A shaft of moonlight lanced the skies, its pale light spreading over the igneous rocks that formed the mountainside of Hades Net. A long, low howl accompanied Wolfman as he materialized in the network. The Navi was in his Garou.GMO, one hand holding his top hat while the other rested lightly on his cane. Wolfman raised his hat, setting it firmly on his head, and glanced around at his surroundings.

Selene was there as well, the moon floating a few feet away from Wolfman.

"Selene," Victor said. "How are the new upgrades working out?"

"Well, I think." Selene answered. "I feel faster, at least."

"Good. I also portioned some of Wolfman's processes to design a few defensive capabilities for yourself. Also, I designed you a graphics override in case you didn't want to be a moon all the time. Why don't you try that out for now?"

"A-alright," the moon spoke as she activated her new GMO.

A pale light radiated out from within Selene. The light began to take shape, growing brighter as it did. The moon was incased in a human form crafted from pure light. The body turned to flesh and a young woman floated in the air where the moon has been moments before. She had milk white skin and raven hair that hung to the small of her back. She was clad in a plain white dress that billowed around her legs.

"Looking good," Wolfman muttered.

"T-thank you," Selene blushed slightly at the compliment.

"So, who are we meeting with?"

"The Navi is called DragonierMan. He may have a SP with him. Once you meet up, you are to locate and investigate a building situated somewhere in your vicinity."

"Understood. We'll wait here then."
Bleak and inhospitable, the fire-scarred network of Hades Net simmered in lava flows and poisonous gases. Thunderclouds gathered together above, dark and menacing, blotting out the crimson sun with their bitter forms. Geysers of acrid steam erupted from the ground here and there, fissuring the craggy, unstable ground with their searing liquidity. The sky flashed a brilliant white overhead, followed by the boom and crack of thunder. Another clash, and the dissonant roar came again.

Thrice was the discord before a bolt of lightning jaggedly lanced down and struck the grim landscape, sending up a shower of sparks. When the burnish light faded, there stood a man of over six feet, clad head-to-toe in shimmering plate armor. Char coated his heavy boots where he stood in the crater, the metal clinking and jingling as he shifted his weight. He swept back his great, ghastly-hued samite cloak with a gauntleted hand. It caught a sulfurous breeze and billowed out behind him like great wings. A snowy tabbard draped over his armored chest and bore the visage of an obsidian tower, framed on white.

A helmet graced the knight's head, covering from neck to crown in silvered steel. Prodigious wings sprouted from the top like great antlers, adding another few inches to the navi's height. The visor fell the length of his face, his neck and mouth covered by the helmet's bottom lip. Only his gray eyes came through the slots carved into the faceplate, gleaming the red sheen of what little light filtered through the clouds. The overall effect of the helmet seemed to be to make the navi look like a dragon.

The navi's head bobbed slightly down and out, like a dog sniffing the air, as he turned to survey the scorched landscape about him. Needless to say, it did not take him long to notice two out-of-place individuals wearing Victorian outfits amid the volcanoes and salt-pits. A low growl issued from the navi's throat and reverberated outward from his helmet, quite audible even amidst the thundering overhead. "What matter of trickery is this?" he asked as he brought his right hand over the molten ground. A wide, glowing sword erupted from the rock into his hand. He gripped it with talonous fingers and tore it from its foundation, causing sparks to fan out from where the blade bit into mineral, grating the edge.

He hoisted the wide blade overhead in preparation to charge the duo standing near the edge of the crater he made. His armor steamed from the heat. "What did you do to WolfMan knave? Answer quickly or I shall destroy you!" the navi bellowed across the black earth in a harsh tongue. DragonierMan must have heard of what WolfMan looked like, but WolfMan didn't look the part, hence the confusion as to WolfMan's identity. Also, DragonierMan appeared to be alone.
"Whoa there," Wolfman raised his free hand, palm toward the advancing Navi. "Stay your blade."

"A-are you alright, sir?" Selene asked. "Wh-who is this man?"

"It's fine," Wolfman answered. "Though I am getting a tad bit annoyed with people attacking me for no reason." He turned to the newcomer. "Look, you must be DragonierMan. I can assure you that I am indeed Wolfman. I don't believe I have met you before, so I'm not sure who you were expecting. Though I must ask if you always randomly attack your companions with no provocation."
DragonierMan lowered his weapon slightly, "No tricks now. If I find out you are not WolfMan, your life is forfeit," he growled. Apparently this navi hadn't got the memo that WolfMan had human-form .GMOs. But at least the danger had passed for the moment as DragonierMan seemed to relax. His shoulders drooped slightly and his aggressive stance shrunk away.

He also didn't seem to be phased by the accusation that he would randomly attack his companions. "How else does one judge strength?" the dragon stated with a smirk, more than asked as a question, while trudging out of the hole he had dug himself in. His sword rested on his right shoulder, the blade flat on the rounded pouldrons. He must have been sweltering in that armor, but he didn't seem to show any concern. It was a little jarring to see this sudden transformation from potentially bloodthirsty killer to a state of unconcerned boredom. One would think it would raise concerns about the stability of WolfMan's ally.

"So... where is this place we are supposed to look into?" he asked seemingly unconcerned as he graced the lip of the crater and looked around the bleak landscape. He seemed like he would probably follow if led.

[Ready to move out.]
DragonierMan and WolfMan began to search for their destination, not quiet sure what type of building they were suppose to find in the first place. Some times passed as they continued to tread across the barren network, till they finally found something that might finally lead them to their objective. Amongst the shadows of the dormant, volcanic mountains from afar, one stood out particularly as the smokes were billowing out from the top.

However, before the two navis could continue and investigate, pesky viruses stood in their way!

-MISSION, START!-
As the trio wandered aimlessly, the lava-strewn landscape beneath their tread quickly turned cool and solid. It was as if they had moved into a dormant part of the Hades Network. There were no steam vents blasting super-heated mist. No boiling lava-flows. The landscape was still bleak, but also quite tranquil... minus the fact that the basalt was as hard as diamonds and sometimes sticking up in jagged spikes. Woe be it the fool that tripped.

Then there were viruses. A hunting party of Spikeys followed closely by Haunted Candles. Embers smoldered amongst the rocks here and there, mostly concentrated behind the enemy group. The Candles had stopped to rest, basking in the heated glow. Fur and wax bristled as the navis approached.

DragonierMan let out a click of the tongue, sounding like a tsk, as he slung his wide blade from his shoulder to crash into the rocky ground. His free hand went to his chest as his eyes closed, placing his palm on the black tower woven into his tabbard. He breathed deep. And his body began turning to stone.

Scales of gray and obsidian sprouted from every joint in his armor and began spreading like a cancer over his form. He looked like he had become one with the terrain about him. Another craggy formation of rock.

But his eyes opened again and he moved... straight toward the enemy line. His hand came off his symbol and wrapped across the air in front of him, protecting his body with his own forearm. The air shimmered about this arm as he advanced. Golden threads, silky and flowering, fanned from the ether and wrapped his limb in their embrace. A moment later they had condensed into a rounded aureate shield. A brilliant emerald cross was its regalia.

He soldiered across the battlefield, turning the blows against him with bulwark and pauldron, guts and gray mail. His steps surprisingly light as he trudged, seeming to barely touch the ground even when bearing the brunt of a strike against his form. He dragged the sword behind him, leaving a furrow in the rock, trailing his steps. He didn't even flinch when his shield splintered and shattered into a million arrows. And his movements eventually lead him to the enemy.

His boots dug into the ground and he raised his sword high above his head, before leaping directly into the enemy ranks. He rolled into the center of their formation before unleashing a deadly spin-attack. His battle-roar echoed off crag and crust as he swung his great blade around and around, scattering the viruses before him. The earth became more scarred and deformed as the blade cut through both rock and bone with equal ease. The strength of his wild swings was enough to cut down all but the toughest of opponents, and those that survived the brutal strokes would be weary of further battle.

As his movements slowed, he brought his mighty weapon across his form. His eyes darted around inside his helmet as he shifted his position amongst them. Ready to turn aside any extra blows to come his way.

"Where?" Wolfman echoed. "Not sure where it is. We only received approximate coordinates. It should be somewhere close by though."

Wolfman was uncertain of his companion at best, but he ignored his misgivings for now. He was determined to keep an eye out for betrayal, but was willing to chock up DragonierMan's actions to being eccentric. He glanced around, noting the porous black stones that littered the landscape. He was at a disadvantage on this type of terrain and he assumed he would suffer the same issues with most of the viruses that roamed this area. He didn't think DragonierMan was laboring under the same conditions. No, he was better without having the armored Navi as an enemy at this juncture.

"Well, let's get started, shall we?" He waved for Selene to follow him as he spoke.

The trio wandered along the mountainside, seeking for any signs of the building they were supposed to investigate. He wished that the GNA representative had been more specific in regards to location and their lack of information forced him to assume that whatever was going on within the building was meant to be a secret. That would more than likely mean fighting.

The Navi caught a scent drifting toward him from his left. He turned, catching sight of a handful of viruses. The creatures were formed up in two rows and looked ready and willing to attack. Worse, as Wolfman had feared, the six viruses were all fire attributes. He would be in trouble if he was caught in their flames.

"We need to hit them hard and fast," Wolfman muttered. "Selene, stay back."

"I'm slotting in the TankCannon, Waterline and that new battlechip," Victor informed his Navi. "Do what you can with that and try not to be flambéed."

"Obviously," Wolfman answered.

Wolfman saw DragonierMan heft his sword and muttered under his breath. The knight was going to rush right in and attack with his sword. Wolfman would have to strike first if he wanted to avoid catching his companion in the blast radius of his attacks. He could feel the battlechip data surging through him and summoned up the TankCannon data as soon as it was available.

The small sphere of darkness materialized within the Navi's free hand. The surface of the sphere was smooth as glass while the inside was a constantly swirling, churning mass of shadow. Wolfman took a few quick steps, charging forward before lobbing the orb over the heads of the Spikeys so it would land amidst the three candle viruses. The surface of the sphere shattered as it struck the ground, the shadows pouring out in a sudden rush. The darkness was all consuming, threatening to devour anything caught in the path of the expanding shadows.

Wolfman was on the move. He could see DragonierMan beginning his assault and didn't want to risk attacking then and there. He tapped into his bestial strength, his leg muscles bulging as he propelled himself across the battlefield. He cut to his left, boots slapping against the plain stone earth as he moved. Selene followed, the support program shadowing the Navi a few yards behind him. He saw DragonierMan unleash his attack and dodge away. Wolfman used the opportunity to strike as well.

The Navi channeled the second battlechip into his cane, the eyes of the wolf's head gleaming in response. He slammed the butt of the cane against the ground, sending the chip energy surging into the ground. The earth shook with a deafening roar as a geyser of superheated water erupted a few yards ahead of him. A second geyser followed the first, then a third, each moving in a line toward the waiting viruses.

Wolfman raised his free arm, fingers outstretched toward his opponents. He took aim at the three candle viruses and released the last of the battlechip energy he had stored. Black beams of energy launched from his palm in rapid succession. He fired a trio of energy bolts toward each of the candles, hoping to snuff them out before they could counter attack.

2. Lupine Grace (Dodgex2)
3. Waterline1 (80 Aqua DMG + Ground + Line) to Spikey group (x2 elemental advantage)
4. Tri-Arrow (10x3 DMG) to Haunted CandleA, B and C

DragonierMan ferociously charged straight into the enemy territory while brandishing his sword, stopping directly at the center of the virus groups. His spin-slash was unfortunately ineffective as only two of the six was struck, giving the viruses the chance for their own attacks. No matter how hard DragonierMan would have tried dodging the attacks, he was still standing on the center of the viruses attention, suffering some minor damage from the Spikey at his back before he escaped. [-15]

WolfMan, on the side, approached the battle in a different way as he stayed as far as he could from it all. His TankCannon, for better or for worse, exploded in front the Spikey instead of the Candles and successfully wounded the viruses. The canine viruses attempted to go in for a counter attack, but it was all a miss and instead received a blast of water from beneath their paws, quickly deleting them. Finally, the Triarrows, though weaker than the attacks thrown by the two navis, pinned down the wounded Candle with one of its needles.

DragonierMan rushed headlong into battle, becoming the center of fiery attention. His rocky defenses stood strong against the beat of searing flames until the constant chipping away left him vulnerable to the sweltering heat. Seeing its chance, one of the burning wolves flanked the dragon from the back, and tagged the warrior with a smoking fireball. The navi gritted his teeth as his armor steamed and melted around the black scorch mark, causing him to stumble slightly. But, as the navi turned to dispatch his assailant that had stung him, the creature was blown away by the dragon's wolfish ally.

DragonierMan gave a mighty roar and rushed the remaining two viruses. He twisted around the battlefield like a serpent until he was upon his foe. His skin once again became as hard as rock as he raised his wide blade and swung. Visible tendrils of light bled out of his arms and wrapped around the blade, making it expand, giving it additional cutting power. The bloated saber left a blazing trail of energy as it arced through the air at a virus.

He followed the arc of his blade, curling up upon himself and letting the momentum carry him into a roll. He rolled passed the virus he had struck at and came out of the roll next to the second virus. Getting his feet quickly, he swung upward at the second, cleaving a path to the sky with another engorged sword swing. The fat blade left a lingering glow along its passage, hanging in the air like a mono-chrome rainbow as the dragon dodged away from the group, leaving his enemies' condition to his ally and fate.

Interestingly enough, the scorch mark that scarred the knight's back was also quickly fading away, with the armor mending along the lines where it had melted.

Wolfman backpedaled, making sure to keep his distance from the fiery viruses. He could feel Victor slotting in another battlechip, the flood of data swelling inside him. He held the energy in check as he moved, keeping it at the ready for when he needed it. He retreated from the viruses, widening the distance between them while making sure he stayed on the plain rocky terrain.

"You alright?" Wolfman called out to his partner. He had seen DragonierMan take a hit, though it didn't look serious.

Selene followed Wolfman as he backed away, the ghostly female moving in a wide arch behind the two Navi. Contrariwise, DragonierMan continued to charge in head long. The knight brought his sword to bear once more, striving to cleave the remaining viruses in twain.

Wolfman muttered under his breath once again. DragonierMan's fighting style couldn't be any more different than his own. Wolfman preferred to exploit the weaknesses of his opponents and wasn't afraid to keep his distance if the situation called for it. DragonierMan seemed more the type to bull his way forward and keep attacking no matter the consequence. Compounding on this difference, the majority of Victor's stronger battlechips were designed to cause a wide range of devastation. With DragonierMan in melee range of the viruses, there was a very real chance of him being caught in the blast radius of Wolfman's attacks.

The Navi bided his time, waiting for DragonierMan to move out of the way before he attacked. He strafed to his left, taking careful aim one of the remaining viruses. As he channeled the battlechip energy into his free hand, he struggled to limit the spread of the sonic waves. He cupped his palm, keeping the space between his fingers narrow to limit the initial waves. He fired the sonic wave at the virus, the vibrations causing his palm to tingle as they washed over the battlefield toward the remaining candle.

"Well," Wolfman said as he surveyed the remains of the viruses. "That was simple enough. And it looks like we have located a suitable spot to begin our search. Shall we continue?"

The Navi tapped his cane against the rocky ground, moving purposely toward the mysterious building that stood off in the distance. He didn't bother waiting to see if DragonierMan was coming as well. Selene followed close behind him, the floating girl scanning the area around her for more viruses that might be lying in wait.

"Stay close now," Wolfman told Selene. "We can't be sure who or what is waiting for us in that building."
DragonierMan stood over the corpse of the last defeated HauntedCandle in silence for a breath. Then he reached down and grabbed it up in his large hands. He growled as it began to disintegrate in his grip, flaking off bits of data like the ashes of wood in a flame. He inhaled deeply and WolfMan saw the ashes swirl out of the virus and merged with the navi, through the faceplate of his helmet, as if he was devouring the essence of the virus. Absorbing its power.

Finally the virus was no more and DragonierMan stood alone amongst the rubble. He turned as WolfMan began to move away, toward the building. The dragon's eyes were two burning embers illuminating the darkness for a moment, before they cooled back to obsidian. He nodded at their continuation. "Let us make haste," he said as he heaved his heavy blade onto his shoulder again and followed WolfMan toward the building in the distance.

[Moving out.]
The two navis continued their investigations as they continued to follow the mysterious building ahead of them. Soon, it became closer and closer as the shape of the building became clear and the navis could start to smell the thick soot from the smoke. The building was nearly covered in dull silver pipes that stretched into the air as it continued to bellow out the smokes, with few parts of the buildings shown as pitch black metal plating precariously placed over the tower.

At the very base of the tower, a single bronze gate was shut with two bulky navis standing nearby, most likely guarding the entrance. Armored in the very same black plates from the tower, the two navis firmly stood next to the gate with an axe and a hammer in their hands, respectively. They immediately caught WolfMan and Dragonier's presence, but they only turned their eyes towards the navis and began to speak in unison.

"Leave, or face us in battle."

"Could be a foundry of some sort," Wolfman said aloud as he got a closer look at the tower and the billowing smoke. "Though I haven't seen many tower shaped foundries. Or perhaps they are tapping into the underground magma flow to power whatever is going on inside."

"We can't be sure unless we can get inside," Victor responded. "And it looks like they have a guard posted."

Wolfman could see them as well; two guards standing next to what looked to be the only entrance to the tower. The guards were bulky warriors, clad in black plate mail and looked to be proficient with the weapons they held at the ready. Wolfman was hesitant to attack them head on.

"There might be a side entrance," he said to Victor.

"There might," the NetOp answered. "But I doubt it is any less guarded. Do you think you could use the pipes to scale the tower and go in from the top?"

"I could, but I don't know about Selene. Besides, with that smoke billowing out from the top of the tower, those pipes could be blistering hot."

"Then I suppose the gates are your best option if you plan on seeing this mission to its completion."

Wolfman nodded in response. "Send me the Invis chip then. Selene, if things go sour, just run."

He continued up toward the gates. The floating girl fell back, putting Wolfman and DragonierMan between her and the two guards. She was ready to move if the guards should begin an attack. As Wolfman drew near, the guards stared at him and his companions. When they were close enough the guards began to speak in unison.

"Leave, or face us in battle."

"Well," Wolfman muttered under his breath. "That was creepy."

The Navi stood with his cane planted firmly on the ground, his left hand resting against the wolf's head pommel while he doffed his hat with his right.

"Hello, good sirs," he addressed the guards. "Now, I can see that it is your duty to guard this here establishment and that is fine, just fine. I wouldn't want to get either of you fine gentlemen in hot water with your employer. However, my companions and I have a job to do as well. We have been tasked with inspecting this building and taking inventory of its functions."

Wolfman shifted his hat to his left hand and held up his right to forestall any argument.

"Now I know what you are going to say. 'Leave, or face us in battle,' right? Well, let me tell you this, we are authorized to be here. As such, I would ask that you let us pass without incident or perhaps one of you fine fellows would like to summon your employer so that we may speak with him? Personally, I have all day. However, my friend here is a busy man and rather impatient. He probably wants to take you up on your offer of violence. You don't want to be deleted. I don't want to be deleted. As such, let's just skip the vulgarities and you can let us be on our way. If anyone asks, I'll be sure to say that it was someone else who let us into the building. I'll even put in a good word for you with your boss. What do you say?"

Wolfman doubted he could talk his way out of this situation, but he had to try anyway. He readied his battlechip data, prepared to activate it if the two guards proved dangerous. Once activated, the battlechip would render him invisible for a short time. It would probably be enough for him to fool the guards long enough to prepare an attack of his own. He hoped Selene was paying attention as well and was ready to dodge if need be.

As Selene moved past DragonierMan, he held out his free hand with a miniature card of battlechip data. "Take this," he stated as he placed it firmly in her own hands without looking at her. He then moved out in front of her as she moved to the back of the party, ignoring any reply she gave. His cape swirling behind him on the dry Hade's wind.

It was then DragonierMan heard the challenge. Two guards. He smirked within his helmet as he heaved his large sword in front of him. Good, more battle.

But then there was talking...

DragonierMan's shoulders visibly drooped as his ally began, bleh, 'asking' to be let in. Giving a whole speech about how they were 'authorized' to be there. How they were meant to 'inspect' and 'take inventory.' Some of it was true, they were there to survey the premises. Although they were only 'authorized' by the GNA, and probably not by whoever it was that lived here.

DragonierMan's skin visibly hardened and became scaled in gray as his ally and the guards conversed. Thin ribbons of steam arose from the gaps in his armor as his heart heated for battle. His muscles tightened as he gripped his wide-bladed sword with both hands. His legs bulged and his boots dug into the earth as he prepared to lunge. His posture, as WolfMan pointed him out during the length of the conversation, dared them to fight.

No matter how much WolfMan tried to reason, the two guards didn't even budge from their spots or even returned a response back at the navi. They clearly saw DragonierMan preparing to attack at any given moment, but even that didn't stir the guards into attacking the investigating navis.

"Leave, or face us in battle." Said the guards in unison.

"A tad one note, don't you think?" Wolfman sighed when he heard the guards' simultaneous response to his bluff.

The Navi tossed his hat over his shoulder, trusting in Selene to catch the accessory and hold on to it for him. He reversed his grip on his cane, raising the length of wood to his waist like the sheath of a sword. His free hand reached up to wrap around the top of the cane, palm resting inches from the wolf head pommel. He twisted the cane slightly, the movement greeted by an audible click.

"Then I suppose you leave me no choice," Wolfman sighed.

The Navi drew the hidden blade from within his cane. As the silver sword left its sheath, the blade scrapped against a striking plate. Sparks flew and the sword was wreathed with flame. Wolfman turned the draw into diagonal slash, moving to chop down the guard standing in front of him.

The Navi reversed his strike, turning to deliver an overhead chop with his flaming blade. With luck, the fiery sword was strong enough to cleave through the guard's black steel armor. Battlechip energy spent, the flames dancing along the edge of the blade died down.

Wolfman retreated from the guards, activating the defensive battlechip that he had readied earlier. Shadows rose up from the floor, obscuring the Navi's form and causing him to fade from view. Silently, he strafed to his left, hoping to use his invisibility to his advantage and avoid any counter attacks that the guards would throw his way.

"You want to do this the hard way?" DragonierMan asked as he grit his teeth and dug his boots into the ground. His eyes narrowed and he even snorted steam. "Fine..." The air shimmered, then erupted in white flame all around him, scorching a ring of embers into the craggy terrain. The ashes drifted up into the breeze, burning brightly one last time before winking out. He seemed to be literally on fire, flames licking across every inch of his armor and cloak, but he seemed unburnt by the experience. He exploded into battle riding a conflagration, "We'll do this the hard way!"

He bellowed as he rushed at the axe wielder like a linebacker, leaving a flaming trail in his wake. The wind whipped about the armored navi, feeding the flickering flames, as he blazed a fiery path through the Hade's heat. His feet became a blur amongst the inferno. And he seemed to solidify into a gleaming battering ram of kinetic force just prior to his impact... with?

Possibly the gate.

"Arrrgh!"

The dragon screamed in frustration, whether he initially collided with his intended target or not, as he turned about in an eruption of smoke and flame. He sped back the way he came, his footsteps torching another blazing path toward his opponent. As he came close, he tried smashing into the axe-guard again on the second pass with his armored shoulder. The pauldron formed a wicked spike of jagged flames, kindled from the dragon's channeled might, as he plowed through the guard's last known location. Spearing the air with broiling rage.

The momentum from the charge carried DragonierMan away from the guards. And he ended up running in a wide arc before he was able to slow down enough for more nimble footwork. Weaving across the rock-strewn terrain as best as he could at his speed. Dodging around the rocky outcroppings that moved to trip the navi up. More than enough time for the guards to collect themselves and launch a counterattack.

As soon as WolfMan and Dragonier showed sign of hostility, the TowerGuards drew out a pitch-black shield out from their back as they stood firmly. "You've ignored our warnings." said the Guards as they prepared their own weapons. "You will face the consequence."

Their shields withstood both the Firehits and the DashAttacks, but one of the shield had already reached the limit as it shattered in the navi's hand. The TowerGuards went in for their own counter attack, standing away from their position as they approached the two navis with their heavy weapons. Thankfully, WolfMan and Dragonier was prepared for an attack such as these as none of it even laid a scratch on their body.
