Yay Netopia!

As he had expected, they had aimed for the Countbomb with the tennis ball. They were also starting to sound desperate. losing the playful tones their voices once carried. Already half-expecting their reaction, Tennisman was ready to dash to his Countbomb's defence. As he ran, he called out, "Guard."

In a quick blur, Tennisman slashed the racket out like a sword in a swift return. And with the swing came the realization that he had exhausted his final Guard chip. He felt the data slip away from his fingertips as it drained into his racket, making him feel empty. It was a shame to use them all up but his chips were meant to be expended. He knelt into a crouching position, partially to grieve his loss but also to reactivate his Netplay. Behind him, another digit on the bomb ticked down while ahead, his personal protective tennis net sprang up.

But he wasn't done. He stood tall and readed Deuce for a barrage of attacks. He didn't need words to convey the

"Boomerang and Kunai." Tennisman said.

Pulling Deuce to his side, Tennisman quickly channeled the chip data through his racket before swinging it hard, flinging out a spinning green wave in a tight arc around the court. It circled around in an odd loop while a cluster of kunais appeared in his free hand. They were incredibly sharp and seemed powerful enough to even shred through Deuce's strings. Tennisman followed his serving stroke by tossing the rest of his daggers at Love with a graceful half-spin as he retracted his racket back to a neutral place at his side.

Still, he wasn't satisfied. Tennisman raised his racket and shot two more balls at Love in powerful explosive swings that were more Deuce's attacks than his own. A part of him felt bad for assaulting a woman but they had challenged him.

...At least that was what he told himself to alleviate the guilt. Secretly, his desire to win the game and crush his opponents was overwhelming at this point, but he would never admit this to anyone and least of all to himself.

The ball was returned with the power of the Guard, something that was barely able to withstand the WindRacket. However, with its reflective power, it didn't even let the skillful TennisMan guide where the ball was heading. The Ball was shot towards Love in very fast and the navi was prepared for it.

"This is our chance, Advant~!"

"Yea! Let's use "that", Honey Lovey!"

The opportune chance revitalized their confidence and brought them back to their cheerful expression. Advant headed towards Love and they both looked at each other fiercely.

"READY?!"

They lifted both of their rackets up in unison and they were ready for the upcoming ball. But! They saw the flurry of attacks unleashed by TennisMan and hesitated for a second or two.

"Grr! We still need to score that point, Love! Even if it costs our life!"

"Yea! That sounds totally hardcore! You're so cool, Advant!"

The couple focused towards the ball once more and swung their racket. First, Advant hit the ball and sent it right towards TennisMan in a blinding speed. Then, Love appeared just half a second after her partner hit the ball and tried to hit it once more, adding even more speed and force into the ball. This, actually, didn't work out. Just when Love made contact with the ball, the Kunais and Deuce's attack struck her and completely messed her swing. The result was a ball, slowly gliding towards TennisMan...This was a God-given chance.

Once again, things had not gone according to plan but he could learn to adapt. The ball was arcing so slowly, it practically looked frozen in the air to him. Tennisman was one point away from winning and the Countbomb was still active. If he performed this return properly, he could claim victory in every aspect of this match, but he had to act fast.

"Katana." Tennisman said and gave his racket a flick of his wrist, forcing the bladed transformation.

The edge of Deuce's frame grew razor sharp but it still retained its flat rounded face. The ball came closer and Tennisman readied a tight grip on his samurai-styled racket. With the help from the chip, he would be able to swing his arm twice as fast as normal. As it approached, Deuce generated a small whirlwind ahead of the ball, cushioning it in place.

The instant the ball entered Tennisman's range, he struck. There was one swing in a fraction of a second, faster than anyone could see. There was another swing before Tennisman even heard the sound of the first. The ball was still in front of him.

Two hits.

He could do more.

Tennisman pushed his speed upgrades as far as they would go and laid into the yellow sphere with more swings of his racket, building up the power behind the return. Each stroke of his arm slice through the air effortlessly with the aid of the Katana chip. He had made another two swings in the blink of an eye but that still wasn't enough for him.

Four hits!

Tapping deeply into the depths of his abilities, Tennisman unleashed a quartet of swings, alternating fluidly between forehand and backhand strokes. There was no image of his motions or sounds to indicate he had even hit but he had doubled the number of hits from his previous combination. The ball still hadn't moved from his point of view.

EIGHT HITS!

Tennisman pulled his arm back up and over his shoulder in prepartion for one final smashing blow to end it. Deuce's gust was at its limit and the ball would soon be free to release all the energy put behind it. The wind that churned around Deuce's face alerted Tennisman that Desmond had slotted in the last Windracket in their folder. The last remnants of the Katana faded as he swung, imbuing his arm with just enough speed to catch up with himself. He slashed his racket slashed ahead of him, focussing the full power of the swing into a single point on the ball. There was enough raw elemental force to create a hurricane contained within Deuce that was all about to be transferred into the ball.

Tennisman finished his followthrough and realized it could still be stopped. Just as he had done with his Guards, all his efforts so far could have been in vain and he couldn't allow that. He wouldn't let that happen. As soon as his racket arm crossed his chest, his buster arm came up over top of his forearm aimed directly at Advant.

Not caring about what he fired, Tennisman just had to hit him before the ball reached him. A targetting reticle appeared above the his buster and he fired. Surprisingly, the sound of an amplified MarkCannon echoed across the court. Desmond had slotted in one of the remaining chips from their folder randomly. Tennisman dropped his arms and stalled. He was completely spent and needed to rest.

A single beep sounded from behind Tennisman. It was his Countbomb. The sum of his actions had been spent within a single second. He didn't need to turn around and could see it clearly in his mind.

Zero.

The couples immediately caught on their mistake when the ball was positioned perfectly for TennisMan. "No!! We're not going to let you win the game!!". They instantly took out all of their arsenals and did everything they could to stop the navi from winning the game. Throwing their bombs, shooting their cannons, but most of them were cut down unconsciously by the Katana's rapid slash. However, a bomb and a cannon was able to hurt the navi, activating the UnderShirt that broke into brittle pieces.

It was then TennisMan was set for his shot when he prepped his WindRacket and they had to resort to defense. Dropping all their weapons and gripped their rackets tightly with both their hands. The gust holding the ball was broken and the ball was sent straight in the middle of the left court in the speed of light. Ignoring the speed the ball was traveling in, the two raised their rackets and tried to block the ball. "ARRRRRRGGG!!". Both swung with all their strength and might, the two rackets crossed and hit the ball.

"GAME." Desmond stated with pride.

Tennisman was panting in short breaths having expended himself in the last round and being battered to the point of death. He had won and established himself worthy of his name, at least for now. He respected his opponents' skills but didn't approve of the manner with which they conducted themselves nor the way in which he had been forced to participate. If he was any weaker, he might have been deleted.

Tennisman passed a stoic look at Love and Advant before opening the door in the fence and leaving the game behind him.

((Battle 6))
Tennisman walked triumphantly from his match and out of the fenced-in area. He quickly realized his match against the tennis Navi pair attracted the attention of several viruses. There must have been something special about that fence, since they waited very patiently for Tennisman to exit before closing in on him; and I don't think they want autographs...

"Well, this is a surprise." Deuce said.

Tennisman thought he would have at least been able to get a moment's rest after the game he had endured but he had no such luck. He took in a deep breath and tried to take it slow. Deuce had meanwhile Restrung and Overwrapped himself

"Shotgun, V-Gun and Windracket." Tennisman requested, holding a hand to his forehead.

"Yeah, good call." Desmond answered back.

Tennisman knelt to bring his Netplay around and clutched his ribs as he did. He wasn't in the best shape and needed to recover soon. The mesh barrier popped up in front of him, ready to absorb an attack. Recognizing most of his enemies, Tennisman stepped back from the net knowing it wasn't exactly the perfect defence. Next, he took aim at the ghostly viruses and readied his arm cannon.

Data for a Shotgun round loaded itself into his buster and was prompty fired off in a quick blast. A similar V-Gun round replaced the expended cartridge and was also fired off at the Spookys. Tennisman didn't want to have to deal with them later, making extra sure he deleted them before they became a nuisance. The Magalians were a concern but Tennisman wanted to take out the Sparkys next. Tennisman brought Deuce in front of him and infused the Windracket data into his frame. Air churned around the racket's face and swirled to form a subtle rustling sound. Tennisman waited for the Sparkys to attack him and was ready to counter their charge. He also kept his eye on the Beetanks while considering knocking back their bombs with a small gust.

TennisMan quickly tended his wounds and protected him self with shields and barriers. Now feeling much safer than he was just a moment ago, his accuracy heightened and his shotgun and V-gun destroyed the Spookies and a stray bullet striked one of the Magalian's aura. The navi continued his assault by using the WindRacket against the hovering Sparky, but it was only able to delete one while the surviving virus simply zigzagged and zapped his shield down.

The Magalians blankly stared at TennisMan while the squadron of Beetanks targeted. One prematurely fired one, but the navi already expected such action and sent it straight back. It caused a large explosion, creating disorder among the virus, but one managed to fire a bomb that was able to chip the barrier down to half its power and hurt Deuce.

"TwinFang and Boomerang." Tennisman said, noting the damage his racket had sustained. He needed to stall to allow it to heal and moved around while keeping his eye for the stray holes scattered everywhere.

He only paused to aim his TwinFang at the Beetanks and fired off the two missiles at the weakened viruses. Continuing to move, he looked at the Sparky that had escaped his Windracket and stuck out his free hand, materializing a giant arc in an instant. He pulled it back as if about to serve and swung it, spinning it into the satellite's zigzagging path. Finally, he prepared his own signature attack, the Ace Serve, to bring down one of the other Beetanks. He served four balls at the virus, with Deuce supplying an extra shot aimed at the Magalian.

Not wating to stay still, Tennisman moved back and mainly watched the ground but listened for the telltale explosion of the Beetank's firing. He enjoyed returning the Beetank bomb with a gust of wind. It felt right.

It felt like tennis.

"I think the speed upgrade is finally starting to agree with you." Deuce noted.

Tennisman agreed, it was easier to move around without feeling drained. So long as he didn't push himself into attacking, he felt as if his systems could handle the stress and continued to move about.

"...But you could always stop for a moment to let me patch myself up." Deuce added.

Tennisman looked at his uniform, slightly blackened from the earlier Beetank bombs. He was a bit of a mess but still felt good for some reason. He took note of where the last few viruses were and formulated his plan.

"MarkCannon, AquaNeedle and Elecpulse." He called out.

Taking a moment to aim at the Beetank, his arm's buster scanned the field for a target with fast moving reticles. Deuce took advantage of the lull in Tennisman's motions to quickly patch over his own damaged frame while erecting another barrier around himself. Tennisman fired the powerful cannon round and continued moving while preparing a single tennis ball.

As the Aquaneedle rained down from above, Tennisman served a quick shot at one of the Magalians. Finally he stopped moving completely and held out an open palm. He watched for the viruses to attack and sprayed out deadly waves of energy in front of himself. The electromagnetic field pulsed outwards at the auraless aura viruses, threatening to corrupt any would-be attackers. Finally, he stepped back and held Deuce at the ready waiting for data from his attacks to resolve.

"Windracket?" Desmond asked.

Tennisman didn't reply but watched for sudden movements.

While Deuce was patching himself up from his wounds, TennisMan quickly destroyed the last remaining Beetank with his cannon. The Magalian-A viruses couldn't react to TennisMan at all, especially since when they exahusted their power to attack the navi last time, but proved futile as it dodged every attack. The barrage of attacks from the duo completely scrapped the virus, and to top it off, the windracket blew and obliterated what was left of the viruses.

"Plans?" Deuce asked.

Tennisman analyzed the group while thinking about how to proceed. He needed to get past the Swordys first in order to reach the Bashers in the rear. He had no idea what those other twin viruses were and didn't know how to deal with them. He would have to worry about it later as each second he spent strategizing was another opportunity he could be attacked. Deuce had set up a barrier while Tennisman planned in silence.

"Moonblade and Katana." Tennisman said as he ran into the Swordys in his way.

As he drew closer to engage the Swordys, a small dagger appeared in his hand. Finding himself close enough to execute the attack, he spun around quickly, delivering a deadly slash from his kunai to clear his way. He continued past the viruses, assisted by a tailwind courtesy of Deuce. Not wanting to be followed by survivors, Tennisman fell forwards in his run, placing his open palm to the ground. A tennis net popped up in front of him, but using his momentum and pushing off the ground with his arm, he flipped over the net as if it was a hurdle and kept his pace to the large gun batteries. He poured the Katana data into Deuce, who responded with a quick transformation into a light rounded axe. Tennisman gave him a test swing and made his final approach with a wide slash at the group and then following up with an overhead chop. He turned his attention to the other end of the group and made another dual strike at the two Bashers.

"Yo, watch out for those two weird guys." Desmond urged, "Man, they're creepy."

Tennisman nodded and readied Deuce.

TennisMan was able to penetrate through the Swordy's defensive line with his Moonblade, deleting two in the process. As soon as he was finished with his attack, TennisMan attempted to retreat and take on the defensive, a strange powerful force struck the navi's shield and it's shoulder. Now that he was roughly aware of how they attacked, Tennisman turned his undivided attention to the Twins and prepared to take them both out. He held Deuce in front of himself to parry an attack while he took aim at them, taking into account their movement patterns and speed.

"Elecpulse." Tennisman said getting ready to strike.

"Take em' both out with it." Desmond said, "and finish up the rest of the sword guys with

In a quick lunge, he extended his palm in a quick jab and sprayed a wave of electricity and magnetism at the two viruses. With his other hand still firmly holding Deuce, he brought about a vortex to keep the viruses together as his palm continued to emit the Elecpulse.

"MarkCannon and Kunai." He added as the final sparks died down.

Tennisman spun around with the MarkCannon already fully formed. He dashed backwards and away from the Swordys while locking the targetting reticle onto the closest virus. He fired and disengaged the gun, replacing it with a cluster of knives similar to the ones he had used earlier. He sprayed them at another Swordy and took up a serving stance to finish the last one and end the battle.

"Ace Serve." Tennisman said, smashing all four balls at the last Swordy's position in a chain of rapid strokes.

Satisfied with his work, Tennisman tried to stay light on his feet while Deuce performed some minor surgery along his arm.

Next, the powered markcannon deleted the swordy, but the next two attacks didn't work out as well. When the navi attempted to attack the remaining two viruses, they disappeared out of thin air and reappeared behind TennisMan!

They raised their sword and swiped down onto the navi. One was able to hit Deuce, destroying the barrier and managed to scratch the SP. The other Swordy's sword was close, but far from the navi's speedy evasion.

The Swordy's blade slashed right through Deuce's overwrap and bit into his frame, cutting through a few of the strings along the face. Tennisman could feel the resistance from the attack and immediately backed away from the attack, narrowly avoiding another attack.

"Deuce, are your injuries critical?" Tennisman asked.

"Just a scratch, but thanks for asking." Deuce replied.

Now that it was only down to two viruses, Tennisman eased up a little.

"Yo, go Pickpocket em'," Desmond suggested, "Daddy needs a new pair of tennis shoes."

Having almost forgot about the chip, Tennisman complied with a nod and waited for the chip data to load. Steams of data soon converged at his feet, congealing to form a benign Bandacoon virus. It sniffed the air curiously and then locked its gaze onto one of the Swordys. Tennisman pointed at its target and gave the order, prompting it to charge straight for the legless knight.

"...TwinFang?" Desmond asked.

Taking a moment for his Bandacoon to finish its work, Tennisman quickly raised his buster, firing off two simultaneous missiles at his targets. The spires spun through the air like drills in perfectly straight paths. Not content to leave their demise to only the TwinFang, Tennisman made two quick serves at the Swordys and circled around them like a shark.

"Sick. Pretty sure that did it." Desmond said, "Buuuuuut you probably wanna be sure so Windracket."

An aura of wind picked up around Deuce, practically forming a barrier around him. Tennisman kept his arm loose and watched for sudden teleportations. He passed a glance at his racket and could see the gash along the shaft the Swordy's blade had left behind. A small sympathetic twinge of pain sparked inside of Tennisman.
