Yay Netopia!

Deuce repaired his wound and TennisMan proceeded to make use of the raccoon to score extra cash. The sneaky thief tried to steal some of the data, but the swordy immediately turned around and slashed the poor raccoon into tiny fragments...

However, it did give TennisMan a chance to hit with the Twinfang along with Deuce's attack, deleting the swordy on the premise. One virus remained, unscratched by the battle and forcefully dashed at the navi. Again, it raised it sword and attempted to do the same tactics as last time, but it didn't count the sheer power of TennisMan's Windracket that literally blew him away to kingdom come!

((Ah crap, Deuce wasn't supposed to Restring. I remembered to change it in the RP, but I forgot to take it out of the summary. He used it last turn so he couldn't have used it again this turn. Please drop Deuce's HP back down to 70.))

"Dude, that sucked." Desmond said.

"Well, I'm glad you didn't send me to steal anything from them." Deuce added.

Tennisman was slightly disappointed that his Bandacoon didn't steal anything, but was more disheartened by the fact that it didn't return at all. Despite the fact that its data was stored on a chip, it was different than a Cannon or a Windracket. He wondered if it had a memory or feelings. But such thoughts were wasted on moments like these. He approached the remnants of the viruses, picking up zenny and bug fragments as he walked like cleaning litter off the street.

"Nothing to add, Tennisman?" Deuce asked.

"Yeah, say something." Desmond prodded.

The only word he could muster together was a dragged out, "I..."

For all his strategies and planning, Tennisman wasn't one for big speeches or fancy words. He had nothing to say that seemed appropriate.

"...Don't hurt yourself." Deuce chuckled.

Desmond laughed and said, "Yo, that's harsh. Come on, let's go! Next battle, I lead!"

Tennisman nodded and made one last check of the field before heading off.

((Battle 8))
As TennisMan charged on to the next step of his training, he was surprised to notice bubbles floating by on the breeze. As more and more approached, it was apparent that they were being propelled forward by the strong wind! TennisMan would have to be careful to avoid them as he closed in on the next enemy group, a number of starfish backed up by windboxes and some floating nautilus. After a battle like this, TennisMan might never want to blow bubbles again!

--BATTLE 8, START--
"Is it just me or did things just get serious?" Deuce mused.

"Yo, come on! This is SOOO easy! EVERYONE's low health!" Desmond stated.

Tennisman shared his racket's sentiments. In his mind, he ran through the list of chips at his disposal. He took note of how many of his attacks were rendered practically useless with the introduction of a little wind. Without another thought, Tennisman had assigned the two Windboxes as his primary targets. He gripped Deuce tightly and prepared himself for battle. Deuce set up his usual barrier in response.

"HiCannon, Shotgun and V-Gun." Tennisman said.

"WHAT!? SPEAK UP! THE WIND'S SCREWING WITH THE SOUND." Desmond shouted.

Tennisman's ears rang. Unfortunately for him, he could hear his operator quite clearly even if it wasn't true the other way around. Still, he complied and yelled his request again, "HICANNON, SHOTGUN AND V-GUN."

Again, Desmond shouted a response, "OKAY!"

Tennisman winced and raised his buster arm, taking aim with the powerful cannon. He charged it as he tried to hold it steady against the wind. It wasn't easy but he fired and watched as the enhanced artillery round ripped through the winds. A frontal assault wasn't working very well, giving him the idea of moving around to a better position. He circled around the virus group to a different angle and readied two more piercing gun chips. The wind was less direct and Tennisman felt more confident with his accuracy. He fired twice in succession, first with the Shotgun, following up with a similar V-Gun, both aimed at the other Windbox.

Content to leave it at that for now, he moved around the field and watched his enemies. He had never seen them before and he was always eager to collect more intelligence for future reference.

Tennisman hurriedly straps on his Tennis Racket and forms a barrier around the program. Leaping into action, the sports navi blasts some devastating cannon fire at the Windboxes, the first going down without a hitch, and the second taking a little longer to bring down. The V-Gun had ricocheted straight toward the Nautilus', but only hit a simple barrier they made.

But Tennisman and Deuce were surely gaining the lead- OH GOD BUBBLES. DODGE MAN, DOOOOOODGE... Oh you dodged them.

"YOU- I... OH MY GO- OHHHHHHHH SNAP!" Desmond blurted out each time Tennisman evaded an incoming attack. The bubbles all came close to hitting him but without the interference from the Windboxes, Tennisman was free to move around and dodge freely between the relatively slow attacks. Still between dodging and watching his attackers, he noted that the starfish didn't move much, or at least didn't move while attacking. The bubbled viruses hadn't attacked yet but Tennisman wondered if popping the bubbles would be more hazardous than leaving them alone. Still, he couldn't leave them like that. He neeeded to test the water, so to speak.

"Kunai1 and Boomerang." Tennisman said.

Queueing up the battlechip data in a mental cache, Tennisman took in a deep breath and prepared his serving stance. His knees bent slightly and hunched over slightly, he prepared a clip of tennis balls in his buster's transparent protruding clip. He locked his eyes on one of the floating shellfish and let him have it. In the blink of an eye, four balls were served like unloading a chaingun. Just as quickly, Tennisman called on the data he had readied and tossed a cluster of small blades at the second Nautilus.

"WATCH OUT. THERE ARE BUBBLES COMING." Desmond shouted again.

"The Windboxes are gone. Feel free to speak at a normal register." Deuce answered, while shooting a ball at one of the bubbles.

"Oh. Right, my bad." Desmond apologized.

Tennisman wanted to thank his racket for being the blunt voice of reason that he could never provide but this was not the time nor the place. Loading the second piece of chip data into his racket, a greenish aura formed around Deuce's face. Tennisman pulled his arm back for a swing and swiped across horizontally, whipping out a wave of energy slicing through a small circle around a few of the Starfishes.

"Deuce, I require more cover fire. Desmond, Spice." Tennisman ordered. He was a man of few words but spoke with a powerful charismatic tone that negated the need for extrapolation.

Tennisman charged closer into the Starfishes while Deuce shot a few more tennis balls to pop incoming bubbles. As he closed in, he could feel the Spice data load on the emblem on his chest. He forced the data into his right hand where he had already prepared his own signature attack: a Court Change.

Tennisman leapt up with an uncharacteristic look of rage breaking through his usual stoic expression. He landed, slamming his fist into the ground ahead and sending a wave of grass and toxic spores spreading through the ground in front of him. The attacks fed off of each other as they coursed together towards the rest of the viruses.

Choosing his attacks wisely, TennisMan managed to rid the nautilus viruses of their protection and then destroy them, calling to mind images of the shellfish which is shelled and then consumed. Rather than thinking about the witty metaphor, however, TennisMan occupied himself with destroying the remaining viruses. A small group of starfish were cut down in a row by the flying boomerang and the remaining viruses could not be expected to dodge the sudden attack, being largely immobile. Deuce managed to deflect the few bubbles that had been launched.

Gain: 2300 zenny, 34 Bugfrags
Tennisman hadn't really expected the battle to flow so readily in his favour but was glad that it did. He brushed his nose slightly to rid himself of the odour of Spice spores that still lingered in the air. It had the smell of raw earthy mushrooms mixed with peppers.

"Moving on?" Desmond asked.

Tennisman nodded and walked away while the zenny and remaining bugfrags disappeared in beams of light. He wasn't sure where he was going but this was all good practice and he was definitely improving.

"Nice." Desmond added, "Hey, I'm gonna mess around with the folder. Gonna put in that Windracket we got from that tennis match and maybe this Bodyburn. Countbomb and HolyPanel aren't so great."

((Battle 9))
Tennisman strolled forward, racket ready, and saw more viruses in the distance.

5 Megalians loomed above them, seeking to crush to navi with their godly might, while 5 amplified Bashers in the distance activated their targeting vectors while locking onto Tennisman. 3 Quakers were between the Megalians and Bashers, ready to jump at a moment's notice. The Steel wrecking balls they carried proved powerful threats.

To top it off, three Brushmen moved around the field and brandished their tools enthusiastically, painting Holy Panels under the Bashers.

The set-up was difficult, but it would surely be interesting.

-ROCK IT OUT-
"Well, it seems as though we've really stepped in it this time." Deuce remarked.

Desmond was the first to reply, "Ah damn, we probably should have kept the Countbomb but I guess shiny panels wouldn't really help now anyways."

Mindful of the Bashers in the rear of the group, Tennisman was determined to bring them down first but he would have to break his way through the defensive lines the other viruses made up. He gave Deuce a solid squeeze on his grip.

"Tense much?" Deuce asked, erecting a small barrier to protect himself.

"I am." Tennisman replied succinctly.

"Are you ready for this?" Deuce asked.

"I am not." Tennisman said before rushing straight into the Magalian group, brandishing his racket across his chest like a sword. There were three of them in the way, protected by huge spherical auras that wrapped them all in flaming bubbles. Not ready to be stopped so easily, Tennisman continued forward and slashed out with Deuce in a wide wave and retracting him just as quickly. A large burst of air cleared his way as he continued through to the Quakers. Withholding his racket, he stabbed out his free arm.

"Elecpulse." He snapped, forcing a wave of energy blasting at the second wave of Quakers and lone Brushman.

"Almost there..." Deuce said.

Tennisman closed in on the row of Bashers, knowing full well he couldn't take them all with one or even two attacks. He lurched forward, almost looking as if he was about to stumble but pressed his hand down to the ground, initiating an alteration in the terrain.

"Court Change." He said, sapping the vitality from the panels around him.

The panels dried and withered, giving way to brown hues and a cracked appearance. It wasn't long before the solid ground turned to a large dune of sand beneath the heavy Bashers.

"NOT SO SHINY NOW, ARE YA?" Desmond taunted.

"...Is he talking to the panels?" Deuce asked.

With one quick motion, Tennisman swiped again at one end of the Basher line, swinging another wave of air over the newly created desert, practically sandblasting his targets in a devastating combination attack. Tennisman had reached his goal but he was tired. Not having enough energy to move himself, Deuce provided a small gust that shifted him around the dunes but also whipping up a haze of sand in the process.

Tennisman coughed, "Thank you."

"Of course." came the reply.

The Windracket's insanely powerful wind force blew the protective Magalian's fiery auras, leaving them defenseless. In desperation, they detached their heads from their bodies to attack the navi, but TennisMan already made the move of heading towards the middle virus group.

The Elecpulse zapped the majority of the viruses into destruction, leaving only one Quaker virus that leaped to evade and retaliate. Next, the sands covered over the holy panels that protected the Bashers and helped the navi's next attack. Three Bashers was destroyed and the surviving Brushman took it upon them selves and painted more holy panels across the field.

Looking to the rest of the Bashers that were still standing, the Holy panels beneath them were still very much intact. Tennisman could no longer extend the range of his sandy terrain, but he could turn it to something else.

"Court Change." He muttered again, prompting another terrain altering wave under his targets.

As the grass rolled forward, so did he, following closely after the budding greenery by closing in on the flaming turrets.

"Fire chips?" Desmond asked.

Tennisman nodded and prepared Deuce for some close range combat. Without formally requesting it, he knew what would be slotted in. The folder only had a few fire chips but only two would be useful in this situation. Tennisman charged in after the first Basher EX, slashing at it once with Deuce

"Is it just me or is it getting hot in here?" Deuce asked.

Channeling the Firehit data into Deuce, an aura of heat steamed away from the racket's face, distorting the air around it. Tennisman struck again before the full effect kicked in.

"Hot, hot, hot, hothotHOTHOTHOT!" Deuce repeated as his strings seemed to catch fire. Tennisman completed his combo with a powerful hacking motion, burning the ground under the powerful impact. The flames from the attack quickly died away only to be replaced with another set.

"HOTHOTHOT!" His racket continued.

With a powerful backhand stroke, Deuce was swiped at the other BasherEX with devastating force. Even so, it would not be enough, prompting Tennisman to continued his melee assault with an upward drive of his racket. The final swing seemed to extinguish the remaining embers from the Firehit, much to Deuce's relief.

"Behind you!" warned Desmond.

Tennisman spun around, instinctively raising his buster arm. A chip was loaded and a round was fired in the blink of an eye.

"Phew... What was that? A HiCannon?" Deuce asked.

"That's some nice reflexes there." Desmond praised.

TennisMan's next constant strike with the firehit along with Deuce destroyed the bare Bashers as they burned to crisp along with the grass underneath them.

However, while he was too busy taking care of the Bashers, couple of things happened. The quaker landed before the navi could finish, hitting both the navi and the SP, but they still continued their attack and finished the backstabbing navi with the cannon. On the other hand, the surviving BrushMan proceeded to be with the surviving group and paint more of their famous holy panels underneath the unprotected viruses.

With the immediate dangers surrounding him gone, Tennisman could finally focus on the building threat of the Magalians and Brushmen in the distance. Two of them still had auras and more panels were being painted over to provide them with extra protection on top of that. This was going to be rough.

"Got any plans?" Deuce asked.

Tennisman shook his head but kept his gaze locked on the virus group. Ever second he waited would only provide them with more Holy Panels. He needed to act fast.

"You know, water beats fire." Deuce hinted.

"AquaNeedle." Tennisman blurted out.

The two viruses with auras were still hovering about. He wanted to hit both and tried to aim his attacks as best he could. As he tracked his targets' movements, Deuce sent up a steady stream of wires coursing up his arm to patch over some of the damage he had sustained. It wasn't much but it would have to do. Finally, finding a good opening, Tennisman unleashed his attack, dropping three sharp stalagtites from the sky over the Magalians. They crashed down hard over the Holy panels, desecrating them with cold, rocky debris. Tennisman resisted the urge to dash in and kept his distance.

"Kunai." He requested.

Taking aim at one of the Brushmen, he whipped a loose collection of knives into the broom-like virus. The first of the blades carried a yellow glow that left a neon streak as it zipped through the air. He quickly followed up the attack with another set of fast paced projectiles in the form of his Ace Serve. Four tennis balls rocketed towards the other Brushman. Deuce complimented each attack with his own tennis ball, shot along with the group.

"Wait." Deuce prompted.

"Why?" Desmond asked, "Yo, we got this! He just has to run in and hack those guys up! Use Katana!"

"WAIT!" The racket shouted in an assertive tone, "Those heads attack by launching their heads out. They leave the safety of their precious panels to do so, so counter them as they do."

"Yo. Tennisman." Desmond said, "Your call."

Tennisman sighed and made his request, "V-Gun."

Desmond let out a disappointed, "Tsk, fine. Whatever."

Waiting for the Magalians to attack Tennisman waited and tried to stay light on his feet. Ready to sidestep, he held his gun at the ready and watched and waited.

Both stood silently till one of them made the first move, but the impatient viruses blindly fired their own head towards the navi. TennisMan was able to dodge all of them and hit all of them with his V-Gun, but from an unfortunate turn of event, Deuce was struck directly and the barriers could only lessen the damage than fully prevent it.

Once realizing what their enemy was planning, they quickly changed spots from one another to fully utilize the Holy panels they had.

The Magalian struck harder than expected, punching through Deuce's barrier like it was paper and biting straight through to the throat. Tennisman pulled his arm away in response barely saving his racket from being completely destroyed.

"Deuce!" Tennisman called in despair.

"AUGH! Watch it!" Deuce cried out.

The Magalian retreated very quickly, preventing Tennisman from countering in time. He raged against his assailant's cowardice for attacking his racket instead of himself, abandoning his level-headed attitude in favour of enacting immediate revenge. He gave chase with a strafing dash after the virus. He held Deuce to his side, trailing behind himself in relative safety. Another barrier popped up to replace the one that was lost. As he continued to move in, Tennisman gave a quick slash with Deuce, placing him back in temporary danger to clear a path. A gust of wind rolled out in front of him like an invisible carpet.

"Hey!" Deuce complained.

Almost reaching his goal, Tennisman dropped one arm down to the ground as he ran, scratching a line of panels.

"Court Change." He said, for the third and final time.

Blades of grass sprouted from where his fingers touched down and spread out over towards the holy panels. Not ready to attack just, Tennisman weaved about until he found the perfect opportunity to strike.

"Spice." Tennisman called out.

"AWYEAH!" Desmond shouted.

A puff of yellow and purple noxious gasses spewed out all over the grassy field. His work done, Tennisman continued to move through the clouds of spores, dancing through them, holding Deuce's safety above his own. In the confusion, he slapped a tennis ball into one of the viruses but never once stopped moving.

The two who didn't attack last time fired their own heads at the navi, but it was either dodged or deflected by the powerful gust. Now in close proximity with the remaining viruses, TennisMan proceeded to change the area once more into the grassy patch, covering over the last of the holy panels. The navi didn't waste a second before activating the Spice chip, which corroded the viruses' body into a much more brittle form.

Now that he was right in the middle of the Magalian group, Tennisman could not risk dropping his guard at all. Their mass confusion also wasn't helping his cause.

"Windracket." Tennisman said while Deuce repaired himself.

An aura of wind formed around Tennisman that churned and blew ahead of him, forming a tailwind that pushed him through the group with great haste. A combination of the chip's effect and his racket's inherent wind-based abilities, Tennisman made his way to the strongest looking of the Magalians, which wasn't saying much. Parts of its face had corroded and exposed the inert rocky data underneath. With a quick swing from his racket, a wall of air surged up against the viruses in a white wave that nearly tore up the fresh grass. He turned to face the rest of the group while weaving to a safe position. Part of the gusts that fueled his speed died away dropping him back to a normal speed.

"TwinFang." He added.

Taking aim at the next healthiest Magalians, Tennisman was ready to fire when he found himself in extremely close proximity to another virus. He instinctively slashed out at it with Deuce and kept his lock on the other target. The shot was fired mid-step and launched two ivory spears across the grassy turf.

Tennisman spun around, scanning the field for any stragglers that had managed to survive his assault. Scanning left and right in jerky motions made it hard to get an accurate reading but it kept him alert and increased his general awareness much greater than if he simply slowed down and really looked.

He refused to accept such a luxury and asked, "Desmond, are we clear?"

"Iunno. I think so? Lemme check." His operator replied, "Thought you were gonna ask for a MarkCannon so I got it ready. Here."

More chip data was loaded into Tennisman's arm cannon as he dashed about. He was full of energy, mostly due to Deuce's efforts and strings that bound together and patched over his wounds.

It was able to dodge Deuce's attack AND the precise MarkCannon. It looked straight towards TennisMan and launched its face at twice the speed than usual! The navi couldn't even react to the attack!...but...It faceplanted straight into the ground and deleted it self...

A sigh of relief punctuated the end of the battle. Tennisman looked around, finally slowing down to appreciate the silence of the empty battlefield. Coming to a stop, he sat and rested. Eyes closed and his breathing dropping back down to a normal rate, part of him couldn't believe the victory he had achieved.

"Yeah, take a break." Desmond said, "I'm gon mess with the folder and Navicust."

Tennisman waved his hand in an approval.

"Still, those were some nice moves you pulled there. Kickass." Desmond praised his navi.

"Quite remarkable indeed," Deuce added, "And what's even more remarkable is that you don't see to have a scratch on you..."

Tennisman opened his eyes and looked at his uniform. It was true that the only blemishes were superficial. He was practically encrusted with dirt and dust but he was in perfect condition. He had Deuce to thank for that and so he did.

"Thank you, Deuce." Tennisman said with a slight bow of his head.

"Well, I suppose we can call it even." Deuce replied.

After a few minutes of a well deserved break, Tennisman got back up to his feet and began to walk away. He didn't know where he was headed but he felt compelled to continue.
