front of him. His arm dropping down towards the tower from above, fist clenched tightly as he looked to utterly crush and annihilate the creature before it could zap him completely and utterly from above with it's own UFO.

"This place is biiiiiig!" yelled Eris as they entered the high-ceilinged area, giggling as she heard the echoes from her own voice in the enormous space. Looking up, she saw some of the walkways higher up. She wondered where they went, and whether she would be able to climb up to such a height. However, they were greeted by the breeze from the WindBox virus, which heralded the arrival of all of its comrades as well. In particular, she was focused on two of the Swordy viruses that apparently were having a nice game of tic-tac-toe. Her mind wandered slightly, thinking about joining them in the game as well. Fortunately, Eris was snapped out of her small daydream as Asymptote explained to her about their situation.

"Huh? Wind? But this wind is nice and cool," said Eris, who hadn't caught the entire sentence, tilting her head in slight confusion. "O-Okay though."

"Something about that big box fan...?" muttered Charles, who was listening in instead. Unlike his appearance, Charles had to admit that Asymptote's advice had held water. Jealousy sprung from within him, and he cursed his lack of a voice in the current fight. Still, he could still assist her, much more than what the giant ugly thing could -- with his chips. "Hmm... That glass looks pretty slippery. I guess this thing is reliable enough... Let's try this one too," said Charles, as he slotted in the Totem once more, along with one more chip.

Eris was pushed up in place as the bottom Totem head spun up out of nowhere under her feet, before it extended further and further up to its full height. She hopped about in glee, before her vision was obscured by a massive shadow, prompting her to brace herself to catch it to avoid having it crush her.

"Whoa! It's hot!" said Eris. Indeed, the gigantic kettle she was holding seemed to be on the verge of boiling over, spewing out a plume of steam while being held in her bare hands. Though it looked like it would have scalded her hands by then, she seemed to be struggling more with the kettle's weight than anything else. Experimentally hefting it up and down with a huff, her cheeks puffed up in indignation, and the muscles in her arms bulged with overburdened vessels. Charles could almost see the steam spewing out from Eris's reddened face. Before the operator could say anything about it, however, she finally lifted it over her head with one final exertion.

"Hup!" exclaimed Eris, as the heavy kettle was raised slowly. A brief pause followed, before she tossed it with all her might towards one of the metallic blue sphere viruses. While the wait seemed to be of no consequence at first glance, it seemed like Eris was waiting for the virus to attack before throwing the kettle, possibly in some attempt to intercept the virus's attack with it. Either that, or it was merely a small coincidence, and her head was as empty as previously proven.

"I did it!" she yelled.

Subsequently after her attack, her arms hung limply at her sides. With how flaccid they looked, her arms almost looked like deflated party balloons, if it wasn't for the copious amount of black blood streaming from her overworked muscles. Eris herself seemed to see no problem with this, hopping about happily and flailing her limp arms about in a weird dance. Then, she caught herself looking upwards, and paused for thought for a moment.

"Let's see if I can jump up there," she decided, barely on a whim. Sticking her tongue out like a brash kid preparing to do something extraordinarily stupid, Eris crouched down, allowing both of her arms to hang behind her. Her arms twisted about in a grotesque manner and merged with each other, creating a twisted wreckage of muscle and bone. At the end of it, her fingers, now crumpled into a black-stained mess, were sucked inwards, creating a vacuum of space that seemed to inhale briefly, before emitting an explosively loud howling noise.

"Wheeeee!" Eris cried out in glee, as she propelled herself far upwards towards the upper walkways, while her arms untangled and reassembled themselves.

With a lot of viruses ahead of them, and surrounding them to a certain extent, Asymptote had some more last minute advice for his new friend, before the two of them got stuck into the battle, in their own unique ways. The Windbox, to the side had clicked up a gear, blowing a fierce gale across the room, but despite this interference, the totem pole that Eris pulled out of the ground was at enough of a point blank range to its target that the blustery wind did not prevent the gout of fire from neatly incinerating the twisty beside her before it could take any actions.

The two ColdHead viruses immediately clanked their cases shut, defending themselves for the time began, but the WindBox had no such luxury, and bore the full brunt of the crashing attack from Asymptote's remote tower. The glass beneath the fan cracked badly, and it seemed like it might give out at any moment. Repaying the favour in kind, the Twisty beside Asymptote moved its hands and its antenna pinged, before a different remote bit took form above the hulking navi and dropped a bolt of electrical energy on him as well. The glass beneath him began to lattice with cracks under the force, but asymptote himself was able to shrug the majority of the lightning bolt away, his own regeneration processes kicking in immediately to repair the damage.

Eris, meanwhile was hefting her overly weighty boiler away from herself, to land it neatly in front of one of the closed up ColdHeads, but no sooner had she thrown, than the two Swordies warped in in tandem, one each in front of the two navis in the doorway, and swinging their blades in a cross cut. Amusingly, they each missed their main targets, Asymptote and Eris respectively, but the carry through of each swing was perfectly on target to hit the other virus' navi instead. Asymptote took the minor cut from the sword, but Eris managed to avoid her stroke... her Totem got wobbled though. Ignoring these two interlopers, Asymptote was more concerned with pummelling the Twisty that had shocked him into a fine and crunchy paste, which he did with great vigour. The glass creaked beneath the weight of his punching, but it held, for now.

the metal-domed virus that had sent out the first warning sounds had remained hovering stationary during these exchanges, watching, but now it rushed forward with a very sudden speed and a part of its mechanism pulled down, ratcheting open the metal casing and revealing an array of delicate machinery within. There wasn't much chance to appreciate this, as one of the probes at the forefront of these inner workings released a sonic wave that washed over Asymptote first, then Eris and the swordy beside her. The loud disruption rattled Asymptote slightly, but while it seemed to make Eris vibrate rapidly and leave her arms limp, whatever was going on with her and the black ichor running down her limbs seemed to increase in vibration more and more, even after the sound stopped. In short order, she split apart, trailing strands of black blood between her suddenly doubled form.

Eris was left unharmed, but just beside her a second version of the red-skinned girl stood, though... different... For one thing, she was standing on her hands, with her feet in the air, but the head was reversed, and the face inverted, so that the clone was looking at everyone else the right way up. Matching this displacement, the clone's tail sprouted from just beneath its breasts instead, lying down over them and trailing on the ground. The eris-decoy's clothing was strangely inverted as well, as though it had been designed to be worn by such an upside-down person — her dress hung over her breasts and covered them just by gravity, while the upper end was more trimmed and shortened, cupping and supporting her far more elevated rump, and leaving open to exposure an unfortunate amount of her anatomy from the hips up. The legs bent and dangled at the knees, and she moved them about a lot more like arms and hands, with very little of the actual manual dexterity than real hands would afford, and began to run about gleefully laughing, on her hands instead. The subtly wrong alignment of limbs and body features created a deeply unsettling uncanny valley effect if anyone looked at the decoy for too long.

One of the battle participants that was apparently all on the 'kill it with fire' train about this latest development was the beetank that was trundling its way towards the scuffle. as it came on, it launched a bomb into the middle of the melee, not caring who it hit, since there were far more hostile targets in the blast range than friendlies. The bomb seemed primarily directed towards Asymptote, who was at the centre of the pack at this point, and it hit him cleanly. The resulting blast managed to miss Eris, and her creepy decoy had split off just out of range, but the explosion also damaged the totem pole, and Asymptote's remote tower, as well as hitting one of the swordies, and sending broken pieces of shrapnel into the intricate inner workings of the Pulsebulb before it could manage to close up its protective metal case in time. The other tank also took a more precise, single-target shot at Eris, but it managed to miss her anyway.

Beneath all of them, however, the first explosion sent more cracks lacing across the glass beneath them, and the already fractured section under asymptote shattered with a resounding crash of splintering shards. He didn't take any extra harm from the already cracked panel breaking through, though it did drop him down into a pit several feet below the surface of the area, before he finally came to a stop on more solid, reinforced glass. It seemed very much like the damaged terrain all around could give way at any moment as well, especially with all of the things and viruses perched on it. The PulseBulb promptly closed its casing and retreated back to its starting point, beside the badly damaged Windbox.

Eris was getting out of this situation quickly, and rocketed herself up, up and away with a wince-inducing arm spring — her clone waved a foot at her with happy enthusiasm as she went. The demon girl flew up a dramatically long way, but even as the tail end of her potent fling reached its peak, the walkways above were still far off. she was very, very high at this point, and beginning to fall again, but on the bright side, she'd probably gone off the radar of most of the viruses down on the battlefield, for the moment anyway.

The cube in the middle of the field had risen up now, spinning in place and flashing between red and blue lighting rapidly, until it came to a stop on red and emitted a series of quick laser beams in multiple directions. It seemed to be aiming for Asymptote, but missed nailing him as he dropped from sight. It also aimed for Eris' Totem, setting it wobbling again, and at the control tower, which also couldn't dodge. The cube settled back again, beginning to flash its blue and red lights at a slow pace.

Area: SciLab, Yoka, Beach, Sharo, Netfrica, Hades Isle

HP: 100
Attack Damage/Effect: Wind Effect, Northwind
Attack Accuracy: S
Attack Description: Causes a large scale gale of wind to blow across the entire field in the direction the virus is facing. This gale will constantly move all targets this virus considers to be enemies in the direction the wind is blowing, which makes it difficult to land many kinds of attacks on it and allied viruses, such as thrown attacks and close ranged attacks. All those affected by the wind will also have their barriers and auras blown off by a constant Northwind effect.
Element: None
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): Wind, Zenny
Special: Causes short ranged attacks, such as (but not limited to) swords, melee attacks, and flame thrower style weapons, to suffer from a 30% accuracy penalty against targets they are being pushed away from. Both sides of the engagement suffer a 30% accuracy penalty with direct attacks perpendicular to the direction of the wind, and all thrown attacks.

Inversion Split (Positive Glitch): Victim generates a decoy with predetermined features resulting in an image of them with various physical inversions. This acts as a decoy in all respects and can be manipulated by the victim. The decoy regenerates once per round if destroyed, but disappears immediately if the glitch is cured. Lasts two turns, or until removed with Status Cure, Glitch Eater or other similar effect.

Asymptote was practically plastered by the opponents in his way, having not attempted to avoid the enemy attacks, he wound up stuck in a hole, fifty of his HP gone and with a paltry regeneration effect to compensate for the damage taken. He managed to slowly regenerate his health, but it could barely fight back against the pain that rocked through his body and the open, oozing and burnt wounds that he could feel smolder. F-Fuck me... He groaned, barely fitting in the hole on his back. The navi's muscles seized up as electrical shocks continued to course through them. He would soon enough shake off the static that clung to his body, managing to right himself onto his feet as he looked up at the broken hole he was inside of.

Ugh...I swear to god if I get a cannon in the face, I'll kill someone with my bare hands. He mumbled to himself as he inhaled deeply, feeling his body continuing to slowly repair it's self. But either way, he would begin to summon his special "casing" around his body. His torso quickly hardening as it began to fill underneath with a viscous, yellowish fluid. Slowly pushing the hardened skin out until sufficiently filled to protect it's master, Asymptote would jump at the wall in front of him, grappling to the wall as he found foot and handholds, he began to slowly climb out of the broken hole, hand over hand, feet pushing up against his weight.

Meanwhile, despite taking a hit from an errant bomb, the tower still functioned against all hope. The Twisty, mumbling to it's self in a viral language, summoned another derelict UFO from the thin air next to it after a few button presses. With a loud "WEEEEEEEEE" noise, much like a loud whistle, zoomed off towards the target that it had attacked before, circling around the battlefield for a moment before hovering above the intended and stationary target of the WindBox, Asymptote's targeting processes starting to take effect from the navi while he was "indisposed" from the last little bit, the UFO brought out what looked to be a futuristic (But very poorly maintained) weapon with an orb at the end. The gun pointing down towards the WindBox that blew against Eris and Asymptote, a loud buzzing sound could be heard from around despite the blowing of the box, and a "KA-ZAAAAAP!" sounded out as the UFO would shoot out a stream of panel-breaking lightning against the stationary object.

Meanwhile, as asymptote climbed out of the hole that he had blundered into, Eris could feel her sight begin to sharpen slightly, as if she could target her enemies and allies better, if only for a very brief moment, as well as one of her chip based attacks gaining just the slightest bit of power

"Ah, I can't reach it," said Eris, as she saw the platform above her slowly draw further away from her grasp. Gravity began to work its pull on her and her hair billowed wildly in front of her face. Her arms were stretched out skyward, trying to reach for her target that wasn't meant to be. Being just freshly reassembled, the muscles in her arms bulged with grotesque vigor, almost looking like a pair of soaked but wrung towels. Shrugging internally, she spun herself around to see herself rapidly approach the ground. The freakish-looking inverted clone on the ground waved its legs gleefully as if to cheer her on.

Suddenly, a loud voice blared in her ears. "Eris! Why did you do that?!" the voice rebuked, its identity of course being that of her operator's.
"Waah!" exclaimed Eris, reflexively bringing her hands up to the horns on the sides of her head. "O-Oh, Master. You scared me... W-What did I do?"

"What do you mean what did you do?! You're going fucking skydiving without a parachute?!" Charles continued. In the background, the sound of a wall being thumped angrily could be heard, followed by Charles squeaking in fear.

"Huh? Para-chute? What's that?" said Eris, just as she landed smack in the middle of the platforms, roughly near where the revolving cube virus was. She rolled across the ground with a bit of flair, ending on her knees and with her arms outstretched. Fantastically, she didn't seem to have been hurt too much either, to the fanfare of her clone, who, lacking the agency to clap her hands at the moment, simply thumped her tail excitedly on the glass.

Charles sighed heavily as he slumped forward onto his desk. Looks like his worries were largely unfounded... Well, judging from Eris's previous shenanigans, a fall from that height seemed much less likely to affect her. The operator lethargically slotted in a couple of chips before he allowed himself to slide back onto his chair, massaging his temples in irritation.

The chips were quick to be received by Eris, whose body reacted quite explosively to the new armaments. Her back made a sloppy sound before it split open, revealing that one of her ribs had transformed into an extra limb. It quickly twisted itself out of her ribcage, as if eager to escape, before completely detaching from its host and hopping onto the ground, where it dissolved into the paneling. The extraneous arm appeared moments later near the Swordy viruses, erupting out of the ground as a frightening blood-red limb that had grown to almost twice its former size. The arm shot forward as if to grab anything that came its way before crashing its fist into the ground.

Eris's actual arms were also not to be left out of the show, as the vigorous muscular enhancement from earlier split open cleanly down the sides of her forearms. Scalding heat waves emerged from these cuts, which multiplied rapidly until her arms were covered in these organic "vents". She pointed them at the two rolling tank-like beetle viruses.

"Fire!" she announced, causing the vents to eject compressed bursts of superheated air, warping the air in front of her as they were fired.

Amidst the havoc of the opening engagement, and the cracking of panels, the Windbox to the side clicked off again, letting the gale die down so that the two ColdHead viruses could fire unimpeded as they clicked open in unison. A moment later, Asymptote's remote ally blasted the device from the net, never to bluster again.

Skyward, Eris was beginning to tumble back to the ground, streaks of black residue trailing from her form like macarbe streamers. They stretched and reached, flexing with a life of their own until the flows of blood-like substance had formed into a flickering facsimile of ragged wings, before suddenly being sucked in again at a rapid pace, leaving little trace that the effect had ever happened. It was hard to tell if the effect had slowed or protected her decent in any way, or whether Eris was just sturdier than she looked; either way the demon girl landed a moment later, rolling safely and coming upright right in the thick of the combat.

The two ColdHead sentries fired just as she hit the ground; one was aiming at the odd abomination that was waving happily to everyone around, blasting it into bloody black chunks of flesh that melted into the ground and snaked their way back to Eris herself while no-one was watching. The other tried to make a different shot, but the boiler just in front of its muzzle got in the way, and it resounded with an alarming clang that set the less than happy kettle to violent whistling. The two turrets sat clearing their muzzles for an extra moment, the frost caking their openings swiftly melting away — they'd close again soon, but not quite yet.

Meanwhile, the two Swordies, counting Asymptote as dealt with after he had tumbled down into the pit, turned and warped over to Eris instead, each making broad slashes at her. Still moving from her landing, the girl was able to avoid the first stroke, and to her fortune, the second missed of its own accord. Amidst the twisting of her nimble avoidance, however, her back split apart and one particularly free-minded rib broke free, ducking into the panels beside her, only to lance up again, and skewer both Swordies as they hovered in front of her, recovering from their swings. The shattering of glass accompanied the destruction of both viruses, and the scattering shards cut Eris herself in many places, leaving gashes that bled black over red in an languid fashion. the Cube nearby also took a portion of the fall-out, though the two ColdHead viruses were just far enough away to avoid the shrapnel.

With Asymptote still struggling to shake off his stun from before and climbing out of the hole he'd been dropped into, the Pulsebulb sentry only identified one main target to attack now, and zipped over to where Eris had just finished dealing with the other foes surrounding her. Its casing slid open and the sonic probe emitted another shuddering pulse that sent vibrations through her body and made her stumble for a moment. Just before it could close up again, however, the whistling of the kettle beside them both reached a peak and there was a dull thump. The shock-wave preceded the actual sound of the explosion, and the force rippled outwards tearing at everything around it in abroad radius of destruction.

The Coldhead at the epicentre was obliterated instantly, though the other one, at just the right angle to be shielded from the blast, seemed to survive. The Kabutank that had been trundling steadily closer was sundered before it could take its next shot, but the Beetank was slightly quicker and skidded back just out of range again in time to avoid a similar fate. The Pulsebulb, perhaps the most troublesome of the foes the duo faced, was caught with its mouth open, and the delicate internal parts were shredded by the explosion, while Eris, by fluke of her own positioning, was protected by the very same hard case that was meant to protect the virus that had just attacked her. The Cube also seemed to escape unscathed from the explosion, though exactly how was anyone's guess.

With the field mostly cleared, the Beetank tried to fire a round in Eris' direction, but the shot went wide as her explosively expelled fist clocked it brutally. Her other attack, in lieu of the destroyed Kabutank, turned towards the nearest other virus instead, trying to nail the remaining ColdHead before it closed its mouth again, but the adjustment wasn't quite precise enough and her attack missed.

Finally making his way out of the hole in the ground, Asymptote was at last ready to rejoin the fight, the thickened fleshy scar tissue of his outer skin bulked up and ready to ward off further harm while he healed up gradually. Just as he emerged, the cube in the centre of the area rose and began to spin faster again, once more settling on red and sending out a series of thin red laser beams. One struck the hulking mathematician, but it couldn't get through his skin, while another beam managed to make contact with Eris despite the way her form shimmered slightly as she staggered about, still a bit dazed from the Pulsebulb's attack and the subsequent blasting shock-wave. The third beam shot out towards the remote tower, but passed through a gap in the scaffolding and failed to connect. The pair were mostly done with the fight now, only a few foes remaining as Eris's totem shot her a quick bolt of restorative energy.

Asymptote climbed his way out of the hole he had dug for himself, grunting and grumbling to himself as he got back to his feet on...semi-solid ground, he could feel the ground about ready to crumble beneath his feet as he shifted his weight atop it. He saw his partner's boiler manage to clear out a massive amount of viruses from where he stood, and he took a laser to...his well, everything. Though his casing held, even as the viscous fluid that it held cushioned his damage, a very small leak sprung on the side, a very slow drip would start to dribble the thick fluid down it's side in very small amounts. Well...it wasn't a cannon to the face like last time...so I'll take it. he mumbled under his breath.

While Asymptote was standing there, however, the Twisty that had been controlling the tower and UFO decided to do something drastic on the last turn of it's existence for the battle. By climbing into it's own UFO, it began to zoom around at high speeds, whistling about the field as it looked for it's last target. Flying high above the field (and it's tower on auto, so if it's destroyed, it'll at least go out in a blaze of glory), and eventually taking aim at it's last target. The virus clicking and pushing things as it hovered over the DBLCube, a laser falling out and clicking into the bottom of the UFO, a beam of energy charging up briefly before a loud "BBBBZZAAAAAAAP" sounded out, a bolt of lightning falling down towards the virus at high speeds, an explosion of energy flooding from the panel it hit and breaking it.

Asymptote on the other hand, looked over towards the ColdHead that had left it's mouth wide open. With a grin behind his metal mask, Asymptote would happily traverse the field for the virus. Moving off the panel and hearing it collapse into the hole behind him as he moved, the navi took off at a heavy pace towards the virus, feet heavily falling down onto the ground as he moved towards it. Feeling the ground beneath his heavy stomps, the navi hauled his arm backwards behind his back. Elbow and forearm leveling out with the virus in front of him, he took his chance, punching straight ahead at the virus' open mouth before it could load up another ball of ice, or worse, close it's self again. And with that, attempted to punch the virus from inside out, massive fist not completely destroying the poor helpless virus in the process.

"Uwa-- geh!" exclaimed Eris as the combined force of the PulseBulb's explosive sound waves as well as the LittleBoiler kettle's actual explosion caused her to lose her sense of balance. Apparently she was also disoriented enough to lose her lunch as well, as she vomited out a good chunk of black fluids before stumbling backwards onto the floor. Lolling her head about, she was seeing stars as she laughed deliriously like a drunkard. Charles was hesitant to even interact with her, but at the last moment hazarded a small "Eris, are you okay...?"

"Wa-wa-wahaha... 'mokay. Jes' a lil' dizzy-- urp," said Eris, before another surge of black fluid drew itself up her throat. Before it could spill out her mouth, however, she forced it back down her throat and eliciting a tired sigh. Staring up at the ceiling above her for a couple of seconds, she blinked a few times before realizing something. "Oh yeah... Gotta geb back t'fightin'," she muttered, trying to get back up off the floor. Unfortunately, the amount of black fluid she had forcibly expelled earlier had made the floor quite slick, and soon she was stumbling about in her dizziness, trying to get out of it but failing quite spectacularly.

"Bweh, I'll jes wait..."

Eventually, she simply gave up and rolled around in the fluid lazily as the sounds of battle continued somewhere nearby. However, it was fairly easy for Charles to observe that Asymptote was already clearing out the final remnants of the viral forces, and so he allowed himself to exhale and relax a little. There wasn't any need to burden himself with trouble conjured up from thin air, all he had to do was ride this one out until Eris got tired of it through her own whims. "Or at least, I hope she loses interest. She seems to be getting tired, at least..." he muttered to himself.

Asymptote grunted as he rolled his shoulders, pulling the bloodied Gutpunch from the virus' corpse and disengaging his combat protocols for the moment as his body began to absorb the zenny that was his to take, along with some purple colored pieces of junk data, taking one and looking at it carefully. Hmmm...wonder what these are...never seen 'em before. He said, crushing it between his fingers and sending it to the PET, Joseph humming to himself as he grabbed the data from Asymptote. PET says they're called...Bug Fragments, bugfrags for shorthand. Looks like Support Programs and a trader use them. Joseph dryly said, continuing to tap away at his PET screen.

Huh. Interesting. Guess it wouldn't hurt to keep them around for either purpose then.
"... Hm? Oh, it's all quiet now," said Eris, sitting up from the puddle she had been splashing around in. The black residue was soaked up into her clothes, briefly causing her tube dress to stick to her body before her skin absorbed it all. Stretching out her limbs, she picked up a nearby bug fragment and started munching on it as she walked over to her partner, who also appeared to be examining some of the same purple fragments. Along the way, the voice of her operator echoed near her, though in the smallest whisper now.

"You look tired, Eris, you sure you don't want to come back?"

Rubbing one of her eyes with her free hand, Eris mulled it over before she mumbled, "I am getting kinda tired... but I wanna play some more. Maybe just one more battle." Eventually reaching Asymptote, she finished consuming the bug fragments she had picked up.

"That was pretty fun! Let's do one more, I'm getting kind of tired. Are you gonna eat those?" said Eris, eyeing some of the junk data fragments in Asymptote's hands.

[Battle 4 - Ready. Erysichthon.EXE: 140HP.]
Asymptote looked at Eris and shook his head. Ah, I was looking at it. They seem to be good for more than just being "food" I suppose.
I'll be keeping it for the moment.
Asymptote would respond, looking Eris up and down, she was a bit beaten up and tired, yes, but if she was ready to go regardless... Anyways, I'm good for another if you are. Lets get going then. He would say simply, gently ushering Eris towards a deeper part of the network, he figured they could take another fight or two before having to jack out from the damage.

The duo traveled deeper into the net to find a field of iron. Scattered like bushes across the whole field were numerous data cubes the size of storage crates. Behind over a dozen of these scattered cubes a bunch of viruses lay in ambush, spread out before them. There were two shadowy progs, their bunny ears crackling with electricity; at least three tanks of various sizes, a giant gloved hand, a spinning top with wings and magnet-hands, a short creature with an antenna and a floating drone, two floating pill-shaped viruses, a flying saucer painted racing red, a knight with an electric blade, and a currently grounded satellite.

DarkProgs are Mr. Progs cruelly corrupted and warped to become expendable soldiers. They appear mostly as normal Mr. Progs, but their face is much more darkly colored, and have glowing white eyes, as well as missing their left arm. They attack by emitting static around themselves. Handy Viruses attack by opening a dimensional gate below themselves, and dropping into it. The exit gate opens next to their destination, and they will rise out of it holding an explosive. This explosive is placed on an unbroken panel, and the Handy is free to move after. The use of gates does not count as teleporting, but can be used as a means of dodging as they attack. Gates are only used when attacking, and at no other time. Handy viruses will not set a new explosive until either a turn has passed, or they pass one action without setting a new bomb, whichever comes first. MagTect move and dodge at slightly above average speed. In spite of the fact that they have wings, and hover above the ground, they are still subject to the effects of the terrain below. Regardless, they are very dangerous thanks to their ability to exert control over enemy movements with pincer attacks and magnetic pull effects. They know how to use these effects, too. MagTects avoid liquid terrain types if at all possible, as they do not function well at all if forcibly submerged.

RedUFO (V1)RedUFO (V1) (ColorUFO)

ColorUFOs are able to temporarily steal chip data from their enemy, preventing the use of that battlechip until the end of the battle. ColorUFOs only attack once per turn, maximum, and spend the rest of the turn dodging. This attack is guaranteed to hit unless the target dodges when they attempt their attack, meaning it can be evaded with luck. The attack ignores every form of defence, including any form of stealth. ColorUFOs move and dodge at slightly better than average rates. They are capable of full flight. If there is no valid target with a chip for the UFO to attempt to steal, they will instead zap one target with a particle beam.

Special: Immobile outside of its primary attack.
Special: This virus will repeat its primary attack until it finds a target, after which it will be able to use its secondary attack once. When it changes targets, either of its own volition or its current target's death, or uses its Secondary Attack and lands in its original position, it must repeat its primary attack until it finds a new target.
Notes: Triggering invisibility or an illusion, or moving the Satellite forcefully after Lock-On is achieved does not allow a target to escape Lock-On. Lock-On is a shift in the Satellite's state, not a status inflicted on its target, and thus cannot be removed.

-- Battle 4 Ready? Start!! --
Asymptote stopped in his tracks as they came across a field of viruses and cubes of data ahead of them, looking back and forth, each virus seemed to be hunkered down behind a data cube, the inclusion of the UFO based virus as well as an inoperable Satellite only sitting on the ground in front of them. A lot of attacks would likely go in their direction, and unfortunately for Asymptote he only had a recover30 for healing, as well as his own signature attack. Defensive and preventative measures would need to be taken between the two of them before they could possibly begin to fight. Then an idea came to Asymptote. Eris could change the field around and give their enemies a bit of a hotfoot, he could hop around on the cubes to stay above the lava...and, failing that, he could always swim onto the field of metal leftover and provide some backup.

Hey, Eris. You know that trick you can do, making lava and all that? Any chance you could try to catch those viruses in it? Asymptote asked his partner, turning his head to her. Think about where you can set it off at, I'll follow suit and try to take out whatever viruses I can, be it from the metal panels or on the top of those cubes of data. He would say simply to her, turning back to the viruses at hand. Just try to keep on the move, lot of viruses, which means a lot of potential attacks coming our way. He would comment afterwards.

Joseph, mind sending the Minibomb you traded for? I'm gonna try to take out one or two of the viruses before they move. Asymptote would ask, Joseph tapping away at the PET. Careful though. That UFO will steal the chip data if you're not careful. Joseph responded, the chip coming in with a click into the PET.

Asymptote, knowing his chance to act was short before the opposition would get started on pelting them with attacks, quickly made his move. Moving himself towards his intended target, he would take off at a sprint. His footsteps heavy and clanging loudly on the metallic panels, he would take a chance to push himself off towards the left, leaping through the air in an attempt to evade any potential attacks that came his way as he rolled off further while summoning the weapon of choice in his clenched hand.

A blue, metallic looking sphere would soon come into his clenched fist. Small enough to sink into the palm of his hand, cold despite the warmth surrounding it. Asymptote would right himself onto his feet, and bring his arm back. With an aiming reticule and a gage showing his aiming trajectory, the navi would carefully calculate the bomb's path and with a flick of his wrist, sent the small sphere flying into the air in an arc. The bomb exhibiting a small glow around it while it was high in the air, before it fell towards the motionless Satellite virus, before letting out a small but powerful explosion in it's general area, scorch marks around it's area of impact.

Asymptote would quickly beat feet again from his current path, making his way behind one of the data cubes in the area, trying to fit his massive body behind it in an attempt to hide from potential attacks from the enemies. Meanwhile, his signature systems would begin to help Eris subtlely, helping her to hit her enemies in one way or another.
