Yay Netopia!

Strange enemies approach Tennisman, several of them looking more than slightly out of this world. There are a couple bashers, possibly friends of the ones Tennisman aced. However, there is one virus... is that a kettle? Either way, they're quite the bunch. Huh. Purple stuff is off to the side. That looks icky, and not very good to be standing in.

"What's that pot?" Desmond asked.

Tennisman had never seen this kettle-shaped virus but he hardly felt intimidated by cookware with an angry face. However, the row of Bashers and Magalians made something inside him cringe. He began to formulate a plan.

"Try a Heatshot?" suggested Desmond.

The teapot looked as if it fell under the fire element, but since he had no data on it at all, it was worth a try. He readied his buster to accept the chip data and nodded.

"Oh, I thought you were joking." Deuce butt in, "Those are Kettles. They explode if you hit them with fire."

Tennisman looked at his racket, "How do you know this?"

"...Uh, how do you not?" Deuce replied while erecting a force field in preparation for battle.

With that, Tennisman shook away his doubts and unleashed two quick fiery blasts from his gun. Assuming that would finish it, Tennisman requested more chips, "Aquaneedle and Windracket."

Each of the three spires crashed down over the Bashers in a succession of splashes. Tennisman prepared to dive in and follow up with his Windracket when Deuce shouted out, "STOP!"

Tennisman dashed back from a danger he wasn't even aware of. He surveyed the scene trying to pinpoint the cause for alarm.

"Kettle! Fire! Explosion! Does any of that ring a bell?" Deuce mocked.

It was true. He had charged in without realizing that he might be engulfed in any subsequent explosion. He took a moment to regain his composure and scan the field before he dashed in again, slapping a wall of wind across the Bashers. In doing so, he had also paid little attention to the Magalians and anticipated that decision would haunt him soon.

The warning from Desmond had been right on key, as the kettle did indeed explode after being pegged with two consecutive heatshots. Boiling hot water rained down in a vicious storm upon the other viruses, causing the Bashers to rust and spark violently, especially considering none of them had any means by which to evade the attack. The Megallians, however, were unharmed due to the protection of their aura fields. As soon as the water died down, the Megallians shot off their heads at TennisMan. One missed, but a final one collided, barreling through TennisMan's shield and then returning, smashing apart his barrier. Feeling the force of the head as it ripped past him, the navi could only be thankful that the attack had missed. One of the floating heads stood idle, biding its time.

The erratic pattern of the Magalians made planning an attack pointless. Tennisman couldn't track them well enough to anticipate anything and couldn't help but feel a little frustrated. He would simply have to bring them down with brute force, which was made simpler by the fact that their barriers had been removed with the Kettle's help earlier.

"Chips?" Desmond asked.

Tennisman responded mid-serve, smashing several balls at the closest virus with his Ace Serve, "TwinFang! Markcannon!"

"Aight," came the reply from his operator, "Yo, pickpocket one too. More bling."

With a nod of his head, Tennisman moved into a better position and attempted to aim his Twinfang to strike two targets. It was hard enough to get a lock on one, let alone track two targets but he didn't want to waste time. He saw a shot and took it, immediately readying himself for the inevitable MarkCannon. Instead, the Pickpocket chip loaded. A masked Bandacoon materialized at his feet, looking up from behind its fancy mask.

"Derp." it squeeked.

Tennisman sighed and directed it to one of the viruses he had just shot at. With any luck, it would act as a diversion while he executed his real attack.

"Incoming!" Deuce shouted in warning.

In a reflex, Tennisman swung his racket at the closest Magalian. However, with no chip or signature prepared it would have been a useless gesture. Fortunately for Tennisman, Deuce was no ordinary racket and unleashed a defensive wave of wind that pushed outwards in a harsh draft. Tennisman siezed the opportunity and fired off his MarkCannon with impeccable aim, thanks to its targeting scanner.

TennisMan and Deuce's attack proved to be the vain of Magalian when it was deleted instantly. His next attack with TwinFang also made full effect on the other remaining viruses.

The Bandacoo managed to be a good distraction while Tennisman attacked with his MarkCannon. deleting the second Magalian. The little thief failed to steal anything for his master and walked away slowly, sulking at his failure...

"Firehits." Tennisman said, strapping Deuce onto his back.

He polished his right fist while the Magalian moved around in front of him. It couldn't possibly have that much health remaining after taking the Twinfang and he calculated that one Firehit would be enough to finish it. His hand burst into flames as he prepared to counter the inevitable attack, biding his time. He dropped his hands into a better fighting position.

In the instant he saw an opening, Tennisman launched a left jab and quickly followed up with a right cross in a well-timed one-two punch to quickly bring the virus down.

((Battle 5))
"Do you believe in, fate?!"

A strange Heelnavi appeared just ahead of TennisMan, kneeling down with one hand on his heart and another towards the sky.

"I BELIEVE IN FATE, AND IT BROUGHT US TOGETHER, HERE, AT THIS, VERY, VERY, MOMENT!"

It stood and it stretched his head and his arm to the sky, with the expression as if he was going to cry at any moment.

"I'm offering this man who you sent as your offering! So you may bless me, with, your, LOVE!"

He focused his attention towards TennisMan and proceeded towards the navi with cart wheels, back flips, somersaults, and even...flying? WHAT HELL IS UP WITH THIS HEEL NAVI?!

((I'm missing bugrfrags from the last battle))

Desmond was the first to comment, "Yo dude, this is messed. Can you just go around him or something?"

"I agree," Deuce added, "I can tell this is simply going to be a waste of time."

But as much as Tennisman wanted to leave, he didn't see that as an option. Instead, he readied himself for battle by grabbing Deuce off his back and giving him a test swing. He rotated his arm and felt his shoulder, checking to see if everything was in good working order. There were no abnormalities and he felt ready to go.

"Countbomb and Lilbomb." Tennisman requested.

"Maaaaaannnn..." Desmond whined.

Tennisman activated the Countbomb chip, materializing a chunky timed explosive onto the field. He would have to stall for the duration of the countdown, which ticked down from a big green digital "3". Staying on the offensive, he continued the attack by smashing a chain of tennis balls at the Heelnavi and finishing with the Lilbomb, resulting in a wide, rolling explosion.

"Guard up!" Desmond added, slotting in an additional chip.

Deuce flashed yellow from the chip data while Tennisman nodded in thanks and tapped his enhanced racket to the ground.

"Court Change." Tennisman said, activating another of his abilities.

The normal panels around him cracked and aged into an ancient shade of brown. The tiles quickly weathered away to form a large patch of sand underfoot. His boots sank down slightly under the soft terrain and made it hard to move around, but he wasn't planning on dodging. With another swing of Deuce, Tennisman slapped a clod of sand up and into the Lilbomb cloud in an attempt to blind the Heelnavi. He hoped for his success for the sake of his Countbomb.

"Did you get him?" Desmond asked anxiously.

"OHH, SO TRICKY WITH THE COUNT BOMB!"

Stopping in mid air, he stopped and karate chopped the Count bomb in half, but it also gave chance for TennisMan's other attacks to make full effect. Furious, the Heelnavi attempted to retaliate, but he stopped before his attack after seeing the Guard chip being set up too soon.

"Ah, I bless thee with this, NAVI! I never felt so,a,l,i,v,e!"

The Heelnavi started to rush in for the attack, but Deuce's gust of sand got into its eye and momentarily stopped it from its track. It started to swing its arm around like a wild man, which actually managed to slightly scratch TennisMan across his arm.

MANIAC Heel Navi: 607

Deuce (SP): 60

Terrain: 33% Normal, 66% Sand
((The terrain is no longer 100% normal after sand))

"No." Tennisman replied as he recoiled from the grazing blow.

Having drawn his enemy closer to the fresh sand and momentarily blinding him, Tennisman was in a prime position to use his favoured battlechip.

"Windracket!" He added.

Tennisman had already begun to swing Deuce before the chip activated, but Desmond's quick reaction speed and operating skills caught up in time. The racket released a burst of air that kicked up the row of sand terrain in front of him, blasting it against the Heelnavi with the ferocity of a desert storm. Tennisman cut the followthrough of his swipe short and backtracked towards the normal panels behind him. The sandy turf offered a variety of offensive options but severely limited his ability to move.

As he plodded back, he requested more chips to cover his retreat, "Markcannon and AquaNeedle!"

The chips loaded as quickly as the Windracket, allowing Tennisman to aim his gun while he charged the Aquaneedle.

"Well he's certainly fast for a distraction, isn't he?" Deuce noted as he was waved idly at Tennisman's side.

Tennisman winced as a he felt something poke through his uniform. He recognized it as Deuce's patching program but he wasn't sure he approved of it right at that moment. Animated wires weaved themselves loosely through his clothes and over the small wound. The automated stitching stopped when it reached the end and tightened itself, covering up any evidence that he had taken damage. Tennisman had to admit that it was effective but it was still unpleasant to endure.

Having reached the end of his artificial clay court, Tennisman fired off the single MarkCannon round and unleashed the Aquaneedle that dropped down in front of the Heelnavi in a spray of suppressive fire.

"And what now?" Deuce asked.

Tennisman thought about strategy with nothing coming to mind. He hated the randomness of it all. There was no order to the Heelnavi's attacks unlike the simple minded viruses he was so used to fighting. He rotated his grip on Deuce and said, "Deuce, Overwrap. Desmond, Zapring."

"I genuinely hope you have a plan." Deuce remarked mockingly, erecting his shield.

Tennisman exhaled sharply and let loose the small lightning charge with a flick of his buster arm.

Deuce - Overwrap (40 HP barrier)

((My bad...again TT^TT))

"WOOAH!"

The Windracket quickly blew away the Heelnavi far from TennisMan, which gave the his SP a good chance to take his time while stitching the navi's Wound. The Windracket did some damage to Heelnavi and the sand from the court also managed to do small addition to the attack.

"I TOLD YOU, I, FEEL, SO, fucking, ALIVE!!"

The Heelnavi stood up as quickly as he could after being blown away, all pumped up and pissed off, but he was shot down again by the MarkCannon.

"GRAHAIINASONDUOIADNFIADNGINA!!"

Surprisingly, the next moment, the Heelnavi disappeared from where he once laid down, evading the AquaNeedle. The Heelnavi appeared just a few feet forward from where he was and spreadeagled upside down in midair.

"That wasn't too nice "

TennisMan's next move was to go for the defense and fire his ZapRing to possibly stun the navi, but it didn't go so well when the Heel navi was able to deflect his attack straight back, negating both the attack and the barrier at the same time.

"Oohh, Fate! I love you so! For sending me this exquisite Navi!"

MANIAC Heel Navi: 387

Tennisman: 190 [BARRIER: 0 HP]
Deuce (SP): 60

Terrain: 33% Normal, 66% Sand
Tennisman dropped down to a near crouch in front of the sand, casually placing Deuce's face near the border of normal panels. He was tempted to slap another patch of sand into the Heelnavi's face with a small gust, but he didn't want to repeat himself so he opted for something slightly different.

"Panelshot." Tennisman said.

In one quick motion, Tennisman drove Deuce into the sand panel and lifted him upwards, excavating an entire block of sand from the ground. Tiny streams of silt leaked out from the large cube back into the hole it came from. Tennisman immediately retracted Deuce from the ground and smashed the block, sending the mass of desert terrain at the Heelnavi with all the force of his backhand stroke.

"Well, I suppose now I can add 'shovel' to my past work experience." Deuce mused.

He had had enough of the sand. It was time for another change of scenery. Deuce was once again stabbed back into the hole while streams of data poured in like a fountain. The sand gave way to a new verdant explosion that engulfed the wasteland in a pleasant field in a matter of seconds.

"Time to spice it up!" Desmond said.

Tennisman nodded and swung Deuce with a twist, creating a vacuum draft to draw the Heelnavi closer to him. The calm grass shuddered violently before releasing a large cloud of spores into the air. Amidst the haze of poisonous fumes, Tennisman could still make out the figure of the Heelnavi close by.

"Elecpulse." Tennisman said, raising his open palm directly ahead.

Waves of electricity poured out in a rippling beam, distorting the hazy air even further. As he continued to spray the area with the powerful magnetic pulses, he wondered if it would even have an effect on the Heelnavi, given how disturbed he already was.

"How is he flying?" Deuce asked.

"I dunno, Airshoes?" Desmond replied.

Deuce answered back, "Airshoes don't work like that, nor do Floatshoes... Together they might, but that's just odd."

Tennisman was curious now, "What are you implying?"

"...It's probably nothing." Deuce answered.

"Whatever. Guard up!" Desmond said and quickly slotted in another chip.

1 - Panelshot Heelnavi (60 damage + blindness + 5% missing) + untapped power (15 damage)
2 - Court Change (large grass terrain)

3 - Spice1 Heelnavi (80 + confusion on grass)
4 - Elecpulse Heelnavi (100 damage + glitch)

"FLY FLY FLY, YLF!"

Straightening it self into a superman pose, the Heelnavi proceeded to zip towards TennisMan. Speeding in a break-neck speed, the Heelnavi dodged the Panel shot and flew through the spores. However, his speed couldn't dodge the electricity and could perform a break and slam straight into the Guard.

Due to the effect of the ElecPulse, the Heelnavi started to act even stranger than before. If that was even possible.

"Ahem...

Flight is a phenomenon that has long been a part of the natural world. Birds fly not only by flapping their wings, but by gliding with their wings outstretched for long distances. Smoke, which is composed of tiny particles, can rise thousands of feet into the air. Both these types of flight are possible because of the principles of physical science. Likewise, man-made aircraft rely on these principles to overcome the force of gravity and achieve flight.

Lighter-than-air craft, such as the hot air balloon, work on a buoyancy principle. They float on air much like rafts float on water. The density of a raft is less than that of water, so it floats. Although the density of water is constant, the density of air decreases with altitude. The density of hot air inside a balloon is less than that of the air at sea level, so the balloon rises. It will continue to rise until the air outside of the balloon is of the same density as the air inside. Smoke particles rise on a plume of hot air being generated by a fire. When the air cools, the particles fall back to Earth.

...YEA!"

Turning towards TennisMan after his speech, the Heelnavi had a crazed look in his face and went on the offensive!

MANIAC HeelNavi: 227 [Glitched] [ATTACKING!]

Tennisman: 190
Deuce (SP): 60

Terrain: 29% Sand, 66% Grass, 5% Missing
"YOU DIDN'T ATTACK!" Desmond shouted, "WHY DIDN'T YOU ATTACK? HE WAS STANDING THERE FOR LIKE A MINUTE GIVING A SPEECH!"

Tennisman had no reply to give except, "He was oddly compelling to listen to."

Desmond's next words were just as loud as his complaints but were in an entirely different tone of voice, "WATCH OUT!"

The Heelnavi was charging and Tennisman barely had any time to react at all. He called out "Moonblade!" and performed a counter-intuitive dash towards his would-be assailant. Tennisman attempted to slip away to the side at the last second and felt the blade form in his hand. He struck.

"Ringlog! Firehit!" Deuce called out, mimicking Tennisman's voice.

Desmond didn't realize it was an impersonation and sent the chips, instinctively responding to what he assumed to be his navi's request. Tennisman was confused and wasn't sure what to do with the odd combination of chips as neither seemed appropriate for the battle.

Deuce gave reassured his partner, "Trust me! Summon the Ringlog vertically."

Tennisman wasn't sure about any plan that wasn't his own, but he trusted his support program. Enough to risk his life and he did as he was told. Activating the chip data, a thick cylindrical frame materialized in front of him. The wires that outlined the object were quickly covered with a rough, brown bark that wrapped around its body until it took on the form of a wooden stump. It landed with a heavy thump at his feet, crushing a small patch of grass below.

"Send me the Firehit." Deuce finished, "And serve the Ringlog with everything you have!"

Tennisman nodded and pulled back his racket, holding it with two hands. The chip data streamed through the PET, through the internet connection, into Tennisman, down his arms before finally channelling into Deuce. The face of the racket ignited with a fiery aura as Deuce charged up a powerful gust. The wind only served to feed the fire, swirling behind him in a veritable cape of flickering embers.

"He's coming around for another pass! Serve!" Deuce warned.

Tennisman held his form and charged up the chip's power further. His own energy augmenting the attack beyond its parameters. His arm began to shake from the stress.

"ATTACK!" Deuce shouted.

Tennisman struck the log hard; harder than he had ever struck anything. The culmination of the serve technique, the Firehit, Deuce's gust and his own untapped potential all concentrated on the side of the log set it ablaze flying into the Heelnavi's face in an instant. It hurtled through the air faster than his own tennis balls and considering the mass of the wooden block , was fairly amazing.

Tennisman felt spent after the attack but couldn't drop his guard. He swung his arm to loosen it and charged in after the burning Ringlog with Deuce at his side.

"Katana." Tennisman said, a little short of breath.

The edge on Deuce's face sharpened to a fine blade as Tennisman ran. He hoped this would be enough to end it, making a wide slash and fluidly flowing into a diving slab.

In a flash, TennisMan's Moonblade made full contact on the attacking Heelnavi. While he was setting up his next attack with the Ringlog, the Heelnavi started to dash madly towards Tennisman, jumped, and started to spin vertically faster and faster and resembled something like a purple saw.

"HISATSU! ROLLING ADRIAN SAWTOP!"

The "saw" cut straight through the ringlog in half and through TennisMan and his barrier. It kept on spinning and spinning and tried to attack again. The navi prepared his Katana and laid a powerful slash to break the saw attack, but the second slash missed. Now running low on energy, the heelnavi stopped his attack all at once and let out a big sigh.

"BIG SIGN, I guess I can't take you down...I maybe crazy, but that doesn't mean I know when I should step down~"

In a blink of an eye, the Heelnavi EJO'd from the area, dropping a small MD on the ground for TennisMan.

After a short period of silence Desmond spoke, "That was messed up."

"I concur," Deuce said, "Quite the distraction."

Tennisman wasn't as ready as his compatriots to dismiss the battle as trivial. He found himself lacking when fighting unpredictable opponents. It was a weakness that he was keen to rid himself of and he felt the battle was a good step in that firection. Scratching the bandage on his nose, Tennisman shook Deuce and disengaged the Katana data. The battle was over and he wanted to seek out his next challenge.

((Battle 6))
TennisMan didn't travel too far before facing his new challenge. It was a strange mix of alien like viruses, flying viruses with a deadly saw, and...a Big hat. Strangely, it looked as if they were waiting for TennisMan's arrival and they were well organized as a group. One of the N.O. pulled out a strange button device and clicked it, causing the panels around TennisMan to crack and crumble.

"What are those little white guys?" asked Desmond.

"N.O.s" Deuce replied. His tone seemed a little more serious than usual, "They fire penetrating beams. We should aim to delete them first."

Tennisman wasn't nearly as familiar with these new virus types as his racket was but Deuce seemed to know what he was talking about. In fact, the racket had already erected a barrier to prepare himself before Tennisman had initiated the weapon junction; almost as if Deuce was afraid. He wasted no time in nodding and modifying his grip on Deuce. These viruses moved in specific patterns and were much easier to track than his previous opponent, but he wasn't willing to drop his guard.

"Yo!" interrupted Desmond, "Why don't you just use Countbomb? It'd take down alla' them if it goes off, right?"

"It has not proven nearly fast enough." Tennisman replied, his eyes still monitoring the viruses.

"No problem! Smoke it up! Make it hard to hit!" Desmond added.

Tennisman was reluctant to agree but it would be easier to execute the plan rather than argue with his operator. In all likelihood, he wasn't going to use the Countbomb or a Minibomb without Desmond's insistence so it wouldn't pose a problem.

"Minibomb and Countbomb." Tennisman said.

Tennisman could feel the Minibomb data flow into his palm before he had even finished the sentence. Desmond had already prepared the chips regardless of his response. Tennisman chucked the small explosive downwards and ahead of himself as not to get caught in the blast. A large cloud of smoke burst out from the point of impact, surrounding himself in an obscuring cloak. It wouldn't last for the full duration of the countdown but it was worth a shot. He activated the Countbomb, and felt it drop of the field. He couldn't see it but the first ominous beep alerted everyone to its exitence.

"TwinFang." Tennisman said.

The haze was still obscuring his view but the small white bodies of the N.O.s were relatively easy to spot. Tennisman raised his buster and fired a pair of ivory spires that ripped through his smoke cover, two spiraling patterns trailing behind them. He needed a better vantage point for his next attack and dashed out of the smoke, strafing the group sideways. If Deuce was right, then the N.O.s and Yorts both attacked in straight lines. As long as he kept a good eye on them and continued to sidestep them, he assumed he'd be safe. Mid-run, he tossed a handful of tennis balls into the air ahead of himself and served them at the same two N.O.s he had aimed for before. He could feel a panel shatter beneath his step but he wasn't planning on staying still for it to crumble.
