Therapeutic Violence

Both Mach and Mazer saw a noticeable change in scenery, as if they discovered an "oasis" of well-maintained onsens in the middle of an ocean of decay and disrepair. However, even this pristine area wasn't immune to the viral infestation. Mach raised his energy shielding and began to slow down as a decoy drone materialized behind him. The decoy's holoprojectors came online before veiling itself with a holographic copy of its master's likeness, then rocketed forward in an attempt to get the swarming insect viruses' collective attention. Mach's voice ordered over the noise of his engines.

Mazer already had the chips at the ready, in fact they never left his hands since they started their first battle, and began to slot in the requested chips. ["On their way; watch for the fan virus's gales, I'd stick to teleports until you take it down,"] he advised while he continued to upload the chips with experience-driven efficiency. "Understood," Mach said, giving a now rare positive-ish response to his NetOp. The Navi then activated one of his newest chips, a rare trap-type chip. However, nothing seemed to happen; there were no visual or audible clues of its activation other than the chip no longer showing up in his cue of uploaded battlechips. He hadn't used it before, so he didn't waste time questioning it and instead brought his next chip to bear.

A star-like orb of light began to shine above Mach's head, which prompted the Navi's single decoy to maneuver itself to hopefully draw in/keep the swarm of Skeetur in line with the TempestBox and CannonDumb, which was also Mach's line of fire. With little warning, a beam of bright light shot out from the orb, like a blindingly powerful laser. It traced a perfectly straight line in the air, that simple burned through anything that stood in its path. He intended to have the beam's path slice through the side-by-side CannonDumb and TempestBox, and continue on to obliterate the swarm of Skeetur behind them, even if his decoy was caught in beam's path.

As the beam started to run out of power and fade, several thin waves of white energy pulsed over Mach's body to refresh and debug his systems, before he disappeared in a flicker of cyan light. A similar cyan light immediately appeared high above the onsen, revealing MachMan and one of his decoys, both facing down to the ground below, each with a triple-barrelled heavy cannon in place of their right arms. Thanks to his position, distance from the targets, and said targets relative lack of mobility, it was likely very easy for him to pick out his targets and take aim. Both him and his decoy aimed their cannons towards the Shellman virus, who was the first target in their upcoming volley. With a rhythmic *Boom! Ka-thunk, Boom! Ka-thunk, Boom!* both MachMen opened fire. Though both of their weapons recoiled and spewed fire and smoke with each shot, only Mach's made any sound, as his was the only one that sent real explosive rounds downrange. Less than a half-second after each round was fired, it exploded with a small fireball on the surface of the network. The first was aimed dead-center on the Shellman, regardless of its attempt to shield itself with its clamshell armor, while the second and third shots were aimed at the CannonDumb and TempestBox respectively. Though the shells explosive warheads would likely cause some damage to the area in the blast radius, Mach was more concerned with wiping out the viruses than keeping the place tidy.

Expecting the surviving viruses to counterattack, MachMan and his decoy briefly shifted to defense and focused on avoiding incoming fire. His engines and control surfaces would move in concert with one another to send Mach and his decoy quickly in one direction to side-step an attack. Though he likely could've simply rolled in the air to effectively dodge, he wanted to keep his targets in his field of view for his next attack. His mind focused on the TempestBox as he activated the Synapse chip, which prompted a wave of electricity to start from the tips of his fingers and toes, which traveled inwards towards his chest and down the "nosecone" of his fuselage-shaped armor. Once it congregated to the nosecone, it lept forward like a thunderbolt and streaked down to the ground in an attempt to blast the TempestBox with a powerful jolt of electricity.

After hopefully electrocuting the fan-type virus, the thunderbolt "bounced" to the Shellman (if it wasn't already felled by the Magnum) to deep fry the virus in its own shell. The bolt still had plenty of power left, which it used to arc towards what remained of the Skeetur swarm. The individual mosquito-like insects were close enough for the bolt to arc amongst the entire swarm. The bolt fizzled out after attempting to electrocute its third and final target. If there was anything left to shoot back, Mach and his decoy "stood" prepared to avoid incoming fire, they had the entire airspace above the onsen to maneuver, and wouldn't hesitate to go full throttle to keep the viruses at a safe distance away.

Ever quick and efficient, Mach made his requests and got to work The wind machine blew against him while he prepared his defences and the Shellman clammed up for now. The Piranha streamed through the onsen to find a good vantage, them popped up to take aim at Mach, or his decoy, it was hard to tell which. It grew harder to tell, as, in the moment that the fish opened its mouth to fire, an overpowering blast of water blasted back down at it from Mach's prepared trap, obliterating the virus before it could actually launch the attack at all.

While this was going on, the Cannon, below Mac's position, angled up and fired a round at him, striking with little effect against his shielding while his decoy darted in to grab the attention of the mosquito swarm. They gave chase, swarming on the image, but it was perhaps a little to like Mach himself, and they field to encircle it properly; they didn't seem to notice that the decoy was a fake and continued to harass it as it led them to the exact position that Mach wanted.

At the last moment, the bolt of brilliant sunlight seemed to draw the bug-swarm's attention, and as the beam shot out, they whisked up and to the side, dodging the attack. Worse luck, though the sturdy-looking cannon virus took the beam solidly, the equally immobile Tempestbox was spared — a star-tipped arrow shot across the pool and shoved the machine out of the path of the beam, dunking it in the onsen instead.

Under normal circumstances, one would think that being dipped in water wouldn't be good for a mechanical virus, but the tempest box clicked its systems, changing gears, and didn't seem to be ill-affected. Mach teleported up to get a better vantage and scope the remaining situation more effectively and the cannon virus tracked him. It seemed confused briefly, its novel swivelling between Mach and his mirror image, unable to determine which was the real target now that it had lost immediate sight on him. they both readied weapons and the cannon made a coin flip before it could be destroyed. As it happened, it picked correctly and Mach wasn't able to get away from the quickly fired round; his shielding took another hit.

Across the pool, the Shell virus retreated again, sensing danger, but this turned out to be a very unwise decision; it might have survived Mach's next attack, had it taken the magnum blow to the body, but instead the shot battered through its shell, causing irreparable damage and destroying the virus completely. The Cannon was also taken out in the same attack, and the Tempestbox took a heavy blow. This version of fan machine was unduly sturdy, though, and it simply continued in its change cycle, beginning now to suck in wind as the onsen drained away from it, through the cracks that had formed from the damaging shot.

The drag, in fact, made it particularly difficult for Mach to move away from the swarm of mozzies which now seemed to have determined that he was the real target and swarmed on him with great enthusiasm. For now, they didn't manage to get through his shielding, but the clustered about the navi in a cloud and would probably find an unguarded flank swiftly if he let them. Still dealing with the swarm, Mach released a bolt of electricity which toasted a large portion of the bug swarm, though some remained, and continued down to blast the Tempestbox with a second strong attack. frustratingly resilient to Mach's efforts, it continued to draw wind inwards, maintaining its gale over the area.

Although his assault caught every one of his targets in the proverbial blast wave, the swarm of insects and the box fan continued to function. More pressing was the fact he found himself surrounded by the Skeetur swarm, which was actively trying to get past his shielding. He was simply going to teleport away to get out of range, but his train of thought was briefly derailed when he received notification of a chip upload: Burner. [That works too,] he mentally commented before activating the chip.

With no other warning, his entire body instantly became engulfed with bright red and orange flame, which exploded outwards in every direction, as if the Navi self-destructed. Wouldn't be the first time that happened... The blast wasn't very large, but considering the swarm was attempting to pick through his shielding, the blast was hopefully enough to incinerate the rest of the Skeetur "bugs." Mach's voice rumbled from inside the fireball, before his dark, angular body shot out from the explosion and careened towards the TempestBox while Mazer retrieved and slotted in the requested chip.

Mach had felt the TempestBox's gale attempting to draw him in, so he felt it was the moment to use its own ability against itself by charging head-long into the virus. His twin engines howled and spewed blue and purple cones of flame as he attempted to rapidly close the distance between him and the (hopefully) lone virus. A rectangular object materialized in his right hand, which he gripped tightly before a pulse of green energy burst from its top like an igniting blowtorch. A split second later, the seemingly untamed green energy tightened into a thin, concentrated blade shape that extended about 3 feet out from its hilt. Mach extended his right arm forward, thrusting the blade forward as he continued to divebomb the TempestBox in an attempt to spear the virus into deletion.

If the TempestBox was fast enough to switch its modes and attempt to blow him back, Mach wouldn't bother trying to fight the sudden gale-force headwinds. He'd instead simply teleport away, only to re-appear directly behind the virus. He assumed this would leave the virus relatively powerless to stop him, but he wouldn't waste a moment before driving the blade, now held underhanded in his right hand, vertically downward into the top of the virus, and wouldn't stop until the top of the hilt tapped against its "lid" in an attempt to thoroughly skewer his last foe.

Dealing with the mosquito virus swarm was easy enough for Mach, with a fiery explosion engulfing his immediate area and wiping out the suckers with ease. The TempestBox seemed to notice that it was the only one left on the field, and switched over to blowing wind instead of attempting to suck him in. Unfortunately, Mach's speed easily overcame the high winds, and the boxy fan was soon skewered against his blade with little to do except accept its deletion.

Instead of drawing the blade out of the now motionless TempestBox, he simple let go of the handle and floated back a few feet, then turned away as the virus began to rapidly corrode and fragment. A brief scan of the field confirmed he'd purged the area of viral activity, for now, so he could get to the task of gathering up the rewards. No chips this time, but there was a wealth of zenny and bugfrags littered around the onsen.

Mazer could plainly see his Navi didn't take any damage from the encounter; it was obvious MachMan would press on, so he didn't bother asking (he likely would've gotten a grumpy or just plain abrasive response anyway). It didn't take long for Mach to gather up the spoils of the battle, leaving him free to continue onwards.

((Ready for Battle #5))
After allowing the virus to corrode away at the end of his blade, MachMan went about his business, gathering the loot that had dropped. The only sound that would be audible was the gentle bubbling sound of the water pouring out from the lion statue's mouth. Suddenly, he felt a strange presence in the area, as if something was watching him. Looking around wouldn't reveal anything, however; there appeared to be nobody around, as he had just finished clearing away the viruses he had encountered. As he hovered over the water to gather the fragments that were floating around in the water, the feeling intensified.

Soon enough, however, his sixth sense would be validated, as a gleaming red light flashed from the fountain lion statue's eyes, briefly disorienting him. The ground rumbled violently, and the water rippled along with the turbulent seismic activity. Then, the sound of cracking and snapping sounded from beneath him, before the ground shot up into the air, prying away a conical-shaped chunk out of the earth. The chunk of earth then split open, bisecting itself horizontally, spilling out water from the gap into the crater that it left behind. The crater seemed to fill up much faster than the water spilling into it as well, so it might have been assisted by some spring from underneath.

Between the gaps of the chunk of earth, MachMan would be able to see some machinery whirring to life, as the bottom half split up into four and spread outwards, forming a set of legs extending from black metal limbs. The four legs touched down onto the water, and the exterior of the machine burst open to form a further set of eight arms. It turned itself around, such that the lion statue on top of the pile of coal stared MachMan down. The sound of a dim whine began to intensify from within the core of the machine...

Though the nagging feeling of being watched didn't prompt a response from the Navi, the rumbling and sudden upheaval of a significant chunk of the battlefield did. Mach attempted to jet away from what seemed to a large cone of netspace, and activated his energy shielding. The nearly transparent blue dome of energy flickered into view in front of the Navi, but didn't obscure his view of the massive foe.

In retrospect he should've been more suspicious of the oddly pristine area in the middle of a proverbial ocean of decay, but that likely wouldn't have changed the outcome of this encounter. His mind then shifted to battle plans; this enemy's capabilities were entirely unknown to him, other than it appeared to consist of the terrain it sprouted from. Cautious probing attacks would waste time, and he wasn't in the mood for patience, but he wasn't in the mood for wasting munitions and getting beaten either. So, his curt chip request aimed to give him two capabilities: numerical superiority, and a proverbial "can opener" for whatever defenses the enemy had. " AirRaid2HP: 100

Mazer's eyes were glued to his computer monitor (which was acting as a larger, primary display to his plugged in PET), and narrowed as he tried to glean any useful information from the goliath, many-limbed machine that was facing Mach down. He began to slot in the chips his Navi demanded without question, and guessed Mach's strategy to probe its defenses before bringing out the "big guns." He shifted his focus back to the mimic once he uploaded the chips, trying to see if there were any visual clues to possible vulnerabilities.

With a burst of digital activity, two mirror-perfect copies of the Navi and a small, angular aircraft materialized near Mach. The FighterPlane, which looked almost like Mach's upper torso armor (sans arms of course), cruised ahead with a decoy in tow, leaving the second decoy floating next to its master. The twin-engined fighterplane banked away from the Titan Mimic briefly, then turned sharply back to set up a strafing run at a different angle; it did so in case the enemy had a ballistic counterattack in store, so Mach wouldn't get caught in the line of fire. The decoy split off in the opposite direction, and attempted to arc around and behind the multi-limbed enemy, to test its visual and fire coverage while providing a distraction.

Meanwhile, Mach and his decoy doppelganger quickly raised their right arms and pointed it towards the enemy. Their closed fists and forearms were briefly engulfed in swirling flurries of data, before they settled in to form a triplicate set of right forearms and fists for both Mach and his decoy, each fist was arranged in a triangular formation, like a tri-railed missile launcher. Before attacking, Mach and his decoy cartwheeled towards each other in the air, and he fired his three right fists in rapid succession as his decoy passed "through" his own body (the physical drone tried to pass an inch or so behind Mach's body, but its projection briefly appeared to phase through Mach), in an attempt to make his target question which of the two MachMen actually fired the three rocket-propelled fists that arced towards its position. Two of the fists attempted to punch into the Titan Mimic's multi-armed upper torso, while one aimed squarely for the lion statue atop the massive foe. The flash of red light from its eyes made it obvious it was part of the machine, so it was a target of opportunity.

Raising his own defenses to match his enemy's, Machman opted for overwhelming numerical advantage, summoning a FighterPlane to do his dirty work for him. The machine began its preparations as well, as it raised two of its arms and stabbed them into the ground. Glowing blue lines began to reveal themselves on the arms' metal exterior, emitting a pulsing light that appeared to be as if it was drawing energy from the earth beneath it. As soon as the FighterPlane appeared, a small opening irised open on the machine's body, blasting out a torrent of water towards MachMan. Fortunately, he was able to strafe out of the way just in time along with his double, while the machine ate nearly a full round of bullets from the FighterPlane's gatling gun.

The assault continued, with the Mimic blasting out yet another surge of water, though this one was visibly weaker than the first. It was deflected by his shields, but the energy readings fluctuated rapidly as they were struck--it seems that the brute-force attack was tuned against the likes of shields. MachMan's next attack aimed for a more vital part of the machine, launching a trio of bullet-like rocket fists at his opponent. Unfortunately, his massive enemy ambled to the side at just enough of an angle for two of the fists to veer off course, and only one of them hit the machine's torso. It was slow enough, however, that he could reason that the enemy wasn't one to do much in the way of rapid evasive maneuvers.

Mazer responded only by slotting in the requested chips as quickly as he could; the Navi's position and requested chips made him guess Mach wanted to deal a heavy blow with all three chips at nearly the same time. He did; however, expect Mach would've done something that addressed the Titan Mimic's apparent terrain-siphoning techniques.

With the first two chips uploaded and the third on its way, Mach firewalled his throttles, causing his twin engines to roar and spew blue and purple cones of flame behind the rapidly accelerating Navi. His decoy followed just above him, and was somehow able to keep pace with the Navi as it mimicked his every move. Mach had his left arm bent around his lower torso with his fist near his right hip, like he was trying to grasp an invisible sword that was sheathed on his right hip, while his right was in-line and further back. His odd arm positions were quickly explained when a long metal handle materialized in his grip, capped with a massive rectangular sledgehammer-like head. The entire weapon was nearly 5 feet long, and though the head of the hammer that trailed behind him should cause a lot of drag and a misdistribution of weight, Mach's acceleration and laser-straight path suggested it wasn't that big of an issue.

Though the veil of pressurized air around his entire body would act like a battering ram, he wasn't so sure he'd be able to punch a hole through such a large opponent, so he'd aimed his path slightly offset to the massive machine's left side as opposed to dead center. Using his thrust vectoring paddles to redirect the engine thrust directly behind him, he was able to rotate his upper torso about 15 degrees to the right, allowing him to draw back his hammer slightly before delivering a powerful, horizontal swing into the Titan Mimic's upper body as he blasted through. The added speed from the dash attack made the hammer's swing cut through the air so fast, four thin, cloud-like vapor trails stretched from the four corners of the hammer's face, and traced the arc-shaped swing.

As Mach attempted bash the Titan Mimic with a speedy hammer blow, a colossal stone fist materialized in the air above the multi-limbed machine. The entire thing looked to be made of large boulders bound together, and instantly began to fall like a fist-shaped meteorite. With the help of the DashAttack chip, Mach intended to pass through and out of the impact zone along with his decoy; he didn't cut his throttles until he left the crater from which the Titan Mimic emerged, and even then he still flew a significant distance further before he turned back to face his foe once more. He didn't order his other decoy, which continued to harass the Titan Mimic to fall back, with the hope of distracting the enemy enough to not lumber away from the inbound fist. Regardless of the GolemHit chip hitting its target, the pure spectacle of a massive fist of stone crashing down to the network floor would be a sight to behold.

Mach preferred the TitanMimic would be too occupied by the meteoric punch to counterattack, but he prepared himself for it (along with any shrapnel from the impact) just in case. His eye watched for stones, water torrents, or anything else being hurtled at him, and would use his vectored thrust to jet and somersault out of the way if possible. He also wanted to assess what damage he was able to inflict, if any, and glean any more details of the enemy's abilities while his processes were refreshed and debugged in preparation for his next assault.

Observing the Mimic, MachMan proceeded further with his assault, loading up a trio of battlechips into his arsenal. His first attack, which used his own body as a battering ram through the force of the veil of pressurized air around him, was sadly thrown off course, as he veered slightly away from being able to land a decent impact on the machine. Fortunately, his actual weapon, which was a no-nonsense BigHammer, did land a sizable blow on the Mimic, causing it to rumble slightly, reeling from the impact. The rocky meteor-fist would later rocket down towards the machine as well, cracking the ground on which it stood. Some of the waters began draining away from its feet, but it halted suddenly, filling the water back up and even overflowing around the crater to expand the pool slightly. A deep rumble preceded some mechanical noises from inside the heavily damaged machine.

It looked as if he dealt a significant amount of damage to the enemy, but it continued to function and fight on. In fact, there was a foreboding din of mechanical noise coming from the machine, suggesting it was preparing something. It was time to end this, and he planned to do so quickly. After seeing the Mimic draw in and seemingly replenish the Onsen even after the ground was more-or-less shattered by the GolemHit, Mach guessed it might be able to do more with the Onsen than just fill up craters. He turned away and bumped his throttles up, rocketing away in a serpentine path in an attempt to put some distance between him and the enemy, as well as avoid incoming fire from said enemy. Any surviving decoys would've disappeared, only to be refreshed and materialize in a line just ahead of the Navi. They projected their holographic disguises and continued to intermingle with the Navi as he cruised along.

Mazer previously had some concern that his Navi didn't seem to acknowledge the target's terrain-like affinity, but the next message from the Navi made it clear he was aware of that bit of data. " Synapse2Damage: 120 + Piercing + Chain 2

he ordered, his Elec-heavy salvo was his answer to the Titan Mimic's possible elemental properties. ["On their way,"] Mazer responded as he slotted in the listed chips. Meanwhile, the FighterPlane had completed its banking turn towards the Titan Mimic, and rolled in hot for its next gun run. As soon as it got wings-level and had its nose pointed at the massive virus, its small rotary cannon opened up with a buzzing howl and sent a stream of bullets towards its target. Its burst of gunfire didn't last long thanks to the rotary cannon's high RPM, only around 2 seconds, allowing it to bank sharply to the left and veer away to avoid incoming fire and set up another attack run.

The sound of the FighterPlane's gun was Mach's cue to break from his Decoys. All three MachMen split off in separate directions simultaneously, in an attempt to make it difficult for someone in the Titan Mimic's position to tell which one was real. The two mimics split off straight up and down to the right respectively, while Mach split off down and to the left. After the three turned back towards the Titan Mimic, arcs of electricity began to run up their arms and legs towards their respective centers, coming to a point at the tips of their fuselage-shaped chest armor. A split second later, a single white-hot thunderbolt shot from MachMan's chest and careened towards the Titan Mimic's body. If it hit, it would deliver a sizeable jolt of electrical power, as well as arc up to the Fountain Lion atop the massive automaton, then possibly to down to the Onsen pool below to further inundate the machine with electricity.

Expecting a counterattack, Mach and his decoys readied themselves in their triangular formation in the sky ahead of the Titan Mimic, spread a good 30 feet apart. If attacks did indeed go their way, all three would rocket skywards in unison in an attempt to avoid the incoming fire. As Mach dodged, he activated the ElementTrap chip, and checked its status again out of reflex, still not quite used to the chip's nigh undetectable activation. After that, he mentally steeled himself. What he had planned could give him a decisive victory, but it was risky, and if it figuratively and/or literally blew up in his face he'd be caught in the blast wave. His shields still held strong, and the Titan Mimic hopefully was at least partially distracted by the 3 other targets buzzing about, so he begun his assault with a flash of cyan light and disappeared.

An instant later, Mach re-appeared directly "behind" the Titan Mimic in melee range, and his arrival was accompanied by a ear-shattering sonic boom. Program-scrambling shockwaves surged out in every direction in Mach's immediate vicinity, while a much more powerful kinetic shockwave blasted towards the Titan Mimic; it had enough concussive force to not just redirect incoming projectiles, but vaporize them entirely. It's not something one would normally expect, but a program passing and falling back through the sound barrier in milliseconds wasn't exactly "normal" either. To add to his concussive assault, Mach had arrived with his right arm extended out and facing the Titan Mimic. His mechanical fingers were splayed outwards like the rough wireframe outline of a cone, with sparks of electricity crackling amongst his fingers. As soon as he confirmed he was facing in the right direction, he unleashed a torrent of electrical power from the palm of his outstretched hand. Instead of bolts of lightning, the assault took form of peculiar glowing rings, like sound waves made of electricity coming from a hand-shaped speaker. But instead of subjecting the target to some loud tone or semblance of a beat, Mach hoped to deliver a powerful enough shock to cause significant damage and even scramble its programming enough to cause errors and bugs.

The electrical pulses lasted only for a second or two, and Mach didn't want to stay open to a titanic backhand or some other counterattack, so the thrust reverser vents on his engine nacelles opened and his vectoring paddles closed off the exhaust section as he kicked his throttles up. Rings of orange and blue flames burst from the vents, and sent him careening up and back a few feet before he reversed the positions of his vents and paddles and stopping in the air. If the enemy remained standing, he had no intention to give it enough time to even lift a finger. Mach executed one last system refresh before he disabled all of his processing safeties and firewalled his throttles, in an attempt to overclock his cognitive and motor functions to somewhere between 300-400% normal processing/reaction speed. Even in the split second of initiating his incredibly risky maneuver, one could catch a glimpse of his normally dark, nearly black engine nacelles begin to exhibit a deep crimson glow. Instantly searing pain wracked what was left of his body, and the blue and purple thrust cones extended around 10 feet from behind the engine's exhaust sections and the vectoring paddles that valiantly attempted remain functional.

While Mach created some distance between him and the machine, it began to whine slightly, before a huge amount of steam was emitted from its joints. Though it did little to obfuscate the huge machine, the steam clouds were far from normal, as they appeared to warp the space around it. Meanwhile, another hole appeared in the machine's side, and fired a high-pressure water cannon at the approaching FighterPlane, successfully shooting it down before it was able to fire any of its rounds into the machine.

MachMan himself was preparing more attacks, starting off by summoning his clones into different flight loci to deflect attention, before loading up a Synapse battlechip. As soon as the Synapse fired off, however, a warning klaxon blared from the machine, before a red laser fired off from the lion head towards him. Fortunately, he was able to avoid the sudden counterattack due to his timely evasive maneuvers into the air. Unfortunately, his own attack didn't fare too well, as the steam clouds' strange space-warping properties deflected his attack to a slightly different trajectory, causing the attack to bounce off an invisible surface before being absorbed by the lion head atop the machine.

His assault didn't end there, as he rocketed forward, and vanished into thin air, only to reappear at the other end of the machine. The kinetic shockwave slammed against the machine, though its exterior held strong against the attack. The subsequent attack, however, was not successfully deflected, with the ElecPulse's attack heavily damaging the titanic automaton. Smoke began to mix with the steam clouds around the machine, which had begun to show cracks in its exterior while it struggled to keep itself upright. Finally, MachMan executed his last gambit, increasing his cognitive speeds to extreme levels and fueling a huge amount of energy into himself. Time slowed down to a crawl--his target appeared to freeze directly in front of him in silence.

His environment seemed to slow around him and grind to a halt, leaving his enemy nearly as still as the statue atop its massive body. Though his own body was awash with pain, he felt some respite in seeing his enemy become essentially helpless in front of his own eye. The enemy was already critically damaged, and he could finish it off with ease.

He was about to call out to Mazer to get a new salvo of chips to decimate the enemy, but realized in his rush to drive the final nail into the Titan Mimic's proverbial coffin, he jumped the gun and went into overdrive before getting an arsenal uploaded. He opened the minimized external viewpoint from the PET's camera, and could see Mazer's face, frozen just as still as his enemy. He didn't have any chips, and since his "repair," he didn't have his trusty beam cannon or any other weapons available to him, other than his buster.

His engines continued to burn brightly, and the crimson glow gradually spread over his engine nacelles while intensifying in brightness from the rapid heat buildup. His own face started to heat up from his frustration. He had the enemy on a silver platter, but he had no butcher knife with which to carve it up. With only his buster to rely on, both of his hands folded away to reveal their rectangular muzzles. While more powerful than the buster he used when he had "real" arms, some of his kinetic attacks were oddly re-directed by the Titan Mimic's defenses, which would likely do the same to his buster flechette rounds.

Did he ruin this opportunity? The thought quickly reached a boiling point, thanks to his overclocked "brain." "GrraaAAAH! FUUUCK!!!" he roared, cursing his own incompetence and projecting his rage on his enemy. He pointed both busters towards the massive enemy and focused his aim at the machine's core. His HUD, now mostly glitched up thanks to the massive drain on his programming, still managed to open the twin gunsight displays from his twin busters, though he was so close to the enemy it was probably overkill to "gnat's-ass" his aim.

As soon as his aim was considered sound, he opened up with an alternating salvo of buster fire at close range, three shots per buster. From his perspective the barrage was short lived, he fired off all 6 rounds in a little less than 2 seconds, relative to him. To Mazer, however; it was simply too fast for his eyes to detect. Mach hoped the flechette rounds didn't get redirected, or get vaporized by the incredibly rapid acceleration for that matter, and caused enough damage to finally bring the Titan down. By the time the salvo was done, the metal skin of his engine nacelles were glowing mostly orange with heat, with some areas becoming nearly white-hot.

Not convinced his buster salvo would be enough to finish off his target, he tried to predict where the inevitable counter-attacks would come from, and maneuvered himself in a way that he best thought would avoid the possible lines of retaliatory fire. The pain was starting to become unbearable, it seemed his entire program was screaming for relief and on the verge of unraveling from the strain. To avoid his body from catastrophically breaking up, he cut his throttles and re-engaged his program safeties, which quickly knocked his processing speeds back to normal levels. Mach was left with both busters still more-or-less pointing at the Titan Mimic, with his engine nacelles glowing like kiln-fired steel and veiled with rippling heat distortions as they tried desperately to vent off the built-up heat. It had gotten so bad, the rings of his prosthetic shoulder sockets had heated up nearly to the point of searing his flesh. He exhaled roughly, as if he had held his breath for several minutes, and could now feel the all-too-familiar sensation of blood oozing from the still-exposed wounds that covered half of his face.

Finding out that his main supply line had been cut off with the activation of his ultra-fast cognitive overload mode, Machman opted to simply inundate his enemy with a quick barrage of buster fire. Having flanked the machine earlier, the buster fire quickly cracked its exterior and exposed the heart of its operations--a tiny little glowing red crystal. His attack left it riddled with holes just as his processing speed returned to normal--and time resumed. The destruction quickly caught up to the massive machine, and MachMan could see the red crystal briefly lighting up before erupting in a series of fantastic explosions. Creaking sounds accompanied the demise of his enemy, as it crumpled onto its limbs into the pool of water beneath it, sending out tufts of steam in all directions. When the steam cleared, he would be able to see the insides of the machine up for salvage, including a very interesting looking piece of chip data...

Mach crossed his busters across his upper torso out of reflex as the Titan Mimic's core ruptured and exploded, but thankfully he wasn't caught in the blast. As the steam and noise subsided, Mach was finally left with a thoroughly destroyed enemy to salvage. He gingerly used as little engine power as possible to keep himself just above the onsen's surface, and reached into the ruined machine's hull to retrieve the glowing residual data inside.

The pain in his body gradually subsided to a slight all-around ache, and it was further eased by the discovery of a significant chunk of zenny along with a chip he'd never seen before, and a powerful one at that. A moment later, the data disappeared from his hand as it was downloaded to the PET, inciting an impressed whistle from his NetOp. ["Woah, that's a definite keeper; it could do some serious damage in a place like this,"] Mazer exclaimed before he prepped a blank chip for imprinting the data of their newest battlechip. Mach would've felt pleased in taking down such a large target by himself in such little time without so much as a scratch, but he was still irked by his error, he was lucky his barrage of buster fire was enough to bring it down.

Regardless of his lack of joy in victory, it didn't cloud his mind enough to know he had to take a breather. He slowly maneuvered himself away from the ruined hulk and touched down on the pebbles around the onsen. His mechanical feet kept him steady on the slightly soft terrain, and he turned his engines off to allow his still glowing nacelles to vent. With the droning hum of his engines gone, he could hear the occasional pop and chirp of metal panels shrinking back to their normal size after having been bloated by thermal expansion.

After about a minute or two, Mach collected himself and started to walk towards the road, then further into the network if the road or any solid terrain led that way.

((Ready for Battle #6))
As Mach continued into the depths of the chaotic networks, water leaking down from the networks above with a loud drip drop like in the depths of a basement. Before long he could hear the loud blowing of a massive fan, sitting on a bed of coals, a TempestBox blew outwards towards Machman despite his double helping of shoes. A faint sizzle and heated redness from where the fan-lookalike as a slimy Snooziest slept with a large snot bubble as it rested with a light heat from underneath it. On either side of the square of coals, warm Onsen panels simmered as a Shrimpy3 on the left onsen carried an even darker Snooziest atop it's back, obviously straining from the weight of the blob atop it's back. On the other side, a cloud of mist hung over the right Onsen pool, with a faint splashing underneath it, the last virus submerged and invisible from Machman's line of sight. On either Onsen was a brick red colored rockcube floating atop each onsen, providing heated water as it bubbled and spat forth into the air periodically. And just behind the TempestBox, despite the transparent slime of the Snooziest, he could see a purple hue just hidden out of sight.

SnooziestSnooziest (Snoozy)

Snoozy are about 2 feet tall, and are shaped like a white translucent blob of goo, forming a basic head, body, and arm, with the body trailing behind. The head has an oversized nightcap covering most of it, colored dark blue, with white dots as stars. The end of the nightcap has a hanging moon from it. The lone arm carries a thick white pillow by the corner, with some down leaking out of a tear. The coloring scheme of its main body changes with its version. Snoozier are red, and Snooziest are blue. A menacing black Snoozy DS has an additional feature of serrated teeth forming a giant jaw. EX forms are darker shades of their originals. Snoozy attack by flailing their white pillows around and spreading their apparent sleepiness around. They start their attack by teleporting up to their targets. The teleport counts as a dodge if utilized correctly. They then teleport back to their original spot, and do not move otherwise. They may use their secondary full-heal at any time, though they are more likely to do so when they are injured. Snoozy viruses only appear when there is cover to hide behind, and will stay behind this cover for the entirety of the battle except to attack. They will not appear otherwise. If their cover is destroyed, they will attempt to flee starting next turn if they do not have a specified object chip to be dispensed first.

he ordered while he continued to slowly march ahead.

[Back to going all-out, hm?] Mazer wondered of his Navi while he slotted in the large salvo of chips one by one. Mach likely would've started to feel the punishing winds of the TempestBox blowing against him, and thanks to the coal on which it sat, the air likely wouldn't have done much to help cool his engines down. Regardless, he came to a stop before bolts of electricity snapped amongst his limbs and angular control surfaces, then he seemed to explode in a pulse of electrical power. However, the "explosion" seemed to stop just outside of his arms and legs respective reach, leaving behind a glowing yellow aura that thrummed with energy.

Though he'd activated a powerful elemental defensive chip, it had its limits. He expected the enemy to mount their attack, so he began an "assault" of his own. While he was triggering his ElecAura chip, he had also summoned his twin decoys, which fell into a single-file line behind him. Now at the ready, Mach commanded them forward without so much as uttering a word, prompting his twin doppelgangers, complete with their own electrical auras, to charge ahead and attempt to distract and disrupt the viruses' assault. Even with his decoys running interference, he didn't rule out the possibility of viruses still getting through. He kept his eye out for inbound attacks, ones from the misty cloud in particular, then juked back and to the side with the help of his antigrav drives and a burst of reversed thrust from his turbojets.

More electricity surged over his body, but instead of exploding outwards, it arced towards his chest and came to a point at the tip of his fuselage-shaped armor. A moment later, a white-hot bolt of lightning careened towards the Misty virus with a loud thunderclap. If the bolt hit its target and gave it a powerful jolt of electricity (which might even arc to and from the onsen below, further intensifying the blast), the bolt changed direction and arced towards the TempestBox near the middle of the battlefield. The bolt's path wasn't random, it was being selective with its victims, and somehow controlled by Mach's thoughts. After hopefully giving the TempestBox a nice helping of over-voltage, the bolt arced again, this time to the floating Shrimpy virus in an attempt to fry it in its own carapace.

Expecting another wave of counterattacks, Mach fell back again, but also kicked off to perch a few feet in the air as his right forearm and hand pointed towards the viruses. Said forearm and hand were immediately swarmed in a flurry of glowing data packets and pieces of metal, and left his limb reformatted into a large triple-barreled cannon a mere couple seconds later. A targeting crosshair materialized in his vision, which corresponded to the firing barrel's boresight. He promptly aimed the cannon and laid its respective crosshairs dead center on the gaseous virus, if it evaded deletion thus far, then fired. With a loud boom and a flash of fire and smoke, his body jolted backwards almost half a foot from the cannon's sizeable recoil. This was due to the cannon's heavy, large-bore explosive round, which glowed slightly as it sailed towards the Misty, followed by a fiery explosion.

The three barrels rotated 120 degrees on their assembly center point, causing the next loaded barrel to clunk into place while the spent one continued to radiate whisps of white smoke. He eased the weapon towards his next target, and quickly placed the crosshairs on the face of the TempestBox's fan, centered right on its fans' spindle. He fired again, his vision temporarily reduced by the ring of dark smoke that spread outwards from the muzzle blast, but not enough to obscure the view of his target, which he hoped to perforate with a single high-explosive round. If the din of the artillery fire and possible death throws of its perch weren't enough to wake up the snoozing virus atop the TempestBox, the third and final explosive round rocketing towards it would serve as one hell of a wake up call.

After he expended all three rounds and deactivated the Magnum, curving white waves of energy rippled over and through his body to debug and restore any inhibited functions, and hopefully allow him to activate the last half of his salvo without hindrance. The ElementTrap's activation was underwhelming and mostly undetectable, but his newest chip went off in a dazzling display of hydraulic might. Several powerful geysers erupted from the onsen pools without warning or any discernible origin, hopefully battering and generally tossing about any viruses that weren't on dry land.

While some of the battlefield erupted with sudden pillars of water, Mach again raised his right arm, but this time extended it completely out, upper arm and all. Suddenly his forearm and closed fist seemed to duplicate, then triplicate, leaving the Navi with three identical forearms and fists arranged in a triangular formation like missiles slung on a tri-mount pylon beneath an aircraft wing. A second later, all three ripple-fired from his upper arm like a trio of missiles, propelled by solid rocket motors and arced in the same general direction to bear down on the TempestBox and the Snooziest. Two of the rocket fists tried to punch through the TempestBox and reduce the appliance-inspired virus to a hung of battered metal, while the third attempted to dive straight down upon the slimy virus like a fist-shaped nail.

As Mach's heavy presence arrived, some of the groggier viruses began to wake up and rouse. the crash of his aura activating made the Snoozy ones flinch with a start and set them blinking. More on the ball, the Shrimpy saw three figures forming a line and swiftly shot a bubble attack at them, thinking to capitalise upon its favourite target pattern; Mach dodged away as the shot struck the decoy just behind him, while the one behind that darted away, getting clear of the splitting bubbles to continue its mission.

Unfortunately, before Mach could begin his target practice, a click from the mechanical virus saw a change in its modes, and the suddenly strong wind pulling towards it across the field seemed to suck away his electrified aura effortlessly, as well as making it harder for Mach to move precisely. the curling steam-cloud virus seemed to be weaving as it looked for the right moment to rush either Mach, or his decoy; it seemed undecided, but as Mach unleashed his synaptic shock, the misty curled up and around the bolt, scattering away and dodging it. The electricity arced into the onsen and diffused, unable to direct itself onwards. The Misty's focus now turned squarely on Mach, the harassment of his remaining clone forgotten.

The two sleeping viruses were sleeping no more, and after blinking a few times and looking about groggily, they both teleported off their respective virus body-pillows and attempted to strike Mach with their pillows. Well, the slightly more intelligent Snoozy did, anyway. The lighter coloured one took a swing at his decoy, batting it into oblivion and looking confused when nothing remained, before warping back again. The darker one took a swing at Mach, but despite the tugging winds making it very hard for him to escape the flailing pillow, he still managed to avoid getting slapped by it for now, and a moment later, the virus teleported back again as well.

As this exchange occurred, the Piranha, previously hidden beneath the water's surface, popped up and began scanning the field. Its focus lit on Mach before long and it locked onto him with intent. Mach wasn't waiting; his magnum came next, marking and firing at the wavering mist cloud, as well as the TempestBox and the Snoozy on top of it. All three shots connected, and though the mist cloud held together, the panel cracked beneath the Tempest box as the first shot connected. The next shot, hitting the Snoozy carried enough impact to see the panel shatter and break completely, and a moment later both of the viruses dropped, rather suddenly, into a deep hole. Blessedly, the wind seemed to stop, though the sounds of the tempest box sucking for all it was worth could still be heard emanating from the pit.

Seeing its moment to try again, the Shrimpy had another go at pinging Mach with its bubble,s but this time Mach had an ever better trick up his sleeve. His elemental trap blasted the Shrimpy hard even as it tried to attack him, and though the virus endured the hit, its aim was thrown off badly enough that the stream of bubbles arced up into the sky as the two water spouts puffed more fountains of onsen merrily into the air.

Distracted by making this counter count, Mach missed the way the Misty virus drifted up on him from behind, then enveloped the navi in a cloud of burning, scalding steam. The mist penetrated everywhere, scouring its way through him as it passed, and though his automatic processes quickly cleared the lingering burn effect form him, the scorching mist itself had left some structural damage.

The Piranha took Mach's moment of discomfort to launch a trio of arrows at him; two hit, with the third going wide. Compared to the punches that other viruses were throwing around here, the individual tridents seemed relatively weak, but Mach was wise enough to know that it could put out a substantial volume of the spears if left alone.

With its Shrimpy pillow having abandoned it, the darker coloured Snoozy teleported towards Mach again and took another swipe; This time its flailing managed to connect with him, sending an acute wave of drowsiness washing across his body and mind. The virus teleported back behind one of the water spouts, taking cover from Mach, now that its job was done. There was no sign of the second Snoozy; faint snoring could be heard from the hole that Mach had dropped it into, alongside the frustrated whirring of the Windbox virus. Perhaps it found the mechanical vibrations soothing.

Mach's aqua attack burst up from the onsen pools a moment later, blasting the Shrimpy and the Piranha up into the air briefly before they fell back with a splash. Only the Piranha surfaced again. The darker Snoozy, too, was not safe from the sudden geysers, despite its cover, and Mach saw it thrown into the air as well, before it dropped back behind the cube, out of sight. A column also burst up directly under the Misty virus, but even though the water jet went right through it, the steam cloud didn't seem bothered by the attack. Instead, it rushed Mach again, passing through him a second time and scalding him further. this time the lingering burn stuck a round, and unless he took care of it soon, it would continue to damage his body.

The Piranha, badly hurt, continued to attack Mach in frenzy. This time only one of its tridents manage to wing him. Mach ignored the relatively weak spears and turned his attention on the hole in the ground that he'd created. He sent a trio of meteor fists towards it, and though two of the three fists clearly went into the hole cleanly it was hard to tell which viruses he hit. The sound of delicate snoring continued from the hole, and was joined by more snoring from the far side of the water fountain. The Windbox clicked and changed its fan cycle, to no effect as long as it remained in the bottom of a hole. The drowsiness began to threaten taking a firmer hold of Mach as a brief lull in the combat opened up.

-=Mach has 2 Successful Scramble Movements This Turn=-

Mach's growing rage for yet another mistake was quickly drowned out by the overwhelming drowsiness inflicted upon him by one of the Snoozy viruses. His engines coughed out and he plunged into the onsen below as his system refresh kicked in. His systems quickly came alive again and the grogginess seemed to disappear in an instant, allowing him to hear Mazer calling out to him over their comm line. ["Wake up, Mach! We've still got this! I have chips on the way, waste that cloud virus and engage the enemy in the other onsen, we can deal with the others later!"] the bespectacled man urged as he uploaded a set of chips to the Navi.

Though it felt like every inch of his body was covered in hot coals, he willed himself back into action. His frame was quickly flooded with regenerative energy while his multi-layered blue energy shields raised in front of him, unimpeded by the warm waters of the onsen pool in which he was partially submerged. His mental clarity was more-or-less fully restored by the time he recognized the ElecPulse chip was successfully uploaded to his system. He didn't expect the assault to stop, so his vector paddles closed over his jet engines' exhaust while the reverser vents snapped open a split second before he popped his throttles forward. Multiple small spikes of blue and purple flame burst forward from the reverser vents near the midsection of his engine nacelles, which drove the Navi back and away from Misty.

A split second later, the vents closed and the thrust vectoring paddles angled upwards, causing his body to pitch backwards before rocketing upwards with a howl of engine noise. His entire body burst up from the onsen like a submarine-launched missile, and rolled 180 degrees so his canopy and upper surface of his fuselage was then facing towards the Misty and its Piranha compatriot. Mach's neck and torso strained from the maneuvering, and he grunted through the pain to lock his eye on the two viruses below before he punched his open right hand towards them.

His mechanical fingers were splayed outwards like the rough wireframe outline of a cone, with sparks of electricity crackling amongst his fingers. As soon as he felt the two viruses were within the blast radius, he unleashed a torrent of electrical power from the palm of his outstretched hand. Instead of bolts of lightning, the assault took form of peculiar glowing rings, like sound waves made of electricity coming from a hand-shaped speaker. He intended to inundate the two viruses with more than enough electrical power to obliterate both of them, but even if they did manage to survive, the attack would've left their data scrambled and glitched.

The torrent of electricity didn't last long, but he tried to keep his hand pointed towards the two viruses for the entire duration of the assault before it fizzled out. Once the chip's power was depleted, his thrust vectoring and control surfaces twisted to direct the howling roar of his engine thrust to snap his body upright and pointing towards the Snooziest virus at the opposite onsen pool. Another burst of pain shot through his body as what was left of him was forcibly thrown into position, followed by the rapid onset of G forces as he rocketed towards the virus with the help of the DashAttack chip's power. His engines roared and spewed long cones of blue and purple flame as he streaked across the battlefield like a missile. A barrier of pressurized stretched over his body like a veil-like battering ram, while his right hand snapped and cracked as it reformatted itself into a set of wickedly curved blade-like claws.

He aimed directly at the Snooziest, and didn't care if the water fountain stood in the way; he'd simply power through. Regardless of whether or not he hit his target, he would've crashed down into the onsen with a colossal splash, which would've hopefully served as a decent speed break. As soon as he crash-landed in the pool, he turned with an unnervingly mechanical quickness to the virus in his immediate vicinity, and snapped his clawed right hand open. With no other warning, he whipped his claw over the virus's position with a horizontal swipe in an attempt to cut the squishy virus into several slices, or at least tear the enemy open. If it continued to function, Mach followed up and rotated his wrist 180 degrees with a mechanical *crack*, so he could deliver a slicing backhand over the virus's position in the hopes of securing its fate.

Snooziest EX
Urged to rouse himself by his operator, MachMan forcefully expelled the drowsiness from his systems before he partially submerged himself in the warm water (+6) and began regenerating his wounds and setting up defenses. (+135) It was enough to offset the effects of the scalding burns, though not quite enough. His rapid movements were able to avoid a few sharp tridents fired his way from the Piranha virus, while also moving out of range of the Misty's burning touch. Responding to the attacks, he burst out of the water and unleashed an electrical storm on the two water-bound viruses, deleting them in a flash. Afterwards, he turned his attention to one of the sleeping blob-like viruses, taking advantage of its vulnerable state to rake it to shreds.

Elsewhere, in a hole blasted open by one of Mach's earlier attacks, the remaining Snooziest woke up from its nap, oblivious to the state of its comrades as the TempestBox underneath it continued to blindly suck in air, with no way of knowing what it did and no chance of getting itself out of the hole it was in. Mach felt the scalding heat from the Misty's earlier touch burn through most of the recovery he did earlier, though it was also mitigated by the water. (-15x6+6x2)
