Visions of Monsters

+4 FXP

As the two navis moved up the road there was a rumbling. Horns sounded as, turning the corner onto their street, a parade of viruses began streaming towards them. A Billy lead the procession, with a pair of bunnies, a pair of Metools, and a pair of NeoMetools moving in two columns behind the Billy. The rumbling grew louder as one by one, tanks began streaming onto the road behind the foot traffic. The first two tanks were the familiar slow Catacks. However, the following two were much bigger and stranger. Each was like taking Metools and enlarging them dozens of times, and then sticking tracks on them.

Mettank V1Mettank V1 (Mettank)

A Mettank is a combination of the Metool, Catack, and Armadillo viruses. It looks a lot like a regular Catack, with several notable differences. The main body of the tank is slightly smaller, and the tank's driver is very clearly an actual Metool, though it doesn't bear its signature weapon. The vehicle itself is colored to match the Metool-driver's Helmet; thus the most basic version is gold with green trim, while more powerful versions will be colored differently to follow suit. The tank itself retains the same basic design as a Catack, except that its triangular treads have been replaced with four almost comically over-sized monster-truck style armored wheels, and its main gun now sports two long, narrow tines jutting out vertically up and down from a point close to the muzzle. These make it look rather like a giant version of a Metool's pickaxe, and the cannon is also now housed in a vertical pivot that allows it to adjust up and down, or even swing with enough force to strike the lower tine to the ground.

Most of the time, the Mettank moves very slowly, and it has been seen to activate a defensive mode wherein the Metool-driver's helmet expands to a jumbo size large enough to cover the entire tank in its protective dome. This does, of course, render the virus utterly blind, and when specifically guarding like this it can no longer attack or move.

It has also been seen, occasionally, to display sudden feats of unexpected speed, where it will rev up, then suddenly ram a target. At these times, its helmet defense covers the tank, though it recedes again as soon as the attack run loses momentum.

Area: All

HP: 260
Element: Null

Primary Attack Damage/Effect: 20 Null + Stun 1 + Blast 2
Primary Attack Accuracy: B
Primary Attack Description: The Mettank blasts a target with an explosive shell from its main gun, which stuns targets.

Secondary Attack Damage/Effect: 20 Null + Piercing + Ground Attack + Wide Attack
Secondary Attack Accuracy: B
Secondary Attack Description: Slams the pick-tine of its main gun to the ground, causing a large shockwave.

Tertiary Attack Damage/Effect: 20 Null + Group Attack + Breaking + Impact + Movement
Tertiary Attack Accuracy: B
Tertiary Attack Description: The Mettank revs up and rushes one target with sudden speed. It activates its MetGuard when it begins to rush, and deactivates it again as soon as the attack run ends. The Mettank does not return to its original position at the end of the attack run, but remains where it stopped.

Special: MetGuard: The Metool's Helmet expands rapidly to cover the entire tank in a protective dome. Assumes MetalBody and can hold this guard for any number of actions. Activating the guard takes an action, but deactivating it to attack does not. Mettank cannot move or attack while MetGuard is active, however its tertiary attack ignores this. Attacks from below bypass MetGuard for normal damage.
Special: Slow to move, but can move and dodge while attacking.
Note: MetalBody is identical to IronBody, but does not hamper movement. Non-Break attacks deal 0 damage, and Break attacks deal double.

Possible Rewards (Per Virus): TankCannon1, Guard1, ShockWave, IronShell1, LilBomb, WhiteCapsule

Vigil moved along with Asymptote, the two making their way through the streets of Electown. It was nice, honestly, getting to spend some time with just the larger navi without other interactions. She did so enjoy eliminating viruses, but also getting the chance to just talk to the frankenstein's monster of a navi. The two of them were actually making some light-hearted conversation, cracking jokes back and forth too as they reached the main street where the communication fell for a moment as the sight started to fill her vision.

"Oh...how curious," she spoke, and Asymptote, having started to get a little used to her verbiage and tones, would be able to tell that she was very likely gearing up for something. And gearing up she was, as the woman extended her right hand, an eye beginning to form within her hand as she called the chip data from Alexander, without even needing to communicate it. The grouped-up nature of the viruses made them a prime target for one of her favorite weapons.

The eye that was still riding upon her shoulder widened in excitement, as did the sigils below her feet. The woman's tongue crept out from between her fangs, curling out into the air a little. "Look at them come, Asymptote. They are all lining up to die." she spoke, almost breathing a sigh of excitement as she let the chip data finalize itself in her hand.

She sent the eye on her shoulder down, letting it roll across the environment before taking a stop on the right-hand side of the environment, turning to look toward the left, trying to feed its mistress with all of the information it could. She used this, focusing on the vision that she got from Alexander's connection, as well as being fed the information. It was almost like a crane game, using information from directly above for one axis, and to one side for the other.

Stepping forward, she hurled the Lilbomb, aiming to put it right into the center of the gathered Front Line Parade group, aiming to simply eliminate the lot of them with a single, explosive strike. As soon as it had left her hands, as well, her vision also picked up the sight of the approaching tanks. "They're very...large," she commented, giving a slight grin toward Asymptote before she liquidated herself, coming off further to the right side, avoiding any sort of danger that may be coming her way.

The movement was simple, but presumably effective as her body simply melted down into the inky blackness that comprised the pupil below her, and a moment later, she rose again nearby, hoping to confuse and outwit her enemies.

(Now Playing: Cosmic Star Heroine OST 10: Critical Juncture)

As they walked through the nets, deeper and deeper they went, they came upon a curious sight...a parade of viruses...three rows of two Bunnies, Metools and NeoMetools with a Billy lead...and behind them...two Catacks...and...Metool Tanks? Lovely. Metas. Asymptote breathed as he locked sights with the metool driven tanks, the comically large wheels on each of them giving them a certain...height...compared to the viruses they were based off of. Metas? I thought they were called Mettanks. Joseph mumbled as he looked over the field data, Asymptote shaking his head in response. Metas. As in, Meta Viruses. Three or more viruses combined together to form a brand new one. Looks like these Mettanks are a Metool on top of a Catack...can't tell what the last part of them are, honestly. Asymptote mused for a moment before being interrupted in his train of thought.

"Look at them come, Asymptote. They are all lining up to die."

Very much so...now, let the carnage begin. Fire+20, ThunderBeam1 and Guard1 if you would, Joseph. Asymptote asked, with three errant clicks coming from his PET and with it, quickly sprung into action. The navi summoning the shield he had asked for, the metool plate quickly encompassing his hand in it's entirety like a liquid metal, eventually forming into the usual shape of a rounded shield emblazoned with the Metool's cross. Whilst that happened, Asymptote's generator charge quickly ramped up production on it's charges, one immediately smacking Asymptote square in the back of his head as his irises began to target more sharply than normal, whilst one jumped off towards Vigil before he could move himself out of the way of attacks, jumping up onto her arm and circling upwards to her hand as she launched her attack, the spark wrapping around the bomb as it launched with an electrical hiss and crackle. And whilst all that happened, Asymptote readied another spark of energy, this one ready to heal up whoever gets brained by the viruses' attacks...just in case.

After he prepped himself to defend from an errant attack, Asymptote began to shuffle his feet back and forth, keeping the shield up in front of him for the moment as he began to move back and to the left, breaking off from Vigil as she moved towards the right in turn. He needed to keep distance until the time for them to assault the rear-guard was right. And to help add to it...Asymptote began to flare up inside his body, the heat of the Fire+20 beginning to light a fire in his belly, a scorching flame as he began to open his mouth and with a hiss, turned his head upwards with a swift motion. A second later a ball of fire exploded out of his mouth at high velocity like a cannonball and with it, his aim perfect most likely, shot it towards the Mettanks, the first specifically, the ball of fire coming down to hopefully melt the tank's offensive systems into a muddled mess of melted parts and gears.

Right after, Asymptote felt a familiar crackle of electricity as his generator pack began to glow a greenish hue as his eyes began to glow that familiar glow. Taking calculated aim from behind his shield, Asymptote felt the electricity power along the batteries in his back, jumping from node to node before hitting the bolts in his neck. A bright glow flashing from Asymptote as he began to concentrate and, more importantly, harness the power that welled up inside, the crackles and hisses from his electricity growing louder and louder until they reached a fever-pitch of noise, sounding something akin to a superconductor's charging sequence. ALLOW ME TO SHOW YOU THE LIGHT YOU BASTARDS! He howled, louder than the noise his electricity made, as he let loose three swift, powerful bolts of lightning. Each one quickly leaving Asymptote as he sent them to hone in on their intended targets, one glowing brighter than the rest as a crackle of lightning rumbled in the skies above as Asymptote attempted to char the three targets all at once with a "krack-a-BOOM" call of lightning, three spots where the bolts hit instantly charred to a blackened crisp.

The parade seemed to stop for the moment, looking out at the two Navis with innocent expressions on their eyes. While Vigil took out the bomb and sent it out to her right, one of the Metools blew a small horn that tooted festively, right before she tossed it into the parading crowd. The resulting explosion took out almost the entire front line, save for one of the gun-toting NeoMetools, which squeaked in fright as it ran off behind one of the gigantic Mettanks.

The Mettank that the smaller NeoMet hid behind immediately opened up its helmet wide like a giant umbrella, before covering itself almost entirely within the shiny yellow helmet. Meanwhile, the Catacks were more proactive in retaliating against the two sudden party poopers, firing upon both Asymptote and Vigil in a thunderous show of force. Fortunately, their nimble movements allowed them to avoid being on the receiving end of the large cannon shell.

The Mettank that hadn't covered itself up, however, wasn't one to be outdone, and raised its own muzzle against the two Navis. The end of the barrel crackled with some arcing electricity before firing its own shells, one towards each of the combatants. The one aimed for Vigil went wide, but the one aimed at Asymptote landed square on him. Fortunately, the latter had a reflective shield raised up, which sent back the strength of the shell in the form of a high-speed sonic wave towards the Mettank, taking a slight chip off of its helmet. Asymptote's next attack would find its way towards the Mettank as well, and this time, it did quite a bit more damage to it, causing it to reel slightly backwards on its treads.

Eye 1: 21 HP (Slightly further ahead of Asymptote)
Asymptote dug in his heels as he saw the Mettank attack him, launching a shell right towards him, the navi holding his shield up without hesitation and taking the attack head on, feeling himself beginning to move backwards, but despite such...he managed to reflect the attack right back at the sender, and take a rather sizable chunk of it's health with some redirected electrical beams. Asymptote would only grin to himself, he was fairly far away right now, but he had more to do, five more viruses lived and he had the tools to destroy them. And if not, his partner could just as easily clean them up. Three more chips were unprompted and slotted into Asymptote's PET, three clicks echoing in the back of the abomination's head, his eyes turning towards the Cattacks as he felt the energy enveloping his body. But something was out of place...no, he couldn't feel the crackle of electricity this time.

Asymptote's fists began to gradually grow heavier and heavier, steel plating wrapping around his digits as he closed his eyes. Letting the metallic plating envelop his fists, he would open his bloodshot eyes again, seeing heavy and simple mishmash of plating covering his hands and wrists, a quartet of gyrojets on the top, bottom, left and right of his hands, looking almost like rocket jets on their own. The navi's eyes flashing a green color as a faint light began to envelop one of his fists. The navi's eyes targeting out the defending Mettank, reticules beginning to line up as the jets flared up, his arms shaking ever so slightly as he let out a roar, the fists detaching from his arms and rocketing off towards the virus, flares of energy enveloping the two rocket propelled punches, one splitting out from the two into a trio of attacks, spikes popping out of the knuckles as they attempted to pierce through the Mettank's armor and blow a hole wide open in it's chassis.

Right afterwards, Asymptote summoned two razor sharp blades of light around him, the two razor sharp disks beginning to circle around his body slowly as he began to make his move. Moving to try and directly line up the viruses so he could rip through them with the help of his supporting chip, the navi did his best, eyes continuing to glow a faint green color as data began to flood his head, lines and scales flooding his senses as he skidded to a stop, his analysis continuing despite everything. Alright then...lets get ourselves a double delete... He breathed, a green cape materializing around his neck and draping down his back, the navi bringing his arms outwards to the sides as he took a kneeling stance, one knee on the floor as his other leg bent outwards. The navi felt wind beginning to lift him upwards despite his size, his entire body shuddering out in anticipation as he began to spin about, his arms like propellers, Asymptote brought his legs outwards as he went into a horizontal position, his fingers just barely touching the ground. Quickly a tornado wrapped about his legs, his body turning faster and faster around and around, his head staying in position, not even twisting with the rest of his body. ASYMPTOTE TORNADO BURST! He shouted out into the air, flying forwards with a great burst of speed, hurtling down the field, making sure he hadn't gotten in vigil's way, as he attempted to pull a double delete, using his head as a battering ram to burst through the hauls of both Cattacks and electrifying them one-hundred percent in a single shot.

The resulting chaos from her and Asymptote's attacks was nothing short of glorious to Vigil. She couldn't help but to raise her hands up to her face, a small sound of excitement coming forth from her lips as she looked on. The eye beneath her widened in its own excitement, actually beginning to give light spasms as her bosom heaved slightly with the excitement. The whole scenario before her was something like a wet dream to the navi who found the decimation of viruses to be positively arousing. Unfortunately for Vigil (and perhaps fortunately for Asymptote) the spectacle was over nearly as quickly as it started, and the procession was reduced to the larger tanks in the background.

Her breathing slowly began to steady then as she watched, but she looked very much excited with what had happened, here. "That was...most exciting," she spoke, the woman biting her lower lip for a moment as her processors began to follow through on what to do next, given the fact that there were still a number of virii still on the field. She needed information, and as such, she made a gesture with a hand as an eye began to form from her left hand, moving to scoot around much like the other eye did, operating on the left side of the field for her to get a full picture from.

"Oh?" Vigil spoke, now that her Eye was in position, she noticed that the Neo-Metool had managed to make its way back, hiding behind one of the others. "Oh no no no~" she cooed as she began to cycle through the chips at her disposal, sending the instructions to Alexander, who was already one-step ahead of her and beginning to send the data down even as she began to sashay her way forward, the woman's body blurring into inky blackness as she moved inward, seeping into the ground beneath her feet.

Another eye sigil appeared on the ground near the Mettanks, and Vigil showed absolutely no fear as she formed up from the ground, not too far from them, and the NeoMetool that lay behind. She knew, of course, that Asymptote would likely go for the Catacks, mostly because she had found him aggressing on them in most of their other battles thus far, and she felt the pull of the excitement at this distance to be something that sent shivers up her digital spine.

As she appeared, a veil of protection wrapped up around her as she extended her right hand, the eye appearing even as its iris swelled with red anger...and electricity began to dance along it as well. "Thank you, my dear~" she called to Asymptote as Vigil unleashed the electrified flames, firing at the Met family of tanks and tools, hoping to simply let them all perish under her attack.

With most of the viruses taken out in the first round, the two Navis were free to take the rest of the opponents at their leisure, with Asymptote firing up a MeteorKnuckle round towards the Mettank that had its guarding helmet down. As invulnerable as it looked, the helmet was no match for the steeled rocket fists, and it took a sizable amount of damage. Meanwhile, Vigil was mostly holding herself back from getting too excited at the display of carnage she had carried out, and rose up to a more upfront deal with the nearly destroyed Mettank after creating another one of her eyes for a clearer vantage point of the field.

The Catacks were quick to respond to her, lining up two shells against the robed woman, but through a stroke of luck, she managed to weave through both of them harmlessly, while they crashed into the nearby buildings with explosive results. The Mettank itself also attempted to defend itself, with rather poor results, with its cannon fire reduced to little more than a breath of hot air. Nonetheless, it managed to trigger the protective veil that she had put up, and it rapidly disappeared before bestowing a surge of strength into her. Just before she activated the next attack, however, the other Mettank suddenly charged towards her in a rush, making a real ruckus on the asphalt as it did so. Unfortunately, all it did was rush headlong into her flames, which caused it to veer off course and missed her by a hair. The flames scorched it quite thoroughly, but wasn't enough to delete it outright. The already heavily damaged Mettank, however, along with the NeoMetool behind it, weren't quite as lucky, and were immediately deleted.

Meanwhile, Asymptote was charging up his own special combination attack, with the DashAttack and the RingZap granting him a green cape tied around his neck and a localized tornado around his legs. The whirling mass of death began lining up the Catacks for the perfect kill and then charged in--only to find the Mettank that charged Vigil earlier in the middle of his path! The sudden rush of the massive tank caused him to veer off course and smash directly into it, rather than the Catacks, only managing to clip both of them with the RingZap's tornado effect and leaving them slightly worse for wear, but still running. The Mettank, however, wasn't quite as lucky, and was completely demolished by the its unintended suicide charge into Asymptote's line of attack, erupting spectacularly as it was deleted.

It felt like their teamwork was reaching a point of legendary status. These foes that they had gone up against had been dangerous, incredibly so, and yet the two of them had managed to simply decimate their ranks with relative ease. Vigil watched the remnants of the battle as they struggled to move, slowed by Asymptote's abilities and she was not under any illusion that her beefy friend wasn't the true cause of their victories, here. He was able to stop their foes from their full efficacy and allow Vigil to run rampant and unleash her own attacks onto the field.

However, right now, the only thing left were the two Cattanks, and she could feel her palms itching slightly as the need to decimate them came to her. "Let's...eliminate these. Delete...delete," she began to murmur under her breath, before she turned her face skyward. "Alexander...I need some chips, please." she called up, and she heard the boy in the affirmative as she felt the chip data start to trickle down into her.

A slight shift in her movements and she darted over to be alongside her ally, giving him a winning smile before she lifted her hands up, a pair of eyes floating in front of each of her palms as she stared down the Slowed Cattanks. "Execute," she whispered, before she slammed made a motion with her right hand, the eye dropping down into the ground before a ripple of force began to burst upward out of the ground while the eye floating before her left hand opened fire with a shotgun blast, aiming to simply eradicate both of the Cattanks right then and there.

Asymptote breathed a sigh of relief, those mettanks were dead, even if his own targets were still alive. But regardless of them still moving around or not, he wasn't about to be deterred from his murder of everything in the area, and gods knew he wasn't about to go easy on the viruses. Turning himself around to find he was behind one of the Catacks after his charge was a fine position to be in, the navi grinning goofily as he turned to murder the viruses in front of him. Lets make use of the GunDelSol, Joseph. I wanna have a little fun before the end of this fight.

Asymptote spoke, a glint in his eyes as he stomped forwards a little bit, making sure to be in the perfect range to do what he wanted against the two tanks. He held his arm outwards, and in it's place, a gun began to wrap around his forearm. Flesh, muscle and machinery beginning to morph and change his arm, the barrel of the gun slowly pushing backwards across his arm as pulsating veins bulging out from either side, a magnified scope beginning to form atop the gun's body, flesh clinging to metal and acting as one single fleshy organism. Asymptote held his weapon up to the skies, holding position for a brief moment before yelling out TYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH! In a guttural fashion, energy collecting in his arm and, in that moment, light began to explode outwards from his weapon as a bright flesh of energy. Bringing his arm downwards, the navi let the weapon "click" and send out a blast of energy in front of him, black in color, but bright as that same energy that entangled his arm, the weapon slowly growing in intensity as he continued to hold the weapon down in front of him, a bright, searing "T" shape being flooded with painful looking energy, sizzles of heat slowly wafting upwards as he held his ground for as long as he could, hoping to turn the two viruses to dust.

Meanwhile, as Asymptote blasted the two tanks with the pure energy of the sun, Vigil had multiple electrical charges wrap around her, increasing the accuracy of both her attacks and, as she launched her Shockwave against the viruses, it's power grew ever so slightly, a wider trail slowly adding to it's path, as whatever wounds she had were instantly healed up.

With the two viruses remaining on the field being the Catacks, Asymptote and Vigil banded together to wipe the two from the map with their combined force. In defiance, the tank viruses raised their barrels and fired simultaneously, managing to finally hit something in front of them after a long while before being deleted succinctly. (-20x2) (-20x2) Asymptote's healing managed to patch up a bit of Vigil's injuries (+15), but it wasn't much of a grievous hit in the face of their swift victory.

The creatures seemed to finally hone in on Vigil, the woman's avoiding finally seeming to not quite pay off as she let out a cry of pain from the onslaught of the attacks. They weren't particularly dangerous, and the healing from Asymptote definitely helped her to stand through most of it, but the woman couldn't deny that it had hurt a great deal more than she'd expected.

As the deletion finalized, the woman exhaled softly, frowning down at the tears in her dress that had formed. "Well that was certainly unexpected. Who would have thought that me running in directly like that would have ended with such a thing happening?" the woman spoke, reaching down to daintily brush off some excess data that clung to her from the deletion. "I think that you and I are doing well so far in this little cycle of deletion, my dear," she spoke, reaching over to pat Asymptote on the chest. "I would be so very lost without you," she commented, before letting her fingers trail down a bit, before she drifted a few steps away.

"This is about as far as you made it back in ACDC. Your experience and Asymptote's backup are helping you quite a bit," Alexander spoke, and the woman gave a dainty laugh, looking back toward her ally.

"Please, we both know Asymptote is doing the heavy lifting here. I'm just an accessory to his warpath," the woman spoke, showering the oversized navi with a winning smile.
Asymptote groaned out as he flinched at the attacks that hit him and Vigil, rubbing the soot stained suckling wound where he had been hit. Shaking off the damage slowly, he began to gather up his wounds, listening to Vigil along the way. I do agree my dear, we've been doing quite well. Though don't rest on your laurels. Asymptote began as he felt her hand on his chest, the navi letting out a soft shudder to her touch. You've been pulling your weight so well, I didn't think you'd get as many kills as you've gotten, specially in this region of Electopia. But you've proven your mettle. You'll probably go far when we part ways eventually. Asymptote commented, crossing his arms across his chest.

Oh, Asymptote, you and her took a bit of a beating there in the last moments. Here, let me send a couple mini-energies, you can share with her. Joseph commented, sending two of the mini-energies through his PET. The navi letting out a sigh of contentment as a wave of energy wrapped around him. The suckling wound immediately closing shut and leaving (yet another) scar on his body. Asymptote would then immediately and gently put his hand down on Vigil's head, letting the Mini-energy wrap around her body, healing up the wounds from the previous battle as well as fixing her dress to pristine condition.

(Using 2 Mini-Energy, +50 HP to Asymptote and Vigil)
We had some, Alexander spoke, the boy almost sounding a little off-put by the fact that the other had already gone ahead and offered them over. I can send one back over to you, to even things up.

"Alexander dear, don't you worry about it. It was a treat- we shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, you know. That's bad manners. Just appreciate what you've been given," Vigil spoke, laughing lightly before she returned her gaze to Asymptote. "I would like think so. But When I don't have my big strong bodyguard to defend me, I am curious just how far I will be able to get," she spoke, giving the monstrous navi a winning smile.

Her gaze returned to the ruined parade grounds that lay in front of her. "I suppose that this mess is something that should be cleaned up by the programs afoot, hm?" she asked, though she didn't see any of the progs around. "But now with that oh-so-very nice present of renewal," the woman purred, not missing the larger Navi's reaction to her fingertips, "I feel as if I can take on the world. Might you wish a break, my gallant knight, or shall we continue onward to see what other creatures may come as pigs to the slaughter?" she asked, and the smile she wore expanded to a grin, the eye beneath her widening a bit more in its excitement.
Asymptote shook his head at Alexander. It's fine. Not like they cost that much, a single battle will cover it's cost. But I should have asked, I suppose. Asymptote said, shrugging his shoulders as he pulled his hand off her head. Alright, if you really have that kind of bloodlust still boiling inside...we can continue if you're ready, Vigil. I've begun to notice a pattern though, every fifth battle seems to find us fighting a navi. I mean, that's what I've encountered thus far. Asymptote shrugged again as he looked down towards the network they would traverse. So if you think you're ready Vigil, go ahead and lead the way into the slaughter. Your monster of a knight will be more than happy to follow you where you go.
Vigil gave her usual throaty laugh then, the woman amused as she ran her fingertips over her bottom lip for a moment as she looked to Asymptote. "Paying for a meal? Aren't you the forward one?" the woman asked, obviously teasing before she paused at his words. Another Navi? How very curious. "Well then...I suppose that we should see if this teamwork we've been displaying all this time is strong enough to overcome another adversary, don't you? I think that such a target would prove all the more...exciting...to hunt," she spoke, her face splitting into a wide grin at the thought.

"Come along, my dear," she called to the monstrous Navi behind her as the woman turned, beginning to head further into the Net. She didn't know if they were going to succeed...but with her ally by her side, Vigil was far more confident than she would be otherwise, and her swaying hips as she walked confirmed that arrogance.

Vigil looking for Battle 5! Neo-Metool Bounty!
Asymptote wordlessly listened to Vigil with her remarks and comments, but she deemed herself ready to go on further...and he would happily begin to come up the rear of where she was going. If the pattern held, there would certainly be another navi to fight...but he had this strange feeling the pattern wouldn't hold as much as he wanted it to. Either way, he prepped himself mentally for what may come. Joseph, on the other hand, murmured a comment under his breath, just loud enough for Asymptote to hear. That girl could seriously give the Bloodhounds a run for their money, Asymptote. Be ready to fight to the death, gods only knows if she can keep herself from getting killed.

(Battle 5, 170 HP, Billy Bounty)
(4FXP)

With a modicum of vaguely flirtatious banter and a small dose of mutual healing, Asymptote and Vigil continued along on their search for things to destroy together, meandering through the Electown city-scape looking for viruses. They'd only moved on a short way, however, before the general murmur of network activity faded into the background underneath something that sounded oddly like a synthetic guitar track, full of harsh chords and glares that evoked the mental imagery of excessive desert heat and endless sands.

They were, of course, still in Electown, with advertising billboards scattered about the various byways and alleys, and tall buildings everywhere. the sky was clear and the air was still... but the music hummed on with a driving rhythm. the source, as they soon found, seemed to be an open square between several buildings that contained a very large, boxed-in sand pit, with thick oak boards forming retaining walls at the edges of the pit.

The odd sight was made moreso by the presence of a very tall, thin cactus-like plant, made of many, many round segments stacked on top of each other — not, indeed, unlike cacty virus strains, though this one was larger, taller, and far more aberrant. the sections were yellow-skinned, spined and woody, and the whole column of them danced and swayed back and forth in time wit the music, swinging to a width that made one think, surely, it must topple of come apart. It was almost like violent hip-swinging, in a way.

Far above, the head of the cactus creature bore a broad, happy grin, and wide, spiralling eyes as it looked down at them, humming its music and dancing in place. As they watched, two of the segments moved apart, somewhere in the middle, and a new one formed, making the whole cactus one segment taller. Its head rocked back and forth, madly ecstatic eyes peering at them each in turn as it bobbed and swung.

As the pair approached, Vigil became aware of the sounds before anything else. Of course, being a navi that was blind by trade, sounds were far more important in the grand scheme of things, and as they started to change, the woman's banter started to taper off a bit, mostly curious as to what they would be facing here shortly. Whatever it was, it seemed to be something a little...arid.

THe billboards didn't change, of course, and everything seemed to be about the same, but as they approached something that made its presence known in the distance, the woman couldn't help but to find it a little...curious. THere was something that looked like a sandbox just up ahead. "I wonder who's decided to make their home here?" she asked, mostly in general conversation than any real interest.

"Keep an eye out. Something seems off," Alexander spoke, and the woman gave a small huff at her netOP's words.

However, as she drew closer, the bare bits of vision she had starting to give her something more akin to seeing a dancing cactus, she paused. "What...is that?" she asked, before she realized that it was something much like a Cacty virus. Different, larger, combined, but still held some of the same tenets. That meant it was dangerous. She glanced to the sand that it stood in, realizing that the creature would very likely be at home in this sort of environment. Herself, however... "Alexander my shoes aren't built for sand."

"You'll need to make it not sand, then." As the chip came in, the woman realized what it was that he was doing as a wide grin lit up her features.

"Very well," she spoke, before she making her way to the edge of the sandy battlefield before glancing back at Asymptote. He also wouldn't be faring all that well in this, unless he had some fun as well. Vigil's body shifted as an eye opened up beneath her, wider as another sigil began to form just in front of her, in the base of the sand. In the blink of an eye, she'd dissolved into the inky darkness, an eye popping out from her before she began to surface in the sand.

As she rose up out of it, her right hand was extended, leaving an eye with a red iris hovering at her palm. "So sorry to ruin your sandbox," she spoke, before letting the flames burst outward, aiming to form a line all the way across the box and divide it in half, even while a shimmering iris began to flow around her as a secondary chip was activated.

Asymptote and Vigil would continue along the network, now more than ever things began to get freaky for the two of them...the area had begun to devolve for lack of a better word, the buildings began to disappear, and more and more, it felt like they were leaving the network of Electown all together...only they weren't. But despite that, sand began to appear...even if it wasn't meant to appear in Electown anyways. But more than that...a harsh beat and electrical rhythm began to reverberate across the area...and soon enough, they would come across what was...strange. A yellow skinned cactus based virus, obviously based off of the Cacti strain...and yet it...was different. It grew as time went on, two sections splitting apart to add another to it's body, the crazed look in it's eyes as it leered down upon them...and worst of all...they had a small field to actively fight in. They were effectively trapped in a circle of normal panels with the cacti's field right smack dab in the middle of everything. Granted, they had a boon in the cacti-based virus wasn't exactly moving around and was pretty much in the middle of the field, they could attack it from practically any angle. But...there was still something about this setup that seemed ever so strangely familiar.

Now...this is getting strange. When you think you know the net...things turn on your head. Asymptote mumbled under his breath, his teeth grinding with heavy metal sparks glowing from within, his body shuddering in anticipation, but before he could do anything to try and come up with a strategy with Vigil, she rushed into the sandy pit without a second thought, blasting the virus with her own brand of "strategy", attack and defend. With an exasperated sigh from Asymptote, he looked at what she was doing though, power flooding into her weapon of choice as it burned even more brightly than before. Flames licking even hotter as the attack began to glass the field in a straight line.

Alright then. Lets try galvanizing Vigil's body with a PERFECT DEFENSE! Asymptote shouted out, his body beginning to glow brighter and brighter as thunder and lightning began to churn up inside his body, holding his hands out towards the skies. A-Asymptote wait! Joseph called out as the thunder and lightning crashed through his fingers and into the skies above, clouds of darkness beginning to form across the field, a rumble of lightning crashing through them, thunder rumbling darkly as arcs of energy crackled through the clouds. Asymptote looked up at the clouds he had created with a quizzical look, before CRACKA-THOOM, lightning began to pour out of the clouds, crashing and crackling across where the Cacti virus had been seated at, the shifting sands of the area beginning to harden, the glass cracking and shattering harmlessly as energy transformed the natural, into the unnatural, steel sheets covering across the field spreading outwards to try and cover the area in a conductive sheet of metal. No damage done to the cacti...but Vigil...whilst she stood atop the sleek and reflective metals...was not encased in metal herself. She was completely soft and squishy just as before. Asymptote was not pleased as Joseph put on a fake smile.

Joseph. Asymptote. I probably already know the answer to this...but...WHY THE FUCK IS VIGIL NOT COATED IN METAL WITH A PERFECT DEFENSE?! Asymptote shouted into the air, angry. Wellllll...you see...they...kinda...removedthemetalbodyeffectfromsignatureattacksandihadtohastilycoblenewonestogethersoyouweren'twithoutsignatures Joseph blurted out almost immediately afterwards. Asymptote's eye twitched. He was -pissed- at the fact he no longer had his defense. But unfortunately there was nothing he could do about it. With a slump of his shoulders, finally putting his arms down as he sighed, closing his eyes and rubbing them with thumb and forefinger. J-Just...give me the SlowGauge and Fire+20 Joseph. Are...are you crying? NOW JOSEPH.

With a sigh, Joseph slotted the two chips into his PET almost immediately after, looking down at his PET as Asymptote did his thing. Asymptote began to open his mouth widely, a ball of fire beginning to flare up at the back of his throat as he took aim at the virus with all intents and purposes to his madness, the navi inhaling, only to get the ball of fire caught in the back of his throat. Groaning out as he let out a cough, throwing his head back and forth, the navi eventually dislodged the fireball, coughing it up with a "pittoo", the fireball bouncing across the field slowly like some sort of flower of fire, attempting to crash into the immobile(?) cacty virus, scorch it and lower it's potential for powerful attacks. And with that, his generator hummed to life, a crackle of lightning beginning to move between the pylons on his back, a light blue glow coming to his eyes as he reared himself back and let loose a paralytic blast of lightning towards the virus' synapses, attempting to hit the core of it's movement data to try and slow down it's attacks and dodges, if at all.

And with a final action, his body let loose a simple green hue of energy, the navi raising his arms up to the skies again and closing his eyes. He began to create a field of electrical energy, his pylons beginning to work in excess as static filled the air around his body. Soon enough, he collected what he could of the energy in the air and, as he brought his hands behind him, shot a ball of energy to Vigil. Strangely enough, the navi could feel a static electrical field around her body, hair standing on end, dress flowing around her like a current of wind, but despite that...it seemed to eventually "solidify" for lack of a better term, a field of static electricity around her body to deflect attacks off her.

With an odd and probably dangerous... foe...? in front of them both, Asymptote and Vigil began their co-operative rhythm and taking care of defences first. Or, they would have, if Asymptote hadn't found himself struggling with an unexpected internal reconfiguration. the cactus bobbed and swayed, the desert-themed synth music increasing in its tempo as it racked back and forth, watching them both with its mad grin and swirling eyes.

It reeled slightly and wavered in its loopy weaving as Asymptote struck it with various debuffs, first weakening it, and then slowing its motions — though after its own intensified beat, it had only slowed back to its 'normal' pace of weaving. The metallic terrain shift rippled out across the sand pit, removing all trace of desert from the large play box, but the cactus itself remained where it was, its head bobbing back and forth as it looked down at its own base for a moment in confusion, then back up at asymptote with its insane grin widening, as though this was somehow an incredibly amusing turn of events. Back and forth it swayed, almost hypnotic in the broad, loose sweeps of its cactus-segment column.

Vigil had an answer to its ponderous existence, and with a helping hand from Asymptote launched a powerful line of roaring flame across the now metallised area towards the cactus. As she released it, however, the air... shimmered. A heat mirage lifted up from the cactus as it pulled itself straight for a moment, arching back, then rocking in a wild sing of segments. The heat mirage made their vision wobble almost as erratically as the cactus itself seemed to be, but as the fire roared across the centre of the pit, it became too hard to see clearly if it hit its mark or not.

It passed, though the wavering mirage of heat remained; a small patch of metal around the cactus had become furnace-hot, giving off disorienting heat waves, and the cactus itself seemed as though its segments had becomes slightly darkened and warmer in colour, shifting from sunny yellow to a burnished orange. Back and forth, back and forth, its segments swung and swayed; it looked as though the attack had... missed? Or that the cactus had dodged it? How exactly it had done so with its base firmly rooted was a question, but it did seem incredibly flexible.

It watched them both, still simply grinning in their direction as he two navis protected the slightly squishier of their duo in further protectives. The music beat down and the creature's eyes danced merrily
