Inside the shop

Seemed pretty late for the shop to be open, but hey, if they made business off of it, then these store hours weren't so bad, were they?

A young boy came walking in; he browsed the shelves for a moment or two before picking out a combination of items that, while peculiar at best, would best fit his immediate needs. Or his Navi's, at least.

"Ready to check out."

He spread his items out on the counter. Looks like he came to this store with a plan. And he stuck to it quite nicely.

"Eh? Is there a customer...here..." Suitachi walked out of the back room, only to notice that someone had gone behind the counter to gather up their upgrades. Fortunately, he didn't freak out, since the boy seemed fully intent on paying. "...Ahem. Next time, wait for me to show up and get your upgrades for you. Customers going being the counter is strictly prohibited." It wasn't hard to see that he wanted to be a bit harsher, but he was restraining himself.

"Let's see...HPMemory...PowerUP......there. That'll be 4500z." Money given. "All right then. Have a nice day. And remember, no going around the counter next time. Or any time. Ever."
After taking a MetroLine ride she didn't want to take, Alda found herself in a shop she didn't particularly feel like. She really just wanted to get home and crash after her recent...experience, but it was either this, or wait until tomorrow night, when she still probably wouldn't feel like it.

Fortunately for she, she'd checked the online catalog on the way over, so she knew exactly what she wanted. "Um, hi. I'll take a NaviCust Expansion, and...two Process Upgrades." She readied her PET for a money transfer, wanting to just get the whole thing over with.

[Order of Purchase:
1-NaviCust Expansion #1 - 1000z
2-Process Upgrade #1 - 100z
3-Process Upgrade #2 - 200z
Total: 1300z

Previous Cash Total: 3205z
New Cash Total: 1905z
Suitachi walked up to the counter from a room in the back, holding a Bronco Burger in his hands and chewing on it while looking at the customer. "Sure," he said between eating the burger, "I'll get. Your things. In a moment." He then kneeled down behind the counter, vanishing from sight in order to 'look for the requested products'. But the rustle of someone looking for things wasn't heard, just the sound of someone eating. "Oh god, these are so good," was whispered from behind the counter, followed by a loud swallowing sound and the rustling of packaged products. "OK," Suitachi said as he stood up, ketchup still hanging from the side of his mouth. "That'll be..." he started and checked the Navi of his customer quickly, "1300." He held a handheld device near the PET for the transaction and pushed the products over to the girl. "Thanks for shopping at Suitachi's," he said with a smile and turned around to check his storage.

Alda [GET: NC#1, PU#1, PU#2; LOSE: 1300z]
"...Thanks." She wasn't trying to be rude or anything, but Alda was just exhausted after everything she'd done today. She simply picked her stuff up, waved, and left, to remedy that particular problem.
It was a strange twist of events that lead to Thomas being outside of Suitachi's shop. It felt like years he had been cooped up in his dorm room, virus busting and netbattling and doing missions with Regalia... and then the next moment he was here, feeling strangely awake.

He inspected his PET, trying to gauge what he had been doing before now, but his activity log had been cleared. His recent busting history abruptly ended as well... even Regalia seemed a little confused, and returned Thomas' concerned look with a pensive one.

But there was one thing he did know! He had 13,000 zenny to spend, and by gosh he was going to spend it!

The usual cling-a-ling-a-ling of Suitachi's door marked Thomas' entry, the groggy teenager stretching as he walked toward the desk. He sat his pet on the counter, then did some mental arithmetic.

"Right so, I need... a speed upgrade and two process upgrades, please."

((SPEED UPGRADE: 10,000Z
PROCESS UPGRADE X2: 1,300z, 1,400z
TOTAL: 12,700Z
))
"Hmm?" Suitachi looked up from a PET-generated hologram, down at the sleepy teenager looking for Navi parts. The older man frowned for a moment as he scrutinized Thomas' face, before shrugging and heading off to grab the respective parts. Spreading the installable upgrades out straight on the countertop, he passed it to the customer, sliding the zenny towards him.

For a moment, he thought to himself, before piping up, "Maybe it's not my place to say, but I implore you to make smart substance-use choices; that can't be good at your age." Clearly he'd misinterpreted Thomas' grogginess.

"You're right, Suitachi, I should drink more caffeine." Thomas nodded at the older man, gathered his things, then left the shop.
... Or maybe he was going shopping. It had occured to Mill in the MetroLine station at Beach Street that Anyis was going to be in a VERY foul mood when she woke up, and it would definitely be in his best interests to placate her as soon as possible. Thankfully that awful run through NervousMan's lab had granted Mill a decent amount of spare zenny, so Mill walked through the sliding doors of Suitachi's Navi Shop with the intent to buy upgrades and bribe Anyis into not being irate tomorrow.

"Oh, uh... Magna, you can transfer funds, right?" asked Mill into his PET, after realizing for about the 5th time since he left Rania that not having an active Navi in your PET complicated everyday affairs quite a lot.

"Affirmative, Operator." answered Magna with a nod. He had managed to patch up his energy leak on his own, so all the golem had left was body damage that wasn't posing any extra risk to himself or others. Magna had managed to get the MetroLine ticket to print after some extra coaxing of the Mr. Prog in charge of that, and authenticating the transfer of digital zenny shouldn't be any harder than that.

"That's good, wouldn't have wanted to overshoot our stop for nothing." replied Mill with a wry grin as he picked out a few memory upgrades off the shelf and proceeded to the counter.

(3250z + 3500z + 3750z + 4000z + 4250z = 18750z)
"Hey, wait a sec, you can't be...back...here..." Suitachi, upon seeing the upgrades resting on his counter without him having grabbed them, immediately went to call attention to the intruder behind his counter, only to realize the only person in the shop was standing right in front of him. His eyes twitched behind his glasses, flicking from the young man to the colourful shelves of merchandise to the glass countertop, also full of merchandise. "I can never remember where I put things..." he sighed, ringing the transaction through without any extra fuss.

"Uh... right, thanks." replied Mill with some confusion at Suitachi's confusion. He put his purchases and PET in his pockets... that he didn't have without his jacket, dangit. Met with even more confusion at his own jacket-less state and the lost storage capacity as a result, Mill just secured it all in his arms and walked out... confused.

(Actually Going Home)
"Wooooahhhh."

An eager-looking girl stepped through the sliding doors of Suitachi's Navi Shop, with eyes full of wonder that could only belong to a young child in a candy store. She shuffled over to the glass displays, showing some fancy new PET models on pedestals, with a myriad of upgrades everywhere else. She didn't know what most of the parts did, but luckily, there was an enormous promotional poster stuck near the front.

"Best Value! Speed Upgrade: Be a cut above the rest, and move at the speed of light! Starting at 5000z!" she recited, albeit with less vocal impact than the poster would have had. Her eyes lit up, and she took out the PET that housed BakerMan. "BakerMan! Do you think we can have enough money for that?!" she said enthusiastically as she pointed at the poster. The breaded Navi stretched his neck and read the poster out for himself.

"I don't 'sink Mizzus Judith would like me taking money for such a thing. Did you not 'ave a zenny card inside your own PET?" said BakerMan. "Oh yeah, I did get some money from battling those viruses, didn't I?" said Sofia, taking out the other PET and extracting its card. She pressed the button to display its current value, which read out a total of 6510 zenny.

"Wow, I have more than enough. Gotta buy some other stuff too!"

"Ah, wait--"

--

"Sigh..."

BakerMan sighed. His attempts to get Sofia not to spend her earned zenny all at once didn't seem to work very well, as the girl was adamant at "making Scourge stronger, so she wouldn't have to go through this thing again". At the very least, he assisted her in getting the most value out of her busting rewards with some BBS searching. "Mizzus Judith is going to 'ave my head..."

Meanwhile, Sofia held the zenny card in her hand and approached the counter. "Excuse me, can I have these things here?"

Unfortunately for Sofia, she wasn't going to get any personal service, as Suitachi had his PET next to his ear, like an old cell phone. "Yes...I know...I know!...I know." Quickly, he gathered up the upgrades, put them in a paper bag, and presented it, before taking a moment to swipe her zenny card. "Yes, I know! I. Know. I know!"

As he handed it back to her, however, he hit a button on the PET, and lowered it and sighed. "Hoo boy...to tell the truth? I don't have a clue..."

"U-Um... okay, thanks?" said Sofia, somewhat confused by the exchange of words over the phone. She took the upgrades from the counter and headed back to the place where she was previously. As much stuff as she had gotten, she'd had no idea how to use them. Maybe she could ask that nice man again.

Bruce ran out of the taxi, heading for Suitachi's shop. "Meter's running, Dare, you already know what you want?"

"Of course," Dare replied with a grin. "You know a Navi as fast as me is always two steps ahead. I've already done the math."

"Okay, well then, I'm gonna let you order." Bruce swung open the door, letting out a sigh as he realized it was just pure luck that had kept him from clobbering someone with his entrance. He made a beeline for the counter and held his PET to the shopkeeper.

"Suitachi!" Bruce's Navi shouted, "I want 2 HP Memories and 5 Process Upgrades! I think that'll come to 3750 zenny."

"And make it snappy if you don't mind, buddy," Bruce said, practically doing a jig as he appeared antsy to get back outside. "Taxi guy's got the meter running, so I'd appreciate it if you held off on the upsell for today!"

(1000z + 1250z for 2 HP upgrades
+ 400z + 500z for 2 process upgrades
= 3150z

Suitachi looked up from his newspaper. "Hey there, how's your day goi-oh..." his cheerful greeting petered off at Bruce's impatient outburst. "Are you sure I can't interest you in som-oh..." and once more he was cut off by Bruce pre-empting his upsell.

Shoulders drooped, Suitachi lifelessly took the PET from the stuntman's hand, installing the requested programs without another word, taking the Zenny and handing the PET back with the same lifelessness. "Have a good night," Suitachi gave a little wave, his vitality deprived of yet another rushed shopper.

Bruce wasn't the kind of guy who got any pleasure out of deflating someone just trying to do their job, but between making amends for bro guilt and beating the meter, he had to go where the money was. "You too, man! Keep on doin' what you're doin'. Bruce pointed both fingers at him, then grabbed his upgrades and made for the door.
