Rook's new Ally

((For the future, please always specify which targets you're attacking in your summary unless there is only one target. I'm having to guess here.))

The damaged gunnertool decided that it was its turn to hide under a shield. Meanwhile, the one that had previously been hiding popped out of its shield, just in time to take a one-two attack from Musou.

Rook followed up the stunning combo with his own electrified attack, launching a zapring at it. The damaged gunnertool hangs limp in its hole in the metal pathway, shooting wildly and completely missing both navis. Nonetheless, it still somehow manages to remain intact.

The remaining gunnertool takes its shots at both navis as well, lightly damaging each of them.

The martial arts navi bristles his clawed hands for a moment before taking a stance and swiping at the Gunnertool that he and Rook literally lit up the last round, hoping it's double-stunned condition makes for an easy target. Not wanting to loose his momentum, Musou quickly looks over his remaining opponents.. The one he might have been able to finish quickly is shielding it'self and the other one doesn't look scratched.

Ken pipes up "Musou, when they lower to use their shield it covers them completely. I doubt they can see you then! Use it for cover and build up another attack!"

The navi grins, he was thinking along the lines of using the Gunner's for cover but ambushing the shielded one sounds even better. Quickly he sprints down the metal panels and leaps behind the gunner with it's domed shield. As Ken slides in a chip and data fills his mind, one of his clawed hands returns to normal and his fingers spread as golden energy forms in his hand, becoming a ring of electricity as he pauses and simply waits for the virus to open up. Metal panel, shock time.

Rook barely manages to dodges the Gunnertools wild attacks after throwing his Zap ring. Sparks continue to leap from Rooks body from the damage he recieved from precious fights. "These guys are definitly hard nuts to crack." Rook comments as he sees Musou launch his followup attack. Figuring the Musou shouldnt have problems finishing off Gunnertool A Rook turns his attention towards the none shielded Gunnertool B. Taking a deep breath Rook Launches himself towards it. Running hard with his head down Rook makes few attempts to dodge. His main focus is to keep the gunnertool distracted so that it doesnt shield itself. "Give me a Double Charlie JAck!" Rook says as he completely run past the gunner tool.

Jack quick slots in two Cannon chip easily deducing what Rooks plan is.

As Rook recieves the data both his missile pods quickly change. The Pods quick morphs into a long cilynder barrel. As the barrel completely forms the tone changes from a sharp grey to a more dull grey. and with a pop sound a fuse appears at the rounded backside of the now old school cannon. Having completed the data transfer Rook stops and pivets back towards Gunnertool b. Quickly checking to see its status before launching his attacks.

Musou finished off the heavily damaged gunnertool without much difficulty, absorbing a small amount of data to patch himself up in the process. The other damaged gunnertool popped out of its shield as Musou tried to get around it, firing a wide spread of machinegun rounds that hit nothing...all but two shots as it finished swiveling that hit Musou right before the gun turret was locked up by a ZapRing. Electrical pulses then continued into the hole the gunnertool was mounted in, then fed back into the turret, causing it to explode after a few seconds.

Rook, meanwhile, dashed past the remaining turret, drawing fire as predicted. When he turned around and fired a cannon at it, however, the force of the blast ripped the turret from its base, sending it and its metool pilot flying off of the metal path. Rook's second shot hit nothing but air, but the damage was done. The turret had been rendered completely useless.

The metool however, not one to take defeat lying down, ripped off the remaining working parts of its gun turret and scurried inside the abandoned warehouse.

VICTORY?

Musou breathes slow and deep as he tries to calm himself. "You alright, Musou?", Ken asks. The navi shakes his head and says with an annoyed tone "It's nothing. We have to get that data." He notices the remains from the turrent and shuffles through them for a moment.. "Found some cash and chip data, Ken.. Funny, that stuff is usually just laying around", the navi comments. He could have rushed after the metool but no point being hasty, considering he and Rook are injured.

Ken pops in the blank chip and copys over the data as he considers the situation.. "Those cannons were a nasty surprise but whatever lies inside knows your coming now", he says. Musuo nods and stretches his shoulders a bit as he looks around at all the corrupted data and torn landscape. "You ready, big guy?", the navi asks as he hops up and down lightly on the balls of his feet, a little impatient.

Ken slides out the chip and looks down at it.. "Guard, huh? Something you'll never do, right Musuo?" he says with a chuckle. The navi smirks and glances over his shoulder, into the small viewscreen that appeared as Ken began talking. "You know me Sensei, only when they least expect it", he counters.

"Right, right.. Just stay sharp", Ken says and his navi nods.
Rook takes a few breaths as he scans the area making sure the area is clear. "Those Gunnertools were impressive and the speed in which that metool dismantled that cannon was interesting. I dont think it was just some regular Virus. Something is definitly going on here." Rook says as he rummages though the debri collecting his zenny and chip.

"All the more reason to stay sharp once you get in the warehouse." Jack says as he finishes the install of the cannon chip on a blank chip.

"The enemies of the maker maybe strong but we will prevail" Rook says as he over hears Musou's conversation with Ken. " If you dont think youll ever use that Guard chip Musou maybe we could make a trade once we make it out of here" Rook says as he walks upto Musou. He then glance over to the warehouse. Well what we need is in there so why dont we see if anyone is home" Rook says as he begins to head for the door

Musou nods and glances around at the data corruption hanging in the air and around the building like some sort of rising vines or cancer.. He ponders for a moment some of the plants and animals of the real world, which Ken made him study to try and make him more 'well rounded'. The net and cyberscape was his home but it made him wonder, staring at the data falling into pieces and bugs, if it was all a lie. Did he really have emotions? Was he really a full AI with sentience, or was he just following some preset algorithims well enough to convince everyone he was 'real'?

Ken watches his navi and studies the look on his face, the hesitation in his movement and the way his eyes linger on the corruption in the scape. He wonders what it going through Musou's head but one of the things he learned from his father is that inspiration and epiphany could come from anything. Was he devising a new attack or plan? Was he sickened by the way his world was falling appart here, wishing he could save it?

As the moments linger on and Ken is about to say something, Musou gives a subtle shake of his head and turns on heel to head into the warehouse. The data was at stake and he couldn't afford to be distracted.

((Requesting continuation))
The two navis made their way inside, finding themselves in a ruined lobby. Two doorways led off into larger storage areas, both left wide open, with a third directly ahead that appeared to have been barricaded shut using whatever materials were at hand. Bugfrags still trailed along the ground where bits of walls and machinery had been dragged across the ground to be added to the barricade, suggesting that it had been constructed very recently. The lobby itself, meanwhile, was in just as much disrepair as the outside of the warehouse. Just like on the outside, several panels of the walls and ceiling had been ripped off, exposing hydraulic arms underneath, and in the center of the floor several of them had given way and collapsed, leaving a large hole.

Several viruses, meanwhile, appeared to be minding their own business as the navis walked in. A couple of PulseBats flew overhead, carrying what appeared to be broken radio equipment on their backs. A Spooky was poking about the roughly constructed barricade, while another was floating around a pillar next to the hole. That was, until one of the bats noticed Musou and Rook, and called all of them to battle positions.

Two more viruses poured in from the unblocked doors, bringing the total count up to six. Simple enough, right?

Musou gave a quick appraising look about.. He was familiar with most of these viruses but the Spooky was new to him. Some sort of ghost with a giant red plus on it's head.. First Metools now these. What was with that plus look? Some kind of construction or deconstruction virus, he figured by the looks of the place..

Ken said quickly from his end "Focus Musou. Remember to let Rook handle the Pulsebat up high, I'll do a quick search through the database on that new one. Go!" The navi nodded, in part to himself and part to his Sensei. He quickly moves from the spot hes on, finding new footing. Metal panels and spikey's don't mix.

Next the navi focuses, attuning his senses to the data in the area to let him feel out his opponents energy, though all the bugfrags in the area seem to be overwhelming him a bit. He blinks back the nausia and makes a mental note to be more careful about opening himself up to corrupted and glitching data in the future.

Distracted from the bad data, Musou grumbles to Ken, watching from his 3rd person perspective behind him "Send the new one". Ken raises an eyebrow for a moment. What could be wrong with the hot-headed melee navi to make him want to guard? A sudden attack of common sense? He smirks a bit as he slides in a Guard1 battle chip, letting it load in the background as he resumes his search. Musou braces himself as the new data floods his mind, giving him all he needs to know about his new shield, at least for a moment, as he raises it in preperation.

Rook pauses as he and Musou enter the lobby. He scans the area as his strategic mind races, taking a count of all the enemies. Small sparks leap from his damaged body and cascade down to the ground. "Well this could be bad" Rook comments as he takes note of the radioes on the bats and the barracade. These two things seem to intrigue Rook. Almost to the point of worrying what potentially dangerous thing could amerge from them.

"Probably going to be a messy one, so send me defensive strategy Gamma". Rook then begins to slowly move towards the Miner taking note of the broken panels as well as trying to stay off any metal panels. While he is walking his left armguard grows. It quickly takes shapes forming into a large riot shield, which Rook lifts up in front of him.

Shield in position a small flash eminates from Rook's body as he activate his on board defenses. As the flash settles the gems about his body remain lit, glowing with an entense green glow, as if waiting for something to happen.

The Navis got all nice and defensive, which unnerved the bats a bit, causing them to fly high into the sky for a bit. The Spikey, too, prepared itself for evasive maneuvers, only for nothing to happen. The Spooky, however, gleefully used the chance to warp up and smack the closest Navi with their tongues, only for the Guards to smack back. The Miner then spat some mines into its arms, and went underground to place them throughout the battlefield...

Musou looked to the barricade on the other side of the room and considered for a moment. They didn't have to cut a path through everything, they could try to just drop the wall and make a break for it.. He shook his head as he set for battle again. No, that wouldn't work, it was a warehouse and they would just be chased and hit in a pincer in the next fight.
Besides, it's not like Mr 'purify with fire' would let anything get away from him willingly.
The navi grinned as he set into action. He could feel the data swirling around him and the darker, polluted energy coming from the virii and the glitched areas, especially the Pulsebats. Something wasn't quite right about them and he was hoping he wouldn't find out what anytime soon..
With the Miner underfoot that left many virii to worry about and if there was one thing he had a chip for it was collateral damage.. "Sensei, the wand", thn navi said as his operator slid in the Meteor9. Saying he was way ahead of him would be exagerating, it wasn't like they had many chips. As data flooded the martial artist's mind he slammed his palms together and parted them as a data collected and in a flash of light he was holding a three-foot long wooden pole with a large ruby atop it.

While the data was initializing, he swung it about his body a few times as if in a kata, trying to watch for and avoid his opponent's advances. Finally complete, he finished the form by bringing it down with a 'clack' against the floor beneith him and released the staff. Upon release the gem lit up and it began to float on it's own, hovering and ready to release it's potent energy about the battlefield.

That being done, Ken quickly slid in a MachineGun1 chip, and though it wasn't exactly the navi's forte it was constant action that was required here to defeat this many foes. As the data filled his mind, the navi's hands began to crackle with golden energy as he raised them, palms facing the Spikey (though if he could hit any of them that would be awesome) and let loose a volley of energy shots.

Summoning a Meteor chip to his aid, Musou got to work, with the fiery chunks of rock hitting one of the bats in flight. Shortly after, he released a barrage of energy blasts, courtesy of a MachineGun battlechip. In a sheer feat of luck, the normally inaccurate energy blasts made mincemeat out of the viruses near him. Nothing stood a chance. Meanwhile, the viruses on the right side made themselves at home, harassing Rook with a few attacks. The confines of the building made it a little hard for them to aim, however, and the bat's Pulsar attack missed. The Spooky did do something, though, slapping the fiery purifier Navi with its tongue. The Miner just silently laid some traps around, minding its own business.

The martial artist looked over the scene after the dust settled and saw the viruses were clear on his side. He had enough basic practice at netbattling to know he had gotten lucky but he wouldn't question it when the fight was still raging on and Rook seemed to be getting beaten into a forner. He remembered the navi and his operator going on about a slow connection earlier and perhaps it was effecting his ability to battle. The fighter steeled himself as he took a fighting stance. He breathed deep and focused, telling himself Calm, calm yourslef and feel the data around you, you energy of you and your partner, the energy from the viruses, try and filter out the data corruption..

Ken looked over the battlefield from his vantage point, in third person perspective behind Musou.. The miner was making the battlefield dangerous and combined with the cracked and broken panels, this battlefield was becoming pocketed with danger. He slipped in a couple battlechips, hoping the navi's fighting instincts would guide him.

Musou felt chip data enter his mind, his DashAttack to be specific. He cringed as he remembered it being less than useful in the last fight but it had served him well in the past and it just might let him reach the Pulsebat flying high, worth a try at least. He lept in the air and took aim as best he could, as data swirled around him and formed into a pair of green wings from his back. They gave a powerfull flap, propelling him towards his foe. He tried to make little adjustments in his fight path, as the idea of missing here wasn't a pleasent one and he might only have one shot at this virus since high altitude fighting wasn't exactly his forte. Getting down.. Well, that would take care of it's self for better or worse.

As it dissolved he absorbed data from it, healing him for a small amount. A good thing he did, too, as his dash took him all the way to the ceiling, where he collided with it. The remaining Spooky teleported to him, but missed as he fell back and slammed into the ground, putting him right back where he started health-wise.

The miner, meanwhile, laid yet another trap, gradually making the battlefield even more treacherous.

"Musou!" Ken called out as he watched his navi crash into the ceiling then back into the floor. The navi grumbled and raised to his feet slowly, giving a thumbs-up to his operator. Part of him felt stupid for doing what he did but at least it worked. He looked over the battlefield again "And then there were two", he mumbled as he started to take a step. "Musou hold it", Ken said and the navi retracted his foot, staying where he was "That Miner has been laying mines the entire fight and it's covering enough of the battlefield now that your going to have to be very careful where you step", he continued.

Musou nodded and wracked his brain. He was a melee fighter and it was becoming dangerous to move. He had used up several of his battlechips but it hit him that the Spooky always teleported to him to strike and the Miner so far was content to just lay mines. If he could just... "Ken, send me a cannon", the navi called out as he readied himself for the Spooky to descend again. As the chip data entered his mind, energy surged into his body and he held out his right hand. Energy begain to gather in it, forming a golden ball with an occasional loose tendril of energy crackeling across it. He would wait for the Spooky to take it's self out.

Musou waited, watching closely for the right time to strike the ghost, when suddenly a volley of meteors rained across the area and beat him to it. Time delayed Meteors, he mused. He would have to remember that little quirk in Meteor9. Not wanting to waste his shot, he drew a bead at the Miner, lining up his shot. Ranged attacks wern't his thing and he knew it, might as well make the shot count. Hoping for the best, he sent the shot at the virus.

Ken bit his lip, thinking how lucky Musou was to seemingly walk through this ambush. The odds were stacked against him now that Rook wasn't responding. There was no telling what waited ahead but since that fleeing gunner was nowhere to be seen, it would likely be another ambush.
