The Divine Quest

Megami's moment of humility was spared thanks to an armada of viruses...

The quantity was much larger than what Megami was use to, and so was the varying types. The angelic NetNavi had seen the pickaxe wielding, hardhat wearing Mettaur viruses. However, the armored cannons were something certainly new to her memory, and quite honestly, it made Xenneth a bit weary of a frontal attack. The barrel of the weapons could have been considered as good as eyes that were staring, menacing with their very sight kept upon Megami.

However, that did not stop her new acquaintance...

"Oh my goodness!" Xenneth had cried in shock, "I never seen that Battle Chip used like that!"

"I agree," the angelic voice agreed, "That NetNavi is pounding those viruses with his long, heavy wood!"

...there was quietness.

Xenneth was sure there was something odd about that statement, but his innocence spared him from trying to figure out what that was. His hands were already moving to his side as he carefully reached for a single Battle Chip upon seeing the viruses in the distance that were on the right flank of the formation. Behind them, he can make out the spinning diamond that was in view, and with an insert of his Battle Chip into his P.E.T, it was hanging ready for a push to download the data.

"We should help him then." he exclaimed, "We might not have power like that, but we have something else! Shotgun! Battle Chip in, download!"

Experience prepared Megami for this part.

The moment Xenneth pressed the Battle Chip in, making a "CLICK", Megami had readied her body as she leapt into position in front of the two viruses on the right. The angel's left leg pulled back, right leg forth, adjacent arm held up, and the opposing resting upon the wrist where a blue array had formed into a grid with her palm clinching a small bulb of light. There was a rise of energy that rushed from the soles of her feet and raised skyward; brimming as if her body was seeping a very thick, yellowish hue of smoke that coveted her body with a rejecting force.

"Aim carefully," the violet-haired Net Operator coached, "Get 'em with one shot and careful of the Mystery Data!"

The boy was sounding more like an operator with each passing battle.

A simple fact, but also a thought in Megami's head, she smiled hearing Xenneth. Her nod was an assurance she heard him, and her narrowing eyes were her following orders. Her sight was as good as the barrel pointed at her from the Canodumb across from the terrain. The wood flying through the air like a makeshift hammer; an obstacle she took into consideration, as well as the hands that wielding it. With the small rounded virus and the machine aligned in her sight, Megami fired off a shot...

*KABOOM!*

[Please use virus names for targets in the future, instead of vague standing. And for the sake of sanity, I have added directional designations to the viruses in order to facilitate this battle mod. Also, Take Aim can only be applied to one attack, regardless of whether you may Double Attack with a battlechip.]

Warrior jumped to the "left" side of the six viruses as Megami raised her barrier.

Warrior then equipped a RollingLog1 and proceeded to bash at the "left" Metool and CannonDumb. He managed to delete the Metool, but misses the immobile CannonDumb. How? I don't know. Perhaps he forgot his follow-through. Then Megami jumps to the "right" side of the five viruses.

The CannonDumbs all swivel towards Megami and open fire. Two of the three strike true, shattering her barrier, but leaving her unharmed.

Then Warrior swings his log again at the two remaining Metools. He misses the middle one but strikes the one on the far right, deleting it. Again, I don't know how he does it. This scares the last remaining Metool to hide under its helmet just as Megami levels a Shotgun on the viruses. The blast passes through the air where a Metool once stood and strikes the CannonDumb on the "right" and deletes it.

Valiant he was when he was handling his wood, Megami could see that Warrior still had quite the ordeal of viruses to deal with.

Megami left nothing more than a smoldering column of cyber smoke that lifted skyward after her assault. She had given no attentions to that or the ashes, but rather the well-being of the other NetNavi. With all that wood, he seemed to had cause the destruction of one single Mettaur and the other quite a scare. She thought very proudly to be of such witness to a display of strength...but this was Megami's standards (which she barely had any).

It was Xenneth whose eye was twitching as he thought...

"He's...quite the improviser..."

The first cruel year of Dentch Academy had taught Xenneth how to properly slot in Battle Chips, use them in battle, and even how to handle his NetNavi. He had two out of three of those tasks mastered, but Megami was something completely alien to him and that was his excuse (and he was sticking to it). Seeing this NetNavi seemed to remind Xenneth something somewhat akin to himself and the Goddess-like female that he fought beside. She was ignorant of how to do a lot of things or even knowing what a "NetNavi" was. It was like she was some sort of Network Alien...if such a thing even existed!

"We should help!" she said.

"Yes we should!" he said.

"Flank right?" she gestured with a tilt, "Or left?" she opposed.

"Right!" he pointed.

Megami jetted!

The female figure had kicked off as she had broken forth into a sprint. Her body leaned forth and her curled up fists holding nothing but her curled and tight fingers that were hard enough to punch through brick with how she held her composure and pressed to close the range between herself and the viruses. She went straight, aiming to pass the Mettaur virus after it cowered under its helmet and to her coming left would be the said remaining Canodumb viruses. "This should do it." Xenneth's fingers quick to press a single chip into his P.E.T, and how the data was coming into the angelic NetNavi's crasp, she opened her right hand as she clutched a formed handle and could see from the corner of her eye a glimmer after a formed tip of a green blade.

Megami halted, slid, and spun on her heel in the direction of her target.

"Bamboo Knife!" She swept her blade forth with a swing reverse of her sword hand; spinning right and cutting from the virus's left to right; then pressing forth with a quick springing leap as she tried to strike the next virus that would be in line.

She had tried to do this all quickly, and in haste! There was no telling when her enemy would try to counter.

((My bad, Azure. First battle post and all -- won't happen again xD ))

This girl was as awkward with her comments as she was with her handshakes.

It wasn't annoying, though. In fact, her innocence was quite entertaining.

In the midst of all the action, Warrior made a quick count of how many viruses were left. Of the four he aimed four, only two were taken out -- and then Megami managed to destroy a third one. So that left three.

" Well that's disappointing.", he thought verbally.

But at least he'd managed to kill some, rather than none.

Initially planning to target the Cano-thing he failed to finish off, Warrior changed his mind after seeing Megami approach both cannons. Looks like he'd be going for the Metool instead.

" Jake... got any ideas?"

" Improvise."

" [sub]Right... the usual.[/sub]"

Jake never really did much operating or commanding against viruses -- or in any fight Warrior seemed to have in the bag. No, he saved his wits for tougher battles and mainly just focused on slotting in chips and letting Warrior learn for himself how to take down the smaller viruses. It was good training for the navi incase their communication was ever severed or disconnected for any reason.

" Rage Claw -- Slot in."

Warrior crossed his arms in front of his chest as a faint cyan glow encompassed his body, then raised his right hand skyward to receive the chip data sent to him by Jake's PET.

A glowing red, semi-transparent gauntlet adorned his right arm from elbow to wrist, enhancing his physical strength, and three sharp, semi-translucent, glowing red claws extended from the gauntlets to about 8-inches past his fingers' reach.

With the enhanced strength, he plucked the Metool from the ground and held it above his head with his right arm. It's feet were flailing like a cockroach stuck on its back, but not so much that Warrior lost his grip on it.

" [sub]Alright you little glitch...[/sub]"

His teeth were gritted, though he was still partially smiling as he attempted at finishing off the virus. Assuming Megami had taken care of the Canodumb, Warrior dismissed them as potential targets for him to throw the Metool at.

Actually, he dismissed the option of throwing it altogether.

Instead, he started slamming the poor thing on the ground, much like the way a two-year old "plays" with an action figure -- savagely banging it on the floor like a gorilla trying to crack open a coconut. If it's guard was strong enough to withstand that force, then it'd hopefully leave the virus with a pretty bad headache from the impact instead.

Megami moved to line herself up with the CannonDumbs while Warrior raised his own barrier.

Megami then ran in and slashed at the first CannonDumb with her BambooKnife while Warrior tried to pick up the Metool hiding within its helmet. The CannonDumb swiveled and caused Megami to miss. While the Metool's hard helmet caused Warrior's claws to scratch off harmlessly, unable to grab hold.

Then Megami slashed through the second of the two remaining CannonDumbs, deleting it. The CannonDumb that was missed, swiveled around again and blasted Warrior, shattering his barrier. Warrior took this in stride though and managed to grab hold of the Metool on his second attempt. He lifted up the poor, defenseless Metool and spiked it into the ground. The Metool was like a turtle, its little legs flailing desperately as it was upended. It gave off little high-pitched digital squeeks and chirps of terror.

((Derp >.< Point taken. Won't happen again. ))

Well, things didn't seem to be going terribly -- although Warrior wasn't satisfying himself with his performance.

He'd blame it on the lie fact that he was "still warming up".

He look down at the Metool as it's legs scrambled around wildly above its upside-down body. There was no point in giving this little guy anymore hope of continuing. Warrior could have just brushed through the Metool and moved on to the still-standing Canodumb, but considering the luck he'd had at finishing things off, he took a more direct approach.

Ignoring the Canodumb, Warrior brought his claw down on the Metool with three swift strikes -- each one leaving a glowing white streak in the air that lingered for a few seconds before dissipating.

And if the virus survived that... then perhaps he'd raise it as a pet or something. Why waste its impressive talent for survivability?

"Wha?!" She hit air! She missed! It was a stationary target and she missed!

Megami had to get herself together. Her foot almost toppled over as she almost lost balance. Her right hand that cleaved from left to right had hung in the air as she teetered forth, but she quickly regained her composure as her right foot had come forward. Megami's face that was hysterical, with a mixture of confusion and the partial shame of a woman close to falling down like a klutz, had started to show a serious expression once more.

"I can't make that mistake again!" she thought.

Megami grasped her blade's handle tightly. The Bamboo Knife had been come from the right and swung to the left in a sweeping downward slash, upward again, and finally down to the point of the ground as Megami cut in a diamond-like pattern aiming for the automated weapon's barrel, base, and shaft that connected the two points. The angelic NetNavi aimed to cut in such a defined triangular pattern that seemed to reek of her elegance.

Afterwards, doing so with a confidence in her attack. Megami turned crossing her sword across her chest and awaiting for the weapon to either fall apart in shambles, or prepare with a counter attack if it would have any strength remaining to do so.

As the very last virus dispersed into bits of squares that disintegrated into the air, Megami had taken that as a cue that the battle had come to a close. She whipped out her arm, making the Bamboo Knife vanish and turned her sight to the spinning diamond of green. She quickly jogged over to the data and stopped short looking it over from its top.

"Shall we, Xen-kun?" she asked.

"Mhmm!"

With Xenneth's warranted attention, Megami had held her hand over the spinning bit of data and begun to access the data. She stepped back to see what would reveal itself; only looking over her shoulder to her ally she had seen in battle. Certainly, he was most likely recovering from battle, and from the look of his fighting style, he was surely experienced with battling (or at least that's impression she had received); while Xenneth himself thought he was absolutely crazy.

"Are you alright?" Megami asked Warrior as she had held her hand out accessing the data.

Warrior's translucent red claw shattered into small red orbs of data that disintegrated along with the fragments of the deleted Metool. Poor thing... Warrior almost wanted it to survive. He already had a name picked out for it and everything.

"Are you alright?"

" Oh -- yup! ... Just warming up."

Jake chuckled sarcastically as Warrior had said that. He knew he'd say it, despite how totally untrue it was. To Jake's surprise, though, Warrior didn't have a scratch after that fight.

Warrior's Op-Screen popped open again (it had been closed for the duration of the battle) next to his head, allowing him to see Jake as they communicated.

" Alright. Ready to Jack-Out now?"

Warrior's eyes widened in shock, then sharpened in an almost disgustful manner as he turned his attention to Jake's screen.

[sub]" ... You're kidding, right?"[/sub]

Warrior spoke lowly enough for Megami and Xenneth not to hear -- or at least lowly enough that he didn't expect them to hear it.

" ... Why are you mumb-- -- [sub]C'mon, don't screw this up for me, man!"[/sub]

[sub]" Wait... what? What are you-- do you--... What?"[/sub]

Perplexity immediately washed over Jake's face, but it cleared up almost immediately as he realized what Warrior was talking about. He was obviously trying to impress Megami. What a sucker.

[sub]" ... You're kidding, right?"[/sub]

Jake subconsciously quoted his navi. Had he been aware of it, he'd've bit his tongue for that.

[sub]" ... What're you trying to say?"[/sub]

[sub]" Oh, nothing..."[/sub]

He was hopeless.

[sup]" ... nothing at all. Good luck."[/sup]

He'd need it.

Finished with their quiet dispute, Warrior walked up to the Mystery Data, opposite side Megami, waiting for her to finish accessing it. He was smiling like he had before -- not to the point that he was "cheesing it", but enough to show that he was enjoying this activity.

" Are you alright?"

It was a little late to return the question, but as they say: better late than never.
The GMD opens to reveal... chips!

*SNATCH!!!*

"I am just fine!" Megami responded in glee as she snatched the Battle Chip data from the air, "Thank you for asking!"

Of course, Megami stepped towards Warrior after accessing the Green Mystery Data and handed him the Battle Chip containing the Sword-Data for him. She had been hasty accessing the data, and it was only right that she did a service to at least have him his loot. She was a naïve girl at times, carelessly going by her heart when it came to such situations; not yet learning that she risked someone else's safety behind some of her actions without truly thinking things over.

How could she suspect that her ally was not strong? He handled that wood like a pro!

"I believe this is yours!" Megami said as she extended out her left hand revealing the other Battle Chip data she accessed, "I believe it will help you very much! You are a very good battler! How long have you done this?" she had asked, oblivious to what true "Net Battling Skill" was at the most. Xenneth could not be any more doubtful as he stared on prior to the conversation.

He really kept himself from using an open video communication. He was not use to seeing other NetNavis or people for that matter. This was so embarrassing!

((Extremely tired/lazy RP x.x))" You are a very good battler! How long have you done this?"

The chip data given to Warrior was sent to Jake's PET Screen. After inserting a "Blank Chip", of which he had many, into the "Slot In" compartment, the new Chip Data was printed onto the Blank Drive and added to Jake's small Battle Chip Collection.

" Oh, I've been Netbattling for... let's see..."

As Warrior carried on, Jake began refreshing the BattleChips they had exhausted in the previous fight. The PET kept track of which BattleChips had been used, so Jake simply needed to Slot-In those Chips for their data to be reprinted on them for later use. The process of reloading took about 10 full seconds for each Chip, but luckily, they didn't use very many, so it wasn't all that strenuous.

" ... Well, I've been Netbattling for as long as I can remember!"

Jake chuckled at that remark just like before. Warrior's memory wasn't very far-stretched, so "as long as he could remember" was no where near as long as it sounded. Truth be told, Jake had created Warrior just several months ago, based mostly off of his own Net-Battling intelligence. He wasn't at all disappointed with Warrior's progress, either -- but it would take quite some time before he reached the point that Jake was trying to take him to.

" You fought really well, too! How long have you and your Op..."

Warrior paused when he noticed there was no visual display of her Operator. He quickly resumed, though, not wanting to create another awkward silence between them.

" -- been Net Battling for?"

Warrior was sort of oblivious to his surroundings, mid-conversation, but Jake continuously scanning the area for more viruses.

The sleepiness had finally worn off at this point, so Jake was less inclined to end this quest to take a nap. Besides, Megami's help would ensure Warrior's safety (ironically, instead of the other way around) while feeding his learning curve, so this was much more effective training than Jake could have orchestrated on his own. Not to mention more entertaining.

~Battle 2: Start!!~
Just the thought of Megami's Net Operator made her gaze go off like she was some school girl with her first crush.

So, the moment Warrior asked about how long she battled, and mentioned Xenneth as if he was a vital part of her fighting, it brought the biggest smile to her face. Big blue eyes shimmered like crystal as she looked off slightly. The orbs rolled upward as the stars caught her attention, making them glisten even brighter in the night of ACDC Area. It had not been long that Xenneth and Megami had been Net Battling together on the internet, but every moment felt like some sort of dream!

"Well, I-"

Megami paused!

As much as she would like to daydream about her Net Operator, she really needed him right now.

"Xen-kun..."

The violet haired boy's eyes were drawn to the screen even more. Xenneth was not too keen on peeping in on someone else's conversation, especially if it was between two NetNavis. However, Megami's wimper of her voice had gotten the young boy's attention. He could look upon the screen, and see with his own eyes, an unusual sight as he seen the viruses suddenly appear from the shrubbery growing with the ACDC area. From the base of bushes to no telling how high they stacked, Cacti like virus had stretched to the heavens in piles that were intimidating to even Xenneth, even if they were not right before him!

"W-w-what are those?!"

There was also the sight of some big yellow eyes that peered from the darkness of the bushes; making them seem like they were some kind of oddly shaped virus. The violet haired boy was not sure what kind of viruses those were, but between the hidden bodies with some spooky eyes or the stacking green cacti, the mysterious virus was the scariest.

Megami warrant Warrior with a simple extension of her arm. The female figure bore a serious glare towards the horde of viruses as she seemed protective of Warrior's safety. A large concern developed for her new found friend. After all, anyone who made her think fondly of Xenneth was okay with her. He demonstrated just how much of a good Net battler he was; perhaps it was time that she done so as well.

"Perhaps it can show!" Megami said happily looking over her shoulder to Warrior. She knew it like routine that Xenneth would prepare to accompany her in virus busting; something they were doing good with so far. "I am ready Xen-kun!"

"Alright! Here I go! Let's take care of those scary mystery viruses!" he warned, "Boomerang! Battle Chip in, Download!"

The hand that halted Warrior in place had started to be aligned with a connecting grid that soon formed a mechanical launcher mounted upon Megami's wrist and her hand reaching through the device. On the inside, she grasped the trigger program that was clamping in place the massive Boomerang that was right before the eyes of Warrior. Megami had swung her body around from right to left at her front; spinning a step forth she cleared a meter of radius around her area in order to warrant her ally of a safety zone.

"Please, allow me!" she beckoned to Warrior, "I wish not to hurt you by accident."

Chestnut brown hair fallen to Megami's cheeks and from her vision as she prepared her stance. Her legs stretched out, she had balanced her weight on the heel of her feet before whipping around once more, this time, letting the boomerang launch as it whirled forth and cut the air at an intense speed. It was like a miniature whirling tornado as it swept forth aiming to strike what was hiding beyond the bushes, reaching across the area the Shrubby viruses was hiding within.

"We'll draw whatever that is out!" Xenneth called out, "Shotgun will get what's hiding behind those bushes!"

Xenneth had loaded the next battle chip; setting it into his P.E.T. with a simple click! The next instant, Megami was trading in her launch for an array compressed around her wrist that took the form of what seemed like a canister like weapon. With a pull of the trigger, there was a crack that shot forth a blast of energy aiming for the bush that the Boomerang was sweeping towards as it flew forth. It was a wild shot in the dark, but Xenneth would feel much comfortable seeing a familiar virus he learned in his textbooks rather than seeing some crazy looking bush with evil monster eyes.

"There are certainly a lot of viruses..."

Megami noted the numbers on the field compared to herself and Xenneth. She had nearly forgotten that Warrior was along with her; someone she would not feel comfortable asking for help since he done so already. Preparing for the worst possible outcome, Megami pressed her hands forth in a defensive stance. Her wrists crossed each other closely as she had her palms slightly closed in a hesitant manner. Her hands slowly seeped her trademark aura that begun to slowly covet her body in a cocoon of the brimming essence.

Megami's absentminded gaze put Warrior in a captivated state of his own, soaking up the alluring mesmerized-expression of her face with his wide-opened, golden eyes. It was strange that, if one were to notice, his pupils actually sharpened instead of dilating -- opposing the natural subconscious display of infatuation. His smile grew slightly wider as he noticed the trees popping up everywhere.

[sub]" ... Just like in a movie."[/sub]

Now if only there were a bench for them to sit at and a large moon to look to amidst the "romantic" scenery.

" ... Warrior!"

[sub]" Not right now."[/sub]

Nature was working in his favor, for once. And Megami's stare -- in Warrior's mind -- was in reaction to her thoughts about him. Things were actually going well.

" Warrior! In the bushes!"

" That would be... kind of sudden... don't you thin-- No! Look in the bushes!"

Remorsefully taking his attention off of Megami, Warrior turned his head to the brush, only to see bright yellow, glowing eyes staring back at him.

[sup]" No such thing as privacy nowadays, huh?"[/sup]

" I can't tell what's in there, so you need to find a way to make it show itself."

" Got it..."

" Perhaps it can show!"

Warrior had reached his hand behind his shoulder, gripping the hilt of his weapon that had been kept there -- but before he could draw it to attack, he noticed Megami's hand in front of his body, signaling him to stand back.

" ... Are you sure you can--"

Before he could finish, a massive Boomerang digitalized in his face, gripped tightly by the hand that had held him back. A smile came back over Warrior's face, no doubt impressed by the weapon.

" Not bad."

Better than he could do, actually... but of course he wouldn't say that. As Megami made her step forward and requested her space, Warrior simply nodded, and turned his own back to her, simultaneously to when she had thrown the boomerang.

" Take your hand off the sword, Warrior. You won't be needing that."

Back-to-back with Megami, Warrior actually began feeling vey confident as well, regardless of the group they found themselves against. His smile quickly shrunk to a more worried frown as he noticed the other types of virus present here.

" ... Cactuses."

" Wood-Type. So keep your distance."

" ... We don't have a lot of distance-keeping chips."

" But we have some! Cannon! Battle Ch-- Give me the Rage Claw!"

Warrior's request would be delayed, since Jake had already slotted in the Cannon Chip.

" I said keep your distance! Why do you want a Melee weapon!"

Raising one hand in response to the Cannon Chip being sent to him, Warrior pointed his index and middle finger of the raised hand at the nearest Cactus Virus -- almost as if he was aiming at it with a finger-gun.

After having thought about it, Jake realized the bushes could be used as thrown-objects with Warrior's requested chip. Not a bad idea, actually.

" Alright, fire off the shot. Your chip's coming."

Lime-green, tennis-ball sized orbs of data began gathering around Warrior's outstretched hand from out of the thin air around it. A second later, the data merged together to form the shape of an average cannon-head -- glowing solid green, and translucent enough that Warrior's hand was still visible inside of it.

As his thumb dropped (as if firing his "finger-pistol" while it was inside of the semi-transparent cannon), the green data rushed forth from his hand as a basketball-sized bullet that rocketed toward its target.

" Rage Claw!"

During the recoil, Warrior's hand shot skyward and was kept there to accept the incoming Chip-Data from Jake. Just as before, a translucent red gauntlet adorned his arm along with two meter-length blades attached to the knuckle-end of the weapon.

Warrior immediately thrust his opposite palm in front of his body, summoning a faint protective barrier around him.

" Go for the closest brush and finish off the first Cacty!"

Rather than obeying, Warrior turned his head back to see how Megami was fairing. He paused for a second as a mischievous grin spread across his face.

" I got a better idea!"

" Warrior, what are you--?!"

Jake's question was interrupted as Warrior leaped forward to the side of Megami -- being sure to keep out of the line-of-fire of her Shotgun Attack. He reached forward with his claw-arm, eyes locked on Megami's Boomerang is it was making its return trip from the Viruses she had thrown it at earlier.

[sub]" Don't miss... Don't miss... Don't miss..."[/sub]

His mumbled motivation gave him determination as the Boomerang drew closer to his palm -- fingers ready to close shut immediately upon feeling the impact of the weapon. He had his Barrier as a failsafe incase the catch were to fail, but he'd hoped to use that for attacks he wouldn't see coming.

Warrior wasn't entirely sure if this stunt would even work, but if it did, he had his next action fully planned.

Should his gambit succeed, he'd immediately turn back around to hurl the massive Boomerang at the Cacty he'd shot his Cannon at earlier -- careful not to hit Megami as he swung his arm in a vertical motion. The throw would being intended to give the Boomerang's trajectory a vertical arc, rather than wide horizontal one.

Every spec of precision would be put into the throw, and every ounce of his strength, so that when the weapon left his hand, it would soar through the air almost invisibly -- spinning so quickly that it reflect no light as it whistled its way to its destination. The only visual evidence of its presence would be the glowing green after-images it produced in its trek -- each after-image would dissipate quickly enough that only three were ever visible at once.

Upon the desired impact of the throw, the Boomerang would shatter with either the ground, the target, or with Warrior's hopes and dreams of even pulling the technique off -- which ever fate decided.

Megami spins around and launches her Boomerang3 at the group of Shrubbies hiding in the bushes while Warrior takes a shot at one of the Cacty. The boomerang spins through the bushes, deleting two of the bushes. Since the Shrubbies were using the bushes as a bunker, the boomerang does not harm them. However, those without a bush home were now visible. They looked like an imitation of a bush with a weird face plastered upon it. Meanwhile, the Cannon shot smashes into its target, causing substantial damage to the Cacty virus.

The Shrubbies that were now visible ran to other, unoccupied bushes and jumped in, hiding once again. Warrior raises his barrier as Megami Shotguns the last Shrubby. She pegs the bush like a pro, and the spread-through also tags the Shrubby inside, deleting both. Two of the untouched Shrubbies take the time to roll logs at the Navis. One log misses Megami but hits Warrior, while the second log misses Warrior, but hits Megami. Warrior's barrier absorbs the blow, but Megami suffers damage.

Megami then raises her own barrier while Warrior dons a RageClaw1 and attempts to grab the Boomerang3. If he catches it, he would be able to use it at its full power... Unfortunately, he misses the timing and it smashes into him, also at full power. Thankfully, he had a barrier and the chip doesn't cause Impact damage. So, the barrier absorbs all the damage and shatters, leaving him vulnerable again. But at least not at critical condition (had he taken the full force of 120 damage).

Finally, the Cacty's roll their heads at the Navis like spiky cactus bowling balls... although apparently all targeting Warrior. Thankfully, only two hit the non-dodging Navi for light damage. Then all the heads reappear on their respective totem pole bodies.

*THUD!!!*

That was the sound of Megami falling face flat after being tripped up by a rolling log; almost a tragic failure as Warrior's grasp of the Boomerang.

Although she had made her recovery and made a hefty defense, she had realized that fighting the way they were would no doubt cause a problem. They were surrounded, not to mention they were outnumbered. It was painfully obvious that the viruses had the advantage of sending things rolling and bouncing towards them with little time to react. With Warrior's defense lost, Megami was concerned for his safety, and so that meant she would have to do one of few things she never thought she would: make a suggestion to amend her friend's strategy!

"Xen-kun!" Megami called, "Have you noticed something?"

There was an oddity a moment after the boomerang swiped at the bushes. The second they seen what they were dealing with, Xenneth and Megami had a twisted expression seeing the viruses were not some brute little monster, but the complete opposite! When they were exposed, they cowered like little rabbits and took to another bush. It made Xenneth, nonetheless, look at them with a twisted expression of confusion. For such a filthy breed of data, some "viruses" just had a bad reputation.

"Well, they aren't exactly brave," Xenneth said lowly to himself. "Ah! I got it!"

Xenneth's eyes brightened as if a light bulb had come to life in that head of his. He had reached his right hand to his satchel, removed slowly another battle chip as he started to press it into his P.E.T. "After we use this, we should help Warrior-san. He looks like he may be in distress." The violet haired boy nodded, pressing the Battle Chip into his P.E.T. "Pulsar! Battle chip in, download!" Megami's right hand changed its form once more. This time, her wrist had stretched an array of blue light that made a cylindrical shape, and coming from the base of her palm was that same line that kept tangling and connecting until it seemed like she made a miniature antenna mounted weapon. She pointed it towards the bushes, one in particular that she seen a virus run towards, and fired from it a powerful blast of sound in its direction.

"Hurry!" Xenneth cried, "Before they launch a counterattack!"

Megami spun on her heel and kicked off into a sprint going past Warrior who had been aiming towards the Cacti viruses, and then straight towards the edge of the formation. One of the viruses had seemed to finish its benign attack and stacking its body like a totem pole, but Megami was not going to give them time in order to pull that technique off anymore. Raising her right arm as her weapon broken away from what was a cylindrical antenna to a now steel clamp with jagged teeth close to one another. The weapon's design was long and made it seem like the maw of a beast. With a single burning flame at the tip, Megami had pulled the trigger igniting it into a blaze in an instant.

"Megami-chan, try to hit as many viruses as you can!" Xenneth exclaimed. It was hard enough to do such a thing considering she was having a hard time just getting them in line.

Maybe Warrior could do something about that?

" Well so much for that."

" Cut the crap, Warrior! Stay focused"

[sub]" ... Right."[/sub]

Warrior turned around after missing his catch (and putting him to great shame), only to find several cactuses rolling at his feet.

He managed to dance around most of them, but two hit their mark on his legs, leaving rather large splinters sticking out of where they made contact.

Warrior bit his lip tightly -- almost bringing blood -- trying not to shriek or even grunt at the pain.

Jake's mind immediately went to work after seeing the Attack-Method of each virus.

" Warrior, put your Barrier back up."

" I... can't. It needs time to repair."

Well, that was most unfortunate.

" I think I can finish off that Virus we hit earlier, if I move in close enou-- Don't. Keep your distance until you've got more protection."

Considering the situation, staying put sounded like a bad idea. Getting out of the middle was their best viable option -- that way they couldn't take unforeseeable hits from enemies to their rear.

But Warrior didn't want to leave Megami to fend for herself...

" ... I can't dodge anything, otherwise she'll get hit."

" ..."

" ... But I can't stand still and take more hits like that, either."

" ..."

Jake paused for a moment to analyze the situation.

" ... Use your RageClaw. Catch their heads and throw them back."

Warrior's eyes widened at Jake's command. Why didn't he think of that?!

Just as he was about to brace himself, though, Megami had darted off for the Cacty Viruses and summoned a new weapon to her arm.

" Give her some back-up!"

Instinctively nodding, Warrior took off for the opposite side of the Cacty-group as Megami. He moved hastily, but kept his eye on two specific Viruses, waiting for them to roll their heads at him so he could catch it. If they delayed their attacks long enough for Warrior to reach them, he'd still make a daring attempt to pluck their spikey heads off of their bodies with his RageClaw -- being careful not to get himself stuck with their thorns again, in the process. Infact, he wouldn't even use his fingers nor palm for the grab, but rather the two blades protruding from the knuckles of his gauntlet. If all went according to plan, he'd impale the virus, then sling it off of his weapon in a very fluid, almost single movement.

" Aim for the fire!"

The stream of fire protruding from Megami's arm seemed like a great place to throw the Cactus Heads at -- should his intentions actually come to fruition this time. He'd be careful not to throw them at Megami, but rather at the tongue of flames infront of her.

While on the opposite side of the field as the Shrubbies, Warrior assumed he'd have ample time to evade anything they chose to throw at him -- but just incase, he'd finished his previous movement behind the Cacty viruses, attempting to use their stationary bodies as protection against anymore rolling logs that would come his way.

Megami levels a Pulsar into one of the bushes, causing the high-frequency vibrations to explode and take out that bush, plus the bush next to it, though unfortunately missing both of the Shrubbies. The Shrubbies chitter in terror and turn toward the next set of bushes. Warrior takes the time to weave himself into the middle of the Cacty.

Megami also moves, to align herself with the Cacty. The exposed Shrubby run and hide in some bushes, while the other Shrubby launch their attacks. One of them strikes Megami's barrier, while the other misses, but then strikes one of the bushes. The bush is destroyed, but the log remains.

Finally, Megami launches a stream of fire at the Cacty. Warrior readies his claws to intercept attacks and throw them into the fire. And the Cacty roll their heads. All of the Cacty heads miss, and the line of flame envelops the three bodies of the headless Cacty before their heads can magically return to them, consuming them into dust. Unfortunately, striking three targets was the maximum that FireBurn1 could target before running out of fuel. That meant that when Warrior intercepted both heads and threw them towards the fire, the fire dissipated before the heads struck. So one was deleted by smacking into the hard ground and the other took some damage and returned magically to the body.
