New movie rating?

Maybe a good idea.
i agree, i mean, if you don't know what your seeing in terms of sex, violance and F-bombs every few seconds, you may have to sue to get a new rateing, i mean, videogames gained an E10+ rateing, so why not give movies the same thing?
Being 20 years old, I don't give a fuck.
Shur took the words out of my mouth, almost verbatim.
lol. You care so much

But, here's what'll happen. the Hard R will start becoming for only obscenely violent stuff, and it'll have more and more sex, and it'll turn into what NC-17 is now, and no stores will supply them. And then soft R will become what the current R rating is.

I think it's that they don't have the balls to put NC-17 on something like Hostel, so they rated it R, and they want a new rating which will just end up becoming another NC-17.
Perhaps this would make more sense if they actually asked for ID when someone in or around the age of 17 or whatever's required to get in.

I could go to my local movie theatre, buy a ticket for whatever R-rated flick you'd like, and get in. I've never tried it, but I have serious doubts that they would stop me.

Two shoulders that the responsibility should fall on: those of the parents and those of the theatres. Face it, theatres won't stop you if they're in doubt, because they want your money. Parents need to ask what their kids are going to see, and make sure that they're seeing what they say they are.

And it's you damn kids, too, always trying to go watch your damn porn...! [waves cane]
lol my mom would let me go see whatever I want. She bought me snakes on a plane, Borat, and A Nightmare on Elm Street, and she let me buy the Halloween movies. She just wants to make sure i don't let the baby siblings have em.
same here, i can't BUY M rated games myself, but if i ask, they will probably say yes and get it FOR me, as long as i don't play them around my siblings, same with R rated movies but if the hard-R rateing goes through......then i can't watch hard-R rated movies unless my parents OK it, soft-R rated movies........i'm pretty shure my parents would let me watch as long as it isn't around my siblings once again.
My mom doesn't care one bit about video games. I want a game, she doesn't even care what its rated.
My cousin's mom bought him Playboy: The Mansion for the PS2. She knew what it was, and she still bought it. I'm only allowed T-rated, and maybe M-rated if it contains no sex scenes. Like the Hot Coffee scene.

I'm almost 23 years old. I can buy whatever the hell I want. Only issue is that I cannot watch those sorts of movies or play those sorts of games when my younger cousins are around
I'm 15, so, unfortunately, I'm still bound by the ratings.

My grandma, however, knows that I'm smart enough to separate reality from fiction, so she usually gets me whatever even if it is M-Rated.

Also Gamefly.

...am I the only one here whose parents subject me to game/movie ratings?

They never let me get Smash Bros. Never. I was thirteen and they still said no. "Too much violence and beating up on other people".
I pity you.

When my mom bought me Diablo she's like i have to make sure theres no nudity....now she's letting me watch all these movies with nudity in em (halloween, jason x, snakes on a plane)

...i dont think she knows tho.

edit: i'm 16, for the record.
