...telephones are not

Continued from here

On the other side of the telephone pole, a small eye grew at the base of the panels representing the ground, before swelling outward. From the pupil, a hand cloaked in darkness began to extend upward, before an arm followed, and then the rest of the body belonging to Vigil. "Vigil.exe has arrived in the Net."

"It's still a phone pole. Don't get too excited," Alexander's voice echoed from the other side.

"I must say, being in this close of proximity to a pole is-"

"Stop."

Vigil let out a small laugh, moving her fingers to her lips in a sort of dainty gesture. Murmuring beneath her breath in a nonsensical tongue, Vigil extended a hand, forming a small, spherical eye that blinked once. "Go, my child. Dearest Alexander wants us to find a virus to destroy...let us see what we can find..."

The eye blinked once more, before it began to rocket off across the Net, beginning to hunt for something for its mistress...

[Vigil.exe is seeking a battle!]
Vigil found herself in a fairly safe part of the ACDC Network. In face there wasn't much around at all. The setting was simple, with normal tiles stretching out pretty far in each immediate direction. The digital sky was purple, with floating yellow telephone patterns floating back and forth. As if continuing that picture three Metool could be seen falling from the sky out of no where, each landing in front of the Navi. Each virus had spawned with a large yellow telephone strapped to their helmet, giving them a slight altered appearance from the norm. Though their look was different, the enemies held their same instincts and prepared to attack the unwelcome intruder.

-- Battle 1 Ready? Start!! --
Vigil gave a small sound, almost like a dreamy sigh as she saw her little eye familiar dart around, the woman not able to see on her own with the aid of them. However, as it did so, it paused, suddenly turning to look back toward her. The woman set her elbow of her right arm into her left hand as her fingertips splayed across her cheek in silent curiosity as the three metools began to descend from on high. "How very curious."

"We've got incoming, Vigil," Alexander's voice carried over the PET, and the woman's smile widened slightly.

"I can see them, dear. Thank you for the information though," she spoke, the woman's heeled boots clicking lightly on the floor as she took just a few steps forward toward the descending enemies. "Oh you poor dears. Forced to work on such a boring project. I will make certain that you get the break that you deserve," she cooed, her tongue emerging from between her lips as she let it run along her painted red lips. The tongue seemed longer and more sinuous than it should be, before it slipped back in between her lips.

The inability to see the woman's face above her nose made the action a bit unseemly, but she paid it little mind as the eye that she controlled moved, operating opposite of the direction that Alexander was seeing through his PET, giving the woman a clear view of the battlefield. However, with these creatures here, she couldn't quite focus on her little toy as much as she'd liked to. The battle at hand required more focus.

"Slotting in a shotgun. I trust you know how to handle it." Alexander's voice came through the air, and Vigil let a smile grace her features.

"Of course, dear..." she spoke, the woman making a singular gesture with one hand. As she did so, the eye that had heralded her arrival began to widen a bit as the pupil contracted, and a scintillating light burst forth from where the iris would be. Under the cover of the light, the woman twirled once, the pupil beneath her suddenly becoming almost as a liquid as it reached up, swallowing her whole. As she began her movement, a second eye seemed to 'open' from the ground, and the darkness that was Vigil shot from one open eye's pupil to the other, as the one that she escaped from began now to close.

Reforming from the liquid darkness, the woman gave a small laugh then, slightly off in its tonality as the eye she stood upon widened slightly, as if in excitement. She extended her right hand, palm out facing the Phonetools. From before her palm, an eye formed from the nothingness in an instant. "Shotgun, slot in~" she nearly moaned, the excitement from her palpable in the air as the eye widened.

Her methodology for her movement was rather simple- the creatures had landed all in front of her. She'd simply used the field of vision from Alexander's PET and her own eye familiar to determine where the closest line of two had been. In this instance, it was just off to the left, which had been her path of movement, with the Iris Layer to protect her from any attacks that the Phonetools may have performed during her movement.

"Fire~!"

Having met the network's own twist on the lowly yellow-hatted Metools, Vigil started the battle off by surrounding herself with a protective layer from the eye that she had summoned, before hopping off to the side. The hop was well-timed, as the Metools had synchronized an attack by lifting their mattocks in sync and crashing them onto the ground, creating a forked attack to trap her within it. Fortunately, Vigil managed to slip between two of them, and counterattacked with the Shotgun chip, loaded into one of her eyes. The blast was aimed perfectly, disintegrating two of the viruses in an instant, leaving one remaining on the field, with its comically large eyes sternly matching her own familiars' glares.

As the woman came to a stop, the eye releasing the shotgun blast before it faded into obscurity, Vigil couldn't help but to set a her fingers on her face once more, splaying them wide as the thought of the decimation of the Viruses sent her into a giddy little tizzy. She gave a little moan, biting her bottom lip as the two taht she'd aimed had went the way of the dinosaur. "Those poor little creatures. Destined to be torn apart by my hand..." she whispered, before she turned to see the other one still remaining. "Poor dear...all alone in this world..." she cooed, even as she watched the little creature in its anger.

"Just one left. You're doing well."

"Of course I'm doing well," the woman responded, the hand at her face beginning to move down over her form in a slow manner that earned a small 'whoop' from Travis. "I can see everything that's happening here..." she breathed. Her tone was hungry, almost, and a little wistful for the chance to delete another one of the phonetools. With her free hand, she made another small gesture, creating another one of the little eyes. "Go on, my dear. Find me a new vantage point," she cooed at it, and the little eyeball shot off toward another direction, off behind her in the event that any of the phonetool's friends wanted to get some revenge.

Three vantage points now...how quaint.

She turned her attention back to the creature before her then, before her hand extended, and another eye emerged. "Battlechip slotted in," she murmured, her voice like velvet as she darted forward suddenly, a cloud of darkness wrapping around where her feet were as she glided forward. However, Vigil was fully aware of how the metools tended to attack, with the pickaxe of theirs, or perhaps this one used a phone? She wasn't quite sure, but it was generally an attack straight forward at her.

As she reached a point of almost no return, she suddenly pivoted, letting the darkness just simply dissipate as she actually placed her foot upon the ground and used the momentum to push herself to the right. As soon as she landed, the flash of dark energy came from her right hand and the familiar eye appeared, this one equipped with a Cannon. "Goodnight, sweetie," she cooed as the blast fired at near point-blank, hopefully ridding herself of the metool threat!

The remaining PhoneTool was left to face its tactful opponent by its lonesome as she easily defeated its to brethren. It unstrapped the phone off of its head and tossed it towards Vigil, to no avail however since she was able easily side step the attack. With the Cannon pointed directly at its face, the Metool closed its eyes out of anticipation of the attack. With one blast the battle came to a close, and the virus vanished giving way to a small reward.

As the creature fell, deleted, Vigil gave a small, satisfied sigh. "How absolutely delightful," she spoke with a sing-song tone, looking over the remnants of the deleted viruses. Looking onward at the fallen creatures, she realized then that there was a bit left behind. "How curious..." she spoke, the woman walking for the first time as she moved, her hips swaying slightly in the tight dress, moving closer to where the chip data was. "Alexander~ A present for you."

~~

Back out in the real world, Alexander frowned slightly as the data came across. "Hm. That was more effective than I'd expected."

"See? Phone pole is the best," Travis said with a grin, slapping his 'friend' on the shoulder, earning a glare from Alexander almost immediately. "I've had a lot of luck here. But if you keep smacking things around you can find some really rare stuff."

Alex frowned for a moment, before looking back at the PET. "You good for another round?"

"Baby I can go all night~"

"Stop. All right then. Let's see what else we can find."

~~

Inside, Vigil moved slowly, the eye overlay on the ground following her as she moved, forcing her to remain in the pupil at any given point. She wasn't familiar with this part of the network, but right now there were some things she was curious about. "You think I can access other people's phone conversations here?"

"I think that doing that is illegal," came Alexander's dry reply.

"Oh come now, Alex. Let me see if I can find some juicy secrets for you about your fellow classmates~" the woman spoke, moving closer to a data node that seemed to handle some of the transfer of data while her scouts continued to keep an eye out. (hah!)

Vigil.exe looking for battle round two!
As Vigil moved a little further into ACDC's network, the telephone theme seemed to continue. She came across another flat plain, except in the center was a T-shaped hole. What caused the hole? Who knows... but on either side of it were two viruses, staring at Vigil as she approached. On the left was a ghost draped in purple cloth, as it floated along side a smiling Powie. The two viruses hovered at ground level in front of a large yellow telephone booth. A bright glowing green light flashed from behind it's closed door.

On the opposite side she could see a second Spooky dressed similarly, this one floating beside a humming Beetank. Just like the opposite side, they stood in front of a closed phone booth, this one however didn't seem to hold any sort of treat. Upon deeper observation, the Navi could see a telephone strapped to all four of the viruses head, just as the Metool had earlier. The tank spun its wheels fast and fired of a harmless warning shot, that landed further behind Vigil. Would it scare her away? Or would she stand and fight?

-- Battle 2 Ready? Start!! --
"Oh ho..."

The woman's words fell from her lips as she paused just before the sudden break in the environment. This was...curious. She certainly hadn't expected to run across anything like this. Alexander had her often doing battle with things that weren't exactly the most difficult to handle, but at the same time they were often set in something of a flat, open field. Or a colisseum, or any number of boring, flat area. This already was proving to be far more exciting than what she'd seen before.

"Are you all right in there?" Alexander's cvoice came through, not sounding concerned, but almost a little bit irritated at her lackadaisacal pace through this.

"I'm quite fine my dear. This has gotten me so much more excited than you do," she said with a small, tittering laugh, which she heard echoed by Travis nearby. "I think that this will prove to be ae most entertaining little battle," she continued as she moved forward.

She knew that the ghosts were a rather tenuous sort- she wouldn't be able to simply approach them head on. That would make this a great deal more annoying to deal with, but that annoyance only made her that much more excited to do battle with these creatures. Decimating them quickly was the obvious method here to succeed, but that didn't mean that it was something that was easily accomplished. The beetank was a little less worrisome, but it was still a formidable foe in its own right, much like the Powie that lurcked nearby.

A quick catalogue of her armaments made her realize that this would be a bit more annoying than she'd planned to deal with. First and foremost, however, she'd deal with the Powie...the others she felt she'd have a pretty decent time with, as from what she remembered, the Spooky were mostly...fast. And annoying.

Her environs, however, put her at an even more amusing light as she realized that the booth near the Powie, her target, had something hiding within it. How curious.

"Let us dance, my pretties~!" she called, making a rolling gesture with one arm, letting one of her eyes spawn, adding to her field of vision. "Go now, dear," she spoke, the eye blinking once before it began to zoom, aiming to move as far as its nonexistent legs could carry it to the right part of the T-shaped missing floor, giving her that full ability to see. As it moved, she turned her attention to the viruses before she smirked, beginning to weave her head and then upper torso slightly in place.

And then much like before, a flare of light moved up around her, the eye-shaped design in the ground beneath her radiating light. The little things this far were far too far away forr her to simply do a little jump like she had before, which was going to make her easier to hit- she needed to make sure she was properly protected after all. So the woman once more moved, undulating her body as a second eye opened up near the Powie and Ghost that were on the left of the T. Once more wreathering herself in the darkness of the pupil, letting it slide up over her body, she let it encompass her legs before she drifted forward, moving much as she had before, until she had managed herself to get closer to her targets.

The Spooky was undoubtedly going to move, but she wasn't wholly unprepared if it didn't. But even so, the thing that had her attention now was the Powie "Good night, sweet prince," she breathed, the eye beneath her giving another widening as if it were her own widening with the excitement and pleasure before the Cannonfire rocketed outward, aiming to obliterate the Powie!

Iris Layer - 1

Seeing that Vigil wasn't going to leave the TeleTank sped to the edge of it's terrain, firing off another bomb, this time it was aimed at her... however it's aim wasn't so good and it went far. She raised her defense and barrier'd up, ready to get to work, the Navi chose to go to the left and target the Powie.

As soon as Vigil made her way to the left side to target the Powie, both ghost vanished one right after another. They reappeared on each of her sides, and lashed their sticky tongues against her barrier. The first tongue was to no avail, while the second one did nothing more then disrupt the Navi's layer of protection. It looked as if the Powie was going to hop, but just as it started to rise, Vigil fired off her cannon, ultimately bringing the enemies count down to three.

The Teletank's attack went wide, and for that, Vigil was very thankful, as the spookies that had acosted her from either side had been far more aggressive than she'd been prepared for! Thankfully, she managed to weave out of the way of one attack, but the other crashed against her Iris Layer, causing it to fizzle out. What a pity. She rather liked how gallant she looked when she was moving about, with the scintillating colors surrounding her and giving her a more powerful appearance. However, it seemed that such was not the case, right now. That was fine- she would carry out her just revenge as she needed to.

"Looks like your barrier's down. How are you holding up?" Alexander's voice came through.

"Just peachy, darling. Nothing to worry about."

"Are you sure? Things look less fluid than they did against the Metools."

Vigil gave a small smile as she shook her head, the eyes stitched into her robe swaying with her movements as they fixated on the two Spookies that were still on either side of her. "You're always so worried about me, Alexander. It's enough to make a girl blush."

There was little more than a frustrated sigh on the other end, and Vigil turned her multiple gazes on the creatures near her, before the eye beneath her feet widened in a slight excitement. "I think it's time we played a little game. Won't you play?" she asked, before she moved, then, turning once more into liquid darkness as she darted around behind where the Telephone Booth was, using the vision that she had from the eye she'd placed...as well as the other that had rolled out while she was talking to Alexander to add her precision. The eye that was nearest the Teletank began to focus intently on its movements, giving Vigil all the information she'd need to deal with an attack from it, should it choose to launch another bomb.

"Peekaboo!" she called, her long tongue thrashing about over her fangs as she unleashed the potent Shotgun into, and through, the Telephone booth before her, aiming to blast through and strike the Spook on the other side.

Despite her eye barrier having been destroyed, Vigil wasn't unnerved much, instead ducking to her side to put the telephone booth between her and the Spooky. Doing this managed to give her the slip against one of their eager licks, right as she produced another eye to give her more of a view of the field. With a clear view of the Spooky on the other side of the booth through her Eyes, she then unleashed a Shotgun on the booth, aiming to use the firearm's penetrating shell to destroy the ghost on the other side. Unfortunately, all she accomplished was destroying the booth, as well as the green Mystery Data crystal inside, with the Spooky escaping unscathed. Her flub was accompanied by an explosive shell fired from the Beetank that sailed towards her, though thankfully it was aimed slightly too high and simply exploded behind her, cracking the floor where it landed.

"Vigil."

She could hear the sound of disappointment in Alexander's voice. She'd overestimated the strength of her weapon, it seemed. However, not one to be disappointed herself, the woman simply smiled wide, the eyes around her feeding her visuals on the battlefield. "Oops. Silly me," she spoke, giving a small sound of laughter.

"There was a mystery data there we could have used. You've destroyed the chance for raw power with that blast of yours."

"Tsk tsk. You act like it's the end of the world, dear. I'll just see about finishing off what remains here and then we'll just find another one!"

The woman gave a small grin then, not bothering to move from her current position, at least at the moment. She had seen these two Spookies dance around a little now, and from the information constantly feeding in, she felt she could...anticipate where they might be going.

However, she would need to make sure her movements were timed just right in order to snag them. "Alexander, load in the ShockWave, if you could please."

"Battlechip set. Execute."

"Mmmm...gladly."

Vigil moved, the shadowy darkness flaring up beneath her as she extended her hand downward, even as the eyes around the battlefield watched where the Spookies were. She'd only have one chance at this, and didn't want to cause an issue. There was so much that could go wrong, and the smallest nanosecond of indecision could ruin this...it just didn't help that the spookies were so flighty- or rather, perhaps it did. A small smirk flitted across her features as an idea came to her.

Unmoving, she waited for the exact moment before she shot the chip through her right arm, an eye firing outward and shrieking toward the ground. As soon as it slammed into the ground, it began tearing up the ground in front of it, and it was then that Vigil finally moved, her light footsteps taking her over the cracked panel, aiming to limit the movement of these ghost viruses. She came to stand even with the Spookies here and there, in the attempt to coerce them toward her oncoming line of destruction..!

Using her eyes to her advantage, the Navi tried to take aim, but before she launched her attack in came a Spooky. The nasty ghost was right in Vigil's face, out popped its tongue that just wasn't strong enough to breach the shield and do actual damage. Before it moved, she released a roaring shockwave that tore )through the virus, and the terrain. Vigil dashed off, breaking some of the cracked ground as she ran across it, hoping to keep the second Spooky in the path of her attack. The virus was focused on her so much that it only seen the wave of energy when it was too late. It tried to dodge, but wasn't fast enough, the wave ran the Spooky through taking out both ghost like it had intended.

The BeeTank really should crawl somewhere else and practice its aim, because even if Vigil hadn't been moving, it still couldn't hit her. Another bomb flew in her direction, but kept going... she would think it was a home run at how high and far it was over her head.

Vigil gave a small sound of satisfaction as the ShockWave tore through the spooky viruses. Now she just had the big boy left. The Teletank had misfired yet again, and that was fine by her- she'd need to get in close anyway to do any real damage to him. Then again, with him being as far away as he was, she wondered if perhaps his aim was limited in range. If she got closer, perhaps he might be more...dangerous. Granted, she could easily begin to rain down attacks from afar. It wouldn't be the...fastest way to bring down the Teletank, but it would at least be the safest. "Alexander, you don't mind if I stay over here and stay away from that big bad Beetank, do you?"

"You're fine. You can destroy him in the blink of an eye."

"I know I'm fine, sweetheart," the woman cooed, earning another sigh from Alexander on the other end. Still, she figured the best way to bring down her foe would be to stay at range and decimate him from afar. However, Alexander apparently believed differently. She exhaled, shaking her head slightly before she pirouetted upon her right foot, an eye opening up near the Teletank as she began to shoot across toward the teletank. As she reached the gap, she readied the energie within her legs, pushing down with enough force to clear the distance before coming to a sliding stop right next to the virus.

"Just give up now, little tank. I assure you that if you stay to play with me, I'll make it long and painful," she cooed, grinning and revealing the rows of fangs that lingered within her mouth before her hands began to elongate into wicked claws, and she slashed not one, but TWICE at the Teletank, the woman's bloodthirst grin not fading in the slightest.

While Vigil and Alexander talked strategy, the Beetank grew impatient. Finally finding something that somewhat resembled a good aim, it launched another bomb. It flew high into the sky, over the missing, before finally crashing down a little ways down from the Navi. The explosions blast radius was the viruses only redeeming factor, because when after taking a portion of damage from the bomb(-15), Vigil lept over the missing to unleash a near perfect double slash. Connecting on both hits to delete the virus, she brought an end to the second battle.

The residual blast hit the woman and that fueled her viciousness even more as she tore into the Teletank, leaving it with nothing left of itself, save the broken bits of its data still lingering around. In fact, Vigil's keen eyesight noted the fact that the data left behind had something...more to it. With a smile playing over her lips, she reached out, gently touching the data and adding it to her repertoire.

"Oh no~" she lamented suddenly, looking down.

"What is it? Are you okay?" Alexander's voice came through on the other side, not quite concerned, but definitely with more emotion in his voice than he normally had.

"I'm fine. My dress is just torn. Must have been the proximity from that Beetank. Oh well. It'll all come out in the wash."

"You don't wash your clothes."

"But I could. Would you help me take them-"

"Stop."

A bout of giggles left the woman's mouth, before she looked back at the telephone booth that had held the Mystery Data. She'd have to remember that in the future. Both for her own offense and defending against attacks in the future. "Am I to keep going?"

"Might as well. Let's see what else this network holds."

"Understood~" Vigil responded, sashaying her way forward.

Vigil.exe looking for a FIGHT (Round 3)
Continuing on her journey through the telephone laced area in ACDC's Net, Vigil came across another hole. This one, would be to large to jump over in traditional means. She could walk around, but on the left side was a furious looking OldStove Virus, that spouted a puff a steam as it eyed the incoming Navi. On the right side of the hole was a Champu, that practiced it's jab and hook in preparation of the battle.

Running the length of the hole, directly in the center was a bridge about two panels wide, the only problem was, the panels were jagged and cracked all the way across. It didn't seem to bother the sleeping Spikey that rested in the center. The cellphone that was strapped to it's head woke it up with a loud abrupt ring, as if it was signaling an incoming enemy. Behind the Spikey, on the other side of the bridge was a Miner. It floated just above the surface, with a devilish grin on its face. As with the Spikey, and all the viruses before this group continued the trend of having telephones strapped to their heads.

As Vigil strode forward, the darkness under her dress acting as her feet as she was propelled forward, the woman paused as she looked out over the battlefield that loomed before her. "Oh how curious~" she cooed, before she glanced skyward. "Alexander, are you seeing this?"

"I see it. You'll want to watch out for that bridge. It doesn't look safe. There's probably a bit of structural weakness there. Probably why we get busy signals sometimes."

"That and these viruses-" she began, before the alarm on the Spikey began to go off, and she moved a hand over her mouth giving a small laugh. "Looks like they're all ready to play. SHould I play with them?" she asked, the woman already beginning to fashion an eye which she sent off to her left, letting it remain there for now and give her a better scope of vision on the battle.

"You're going to need to go past them, so I would."

The woman gave a small smile then, which spread into a grin, showing elongated fangs as she ran her tongue over her teeth, letting it lash out several times in excitement as the eye to her left began to widen as it examined the Spikey with an intense focus. "Let's see about bringing that bridge...down," she spoke, crafting a large eyeball out of the battlechip data that she had. She took in the information that she had available, utilizing the information that she had from where she was. She aimed the modified LilBomb in a straight arc. Hopefully, she'd manage to hit the Spikey with it, but in the event that she didn't, she aimed it in such a way that it would still land just before him instead, hoping to bring down the entire bridge with a singular attack.

A laugh came from her lips as she launched the EyeBomb, and as soon as it was released, she immediately liquidated herself, not wanting to stand still for too long. The eye beneath her widened, and another formed a short distance to her left. This put her closer to the OldStove, but she wanted to see about decimating that one next anyway as she shifted, her body turning to liquid shadow as the darkness from the pupil rose up and covered her before she shot to the left, into the pupil of the second eye, readying herself for another round!

With new foes in her eyes, vigil took measure of the scene while sending her first extra eye out ahead. The Champu chattered distractedly into its phone as it practiced, and immediately jumped to the wrong conclusion as it saw the floating eyeball, warping forward to attack it before realising that this was not, in fact, a proper enemy. It connected on punch on the object, before returning to where it began and looking about for the real target.

At the far end, the Miner ducked beneath the panels while closer to home, Vigil initiated a game of catch with the Spikey, utilising a notably more explosive eye. the bomb detonated and sent the pup reeling, before it recovered with an angry series of flame-laden barks and darted closer, launching a pin-point fireball in her direction. Vigil wasn't there, when the shot passed through, moving jsut far enough to the left to avoid it, but as the Spikey moved off the panel it began on, part of the bridge beneath its feet crumbled. It scrabbled at the edge, before slipping with a yelp.

Strangely enough, Vigil continued to hear its frustrated barks from the hole; it looked as though the bridge, though cracked and crumbling, maintained a solid base, even when the uppermost panels gave in. Meanwhile, as vigil completed her quick shift closer to the OldStove, it rumbled deep in its chamber and opened its grill to meet her with a line of scorching flames. Unable to dodge this one, Vigil took a mild scorching, though it wasn't too bad. more worrisome, perhaps, was the manner in which the flames seemed to damage the ground beneath her.

Spikey viruses are a little faster than the average virus, allowing them to cover more ground than normal with movements and dodges. They may attack while moving, but as normal, they cannot attack while dodging without expending a second action to do so. Spikey viruses are also able to use something called 'pack tactics' when 3 or more of them are present. Simply put, the Spikey viruses attack and dodge as a wolf pack. In addition, they are treated as having a reduced power Haste and Accuracy Enhancement effect which grants them a +5% bonus to evasion and accuracy while this effect is active. The effect is passive, and only expires when their numbers drop below 3.
