A small transit pad in the one of the sectors of the brightly-decorated area of Kotobuki Net lit up, as a spiral of bandages started to form. The tornado of wrappings eventually settled on a humanoid silhouette, which filled up with purple smoke, before being replaced with Scourge's lethargic-looking frame. She stretched out slightly, and stepped off of the pad. "Alright, let's hope she doesn't take too long..." she muttered.

Wrapping Up Practice

Luckily for Scourge, Martia was right behind her, entering in a more generic pink beam of light that materialized into a human-like form. She walked forward, surveying her surroundings. One thing stood out, however. "Yeesh, I think someone forgot to turn down the thermostat."
"That's your problem, not ours. Now move!"
"Thanks for being so understanding, Leslie. You're a pal." She took a few steps forward, then motioned to the other Navi. "C'mon! We won't find stuff just sitting around like our operators!" Huh, she was really starting to get into this. Then again, anything that let her maintain even a shred of dignity after that last mission sounded really, really good right now.

"Heh, alright," said Scourge, as she advanced forward. She wasn't in any real hurry, but she would find herself subconsciously trying to overtake Martia, as she turned up a visual link to Sofia. The operator, oddly enough, was turning her head around to attempt to look at more than what the screen allowed her, despite screens not working like a transdimensional portal like she thought they did. Scourge awkwardly gawked for a moment. "Hey, nitwit, stop craning your neck around like a seagull and don't forget to send me those chips, okay? Then watch me clean up the house."
"Okay, you got it!" said Sofia, as the screen disappeared. Though the audio link remained, and Scourge could hear the operator rummage around in her pack. Fantastic.

Stepping out and stepping up, Martia and Scourge both had to make the most of less than completely competent operators as they started to explore the Kotobuki net. Martia wasn't wrong in her estimation; the temperature was very warm, heavily humid and rankly, quite sticky-feeling. Worse, there wasn't even any breeze to lighten it up. Underfoot it was mostly grassy, with a few narrow paths running in different directions. they curved and meandered, but regardless of where the two decided to walk, they'd never be more than a small step or two away from one of the more solid, hard-packed trails.
Before they cold get to the actual fighting, however, the first thing the pair noticed would be the veritable cacophony of small squeaks that built up as... something... rushed towards them from the right. The something, as it rumbled towards them through the warm air, turned out to be a veritable horde of small ratty viruses, racing quickly and squeaking in a panic. The mass of them, clustered together, paused as they came upon the duo, then broke to either side, splitting into two groups that began to rush around them. It was about as they were passing, though, that several looked back, and others looked more closely at the two navigators now in their midst. The way the swarm had come from, a pair of viruses that looked a little like fishy were giving chase at high speed. They didn't seem to be behaving like fishy, however. Each would race towards the rats, then spin wildly as it reached the end of its momentum, erupting in gouts of fire as it did so.
Most unfortunately for Scourge and Martia, several of the ratties, in a panic, had begun to turn their weapons on the navigators, and equally, the two blazers seemed to think that the pair looked like much more fun, once they caught sight of them.

"Is it really that hot? I'm not sure I get the temperature problem," said Scourge, as she looked around the area. Though she did see that the air about them was slightly warped due to heat mirage, Scourge herself didn't feel anything. In any case, Kotobuki was a weird mishmash of grassy patches here and there, with a very odd orange-ish tint to everything in its color scheme. It appeared to be attempting to form some sort of uplifting mood, but all it did was form a very unsettling atmosphere.
It didn't take long for Scourge to perk up her ears as a tiny noise emanated through the area that they were walking through. "... What's all that squeaking?" she said, mostly directing her question towards Martia.
"Squeaking? I don't hear anything," said Sofia.
"Wasn't talking to you, idiot." Scourge halted in place, readying her stance warily. Unconsciously, some of her bandages began to widen and rebind themselves around her body, tightening their wraps and protecting her from a small bit of harm. At that point, the Ratty viruses began to storm them from the right, and flanked them from both sides. Scourge was about to pipe up as to what they were doing, but the source of their troubles immediately became evident as the Blazer viruses appeared from where they came from.
"Oh, all right, let's get this going!" said Scourge. "Sofia, get me that electric one you used a lot and the new fire one!"
"Um, uh, okay! Hold on, hold on!" said Sofia in a bit of a panic, grabbing the requested chips and carefully inserting them.
The chips felt like they took forever for Scourge, but as soon as the first came in, her systems went towards making them useful. A section of Scourge's wrappings detached itself and floated in front of her, whipping wildly about like a lizard's tail. Sparks flew about the detached cloth as it darted towards the Blazer viruses, seemingly with a mind of its own.
Her attention then turned towards the Ratty viruses, right as Sofia jammed the BurnSquare chip into the PET. Scourge herself didn't experience much of any change, but she certainly felt the battlechip data in her queue. As she activated it, a few cloth bandages started to sprout from the ground beneath the rodent viruses in a square formation, though these were distinctly different from Scourge's own, in that they were colored a gleaming yellow color. Not long after they appeared, the bandages detonated in a plume of fire, potentially roasting anything that had the misfortune of still being near them.
Scourge clenched her hand, and turned towards her partner. "How's that, Martia?!"

"You must not be as sensitive to heat as me, Scourge. I feel like if I don't think cold thoughts, I'll get set on fire or something!" To emphasize, Martia started to fan herself with her hand.
"Well, if you're that hot, take off some of your clothes. That'd probably help."
"Nooooooooooooo thank you!" That was the one thing she absolutely WAS NOT DOING. "Guess I'll have to grin and bear it...huh?" The martial artist suddenly stopped, looking around for a moment before settling to her right. "Yeah, I hear it. Thost squeaking noises? I feel like I've heard them before..." She couldn't place it...but as soon as she saw the virus horde coming their way, it all clicked. "Ratty! Of course!"
"Uh, that's great and all, but my question is, what're those things chasing it? They look a lot like Fishy, but not quite."
"Good question..." They were speedy like Fishy, but the spinning and fire didn't strike her as very Fishy-like. "It's clear they're the reason the Ratty are so terrified. Actually, I bet if we take out the fire Fishy things, they'll-" Her idea was promptly interrupted by an electrical pulse shooting out from one of Scourge's wrappings. "Hold up! After we beat the Fishy-like things, we should be able to-" But she wasn't quite quick enough, as bandages had risen from the ground and begun a Ratty barbecue. "...Never mind..."
"Wait, what WERE you going to say?"
"It doesn't matter now. Just send something over."
Hmm, Martia sounded kinda down. Leslie wasn't really sure why, though. "The others did a good enough job with the shock tactic that we can just mop up. But first..." First, a nautilus in a bubble! "Just a little insurance...BattleChip, BubbleWrap! Slot in!"
A bubble quickly formed around the pink Navi, though she still didn't seem overly happy. On the plus side, even if it got burst, it'd reform after a bit. That was good for something. ...Just not the something she hoped for at first. "Let's see...Scourge went over that part of the Ratty herd, so let's focus on the others, okay?"
"Sure!" How to do that...ah, that should do. "If they can take 'em out in one shot, so can we! BattleChip, GolemHit! Slot in!"
A gray aura surrounded Martia's right hand, which she quickly made into a fist. She raised it above her head...then performed a downward punch that ended with her knuckles brushing the ground. As soon as she'd finished, something seemed to appear up in the sky. And it grew larger, and larger...it soon appeared to be a large stone fist, formed high above the battlefield, and dropped down to the ground. It seemed to be heading for the previously safe Ratty, but it was hard to tell right off if it'd actually hit them all. Helping the cause was that, once it landed, small shock waves would go off on either side, and aid in mopping them up.
Hmm. What else could work? ...Actually, hmm. There WAS that chip event not long ago...and they got...right. "All right Martia, you don't have to move a muscle for this one! This oughta finish off any stragglers! BattleChip, ElecDragon! Slot in!"
Far to the right of the battlefield, a small pot formed. For a moment it seemed to be entirely pointless, but it quickly became relevant to the task at hand as a ThunderDragon peeked out from inside. It could tell...those Blazers, they needed to be destroyed. NOW. It wasn't entirely sure why it could tell, but there was no time for that. It had to be done, and fast. It wasted no time in tipping its pot over, and rushing forward. As it did so, it magnetized the ground below it, leaving behind a trail of magnet panels as it tried to ram into the Fishy that refused to do the same. After that, if there were any Ratty left, it'd do what it could to finish them off, dispatching them with one good tackle. But it didn't have forever...as quickly as the pot had appeared, the ThunderDragon vanished, leaving behind the destruction of the local landscape, if not the destruction of more...mobile things.
By now, Martia had perked up a bit, and was looking around. If there were any rat bombs or spinning Fishy-like viruses coming her way, she'd be ready to get out of the way before they quite literally burst her bubble. She didn't respond to the other Navi's boastful question, though...she wasn't quite ready to deal with her own idea not making it out in time.

Without waiting to discuss tactics, Scourge and Martia started out with slightly different ideas on how to handle the sudden infestation of ratties. Regardless, the first step for both was to prep defences, and the Blazers weren't waiting for them to do any more. The first rushed in, veering slightly to slide in between Scourge and the rats in front of her, before spinning wildly and sending a broad swathe of flame across the area. It wasn't a particularly accurate swathe of flame, and the strange fish-like virus didn't seem too in control, but even so, some of the fire licked at Scourge's defences despite her best efforts to avoid them. the crackle of flame caught to the grass beneath her, and her outer bandage barrier received a severe toasting. The flames swung wide enough to endanger Martia too, though at that range they had mostly dissipated and missed her. Opposite, the three ratties squeaked and cowered down from the fire, and it passed over all of them without scorching a single rodent.
Moving in tandem, the other Blazer had performed the same move, only it had swung to the other side, positioning itself between Martia and her own rats. This one's fire spin was no better at hitting things than the first, missing both Martia and Scourge, though amidst the panicked squeaking and scuttling of the rats, one of them did receive a nasty burn, made worse by the sudden conflagration of the grass under it.
Scourge was the first to take to the offence after this, sending a bolt of energy at the blazer that had now placed itself right in front of her. The beam connected, thoroughly zapping the hostile element and detroying it utterly. The beam then arced straight back towards Scourge and Martia as it made its way for the second Blazzer, on the other side, but veered away and grounded itself harmlessly in the soil before it could pierce either of the navis. It was a near thing though.
Unsure what to do about this life-threatening situation, but with one of their tormenting blazers down, two of the ratties, one from either side, launched missiles at the remaining fishy-like vius. It was of relatively little help, however, since both missiles zig-zagged away erratically and didn't hit anything. they were still out there, though, and began arcing back for another go.
Scourge, however, wasn't done with the viruses; all of the viruses. Her next attack created a potent column of fey fire that rose up from the ground beneath the ratty cluster in front of her. There was much squeaking and burning, and only one of the three managed to avoid getting toasted. It responded by launching a missile of its own at Scourge instead, and proved to have a better aim than the first two. This missile connected, collapsing the remainder of her outer bandages.
Across the way, Martia was in for both a penny and a pound, since scourge was taking no prisoners, and opted to be the one doing the pounding. Her overkill punch squished one rat very flat indeed, cracking the panel beneath it with the force, though the second one had more luck staying alive. this meant that when she released her electrical dragon next, it had a couple of 'friends' to make. It darted first for the remaining blazer, leaving a trail of magnet behind it, but in its enthusiasm managed to miss the virus and dived past it instead. It turned, spied the two remaining ratties and went for each of them in turn. The first also avoided a lethal tackle, but the final ratty, despite trying to dash away from the eager dragon, was very swiftly obliterated in a storm of electricity. the dragon was still about, but since it had now tried to make friends all the remaining viruses, it simply cruised in a circle around Martia and scourge a few more times, excited but undirected, until it had made substantially more magnet panels.
Once it grew bored of this, the dragon was gone. This left Martia and Scourge standing in a broad circle of magnetic panels, though the ground directly beneath them was unaffected. It also left a single Blazer, on the single panel of normal ground where the dragon had missed it, and one lone, terrified ratty that was now running in tiny circles, squeaking loudly. Oh, and there were a couple of ratton missiles out in the field, a short way behind the Blazer, coming back towards it.

Erasing the Ratty from existence was one thing. But what really made Martia's heart sink was that, even after that, they were still ignoring the Navis and going after the Blazer. When all was said and done, there was only one left...and it still didn't seem to register them as a threat, even though they deleted the rest of its group. That did it. No matter what, she wanted to spare it. "Hey, listen Scourge. I need you to do a few things for me. First, I need you to not worry about the Ratty. I'll take care of it, so don't attack it yourself. Second, if you could take out the fire Fishy, that'd be great. And, uh, do you have any Wood chips? As I recall, they can demagnetize panels by negating all the magnetic energy. If you could use one to clear a path, please. It's important." Hopefully the other Navi would be a trooper...she knew that was sorta asking a lot.
-------------------
"...Can you? Didn't think so." Martia crossed her arms across her chest as she dryly responded to her non-athletic approach to ignoring magnet panels. She...might be able to get over that, but she didn't want to chance it. Fortunately, Scourge was a trooper, and made a nice path that could let her get out. "Thanks!" Not wanting to stick around, she made her way outside of the self-inflicted magnetic prison through the newly constructed exit, jumping over a panel or two if it wasn't a clean path. From there...
Pop!
A quick punch upward caused the bubble surrounding the martial artist to burst. She didn't need it for what came next...if anything, it would be a potential problem. Now she just needed to walk over to the terrified mouse virus over there..."Hey...it's okay...we're going to take care of the awful fire Fishy!" As she neared the Ratty, she slowed down, not wanting to panic it even more. "It's okay, you're safe now. I promise we won't hurt you. You guys didn't even bother us, did you? You were just running away from those mean things...I'm so sorry, we kinda panicked, too...but we've come to our senses. So you can calm down, okay? ...You're not a bad virus, are you? If you're not, I got a great idea. I don't think you'll have great survival odds if you go off by yourself, so why not let me send you to the virus zoo? You can hang out with other nice viruses, that won't and can't try to kill you. You'll be safe, and you can live in peace and comfort!"
Speaking of comfort, that Mole virus she ran into before settled down pretty quick after she gave it a hug. Maybe she could do the same here? She tried to reach over and grab the virus, and gave it a squeeze. Naturally, this meant pressing it against her chest, and all the calming softness it provided.

"... What?" said Scourge. Martia seemed to have ignored her completely, apparently, and surrounded them with an electrical-looking terrain from an overexcited dragon. From how many sparks they were giving off, she didn't particularly want to stand on them. It didn't really matter, though, she'd probably be able to dispatch them as soon as Sofia sent her a few more chips. She clenched her fist, before being interrupted by... Martia? It seemed like she wanted to order her around or something. That was a thing? Wow, maybe Martia was a bit more of a weenie than she thought.
"Can't you like, jump over those? What kind of martial artist are you?" sneered Scourge.
"Scourge, what's a Wood chip? I think we have one," chimed in Sofia, combined with the sound of her rummaging through her bookbag for the chips. Apparently she wasn't too organized with those...
Scourge twitched slightly. "It's like one of those chips with the corn thing on it. Can't you read up on it or something, dumbass?"
"Oh! We have that! Hold on," said Sofia, as she pulled it out, and slotted it in. The chip materialized on her arm, in the form of a green-tinted bundle of bandages. They wrapped about themselves on her arm to form a small pair of barrels. Scourge glanced at the firearm for a moment, and sighed in exasperation, in a way that almost said "fine, but only because she did it." The bandaged Navi lazily pointed it towards the floor near Martia's feet, and fired the payload. A small cluster of explosive yellow pellets were launched, which rebounded off of the magnetized panels. The panels' charge gradually dissipated into thin air, converting them back to plain white paneling, and the barrels on her arm disappeared.
"Alright, that's done. Give me both of our blue chips," said Scourge.
"Got 'em!" her operator replied, almost rather too quickly. At least she was learning, somewhat. With the chips slotted in, she also added, "This is pretty fun!"
Scourge chuckled dryly, and loaded the chips into her processes. The first didn't visually materialize, except by a brief glare that Scourge shot towards the Blazer. A tiny, almost imperceptible blue light beam fired towards it, which would weaken its attacks on contact. The next chip was a bit more visual, with a blue knife materializing and falling into Scourge's hand. Unfortunately, she didn't really see any method of approaching the flying Blazer, seeing as it was past the magnetized panels. Despite her earlier jab at Martia, she wasn't about to leap over the paneling either. Instead, she anticipated the Blazer's approach, drew back her hand, and tossed the knife towards the flaming bird.

With the initial panic subsided, and most of the field obliterated, Martia returned to her preferred method of conflict resolution and began trying to back everyone down. Slightly less common was that this involved talking down her busting partner, more than the remaining viruses. After some quick words and some pointed requests, however, scourge cleared a safe path for Martia... and let's be honest, the real purpose of that action seemed more like it was for distracting Scourge than anything else. Either way, though, a path was cleared and Martia set about operation boob-hug.
While she was approaching the panicking Ratty cautiously, Scourge set about debuffing the fire-fish from causing any more harm. It responded by blowing a great gout of fire everywhere, but to no effect; the flames washed over harmlessly without causing even the slightest discomfort for anyone. The Blazer seemed... perplexed by this, and tried again briefly, but to no avail. It coasted around and between Martia and Scourge, part upset and part fascinated by its inability to cause harm. After a few more moments it gave up, and instead looked towards the ratty to see what Martia was up to. the two tailing Ratton missiles veered and skittered away to wither side, having no more luck than their first attempts, but no-one on the scene really seemed to notice them.
Getting close to the Ratty proved a bit of an effort, at the rate it was darting about in circles. fortunately, Martia was eventually able to scoop it up and give it a hug while she tried to talk some calm into it. The rat didn't respond at first, but she'd be able to feel it shaking. Swiftly, the magical properties of Martia's chest seemed to take root, however, and its trembling stopped replaced at last by the small virus subtle trying to snuggle into her cleavage more thoroughly. Seeing this, the Blazer was at first agitated, sending smaller licks of flame out form its body in different direction, however this seemed to remind it that, currently at least it was incapable of hurting anyone whether it wanted to or not. It took the rare opportunity to dart into towards Martia as well and try to get in on the squishy action, if it could.
Scourge wanted none of this weirdness, and tried to put an end to the originally aggressive virus, but the sheer mind-boggling inanity of the situation must have thrown her off, because even with such a very determined and careful aim, she still managed to miss her target (and more thankfully, Martia too). The Blazer was too distracted by trying to capitalise on free cuddles to notice this; once it had gotten a taste of being harmless, and the potential for squish-pillow exposure that this entailed, it didn't seem to want to go back to its flame-grilling ways. Chances were, in fact, that if Martia transferred the ratty to safety, the Blazer would also want to go, too.

As her knife sailed into the great beyond, Scourge gaped at the sight that was in front of her. The scene looked positively ridiculous: a supposedly hardened-looking martial arts Navi, exercising what appeared to be a weird holding technique on the Ratty. But when the rodent virus nestled further into Martia's chest, with the Blazer looking to join in the fun, her face scrunched up into an inscrutable confusion. "Are... Are you hugging that rat? What the hell are you doing?" said Scourge.
"It seems like it doesn't mind much," chimed in Sofia.
"I'm not talking about how comfortable a virus is supposed to be feeling about snuggling up to someone's tits. They're viruses! They're supposed to be deleted!" the Navi said, wildly gesturing her discontent. The junk data from their deleted comrades flowed as a wisp into the screws on her shoulders, which she absorbed with a deep breath. She shook her head as she did so, crossing her arms as she waited for an explanation.

"Aww, you don't have to be scared. It's okay. Shh..." As she cuddled the Ratty, Martia could feel it slowly starting to stop shaking, and began to cuddle back...or at least, as well as a virus without limbs could do so. "See? I knew you'd be a sweetie! All right, you're definitely zoo material, so I'll send you over. I'll come visit when it opens, okay?" The virus dissipated in a beam of light, as it was sent over...and almost immediately, its place was taken over by the flaming Fishy from earlier. "Whoa!...Huh?" It wasn't trying to burn her? It...actually seemed to want to take the Ratty's place. Huh, that one she didn't see coming. "You wanna go too? Okay then. Hey, settle down, you need to be at least a little still to transfer!" And...sent. There. Two more for the zoo. She wondered how many they had at this point...surely, by now it had enough to open.
Her thoughts were soon interrupted by her busting partner, who seemed less than enthusiastic about her methods. "What? That Ratty had no interest in harming us. Why do that to it? I just wish I'd realized that sooner, maybe I could've gotten more sent over. Although I didn't think that fire Fishy was the same way. Looked like its fire generator was malfunctioning, or something...I guess it lost its will to fight?" Anyway, there was still some floating data after Scourge got her share, so Martia lifted an arm and had the rest transferred to Leslie.
"Ya know, I bet this gives new meaning to the term 'virus busting'." And there was some more cash. Woo. "Besides, even though you two didn't delete them, they won't be able to hurt anyone again. I'm pretty that covers any and all Navi job descriptions."
"Yep! And there's nothing wrong with showing a little mercy to those that'll appreciate it!" Based on her upbeat mood at the moment, it was safe to say that Martia hadn't seen the water knife thrown in her direction. "So, shall we move on? There's not much we can do here now."

The explanation mostly went through Scourge's head, as she had an incredulous look on her face the entire time. Afterwards, her palm covered her remaining uncovered eye, and most of her face. "... I can't believe what I'm hearing. Tsk, you can do whatever you like. I'll still delete anything that comes my way. Though you can have half of them for your petting zoo or whatever it is," said Scourge, as she saw the viruses disappear in a beam of light, and turned away to search for more targets. Looking down at her arms, she began to wrap the bandages around them even tighter, as if to direct her chagrin elsewhere.

Martia frowned as Scourge rebutted, then started to seek out a new fight. "Well, there's more to fighting than just defeating your opponent, you know..." ...It was pretty apparent the other Navi wasn't going to listen, though, so she just sighed and followed along, in search of new foes. In a rarity for her, she was really hoping they were the soulless kind that were most associated with viruses. At least then she wouldn't have to worry about protecting anything from her own busting partner.

Philosophical differences aside, the pair moved on together searching for more viruses to... well, to alternately delete or save. The landscape of the Kotobuki net around them continued in its overly warm way, though the small paths tracing their way through the grass trailed away before long, leaving larger expanses of untamed grass field. To their left, however, the grass browned back, became hard earth, and small pockets of surface magma began to show up. Set back from where they were walking slightly, a few thin strips of metal panelling suggested a path, though it seemed to lead directly into a broad puddle of magma.
Far off tot he right, they'd both be able to see something that looked a lot more colourful in the distance; it was hard to see, but it seemed to be a cluster of festively decorated stalls and tents, all waving multi-hued streamers in the sweltering air. Unfortunately for those interested in such things, there wasn't enough time to go and check just yet. It seemed as though passing by the metal strips triggered something in response.
There came the sounds of metal plates shifting, and the muffled thud of hydraulics shifting place, before the gap between the metal strips opened as something hovered upwards, humming quietly. It looked mostly like a needler virus, but it was slightly larger, and some of its weaponry seemed to have been replaced with more heavy duty armaments. Hanging beneath the platform as it rose up and up, was a suspended cannon turret of some kind, also displaying a somewhat dangerous-looking arsenal. It turned about, surveying, then fixed on Martia and Scourge. A soft shimmer passed over the hovering virus and if faded from sight, though if they listened, the quiet humming sound it made could still be heard, though now it had moved; it was coming from somewhere slightly further off, over the lava.
It wasn't the only thing that had apparently triggered, either; Sets of the metal panels flipped over or opened up, revealing a series of fixed defence viruses, weapons primed. there were two CannonGuards and two Gunners, positioned in a symmetrical pattern on either side of the path made by the metal strips, as though guarding the entry way from which the first virus had emerged. the same passage, which seemed to descend under the lava pool, now produced a pair of Drixol as well, which immediately took sight on the two nearby navis.
It was difficult to see any more of the passage from where they were, but it seemed to lead down under the lava pool, with steps, and there was also a faint glow of light... maybe green light?

20% Metal [Two broad strips of metal panels run away from Martia and Scourge, on their left, forming the suggestion of an entry path]
40% Lava [Large pools exist in this area. A particularly broad one dominates much of the area to the navis' left, in a crescent shape that allows the metal 'path' to reach out into it]
15% Grass [Some grassy patches remain on where the navis are, and to their right]
15% Normal [The grass fades to normal hard earth before reaching the lava]
10% Furnace [Some of the metal panels, especially near the entrance to the passage, are quite super-heated.]
At the end of the metal strips, a passageway seems to lead down below the lava pool, with stairs, but it's hard to see any more currently... though there may be a glow of green light coming from it somwhere.

Being slightly estranged from her busting partner wasn't going to deter Scourge from moving onwards through the Kotobuki network. While idly rebinding her wrappings, she thought about what Martia had said earlier. More to fighting than just defeating your opponent? Unthinkable, she thought. There was only one good way of defeating an opponent, and that was complete destruction. How else were they supposed to survive? Being a pacifist wouldn't put data fragments on the table, and she would rather not shrink into deletion. Stealing a few glances at Martia, who also looked slightly distracted, she redoubled her focus on her wrappings, her brow furrowed in anger, though she didn't know who exactly it was directed at.
Suddenly, a loud clanking noise brought Scourge to her senses, as she jolted upright in surprise. Somewhere beneath the surface, some machinery started to whir to life. Scourge observed in wonder as a weird suspended cannon platform emerged from the pathway, and shimmered into inexistence. ""What the heck, where'd that thing go?!"" blurted out operator and Navi in sync. Scourge jumped a little at the unexpected match, but had no further time to react to it, as more of the paneling flipped up, revealing more gun turrets, this time more or less fixed to the ground. Some drill-lookalike viruses came up from the lava pool slightly ahead as well, as Scourge instinctively widened her stance.
Around her body, the bandages started to have a life of their own, as they divided their tasks. Half of them extended down into the grassy bed that Scourge was standing on, snaking through like hyperactive roots. The rest enveloped Scourge's body in hardened linen, protecting her somewhat from a bit of damage. Shortly after, the bandages that had been in the ground shot up from beneath the turrets, aiming to disable their weaponry by gunking up their barrels, or otherwise restraining them. Satisfied, Scourge barked at the audio link that was still open to her operator. "Sofia, give me that Synapse chip again. Make it quick," she ordered.
"Coming right up!" the girl responded, as the sound of a clumsy slot-in came in through the audio link yet again.
Scourge felt the chip's attack activate itself, and a slightly numbing pain went through her temples. Almost immediately, a bolt of lightning escaped from one of her bangs, rocketing off towards the Drixol viruses. Scourge was rather surprised, she hadn't even thought of hitting them, but it looked like it was some kind of auto-targeting attack. Either that, or she was so good she even surprised herself. Nevertheless, she still had to prepare to avoid any incoming retaliatory attacks, and sidestep them, so she did just that. In that time, she glanced over to her busting partner again, which she had half-forgotten was even there in the first place.

Much like her busting partner, a clanking noise immediately absorbed Martia's attention, and she immediately pivoting to see some sort of floating cannon-like apparatus...but, just as quickly as it came out, it vanished. She looked around, but even with top-level martial artist senses, she couldn't pinpoint it. "What in the world...? How does something that big just disappear?" ...Besides the fact this was the Net. She'd need a slightly better answer for that. Before she could ponder it further, however, several other, more typical viruses popped up. Which...just raised further questions, the more she thought about it. "I don't get it. This looks like auto-defense security...but what could be here that's worth guarding to this extent?"
"It's Cyberworld, who even knows." Leslie seemed to be pretty content with just stating the obvious answer. "But if you don't get rid of these guys, we're not going to find out."
"...Yeah. At least it looks like we can both cut loose on this group!" Everything here looked dead set on protecting whatever it was they were supposed to protect. No need to feel bad about wiping the floor with them.
"Which is great and all, but first up, a little protection never hurt! BattleChip, BubbleWrap! Slot in!"
Once again, a large bubble surrounded the martial artist Navi. She had a feeling she should get used to having it around. Especially since even if it popped, it'd reform before long. "Okay, so how are we going to go on the offense?" Before she could get an answer, Scourge was already at work, bandaging half of the viruses and zapping the rest. "...Well, I guess since Scourge was nice enough to leave those ones nice and helpless, we should thank her by turning them to junk data, huh?"
"Sounds good! Anything in particular you want?"
"...Actually, yeah! Send over those FireHits!"
"FireHit? ...Well, if that's what you want!" Bam! Bam! Two chips in, just like that. "BattleChip, FireHit! Double slot in!"
All of Martia's limbs started to give off a flaming aura. She took a deep breath, turned slightly to her left...and what followed would probably not be able to be followed by anyone but her operator, as she delivered a series of strikes nearly too quick for the eye. First, she laid out a simple forward punch. Then, with a spin, a sideways karate chop. After a slight turn to the right, she focused on her legs, with a basic kick, and ending with a strong knee attack. As she delivered each blow to the air in front of her, a fireball resembling the limb used was launched forward, to strike the immobile and impotent viruses before they could recover. After her last one, she placed her left hand on her hip, and nodded approvingly. "Yep, still got it!" Hopefully, her results would back up her assessment...

Scourge started things off by gathering bandages around herself and forming a hard protective casing around her body. Safe within her warm cocoon more bandages struck into the ground and came up around one of the CannonGuard. Unfortunately the virus turned suddenly and shook the bandages off before they could take hold. The rest of the bandages tried to reach out to the other viruses, and they made the effort to streeeetch in all directions, but their prey was too far apart and they could not grab hold. They all drooped in defeat. It was a sad sight to all who were there to see it.
Meanwhile, Martia equipped a bubble. Yes, a bubble. It formed around her in a semi-transparent shell, giving her a protective barrier against the heat. It was like having a mini air-conditioner equipped. It was very nice.
The GunnerB on the right strip didn't like all those defenses and open fired on the pair. It sprayed the area with its twin machine guns, pockmarking the pathway. The wild spray tagged Scourge once, chipping a single bandage away. DrixolA followed that up by dashing forward, drill spinning, but Scourge dodges and it barely misses Martia as she stands there in her bubble. It runs right into a portal as it passes and re-materializes right on top of the navis, heading back the way it came from. It misses Martia again but plows right through Scourge, shattering the remainder of her heavy bandages and nicking her skin with its drill.
In retaliation, Scourge has a headache and unleashes a crackling chain of lightning. Unfortunately, DrixolA, coming back from its teleportation, was a little too evasive and the bolt sailed past. With nothing struck, it fizzled out, leaving Scourge with a bigger headache as nothing was hit. Martia let loose a barrage of fiery punches as the other viruses attacked. The first one slammed into CannonGuardA and melted it to slag. The second hit GunnerA before it could unload its twin machine guns, melting both barrels and causing the little guy inside to cook. DrixolB follows the path that DrixolA took, striking both navis on the initial pass. Martia's bubble pops while Scourge is scratched up. However, after it runs through its own portal and comes back through the navi line, it misses to connect with either navi before joining its brother back at the entrance to the cave.
CannonGuardB took aim at Scourge, now that she was defenseless, and fired. The cannon shot struck her straight center in the chest, following a little red dot perfectly as it was projected from above the barrel of the gun. More flaming punches followed that strike. The third passed by its target, missing it completely. But the forth vaporizes GunnerB. It is only then that the invisible Gungeist acts.
Capitalizing on the attacks inflicted on both Navis, and the mark by one of the CannonGuard, it also takes aim with its own mark on poor Scourge. The cannon shell hits Scourge in the stomach and causes her to be knocked backwards a few feet. The virus then unloads with a trio of vulcans, spraying the navi position with many bullets. Each take two of three shots, chipping away at their lives.

As Scourge was distracted slightly by Martia's fireball movements, the Drixol drove into Scourge's side with its headlong charge. The bandage-bound Navi recoiled in advance, expecting to feel the pain of the drill bit driving into her side, but fortunately, it only managed to nick her through the reinforced bandages that wrapped around her. Sofia was equally as enthralled by the performance, letting out an "Ooh! Awesome!", as Martia's fiery punches melted through nearly all of the turret viruses like a hot knife through butter. She neglected, unfortunately, to see Scourge being re-attacked by the turrets' retaliatory fire.
Weirdly enough, Scourge didn't seem the least bit fazed by the attacks. This fact surprised even Scourge herself, as she was blown back by the force of the energy cannon shot that struck her squarely on the chest. Despite her recoiling, as she looked down at her obviously bruised chest, she blinked, and touched the skin tentatively. As the Gungeist's laser mark appeared on her chest, and looked back up just in time for a cannon shell to strike her in the stomach, along with a trio of rapidfire Vulcan automatics. The barrage of attacks drove her further back from her position, but just as the Gungeist's laser pointer had been locked onto her, her own violet eyes shone as she locked them onto the lava pool. While there was already a bit of a heat mirage above it, she was more focused on the shimmering anomaly that was trying to hide within the mirage.
"There you are."
"Eh?" her operator said. At that point, the video link restored itself, and she finally realized that her Navi (or so she claimed) had been attacked. The number on the screen earlier, which had been reading out a hundred and seventy, scrolled down to read out zeroes on the last two digits. Sofia might not have known much, but she knew that the number going down meant trouble.
"S-Scourge? Are you okay?"
A grin slowly widening on her face, she grabbed one of the screws on her shoulders. The flesh twisted about as she pushed it in slightly, and her eyes widened. "Wow! That didn't even hurt! Crazy!"
Sofia appeared to panic in the dojo, as she watched Scourge appear to mutilate herself, and scrambled through the chips that she had. "U-Um...! Okay! Okay! Hold on! I can fix this!" she exclaimed, as she shoved the blue +20 chip once again into the PET. Surely it would patch her up or something, it had to, right? Maybe even some other stuff to defend herself with. Yeah! She could do this operating thing! She looked next to her as she heard Leslie announcing earlier. What was it? "Um, uh, chip... triple slot in!"
While Scourge was having fun with the screw on her shoulder, a blue light started to infuse within her, and she looked up, mostly at nothing in particular, though she knew the video link had been restored, albeit only one-way. Maybe this operator wasn't so useless after all, somehow, she thought. She then returned her focus onto the pool. Suddenly, a piercing ping sounded, and a nearly imperceptible disruption laser fired out of Scourge's eyes, aimed directly above the pool. As soon as it ended, however, she jumped slightly, shaking her head. At that moment, the remaining chips activated into her arm, unfurling the bandage from her arm into a long bandage whip.
She looked rather surprised at the whip, but quick to adjust, as she focused onto the remaining enemies. Lunging forward, she veered slightly side-to-side as she approached the CannonGuard turret that had unloaded onto her, and swung her whip at it with a crack. With luck, her whip would catch on the cannon and yank it off, where her whip would consume it into her systems. Her focus then shifted towards the Drixol viruses, leaping forward towards them with her whip. The whip started to twirl into a spiral as Scourge wound up her hand, and thrust it forward, releasing it into a large cone. The bandage cone lit up with an electrical lightshow, meant to catch both of the drills in its wake, before it retracted back onto her arm rapidly.

Aside from a couple of machine gun bullets, Martia found herself mostly unharmed from the virus assault. Her attacks also managed to do a pretty good job of picking off the ranged enemies, making her pose mostly justified. Though, there was one she kinda...well, missed. "Well, that wasn't so bad. Wouldn't you sa-oh crap!" She looked over just in time to see Scourge literally put the screws to herself. She appeared pretty banged up, as well. Although, what'd she say? "...Wait, that DIDN'T hurt? Wow...you must have some crazy high pain tolerance." She wouldn't mind having some of that, herself. Though, dulling any sense was suicide for a martial artist, including touch. Maybe there was a way to have it without harming any other sensation? She'd have to look into it.
And speaking of looking into things, Leslie took a peek at Sofia's PET screen, a bit curious as to how much getting shot repeatedly had taken out of the other Navi. 100? That was...actually really unhelpful, not knowing what it normally was at full. Still, it was clear she was worse for wear. "Hey, Martia? I think we should take a moment to, uh, bandage up Scourge."
"So long as you mean that metaphorically, because literally I think she's just fine doing that herself."
"Um, yeah, I have eyes." She also had a BattleChip that aided in such things. Not often it didn't wind up being utilized by Martia directly, though. "BattleChip, Recover80! Slot in!"
A pink aura surrounded the martial artist Navi, but she simply turned to her busting partner, and raised an arm. The aura faded, and a ball of pink light formed in front of her open palm, which floated over to Scourge and enveloped her in healing energy to undo the slight inconvenience of having the better portion of a virus ammo dump unloaded into her. "There. Just because you didn't really feel it, doesn't mean you weren't affected, after all!"
"Right. Now, maybe we oughta think about trying to make it where you guys don't go through that again?"
"Works for me. Looks like Scourge is going after all of them...I think we should help her along!"
"Sure." One chip, coming up. Didn't sound like she had to worry about strength, so... "BattleChip, MeteorKnuckle! Slot in!"
A white aura surrounded Martia's hand, but she looked at it for a moment and smiled. She could feel it resonating with her very soul...maybe if she...yeah, that'd neat, and it would take little effort, to boot. As the bubble surrounded her once more, she stood up straight, and clasped her hands, pointing her index and middle fingers straight up as the rest of them remained tucked in. As she did, the aura began to surround her entire body, and continued to grow...soon, three pure light replicas of her formed in front of her. Each one turned to face a different foe, and flew forward, with a fist fully extended. Whether each hit or miss, they continued to fly ahead a bit further, before dissipating into the ether.
Her operator took a moment to watch the display, before frowning slightly. "Too bad I can't do that. I'd be all for kicking someone's ass without moving." For now, she'd have to experience it vicariously through her Navi.
"Ha, I bet!" ...Hmm? She sensed...something, out over the lava. No surprise there, but...hmm, Scourge had looked that way earlier. Maybe she sensed it, too? It was worth taking a chance to see. "Hey, Leslie? Think you can send me some water chips? I wanna try something."
"Water? ...Sure thing." She must know something she didn't. Let's see...hmm, ice was water when it came to NetBattles, as she recalled. Yep, that'd work. Still, one at a time. That's how they usually did it, at least. "BattleChip, MistConvergence! Slot in!"
As it often did during battles, Martia's right hand gained an aura, this one being a whitish-blue. It was definitely wispier than usual, though...and the reason became clear as she thrust it to perform an open hand punch, as it went forward as a steam projection of her hand. It sailed forward, and if she was lucky and her senses didn't just fail her, it'd give the invisible floating virus quite the slap in the face.
"And another! BattleChip, Avalanche! Slot in!"
As the steam dissipated and rose into the air, the Navi raised an arm, causing it to start to condense. Before long, it had formed into icy snow that hovered over the area. She just had to split it up into three equal parts...like so...and let them drop. With a plop. It'd harden some of the lava, at least. ...Hardening things seemed to be something she was good at lately...no, bad memory! Abort, abort! ...Okay, tucked away in the dark corner of her mind, as it should. Now she could focus on sidestepping the remnants' attack. Sure, the bubble around her gave her some leeway, but it never hurt to be careful. And it did often hurt to be careless.
