Monsterous Deeds (And huntings)

Asymptote exploded onto the network in a rather literal fashion, the network under attack by many a virus of all shapes and sizes. As the captain of the plane rattled off his instructions a second time, all the while other flashes of light resounded across the network in a various melody of shapes, sizes and colors as other navis beamed into the network of the now faltering plane. This is what happens when you travel coach, folks, shit hits the literal fan. Anyways, Asymptote punched the air and let out a growl of anger, rushing towards the nearest cluster of viruses, noticing not what the terrain under his feet was turning into.

Meanwhile, Joseph and Asymptote heard a few hushed voices as the plane rocked back and forth.

"Whose navi is that? The misshapen one."
"That guy in the glasses I think. Interesting custom navi he has there..."
"Like, it's gross, can we delete it with the viruses?"
"Don't go there girl. You NEVER go down that road."

(Battle 1, 170 HP, Maru-01 Bounty)
"TODAY'S FORECAST IS A THUNDERSTORM! YOU ARE ADVISED TO STAY INDOORS! INDOOOOORS!"

The screaming voice of a nearby Mr. Prog quickly drowned out the hushed whispers around them, which was yelling its head off amongst the cluster of viruses that Asymptote had found. However, its body was hunched over, it was missing one of its antennae, and its body carried a sickly pallor, different from its usual vibrant green. Surrounding it were a couple of electrical ball-shaped Maru viruses, hovering above accompanying smiling Cloudy viruses, making it look like they were paired into a single virus. Below the sickly-looking Prog, a purple Poison panel bubbled with toxic fumes, and cracked panels radiated away from it in a wide circle, which Asymptote realized that he had stepped into. Scattered about the cracked paneling were a few gleaming HolyPanels, which seemed to have protected a few regular panels beside them from the cracked flooring. On top of one of these HolyPanels, a rotating Green Mystery Data revolved quietly off to the side.

Maru-01Maru-01 (Maru)

Maru are rather small floating spheres of electricity, with two beady black eyes. They never appear solo, and will always have at least one other Maru at their side. While they're exactly as sturdy as one would expect from a ball of electrical energy, they can inflict bugs with their electric shocks. Maru are highly intelligent for being what they are, and love to combine tactics with others of their kind to make sure they each get to shock the enemy at maximum efficiency. Their small size and ability to move in any direction makes them extremely hard to hit.

DarkProgDarkProg (DarkProg)

DarkProgs are Mr. Progs cruelly corrupted and warped to become expendable soldiers. They appear mostly as normal Mr. Progs, but their face is much more darkly colored, and have glowing white eyes, as well as missing their left arm. They attack by emitting static around themselves. While they are fairly strong attackers, especially in groups, they have poor endurance, which is only exacerbated by the fact their attacks harm themselves. They very rarely dodge, but will often try to move close to the enemy before attacking.

-- Battle 1 Ready? Start!! --
Asymptote stood against the viruses that he found, two electrified puff balls, two viruses in the shape of clouds...and a DarkProg. Joseph was rapidly tapping away at his PET as he moved screen after screen to the side, all they needed to do was help control the virus population for the moment, right?

You catch visuals of the viruses Asymptote? I'm running blind for the moment, a lot of popup screens came up and I'm managing them as we speak. Joseph said hurriedly, looking at one screen as it popped up for a second, before shooing it away for another. I've got five in front of me right now. A DarkProg, Two Cloud viruses and...two Maru Zero-Ones, the latter viruses are on the bounty we took. They're lined up, but I'm not sure how long that will last. The field is a mishmash of Holy, Poison, Cracked and Normal panels. The viruses did a lot of damage to the networks. I'm about to move in to attack. Asymptote analyzed, his situation turning more and more grim as the seconds passed by.

"That's the normal Netopia network, you amateur!"

A voice popped up towards the front of them, apparently some of the passengers had eyes on them despite the crisis. Well, excuse me for not having the money to go on a cross-country trip for the past ten years! Joseph pipped up in defense as Asymptote just grumbled under his breath. Though taking a second to notice the GMD off to the side, just hovering on a nearby panel of Holy, so it had effectively double it's meager HP. But he needed to move fast, beating feet from his current position to an area of Holy that was away from the GMD that had spun about. His feet quickly stomping forwards as he rushed as quickly as he could from his starting spot of the battle field, any cracked paneling that had the unfortunate luck of being in his direct path crumbling away into a hole underneath. He had to work fast, and his netop getting distracted by the other passengers chiding of his unfamiliarity of the networks surrounding Electopia.

JOSEPH FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST, DON'T GET DISTRACTED AND GIVE ME A CHIP! THE NEW ONE! THE ONE FROM THOSE ELECOGRES IN SCILABS! Asymptote shouted out boisterously at his netop, damn near giving everyone around him a heart attack from the sheer loudness of his gruff voice from the tiny PET screen. Joseph would nearly jump at the noise from his PET, but regardless held his composure (heart attacks not withstanding) and slot the chip into his PET, along with the Crackerbomb that they got earlier, he hoped it would be enough to clear out the viruses but something told him he'd have to wait and see on that. But seriously they need to pay us teachers a higher salary, we make peanuts compared to most careers. Joseph mumbled under his breath and crossed his arms as the plane took another rather rough knock against it, causing a couple passengers to get uprooted from their seats and fall onto the floor.

With the two chips downloaded to his core and a rumble on the network right after he had stopped moving, a large wooden crossbow with an electrified arrow notched into it would appear in Asymptote's hands. A small scope then materializing on the back end of it, right above the arrow that crackled and hissed with electrical energy, crackling out of the holster it was notched into briefly. Getting down onto one knee and taking the crossbow into both hands, one on the bottom front of it and one on it's handle and massive finger wedged tightly into it's compartment and firmly locked in the trigger, Asymptote would steady the weapon on his shoulder, holding tightly to the grip as he mumbled to himself. May god's thunder crash down upon ye sinners of the net, let loose this arrow from it's notch and may it strike true against my enemies. Asymptote whispered to himself, almost prophetically as he aimed down the cross-hairs, one eye closed and the other steadying against his intended target. With a quiet 'click' the arrow was loosed upon his foes, the arrow rocketing at the DarkProg like a bolt of lightning, along with two crashes of thunder potentially on either side as if the gods of thunder let loose their wrath upon the unlucky viruses that Asymptote had decided to hunt, brief flashes of light could only be seen by the onlookers and went quiet as quickly as the thunder had come.

Still with spots in his eyes as the crossbow had broken apart and disintegrated into junk data, the brute of a navi had another attack up his non-existent sleeves. With a grunt, a simple round object would materialize into his hand. The weapon rounded like a lump of flesh would probably gross out most people, pulsating and undulating in the navi's large hand. But a soft hissing could be heard by the navi, a grin behind the mask as a cursor would appear in the back of his hand, the navi calculating the distance of the weapon in his hand with possible courses of throwing it and possible targets still in the area, he would soon blink and let loose. His hand flinging the weaponized tumor-looking object in his hand towards where the DarkProg had been standing, thinking it might be the best way to attack his clustered opponents. The tumor splattering poison briefly around the area, miasma filling the area around for a second as the weapon sunk into the poison...only for everything within the blast radius to explode into a mushroom-shaped cloud around it. The paneling around in the blast radius being obliterated as he wordlessly watched on.

And just before anything else could happen. Asymptote would "slip" back into the armor he had been putting on a lot around his earlier partner. His skin bubbling and blistering around the hardened and scarred exterior of his body. Bubbles of pus and other various fluids beginning to expand and grow around his form. Eventually these bubbles began to merge into each other, each of them squishy and wet around his body until he had the perfect "armor" to protect against attacks, easily bouncing back and forth as the navi's torso it's self had become what one could call "a massive and disgusting boil".

While his operator fought off accusations towards his level of intelligence, Asymptote had more pressing issues at hand. Starting off by relocating himself to a more favorable position, he then released a crackling arrow of lightning, roasting the erratic Prog and its Cloudy cohorts relatively quickly, though the Cloudy managed to get a pair of rainclouds that slowly marched down towards him. The Maru that were left behind quickly fired off electrical discharges from their bodies, but they only managed to rattle off of Asymptote's fleshy exterior (-7x2) before he tossed a lump of flesh that erupted in a small area, disintegrating them as well. The rainclouds that had been summoned mostly just destroyed his makeshift "armor" of fluid bubbles, leaving him relatively unscarred, with five less viruses in front of him, and one possibly reward-packed crystal.

Asymptote grunted as he began to hurriedly collect his rewards from the fight, grabbing intact data and sending it to Joseph before walking over to the GMD carefully, panels cracking and crumbling away as he did. He looked over it with a grumble, sighing inwardly to himself as he felt the radiated glow of the holy panel beneath him. Looking back and forth, he would begin to crack the MD's data, readying himself for a potential Mimic to pop out and try to kill him again.

(Open GMD)
Asymptote trailed across the cracked terrain, and accessed the Mystery Data's crystal. The crystal's structure shifted about rapidly before it revealed its contents to be a slightly smaller green crystal. The smaller data crystal bisected itself before a plume of smoke burst out from the opening, revealing it to be a Mimic. At the same time, a few beams of light appeared around the area as the Mimic summoned fellow viruses to aid it in its assault against the unlucky Navigator. Slightly to the side, a pair of statue-like single-eyed knights materialized, brandishing huge swords, while further towards the back, a rocky golem smashed its fists together in preparation. Behind one of the knight statues, a small raccoon virus peeked out, readying itself for the battle as well. Finally, a ball of electricity wandered into view atop the Mimic itself.

-- Viruses --
Green MimicGreen Mimic (Mimic)

A Mystery Data bisected horizontally, with a shadowy core binding the halves together. Two menacing red eyes leer out from the shadows in the crack between them, and a swirl of dark energy of the same color as the data whirls around the entire virus constantly. A Mimic only spawns if an MD is present, and the roll to check contents comes up as a Trap. The MD then becomes a single Mimic. Mimics do not ever appear otherwise. Once triggered, a Mimic either mass summons Viruses, Navis, or other Battle Programs for the next battle number, or mass teleports all allies to the location of the next battle (which is always within the same network area), and the battle begins immediately. These mass summon and mass teleport abilities are unique to Mimics, and cannot be emulated. When a Mimic is defeated, it reverts to MD form. At this point, it becomes ethereal, and cannot be damaged in any way.

BandcoonBandcoon (Bandcoon)

Bandcoons are gray raccoon-like creatures, around 30 inches in height. They possess black stripes around their body, aside from their short, almost stub-like legs. Their faces are usually unseen, as they're covered in a red mask with string decorations. Their tails are twice as long as their actual bodies, and are usually curved into a question mark shape. At first this may seem like a simple design choice, but the tail is actually prehensile, and Bandcoon cleverly use it to steal chip data from Navis. Bandcoons' speed and small size combine to make them surprisingly difficult to hit while moving, and are even agile enough to turn sharply with little problem. However, if caught standing still, they're practically sitting ducks. However, when they're not using chips, they always prefer to move when possible. Their main tactic is to roll around and confound the enemy with their speed, then move in and swipe them with their tail, using it like a hook to grab data not directly tied to them, namely Battlechips. They can then use it themselves, at reduced power, as a free action. All other effects of the chips still apply, including pre-requisites to use the chip (i.e. Spice still needs Grass terrain, MachineSword still requires that the enemy be stunned). Higher level Bandcoon are aware of such conditions, and will try to satisfy the requirements if at all possible. If the enemy has no Battlechips, Bandcoons get extremely aggravated, and will ram an enemy in anger and desperation. However, they severely dislike doing this, and will only use this attack as a last resort for when they have no chips.

CraggerCragger (Cragger)

Craggers are pretty easy targets, given their size. They also move very rarely, and when they do they move slowly. Their dodge rate is abysmal. They generally rely on their HardBody defense, which reduces non-break damage by half, but doubles break damage. They have high attack power and AoE, but their accuracy is generally bad as their attacks are easy to follow and take time to deliver. Their attack is executed as a Drop Attack, and thus attacks from above, and not head-on. Targets caught underground within this attack's AoE range take an additional 50 Null damage that ignores all defenses.

-- Battle 2, Ready? Start!! --
Asymptote grunted and grumbled under his breath as he stepped backwards from the GMD as it unloaded it's pay loa- was that a second green crystal in there? Was that green crystal bisecting it's self and sending out a cloying burst of smoke around the area!? It was at that moment, Asymptote knew he had fucked up. Oh fuck me...not again... He mumbled under his breath, in an almost pitiable way. he knew he should have passed that GMD up. He knew he could have just dragged it around with him until Joseph could have bummed an Untrap off someone. But he just couldn't help himself, could he? Was he just a glutton for punishment? Or was he a masochist deep down? Either way, he had another battle to deal with, even as the plane rumbled outside with another wave of turbulence.

Asymptote...why am I getting a mimic on the PET?! Joseph sent hastily to his navi as other things happened on his PET screen in the background. Asymptote sighed to himself as he could only nod quietly at Joseph's typed up words before sending some back to his netop as quietly as he could...he did still have an audience to "appease" after all. Ringzap, Crackerbomb, DashAttack. I have a lot of work ahead of me if I want to survive.

Joseph sighed as he sent the requested chips to Asymptote as quickly as he could, but not before a couple murmurs could be overheard.

"Ugh. Opening a GMD without an untrap? Must be a new navi!"
"Seriously, but at least a few viruses got diverted towards him instead of the others."
"Can he even handle it? I doubt he's all that sturdy. I read Mimics are hard to fight."

Asymptote grumbled loudly as the words met his ears, he only shook his head. He's fought them before, but not alone like this. Let alone on a battle field that he wasn't able to completely freely move around on. But he couldn't simply let them talk about him behind his back without trying to show them up. With his data downloaded, he quickly found it wouldn't agree with him as much as he would have hoped. The navi groaned out in pain as two bolts began to grow out from either side of his neck, rusted and bloody metal that crackled and hissed immensely with electricity, growing hotter and hotter internally before a crack and boom of thunder struck the monstrous navi. In a cartoony fashion, as he twitched and throbbed from the electricity that crashed into his body, his simple skeletal structure flashed as he struggled to contain the electrical power within his body. But as control escaped from him, the navi created two serrated rings of electrical power that hovered and circled around his body rapidly, ready to give a shocking sensation to those that dare to approach him in bare knuckle combat.

Right afterwards, a small metallic sphere formed in his hand, nearly featureless outside of the obvious scrap metal it was made out of and a shoddy blue paint job sprayed atop it, the navi growled as his eyes began to focus immediately on his targets. Two viruses that he had never seen before, coded with the name of the moniker "MonoSword", he would begin to take his aim towards them. Bringing his arm backwards, multiple things popped up in the back of his head, a cursor showing where the bomb might land as well as a power meter. His arm proceeding to fling the weaponized sphere forwards, cutting through the net's air briefly before hitting solid ground not far from his intended targets, an explosion rocketing through the area as any panels caught within it's wake were practically obliterated or became broken.

Inhaling deeply as he quickly plotted his path across the broken and shattered terrain around him, the navi would immediately start making for a mad dash towards the south-western part of the field. His heavy footsteps crashing down on the panels in his way, each and every cracked panel falling away into a gaping hole beneath, the navi would make a mad leap to at least line up the viruses in his way.

With it, a green cape immediately wrapped around his neck, ignoring the jagged edges that flowed around his body as he got into his position. His body clenching up as he let out an animal-like roar, thrusting himself off the panel he was on by his feet as his body began to twist around in the air, slowly gaining speed as his head remained static in the middle of his twisting form. Faster and faster his spins grew until he became a near literal tornado of flying fists, rocketing off at high speeds towards the line of foes he had tried to hit. Asymptote's flying storm! he shouted off amidst his flight through the air, his fists extending past the tornado he had rocketed off inside of, head poking out of the top of the whirling tornado of attacks. Flying off as far as the chip would let him before finally ending it's self before too much longer, the navi sliding to a stop on his feet and turning around to see what viruses were left in his wake.

--->Attempt to hit Bandcoon, Cragger, MonoSwordA&B, Mimic (+1 Take Aim)
As Asymptote's neck projected some lightning-producing bolts of rusted metal, starkly reminiscent of a certain classic literature piece, the viruses went into action. The Mimic quickly started off the assault by splitting open the pointy end facing Asymptote, where a ball of energy was revealed, rapidly growing in size. However, some interference prevented it from growing past a rather small size, before it fired towards Asymptote's body, dealing a relatively marginal amount of damage. (-13) Meanwhile, the MonoSwords were getting into range, teleporting into his face and swinging their thick, huge blades at his limbs. One of them merely shaved past his elbow, while the other impacted painfully into his shoulder. (-20) They were rewarded for their proactivity with the Navi's serrated electrical rings.

Then, as soon as he brought out his CrackerBomb, a plucky little Bandcoon would suddenly show up next to him, scaling about his horribly muscled body to nab the bomb away from him. It stole away to a safer place, however, as the nearby Cragger's rocky fist came crashing down, and it threw the bomb it had smuggled away from Asymptote as well. A small bit of luck would still be on Asymptote's side, however, as he had already moved away from the site of impact, and the combined attacks opened a gaping hole in the field. One of the MonoSwords to fall into the created hole, while the Mimic's gleaming panel protection cracked from the sheer force of the explosion created.

Then, Asymptote activated his final card for the bout, which was his DashAttack, causing him to careen across the battlefield with great impunity. His attack prompted a hail of attacks from the ball of electricity hovering over the Mimic, but only one managed to impact him. (-15) Meanwhile, the targets he was aiming for turned out to be a fair amount from the viruses, including the Mimic, one of the MonoSwords, and the Bandcoon from earlier. The Maru and Mimic received retribution for their attacks while Asymptote was in proximity with them, but they were by no means down for the count. Meanwhile, the MonoSword and Bandcoon hit were out of the park. Unfortunately, in a small bit of bad luck, his flight landed him on a particularly unstable patch of land, and he fell through the paneling.

The Maru's attack from earlier began to seize up his body after he fell in, halting his movements for a moment as he began to feel pins and needles all over his body, the feeling somewhat similar to an arm or a leg that had fallen asleep.

Throwing nothing but air, the navi would grumble under his breath as he continued to move, panel after panel cracking under his feet as he got into position. Throwing a cape around him, he rocketed off at high speeds and clipped three of the viruses with it, deleting two, injuring the Mimic and getting one of the puff balls known as the Maru-01 in the process. Though it wasn't all fun and games for Asymptote. He had careened off course into an open hole and, despite clipping the other Maru with his electrified rings, he in turn had been zapped mid-flight. He was ass deep in the hole, on his back and an electrical current jolted his body, hitting every last nerve ending it could, pricking, stabbing and hurting him all over. As he very slowly managed to get to his feet, he stumbled forwards in the hole. Feeling as though his entire body, while responsive, was half asleep with the pricks and electrical needles pricking into his body, he felt sluggish and clumsy.

"hahahaha! Look at that brute! He stumbled into a hole without even trying!"
"Hey, nobody can predict these things girl. He might have-"
"Oh shut up! Stop making excuses for the monster! He deserves what he gets! We have more navis out there, who cares if one gets-"
"Shut yo mouth! He's at least doing something, bitch! With that nose so high in the air, I'm pretty sure you'd drown if it rained."
"WHAT DID YOU SAY YOU NI-"

Asymptote's mind swam as the occupants looked over his battle. Some only saw humor, others at least saw someone doing something to help keep the plane on track. But even through it all, he saw red. Was he really -that- bad? Was he that big a deal? There had to be worse looking navis, right? But a flash of a kind face came through his mind. He wasn't about to let people mock him. He was going to show them something they couldn't mock...and with it, a blaze of energy flooded Asymptote's body. And two words flashed across Joseph's PET screen. Cross Activated

Joseph's eyes went wide as his navi's form shrank down from it's bulky, oversized form to a much more compact, athletic form. Shrinking down by a good few feet, just under the five foot mark. His body covered by an emerald bodysuit like his partner's, as well as a copy of her navi-crest under his pectoral and, with a hinge added at his mask, a jagged and very rough "lower mouth" could be clearly defined. His legs shrinking to an athletic runner's and his muscles, while clearly defined, were far more smaller and...his body became more feminine as a result. This caused several passengers in coach to open their mouths agape in amazement. Asymptote's eyes, more a calm ocean of emerald blue than the blood red of his previous "form". But as the transformation happened, a tail began to sprout from where his tailbone would be at, slowly coiling up from behind him as it had black scales and "fuzz" covering the length of it before the end began to grow, engorging it's self by several magnitudes a clearly defined mouth began to form, and with it, a floppy broad red tongue poking out of the side of it, much like a large dog's. Asymptote's wounds and the saliva of the tail maw began to drool out a garbled mess of code, white and black in color with ones and zeros clearly defined in the syrupy looking "excetions" of both tail and master.

Mmmmm...still sluggish...but...I feel so much better... The navi murmured under his breath, he was still not in peak form like he wanted to be, but considering his current situation, he wasn't about to complain too loudly. Though as his thoughts rolled through his head, a slimy, syrupy substance began to drip onto his head, base code starting to fuse into his body as the glitchy base substance began to fuse into his code, even if it was temporarily. H-Hey! What the hell!? he shouted, as he looked up at the tail that had been created with his cross, getting an eyeful of the glitchy substance in turn. The navi flailing about as he couldn't see for a brief moment before wiping the goop from his eyes. Oh...right. She had one of these as well, didn't she? I could do without the base cod- wait is that a two? Asymptote asked himself before Joseph slotted in a chip for the now less hulking navi, a Cannon to help him get out of his predicament.

Asymptote, shaking his head, began to upload the chip data into his body. Only...his tail quickly snatched the data from his system for one reason or another as a rumble shook through his body, a growl from his stomach. Mmmm...need something to eat...before I get out of this hole... Asymptote mumbled as he looked around, looking for something, anything to shovel into his mouth. When his quick "search" turned up nothing, he turned to his hand. Wiggling it about briefly before, with a shrug of his shoulders, opened his mouth widely, showing off the three full rows of jagged and sharp teeth in his new "mouth" and with a sickening and very loud crunch, ripped his hand off. Noisily, he crunched at the digital palm and his digits, several passengers about vomiting from the display as both blood and his basic code flowed out of both mouth and wound. His stump left behind with a white "bone" sticking out from where his wrist would be at, the code slowly formed around the stump of a limb as he finished eating his hand. The bone, flesh and muscles swiftly reforming from his base code, Asymptote couldn't help but laugh at himself. Hehehe. On demand finger foods...gotta remember that. He chuckled, several loud groans coming from the passengers around them he couldn't help but laugh to himself.

But before he could try to admonish his tail for eating the chip data that he was about to use, wriggling his newly reformed hand, the tail began to twitch and react violently to the data inside it. Asymptote's body reacting in turn, began to try and calculate what was about to happen. The aiming he had last turn, he began to try and force the tail downwards as bile built up inside it, and with it to try and control his trajectory out of the hole. Rumbling about before finally, with a loud gagging noise, a torrent of bile escaped Asymptote's tail, lifting him upwards with great force equal to the cannon chip that he had tried to use earlier. But thanks to his quick thinking, he had managed to aim it down far enough to avoid smashing his skull on the walls of the hole and, with it, at a trajectory that would hopefully bring him south enough to hit a patch of land that would keep him from falling into more holes.

Finding himself in a hole, yet again, Asymptote took a moment to remind himself of other bright and bubbly monstrosities out in the world, and had a bite to eat. The odd corruptions running through him at the moment stabilised in a vague sort of way; he still couldn't move as easily as he could before the previous glitch, but an odd feeling seemed to be making his body inclined to jerk and shift in unexpected ways, and with a little effort he could probably control it, for a while at least.

While he was taking a breather in the pit, the other viruses weren't immediately sure how to respond. the Mimic was biding its time, and for the moment the nebulous cloud of gas drifting about it formed into a defensive barrier. The Maru drifted closer to the hole that Asymptote had fallen in, creeping up to the edge and waiting for him to emerge The MonoSword, meanwhile, was stuck in a hole of its own, and after one or two disgruntled sounds, it teleoported out, appearing opposite the Maru on the other side of Asymptote's pit.

Unfortuantely for both of them, ther quarry wasn't waiting around, and with a pronounced blast, the sometimes-wrathful mathematician came rocketing out of the hole and shot up and over past both other them on the blast wave of his cannon shot. Neither had time for an attack at him, but the Cragger, who had simple been slow to respond, was already bringing a new fist down on the area in its efforts to keep hammering at him. the fist misses Asymptote as he went flying away, and though it didn't hit either the Maru or the MonoSword either, it did shatter another section of the cracked ground, which fell away. The Maru kept floating as the ground disappeared from under it, though it did turn to look at the Cragger curiously. The MonoSword was not so lucky, promptly tumbling down a second time. It made a gabled viral sound as it fell, and though Asymptote wouldn't be able to understand exactly what it was shouting, he could likely understand the sentiment very well.

For his part, Asymptote landed and tumbled roughly across the ground. A couple more cracked panels fell in behind him, but he managed, just, to catch himself on the edge of one undamaged normal panel and pull himself up.

Asymptote let out the single word that had defined his entire existence up to this point, as his mind raced as he was propelled into the skies with glitch covered bile, narrowly avoiding attacks that had been brought against him. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- He shouted, flying through the air like a graceful vomiting bird, managing to crash against the cracked panels, sliding to a complete, loudly grinding, stop at one corner of the battlefield. A black skid mark lined up behind him as he raised his head up and let out a cackling laugh that could only be described as...EYAHAHAHAAAAA! as he managed to pull himself up to the panel before the previous one gave away.

"Jesus. Talk about losing your lunch."
"He's still alive though...wait. Where'd those two arguing people go to?"
"No idea."

Joseph could only shake his head at his navi as he picked himself up off the ground, his body jerking to and fro as he tried to keep himself from falling off the uncracked panels that he had managed to find purchase with. He could see the viruses away from him and watched the new type of virus fall into the hole, letting out what Asymptote could only assume to be a mass of profanities. And then his attention turned to the Cragger that had been unmoving and been raining death down upon him since the battle started. Airshot. Asymptote would ask of his netop, the netop happily obliging his netnavi for the tool.

As Asymptote managed to repress the jerking that he was feeling left and right he tired to avoid moving. Kneeling down as his tail began to drool upon him despite every effort to push the needy thing away from him so he could get his shot off. A scope began to appear in the air above his hands as a cylindrical canister began to form below it, the weapon with a baby blue coloring to it as various bits and pieces were obviously salvaged from a junkyard, pieces of wiring and metal sticking out from the weapon he had summoned. Aiming down the makeshift sights that had come with it, he took aim at the Cragger that sat towards the back of the battlefield and with a single click, a pressurized stream of air burst out of the weapon with a simple "Puff". Though it seemed weak, the blast of air traveled quickly and hopefully, would strike the pile of sentient rocks at such an angle to eject the golem from the field and, hopefully, send it towards a more capable navi to end it's existence.

With his body only somewhat obeying him and possibly more interested in snacking on itself than his enemies, Asymptote opted to try and cut down on his problems by sending the one he was less equipped to handle off to other navis, if he could. His body healed rapidly while he lined up the shot, and as it did he could feel a source of renewed strength far greater than before flooding into him. He also seemed to be turning a very, very bright vermilion-pink, but that didn't seem to do much beyond look fashionable.

Just as he fired, the Mono-sword that had fallen down warped up again, arriving on the holy panel just beside Asymptote. Fortunately, that seemed to have exhausted its strength for the time being, though it looked very annoyed ad consistently being dropped in holes. The Maru turned its gaze towards Asymptote as he released the shot, though it hadn't acted yet, and the mimic was biding its time, but the Cragger raised its fist to call down another strike on the mutated navi. Or, it would have, if not for being blasted in the face by a jolt of compressed air that flung its great rocky body backwards and away.

It landed with a crash, rolled over once, and then the floor gave out from under it, dumping it into a pit. Other navis were closer to the slightly dazed stone creature now, and they'd probably take care of it if he left it alone... but Asymptote himself could still chase it down and finish it off if he wanted to, at this stage.

Asymptote had managed to mostly-successfully eject the virus from his battle, but he now had a more immediate threat in the form of the Monosword that had landed in his area. Right next to -HIS- holy panel to boot. He wasn't happy the bugger had done that, but he could easily remove it and get it out of the way so he could take it for himself. Gutpunch, Joseph. Asymptote simply said, as Joseph would slot the chip in immediately afterwards. There was no need to be fancy here, he wanted his spot, and by god, was Asymptote gonna get it.

With the chip data downloaded, Asymptote's hands began to engorge and grow. Yellow Met-Metal began to cover his hands, a green Plus sign on the backs of his hands as they formed. The joints rounded out like the guard chips that the most meek denizens of the net would drop or give upon their defeat, though jagged and sharp, red stained spikes jutted out of the fists that had formed around his mammoth hands in turn. Asymptote flexed his fingers briefly before glaring at the armored virus. And with his arms held back, he swiftly tried to punch the armored virus off of HIS Holy panel, attempting to push it north of it and onto the normal panels ahead of it. With it away, he quickly followed up, rushing at it and jumping into the air, both fists crashing into the ground like a hammer above the virus' body and causing a small rumble in the area around him, a circle of cyber dust flowing around the impact area as the dust settled, weather or not the virus was dead was otherwise not worth worrying about at the moment.

Afterwards, his body began to jerk left and right, but thankfully, Asymptote would manage to keep the glitch under control, despite his body starting to glow with enveloping power from the extra glitch, not even noticing his discoloration, would move himself backwards towards the Holy panel in an attempt to fight back and tank the damage that he would probably take in the next couple moments.

Asymptote's body morphed to fit the new chip that he had received from Joseph, while the remaining viruses sized him up to unleash their attacks. The Maru crackled with energy as it fired a taser round towards him, shocking him with its electrical current. (-15) The current began to mess with his regenerative process, with parts of his muscled body beginning to quite literally melt off of his body, falling off of him in great globs. Undeterred, he gave the MonoSword next to him a good slugging, managing to destroy the statue-like swordsman with ease. The Mimic then unleashed its own attack, which was a green laser beam fired out from a tiny ball of light next to it. Fortunately for Asymptote, he managed to swerve out of the way of the attack just in time.

Asymptote spasmed as soon as the Maru inflicted another round of glitches on him. And inside, he knew he couldn't heal nearly as much as he thought he could, the data being blocked by the glitch that now coursed through his body. The navi was less than pleased at this. A roar of anger bellowed from his throat as he still recovered his energy, but not as much as before. His finger foods failing him, his eyes became locked onto the mimic and Maru, he intended to end the fight right here and now, even if it wound up blowing up something in the distance.

Joseph. I require the FireBurner, Heatshot and ElecReel1. I will blow up everything within this area or so god help me I will die trying. I'm not pussyfooting around anymore. Asymptote relayed to Joseph. His tailmaw drooling upon him some more, his body absorbing the coding much akin to a sponge. All the ones, zeros and twos would be absorbed into his body, Asymptote didn't make much care about how it would affect him this time around. He knew he had the firepower to simply nuke the viruses off the face of the net, barring the Cragger he managed to blast into a hole, he was going to finish this in a blaze of glory.

As the requested chips began to load into the PET, Asymptote began to move, pins and needles stabbing and poking at his entire body due to his curse of the glitch giving and taking away from him. He groaned out in pain, his body shuddering with every little movement he made. But despite all that, he began to download the chip data from Joseph. His tail however, grabbing at the Heatshot he had tried to make use of. The thinking, moving appendage chewing the data and swallowing quickly, a bulge moving down the entire length of the tail before disappearing into Asymptote. Oy! That was-! Asymptote began before hearing a variety of noises coming from the maw, some sounding like panting, some like it was choking on the incompatible data that it had devoured. Before long, the gagging turned to coughing and sputtering and Asymptote, knowing what happened last time, proceeded to geeeeently push the tail maw towards the Maru-01 that was in front of him, angling it downwards before it let loose. A ball of flaming vomit being hacked up at the small puffball virus. The vomit splattering behind where the Maru was stationed at, giving even Asymptote a little "Splashback" as the zeros and ones slid off Asymptote like rivulets of water, the navi unflinching as it had happened. Just with a tired look on his face saying So...this is my life now...okay...okay...

Asymptote. You REALLY need to get better at not grossing people out. Joseph poked jokingly at his navi, with a chuckle added in for good measure. The navi was simply unflinching in his tired facade, eyes half lidded behind the mask as he began to download the data from his next chip. The oldie but goody, FireBurner1. His body catching aflame as he began to absorb it's powers into himself, the chip's data causing his form to sweat profusely as he began to take aim at his intended targets. Eyes locked upon the forms of his enemies, despite the Mimic's protection, he could kill it with little effort on his part from where he stood. The navi's mouth opening at the hinge, teeth bared as a gun barrel began to emerge from the toothy abyss. Flames flickering from the end of it, mouth glowing with an unnatural black color as he got on his hands and knees. With a brief charging time, Asymptote's mouth let loose a torrent of flames from the bowels of hell it's self, the black flames shooting out in a line that continued to stretch across the battlefield as Asymptote continued to breathe his flames like a dragon from the depths of the darkness. Eventually, the napalm fueled attack ended, he knew full well that the Mimic wasn't dead yet, most likely stripped of it's barrier.

But before long, Asymptote would download the last chip he had as electricity began to pour through his body. A pair of nuts and bolts attaching themselves to his neck almost immediately afterwords, red blood as well as black and white garbled data began to bleed out of the sides of his neck. Asymptote got back onto his feet as a bow and arrow materialized in his hands. A wooden bow with a wooden arrow and a pointed metal tip in his hands, he loaded the arrow into the string, notching the arrow and pulling it's string back as he took aim at the big bad Mimic, lightning jumped from him and onto the arrow tip. With the string as back as he could make it, Asymptote let his arrow fly towards his enemy. The arrow slowly twisting in the air as it cut through it, it began to falter and began to slowly fall from the air, landing and sticking in the panel the Mimic stood upon. A moment passed as nothing happened, Joseph spoke up.

Uh...Asymptote...nothing's happening. He would say as simply as possible. The navi simply brought a finger up as he let his bow down, and pointing at the Mimic, a roll of thunder sounded out as the plane shook briefly in the air...and right after, a crack of lighting striking the panel the arrow had stuck it's self in, three more cracks of thunder striking the panels to the side and behind the Mimic and leaving scorch marks where they had struck. You are just -full- of surprises, aren't you? More than even I know of, Joseph. More than even I can fathom.

The carnival of grotesquery continued as Asymptote did his best to deal with his new-found... er... capabilities. the more that his body grew riddled with glitches, the more he seemed to visually distort and warp to those who could see the freakish navi. Asymptote felt his skin hardening as a strange dark fluid began to spread out from him, leaking from his open wounds and even exuding from his pores. The ground beneath him grew thick and unstable, and he sloshed in it as he moved.

The Mimic opened up to fire a scorching beam of energy at him, no doubt as perturbed by the display as everyone else, but the ray passed through Asymptote's image without seeming to connect; apparently he wasn't quite where it looked like he was. Projectile tail vomit answered from the unstable mass of a navi, broad and all-covering enough to swamp the nearby Maru and cause it to fizzle out at least with a crackle before it could attempt to apply its taser. More gouts of burning material put on an increasingly volatile show, tearing down the Mimic's barrier before his deceptively controlled electrical arrow shot finished off the business.

After a few extra moments, the various glitches and bugs fizzled their way through Asymptote's system and his body returned to a close approximation of what was the new 'normal' for him. Far off, some of the other navis that were helping out found and dealt with the trapped cragger while Asymptote was able to collect up his earnings from the fight. With the mimic destroyed, he was also able to finally claim the contents of the mystery data that had teased him before.

-=Viruses=-
Green MimicGreen Mimic (Mimic)

MonoSword are distant cousins of Swordy, but have evolved further in an attempt become more a threat. They attack by teleporting in front of their target, and slashing with their namesake before returning to their original position. Their blades are sturdier than most, and can cut through things regular ones cannot, such as shields. Their bulky armor also gives them above average stamina, but it weighs them down to the point where they do not move or dodge, aside from attacking. Despite it lacking any sort of defense that would bestow such a weakness, they ironically take additional damage from Break attribute attacks.

Maru are highly intelligent for being what they are, and love to combine tactics with others of their kind to make sure they each get to shock the enemy at maximum efficiency. Their small size and ability to move in any direction makes them extremely hard to hit.

Asymptote would begin to "Hoover" up the zenny that had been dropped by the viruses and mimic, and quickly rushed towards the now defunct mimic, and crashed his fist through the data cube, pulling out a blue colored fist roughly the size of Asymptote's hands. And seeing the Cragger being deleted by his fellow navis, Asymptote gave a simple nod and thumbs up as he rushed towards the deeper parts of the network of the plane. A crashing sound in the distance as the plane shook again, ever harder than before. Not even noticing his cross and glitches deactivated.

(Battle 3, 123 HP, Maru-01 Bounty)
Moving further into the plane's network, Asymptote discovered a rather glaring anomaly in the middle of his path. A massive pool of poisonous panels impeded his progress, though it seemed to be an important place for the plane's mechanics as some tall orange spires, about Asymptote's height, jutted out from the bog of purple muck, emitting some beeps periodically. In front of him, a Kettle and Bandcoon virus duo were looking out towards the poison bog, still somewhat unaware of the approaching Navi.

Further in, Asymptote would be able to sight a few more viruses. On a glowing HolyPanel islet that hadn't been taken over by the poison yet, a pair of Handy viruses were obscured by one of the spires, seemingly unperturbed by the encroaching terrain about them. A little to their sides, a cluster of the Maru viruses he had been sighting gathered about each other like a swarm of insects, though something more interesting was directly below where they were situated--a half-submerged green Mystery Data crystal! He'd have to act fast if he wanted to retrieve it, though, as it didn't look like it would survive being dunked in caustic muck for very long.

HandyHandy (Handy)

Handy Viruses attack by opening a dimensional gate below themselves, and dropping into it. The exit gate opens next to their destination, and they will rise out of it holding an explosive. This explosive is placed on an unbroken panel, and the Handy is free to move after. The use of gates does not count as teleporting, but can be used as a means of dodging as they attack. Gates are only used when attacking, and at no other time. Handy viruses will not set a new explosive until either a turn has passed, or they pass one action without setting a new bomb, whichever comes first. KettleKettle (Kettle)

Kettle do not attack unless and until they are attacked. This behavior does not count as a Counter or a Trap. It's simply what they do. Moving and dodging require actions, while retaliating against attacks does not. All Kettle have passive Regen. When this virus is attacked with non-Fire Damage below its max HP, it will boil over to attack nearby enemies with Aqua Damage equal to the damage taken. This effect does not damage allies. If the damage is greater than or equal to its current HP, the virus is also deleted after the counter attack. If not, the Kettle will regenerate a portion of its HP and continue on as normal. When this virus is attacked with Fire Damage, it will boil over to attack nearby allies dealing exactly its max HP in Aqua Damage. This effect will not damage enemies. The virus is automatically deleted after boiling over in this case.

-- Battle 3 Ready? Start!! --
Asymptote would walk his way ever deeper into the network, but found himself stopped and speechless at what he had found. A beach of poison with a shore of Normal and a couple of Holy in the distance. A gaggle of viruses, three of the ever prevalent Maru-01 and it seems this is where the one he didn't see last battle went, Two timebomb setting Handies, a Bandcoon...and a kettle...one that was moving around. But...it seemed he had not been seen just yet. All the better for the monster of a navi, he could take this one step at a time. Hopefully, he could get rid of the tea kettle before the raccoon could see him, and better for it, make sure he could cause some collateral damage. So very quickly, he would shoot off a PM to his netop, making sure to do it as quietly as possible.

With a light ping on his PET, Joseph would get Be vewwy vewwy quiet. I'm hunting viwuses. This caused the netop to laugh to himself as well as giving him an eye roll to boot. But another PM quickly followed. But seriously, I need the Heatshot quickly. I have two viruses that haven't seen me and I would rather not deal with them catching a glimpse of me. He followed up, Joseph would quickly slot in the requested chip for Asymptote and sat back in his seat silently, all the while another shake of the plane came through, jostling people from their seats again.

Asymptote crept up behind the Kettle virus as it continued to stare out at the sloshing and bubbling poison ahead of them, bent down and leaned forward. A few steps he crept up behind the virus as his natural targeting systems began to kick into gear. A small weapon, not even a couple inches big, materialized into his mammoth hand and with a flick, a flame began to flicker at the end of it. Much like a lighter, Asymptote began to reach forward up behind the Kettle and tossed the "weapon" with a quiet clatter. The weapon in question, was little more than a simple lighter. But as the flame was turned on, it began to grow exponentially hotter and hotter, the lighter growing in size as the heat expanded the liquid inside. And with a loud pop, the lighter let out an explosion as a ball of fire lept from the lighter and towards the Kettle in turn, attempting to heat it up much the same you would with a kettle at home. And hopefully, it would take the Bandcoon with it before Asymptote tried anything else against the small gaggle of viruses ahead of him.
