A swan across a lake

((Pirouette Jacked in, from -> Mikhail's Home))
----

A small bead of light appeared no far from one of the main transfer hubs and grew rapidly into a swirling white oval of energy. It came with a fluttering sound, spinning faster and faster, until the bubble burst in a soft shower of long, white swan feathers. In its place, amongst the falling flecks of white, Pirouette let her arms drop and relaxed her wings, stepping forward from her commencement pose. She paused to look around, getting her bearings, then began to move forward.

"I believe I am in the right location, Mikhail... though there is still some ways to go from here, if I am right." She kept her eyes on her surroundings as she dashed forward, light on her toes. In her ear, Mikhail took a sip of his coffee before responding.
"Indeed, little one. Stay alert as you go now, yes?"
"I will!" she knew full well that the more open areas of most nets were far from safe for unprepared travelers, but as much as she wasn't incredibly skilled or practiced in dealing with such threats, Pirouette was still confident in what abilities she did have. She pressed on towards her destination.

((Ready for Battle 1))
As Pirouette came into the Netopian network towards the seminar location, she followed the main road, which was the main throughway of most Navis walking through the area. The path she was supposed to take took her to a branch of the main path, which was brilliantly decorated on either side with sparkly Holy panels in a checkerboard pattern. As she came through, however, she heard a strange pinging sound, played to a lilting melody. Inspection would reveal a pair of black Melody viruses, hopping on the decorated pattern, each following the other in sync to some kind of song. Accompanying them were a pair of grey-armored Swordy, which seemed happy to float along, bobbing their heads to the tune that the Melody were playing. However, as soon as Pirouette came in, the Swordy sensed her approach, and swung back to meet her gaze, brandishing their purple energy swords in response. The Melody also stopped hopping, and bounced in place to observe what would happen, while the Swordy both yelled out in a loud viral screech.

The sound of music caught Pirouette's ears as she ran, long strides leaving her toe points to barely graze the ground in between each step, but as it drew nearer, she pulled to a quick stop. Her head turned to one side as she looked at the procession cautiously, her wing tips raised high and tight. She knew what the viruses were, from times glancing at general public data bases, but the melodies were a type she'd never encountered before, herself, and they didn't seem directly hostile, at least not yet. She adopted a measured opening pose in front of them, one foot just in front of the other, on the ball of the lead foot, while the back touched only the toe behind it. She drew in along, measured breath as the two body-guards threatened, centring herself as she prepared to spring away.

"Your music, it is pleasant, and I have no quarrel with you. Do not strike at me, or it will go poorly for you all. This I can promise." She kept her voice level and firm as she issued the warning, but didn't back away from her readied post. If either of the Swordies decided to strike anyway, she would be ready, but a look at the Melodies made her want to give the group at least one chance to play nice.

"What have you found, dear? Do you need any assistance?" Mikhail's voice was curious, but not overly concerned, and she could imagine him glancing at the screen of the PET in between going through his notes. She gave a small shake of her head, though her eyes didn't waver.

"Not yet, but maybe soon, yes? There are some viruses here, but only some of them seem dangerous, others not. I wish to give them a chance before I delete them, you know?" She murmured the words quietly, though Mikhail would still hear. She thought she heard him sliding out the small attached tray that held battlechips, just in case.

"Alright, but perhaps this one, as a precaution for now, yes?" Despite her reassurance, she felt the data flow through to her, and resisted the urge to roll her eyes before letting it process. A small glow of light began just back and behind her head, before a double fan of long, white swan feathers unfurled into protective ward that looked like two wings folded over each other. It rested in the air just above her for now, like a back-set halo of feathers, serving only to protect her from unexpected rain fall, or random things falling from above, but her arms were free and raised neatly at chest height, and she would be able to grab the shield down and around swiftly if she turned out to need it. She left it hanging there for now, while she waited to see how the viruses responded.

As Pirouette made her proclamation of peace, the Swordy lowered their guard slightly, though one of them more so than the other, which was still poised to strike. As she brought up her Guard, it mistook her shield for offense, and rapidly dashed towards her with a flashy teleport to perform a rather hurried preemptive strike. Fortunately, the shield finished setting up just as the purple blade struck, reflecting its attack back towards it in a lightning-fast shockwave. Its comrade yelled out at it, though it didn't follow up on the attack, most likely because it had acted out on its own. The reflection caused it to be slightly disoriented, wobbling about in front of Pirouette's position.

Maintaining her poise, Pirouette held firm when the more jittery of the two swordies responded to her warning with a pre-emptive assault. It only took a slight twist of one wrist and the movement of the hand to cause the feathered shield to slide around from overhead and catch the incoming sword blow. The retaliation beam only hit the attacking swordy itself, thankfully, but as she the shield dissipated, Pirouette cast a firmer stare at it; her pose hadn't shifted an inch.

"You have been warned. I will not hesitate to remove you from the net, if you continue to show violent behaviour. This goes also for you all, yes?" Her eyes flicked across to the Swordy that hadn't attacked, then to the two melodies, before she stepped swiftly around the dazed virus and moved forward. Her steps remained on the balls of her feet, nimble and graceful, and more importantly, ready to dart out of the way if things did turn hostile, but when she drew near to the Melodies she paused again to look at them.

"If you wish to play, and you mean no harm, There is a place you may go. You would be safe there. From other navigators who would destroy you, you know? I have places I must go, but if you wish it, I can show you the way, yes?" She waited for a response form any of the viruses present, but so long as none of them continued in a hostile way, the ballerina fully intended to simply move on, one way or another.

Deep Breath: Cooling Down

The dancing Navi smoothly made her way across the area, presenting her peaceful solution to the rest of the viruses. The Melody tilted their heads slightly as she did so, but tentatively approached her with a few bounces, accompanied hesitatingly by the non-hostile Swordy. The Melody began to speak to one other in a lilting twitter, their pitch increasing over time until they were practically squeaking. Not long after, they bounced in front of Pirouette happily, while the Swordy reluctantly stood down about her, and nodded civilly without a word. The knight virus that had attacked her before extracted a data packet from within its armor (though how exactly was unknown, it didn't look like the armor had many openings) and handed it to Pirouette, bowing as it did so.

There was another still moment, before Pirouette was more certain that they weren't going to raise any further violence to her, as she smiled at the last, when the two melodies began bobbing up and down, and seemed eager to accept her offer of sanctuary. The swordies seemed less sold on the idea, but at least they weren't attacking her.

She didn't want to wait around too long, but quickly prepared a link for the pacified viruses, separating it into individual tokens to give to each of them and passing them out.
"These links, they will take you to a place where you will be treated well. you will be protected, too, yes? You do not need to go, if you do not wish to, of course. I must go now. Be sure you do not attack anyone else, either." When she'd handed out tokens to any of the viruses that looked like they might accept, she waved once more to them, then dashed onwards. There was still enough time for her to get there with room to spare, but it would probably be better if she didn't dally too long. The more hostile variety of viruses were always a threat, and there was no telling exactly how long any brief encounters with them might take.

((Moving on, ready for battle 2))

The Melody bounced off with the Swordy in tow, as Pirouette waved them goodbye. Moving on through the branch path, she followed the shining road towards her destination, where it rejoined with another main road. Unfortunately, there was a clear roadblock in her way. Three stuffed dummies, appearing to be made out of burlap sacks of some sort, were lined up in front of her, with cracked paneling all around them. Further in front, a gleaming line of Holy panels demarcated the cracked paneling area from an area where two metallic red spherical HotHead turrets resided, along with two accompanying floating Sparky satellite viruses.

One of the HotHead turret viruses opened up its mouth to fire a red-hot cannonball at the dummies, but the cannonball merely whizzed past them, as well as Pirouette. Fortunately, Pirouette wasn't hit by the shot, but a squeak behind her alerted her to one that was. A small Rush virus rubbed its head, and looked up at Pirouette. It then turned heel, almost about ready to escape. In addition, the missed shot caused all four of the viruses to notice her presence, which prompted the HotHead viruses to clam up, and the Sparky viruses to bolt for her position with reckless abandon.

For her own part, Pirouette was pleased to see the melodies take her up on the offer, and sent them off through the links provided with a small wave. In truth, she didn't know a great deal about the virus sanctuary, other than that it wasn't ready to open for tourists yet, but the information she'd read had seemed positive, and the fact that they accepted transmission of peaceful viruses from civilians was a good sign, she felt. Maybe one day she might get a chance to visit the place, when it opened up publicly.

Either way, she dashed quickly on her way, but it wasn't too much further before she was forced to come to a quick halt and review the situation again. To begin with, it looked mostly like the viruses here were training in some way — worrying, if they were destructive creatures as well, but she didn't want to jump to conclusions immediately.

"Mikhail, if I could please. The shield again, yes? I wish to..." A moment later her thought cut off as the viruses made their hostile intentions a bit clearer. Mikhail was already sending her the requested chip and she felt the glow of light form above her wings again, growing out into a fully formed shield formed of outward facing white feathers. She darted back a few extra paces and gestured with one hand, reaching up first then curling it around to the front with her palm facing outwards. The shield followed, sliding around her body to present forwards as it floated just slightly in front of the ballerina.

That done, the girl took a few extra moments to survey the rest of the field arrayed ahead of her; the smaller virus behind seemed only interested in getting away, so she let it be for now; it wasn't harming anyone. Instead, she set her stance more firmly, drawing in a long breath and letting it out slowly again as she prepared herself for another conflict. the on-rushing Spark viruses made it clear that negotiation was off the table this time. As she looked around, though, another potential problem caught her eye; the fixed shooting turrets, at the back, were too defensive for her to damage while they were shut, but the opportunity to get at them, when they were synchronised like that, wouldn't leave her long. A small grin curled at the edge of her lip and she shifted the shield aside just slightly, putting one foot ahead of the other and bending over. If she was judging it right, she had enough time to do this safely before the more aggressive ones reached her. Her free hand rose to her lips before she smiled more broadly, setting her sight on the right most HotHead.

"Sleep, little virus, and let time pass you by..." She turned her palm outwards and blew across it towards the virus, sending a slim trail of faintly glittering dust snaking towards it and curling around. In truth, Pirouette wasn't exactly certain that her favourite trick would work on a mechanical virus like that, but it was still a coded entity at its core, so she was hopeful.

Taking the less offensive approach, Pirouette started to set up a shield for herself out of white feathers, moving back slightly from the rushing Satellite viruses. Strength rose from within her as she waited patiently, sending a gust of magic dust towards one of the red turret-heads. It didn't look like it had much of an effect at first, though, as she saw the spherical Sparky viruses just a few steps in front of her. Fortunately, her patience paid off, as the Sparky came into close proximity with the target dummies, and appeared to be forcibly attracted to them. The satellites simply orbited the dummies in place, though with how fast they were still going, she would still likely run into them if she were to try getting past them towards the turret heads. Meanwhile, one of the turret heads seemed to have lost its patience with seeing and waiting, and opened its mouth, and a rumbling sound could be heard-- the same sound before it launched its attack! The Rush virus behind her saw the HotHead prepare for attack again, and disappeared into the ground to flee. The HotHead's partner seemed to have other ideas, however, its mouth still clamped shut. Maybe her sleep-inducing dust did work after all.

The Rush rushed and Pirouette paused. She held her pose as the two more mobile viruses came towards her, and were pulled into orbit around the training dummies, then smiled to herself with one small curl at the edge of her lips. A couple of light, graceful steps put herself in a good line between the threatening turret behind, and the viruses that were now stuck, just in front, and she twisted her leading hand around and outwards towards them, bringing the shield to bear in the right position and focusing her energy upon it and bracing her stance to give the shield the most reflect strength that it could handle. She knew how this particular chip reacted to being hit, so if she lined it up and timed things correctly...

Summary

P1) Feint (lining up one or both of the Sparkies with the HotHead that is about to fire — this is a movement assist, but not a dodge in the case of the HotHead that is about to fire - she is actively -trying- to move in an assisting way and make sure the predicted shot meets her shield — Yes, I am aware it's a Break attack. Pirouette is not... yet.)
P*) Strengthen 40 added to Guard1 if its reflect is triggered.

((Turn Splice after one action. Three actions remaining.))
Attempting to line up her reflector shield with the HotHead's attack, Pirouette moved into range of the virus's attack and raised her feathery defense up high. Unfortunately, even with her attempted attack assist, the sentry turret clearly demonstrated its lack of marksmanship, as the attack was far too high up, and sailed clear above her head into a panel behind her. Her feet shook as the ball landed and melted into the ground, turning it into a pool of molten paneling. The remaining viruses continued to either snore lightly or revolve around in their respective orbits.

A frown creased Pirouette's features for a moment as the excessively wild shot outpaced her ability to catch it. Even so, she shook it off and righted her posture, blinking and taking a slightly longer breath. Despite her best efforts, she didn't manage to stop the small, irritated sound that escaped her as she did so, and a curious question from Mikhail made her shake her head.

"It is nothing, never mind. That did not go as planned, but it is of no matter." She rolled her shoulders then focused inwards for a minute, pacing herself for a slightly longer conflict than she'd initially hoped to make it. "Let us take care of this, yes? Have we any ranged chips, Mikhail?" She felt him send something to her a moment later, then nodded.

Taking off, Pirouette began to run forward, graceful and smooth as her long strides carried her. the small motion of her hands down and back behind her also caused her shield to swing around, orbiting her body to settle into a position at her back instead. With the two sparking viruses orbiting their respective dummies, Pirouette made to pass between them, leaping as she approached the line and vaulting over the central, unoccupied dummy. One hand reached down as she jumped, touching it for stability while she passed over the top, and setting her body into a tight spin. She landed on the other side on one toe point, stabilising with a neat spin, arms high, and stepping back twice more to halt her momentum.

As her second foot touched down briefly, she focused her attention on the HotHead virus that was till open, back to the Sparkies behind her now. With a slight bend at the knees she accessed the chip data that Mikhail had sent her, and pushed off again, beginning to spin. the first rotation was slow, arms out to the sides and her movement leg wide, but each twirl saw her arms draw in against her body as she spun faster and faster. The data flowed outwards, forming a growing tempest of wind about her body as she turned. When it reached its peak speed, the girl crouched low, curling at the hip, then extended her lead foot upwards. The thrust of her toe was accompanied by her support leg unfolding as well, until she made a complete vertical split, head by her support ankle at the ground and toe point in the air. The tempest of wind lifted up with the motion, rising off her body before curving over and dropping back down on the stationary virus in a storm.

The shield had remained at her back while she spun, and as Pirouette lowered her leg and straightened up again, she adopted a stable pose still facing the two fixed enemies.

The grace of Pirouette's dance was displayed to a captive audience as she leapt onto one of the target practice dummies, and launched herself through the area, avoiding much of the cracked flooring. Soaring through the air, she landed onto the glowing demarcation line with a neat spin, and proceeded to stir up a storm with her rotations. The cutting winds bore down onto the open-mouthed sentry cannon, causing it to vibrate violently before being deleted in a flash.

Pirouette held her finishing pose for an extra moment while the tempest tore apart the targeted virus, then relaxed. she cast an eye towards the turret virus that was still closed, then turned her attention to the two orbiting, electrical viruses instead. They were obviously hostile and dangerous, so even if they were no longer a threat to her it was still her duty to take care of them.

"Mikhail... I would rather not approach these viruses... Do we have anything else left to us that is ah, long ranged, you know?" She watched them orbit their respective dummies, pondering, until her operator answered back.

"It does not seem so, my little one. Nothing that is reliable, at least. What would you like to do?" the answer made Pirouette purse her lips slightly and frown, before she set her shoulders and drew a deeper breath, focusing on composure. It didn't really leave too many options, after all.

"Aie.... the claws, please, then. I will deal with them quickly, and we shall move on." The data followed a moment later, and Pirouette darted back towards the dummies. A series of long, sharp feather quills had begun to extend from the backs of her calf muscles, growing at an upward angle, though they didn't interfere with her delicate steps back across the damaged tiles. She approached the virus on her left first, keeping to the side of the middle dummy so she could be sure the other wouldn't interrupt, then, watching the direction that her first target was orbiting in, leaned back and arched one leg out straight. The motion twisted it into a reverse turn that brought the sharp quill points on the back of her calf around to meet the virus as it spun about the dummy, before she put the first foe down and rolled her body, jumping smoothly to the other foot to sweep her other leg out in a continuation of the circle, aiming to strike it a second time on its next pass.

As her momentum ran out, Pirouette brought the leg in tighter and straightened, the flat of her raised foot against her other knee as she narrowed her stance. the spin ended with her facing the other virus and she prepared to move on towards it. During the motions, her shield had gone mostly forgotten, drifting around by her back as she moved and stretched.

Though Pirouette would have liked to not have to approach the orbiting satellite viruses, she hadn't much choice, with how limited Mikhail's folder was. She drew her breath slowly, before she was provided with sharp quills on her legs. As she approached the first of the two, the Sparky began to noticeably emit more lightning arcs about its body, and abruptly accelerated in order to revolve around the dummy slightly faster and try to hit Pirouette in mid-turn. Because of its sudden acceleration, the Navi and the virus both missed each other in their first attacks, but Pirouette managed to adjust for the second strike to hit it perfectly on its side. In the end, she had only managed to break off some of its metal shell, and hadn't at all affected its general movement.

Meanwhile, as she ended her first act with the orbs, the red turret head that she had managed to incapacitate for some time began to stir behind her. It emitted a low rumbling noise before it split its round face in half, where a red-hot cannonball was waiting to be launched at some unsuspecting dancer Navi.

A small twitch at the corner of her lips, suggesting a moment f irritation, was all that showed through while Pirouette didn't quite manage to connect both of her strikes, but she nevertheless steadied her stance, took pose again, and repeated the tight double turn, doing her best to line her movements up more carefully this time. It may have been a sign of her agitation as she turned, but even with an extra portion of force flowing through her movements, it seemed likely that if her first turn did connect, then the second would run the risk of obliterating the training dummy instead.

Behind, the sound of the remaining turret opening drew one eye as she finished the first set of movements and put her toe down. The girl frowned at it and made a small, irked gesture with her left hand, pointing towards it again.

"No. Enough, you will wait!" Along with her words the same faintly sparkling dust drifted out from her pointing hand, to cloud over and around the open-mouthed turret. Pirouette turned her back to it without a second glance, though just in case she did take the precaution of directing her floating shield around to rest in the space behind her wings again, facing towards the fixed virus. With the immobile one disregarded, the ballerina instead turned her attention to the other Sparky, and made a small double pass of steps towards it while she prepared to deal with it as well.

Pirouette's frustration was evident as she repeated her attacks on the spherical virus; she finally managed to bring it down with her first strike, but also hit the training dummy that it was orbiting with an extra hard slice. The two targets hit the floor hard, the burlap sack that the dummy was made out of spilling its contents onto the cracked flooring. Weirdly enough, it seemed to be made out of some kind of adhesive material, which seeped into the cracked paneling and repaired it like it was new. Being successful with her attack, she heard the HotHead preparing to attack, and attempted to repeat her first attack on it. Unfortunately for her, it didn't seem to work all that well, as the turret virus spat out a fiery cannonball towards her. However, Pirouette was already on the move towards the next Sparky, leaving the cannonball to smash into the place where she had destroyed the dummy earlier. The ball melted into the floor once again, leaving Pirouette herself unharmed. The turret then receded back into its shell, content to wait again for another shot.

Having turned her back on the HotHead, Pirouette's eyes opened wider for a moment as the errant projectile missed her. Her expression went from vaguely irked to a far more severe and tightly controlled smoothness, It might be her duty to take care of things like this, but now their unruly behaviour was truly starting to irritate the ballerina. Steadfastly, she continued to ignore the turret, rather than rise to its bait and struck out instead at the remaining sparky. Her form, of course, remained perfect and straight, but she exhaled sharply as she arched into the extended pirouette, leg snapping out hard and with notably more force than was strictly necessary for the turn. At the beginning and end of her swift turn, her gaze was focused on the orbiting Sparky; she had places to be, and these viruses were slowing her down far too much now.

Irritated at the amount of time she had been forced to waste on the detour that the viruses had pushed on her, Pirouette similarly forced her form and expression into a highly concentrated powerful strike on the remaining satellite. Despite its efforts to accelerate to avoid Pirouette's slicing twirls, luck had not been on the lone Sparky's side, as it succumbed to a single hit. As if on cue, the last remaining enemy on the field opened its jaws to find itself in a one-on-one against the dancer Navi. If it had been any other regular virus, it probably would've been sweating by now, but the HotHead's eyes remained focused as it lined up one more shot.
