ACDC Start! - The Battle of Fifteen NETs

With the element of surprise, Drago and his girls pounced swiftly on the viral presence in the region. The two old heaters stopped roasting the statue ineffectively and began to turn around as the sound of incoming foes, but Drago was far quicker, drowning both of them in a deluge that washed over the statue as well. It probably just cooled it down again, most likely.

As the opening blows were exchanged, the swordy turned its mount, then looked up to discover that its foes were a long away above the ground. It dropped the reins and disappeared in a moment, appearing in front of where it last saw Drago and swinging its blade mid-air. Unfortunately, Drago was no longer there, and it missed completely before dropping back to land beside the teddy with a disgruntled sound. The teddy had reached over to grab one of the park benches and hurled it upwards, seemingly aiming for one of the twins, but it hadn't seemed to decide clearly before letting go and the bench flew through the gap between them.

This was all the viruses had time for as the trio executed the next stages of their attack pattern, not letting up or giving the remaining foes a breather. The girls unleashed a pair of cannon blasts towards the teddy, while Drago send a spreading blast of electricity into the smoke cloud a moment later as well. By the time the smoke cleared, there were no more hostiles on the field. It was hard to tell, exactly, who could rightfully claim the killing blows, but the viruses were certainly gone. With no more foes to contend with right away, it would be perfectly prudent if Drago decided not to blind everyone after all.

Moving right along, the trio gathered their spoils and continued their sweep of ACDC's darker regions. The area they were flying over at the moment looked like it had once been planned as some sort of relaxing nature trail, but had long since been forgotten; A path wound this way and that through green zones, with the occasional tree, but the ground had gone to cracked patches in many places, and in a few was missing entirely.

There were also, as one might suspect, an assortment of viruses kicking around the place, most of which took notice of drago and the girls as their shadows approached from above. A single vaguely out-of-place Cacty wobbled back and forth as it twisted to look up at them. It was standing in a small retaining ring, like many of the trees were and seemed to have been doing a poor impersonation of one for some reason. The tree that had originally been in its ring was, of course, gone. Elsewhere, a little further along the main path, a small tank scuttled around, lazily tearing up the path and carelessly going off it at each bend, further damaging the grass. When it reached the end of its loop and turned, it spied DragonierMan above and brought its weapons to bear more obviously. Not far from it, a pair of bollards lining the path hummed to life and lifted muzzles, revealing themselves to be cannon viruses instead. Lastly, the sounds of activity spooked an errant PulseBat out of one of the other trees, which immediately began to fly in a small circle, getting its bearings, before deciding to blame Drago and the girls for its rude awakening.

There was one final feature of note to this scene: on a short path to the side of where the two cannons were preparing to fire, were the ruined remains of what looked like a small amenities block. In itself this was unremarkable, but behind one of the collapsed sections of wall there was a tell-tale blue glow shining.

Cacty2Cacty2 (Cacty)

When a Cacty virus attacks, it creates two damage zones: the body and the head. Touching either the body or the head will cause damage to the player, but only the head is used as an actual attack. Cacty virus bodies are 50% resistant to all forms of damage except Fire. There is no defense piercing that bypasses this effect except the Fire Element. This effect applies only to the body of the virus, as the head of the virus sustains full damage as normal.

-=Rogue Battle 2, Start!=-
As they continued their flight through the ACDC Rogue Net skies, they noticed another collection of ne'er-do-well viruses. This time they would fight a cactus, a bat, a tank, and two cannon turrets. Quite the collection of viruses. The three navis quickly discussed what to do before they got into range. And they decided to do what they did in the last battle.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

DragonierMan, Suzume, and Aya rushed towards battle in a 'Flying-V' with Drago in the front and Suzume and Aya forming up behind and to the sides. Gray scales formed over Drago's body as a barrier honeycombed around him. He was in the lead position and would take the brunt of the first volley. The 'Flying-V' weaved from side to side as it approached. It even did an 'aileron roll' as it snaked its way through the sky. The three navis in perfect sync as they rolled from one side of the flight path to the other.

But as they came into their weapons' range they broke formation. Suzume and Aya broke off to either side and circled around the battlefield, while Drago charged through the middle. His body began to blur and his wings beat quicker. The joints in his armor spewed forth steam as he rocketed through the viruses' airspace. Targeting lights lit up the ground as the twins prepped their shots, sweeping over the enemy formations. Drago's body lit up in flames as he flew. His burning wings spreading wide as the embers licked the darkness. So sure was Drago in his eyes, even while traveling at high speed, that he took the first shot. A great bird of fire formed from the flames of his body and dropped down upon the viruses. The Cacty2 tempted its burning hunger as the plant sat deliciously on its grassy pedestal. So much kindling. If the CannonDumb2s were close enough when the phoenix plowed into the ground, burning everything in its path, they would probably catch the tail-end of the broad sweeping flames and get cooked a little. However, they weren't situated on so much lush and fertile grass that they would burn as brightly as the cactus, so they would survive regardless of the daunting inferno that was trying its best to envelop their friend.

But if they survived the flames, then they probably wouldn't survive what happened next, as the twins unleashed explosive tank shells upon them. Two great kabooms sounded as Suzume and Aya rained heavy ordinance down upon the immobile turrets. They tried to aim their blasts so as not to damage the ruins and the BMD, as that would rob them of precious treasure. So the shells weren't landed directly upon the cannons, but just centered far enough to encompass them in the explosions' radius. If they caught any other viruses in the explosion, then that was a bonus.

The three then evaded return fire as best as they could. They dodged and weaved through the air as they flew. Drago was flying circles around the enemy as he lined up his next shot. With a thrust of his gauntlet, he sent a giant rock fist crashing down upon the cannon turrets again. The ground would break and crack beneath the weight of the meteoric fist, so strong was its impact. If the Cacty2 was still alive, he would try to get part of the giant rocky fist to crush the dancing plant as well, but his primary concern was the cannons, and to not hit the ruins with the BMD.

Finally he took to the sky in another evasive push to get high above. They had ignored the bat and tank so far, probably to their detriment. But if they had managed to delete a few of the enemy by this point they would be in good position to push the battle to its conclusion soon. To help in that push, Drago prepped to launch his blinding sphere to the sky. If anything remained after their attack run, then he would send the orb skyward and blind everything below the cloud-line, including himself and his SPs.

B, and the Cacty2Cacty2 (Cacty)

When a Cacty virus attacks, it creates two damage zones: the body and the head. Touching either the body or the head will cause damage to the player, but only the head is used as an actual attack. Cacty virus bodies are 50% resistant to all forms of damage except Fire. There is no defense piercing that bypasses this effect except the Fire Element. This effect applies only to the body of the virus, as the head of the virus sustains full damage as normal.

Spying some new targets amongst the dilapidated green strip, Drago and his girls began to position themselves for a proper assault, lining up and preparing good formation. While they did, the awakened PulseBat that was sharing the skies with them shrieked at Drago in discontent, but it didn't appear to have any affect on the dragonier as the sound waves dissipated in the open air. The two cannon down below had slightly better luck with their own tactics, drawing a pair of red-lit laser sights onto Drago and tracking with him as he moved to line up is own attacks.

This was all the time they had, however, as he released a veritable flame bath on the greenery below. The Cacty it was aimed primarily at attempted to launch its head segment up towards him, but the blazing fire bird roared through, incinerating the projectile and consuming the rest of the cactus as well for good measure. The flames weren't quite near enough to take care of the cannons as well, but Aya and Suzume were already on task for dealing with the fixed installations. Their twin tank shots detonated with a unified explosion that threw up dust and smoke everywhere, and there was little doubt that they'd done some damage. When the smoke cleared, however, it looked as though one of the two turrets was still functional — just barely. It was brutally damaged, the housing blasted and twisted, but the muzzle itself was still tracking Drago's movements even as small sparks escaped from various points on the virus.

The tank, further off, turned a broad, lazy curve as it began to head back towards the fight, launching a wide spread shell into the air as it did. the round exploded ,sending loose shrapnel raining down everywhere, but neither Drago or his girls were particularly affected by it; the blast had covered most of their area, but it just wasn't precise enough to actually harm them. The PulseBat wasn't too fond of the concussive force, however, and swiftly flew down to duck beneath the tree line, out of sight for the moment.

Without needing to pay any extra attention to the slowly moving tank below, Drago instead cleaned up the damaged turret with a very large, very over-killing fist. There really wasn't much left, and even the ground around the impact zone cracked badly. The tank tried again as it approached, aiming a smaller, more localised blast shell at Drago specifically, but this too detonated without reaching him. It really seemed like this group had been caught somewhat unawares... none of them were having any luck aiming their attacks while Drago and the twins picked them apart. Just to add insult to injury, Drago proceeded to further blind the remaining foes, as well as his own team.

With the enemy blinded for a Turn, DragonierMan, Suzume, and Aya went on a full offensive. They flapped their wings and zoomed toward the viruses. Suzume and Aya flew towards the evasive PulseBat2 while Drago headed straight for the Beetank2. As they moved to engage their opponents they activated their signature abilities, healing their non-existent wounds and clearing their visions for the slaughter to come. Drago flexed his fists as they comically enlarged into great big mitts. Suzume and Aya unsheathed great, wide, shining swords.

When they struck it was like a hammer blow. Drago thrust his fist out like a piston as he punched straight at the tank virus. The force of the blow sent a wave of energy sailing from his fist, scattering dust through the air, and pushing at the tank with an unseen force. The twins danced around the shrieking bat, slashing at it with sharp blades. Suzume came down upon the bat from above with an overhanded swing. As she winged away on the follow-through, Aya came up from below and behind the bat, thrusting her sword towards the spot between the bat's wings. She continued to accelerate upwards, dragging the blade up in the direction of the spinal cord and through the back of its head. Trying to split the virus in two from the middle.

Drago followed up with another straight punch to the tank's gut. The debris on the ground scattering to the force of an unseen wind. He roared as he thumped and banged at the tank like a madman on a brick wall. Though unlike most madmen, the strength of his blows could shatter walls. Suzume and Aya continued to chase the bat as it moved, slashing at the creature with every flap of a pair of wings. The three flying up and down and side to side. A flurry of motion. The girls continued to hack away at the virus like a farmer harvesting crops, as it tried to fight back with its sonic scream. Morbidly in a way, the twins were harvesting it for treasure.

Drago chased after the tank and threw it one more punch before the power in his hands dissipated. Like a snake shedding its skin, the extra large mitts broke away and fell to the ground in a clump of shards, leaving just his normal hands. He then dashed really hard at the tank, forming a mach cone as he smashed through area. He then kicked off the ground as he passed and took to the air. He flew just as hard as he could run at the flapping bat, sailing through the air like a missile. As he ended his reckless charge, and the energy dissipated around him once more, he turned to survey the battlefield below. If anything was left he would point his right hand at it and give it a thorough blasting. With a boom and crack, the energy bolt sailed from his hand with incredible accuracy toward its target. And the air rippled around it as the shell spun down upon its victim like a lightning bolt shot by a vengeful god.

With their vision impaired, the remaining viruses seemed tor each the conclusion that the best thing they could do was aim for the biggest target they could see. In this case, it was Drago, but their revised tactics didn't last very long. The tank was rumbling forward to take another shot, and Drago met it full force before it could even get an attempt off; his crushing fists flattened the virus flawlessly and ended its efforts.

The Pulsebat had winged up above the trees again to send another blast Drago's way, and for a chance it seemed to narrow in on him even though its own hindered sight and the dragonier's evasive movement; this was all for nothing, of cours,e as the sonic blast slid off his energy barrier without doing any harm. The twins came in shortly after, swinging and slicing. Aya scored the first blow, but Suzume's strike a second later hit only air as the last virus desperately dived back below the trees. Not content with this inequality, she followed, blade in hand, and the sound of a second slice connected drifted up to the other two shortly after. Suzume emerged from the trees and returned to the open air victorious after a second or two.

Another set of viruses neatly cleaned up, and another set of rewards for the trio to claim; these nets had seemed a bit challenging last time they had been here, but now they were breezing through without trouble. Another mystery data had been preserved and rescued this time as well, provided they took the time to dig it out of the ruined structure below while they were gathering their other spoils.

After they'd collected their assorted treasures, Drago and the girls continued on, looking for more sources of currency and treasure. There was probably something to be said about making the net safer or deleting destructive elements, perhaps, but really, the trio knew it was actually all about the loot. More loot, in the form of more viruses, weren't ever very far away in the rogue nets, and in this case, the three flew over a square that looked like it might once have been a play area. It contained a bunch of climbing equipment and other amusements, all utterly dilapidated and broken, and it was probably a safe bet that the small square had been a part of the part they had been flying over at one point.

Now, rather than young or playful navis, the run down play equipment was the stomping ground of a pair of mean-looking spikeys that were snarling as they chased a bunny around the broken rides. the bunny was easily too nimble for them, and might have been teasing the two for its own amusement, rather than being in any danger of getting caught. To one side, a trio of ranged metools were shooting their projectiles at the side of one of the old climbing frames, making the the existing rusted hole sin it larger and larger with each shot.

The approaching shadows of Drago and his girls made the mets turn their attention skyward and prepare to fire on him instead, while the bunny hopped quickly to the top-most point of one climbing frame, ears crackling. The spikeys, having lost sight of their quarry for the moment, turned and looked around, then started barking up at Drago as well; they were, apparently, quite easily distracted.

-=Rogue Three, Start!=-

DragonierMan, Suzume, and Aya flew towards their foes. Drago formed his armor and force field and dove upon them like a hawk while the girls circled to get a good shot on the NeoMets. This was the first time they had encountered Mets that had guns. Usually, they would possess pickaxes. So now that they had a reliable range weapon, they had to go.

The girls spun through the air as they came on, splitting up to circle around to the east and west to break up the viruses' concentration of attacks. They both painted the NeoMets in targeting lights, a swirl of color and shadows surrounding them. Energy built up in their bodies quickly, which they shunted to their hands to form their projectiles. Drago, meanwhile, had dropped down upon the enemy ranks and made a beeline towards the Spikies. He held out his arms and formed a giant pot between them. His hands gripped the ceramic vessel as it began to squirm in his grasp. As he passed by he dropped the pot upon the viruses like a bomb.

It shattered and released the great Leviathan. The powerful aquatic dragon released a feral roar as water began raining down upon the battlefield. It slithered forward with great speed, splashing its fins in the river that formed around and trailed behind it, as it swept forward to devour the Spikies, and anyone else that got within its way. The twins added to the chaos by releasing a pair of explosive shells down upon the Mets. Their bombardment destroying the surrounding land and equipment. Perhaps after they wiped out the dilapidated playground along with the viruses, they could find a buyer for the land. Though it was doubtful that anyone would want to buy in an unstable Rogue Network. Probably better to just wipe everything in Rogue Net clean. Scorching, or in this case, flooding, the earth so nothing else would grow there again.

After their attack, the girls began evading counter-fire. They flapped their wings as they dodged from side to side, up and down, round and round. Meanwhile, Drago had turned around and rushed the Spikies and whatever else was sort of in his path. Another mach cone formed in front of him, pulsing with energy, as he plowed from one end of the battlefield to the other. He tried to steer himself by opening one wing after the other to turn like a sailing ship, but he only had so much time. He tried to aim himself towards the group of NeoMets after smashing through the Spikies. The group was big enough that he could probably hit something.

He then tried to reorient himself in the middle of the virus horde and then spun like a tornado. He lashed out with many small blades, kicking up the debris from the dilapidated playground. All the loose and rusted metal parts whipped around him like knives as he slashed at any virus that was close. The more nearby, the harder it would be to accurately strike with enough sharp daggers to inflict heavy wounds. At the end, a blast of light shocked the system of anyone in the battle, and broke up the tornado of dangerous cutlery. The pieces of debri raining down upon the battlefield.

With their new targets taking note and bristling with ranged capabilities, Drago and the girls took their first initiative to position and be wary of the opening volley before beginning their attack run. quick as they were, the two Spikies were fast too, and a pair of flaming projectiles streaked up towards them. The girls split off to the sides , but the first bolt of fire came faster than expected, catching crashing against Drago's energy field with a flare of flames. He winged easily around the second one that followed, then retaliated with his terrain-altering dragon attack.

One of the Spikies was extinguished with a yelp, though the second managed to dash away from the water dragon's hungry maw. Unsatisfied, it made a pass at the bunny, but it remained safe on its climbing frame perch, and then at the collection of metools. Two of them were drowned before they could react, but the third one ducked under its helmet as the waters raged around it. the bunny taunted Drago for a moment, from its position of safety, then with a mischievous gleam in its eyes, looked at the fresh setting of water just by where the dragonier's form hovered. It launched a stunning ring of energy, but Drago was wise to its tricks, and deftly avoided the sneaky attack.

From above, Aya and Suzume had just lined up to bombard the mets below, and fired their shells, but the blast-waves reverberated off the remaining met's helmet, and a sudden pulse of recoil energy came back, striking both girls and sending them tumbling end over end away into the sky. It didn't hurt, exactly, but it did manage to fling them both a long way away for now.

Down below, Drago was mixing it up with the remaining foes, dashing across the field to strike the Spikey that had escaped his water dragon, and punish the bunny that had attacked him before. He also kind of obliterated much of the remaining play equipment in a shower of broken and jagged metal parts, until his rapidly racing form belted into the hiding metool on the other side. As with the twins, a pulse of energy lanced back at him, hurling him bodily away from the tiny target, though unlike the girls Drago was very quick to right himself and feint back into striking range. So quick was his response that the Spikey's next fire bolt, precise though it was, only managed to catch the air where he had been moments before.

Unfortunately, as much as Drago was concerned with getting back into position to strike down the remaining threats, this didn't leave him quite enough dodge space as the remaining met popped up suddenly and fired a bullet at his back. Better fortune was the fact that Drago had a solidly protective casing to catch the errant shot and save him the damage it might otherwise have caused. A moment late,r the spinning maelstrom of sharp edges and broken metal scoured the last Spikey to the point where it was barely able to stand. It yelped and whimpered, flailing in the water as it began trying to limp away. The bunny wasn't even that fortunate, being swiftly removed from the net by a particularly unfortunate lance of jagged metal. The blinder went off just as the storm died down, setting spots before everyone's vision.

With the enemy blinded for a Turn, and scattering to the hills, DragonierMan, Suzume, and Aya went on clean up duty. They flapped their wings and flew to the remaining two viruses. Suzume and Aya headed off towards the NeoMet holdout, having been thrown far away by the force of the blow, while Drago headed straight for the fleeing Spikey. The three cleared their visions with their healing signatures as they approached, so they could see when they attacked. Drago flexed his fingers, as for a second time this season, they grew into great ham-fists. Suzume and Aya both unsheathed their shining swords for a second act. Again, why not do repeat what worked in a previous fight?

They struck quickly. Drago thrust his fist out like a piston and punched straight and true. The force of the blow sent a kinetic wave sailing from his fist, scattering the debris around him. The twins, having returned from the distance thrown, danced around the Met, slashing at it with their sharp swords. They carved at its body when they could get at it, and held back when it withdrew. They would try not be thrown off again.

Drago chased the Spikey as it ran, following up his previous strike with another punch to the Spikey's gut. He roared as he gave chase like a madman hunting down a dog. If he managed to defeat the Spikey, he instead ran back towards the Met to give it a strike from his overpowered gauntlets. Even hiding, the powerful punches of Drago could crush through its defenses, and deliver a devastating blow to the Met. Suzume and Aya continued to swing their swords at the NeoMet, slashing at the creature with every flap of a pair of wings. However, they kept holding back if they thought that the enemy would withdraw into its shell.

Drago chased after the Spikey/NeoMet and threw it one more punch before the power in his hands dissipated. Like a snake shedding its skin, the extra large mitts broke away and fell to the ground in a clump of shards, leaving just his normal hands. He shook his hands out afterward. They would be sore after crushing viruses.

Most of the enemy had been routed with the earlier barrage of attacks from DragonierMan's posse, and so it was time for cleanup. Purging themselves of their afflictions, they split off to attack both of the remaining viruses, with DragonierMan pursuing the fleeing Spikey, and his entourage darting towards the gun-toting Metool. While DragonierMan smashed the fleeing canine virus with his oversized fist, the tagteam of Suzume and Aya dissected the remaining Metool with twin slashes, causing it to slide apart in three pieces before disintegrating into data fragments.

The three navis collected the spoils of their latest successful hunt. They were three for three and feeling good about themselves. They had so much trouble before with the darker Rogue NET before, but they seemed to be holding their own here. Perhaps all their training and upgrading had paid off. They rose into the air to start going for victory number four.

It was then that they received a transmission. A window opened up showing their operator's face, Destin Obscura. By the five o'clock shadow, he hadn't shaved in a while. Probably working and studying all week while he left his PET on nearby. He was sporting a grin. "Good, looks like my plans for you three have been proceeding smoothly. However, we will have to cut this hunt short. Looks like your friend General Yasu needs you back at base. Head straight to the Shogun's meditation hall. Keep it on the hush-hush until after the meeting."

The twins looked to DragonierMan. Their expressions were both questioning, yet committal. He looked to Suzume, then to Aya, and nodded at each in turn. Then he looked back at the screen. "Understood. We'll make a direct flight." The screen closed, leaving them alone in the shadows. They floated there for a moment without expression as the wind howled around them. A million thoughts probably racing in their heads about what this could mean. Then Drago broke the silence. "Suzume, Aya... Let's go."

"Ok."
"Roger that."

With that he swept his hand in front of him and made a portal. The pale connection swirling in front of their faces, before the three flew through it. Closing behind them with a crackle.
