Frio landed on the platform, and didn't waste anytime executing his signature ice cicle punch to the first CannonDumb. This attack came in sync with Layla uploading another chip, "Sending you the rageclaw1 now!"

The navi's new wepon materialized around his right fist. He took a step towards the second CannonDumb, letting loose a swift diagonal slash from the claws.

-------------------------------------------------------
Summary

2. [Icicle punch] 60 aqua damage + melee. [2 TCD] at CannonDumbA
3. Rageclaw1 [Damage: 40 + Slashing (Attack) OR 20 + Impacting (Throw) Accuracy: B / B] at CannonDumbB
Making his jump and landing with, understandably cat-like grace, Frio makes a quick strike against the first cannon before it can do anything. The second one was attempting to get a proper lock on the lion-navi, and Frio gave it all the help it wanted, jumping over and getting right up close and personal. Lock achieved! The cannon probably felt super pleased by this, for all of the remaining one and a half seconds between locking on, and Frio's claws raking around to brutalise it with a battle-ending slash.

As things stilled, Frio had a moment to collect his spoils while deciding how to progress. Having made it once, it was fairly safe to assume he could make the jump back as well, if he wanted, and continue on... but one side of the small platform he was on seemed to have a ladder attached to the side, descending down towards the glowing lights far below.

Frio jumped in excitement as he celebrated his victory. The zenny that was won, was downloaded and sent to Layla. "Good job buddy. Let's keep moving." She congratulated her Navi.

"Right! Ain't nothing gonna stop me!" Frio exclaimed as he pointed forward, standing in what he thought was the coolest pose at the time. "You hear that net! Frio is takin over."

---Requesting battle 4---
Nothing was going to stop Frio, apparently, apart from his own actual lack of movement in the first place. Content to stay where he was and explore none of his surrounds, the boisterous navi took time out to pose exultantly instead, and was greeted in turn by the sound of aggravated shrieking coking from the darkness below. the reverberation of many sonic pulses rumbled up through the supports of Frio's tiny platform, until a swarm of calling PulseBats raced up from the dark, crying out loudly as they flew past him.

They took to the sky all around him, surrounding his ledge, at it became easier to count; there were four of the bat viruses in total, and two of them dropped down to make a pass at him, screeching their sonic bursts to either side almost like threat displays, or perhaps warning shots.

A little further off, one from his right, and one from his left, two fishes had also show up to investigate the noise, and they watched cautiously, drifting back and forth slightly. Either that, or they were trying to line up an attack run. The rumbling from the bats' rise continued for a few more moments, until the outer ring around the missing gap fell away, widening the gap between Frio's small platform, and the rest of the area; the jump he had made before had been doable, with care... now it was very unlikely he could make it back, without a little luck and a lot of skill.

A small platform, on which Frio is standing, is in the centre of the area, with a broad ring of missing panels all around it, between that platform and the rest of the terrain. Making the jump back would be exceptionally difficult at this stage (but not impossible). There is, however, still the ladder available, leading down as well.

-=Battle 4, Start!=-
Frio seemed to find himself surrounded by a new swarm of enemies. He scanned the area around him, only to see there was only two options. To descend the ladder into the unknown, or to take the leap of faith back to the mainland. Either way, he needed to decide quickly on what should be done. So of course Frio turns to his operator for advice on the matter. "Ummm... So what should I do Layla?"

She was debating the two options herself but responded by saying, "Why are you asking me for? If it wasn't for your pointless posing, we could have moved forward without this hassle."

"It wasn't pointless.... I looked cool!" Frio snapped back quickly.

"Hurry, down the ladder. We will take our chances with that." The words came with a sharp tone, which caused Frio to act with great haste. He hurried to the ladder, and quickly began to climb down, if thats what it could be called. The navi would get his grip on one step, then with a little hop he would drop down a few feet, before again grabbing a hold of the ladder. This way the trip downward would go quickly... unless the viruses began attacking.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary

1. Quickly descend the ladder.
-Turn Splice-
Sometimes the best thing to follow a dramatic pose was, in fact, a dramatic exit. Frio elected to follow this mantra and made a quick descent of the ladder still attached to his precarious ledge. One of the fishies dashed in, swooping across the platform where he had been moments before, but Frio was already heading down into the unknown and leaving the viruses above to circle uncertainly. As he disappeared from sight, it seemed as though they didn't mean to follow him back into the darkness, though one or two probing sonic pulses followed him. There was the rustle and creak of the occasional falling panel, but otherwise sound seemed to die to a muted quiet along with the fading of the light. Up above, the PulseBats circled again, then swarmed up into a small cloud, apparently content to head on now that they were awake.

In the dimness as Frio descended the ladder, the glowing lights below became more pronounced - there were a few different shades, coming from different angles down below, but none of them were the colour that most fresh navis learn to associate with loot. Rather, the light was a soft yellow tone, coming from directly below and to his back, a deem, dark blue that almost seemed like no light at all by comparison, to his left, and a dull red that flickered every so often at random intervals, in the direction that would be straight ahead, if her were standing on the ground. Judging by the distance and angles of the lights, said ground was still a fair distance away, but if Frio continued to descend quickly, he'd get there soon. There seemed to be no lights at all on his entire right hand side, though it would be too hard to tell whether that was because it was solid wall, or a way he could go that was simply dark, until he got to the bottom.

Frio is on a ladder, climbing down a shaft - At this point a fall would likely not be lethal, and would simply result in a further shift of the setting, however it would probably be best to climb down or up in the normal fashion.

-=Battle 4, Pause!=-

((Movement has been such that an actual escape attempt, heading down, will definitely succeed now. If you wish to escape and keep exploring first, feel free. If you wish to escape and begin a new battle instead, just note that you're both escaping and searching for a new battle 4 in your next summary.))
Frio frantically sped down the ladder, the little bit of light he could see was the only motivation the navi needed to keep up the pace. His bounds downwards seemed to become increasingly longer each time he gripped the ladder, and let go. Net op, and navi both couldnt help but wonder what lied below the surface he had just left. Only time would tell, as he got closer and closer to the bottom.

((Requesting new battle 4))
Reaching the bottom of the ladder, only the glows and flickers of lighting from different passages served to illuminate the area Frio had descended into, as well as a very small ring of solar lights, directly at the base of the ladder. These were the source of the yellow glow, it turned out. The space felt cavernous, but there was a distinct impression that it ended in roughly circular walls only about twenty paces out from the column of the ladder. If he put his back to the ladder after touching down, Frio would find himself facing a high arched passageway that emitted a similar soft yellow light from somewhere further down. Now on his right, with back to the ladder, a smaller, lower crevasse in the wall gave off a distant, deep blue tint, visible only because the rest of the cavern was also dark. On the other side of the column, directly behind, a red lighting flickered erratically; it was coming from a square doorway that seemed much less organic than the rest.

All of this was very nice, of course, but the more pressing concern were the other shapes in the darkness down here with the cat boy. Near the red-flickering doorway, two very old constructs rustled to life and began moving towards him; They looked like a pair of old fashioned wood-heaters, complete with fire grate and smoke stacks, but the way their internal flames roared up was not a very cosy impression. Near the blue crack, a Miner made what sounded like it might possibly be a rude noise towards him, and then dug in its pouch for one of its trademark landmines. Just beside it, though it was hard to see in the dimness, a rather small metool was looking curiously between the Miner, and Frio. Rather than aggressive, this one just seemed a bit confused and uncertain about what it should do. there was one other shape, over the in darkest part of the round chamber, where no lights fell. A huge body emanated the sound of snoring.

"Well, lets get this started. Shotgun battlechip, download!" Layla didn't waste anytime sending her navi the first chip of choice for the new battle. "Lets make quick work here Frio."

"Roger that!" Frio was energetic, he moved on instinct alone, itching to finish the battle quickly as his owner commanded the navi took aim with the newly formed cannon that appeared in his right hand. It was dark, but it didn't bother the navi's vision much. Frio turned his sights to the right and focused on his opponents by the red door. After taking a breath or two the cannon boomed, sending a shot flying towards one of the stove like viruses, with a little luck he could take two out with one shot, but on the other hand a lack of luck would leave both of them standing.

"Good choice, I'm sending you another chip, use it wisely." The net op was calm as she sent the data for the Guard1 battlechip through the P.E.T. She knew defense was the last thing on her buddies mind, but atleast this would serve as a reminder. On the battlefield, the large yellow metool shield formed in Frio's left hand, he held it there, hoping to protect from any attacks that would come from the dirction of the blue crack.

2. Shotgun [Damage: 50 + Spread 1 Accuracy: A] at OldStoveA
3. Guard1 [Effect: (1 Hit Shield) + (Reflect(up to 60 + Piercing + Line Attack): On Hit) Accuracy: S]
It didn't take long for Frio, or his operator, to take stock of the situation he'd descended into, and make a move. The two old constructs were rattling towards him and the ever-eager navi greeted them with a healthy dose of shotgun. the blast ripped the first stove apart easily, but the angles weren't quite right for the piercing buckshot to make an impact on the second. In response, it opened its grill and let out a long gout of flame that roared brightly in the dark area. Fortunately, it roared brightly, just a bit off to Frio's left, missing the boy entirely, though it did seem to damage some of the terrain in a hazardous way.

Near the crack in the wall, the Miner disappeared underground for a few moments, then returned, having left its troublesome mine somewhere on the field. When it came up again, it made another rude-sounding noise in Frio's direction. Beside it, the little metool had been startled by the sudden outbreak of violence, and had opted to hide under its helmet for now. In the darkness, the large Teddy snorted and rolled over.

"Be careful Frio. There is no telling what that virus did. We need to reduce our enemies numbers!" Layla commanded, running another battle chip through the PET. It was the Cannon, a powerful blast had to be enough to finish off the next target.

Frio rushed towards the Miner, feeling it was best to get rid of its unknown attack first. Frio quickly closed the distance between he, and his newly chosen foe. He chose to first jab forward with an Icicle punch, following it up by immediately releasing the cannon blast at close range.

The blast cause net dust to stir, Frio wouldn't know the extent of what he did until it settled, upon finishing his attack he would refocus on his surroundings, ready to dodge or deflect the next thing that came his way.

----------------------------------------------------------

Summary:
1. Icicle Punch signature move 60 aqua damage. 2 TCD at Miner
2. Cannon battle chip (60 damage + Knockback Acc:A) at Miner
3. Dodge
Frio, attacking full force against the fully battle ready Miner virus, lunged into attack the weird looking creature, the enemy however does exhibit a solid idea of dodging to the side of Frio's telegraphed attack against it, but in turn managed to blast the Miner several meters back with a point-blank Cannon (60+Knockback). The Metool, rearing it's Pickaxe up in the air as the feline was otherwise occupied, attempted to rip through Frio's legs with the sharpened MetMetal and managed to hit right behind his left knee, but thankfully, there didn't seem to be any further damage from it (-10).

The OldStove, angry it's comrade was attacked and hit in such a way, let loose a belch of flames at the feline net navi as it moved forwards. However, the kitty's shield managed to save him from being fried to a crisp and let loose a counter attack going down the entire way, reflecting the damage he would have taken (-15) and, unfortunately for him, awoke an ancient evil that lay sleeping while the battle raged...HERE COMES A TEDDY BEAR'S SLAUGHTER! To say nothing else, his position seemed to take on a turn for the worse. The normal panels beneath his feet have become crumbly from the immense heat from the OldStove. Not to mention being sandwiched, more or less, between the two viruses. Perhaps a downside of attacking blindly and without a plan.

Frio managed to make it out of his thoughtless attack with minimal damage received. Layla was trying to consider the next option for them. Things were not looking to great. Her chip folder didn't give her very many choices, besides her navi wasn't the most patient when it came to working out a plan. "Don't be rash Frio. We need to come up with a way to get out of this mess."

The leo navi let out a short chuckle, and responded with confidence, "There is no mess here. We can... and we will WIN."

"Be careful with those cracked panels! I'm going to send more data now." She looked through the chip folder, pulling out the Varitails1, feeling that would be the best thing for multiple opponents. "Try and not get yourself deleted!"

On the battlefield, Frio readied himself for the next series of actions. The whip like weapon digitized itself into the navi's hand. However, that wasn't the first thing he had in mind. Frio took a knee and placed his free hand on the ground, let out a loud yell, "Ahhh!" In an instance, the cracked panels he was standing on, along with the ones that surrounding him switched them with the normal terrain in front of the Miner, Teddy, and Oldstove viruses. This quick switch, allowed Frio the freedom of movement once again.

"Woah! I didn't know you could do that!" Layla exclaimed.

"Well that's the whole point of us netbattling together, right?" Frio smiled, glad he could surprise his operator. He turned his attention back to the enemies, first lashing the whip out towards the miner hoping that its wild array of strikes would be enough to finish it. The lion turned to the left once again releasing the wild nature of his whip, this time the weapon would aim to eat at the rusty old stove's digital flesh. The second attack would take its toll on the whip however, causing Frio to toss it to the ground. Staying focus he was once again prepared to try and dodge the next onslaught of attacks that may or may not come his way.

Showing off his skills at moving the ground around with his innate powers, Frio managed to free himself of the unstable footing, and promptly used the opening to lash out at a few of the viruses. The Miner quickly fell victim to Frio's whip, but the second OldStove would not go down quite as easily. The remaining viruses' attacks quickly converged on Frio, with flamethrowers and shockwaves and claws galore, but his agility proved superior, as he dodged every single attack easily with his quick-witted dodging skills, while also luckily not triggering the belated Miner's previously-laid attack. The OldStove's flamethrower attack also caused a fair portion of the field to be shatter into pieces, creating holes through which the OldStove and Metool fell through.

This battle was one of Frio's toughest challenges to date. Unfamiliar territory against unfamiliar enemies. Even though he was managing to hold his ground, it was taking its toll. Layla could see this however, so she quickly sent him some support. "Sending you a recover30 now." She slotted the chip into her PET, following it up with her next weapon of choice. "Also use these claws to finish up the battle. RageClaw1 battlechip, download!"

Frio used the recovery chip as soon as he received the data. Even though it didn't heal much of the damage, the navi felt as if the world had been lifted off of his shoulders. Three long claws grew from each of Frio's hands. He would direct his first attack towards the fallen metool to his right. The lion like navi walked over to the hole in the ground. The small helmeted virus was all but defenseless after falling into the hole. Frio drove both of his claw covered fist into the hole towards the Metool.

"You're not my only target." Frio ran to the other fallen virus. The rusty ole' cooking machine had also fallen into a hole of decent size. The navi wasn't playing any games with him. He would proceed with trying to latch onto the OldStove virus with the claws, and with all of his might he would attempt to throw it into the angry virus that was still in the shadowy area to the south.

Frio healed his wounds with a chip (+30) and then moved to the small pit with the metool. It had landed upside down, like a turtle fallen on its shell. Its dark metool body was very exposed as Frio crouched down and shoved his claws deep into the metool's squishy body. The metool shrieked out in pain before dissolving into junk data.

Frio decided to risk running across cracked terrain, but thankfully it held under his weight. Also no mines were triggered on the path. When he reached the Oldstove in its hole, it tried to attack him with a line of flames, jetting out of the hole like a geyser. But it couldn't get a good angle on the navi and missed.

Then Frio stooped down and grabbed up the Oldstove and chucked it at the Teddy as it came out of the darkness. The heavy metal object struck the bear in the head and caused it to reel a little. The Teddy, very angry, ran at the navi and swiped at him with its claws. Unfortunately, the cracked terrain near Frio held and the virus got within melee range. The claws of the bear struck Frio and cut into the body (-20).

The claws dug into Frio's exposed body, but he took the blow like the champ he was. In reality, it was now bear verses lion. It was time to show the bear who the king of the jungle is. The frozen jungle to be exact. Now that the last enemy was in close range, with cracks all around them Frio decided to activate his Navi Customizer program. In an instance the battle field changed into a frosty wonderland.

Frio, being right at home on the ice, felt little need to dodge. Instead he wanted to release an all out assulat with his vicious clawed weapons. One fist lunged toward in an attempt to skewer the angry little bear. Then the other claw slashed upward with a quick uppercut motion. Finally if those two strikes weren't enough to finish the job, he would simultaneously slash out at the teddy bear with a "X" shaped cross slash.

Summary

---Free: Navi Customer: Set Ice
1. RageClaw1: Damage: 40 + Slashing (Attack), Accuracy: B at Teddy
2. RageClaw1: Damage: 40 + Slashing (Attack), Accuracy: B at Teddy

Winter lion vs. brown bear. Winter lion changes terrain to ice. Brown bear slips and slides and cannot get a good strike in. Winter lion slashes brown bear to death. Winter lion wins!

Also the mines explode somewhere, leaving the field bereft of mines.

"Good work!" Layla praised her navi with utter joy. The rewards they gained from all this busting has made it worth it. They could only wonder what was next. "Where do you wanna go Frio?"

Curiosity was killing the cat. What was behind door number one... well there was only one door so that didn't matter much. Both Navi, operator alike wondered what lay behind the mysterious door. Things couldn't be much spookier then the pit of darkness they had landed in currently.... Could it? "Let's take this direction." Frio ran to the door, and opened it. While he was doing this, Layla activated one of her minienergy subchips, so that Frio would be at one hundred percent for whatever came his way next.

(((Frio steps through the doorway of darkness and request battle 5)))

With the area around the ladder clear, and Frio free to check his options while his operator restored the damage he'd taken, the decision the both arrived at led the exploring navi to the less organic-looking tunnel, which the rusted old stoves had been resting to either side of before the cat's rival had woken them up.

The red lights that flickered every few moments in random patterns seemed to come from a series of low-hanging ceiling lights, with broad diffuse shades that cast the red glow over the tunnel's walls. It was a straight corridor at first, obviously constructed — sturdy support beams lined the walls every few paces, and the ground was reinforced with retaining boards. Places where it might have sloped up or down were instead graded with steps, created by the ancient wood joists and the packed earth. Every now and then a distant rumble sounded, or a small trickle of loose stone and earth rattled down one side of the wall somewhere along the passage.

Beyond the first turn in the passage, which began to bear to Frio's right in stages, there were enough of the lamp shades that the red glow was persistent; even when they flickered off briefly, there were enough other ones nearby that the red light never went away completely. Before long, the tunnel reached a slightly more open space. The shaft ceiling rose up, at least a good twenty feet, and the walls moved out, creating a broad, long room. As well as the ceiling lights now, the walls were lined with old-looking light bulbs, protected by metal cover cages. the sound of old filaments humming filled the air, broken by erratic fizzles and pops. One or tow of the lights had stopped working completely, but more than enough continued to function that the frequent flickers from individual bulbs never broke the overall diffusion of red light in the room.

The room itself had a few points of interest in it; towards the left and right sides, tall steps graded the chamber. Each was about as tall as Frio himself, and ran the length of the room. There were two on each side, and each step was about as broad as it was tall, creating three levels, in effect. these were also created just our of packed earth and retaining joists, though the walls of the chamber also had a decent amount of wooden boarding reinforcing them. The feel was like some very, very ancient mine shaft. Scattered about the room, a number of compact, dense-looking rock formations rested; in the dim red light it was hard to tell, but they didn't look like they were buried in the ground itself, and were simply sitting around on the surface, as though they'd been brought here for some reason. Each looked similar, and was made of a dark brown, stone that almost seemed to drink in the red light, creating balls of darkness. The individual facets of the stones were smooth, but the overall shape of each was fairly lumpy.

At the far end of the room, a heavy iron grate blocked the exiting archway, but through it Frio would be able to see a simple room with a storage cache made of black wood, with a hefty metal lock on the front. there was a sign board of some sort above the bench that it rested on, but from the far entrance of the room it wouldn't be legible. If he wandered into the space, he'd discover that there were a small selection of partially dilapidated boxes and crates scattered about the three tiers of the gallery, amongst the ominous rock shapes, but also what looked to be a barely functional steam-and-iron console machine, near the iron grate. A good look at it would show Frio a metal engraved instruction plate, as well as several throw levers and a dial that was jammed in place and broken. The metal panel read:

Quote (Vault Access Instructions)

Left hand release lever opens main gate.
Right hand release lever controls auxiliary systems.
To disarm, engage gate lever break and input authorisation combination before pulling.
Opening main gate without proper combination will automatically engage auxiliary systems.

As predicted, the left hand lever had a small secondary catch on the handle, which one would presumably grip along with the handle itself when pulling the lever. The dial was very clearly broken, and there would be no real way to input the 'correct' combination, but given the mechanical nature of the device, it seemed as though the gate would still open regardless — it would just activate whatever the 'auxiliary systems' were. The right hand lever, which presumably had some impact on the auxiliary systems, also had a secondary catch on the handle, and was in the lowered position at the moment, where a small red circle was displayed, painted onto the metal. The raised position had a similar circle, painted green.

If Frio came this close and looked more thoroughly through the bars, he's see that the lockbox looked to be in good condition and undisturbed, and there were a few smaller boxes under the table that might also contain goodies. The board on the back wall looked like it had some kind of storage record and a schedule on it, but the dates were from along, long time ago, but whatever was in there now seemed to correlate with it, and had never been formally checked out again. Provided he could get his hands on it, any loot in there was arguably free salvage for someone like Frio.
