Vacation in Orbit

In a blaze of gunfire and lightning, the front of the large castle was purged of viral activity, leaving nothing but shimmering bits of leftover data. Mach's decoys disappeared completely as the two SPs behind him fanned out and started to collect the spoils. Mach stood still, providing overwatch for his SPs in case other foes were drawn to the noise of the battle. The Navi's eyes scanned the ramparts above. "That was simple enough, but lets gather up the data quickly. Nothing has shown up yet, but if they get the jump on us from the ramparts, we're going to be in trouble,"Mach said calmly. Aera looked over her shoulder as she held a battlechip data packet in her hand, "Good point, I think we have everything now." She looked over to Vector to see his progress, the fractal SP nodded quietly as the last bugfrag lazily floated to his armored legs and seemed to melt into his body.

The SPs slowly backed away from the building, stopping at Mach's sides. The front gate of the building was now exposed, and the inner doors had eerily creaked open at the conclusion of the battle. Convenient. Too convenient. Mach and Mazer had both seen enough videos and movies to know something that cliched had to be some sort of trap, but both of their curiosities seemed to overpower their better judgement. Mach put his hands on his hips and chuckled, "Heh, looks like we're being invited in." Mazer had leaned forward to get a better look at the castle entrance, and spoke as he adjusted his glasses, "could that be any more forboding and cliche?" he said almost sarcastically. "Yeah, but I'm still curious as to why a metal castle is sitting in the middle of a NAXA network. Seems out of place and outdated. Let's see what secrets it holds," the navi spoke confidently. "Alright, just keep your guard up," Mazer said with a shrug.

Mach started to walk towards the open doors, glancing back momentarily, "Stay close, Aera. Vector, watch our six." Aera nodded quietly and got in step behind the blue and orange Navi. Vector acknowledged the command silently as well, prompting the plates making up his chest and arms to shift drastically. The fingers of his right hand folded down and crowded together to a single sharpened point as his forearm lengthened to something akin to a broadsword; his left forearm flattened out and spread apart like a large, jagged tower shield. Vector's glowing cycloptic eye sweeped left to right as he followed dutifully behind the pair walking ahead of him, watching, waiting.

In single file, and without a word being said, the trio passed through the archway and into the castle, not sure of what they would encounter.

((Ready for Battle #5))
Venturing into the mighty castle that stood before them, Mach and crew moved through the giant doorway into the unknown. Walls lined in old stone, small glowing orbs that seemed to float against the walls with no real means of support provided light.

It didn't take long before the trio would come to a large open grand hall, far too large than it really should be, almost as if the castle itself expanded ever outward, or perhaps the castle was nothing more than a short tunnel.

Before them space seemed to go on forever, with just a few small platforms that seemed to lower forever below into the dark nothingness. Though they'd not have too long to take in the view, for as they approached the edge of the endless abyss, twin viruses dropped onto the two platforms.

Each looked serpentine, close to 8 feet long, standing on powerful talon tipped feet while short arms sported their own razor sharp claws. Lining their backs seemed to be lines of spikes, perhaps three or four inches each, going from neck to near the end of their tails. The virus on the left glared on, through deep crimson eyes that matched his blood red scales and fiery orange hair, while its twin only in nature eyed the navi and support programs beyond deep navy scales and bright sky blue eyes.

Each seemed to take on a grin before throwing heads back and let out a loud roar in unison. Which shortly after brought a far more terrifying reply from deep in the darkness of space, and soon Mach and the gang could see its source as a far larger drake started to fly through the emptiness towards them.

Stopping afloat, just beyond the pillars, a great beast, near 20 feet tall, with powerful wings flapping behind to keep it hovering in front of them. Like the smaller ones, this great serpent beast was deep green in color, sharing claws tipping hands and feet, while its fang filled muzzle twisted in mock grin before letting out another terrifying shriek that shook the walls of the castle around them.

—Boss Rogue Battle, Start!—
((bloody hell, 2-year thread necro))
As the trio made their way into the grand hall, they fanned out into an alternating wedge formation with Mach taking point, while Aera followed to his right, with Vector a tad further behind and to his left. They were greeted by twin reptilian viruses, prompting the three to raise their protective shielding on reflex. Mach spoke from behind his nearly transparent energy shields. "Can't say we've encountered these before." Almost as if on cue, a third, much larger virus emerged from the inky black void ahead of them, announcing its entrance with a piercing shriek. "Especially not one of those," Aera said matter-of-factly. Her body began to buzz with electrical power, suddenly prompting a green bolt to arc between Vector's body and her own. Instead of electrocuting the fractal SP, his energy levels were topped off. The SP nodded with silent appreciation before his singular, glowing red eye focused on the three viruses ahead.

MachMan quickly assessed the battlefield, noting the terrain and the fact nothing else seemed to be following the GreenDrake out of the void below. He kept his focus on the viruses as he addressed his NetOp. "Requesting SummonBlack, AirRaid, and MetaGel chips." Meanwhile, Mach's decoy drones had materialized behind him in single file and started to activate their holoprojectors. Mazer quickly slid the requested chips from his storage magazine and started to feed them through the PET one-by-one as he responded, ["On their way. I'd focus on the weaker ones first, then overwhelm the largest target."] "Agreed," replied Vector. Even without orders, Mach saw his SPs targeting one Drake apiece, and it appeared they deduced which one was weakest to their attacks by the virus' color schemes. Mach grinned; his SPs were getting smarter and less reliant on his guidance. In the distance, a dark vortex began to swirl into existence in the void ahead of the group. An angular, shadowy figure emerged from the vortex, wielding a jagged, pitch-black blade. Without warning, the shadow rushed towards the GreenDrake before stopping immediately behind it and swung its sword in a wide, horizontal arc. With luck, the figure's shadowy blade had the reach to bring its edge to bear on all three viruses.

While the figure attacked, Mach's wing thrusters primed briefly before erupting to life, sending Mach forward and towards the ceiling of the great hall. He kept his focus on the viruses below, watching for incoming fire. At the same time, two identical copies of the Navi split off from his position, mirroring the navi with slightly more diagonal paths as they zoomed towards the opposite sides of the great hall. After taking a moment to materialize, a fourth being took to the sky, this one being a seemingly 'chibi' version of the MachFighter. It climbed quickly before rolling to the right as it reached the apex of its climb. It continued to roll back to level and started its strafing run on the GreenDrake. Twin cannons on its wing roots barked loudly as it attempted to pepper the large virus before passing overhead. At the same time, Aera and Vector stood their ground as they launched a simultaneous barrage on the smaller viruses. White-hot lightning bolts blasted from Aera's outstretched right arm and made a beeline towards the BlueDrake, exploding with quick flashes of light. Vector's assault wasn't quite as obvious as Aera's sound and light show, but the two spear-like slivers of metal that hurtled towards the RedDrake had plenty of power behind them. Vector aimed specifically towards the RedDrake's tooth-filled mouth and one of its talon-tipped feet, attempting to damage or destroy some of the virus's natural weapons.

Mach rolled inverted and dove over the line of viruses in a spiraling path towards ground level. Since he heard and saw his SPs complete their assault, he didn't have to worry too much about friendly fire for now, even though he had put the viruses between him and his SPs. His decoys had moved to the opposite sides of the grand hall, as if they were attempting to surround and cage in the viruses. Mach's intent was to provoke the viruses into spreading their fire instead of focusing on the somewhat vulnerable SPs ahead. To further draw their attention away, a trio of blue gelatinous blobs materialized over each of the viruses. They swelled up to a significant size before dropping straight down over the viruses' positions in an attempt to splatter them with sticky, caustic gel.

Mach paused in the air at ground level as he turned back towards the viruses and cocked his right arm back, as if preparing a punch. As he did so, the thruster on his right sole ignited, sending him into a sliding cartwheel across the back "wall" of the battlefield. As he rolled over a total of 3 times, large rusty yellow plates materialized over his right shoulder, arm, and fist, leaving the appendage bulked up and iron-clad. He finished his cartwheel and stared down the viruses as he tightened his fist, creating a metal-on-metal grinding sound with his over-sized armored fingers. Should one of the Drakes attack, they'd be rewarded with a crushing fist to the face. For their sake, they'd better not have glass jaws.

Strangely, the castle continued to shake even after the largest of the draconic viruses stopped shrieking. This continued as MachMan raised his shields and sent out decoy drones. The red and blue dragons targeted each of the drones, shooting them down with blasts of fire and ice. That did nothing to stop the onslaught of attacks that followed, hitting all three drakes and nailing the red and blue ones in their weaknesses. They quickly fell, leaving only the green one standing. It managed to avoid the attacks of the shadowy figure and slimes by diving in and out of the chasm beneath it, but still took several hits from the chibi fighter jet. Finally, after the last attack, it rose back out of the abyss and attempted to slam its serpentine body into MachMan, only to run straight into his fist instead. It coiled around itself as it pulled away, shrieking, then unleashed a breath attack of its own, taking the form of a blast of wind.

But, of course, MachMan avoided that as well.

It was only then that the source of the continued rumbling became known. Two large structures rose out of the darkness below, slowly spinning as they drifted up and came to a rest on what counted for a battlefield. Were it not for the fact that they were free-floating and their bases looked no different from their tops, 'towers' would not have been an inaccurate description. They appeared to be made of strips and bars of metal, twisted together to form structures full of holes. As they stopped moving, brilliant beacons of light erupted from the tip and base of the towers, shining into the sky and the abyss below. Smaller, but innumerable lights appeared all over the structures as well, filling all the holes and gaps in their metal bodies.

The remaining dragon virus stared between the two towers, confused, then coiled its body again and prepared to attack. In response, a flash of light erupted from both towers, and beams shot from several holes in each. They converged on the dragon, damaging and stunning it.

Battle 5, Restart!
The drones did their jobs admirably, drawing fire away from the SPs as they downed the smaller Drakes. However, it seems two tower-like structures took their places, floating up from the darkness. Two replacement drones materialized quickly to take their places before duplicating their master. They zipped off towards the towers, criss-crossing between them. Mach and his SPs refreshed their defensive routines and prepared for retaliation, but it appeared the towers attacked the hostile Drake with multiple beams of light. "Automated defenses?" Mach surmised. Mazer, who had watched the battle transpire intently from a distance, chimed in to comment. ["Appears so, but it looks like we'll have to get past them as well. They don't appear to have any blind spots either, so stay sharp. I'm slotting in a RockCube to give you all some cover."] Aera and Vector make a quick scan left and right, noting they indeed had no cover between them and the programs ahead. That quickly changed as a large stone cube rose up from the floor ahead of them. " Thanks, Mazer!" Aera called out as she advanced and got behind the RockCube, with Vector following close behind.

Mach, still near the back of the great hall, watched the towers intently in preparation to avoid any potential attacks from the hole-covered sentinels. He responded to his NetOp with a request, "Thank you Mazer, I'll also need a Magnum, BigHammer, and Counter." Mazer responded with a ["Will do,"] and slotted the trio of chips through the PET. Mach raised his left arm as data started to swirl above it, forming into a large, triple-barreled cannon. He quickly targeted the trio of viruses ahead of him, locking over their positions as he swung the weapon into position. His first target, the GreenDrake, was the first to bear the brunt of the Magnum as he fired a large caliber, incendiary round towards the reptilian virus. Without pause, he angled the weapon slightly to the side to place one of the StarTowers directly in the line of fire. Before the brass shell casing of the previous round disappeared into the void below, Mach fired his second shot towards the StarTower. He aimed directly at the last StarTower before sending one last incendiary round rocketing towards the program.

While he engaged the three hostile programs, Mach's trusty Vulcan cannon had materialized underneath his right forearm. The Magnum quickly fragmented into a cloud of data and began to disappear, prompting Mach to swing his right arm into position pointing towards the closest StarTower. The trigger assembly swung up from the attachment bracket into Mach's hand as the Vulcan began to spool up with a high-pitched whine. He pointed the weapon directly at the StarTower's midsection and held it there as he started to strafe to the side, tracing a semi-circle around the tower, unloading the weapon's armor-piercing ammunition with a deafening roar. Using the barrage as a cue, Aera and Vector took the opportunity to begin their own assault while trying to remain at least partly obscured by the RockCube. Vector hurled a tomahawk-shaped blade towards one of the StarTowers, while Aera overloaded her electrical capacitors in an explosion of light. Though unseen, a powerful electromagnetic pulse wave burst forth from Aera's body and surged towards the StarTower while Mach orbited around the other. After attacking, they ducked back behind the RockCube.

Mach's ammo supply was quickly depleted, prompting the weapon to wind down before disintegrating. Instead of disappearing completely, the cloud of data reformatted into the shape of an almost comically large battle hammer, complete with a column-shaped head and an extended handle. Just as the weapon became solid, Mach gripped the hammer with both hands and held it like he was preparing for a baseball pitch. He lined the StarTower up with its twin, then swung the hammer with an attempt to make a line-drive hit directly at the tower, and maybe even knock the free-floating tower into the other. Not to be completely outdone, Aera fired one last blast of electricity at the opposite StarTower in the form of a white-hot lightning bolt. The resulting electrical explosion cued Mach to discard the hammer post-swing and jet away from his current position. He zoomed along the side wall of the grand hall while he activated the Counter1 chip, causing his right shoulder, arm, and fist to be significantly bulked up into a massive GutFist. The speedy Navi watched intently for a likely inevitable counter attack, but he was prepared to respond with a counter of his own.

As Machman and his support programs refreshed their defenses, the two towers did the same. A faintly glowing barrier appeared around each, as well as something beneath it, noticeably only from a few twinkling lights from beneath their metallic outer shells. What was it? Machman would just have to find out himself. The towers didn't attack yet, however, allowing MachMan time to set up a RockCube at the edge of solid ground, which Aera and Vector could easily take cover behind. It was only when the dragon virus attempted to move again that the towers finally attacked. Rather than focusing on the dragon, this time, they saturated the entire area with a barrage of bolts of light, hitting everything in the area.

Or...that's what could have happened, at least. Instead, through some impressive dodging, Machman managed to avoid the barrage entirely, and Aera and Vector stayed safe behind the RockCube. And despite the sheer number of hits the cube took, it didn't seem to be all too badly damaged. This left Machman with an easy shot on all three targets. The dragon virus, left badly weakened by the previous hits it had taken, was blown apart by the Magnum blast. The towers, however, were protected by their barriers. At least, until the barriers broke under the force of the shots and left the towers unguarded. Machman exploited this immediately, firing off several shots at one of the towers.

Under cover of Machman's assault, Aera and Vector launched attacks of their own, but this drew attention to them as the towers began a second barrage. Although the cube, again, managed to protect them from the worst of the attack, the sheer volume of projectiles led to both support programs taking a couple of hits each. Good thing both of them still had shields up. Machman, as well, took quite a few hits, which broke through his shield but only did a small amount of damage after the shield fell. Likewise, the RockCube, which could do nothing but soak up bullets, had only sustained half of the damage that would have been needed to break it.

Machman then moved to line up the two towers and smashed one of them with a hammer. The hit did a significant amount of damage, but didn't move the tower at all. Despite being free-floating, it seemed that both of them were pretty sturdy. In response to the sudden movement and attack, several of the lights in both towers dimmed and went out, leaving only the twinkling lights in their place. Then, a few, much larger and brighter lights appeared, poking out through several holes each. A single, large bolt of light shot from each. Machman managed to evade the shot from the nearest tower, while the one from the farthest hit the near tower.

And then passed right through, re-directing towards MachMan. He failed to dodge it, but the shot activated his Counter chip, allowing him to jump straight to the far tower and slam a souped up fist into it.

Unfortunately, this seemed to be exactly what the towers had prepared for. The moment the counterattack hit, the twinkling lights under the tower's outer shell went out, and several more beams shot out at MachMan.

At least he still managed to damage it, though.

Though Mach was marginally successful at dodging the StarTowers' attacks, by the end of his assault his shields had been worn away. However, they'd manage to breach the towers' own defenses. Aera started to repair the RockCube, as it likely wouldn't stand another wave of attacks and leave both Vector and herself completely exposed. While green electrical sparks spread through the rockcube and repaired its structure, Mach called out to his NetOp. "Mazer, I'll need quite a few chips for this round, starting with DashAttack2, SonicBoom, and DoubleShot." Mazer quickly got to work on uploading the chips, while his Navi jetted away from his previous position over solid ground, attempting to shake off any potential targeting locks the towers attempted to establish. The Navi turned weightlessly a couple inches from the metallic floor and faced the towers ahead. His orange-trimmed sapphire eyes glanced to his side as he spoke to his female SP, "Aera, I'm going to try to tear up some of the metal panels and send them towards the towers; try to blast them right when the panels get close!" "Ready when you are, Mach!" Aera responded enthusiastically as her body continued to buzz with electricity, occasionally causing a small arc to snap between her fingers or appendages.

Mach's drones strafed the side walls of the grand hall, trying to draw attention away from the trio as they prepared their strike. ["Chips uploaded, go for it!"] Mazer exclaimed, having successfully uploaded the requested chips. Mach responded by slightly gaining altitude as he started to roll in the air, as he did so, his body started to fragment and expand. Large metallic structures sprouted from his form, sliding and folding together to form a large, angular aircraft shape. In a flurry of metal and sparks, MachMan had transformed into the MachFighter, his nose pointing directly between the two StarTowers. The MachFighter floated weightlessly a few feet above the floor just long enough for its four large plasma thrust engines to spin up, producing an intensifying cyan glow. With a deafening roar and a flash of light, Mach blasted forward at an incredible speed as if he were rigged up to a carrier catapult. The sheer acceleration and pressure wave shook the ground beneath him, causing a couple panels to be forcefully torn from the floor. The same force tearing the floor along with the Navi also created a potent pressure wave surging behind him, caused by the rapid compression of the data ahead of the Navi collapsing behind him as he rocketed forward at supersonic speeds. Mach was first to rocket past the towers, attempting to bash them with the pressurized veil of air over the leading surfaces of his body, like an invisible spear head. He looked more like a cyan-trailed blur than anything else, and streaked past the towers. His SonicBoom "wake" followed close behind, packing enough punch to even nullify any projectiles that got caught in its path as it surged over a wide swath of the area ahead.

Aera used the flash of Mach's engines to signal her to peer out from behind the RockCube. As the Navi stated, a pair of metal panels were torn from the floor ahead and hurtled towards the towers. The SP quickly raised both arms towards the towers, watching intently for the tumbling panels to strike the towers. It didn't take long, so she promptly fired off a pair electrical bolts towards the towers. They streaked towards their targets in a flash before exploding into rapidly expanding webs of electrical discharges. If the programs were lucky, the bolts could electrify the metal panels as they strike, potentially giving the attack a bit more kick. A trio of dark blue needle-like slivers of metal followed the electrical bolts, silently thrown by Vector in hopes of striking the stronger of the two towers.

After passing the towers, Mach yanked the nose of his MachFighter form skyward as he deactivated the .GMO. His body folded back down to his default shape quickly, Mach turned and reversed direction back towards the towers. Just prior to lighting off his wing thrusters to send him back in the midst of the battle, Mach called out to his NetOp, "Now I'll need Burner, PoisonMask, and TankCannon." ["Right away!"] Mazer replied. The Navi flew between the towers just as he got the notice the requested chips had been uploaded. He abruptly came to a stop just behind the mid-point between the StarTowers, splaying his wing structures outwards. All of the thrust vents on his body began to glow brightly with a high-pitched whine. Suddenly, every thruster he had erupted with cyan flames, covering the area with a wide spread of fire and heat. The temperature raised so quickly and so high the surrounding netspace around the Navi started to combust, drowning the cyan thrust plumes with a bright orb of orange and red flames.

The flames quickly died down, revealing MachMan wielding a new set of volatile-looking weapons. His left arm brandished a metallic tower shield trimmed with large conical spikes, obscuring a line of vents behind its metal surface. A pair of eyes and a toothy grin appeared painted on the face of the shield, but the grin twisted into a wide, menacing smile as wispy purple clouds of miasma blew out of the vents. Mach seemed to be unaffected by the rapidly growing cloud of caustic miasma that covered the area like a violet shroud. The Navi's right arm had transformed into a hefty-looking large caliber cannon that looked like it should've been attached to a main battle tank instead of a Navi. Mach pointed the cannon directly towards the second StarTower before firing the weapon point-blank. The barrel of the cannon slid back in its housing slightly to alleviate some of the recoil caused by the solid tank round that fired from the weapon.

Aera had noticed the towers stunned the Drake upon their arrival, and knew Mach was likely going to be a prime target. She launched a swirling green orb from behind the RockCube, which locked on to Mach's program and homed in on the Navi to hopefully unlock any routines potentially snarled by the StarTower's light-based attacks.

((Sorry for the delay. Things always seem to pick up again right when I try to take on more stuff to do))

Aera set to work repairing the rockcube, which was almost certainly a good idea, given the towers' area saturation attacks. The towers opted not to switch back to that right away, though, and instead put up another barrier, then fired off single beams at Machman. The second tower's aim was way off, though, and instead fired at the exact same target it hit the first time: the first tower. The same effect still happened, however. The moment it hit the tower it was redirected, as though hitting a Prism chip, and then followed the same path as the first tower's attack. Machman dodged both attacks, however, and ended up back over the metal floors. From there, he attempted to dash straight through the towers, just in time for them to begin another barrage. Unfortunately, the towers were too far apart for even the fighter body to hit, although the wave attack and panels that followed found their marks. The sonic boom chip only succeeded in breaking the barriers around the towers, but had the added bonus of erasing a large quantity of the towers' massive barrage. Between that and the confused aim of the second tower, only a few shots between the two of them managed to hit Machman, while anything aimed at the RockCube or anything around it was erased entirely. Even Mach's decoy drones managed to escape being hit.

Meanwhile, the panels did normal damage, and were followed up by Aera's attacks to do even more damage. Vector then proceeded to attack the sturdier of the two towers. On the final attack, something sparked on the tower, and the innumerable lights coming from within faded. It seemed that Vector had managed to disable some of its guns. Not everything, though. The first tower unloaded another barrage, hitting the RockCube both support programs were hiding behind, but Machman miraculously managed to dodge every shot. Unfortunately, with the two towers' coordination upset so badly, dodging both towers' attacks became a much more difficult task, and a stunning blast hit Machman as he passed through a gap in the barrage.

That didn't stop him from executing his next attack, though, catching both towers just at the edge of his flame jets' range, then adopting a weapon and shield setup. Although he blasted the second tower with ease, the attack from the first he was anticipating never came. Aera took the opportunity to heal off the stun that had hit Machman, just as both towers started turning on their center points. The beams of light shooting out either end swept across the open space, until the ends that had been pointing down into the abyss were now shining straight on the RockCube.

...Fortunately, the beams of light were about as harmful as ordinary spotlights. But this was a very sure sign that the towers were charging up for a massive attack. Better deal with them fast!

Mach managed to avoid all but one of the attacks, but thanks to his SP's proactive useage of her debugging programs, his processes were largely unaffected. A small green bolt of lightning pierced through the violet cloud of miasma surrounding the Navi and sank into his chest, restoring a bit of his lost energy. A fragmented line of metallic plates followed close behind, but instead headed towards the Navi's poison-spewing shield, lining its face with a couple additional layers of armor. Thanks to Mach's enhanced targeting software, his vision was largely un-obscured by the miasma surrounding him. He saw the towers start to tilt on their axis, pointing towards the rockcube instead of vertically. Whatever they were preparing to do, it wasn't good. With a silent command, Mach ordered his decoys towards the towers. They obeyed dutifully, aggressively arcing towards the towers and wove spiral paths around the towers like a pair of angry insects. Aera and Vector noticed the amount of light intensifying quickly, and prepared to abandon their impromptu bunker. Vector retaliated by flinging his arm horizontally towards the towers in an arc, causing pieces of his arm to hurtle towards them. Two fragments went towards the weaker of the two towers, while the third whipped towards its partner.

Mach's chest thrusters ignited, propelling the Navi backwards to put some distance between him and the towers. "Mazer, I'll need the Boomerang and MetaGel chips," the navi requested as he jetted backwards. Mazer responded by slotting in the requested chips, giving Mach a notification of their successful upload. In less than a couple seconds, Mach had the boomerang chip data ready to go, gripping the curved green metal blade in his right hand, still wielding the PoisonMask shield in his left. He aimed towards the right-most tower before throwing the weapon. His arm whipped down with a sharp overhand throw, releasing the boomerang with enough rotational speed to make it appear more like a blurred disk. The boomerang sang as it sliced through the air, causing the rolling wisps of violet miasma to twist and curl from the vortexes left behind. The boomerang made a wide banking turn to the left, hopefully striking the first StarTower on its way out, then slicing through the second on its return trip.

Mach's wing thrusters kicked on, propelling the Navi to the side quickly, moving him in a semi-circular path away from the towers. Once the boomerang got closer to Mach, it fragmented and started to disappear, leaving only a faint trail of flickering data upon reaching the Navi. Mach glanced skyward, activating his second chip above the towers. Thanks to their now diagonal formations, the rapidly bloating globs of ooze had a clear shot from above. They fell as quickly as they appeared, attempting to splatter over the towers and coat them with caustic sludge.

With MachMan out of the line of fire, Aera took the opportunity to unleash a barrage of electrical power upon the towers. Three white-hot lightning bolts blasted from her open hands and surged towards the towers, resulting in several explosions of light and electrical discharges. The piercing booms from the SP-generated electrical storm drowned out even the sound of Mach's engines. Mach sent a voice-only message to Mazer digitally to request more chips, "I'll try to mop them up with a cannonball and the rest of our DashAttacks." To date, Mazer believed this was the only time the Navi actually had to use all three of his seemingly signature speed-centric chips. He slotted the chips quickly, giving a thumbs up through a small pop-up window that hovered just ahead of Mach's face before closing.

Aera, not entirely finished with her assault, dropped her left arm as she stepped forward with her right leg, turning her body perpendicular to the right-most StarTower. Her body was rippling with energy, some residual from her electrical bolts, but the rest was being generated within her own slender body. Unseen to all, a rapidly extending "beam" of magnetic energy shot forth from her outstretched hand towards the tower. As soon as it connects, the magnetism would act as a channel for an even more powerful bolt of electricity to flow through it. This bolt appeared unstable, thus needing the channel to keep it on target as it flashed towards the tower.

The light of Aera's electrical deluge shone even through the inky haze of miasma being steadily pumped out by the shield, flickering off Mach's armor. He felt the cannonball become solid in his right hand, prompting him to cock his right arm back in preparation to throw, drawing the shield forward to face the tower head-on. Checking his aim one last time, his thrusters kicked on over his body to keep him fixed in the air before throwing a fastball towards the midsection of the strongest tower. Though the ball was made of a dense material and completely solid, Mach was able to throw it with ease. Having launched his final ranged attack, he moved his shield back in front of his body before rolling to the right several times with the help of his thrusters. He moved quickly not only to avoid any potential counterattacks, but also to complete the 90degree semicircular path he "drew" from his original position, lining up the towers in front of him.

The "painted" face on the PoisonMask seemed to cackle as it continued to billow violet miasma, obscuring Mach's body as he started to take a more horizontal position behind the shield. Using his enhanced perception function, he "saw" through the shield to make sure he was pointed directly at the towers ahead. His wings pointed directly behind the Navi, splaying out at a 45 degree angle and priming their thrusters with a high-pitched whine and a cyan glow. A faint chuckle emerged from behind the shield before the Navi darted forward with a flash of cyan followed by the shrieking roar of his thrusters going full tilt. The miasma being pumped out from the shield left a wispy trail behind the Navi. In what seemed like a blink of an eye, Mach cut a straight path from one side of the grand hall to the other and headed straight towards the wall. His wings flipped to face the other direction as Mach swung the heavy shield over his head, causing his body to flip around to face the opposite direction and snap to a halt thanks to the smaller thrusters on his chest and feet. The wing boosters continued to burn brightly, bringing the Navi to a stop almost immediately before he rapidly began to accelerate, retracing his previous path as he attempted to blast his way through both of the towers a second time.

The towers' other weapon programs went silent as they focused all of their energy into charging up. Decoys buzzing around it? Ignored. Navi with a big shield in between them? Also ignored. Support program shooting at it, taking down its shields? It would be gone soon anyway. Not a priority. They just kept charging, even while attacks continued to hit them and drop them into critical health range. It was only when the other support program popped out to attack that the towers finally unloaded their charge. It was too late for one of them, though. As Aera started hitting the more damaged of the two with lightning, the built up charge went out of control. Explosions erupted from inside the twisted metal structure, replacing all the lights within with fire and smoke. Finally, the ends blew apart, the beacons shining from its poles vanished, and the remains of the tower started sinking into the abyss below.

The other tower, however, managed to survive the onslaught and fired a massive white beam in both directions. The RockCube directly in its path crumbled under the attack, but the beam continued, striking both Aera and Vector. Aera's remaining shields couldn't stand up to the attack at all, providing her no protection from it. But, because one of the towers had already been destroyed beforehand, both support programs survived the attack.

The remaining Star Tower remained in the same position as the beam faded, and resumed firing area saturation shots in all directions while attacks continued to hit it. Finally it too collapsed under the onslaught. Rather than explode from within, though, the cannonball that finished it off struck the center of the tower and blew it in half. The two remaining pieces of the tower began sinking into the bottomless pit as well, now completely harmless

Unless it happened to land on something later.

Mach watched as the last tower, blasted in half by the cannonball, sank into the blackness below and left the team victorious. The poison-spewing shield fragmented and quickly disappeared as Mach floated down to the platform to his SPs. Both Aera and Vector had taken a significant blow from the tower, but they managed to survive the assault. Some of the body plates lining Vector's front appeared mildly seared, but seemed to take it in stride as he resumed scanning the room for other potential threats. Aera appeared to be slightly sunburned, and gingerly touched her face before reaching towards her bangs. She gasped slightly as she felt the singed and slightly curled edges of her bangs. Wha... that thing burned my hair! Aera exclaimed in frustration as she ran her fingers through her hair. Mach touched down ahead of her, Don't worry, looks like you just got a smidge overcooked. Nothing a little repair data can't fix, he said jokingly.

The SP responded by flicking her index finger towards Mach as he reached down to pick up a packet of zenny and battlechip data, prompting a hair-thin bolt of electricity to arc into the Navi. He flinched and stood bolt upright, almost dropping the spoils of the battle. He rubbed his back trying to sooth the partial numbness caused by the zap Haha... my bad. The data disappeared from his hand as it was uploaded into the PET, and Vector moved to gather up the bugfrags littering the floor. The team collected their rewards and looked out towards the center of the great hall. Mach looked over to his SPs and asked Want to keep going? I'd imagine there's more stuff back there. The SPs nodded, Yes sire, I am still able, Vector chimed in. Mach looked towards a pop up window that appeared off to the side, showing Mazer's face. [No issues here, just be a bit cautious for now until you three can sufficiently repair yourselves.] Mach responded with a thumbs up as the window closed.

Mach's wing thrusters primed, prompting Aera and Vector to do the same. With a natural synchronization, they jumped out over the void below, bounding towards the platforms. Kicking off again from said platforms, they propelled themselves towards the back wall of the grand hall, looking to see if there were any additional corridors or rooms to explore.

<(This is my first Rogue Net-mod, so please bear with me.)>

MachMan and company's adventures bring them into a strange room, gargantuan and perfectly cube-shaped, with a large square entrance in the centre of each wall; gravity seemed to pull the Navi and SPs from one wall to the next, allowing free movement around the inside of the box-room. One entrance, the group could see, would lead them back out into the standard Network, with the other four doors leading off to different directions in and around the strange space-fortress. Their choice on which hall to explore is quite abruptly taken away from them, upon hearing a loud, omni-directional voice blare out: [INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT!]

Heavy blast doors slam down over all six entrances, sealing the trio into the cube-room. The mystery-announcer blares out once again: [ELIMINATING INTRUDERS! ELIMINATING INTRUDERS!] A seven-sided polyhedron warps into existence in the epicentre of the room, beaming rays of light from each of its surfaces. From each ray, a virus beams into the room: four purple-skinned Invaders land on separate walls, scowling down at MachMan and company. Joining them are three Megalian heads, shrouded in sunshine-yellow auras as they drift in the empty space filling the room.

The polyhedron, its task finished, blips back out of existence like it had never been there to begin with, leaving the viruses to bear down on the MachBros. The time for fighting is now!

=USING INVADERS TO DEFEAT INTRUDERS?!=
=BATTLE #6: BEGIN!!=
The trio continued to scour the great hall, and managed to find a door. It seemed a bit out of place, as it was perfectly rectangular and had zero features other than a perfectly flat, metal face. "Hm, lets see where this leads." With a light touch, the door slid open, revealing a large room ahead. Mach peered inside, noting its lack of features, and a significant drop to the room's floor. He gestured inside, making a slight hop into the room. However, instead of dropping to the floor below, he found himself getting yanked backwards towards the entrance. He kicked on his thrusters to prevent himself from falling out of the room, and reoriented his feet down to the wall through which he entered. He landed just to the side of the doorway, looking down past his feet to his perplexed SPs below. "The uh... gravity seems to be a bit off... here," Mach stated as he reached down through the doorway with an outstretched hand. Aera took it, and the Navi lifted his SP through, depositing her on the floor. He reached down to boost Vector instead, but the fractal SP elected to fling his body up and over the lip of the doorway like a slinky. He reconfigured himself, and joined the other two as they looked down at their point of origin. It appeared gravity had shifted from one axis to another, as the horizontal door they entered was now a quite vertical hole in the floor. ["That is just bizarre, like fun house bizarre,"] Mazer chimed in, having watched his team's confused entry into the room. Aera looked around the room, and seemed more entertained than confused.

"I guess we'd run into something like this sooner or la-" the SP was cut short by a shrill announcement and the rapid appearance of several viruses as the door closed beneath them. A quartet were perched on the walls around them, while another three floated in the center of the room near the now disappeared polyhedron. The trio stiffened up as their associated wings/thrusters/blades moved into combat positions. A bright flash of green emanated from Aera, her body was flooded by recovery subroutines, repairing her programming and restoring energy. She also raised several layers of protective shielding along with her allies. Before the green light faded from her body, a bolt of similarly colored lightning arced to Vector, giving him a surge of power as well. Not to leave her command Navi out in the cold, she summoned a plate-sized adhesive IV pack and tossed it to Mach, causing it to adhere to his back and start to administer a steady flow of recovery energy.

While Aera applied the IV and Vector reinforced his own shields with additional layers of plating, Mach's decoy drones materialized and activated their projectors, producing two identical copies of the Navi. With a silent command, the decoys rocketed upwards towards the center of the room before splitting off like a pair of fighter jets. They dashed towards the Invaders on the opposite sides of the room, aggressively taking passes at the viruses. "Mazer, send me a Boomerang and BambooSword ASAP!" the Navi said urgently. Mazer, who had seen everything transpire, was already holding his chip clip at the ready. He popped the two chips from the vertical shelf-like container and slotted them through the PET. ["Chips uploaded, don't bunch up, or those Megalians smash you all to pieces!"] Mazer warned. MachMan nodded in affirmation, gripping the freshly formed green boomerang in his right hand. He cocked his arm back in preparation to throw, prompting his enhanced perception targeting program to come online. A yellow arc appeared in his vision, tracing from the boomerang to a projected return point, showing where the boomerang *should* go when thrown at that particular angle. He adjusted his orientation and arm angle slightly to warp the path to pierce through the Invaders ahead, causing a red triangle to appear over them. In the course of a second, all three were targeted, prompting the Navi to fling the boomerang with a vertically overhand throw. The boomerang buzzed through the air, looking like a blurred green disk as it carved through the air in a wide arc. Since the boomerang utilized its wing-like shape to form its flight path, hopefully the lack of gravity wouldn't foul its performance.

After throwing the boomerang, Mach's thrusters kicked on to send him strafing to the left, barely touching the ground with his feet. Aera and Vector also darted away from their previously huddled position, trying to spread themselves apart and hopefully deny the viruses a big target to hit simultaneously. The boomerang buzzed back towards MachMan, and he opened his right hand, putting it in the yellow circle that indicated the location of the boomerang's projected capture point. Upon securing the chevron-shaped weapon, it fragmented quickly before clumping around his hand, forming a blue and orange saber hilt, complete with a curved hand guard. With a click of his finger, a plume of green plasma erupted from the handle before tightening into a crisp form of a straight double-edged blade. Mach widened his stance as he swung the blade out to his side, expecting a Magalian or two to have repositioned themselves to face the Navi with the intent to launch their battery ram-like heads. If they did, Mach would deliver a wide, lighting fast slash in an attempt to counter their assault.

Aera slid to a stop and quickly charged her capacitors to the point of overload. She extended both of her arms to the Invader perched on the rear wall with intend to direct the blast to come to her target. With that, her capacitors overloaded with a bright flash of light, nearly drowning out her body in a dense ball of electrical discharge. Though unseen, a pulse of EM energy blasted towards the mean-looking virus with intent to scramble its cognitive functions. The flash reflected brightly off Vector's metal body, causing the SP to briefly shimmer almost like a disco ball. However, the flash left Vector undeterred from his task of flinging a spear-like formation of interlocked mental blades towards the Megalian with the clearest line of fire. With pesky gravity being a no-show, the spear would fly true like a metal laser, restricted only by "air" resistance.

Mach's beam saber remained active as he glanced back over the battlefield to find the next suitable target. Even under the best circumstance, the Megalians would still need dealing with. The boosters on his wing thrusters whined in a rapidly increasing pitch, accompanied by a brightly intensifying cyan glow. The sound immediately cut out with a bright cyan flash, causing the Navi to blur into nothingness, only to immediately reappear to directly behind the aura-veiled body of the 2nd Megalian. With an intense, cold glare, Mach swung the saber towards the virus in a downward diagonal slash, leaving a glowing green glow faintly trailing behind the energy blade. There was still at least one other Megalian still active, and it was most likely re-materializing directly behind the Navi. "Counter!" Mach yelled before his thrusters barked loudly to send him strafing to the side and hopefully out of the path of any attacks. Mazer responded quickly and slotted in the requested chip, prompting his Navi's right arm to blossom into a massive, yellow, armored GutFist.

Vector threw another spear at his target as Mach waited for something to attack as his wing and body thrusters kept him airborne, though he appeared to require much less force to remain in the air while being in the center of the room. The unfortunate aggressor would be "thanked" with a brutally fast right straight directly at its face, delivering a punch to hopefully stop it in its tracks or even reduce it into a rapidly dispersing cloud of junk data.

((I spoke with Sage, who has gotten very life-busy recently, and have his blessing on giving this a go. As always, if I've messed up anywhere, please let me know.))

It's hard to catch MachMan and crew off guard, it seems. The moment the alert goes out, all three of them hit battle-stations in unison, raising shields and giving heals. Mach's decoys zip off to annoy the wall-bound invaders, who both begin to back away from such a sudden onslaught, watching.

This keeps them busy for a moment, as Mach lines up his shot, but when one of the decoys makes its pass a little too well, passing a blow clean through its target, both Invaders exchange a quick, bloodshot glance and realise they've been had. They both disregard the decoys and turn their slow backing off into full-out movement, retreating to the ceiling. Seeing its comrades go up, the Invader in front slides down the wall just as quickly, moving to join the base-dwelling intruders.

Unfortunately for MachMan, this means that while his aim is perfectly true with the boomerang, even compensating neatly for moving targets with his throw, it's only the first Invader in his sights that gets cleft neatly in two. By the time it reaches the other two targets, they have managed to move out of its destructive path.

While all this was going on, something more worrisome was taking place behind them, on the back wall. The fourth Invader had watched their initial defences carefully, and identified what it thought was the greatest threat. The healer was the key, apparently; get the healer first! There was a fairly good chance that this is what its high-pitched viral screech would have translated into as it pointed down towards Aera, gesturing repeatedly with one outstretched arm. It continued to point, tracing with her as both the navi and his SPs all dodged quickly away from each other and spread out.

It was too much to hope that the Invader was simply screeching at itself. The Megalian group turned to listen, then each of them darted into alignment around the poor girl, preparing to strike.

MachMan, meanwhile, catches his Boomerang with a neat show of skill and prepares for his next attack, dodging away to the side. This proves a wise action, as the one invader remaining on the ceiling above him blasts a potent, brain-powered bolt directly down at the spot where he had been only a moment before. It fizzles harmlessly on the panels below.

Moving on instinct, Mach already has his BambooSword out and swinging at exactly where one might perfectly expect the Megalians to be if they'd decided to attack him. Alas, having been directed to Aera, now a fair distance apart from him due to their mutual splitting up, only one of the three ends up actually being in range of his weapon. That one does have its aura destroyed, and takes a solid thrashing to boot, however.

Despite the looming threat of some serious head-butts, Aera retaliates against the Invader that singled her out, blasting it with a confusing electromagnetic pulse that briefly lights up the cube. It cops the pulse clean in the face and reels madly, putting its small hands over its eyes. It must be particularly nasty for something with a brain that size.

The one attack is all she has time for, before the Megalians begin launching their heads at her. She manages to dodge the first one, but the second strike connects, shattering her shielding completely. Caught short and exposed, it's only by pure luck that the third Megalian's shot goes wildly off the mark... Or maybe MachMan's thrashing had left it disoriented?

Either way, It's still in the process of pulling its head back in when Vector, with an almost casual precision, skewers it from across the room and causes it to disintegrate quickly.

The boldest Invader should probably have made its move faster. Having dropped down to the base level, in front of the trio, its brain pulses as it prepares a bolt of energy to fire at MachMan. The shot itself is good, but all it hits is the air where Mach had been, and then the panel behind as the navi himself teleports away at the last moment. This was good news for Mach, and bad news for the Megalian he had just taken the back of; it receives a very direct slice that pierces its aura and very nearly destroys it. The 'very nearly' is made more conclusive as Vector follows up his navi's assault with a second spear, finishing this one off just like the first.

Mach calls for his counter chip, but as he does the Invader that Aera had zapped was clutching at its over-sized head. It screams, throwing its head back and bathing the entire chamber in a dazzling, disorienting light burst, not dissimilar in effect to the bolt it had been struck with before, leaving everyone, virus, navi and SPs alike, in a temporary state of confusion. Strangely enough, it seems to be the most confused of all, and launches an electrical ray from its forehead... it looks like it was probably aimed at Aera, but only vaguely. It dissipates harmlessly on the wall panels a short way from her.

Then Mach receives and readies his Counter, though it come in a hair too late to save himself a case of the dizzies. On the bright side, Aera's IV has been healing him gradually this whole time, and is still firmly affixed and functioning.

The big headed Invader viruses saw through the decoys, and proved to be much more mobile than previously thought. However, Mach and the crew did have better luck with the Megalians, leaving only a single one remaining. Mach started to formulate what he'd do next, but his train of thought was promptly derailed by a blinding burst of light. His eyes seemed to overload, causing everything to go dark for a moment before his vision returned, albeit many areas in his field of view were blurry and spotty. He even felt like he was losing his balance, further worsening his disorientation. From what he could see, Aera and Vector weren't fairing much better either.

Aera was alternating between squinting and opening her eyes wide, trying to re-cage her bearings and relocate her comrades. Hopefully her recovery systems weren't rendered inoperable by the blast, and would provide her at least some healing energy. "What... what's going on?" she wobbly inquired. Vector also wondered the same thing, as he was attempting to keep his body plates in their proper places. Mazer didn't seem to be affected by the digital flash-bang that went off, and was glad his screen didn't lose a pixel or two from the extreme brightness. ["I'm not sure, but it looks like your cognitive functions took a major shock. Aera, try using your debug program to help Mach out,"] he suggested. Aera nodded, and tried to locate her Navi. If she was successful, she would activate a cleansing program, causing several white rings of light to course up from the Navi's feet and over his entire body. The data was designed to sequentially reboot, repair, and cleanse program subroutines, hopefully clearing up the errors/glitches inflicted upon the Navi.

The white rings begin, certainly, but they remained focused around her instead. Her confusion clears up quite quickly, enough that she promptly realises what went wrong. Oh well.

Nearby, The lone remaining Megalian is still eyeing her, shaky though it seems. It dodges to the side, either forgetting, or completely not noticing that there's a rather insistent wall there, blocking it. The crash is quite embarrassing for all concerned. It's not the only one to react badly, however... The other two Invaders, on the top and base of the cube, are both hunched over, hands on their over-sized brains as the confusion works on them. Oh dear...

Environment: MachMan and co. have entered into a cube-shaped room; imagine that the side they entered through is the 'bottom'. From their original orientation upon entering 'up' into the cube, the four side-walls are designated front, back, left, and right; directly above them is the 'top' wall. Gravity orients to each wall separately, and characters may move onto any adjacent side of the cube, however, Movement to any adjacent wall takes 1 action.
While her restorative programs did function correctly, unfortunately they activated on her own programming as opposed to her Navi's. She quickly achieved mental clarity, and her situational awareness was restored. Upon noticing this, she realized her targeting was off. "Mazer, I accidentally applied it to myself," the SP confessed. Mazer was hoping Mach could get back in the game and mop up the viruses while they too appeared to be incapacitated, but there may still be another way. ["Don't worry about it. Mach, I'm going to send you all of our summoning chips, they should be able to do the fighting for you! Otherwise, stay defensive and keep on your toes, we need your shields to hold out,"] Mazer exclaimed as he started to slot a trio of chips into the PET.

Vector, who had decided to brace himself as opposed to attempting to counter attack, took Mazer's cue to send a series of shield like body plates to the outer layer of Mach's energy shields, to further bolster the Navi's defenses. Aera noticed the Megalian crashing near her position, before looking up at the Invader above. She had a MagBolt1 preset, so she thought she could attempt to use it's stun and magnetic pull to pluck the virus from its perch down to their level. She didn't have very many options left, so she decided to go for it. Her wings splayed outwards at the ready before she pointed her right arm skyward to the Invader hanging from the ceiling. An invisible wave of magnetic energy emanated from her arm with the hope of capturing the virus. With the help of her wing thrusters boosting upwards to keep her anchored, a good yank *should* be enough to pull the virus from its perch down to her level, delivering an incapacitating shock as it got in range.

After employing her Magbolt chip, she followed up by firing a pair of electrical bolts from her hands in quick succession towards the virus. The lightning burned a pure white as it ripped through the air towards the virus with a loud thunderclap, exploding in a ball of electrical discharge. If she managed to pull her target down to the floor near her, she might have been able to catch the Megalian in the blasts as well.

As Aera engaged her electrical assault on the viruses, Mach got the notification of a chip upload. He attempted to activate the chip, which would cause a small orange and blue aircraft to materialize in the air above him. The newly formed FighterPlane looked similar to Mach's own aircraft form, but instead of triple-barreled vulcans the FighterPlane had a pair of single-barreled cannons mounted on each of its wing routes. The aircraft autonomously flew ahead before altering its flight path to get on a strafing profile on the Invader on their base level. Immediately after getting wings-level on its intercept course and on proper gun run angle, the two cannons growling as they fired a quick burst of rounds towards the virus before breaking off and preparing for another run.

After summoning a wingman to help deliver fire (as well as provide an additional target to draw off enemy attacks), the Navi shifted his focus, attempting to detect any incoming attacks and try to avoid them with a quick, boost-augmented sidestep if his Counter was no longer active. His second priority was to execute said maneuver without falling flat on his face. Vector continued to steel himself for any incoming attacks, trying to shrug off the enemy counters as well as stay out the others' way.

Mach received a second chip upload, this time a Rock Cube. He activated this one as well, causing a large cube of stone to rise up from the floor ahead of him, providing the Navi marginal protection from attacks. Unfortunately the battlefield allowed for the viruses to reposition themselves nearly anywhere to get a good firing angle. He tried to put his back to the cube to at least lower the chances of getting hit in the back, his fractal SP doing the same, but to a different side of the cube. The the third chip was at the ready, prompting the Navi to summon it as well. Another object rose up from the ground, but this one took the shape of a metallic "Knight" chess piece. While it took the same shape as the game piece, it was massive compared to the object of its inspiration, dwarfing MachMan easily. The massive piece's eyes glowed red momentarily before it rocketed up and over both the Mach and Vector. As it started to get caught in the gravity field directed towards the back wall, it pitched back 90 degress to point its circular base directly above the Invader, hopefully slamming down on it with crushing force.

With no more chips available for him to use safely, the Navi tried his best to look out for incoming attacks and try to avoid them to the best of his ability. Vector also tried his best to brace for any counterattacks, shifting his plates to best overlap over eachother to steel his body.

Unwilling to risk any major mis-targeting, the slightly befuddled members of the party go defensive, however one of their number has clearer thoughts and clearer intentions. Aera looks up at the Invader on the ceiling, readying her Magbolt, and the Invader looks right back, clutching its head and starting with bloodshot eyes. It doesn't try to avoid the sudden magnetic force, but makes rather unfortunate use of it instead, launching a bolt of energy as she grabs it. Despite the virus' reeling eyes, the bolt itself is unerringly accurate; perhaps the magnetic pull helped guide it in? Either way, as well as pulling the brainy annoyance off the ceiling, and crashign to ground near her, Aera also gets painful armful of electrical energy as well.

The shock courses through her and lances out of her back, but the bolt dissipates into the ether before reaching either Mach or Vector (Aera -50). As the only clear-thinking lady in the room, Aera shrugs this off and releases two more pulses of energy at her downed target, just as the Megalian, above attempts to ram her again. A few things happen at once: Fortune to Aera, the Megalian's aim seems to end up shooting more towards its Invader ally. Alas, it's aim is also rotten. Attacking just then does expose its vulnerable head to the full brunt of her electrical flares, but there's an unexpected third flare of bright, dazzling light amidst her two, and this one washes over everyone indiscriminately, sowing confusion onto confusion. That clear thinking was nice while it lasted.

When the light fades again, The Megalian is, very unsteadily, pulling itself together, and looking even more shaky than before. Area herself is dazzled again, but at least the Invader's brain-scrambling flash had proved to be its last.

More towards the centre of the room, MachMan had managed to avoid having his confusion worsened, thanks to his I-field, and started to set his 'fighting-by-proxy' plan into action. Any moment now. Yep... now... For a brief moment that seemed like forever, there seemed to be a problem with actually activating the AirRaid chip, but then, suddenly, the little Fighter-Plane materialised and began its attack run, to the relief of navi and SPs alike, most likely.

Free of its summoning Navi's disorientation, it makes a very impressive and direct attack run on the ground-level Invader, missing with only a single shot for its entire strafe. The Invader in question had meant to dodge out of the way, but somewhere in its huge and hugely confused brain, 'dodge out of the way' became 'stand straight and spread your arms'. It screamed as it took the full brunt of the fire-power, and its brain pulsed, crackling, but rather than the expected flash of confusing light, there was a sort of... fizzle, then a localised flash of energy exploded in front of its own eyes, and no-one else's.

Badly damaged and reeling from its own bedazlement, the beleagured Invader manages to send a bolt of electricity searing towards the only target in its vision at the moment. This happened to be Mach, who was... reeling drunkenly? No, dancing! No... Ah! Was that.. dodging? Whatever the case, it was not enough to avoid the bolt of electricity, but the ever-prepared navi had more tricks up his sleeve. The bolt struck his I-Field, triggering the chips short-range teleport and putting Mach right in perfect position to deliver a very final punch to the unlucky Invader.

The lightning bolt itself arced across to Vector, nearby, weakening his shielding by a notch, but didn't quite have enough juice to make it all the way to Aera.

Done with swift retribution, Mach summoned his next ally, a nice and protective RockCube. Didn't he? Uhhh... RockCube? Please? It wasn't showing up. Somewhere along the way the data had gotten sufficiently muddled to prevent it summoning correctly at all. While he struggled to activate the confused data that just wouldn't come, the last remaining Invader, still perched on the back wall, was struggling with a double-dose of confusion, and then some, and had more or less all ability to think tactically at all. It went with it's last major objective, which was to try and remove the program that had started off by healing everyone. It tried to anyway. Its pulsing brain crackled with energy, but at first, all it amounted to was a spark-puff that made the Invader reel back. When it tried again, it didn't realise that its vision had shifted, and the shot it had meant to aim at Aera blistered off towards Vector instead. It knocked another plate off his shields, but as the bolt arced towards MachMan, the navi had enough reaction time to get clear before it hit him.

His third summon went much more smoothly, and the giant Knight, seemingly quite comfortable with the shifting gravity, crashed down on top of the Invader with a very satisfying crunch. The virus pulled itself out from under the weighty object, still dazed and muttering darkly, but looking decidedly worse for wear.

((Note: Brace occurs automatically whenever your SP uses defend, BUT, keep in mind, it only triggers once per turn. With all those shields it didn't matter much here, however, Vector defended three times, while only one of those three was actually 'Braced'))
Though Mach's attempt to summon some cover failed, he was able to successfully add more allies to the battle, who helped level the playing field to great effect. Yet another flash temporarily drowned out the area with light, cutting Aera's period of lucidity short. Luckily for Mach, his protective I-field from his Counter Chip allowed his subroutines to fully recover without interruption. As for Vector... it was a miracle he was still standing up. Aera attempted to summon an IV for herself, and adhere it to her abdomen, as well as use some of her leftover energy to try and mitigated some of the damage she sustained.

Knowing his SPs were vulnerable, and the Megalian was still in a prime position to attack, Mach reacted quickly to hopefully beat the virus to the punch. He hopped into the air, aided by his wing thrusters to go airborne as he pointed his right arm towards the aura-shrowded virus. Glowing data materialized under his forearm, rapidly assembling into a three-barreled minigun, backed by a blue drum magazine. A trigger assembly swung up from the top of the weapon into Mach's waiting hand, and the barrel assembly began to spool up with a high pitched whine. With his vision back to 100%, Mach was able to quickly acquire his target, placing a targetting pipper right on the Megalian's position. He smoothly pulled the trigger, causing the whine to be drowned out by the frenzied roar of the weapon firing a steady stream of armor-piercing rounds down range. The minigun's barrels started to glow an orange/red, mimicking the color of the tracers drawing a straight line to the ground below.

Though his burst was fairly limited, Mach continued to stay perched in the air, moving as needed to keep the Megalian firmly under his crosshairs until his ammunition was depleted. The weapon died down and fragmented away as Mach called down to his SPs. "Aera, take cover with Vector! You two stay put for now." Mach shifted his attention to the Invader on the back wall, quickly forming a battle plan. "I'll need a RageClaw and DashAttack2, please," the Navi requested. ["You got it!"] Mazer responded, and popped the requested chips from his magazine before he started slotting them through the PET. If Aera comprehended the Navi's instruction, she would have attempted to move to Vector and tried to huddle down next to him. Vector tried to stay put and steel himself, as there wasn't much else he could do in his current state.

Mach's thrusters began to glow in preparation to teleport as he sent a command to the FighterPlane buzzing around the battlefield. The aircraft was ordered to provide close air support for the two SPs, with it's primary target being the Megalian. If the virus wasn't already sufficiently perforated by Mach's previous attack, it's twin cannons could be enough to finish the job. However, it would not fire if the Megalian got too close to the SPs to safely engage. Mach rolled to the left in an attempt to shake off any locks before he disappeared in a flash of cyan light. He quickly reappeared behind the Invader, with his right hand raised in preparation to strike. His fingers quickly stretched and twisted into a set of wickedly curved, sharpened claws, then delivered a quick downward slash towards the virus. He then attempted to somersault over the virus, swiping his claws towards the virus a second time as he passed over its rather large head.

After touching down, his hand started to revert to its default configuration and Mach looked back towards his SPs. It was still a bit odd to have to look almost vertically to see his allies, which to him looked like they were crawling on the wall. He boost jumped diagonally towards the wall, letting his body to flip backwards 90 degrees to hopefully land firmly on the wall, and stay there thanks to the wonky gravity. With the Navi back on the base level, the Knight had permission to re-engage its target, hopping up before slamming back down hopefully over top of the Invader.

If by some grace of the NetGods the Megalian survived both barrages, Mach took a ready position to again defend his SPs. Once he had a clear line to the virus, he committed to his attack and started to dash towards it. His wing thrusters lit off, propelling the Navi forward and leaving a glowing cyan trail behind, providing constant acceleration. A shockwave formed around Mach's front, blanketing the navi in a veil of highly compressed air, which would feel like a battering ram to anything caught in his path. After passing through the Megalian's position, his thrusters would have cut off before reversing directions and redirecting thrust forward in an attempt to prevent from smacking into the opposite wall.
