The Divine Quest

" 'Aim for the fire'... Nice thinking, Jake."

" It would have worked if you reacted quickly enough."

No it wouldn't have -- but of course Jake wouldn't admit that.

Scanning his Navi's surrounding's again, Jake noticed the head of the Cacty "magically" reappearing over its body, after Warrior had thrown it.

" ... Well that's handy."

" What is?"

" The Cactus Virus. Its head respawns a second or two after leaving the body, so that means..."

Time to test Warrior's wit, again. Jake intentionally left that statement unfinished -- and Warrior was quite familiar with the ending clause by now (this wasn't the first time he'd used it).

There were a few seconds of silence as Warrior tried to figure out what Jake was implying that he do. He'd kept his attention on the Cactus and the Bushes, incase any more flying objects came at him, until like a lightbulb, his face lit up with a wide grin and wide eyes as he deciphered the clue Jake had given him.

He raised his claw to attempt to grab the Cacty he was standing next to in the same manner as he had done before, so as not to get impaled by its thorns, as he announced his answer.

" Infinite-Ammunition."

Not literally, but figuratively. Warrior had planned on throwing the Cacty Head at each of the bushes in the area -- and since the Head would respawn over the body, he would simply wait for that to happen so he could immediately pluck the Head back off the Body and throw it at the next bush. It was like a bowling-ball dispenser, except that it didn't dispense bowling-balls. So it really wasn't like one at all.... but you get the point.

He'd repeat this attempt as many times as it took -- being careful not to get too anxious at each attempt to grab the head, and also being wary of any sudden movements the Cacty could make, as it respawned.

It was almost depressing not being able to make use of that log lying on the ground, but then again it'd be kind of stale to use the same log-swinging technique twice in a row, wouldn't it? On the other hand, maybe Megami was sooo impressed by the way Warrior used his Log earlier that she'd try to emulate it (assuming she had the strength to pick it up like he did). That'd actually be quite entertaining to watch...

But enough tangents.

If all went according to plan, Warrior trusted Megami to still have some good Chips prepared to finish off whatever would be forced out of the bushes.

"That was a good idea," Xenneth complimented, "It's just too bad it didn't work."

The estranged NetNavi had somewhat impressed Xenneth. Compared to Megami, he certainly had greater instincts in battle, as well as a different prowess about him that was absent from the angel. He was not composed nor reserved, but actually fierce and bold in his tactics. It was something that Xenneth should have probably taken note on from him and his Net Operator. After all, the violet haired student had not just started Net Battling, and so far, he was just remembering notes from a book.

"Let's help him," Xenneth had encouraged himself, lifting his right hand and presenting a set of Battle Chips, "Get ready, Megami-chan! I'm going to take point here." Xenneth had insisted; trying to make that useless feeling a fleeting thought. He pressed three chips into the P.E.T, preparing himself for a course of action.

"Recovery, HeatShot, and Cannon Battle chips in, download!" Xenneth cried, "Take 'em out, Megami!"

The angel had used the data in just that order. Her right hand lifting, presenting a light green, sparkling aura that whirled around in her hand like a beautiful mist. She had prepared herself to make use of the essence and recover...something. Her mind told her Xenneth intended for her to use it, but one glance at Warrior who was already dashing into the fray once more, and she knew she had to consider the bold NetNavi who was already making his move. A simple flick of her wrist made the aura vanish and covet Warrior. Better a best of energy than a cliché "Good luck" that was just simply words!

Megami had taken point, preparing herself for an attack seeing that the Bushes were few, and the Shrubby viruses were nothing but some cowering weed viruses. She had hung back, sitting from one point of the field as Megami had waited for the viruses to scamper around once more. Once Warrior had approached the bushes, she knew it was only a matter of time before they revealed themselves and made a predictable cowardly scene seeing they were not used to being in the open. The NetNavi was patient, her right hand forming the grid-like array of a cylindrical gun of a structure that was pointed towards one of the bushes that was away from Warrior's position.

"Forgive me," Megami asked towards the distant bush and whatever resided behind it, "But I am afraid I must relieve you of your sanctuary."

Megami fired afterwards; a ball of flame leaving the weapon and aiming to set the bush ablaze and anything that would reside behind it. The angelic NetNavi said nothing more as she lifted her weapon, re-aiming its course while its form changed. The lines expanded, reconnected, and soon it looked like a massive cannon rather than a small compressed canister. The angelic NetNavi waited for her chance to see one of the scampering Shrubby viruses to be leave from behind one of the bushes, or be exposed amongst some of the chaotic aftermath of Warrior's assault.

Staring and aiming at one virus in particular, she had fired hoping her timing and Warrior's was just right, that she could hit the virus as it tried to make a daring escape when he would try to destroy its ground.

Megami healed Warrior as he plucked the Cacty's head off a total of three times and threw it each time at a different bush. Unfortunately only the first time actually hit, destroying one bush (such was the quickness of his shots that only the first one had time to be aimed well). However the Cacty then crumbled into data as its health was quickly depleted, leaving only the Shrubby viruses and their bushes, sans one bush. Also Warrior's claw breaks from use.

Megami then launched her own pair of attacks in rapid succession. The fireball launched first incinerated not only the bush, but the virus inside. Then she took aim at the fleeing Shrubby revealed by Warrior's attack, and pegged it just as it was running for a bush, deleting it.

The last two viruses launched their attacks at the non-dodging Navis. Both logs hit Megami's barrier, while only the first log hits Warrior, removing the health just recently healed by Megami.

Jake grinned at Xenneth's compliment -- though he was too caught up in the battle to make any other response.

The red, holographic-esque claw around Warrior's hand began to flicker (like a lightbulb going out) as he grabbed the Cacty head the second time. This caused him to pitch more quickly for the last two throws -- which was probably the reason he missed the mark on both of them. Just as he finished his third an final throw, the claw faded away and a Blank Chip popped out of Jake's PET.

" Alright... just a little more."

Jake slotted a single Chip into his PET -- seeming to ignore the fact that Warrior was being tackled by a giant log while he slot it in.

" Rest is up to you, Warrior. Use that chip how you see fit."

A Barrier or something would've been nice, but nooo, Jake was too avid for Damage-Output to have any Defensive Chips in his folder.

Luckily, Megami was the supportive type.

Warrior felt a rush of energy come over his body as he laid on the floor with the log on top of him, pinning him down. That Recovery10 had given him just enough strength to shove it off of his body and climb up to his knees.

" Thanks... I owe you one!"

" Just going my job."

" Not you, dic-- Shotgun Data is coming to you. Get up and finish off the bushes!"

Warrior rolled his eyes as blue data began to envelop the forearm that was previously occupied by a claw. Still in a kneeling position, Warrior placed his free-hand palm-down on the ground, causing it to glow for a second. The bright white glow began to slowly rise up from the ground around Warrior and arc around his entire body until it fully encased him inside of a powerful barrier.

The energy he had lost up to this point was slowly starting to return to him as well, as he raised the blue-data-enveloped hand at one of the remaining bushes.

The blue-data took the shape of a fair-sized Buster -- but it was semi-transparent, just like any other Battle Chip Weapon he equipped, so his fisted-hand was still visible inside of the weapon.

He'd be careful not to miss with this shot, now that he wasn't rushed with an expiring weapon like just before. A white ball slowly began to grow at the tip of the holographic Buster while it emitted a humming sound that grew at the same rate as the charging shot.

Without warning, the ball of energy shot off from the Weapon (causing the Buster to shatter under the pressure of the blast), traveling to its target so quickly that it looked more like a beam of light than it did a bullet -- aimed to pierce the bush and even travel a few yards pass it before the 'beam' grew thin and vanished.

"Thank, Xen-kun!" she said graciously to Warrior.

Megami could not take the credit for the Battle Chip choice; that was the other half of the team. Her half consisted of the moment there and now as she scanned the field seeing Warrior go back into battle against the viruses after pushing the log off him. Megami was unaffected by the attacks as the brimming aura pushed them right off with each tenacious stir. Honestly, the NetNavi had no idea why they kept trying to make contact. No matter what, the large, hard pieces of wood would not penetrate her protection. Coming out unscathed by the attack, Megami prepared herself to mount a counter attack as she had her eyes set on the obstacles around the field.

"I think," the tips of Megami's fingers had begun to glow with a bright, seeping mist that was like a flame, "Perhaps we should relieve them of any places to hide."

Xenneth could not agree any better, but a simple nod of his head and a muse of his pressed lips was enough for Megami to take the hint. With the Goddess-like NetNavi reeling back her arms, departing with the cannon-like weapon, she had taken a glance at the remaining obstacles on the field. With Warrior attacking the other barricade, that left the Goddess-like NetNavi to her own virus to tend to. She had taken note of its cowardly nature, so swinging back her left arm, she had formed the seeping vapor into a more concentrated and spherical-form like a flame.

"Divinity Barrage!"

The Goddess cried out making the tenacity in her voice make the small spheres of energy burst like a wildfire. She cast one forth as it flew in the direction towards the fallen log from earlier. Without so much as another thought, she had reeled back her arm right arm, continuing her assault as she cast forth another sphere of the essence aiming for the bush. Had it succeeded, she would surely expose the virus, and even Xenneth knew how to follow up when he considered its nature.

"Cannon! Battle Chip in, download!"

*CLICK!!!*

The sound of the Battle Chip slotting into the P.E.T. was just as quick as the barrel reforming itself upon Megami's right arm. She had lifted the heavy cannon, aiming towards the direction of the bush, the very same one the brimming aura was flying towards. Her eyes narrowed, brow furrowed as Megami focused her attention upon the ground. When she virus would show itself, she would pull the trigger of the cannon and let out the last burst of her cannon rounds to finish the job.

She coordinated her timing and pulled the trigger programming hoping it would not even have the chance to realize how screwed it was.

Warrior threw down a Solar field, making the surrounding lands glow a bright neon green. It took a moment for the system to recognize him as an Elec Navi, since it was not listed in his signature. But then he started healing from the glowing panels. Megami then took out a log with her magic.

Warrior put up a barrier just as Megami took out a bush. The two Shrubbies, one now exposed with no where to run, launched logs at the Navis. Two logs hit Megami, while only one hit Warrior. Megami's barrier absorbed the first blow, and she was struck by the second. Warrior absorbed the one blow with his barrier, then healed on the Solar.

Finally the two Navi launched attacks that destroyed the last remaining bush, and the two Shrubbies. Deleting all three in quick succession. The battlefield was cleared. Nothing remained... Except their rewards.

"These viruses are getting weirder!" the video screen's log was inaudible compared to Xenneth's voice as he appeared finally, "I'd hate to see anything worse than that if these are the weak viruses."

Megami had snatched the data and Xenneth was quick to download it. After all, they never knew what viruses were lurking and preparing to attack any moment. However, upon Xenneth opening the video window to chat, he had not realized that he revealed himself and for the first time...he shown himself to another person and their custom NetNavi on the net.

"Meep!" he squeaked just like a mouse in a suddenly flicked light, "I-I mean! H-hello!" he had stuttered

" Whew...."

Jake let out a sigh of relief now that it was finally over. He honestly didn't think Warrior was ready for that -- in fact, wasn't. Had Megami not been there, they would have been in very deep trouble.

Jake Slot-In his first Exhausted BattleChip to restore a Use to it. The image of a 'Cannon' Chip appeared on his PET Screen and began to re-imprint its data onto the Chip inserted. RageClaw and Shotgun would have to be refreshed as well -- it'd take about 30 full seconds to reload those Chips.

Meanwhile, gold coins came exploding out of the deleted viruses like fireworks, and Warrior wasted no time in scooping up his share. BattleChip Data took the swirling form of a small, bright green, rectangular clump of data that was about the size of a graham cracker. Warrior picked it up along with the rest of his winnings and allowed it to dissipate in his hands as he sent the Chip Data to Jake's PET.

After refreshing his Exhausted Chips, Jake inserted a Blank Chip into the PET to imprint the newly acquired Chip Data on. He grinned slightly as he noticed which Chip they had earned... It'd be interesting to see what crazy idea Warrior would come up with for this one.

"Meep!"

Jake's attention snapped to the bottom window of his PET (it was a multi-tasking device, so he could have multiple pages open at once, even though he could only view one at a time. The Battle-Chip screen was currently at the top of his browser at the time he heard the sound).

Warrior's eyes darted to the Video Window that had opened up next to Megami in response to the noise as well.

"I-I mean! H-hello!"

" Um... Hi."

Warrior paused for a second, trying not to make this as awkward of an introduction as he had with Megami. Since there'd be no handshaking involved, though, that'd be highly unlikely. His eyes went back to Megami, half-expecting her to do the introducing, and half-inclined to do it himself. After a second or two of silence, Warrior decided to give her the queue with a rhetorical question.

" ... So, Megami... is she your Net-Op?"

The long, soft-textured hair. The bright, fair skin. The heart-thing on his cheek. The pink speech-color... Warrior had totally mistaken Xenneth for a woman.

So much for not getting off to a bad start... He'd probably be wishing for that handshake again, momentarily.

-
This was awkward! This was sooooo awkward!

The moment Xenneth heard the use of pronoun, "she" instead of "he" his face burst in a vibrant show of red and his eyes became hidden by a saggy pile of violet hair as Xenneth's head drop in shame. This came to no end! No one had seemed to acknowledge or recognize that he was male! This landed him in so many unnecessary situations, such as an invitation to "Cheerleading Club" to an awkward indescribable moment that landed some girl's undergarments in his hands. He did not even remember anything between the first point to the last, but he knew it had to do with him helping someone try on a dress.

Megami looked to Warrior, dumbfounded, before finally turning looking to Xenneth's face on the display, to the right of the display, and then the left. Afterwards, she had turned her attention back to Warrior as she lifted her shoulders as if she was confused at the moment.

"She? As in a young woman or female? I know see not who you refer to!" Megami said before turning back around, smiling, as she pointed to the image of Xenneth, "However, this is my Net Operator, Xen-kun!"

Xenneth's shoulders tensed and he let out a whimper that would outdo any puppy's cry. His head still dropped, and his body shaky, he had not even paid attention to his own Battle Chips that had finished reloading their data. He was too ashamed to even fathom the feeling welling up inside him, the thought of someone once again mistaking him for a girl once more.

"T-thank you...Megami...chan," Xenneth spoke weakly as his eyes was still hidden by his lowering head, "C-can...can we just proceed deeper into the area? I'm sure that this moment right now should be forever forgotten."

"Uh...sure, Xen-kun. However, I fail to notice why. I am still unsure of this girl who is wi-"

"She left," Xenneth interrupted, "So...we should get going to."

This moment could not have gotten any worse; but Xenneth was not certain he would like to make a bet on that.

(( .... AHAHAA! That first paragraph xD ))

" Ooohhh..... [sub]Stereo-TYPO...[/sub]"

Well, needless to say... Warrior felt like quite a douche right now. And he knew he'd hear it from Jake any seco--

" Warrior!"

... right on queue.

" Apologize right now!"

Warrior's eyes shot to the floor (and a little to the side of Megami -- opposite from side where Xenneth's screen was at -- so that he wasn't really making eye contact with anybody) as he mumbled his apology.

" [sub]... Sorry.[/sub]"

His hands were crossed behind his back as he avoided eye-contact from the other two, like a child pouting that they were being disciplined. One could argue that he was apologizing for getting in trouble, rather than making Xen feel bad.

Jake shook his head at his Navi and let out a sigh. He knew it was an accident, but still. He'd have to teach him how to avoid making mistakes like that one, or at least make better recoveries.

" Just... ignore him, 'Xenkun'. He's-- Oh wait I forg-- er, I um..."

Jake interrupted himself as he realized he hadn't even introduced himself yet. And here he was, getting on to Warrior for being the rude one. He paused for a second, to stop himself from tripping over his words and to catch his breathe. Then non-chalantly resumed.

" I forgot to introduce myself, haha! I'm Jacob Rayner -- but you can just call me 'Jake'. But yeah, don't let Warrior get ya down like that. He's..."

Warrior lifted his head when he heard his name. He'd sort of been tuning everything out until now, when he realized he was being talked about. His eyes lit up with glee in eager expectation of what positive words his Net Op would use to describe him. He turned to Jake's screen and smiled, clearly getting ready to say 'thanks' the moment those uplifting words left his mouth.

" ... He's an idiot."

" ..."

Warrior's expression remained the same (almost as if he were frozen in shock), but he could feel his pride shattering like glass on the inside of his chest. And right in front of Megami too! How humiliating! He bit his tongue before rebutting the insult, though, and simply turned his attention back to Megami and Xenneth as he let Jake continue.

" So forget what he said. We won't judge you by your appearance, if that's what your afraid of -- and there's nothing wrong with the way you look, if that's what he made you think. Sooooo...."

Jake had a tendency to speak faster than he could think. And that habit usually prematurely ended his motivational speeches (which wasn't always a bad thing). There was about a full second of silence as his mind put together a quick conclusion to his ill-prepared and spur-of-the-moment encouragement. Hopefully it was just the thought that counted though -- and not the mediocre choice of words.

" ... Umm... chin-up! Annnnndd..... let's keep going!"

REQUESTING: BATTLE #3

-

The two Navis and their Operators were interrupted by the sounds of marching viruses. Twelve Metools, in two rows of six, marched up to the group. The front row crouched, becoming a line of helmets, while the back row used the front row as cover and brandished their pickaxes to throw over their wall at the Navis.

~Battle 3: Start!!~
-

Fate once again worked in Warrior's favor as a battalion of Metools interjected on the two navis during his moment of humiliation.

" Conversation's over! It's showtime!"

Warrior was pretty familiar with how these things went by now. As much as he wanted to stand still and attack, he knew that'd end up no differently than it had in the past -- most of his Attacks would miss, and the enemy would manage to land a few hits during in non-evasive state.

Not to mention he was in a pretty bad position anyway.

Leaving Megami to do her thing, Warrior broke out in a sprint to the right side of the Virus' Formation, then finished with a sort of dive-rolling maneuver, incase any of them decided to try and pop him during the approach. He'd summoned his barrier before he started the sprint -- but he'd moved quickly enough that it couldn't be noticed until he reached his new position.

Having ended up on the right side of the group, Warrior kept himself focused and ready to evade as he planned his next move. He also kept his eye on Megami, just in case he ended up in-range of some of her wider-ranged attacks.

----- ----- -----

Action 1: Valor (20-HP Barrier) (1TCD)

Action 2: Movement (Sprint to the Right of the Viruses)

Action 3: Dodge (Prepared to Evade)

-
Whether it was because of the sudden battalion's appearance on the field, or the shyness of him being judged by his appearance, Xenneth closed the video screen and prepared himself for battle.

Whether he was ready or not though, Jacob and Warrior had seemed to take the initiative leaving Xenneth to simply watch. The rows of Mettaurs had seemed to take a very interesting tactic, a front set guarding while another set was in the back, brandishing pickaxes with a glint on the edges that Xenneth could plainly see but not comprehend. He had read viruses could use unusual tactics, but for them to use their pickaxes and send a shockwave was nearly ridiculous at this point. Did they not care for their allies?

"I don't know what they're doing," Xenneth had chimed as he looked towards the formation on the display of his P.E.T., "But I really don't want to find out either!"

"Xen-kun," Megami cut in, "Shall we distract them from Warrior?" she asked only making the violet haired boy look at the screen puzzled. "It is quite alright. I can, as you would say 'take a beating' while Warrior attacks them. So, surely, a diversion is a great tactic to use at a moment!"

There was no use arguing with the angel with a good idea.

"Sure!" Xenneth said reaching to his side satchel and grabbing one of the Battle Chips that displayed an image of a curving object upon it, "I know just what to use too!"

Megami nodded her head and took that as a sign to carry out her plan. Her feet begun to emanate a strong pressure that blew the edges of her cloak up like a powerful gale. Slowly, a thin blanket of aura had risen from around her feet only inches away, looking like a gentle flame as it begun to build into what looked like an inferno. Slowly, the aura overtook Megami from head to toe until she stood within what seemed like a burning, vibrant rainbow flame that was nearly as see through as glass.

"Here I go!" Xenneth cried aloud, "Boomerang! Battlechip in, Download!"

With a shout, Xenneth had pressed the chip into the P.E.T as it sounded off with a CLICK! The large curved wooden object had appeared in a launcher with a handle as it formed in air by small square pixels of blue. The object took its definite color the moment Megami grabbed the handle and swung around holding it and gazing upon the viruses.

"If I try to aim for a single Mettaur in the front," she planned, "Maybe it will affect the trajectory and I can get the attention of the Mettaur in the back?"

It was worth a try...

Megami took aim; eyes narrowing, brow furrowing, and grip tightening on the handle; the angel's eyes were unparallel in aim and comparable to the scope mounted on a powerful piercing rifile's barrel. She cast back her right arm holding the handle and her balance unwavering as she could make out the glare that shone upon the helmet upon the Mettaur upon the first row. With one swing, the Boomerang swept forth, beating the air like the propeller blades of a helicopter and aiming to strike the first Mettaur and make its ricochet to aim for the Mettaur in the back in one foul swoop!

Chatty Ditz: Sorry, it's rather difficult to get on the Internet right now.
The two Navis activate barriers to defend themselves.

Warrior moves to the right of the viruses while Megami concentrates on the left most group. The viruses respond by shifting their lines slightly. The non-guarding Metool closest to Warrior ducks under its helmet.

Then the ones that were not guarding chuck their pickaxes over the wall at the Navis. Three head in Megami's direction, while two head towards Warrior. All three aimed at the immobile Megami strike her... barrier. The other two thrown at Warrior... also hit his barrier, though one almost misses him due to his evading stance. Megami's barrier was barely holding on while Warrior's broke. The Metools got a lucky opening salvo.

But It was short lived as Megami threw her own attack, a massive boomerang. It ricochet off the front Met and swept around the back row. Deleting all three of the back row.

That Barrier was either incredibly reliable, or just a magnet for enemy attacks.

But there was no time to debate about that -- Jake had already started slotting in chips before he'd even told Warrior the plan. Luckily, the navi was a little bit smarter than the boy gave him credit for.

" Warrior, take out the back row!"

Warrior grabbed his sword with his left hand and hurled it at the Mettool to his right. Most Navis came equipped with Busters, but Warrior would have to compensate for that. The sword struck -- if it struck at all -- with the handle-end first. Warrior didn't have the time to aim that attack, and it was only intended to knock the target on its back so that he'd have a clear shot with what followed. Conveniently, the sword reappeared at its place in Warrior's hand, after it had ended its throw.

" Shotgun -- on it's way."

The Chip Data was sent in seconds before Jake made the announcement, so by the time he'd told Warrior of what was coming, its effects had already begun to take place. Warrior's sword began to quickly disassemble and transform into what could best described as a "skeleton of a buster" that clung to his elbow and extended to the wrist that had previously been holding the weapon. It resembled the metal frame of a buster, but lacked any of the rounded plating.

Warrior took a second to aim -- but it required much less time out of him than it would most other navis, so he didn't have time to really check if his last action had been successful or not. Regardless of whether it was, though, he'd follow through with what he had planned next anyway.

" Cannon's coming next."

Warrior hadn't even fired off the first shot before Jake slotted in the next chip, but that was quite alright, as this feat would require a series of rapid blows so that the defenseless Mettools in the back wouldn't have time to tuck under their helmets before the shots connected.

The Shotgun-powered blast let off like a white streak in the air -- it resembled a thick white dart of energy with a long white tail. That dart-like tip was aimed at the Mettool to Warrior's right and would shatter into several smaller 'darts' (or more like 'needles') of light, once it hit whatever it hit, directed at the Mettool behind it.

A cloud of smoke hindered Warrior's perception of whether both Mettools were hit or not -- but regardless, he'd stick to the plan.

The makeshift 'buster' on his arm had encased itself with a thick, white glow as it charged up to fire the Cannon-Chip. And it didn't take long before it launched off Warrior's second blast into the same trajectory as the shot before, intended to blast away whatever was left standing in or behind the smokescreen that was slowly clearing away.

The Cannon's shot resembled large white orb that shot through the air, followed by two thin tails that spiraled around each other as the shot approached its target.

Success or Failure, Warrior's weapon transformed back into its natural state as he finished his assault, ready for retaliation against whatever came next.

A beating was being taken, but Megami's Barrier had seemed to be the one taking it.

It was her original plan, even though Xenneth was cringing at the sight of each Mettaur attack that collided with the aura. The essence that danced around the Goddess like NetNavi had wavered and flickered like a flame caught in a sudden cool breeze. Each strike had weakened it so slightly until it seemed like Megami was sparkling embers of golden light from a dying fire. Even if so, the NetNavi still dared to charge into the battle, attempting to get close to one of the Mettaur upon the field. Her eyes had caught Warrior on one side of the Mettaur line up, so she attempted be across from him to form a pincer attack.

"I can't break these defenses..." Megami said lowly as she closed in on one of the Mettaurs.

"O-oh! I know!" The ruffling sound of Xenneth's satchel faintly audible with his voice, "Rage Claw, Battle Chip in! Download!"

Megami charged in forth with her RageClaw in hand. A smile upon her face as she saw the formation as well as her weapon as she received an idea.

"We shall bowl, now!" Megami cried.

"Yea-yeah? W-wait...what?"

The faint image of Xenneth's studying in his mind. She remembered one of his lessons talking about history of certain sports in the world today. One sport came to mind as the dynamics changed from an outdated history of throwing balls into a multitude of targets known as "pins." She thought about the formation of Mettaurs and her weapon and thought the idea was perhaps clever. If "Cyber Bowling" was a sport that worked on the dynamics of rolling one target into many, than why not try the same in battle?

"W-wait, Megami-chan..." Xenneth gasped looking at her hand reeling back with the blue array that formed long beastly nails and the one Mettaur the Goddess-like figure had her eyes on, "You're not!"

With a focus that would take a hawk's eye and the determination of a crazed man with no life who was inches away from bowling a perfect game, Megami had swept her Rage claw forth as the tips of the nails glimmered with a pristine light at the point. Her fingers aiming to hook the Mettaur's helmet at the end before she would send it reeling forth in a bumbling roll down the line aiming to strike the next Mettaur viruses for a powerful (if not sportsman like) crash into the rest.

The sword thrown by Warrior clanged off the nearby guarding Metool's helmet as Megami moved to flank the two rows of Metools. Megami and Warrior took aim at their respective targets as Warrior let off a blast with his Shotgun. The still guarding Metool's helmet endured the blast, but the Metool behind it was not so lucky and was deleted by shrapnel. The Metools then came out under their helmets to fight, but the Navis were ready for them. Megami's claw struck one of the Metools and hurled it into another Metool for massive damage, while Warrior's Cannon shot past one Metool to deleted the one behind it. The Metools divided up into two groups and brandished their pickaxes, waving them around menacingly as they advanced.

"Alright, Warrior! Do your thing!"

The Metools had conveniently approached Warrior, saving himself the trouble of wasting energy on that action.

"Aqua-Knife, Battle Chip In! Download!"

Warrior's sword grew a shade darker toward the blue end of the spectrum as small, blue circles of data began to float around it like digital bubbles.

Normally, he'd summon his Barrier the second he had the opportunity -- but a greater opportunity was before him, one that he simply could not pass up.

*SLISH* *SLISH* ... *SLIIIINNG*

Bright blue after-images chased Warrior's sword as he swung it at the first Metool, then at the second, and then at the third. The speed of his movement hastened so that each cut was quicker than the one preceding. He made a quick hop toward the last Metool between his second and third slashes, but it was so fast that his movement was hardly noticeable until he'd already brought the blade down on his target. He'd intended to finish off his share of the enemies, and then look across the gap between he and Megami to see how she faired against her's. And obviously to enjoy the view.

"I-I...I can't believe that worked," Xenneth had said before shaking his head wildly, "I-I mean! We should finish this!"

The Mettaur viruses had shown themselves and seemed like they were ready to do battle. No more hiding? It was good for Megami! Even when separated from Warrior, she felt she could deal with the minor threat as long as she had Xenneth on her side. The violet haired boy had quickly taken advantage of the situation and slotted in a battlechip just for their formation.

"Since they are bunched together," his hand drew to the P.E.T. with a click as he pressed in the chip, "RollingLog Level One! Battle chip in, download!"

Megami had lifted her right hand into the air as a meter before her, there was a generating grid of lines. They had soon gained color, texture, and their cylindrical form slammed against the ground as a large log. Without delay, it start rolling forth like a speeding wheel with no breaks! A second one had even formed to follow the first as they both went tumbling forth towards the Mettaur viruses.

"I-I think we should take advantage of the situation as the textbooks said." Xenneth suggested, "So, FireBurn Level One! Battle Chip in, download!"

Megami lifted her right hand, aiming towards the right flank of the viruses that were before her. She taken aim, intending to trap them in another one of her guillotine strategies: The rolling logs on one side and the next was a inferno of flames sent forth as she let out a blast of heat from a grid that formed on her limb. It seemed to resemble some sort of pressurized flamethrower, and it even functioned like one as there was a blast of yellow and orange flames racing forth.

[Note: Take Aim's +1 to an A accuracy makes it A+ (and so forth to A++, A+++, etc.), not S.]

Warrior runs forward with his knife and strikes at the Metools. The first one deflects the attack with its own weapon, causing Warrior to flip over it and slash through its buddy behind it, deleting it. A pickaxe flies through the air and Warrior dodges it, running over to the last of the three Metools and deleting it with a slash through the face. However the first Metool manages to bury a pickaxe in Warrior's back. A chirping sound issues from the Metool as its victory at causing Warrior some damage.

Megami meanwhile was throwing logs and jets of fire at her foes. The Metools all throw their pickaxes in unison, striking her barrier with one and causing it to crumble before a second gets through and nicks her shoulder on the way past. Megami's attacks prove more deadly. The first log smashes MetoolA, but misses MetoolB. The second log deletes B. She retargets the fire and deletes both remaining Metools on her side, leaving only one alive. The one by Warrior... Who looks around at all its dying brethren, and then flees.
