Mach & Company's Flight in Sharo

((Since "junctions" are now just fluff, don't exactly know if they still require an action to perform))

As the Mets started to scatter, the three immediately turned around and saw the two groups of viruses that faced them. Mach sized up the enemy force as he raised his protective shields; Aera did the same. Several sensor drones materialized behind Mach and quickly darted to different locations over the battlefield.
6 viruses identified! Requesting Magbomb, Magbolt, LavaCannon, and DoublePanel chips, please.

Mazer quickly slid the requested chips out of his clip and inserted them into his PET in rapid succession.
[Chips uploaded! Engage!]

Mach turned to Aera and Vector, and quickly gave them the battle plan.
Aera, engage the shrimpy viruses and stay on your toes. Vector, protect Aera.

Aera nodded as pieces of Vector's armor started to separate from his body and moved towards her layer of protective shielding.
Please hold still for a moment, M'lady.

Vector's entire body fragmented and started to orbit around Aera's body like a cloud of navy blue blades before they started to secure themselves on her body. Aera closed her eyes as Vector's armor quickly moved into place. She could feel the coolness of Vector's body, but felt nearly no pressure, and absolutely no pain as he formed into an extra suit of armor. Her chest was covered in a layer of Vector's armor that extended from her waist to just over half-way over her bust, while it extended only up to just underneath her shoulder blades in the back like an armored corset. Her shoulders were covered in small but angular armored plates that stretched a few inches over her unarmored upper arms. Her forearms were reinforced with additional armor which extended over the backs of her hands and ended with a sharp point. She felt the handle of the silver mattock rest in her left hand, and held on as Vector continued to armor her body. Her thighs were also unarmored, but she was equipped with a pair of angular greaves which covered her lower legs from just above the knee to her ankles, while her feet were reinforced with additional metal plates that pointed sharply outwards past her toes.

Additional armor congregated around her waist before they started to connect to each other and formed a flexible, armored skirt that extended over her unarmored thighs and ended with a serrated pattern. Finally, a few more plates attached to her ear pylons and slid over her eyes like an angular visor. Aera opened her eyes as Vector spoke.
I shall be your armor, M'lady. I will not let you down.

Aera didn't have time to look over her new appearance, she immediately focused on the viruses ahead. Though she had metal plates covering her eyes, she could somehow see through them as if they weren't there. The joints of the armor started to crackle with electricity as she charged up a large amount of power and pointed her armored right arm towards the right Shrimpy. Electricity flowed into her arm and leaped from her pointed forearm armor towards the Shrimpy with a bright flash and an air-rending crack

As Aera was armored up, then engaged the virus, Mach's decoys materialized next to him and generated their holographic projections before they darted away diagonally from Mach's position. Mach saw the Megalian virus approaching quickly and noted the odd aura being emitted by the floating head.
{Hm... let's see how it reacts to several thousand volts}
Mach took a step forward with his left foot before he quickly followed up by thrusting his right arm forward as he opened his hand. A large bolt of electricity flashed from his hand and surged towards the Megalian. The large floating head virus was not alone, and was flanked by two Shrimpy viruses. Well, not for long. Even with his hand still crackling from the electricity, Mach dove his hands into the ground in front of him before he lifted and literally tore two panels out of the ground. The snow helped keep the panels propped up as he stood them up like a pair of doors before he pointed both of his hands at the bare undersides of the panels. Both hands quickly changed into MachBusters, and very rapidly charged up before they both discharged a concussive blast that sent both panels hurtling towards the Shrimpy viruses.

With the panels away, Mach then shifted his focus towards the second Shrimpy, which would have very likely survived the hurtling panel. He pointed his right arm towards the shrimpy as his arm transformed into a heavy-duty version of his MachBuster. The buster was covered in vents and had an extended barrel with what appeared to be a suction fan on its underside. The end of an extend-able hose surrounded the fan, but it didn't seem to have any use whatsoever. Mach aimed his cannon at the Shrimpy as the vents started to glow a bright orange just before he pulled the trigger. The buster went off with a loud boom and sent a burning mass of molten rock towards the Shrimpy, leaving a black trail of smoke as it soared through the air.

Hopefully with the first wave destroyed, Mach shifted his focus to the second group of viruses that were approaching his location. Mach gripped a freshly-formed orb in his hand, and tapped into the overwatch drone network that had spread over the battlefield. Using several visual feeds, he determined exactly how far away his targets were, and using his internal computer and basic physics, he knew exactly how much speed the orb needed be traveling, and at what angle it needed to be thrown. With that data in mind, plus the direction of the viruses, he cocked his arm back before he threw the dynamo-covered sphere over towards the viruses approaching. Before the Magbomb hit the snow, it exploded and covered the immediate area with a blue, gelatinous fluid. Within the fluid were thousands of small wires, all connected to the capacitor that was housed in the bomb's core. The capacitor discharged through the wires, which in turn inundated the entire area covered by the fluid with a paralyzing series of shocks.

After he threw the Magbomb, a saucer-shaped object formed next to Mach. He was surprised to see the Catcher chip activated, and was about to speak to Mazer before he was cut off by his NetOp's voice.
[Since they are stunned, might as well see if we can "borrow" some of their attacks.]
Mach slightly bobbed his head to the side in a "hm, he's right" expression as he watched the UFO-shaped program sprout a pair of comically large hands and zipped over to the viruses ahead.

Machman's group raised their defenses just in time for bullet hell to begin, as every Shrimpy2 on the field started firing bubble blasts. They attacked one after the other as the groups of viruses weaved side to side dizzyingly. It wouldn't have been so bad, perhaps, had the virii's attacks not multiplied in number every time a bubble impacted upon the least little thing. Machman, Aera, and Vector found themselves caught in a storm of bubbler blasts, sometimes firing blindly in response as clouds of bubbles and their own protective shielding, flashing with every hit, got in the way.

The barrage slackened a bit as one of the Shrimpy2s finally took enough damage to fall, and a second was stunned by the blast of a magbomb that had seemed to explode much closer to Machman than it should have. Both Megalians were nowhere to be seen, presumably deleted in the exchange, but so were Mach's decoys and the majority of their defenses. Aera had had it the worst. She'd taken a single direct hit that had knocked her HP to critical in one go, and now lay on the ground separated from Vector while she recovered from a suddenly aborted EJO.

These viruses were a lot stronger than their normal network counterparts. Luckily, there were now fewer of them.

Aera was literally knocked away from Vector and was sprawled on her back in the snow. Her undershirt prevented her from EJO, but she was barely hanging on. Her body didn't show much damage; it was the pressure from the blasts that did the most damage. She struggled to breathe for a few seconds due to the wind knocked out of her, but she started to speak.
*cough* ...I'm alright... Ow...

As she gingerly touched her body to brush off some of the snow, little green sparks rippled over her skin and started to repair some of the damage inflicted. She still felt sore, but felt a great deal better than a few seconds before. Mach sighed in relief to see she was okay, while Vector stood baffled that he took no damage while Aera was nearly EJO'd.

Alright, it's getting a bit dicey out here, time to change strategy.

Machman scooped Aera up in his arms as he started to float into the air. He rolled forward and his body started to spread several metal plates and smooth metal surfaces that slid and rotated into place around him. In less than a couple seconds, Mach had completed his transformation into MachFighter form, with Aera safe in the cockpit.

[Vector, get on and armor up.]
Yes sire!

Vectors body completely fragmented and moved over Mach's newly formed frame while additional fragments moved around Mach's still active energy shield. Mach was hovering just a few feet above the snow and kicked up a decent cloud of the white water crystal data, but quickly dispersed the cloud with a loud burst of armor-piercing rounds from his mounted vulcans. The pair of triple-barreled chain guns were trained on the closest Shrimpy, and provided more than enough firepower to literally tear the virus to pieces. Mach's nosecone then pierced the outer wall of the settling cloud of snow as he started to advance on the pair of Shrimpy viruses ahead. A pair of his decoys materialized next to him and quickly adopted his appearance before they flanked his sides and followed like a pair of wingmen. However, they quickly accelerated past the Machfighter and started to flank the pair of shrimpys in an attempt to force them close to eachother.

As Mach ran out of ammunition, the vulcans retreated to their respective weapon blisters and Mach started to accelerate rapidly. His quad plasma-thrust engines burned brightly and sent him speeding towards the single Shrimpy's position and blasted over it, leaving a large "rooster tail" of snow behind him as he continued to accelerate. Aera was pressed into the back of her seat, which gave her a nice mix of excitement from watching the snowy floor rush beneath her, and pain from her previously sustained injuries. She gasped quietly as she weathered the pressure. Mach adjusted his control surfaces to slightly change his trajectory enough to send him barreling over the shrimpy's positions. The stunned shrimpy would be no problem to hit, but the other would be a bit more... problematic.

Aera had gathered enough energy to create an effective charge, and as Machman charged forward, she sent a pulse of electricity through the MachFighter's frame and sent the bolt coursing out of the MachFighter's nose and straight towards the Shrimpy. The bolts literally traveled at the speed of light, so they had no trouble outrunning even the MachFighter. Hopefully the decoys managed to keep the Shrimpys contained, and could have been easily sacrificed as Mach cruised over the Shrimpy's positions like a rocket-powered blade.

Turning into MachFighter form, Machman sprang into action as a flurry of boolets smashed through the Shrimpy in front. The rear Shrimpy took the chance to blast out some sick bubbles, but they were thwarted by various amounts of shielding. And so everything died due to either plasma-induced bursts of speed or just plain plasma.

Mach's charge took down the viruses in a flash, and they were then alone on the battlefield. Mach hovered for a few moments before his body started to fold back down into his default form, with Aera in his arms and Vector floating around him like a cloud of blades. Vector reformed into his normal appearance and ran a few feet off to the side, where he retrieved his silver mattock from the snow. As he returned to the group, he saw Mach ease Aera to her feet and checked her over as she moved her hands over her chest and abdomen.
I'm fine, really! I just got a little knocked around, that's all.
Well, alright then. Thank goodness Mazer put that regeneration program in, otherwise you'd still be gasping for breath.

Vector started to absorb bugfrags as he continued to approach the pair, and saw Mach reach down and pick up some zenny and battlechip data.
Though that barrage was really something, they weren't too tough...

Mach started to look around, as if he was trying to find something on the horizon.
I wonder where those Metools went. They retreated in a hurry, and I didn't see them during the battle, so they are probably okay.
Could we look for them, just in case?

Machman looked over to Vector, who nodded and replied.
I shall follow.
Alright then, let's see if we can find them. I know they initially retreated in that direction, so let's see if we can find tracks and try to locate them.

Aera nodded with a smile as she took Mach's hand. The pair started to float over the snow as they moved ahead, while Vector easily cut through the snow in a brisk walk next to them.

((Ready for Battle #3 / Attempt to locate Metools))
Mach, Aera, and Vector glided over the snow until they found tracks that were almost completely covered but indicated the general direction the Metools were going.

--

A while later, the trio stopped to take a break. When, suddenly, viruses! It seemed the trio wandered into their territory and that chances on retreat were very slim.

I guess you'll have to break through.

-BATTLE 3-
-START-
The trio eventually entered a forested area in an attempt to follow the Mets' tracks. However, they quickly realized they were being followed, then found their only route forward was also blocked. The three started to slow their advance as they became more and more aware of the situation. Aera continued to recharge her energy and use some to repair her programming while saving the rest for more destructive uses.

Mazer, we're surrounded and pinned in a relatively small lateral space. Requesting Doubleshot and both DashAttack chips.

Mazer responded as he quickly inserted the requested chips.
[Chips uploaded! They are more trapped than you are, unless they can fly as well. Take out those Penguins first!]

Understood. Vector, hold Aera tight. I'll be back momentarily
Vector reacted immediately by fragmenting his body and descending upon Aera. His mattock disappeared into data, which was quickly absorbed into one of his larger bod plates. Vector was a flurry of metal as he reinforced Aera's still body with his own. Electricity ricocheted amongst Vector's body plates as they secured themselves; Aera was already at a near electrical overload. Mach stood with his arms crossed with his back to the Penga viruses as his wings snapped into position, splayed out with their thrust nozzles facing forward. Mach's brow was furrowed as the thrusters on his wings started to glow cyan and emit a high-pitched whine.

Don't blink.

The entire area very briefly flashed cyan as his engines went off at full power and kicked up a very large wave of snow in front of him. Vector dug his armor into the ground to hold Aera in place as they were buffeted by the snow. Panels of snow were ripped from the floor by the force of the blast and were sent hurtling towards the ColdBear viruses ahead like a pair of massive snowballs. Mach's engines roared as he careened towards the viruses. As soon as he took off, his body spun 180 degrees to face the viruses he was charging, yet another advantage of wings not physically connected to his body. He lined up the viruses ahead of him as he lowered his shoulder and continued to accelerate. He had to go through their position at full speed, or they would attack and literally freeze him in his tracks. He streaked through the air like a blue and orange beam and left a long cyan trail behind him.

As Machman engaged the Pengy viruses, Aera turned her attention to the bear-like viruses ahead. She was protected by Vector's now snow-covered armor, and had more than enough energy to bring the fight to her enemy. By this time, there were increasingly large discharges of electricity leaping from different parts of her body; her internal capacitors were on the verge of complete overload. She extended her reinforced arms in front of her and pointed her spear-like forearm armor towards the virus blocking the path on the right. Bolts of electricity arced between her arms as they started to glow brightly and hiss with electricity. The light and sound quickly intensified before it was drowned out by an explosion of electricity centered on Aera. Though the blast of electrical power was impressive, the actual attack was the completely invisible pulse that rippled towards the ColdBear virus. If it hit, the ColdBear's cognitive and motor functions could become so scrambled that the virus would become more of a threat to the others than to Mach and his SPs.

Mach had already passed through the Pengy group as he saw the flash of Aera's attack. He then quickly blurred out of sight, only to reappear almost immediately just a few feet ahead, but facing in the opposite direction. However, he was already at full speed and charged through the Pengy viruses' location without even pausing, as if he bounced off an invisible wall without losing any momentum. The very rapid change in direction created yet another blast of snow behind him. He blasted through the viral ranks again without losing speed, and hopefully before the Pengys could even turn around to see what just attacked them. As Mach made his return approach, Aera used some of her remaining energy to activate a protective shield around her, which was then reinforced by some of Vector's armored plating.

[Vector! Prepare for pickup!]

Vector responded to Mach's wireless message immediately and sprouted a pair of hook-like braces from Aera's shoulders and chest that swung open from the back. Aera didn't notice Vector's minor armor change, since she was distracted by the bolt of electricity she sent rocketing towards the ColdBear blocking the left path. Mach was almost at their position, and had a pair of his decoy drones secured in his hands. They were already programed and just waited for Mach to start their combat routine by letting go. Mach tried to make a complete stop very quickly as his thrusters faced forward and slowed him down rapidly. As soon as he got close to Aera's back, he released the decoys that instantly created two decoys of the armored Aera attached to Mach's chest. Mach touched his chest to Aera's back, which triggered the braces Vector created to swing down and clamp down on his shoulders and waist to effectively secure Aera to Mach's chest. Aera made a quick gasp and started to blush as she felt Mach's chest and abs make contact with her back. She was amount to speak, but Mach had already pointed his thrusters down and blasted the two SPs and himself up into the air. The two decoys immediately split off in opposite directions in near perfect timing with Mach's in an attempt to make the illusion of Mach and his SPs splitting into three units: one advancing towards the ColdBears, one retreating towards the Pengys, and the last going almost straight up.

Hold on tight!

Vector responded by applying more pressure to the clamps, which were on the verge of becoming painful to Mach. He shifted his focus from the uncomfortable clamps to Aera and reached down to take her hands in his. Aera continued to blush as she intertwined her fingers with his and held tight. Her eyes were obscured by the visor created by Vector's armor, but her face was a getting a little flushed. Mach couldn't see her face, and continued to climb higher above the treeline. He reached his target height but continued to move quickly in the air. He didn't know if the viruses had any sort of anti-air capabilities, but he didn't want to find out the hard way. He leveled out and fired his thrusters in bursts to send him swerving and strafing in the sky above the viruses.

Patching up some of her wounds, Aera let Vector protect her as Machman blasted into the skies with a powerful blast of his engines, smashing against the ColdBears' icecubes they had just generated, stopping them in their tracks. Afterwards, one of them found themselves being blasted with a sudden pulse of electrical charge, causing it to spin around rather comically. She also put up a shield to deal with their attacks.

Meanwhile, Mach was dashing into the Penga group with reckless abandon, disregarding their poorly-aimed ice blasts, and hit two of them spot-on like a high-speed bulldozer. Teleporting the other way, the penguins were completely overwhelmed yet again by another charge. He then picked up Aera and Vector on his way back just when the ColdBears started to throw their cubes yet again, which thankfully missed as they instead targeted the decoys. That, and they had crappy aiming.

Mach huffed in disappointment as he saw the snow clear and noticed only 1 of the Penga viruses was deleted by his attacks. He leveled out as he formulated a new plan to try and take out the viruses once and for all.

Requesting Magbolt, ElecPulse, and ElecShock chips.

Mazer nodded in agreement as he slipped in the chips. He was giving his Navi more than enough electrical power to blast these aqua-based viruses to oblivion.
[Chips uploaded. Take them out, Mach.]

Aera continued to recharge her energy and repair her rapidly healing body. The soothing feeling of the regenerative data accompanying the feeling of Mach's body pressed against hers and her fingers intertwined with his caused her to close her eyes. If this wasn't a battlefield, she could have believed she was in total bliss. She then felt a weird tingling sensation go across her arm and enter her right hand. She opened her eyes to see her hand sparking with an unfamiliar electrical energy. She tried to turn her head to look at Mach.
That's the Magbolt battlechip data. I want you to take out those remaining Pengas with that chip, coupled with your own power. You've seen me use it before, so it should be fairly straight forward for you. Vector, I'm going to drop you two from a good height. Guide her to the target.

Vector's red eye appeared on a metal plate on the back of Aera's head and looked directly at Mach.
Understood, sire.
With his previous decoys destroyed, another pair of decoy drones appeared at Mach's sides. Their projectors flickered as they warmed up and received Mach's orders.
Alright, Aera. You ready? I'm leaving those Pengas to you.
Aera was still feeling a bit... woozy, but replied as Mach started to let go of her hands.
I'm ready when you are, Mach~ <3

Mach raised an eyebrow as he heard Aera's somewhat odd tone. However, she seemed to be okay, and Vector was protecting her, so he continued with the plan.
Alright, ready... release!
Vector popped the braces from Mach's shoulders and waist and allowed Aera and himself slowly fall away from Mach. Aera started to roll over to her back in the air, and just managed to catch a glimpse of him before he blurred out of sight. She smiled as she turned back over, and replayed the image in her head of Mach winking at her before he teleported away. The two decoys formerly at his side split up, one plummeted towards the ColdBears while the other followed Aera and Vector as they fell.

Mach nearly instantly reappeared behind the ColdBear blocking the left path. His right arm was drawn back and almost exploding with electricity, while his wings had dropped from his back and were paired up at his sides and rapidly charging plasma. He didn't want to give the virus even a second to react and jabbed his fist forward as he opened his hand. A cone-shaped maelstrom of electricity burst from his hand and blasted the area with millions of volts of electricity, which appeared like rapidly expanding yellow halos ringing the outer border of the attack. Just as his electrical attack was about to lose power, his wing pairs unleashed their charged plasma at the ColdBear virus at close range with a loud roar. Mach was nearly drowned out by the light of the attacks, and the snow-tipped trees were tinged in red as the beams surged past before they rapidly lost power.

Aera was also illuminated by the brief crimson glow just as the decoy following them assumed her armored form. Vector assisted Aera in making fine adjustments of his armored plates to guide them in a smooth glide path towards the Pengas. Aera's two small wings had their thrusters ready and waiting to push her upright and slow her descent.
M'lady, are you alright? You seem to have something on your mind.
Aera was still thinking of Mach, but the rushing air and the imminent fight below helped bring her back into focus.
Don't worry, I'm alright. Just thinking about how I'm going to deal with these viruses. Well, time to fight!

The pair had almost reached the ground and Aera's wing thrusters went to full thrust to stop her descent. She slowed little as she skimmed over the snow towards the Pengy viruses. Her decoy bolted in front of her and started to zip between the viruses and try to get behind them, all with the hopes to throw off their focus. Aera kicked up snow as her feet just barely scraped the powdery top of the snow. She brought her right arm back as electricity jumped over her shoulder to her hand. As she was about to pass the Penga, she thrust her arm forward and fired a bright bolt of electricity towards the Penquin-themed virus. Since she was floating in the air, she had no resistance with the ground and started to rotate counter-clockwise. She crouched down as she got the second Penga in her sights. She rotated almost 180 degrees rather quickly before she thrust her left leg outwards towards the virus. Her thrusters fired just before her leg pointed directly at the virus, so the residual rotational inertia wouldn't put her kick off target. Electricity arced between the ball of her foot and the long, pointed heel like the prongs of a stun-gun with a furious buzz. Though her foot appeared to be the source of the electricity, nearly her entire leg was electrified, and even a glancing blow should have been enough to discharge all of the stored electricity into the target.

She swung her leg back down as she faced her last target, the final Penga. It was time for her to use the chip Mach gave her, and drew both of her open hands back as they buzzed with power. She then thrust them forward towards the virus, her thumbs almost touching. A long stream of electricity flowed towards the Penga, and this particular bolt was capable of not only paralyzing the target, but also creating a magnetic "leash" which Aera would hold. She then clasped her hands together as if she was securing the target and lifted them up, almost over her head. She then drove her hands down quickly like a martial artist's "hammer strike." With any luck, magnetic connection may have reacted in such a way to drive the Penga into the ground, or even created a wave-like movement and send the Penga into the air briefly before smashing it into the ground.

Aera could feel the armor covering her body tense up as Vector braced for a counter-attack and prepared to protect Aera with his own body. As Aera made her electrical assault, Mach leaped into the air and flipped a couple times before he "landed" a few feet behind the second ColdBear. This time his left hand was drawn back, but it seemed to crackle with the same intensity as his previous attack. He sent his arm forward and opened his hand to release a rapidly expanding blast of electrical discharges like an over-charged Tesla Coil. The bolts leaped from his hand and struck anything that was close, including the snow below, which tore holes in the terrain and created jagged lines in the snow where the bolts carved their paths in the floor.

Aera's systems began their repair processes as Machman dropped both his support programs down to ground level. The decoys proved to be a powerful asset as they distracted the Pengas and ColdBears. One of the bears hurled its hefty icecube at Machman, while the other tried to throw things randomly in a few places. The icecube was deftly evaded with a quick burst of speed, and the ColdBear properly punished with electrical shocking, and was hurled into the distance. The other bear got its fair share of shocking material as well.

Meanwhile, Aera was dealing with the Penga threat, and doing a pretty good job of it. Their ice attacks bounced off her shield quite harmlessly, with one hit taken by Vector (45), and she executed all of them quite efficiently.

Aera easily destroyed the Penga viruses and emerged relatively unscathed. Vector took a hit in the process, but Aera started to transfer energy to Vector to help his armor regenerate. He didn't react, mainly due to his amazement with Aera's very smooth, efficient form in which she dispatched the viruses.

Machman, who was on the opposite end of the battlefield, still had two rather dangerous viruses in front of him, and he had to dispatch them quickly.
Mach, requesting Shockwave and Cannonball chips!
Mazer quickly passed the chips through the PET's battlechip receiver and sent them down to Machman.
[Chips uploaded!]

Mach reacted to the new presence of the chips by slamming his right leg to the ground, which sent a rippling shockwave that kicked up a line of snow as it churned towards the heavily damaged ColdBear. As soon as the shockwave was away, Mach raised his protective shields and clutched a newly formed iron ball in his hand. He knew the second ColdBear would form yet another IceCube that could possibly protect itself from attack, so Mach had his wing thrusters kick on and send him flying into the air. He held the cannonball tight as he waited for the ColdBear to form another IceCube. His thrusters were ready to fire at full thrust to send him hurtling to the side in case the ColdBear chucked the cube at him. As soon as he saw his opening, he chucked the cannonball with an overhand throw. The dense ball of iron should have been more than enough to finish the virus and end the battle.

None of these hit, of course, but the Cannonball didn't hit anything useful neither. Just smashed up some block happening to be there to be blasted to lil' shards.

Mach blinked as he saw his cannonball smash through a cube of ice and leave his target completely unharmed.
[Hm, that virus is quite stubborn.]
Requesting LavaCannon and Magnum chips. Its stubbornness will not stand against raw firepower.

Mazer inserted the requested chips as Aera dashed through the snow to get within range of the ColdBear. She saw Mach floating off to the side and preparing to attack, so she did the same and started to charge power. Machman pointed both of his arms towards the ColdBear as a pair of large weapons materialized over them. His right supported a large gunmetal black magnum cannon, while his left was replaced with a reinforced, vent-covered MachBuster. The slide for the magnum slid back as a magnum round was loaded, while the end of the lavacannon's barrel started to glow orange from the molten lava projectile waiting to be launched. He pointed both barrels at the ColdBear and fired them simultaneously. Both weapons had a nearly equal amount of recoil, but the Magnum's loud explosive boom drowned out the deep "fwoosh" sound of the LavaCannon. Mach was pushed back a couple feet by the recoil as the pair of explosive projectiles rocketed towards his target and exploded.

As if on cue, Aera watched Mach's attacks hurtle towards the ColdBear and responded by sending a concentrated bolt of lightning at the ColdBear. The bolt tore through the air at a blistering speed with a loud *CRACK*. Aera had the pointed armor on her left forearm pointed directly towards the virus and hopefully had a clear shot to finally bring the hulking virus down.

-ROGUE BATTLE THREE, VICTORY!!-

Rewards: 2500z, 58 BugFrags
The virus fell under the barrage of fire, and Mach touched down a few feet from the smoldering crater that stood in its place.

Told you.

He spotted something shiny in the snow, and after brushing the snow away he discovered a rather large packet of zenny data. He picked it up and watched it disappear as it was downloaded into the PET. Aera floated over to Machman and stopped a few feet from his side. He turned to her and appeared to smile under his mask.

Excellent job out there, Aera. I saw you take down those three Pengas in a flash, that was really impressive!

Aera blushed and put her hands on her hips as she slightly swayed from side to side.
Hee hee, it was easy!
And excellent reaction time, Vector. Any sort of hesitation would have put us in a load of trouble, but you reacted decisively.

Vector's red eye appeared on the metal plates covering Aera's chest, just below her bust.
Thank you, sire.

A trail of bugfrags lifted out of the snow and slowly floated towards Aera's armored body and were absorbed into Vector's armored plates. Mach then started to look around to see if he could see any remnants of the Metools' trail. Unfortunately, he couldn't see a single trace of the Metools.
Hm... I can't see any sort of evidence of the Metools' presence... I think we should just continue forward and take the path off to the right.
[Yeah, the amount of snow kicked up by the battle on top of the steady snowfall would cover up any tracks they may have left behind.]

Aera nodded and floated next to Mach and started to head down the right path. Vector remained fastened to Aera, he was a bit wary of the woods and didn't want to be caught off guard by a possible ambush.

((Continue down Right path/ Ready for Battle #4))
The right path didn't remain a path for long; an enormous lake, complete with large chunks of ice, spread across the area it led to. However, three were immediately attention grabbing: they had viruses on them. The nearest contained two shadow-like viruses, with razor sharp arms. A floe behind it had three gun batteries. Flaming gun batteries, no less. And behind that, two satellites crackling with electricity seemed to be circling. It was difficult to see what they were revolving around, with its small size and interfering viruses...but it seemed to be diamond shaped, and green. And fairly shiny.

====VIRUS SECURITY IS NEVER REAL SECURITY====
++++COMMENCE BATTLE!++++
The three stood on the shore with a flotilla of ice flow-riding viruses facing them. Mach immediately recognized all three types of viruses facing him; he had encountered these types of viruses before, and knew exactly what was needed to take them down. Aera continued to channel restorative energies into Vector's body through her own as Mach raised a powerful energy shield over himself. Vector bolstered Mach's defense by sending several armored plates over to Mach's body and acted as an additional layer of shielding.

Aera, pulse those Blackmares, and keep moving. Requesting RockCube, Catcher, and Blizzard chips, Mazer.

Aera nodded and began to charge her internal capacitors as Mazer passed the trio of chips through the PET and returned them to his chip holder.
[Chips uploaded. Focus fire on the Smashers, they are your biggest threat right now. Use your decoys to distract the other two groups as you eliminate those cannons.]

Understood
As Mach put his hand over the ground in front of him, Aera had reached full charge and put her arms out in front of herself. Bolts of electricity leaped from one armored arm to the other and continued to arc at an exponentially increasing frequency. Her arms pointed directly towards the closest Blackmare and the electrical charge surrounding her body overloaded before her entire body was covered in a spectacular discharge of electricity. The entire right side of Mach's body turned near-white from the incredible flash, and the rising cube of rock made a very long shadow on the snow behind it. The flash of electricity was only brief, and the invisible pulse of electromagnetic energy was sent towards the shadowy virus at an incredible speed.

The stone cube rumbled to a stop and stood nearly 7 feet tall in front of Mach. Mach turned to Aera as a trio of floating objects materialized next to him.
Put this cube between you and those flying satellite viruses. They should start orbiting it once they get close, just like on Aegir's ship during that mission. Just stay back so you don't get hit as they orbit.

As Mach spoke, the three objects completely formed. Two of them were his decoys, and the third was the UFO-shaped object associated with the catcher battle program. Two beady eyes looked at Mach, and after Mach glanced back to meet its gaze, two comically large hands appeared out of its saucer-shaped body and saluted him before it zipped towards the other Blackmare to hopefully steal its battle data for later use. The decoy closest to Mach adopted his appearance and darted out from behind the RockCube to harass the Blackmares. The other did not activate its holo-projectors and flew over the RockCube towards the Sparkler viruses.

Mach clenched his right fist as he blurred out of sight. The decoy flew out over the water and paused about 20 feet in front of the RockCube before it activated its projectors and created an image of several cubes of stone stacked on each other, almost like a pillar sticking out of the water. The decoy was deployed there to possibly cause one of the Sparklers to treat it as an obstacle and orbit around it. Mach reappeared directly above the Smasher viruses with his open left hand extended towards the viruses, while his right fist was cocked back as if he was about to throw a "hay-maker straight." His fist was crusted with a thin layer of ice, and it seemed to shimmer like glass in the sunlight as mist oozed around it. He then rotated his entire upper torso as he thrust his fist down towards the viruses and opened his hand. A torrent of super-cooled air erupted from his hand with a blustery howl and created a white cone of ice and wind that pummeled the area with ice particles and freezing temperatures.

Aera followed Mach's orders and retreated behind the RockCube, but she moved back several meters before she stopped and raised her shields as she waited for the viruses to make their move. Mach's freezing attack lasted only a couple seconds before the winds from his hand died down. As soon as the battlechip's power was depleted, his wing thrusters slammed into full throttle and sent him skyward in a diagonal climb. Mach tried to keep his eyes on the ground as he performed an aileron roll before he stopped off canter by 45 degrees and angled up into a wide, offset loop. The move was aerodynamically unsound, but with no threat of wing-shear or stalling, he could execute the move without difficulty.

Armor. Shields. That was how the trio of unviruses began their deadly assault on their foes. While highly non-damaging, it was, in fact, good against anything the viruses could conjure. Which was immediately put to the test as a Smasher let off a pair of powerful fiery blasts. The first proved to be well short of the group, but the second happened to nail all three, leaving the SPs in tatters as their Navi simply shrugged it off with his thick shielding. It also left the shore in...less than tip-top condition, so to speak.

Now it was their turn to strike. Despite her being on the brink of EJO, Aera moved over to a Blackmare and magnetized it into becoming severely disoriented. It tried to punish the Support Program with its blade, but the assault proved to be highly futile as it couldn't even distinguish which way was up. MachMan then proceeded to place a stone cube into the path of the Sparkler, but since the satellites were highly content to spin around the green diamond, it did little aside from existing and breaking up some of the scenery monotony. Or at least, it would've, if the area in front of MachMan wasn't a giant hole, causing it to fall right in. The object decoy similarly failed in its purpose, as the green viruses were more interested in the other green object than the opponents.

The MachMan decoy, on the other hand, proved to work wonders, as the more lucid Blackmare focused its attention solely on it, preparing to strike...only to be shocked into inaction as its own data was stolen by a RedUFO, granting the Navi a strange WideSword-like weapon for use in the near future. But for the time being, the speedy Navi...sped...over to the triple barreled monster guns, and attempted to freeze them into submission. Luckily, due to their immobility, it proved to be a fairly easy task. He then proceeded to perform some aerial acrobatics, but between the Blackmares' altered mental states and the Sparklers' apparent obsession with the green diamond, it did little aside from looking impressive.

Aera and Vector were near-critically hit, but Aera managed to remain conscious and started to channel energy to Vector's heavily damaged body as she placed an IV pack on the exposed area on her back, just below her neck. She could feel the soothing warmth of the IV pack as it sent a steady stream of regenerative data through her body, which repaired her programming. Mach could see the status indicators for Aera and Vector (which appeared as two lit up bars located in the corner of his vision) flash red as they were damaged and left barely visible, but they started to steadily glow brighter to indicate they were being actively repaired.

Mach didn't have time to get distracted, he had 4 more viruses left on the battlefield, and he had to get rid of them quickly. The UFO zipped to his side and handed him a packet of data. Mach took it, and watched as the data materialized into a black jagged blade with glowing red etchings on its flat, reflection-less surface. No light seemed to escape the darkness of the blade, and the designs pulsated like a slow heartbeat. Mach swung the blade to his side, and noted the shadowy afterimage that followed the blade as it silently sliced through the air. Machs decoys adopted his image and zoomed towards the Blackmares to keep them occupied as Mach prepared his next attack.

[Mach, I think it's time to try out one of your new chips. It requires an area to summon, broken terrain in particular. Let's see what it does!]
Understood.

Mach flew back down to the shore where he once stood as the sword in his hand left an ink-like streak in the sky. He stopped a few inches from the ground as he extended his left hand over the broken terrain in front of him. He didn't know exactly what would happen, but he was excited to see what kind of power this chip contained. A little glowing bit of data materialized in front of Mach's hand before it dove into the broken terrain. Mach watched as it flashed once before it changed to a very dark purple as it expanded like an ink blot. The center started to spin, which caused the entire spot to twist into a near-black vortex. The jagged form of a Nightmare virus protruded from the vortex as it rose above the ground. Its single red eye locked on the blackmares before it disappeared in a puff of inky-black smoke. As it disappeared, Mach's engines kicked on and sent him over the water towards the Blackmares. The Nightmare reappeared in a similar puff of smoke, then delivered a very wide slash with a sharpened blade, which left a black crescent-shaped streak in the air for just a second or so.

The Nightmare then disappeared again as rapidly as it appeared, this time to reveal Machman on a collision course with the pair of shadowy viruses. He didn't slow down as he wielded the dark blade in his right hand and delivered a backhanded, perfectly horizontal slash towards the Blackmares as he flew between them. The blade quickly faded away like ink being washed away by water. Hopefully with the Blackmares out of the way, he could concentrate on the final two viruses on the battlefield. He saw the Sparklers rotating the crystal, which upon closer inspection revealed to be a mystery data.

Mazer, I have a confirmed visual of mystery data. However, it is actively guarded by two Satellite-series viruses. Requesting WoodSword to neutralize them.
[Chip uploaded! Stay out of the direct path of their orbits, and don't go overboard with the sword or you may damage the data.]
Understood.

Mach shifted directions in the air and zoomed over the water towards the mystery data, and the Sparklers orbiting it. He kicked up a small "rooster-tail" as he skimmed just inches over the water before he floated upright and slowed to a stop, just outside of the Sparklers' orbits. As he watched one of the Sparklers loop around the GMD and approach his position, he gripped his newly formed MachSaber in his right hand. A green flame burst forth from the hilt before it tightened into a somewhat broad, but extra sharp blade. As soon as the Sparkler got within range, he delivered a simple vertical slash down upon the floating virus in an attempt to cleanly cleave it in half. All he had to do next was wait for the second Sparkler to orbit back around to him, where he was ready to send a vertical slash upwards through the virus's spherical body like a knife through an orange.

The NightMare assault against the...BlackMares proved to be a big success as both virus received a clean cut through their torso and felt the taste of their own blade right after. But before one was able to get one cut on Mach's shield before it was deleted...if that made any difference. As MachMan was taking care of the rest of the viruses, Vector and Aera was slowly mending their wounds and gotten themselves out of a near-death situation.

The Sparklers, single minded as they are, paid little attention towards MachMan as he pulled out the WoodSword to cut them down one by one. However, they began to speed up a big and even managed to hit the navi twice against the shield. Fitted impatience and anger, MachMan began to cleave the orbiting viruses without a moment to lose, allowing him to be the victor of the battle.
