My old mains were Roy, Link, and Donkey Kong in Melee.
So I figure Ike and Link, but I was thinking about switching out DK for someone else heavy, like DeDeDe or Ganondorf.

Ness, Mario, Olimar (for lulz only), Kirby, and Sonic. That is, unless another charachter proves to be a natural choice for me. I don't really know, not knowing their movesets completely.

For anyone in the U.S. planning to get the game at launch. Other than the rules listed there, I'm not to sure what goes. I'll be calling them in the near future to clear up details such as whether hidden characters will be unlocked to play and what method of control is going to be used.

According to my local Gamestop:
Controllers to be used for the tourney will be remote and nunchuck style.
1v1, 1 life, 1 minute tournament play battle.
Supposedly a fresh start game, so there will be no hidden characters playable.
The Battlefield will be the stage to be used.
I think that was all they left off the site when I last checked. Anything else?

As Hiko said, that's kind of the point. They want the playing field to be as level as possible. In any case, have you seen the grand prize? That definately makes it worth a shot.

Didn't the flyer say that there were prizes for each round? That would mean that those who could pass Round one would get stuff, and there are a ton of stores participating, so that'd be more than 11, if I have my facts straight.
