Druidman: Steamblower

Freckles whines, and looks around scared in- just about every direction.

It would seem that *all* of the directions are 'bad'.
"What the..." Druidman ponders. "No way is..."

Oh. Crap.

Druidman suddenly had a very, VERY bad feeling. His hand reached for his scimitar...
No sooner did Druidman reach for his scimitar than did a wave of fire come blazing across the ground towards him. He barely manages to roll out of the way, and Drek simply *teleports* over in front of Freckles, protecting him from the wave.

It's only when Druidman sees what, exactly, now has him surrounded that he gets the feeling something weird is going on... Metools, clad in red armor and with pickaxes that appear to be made out of molten metal, appear seemingly from just out of sight and surround Druidman and Freckles, who gives off a low whine.

"Whoa, dude." Druidman said as he drew his scimitar. "Those Metools are on FIRE."

"Yeah." Steve added. But, I think we'll be okay. We've faced bigger and badder fire based challenges, eh?" he said with a chuckle. "Let's try to get this over as quickly as possible, okay?" he said as he slotted in some chips.

"Right on!" Druidman said, pumping his fist, and charging his scimitar with the Bubble chips that Steve sent him. The twin orbs of water double helixed around the blade, until, with a quick frontwards jab, he sent the orbs careening towards opposite ends of their ranks.

Still not done with his scimitar, he charged it with every ounce of his own personal magic that he could muster, then bent it into the familiar shape of the trusty Boomerang. Sizing up a shot, he throws it into the familiar arc, aimed at the center of the throng.

Finally, Druidman started a chant that soothed his fevered mind. Small tendrils creeped out of the ground, and reached and wrapped around his arm. Elsewhere, more vines sprouted up and swirled around yet another Met. Druidman smiled and roared, "SANCTIFIED RECOVERY FORCE!" and yanked on the vine, initiating the life-energy transfer.

Druidman then brought up his sturdy, wooden shield to defend himself.

Druidman blasts the crap (or would it be bubbles the crap?) out of two of the flaming 'tools, but the second pair aptly dodges- only to be destroyed by a quad set of kicks from Drek. Druidman then tosses a boomerang at the enemies, and it manages to hit one- then the second one knocks it clean out of the air with its' pickaxe, setting the boomerang on fire.

Druidman then drains a metool- but doesn't get the full effect, as the Metool quickly cuts through the vines, burning them with its' pickaxe and killing the transfer of energy. The one that the boomerang hit earlier charges him, swinging its' pickaxe in fury- only to whack its' pickaxe straight into Druidman's guard, finishing it.

The Fire Metool that Druidman drained pounces upon the nature navi, and also takes a swing- unlike its' now-dead brother, though, this one hits. (20+x2fr/Fire=40)

Another of the remaining Metools appears for a moment as though it, too, is going to try something- then Drek kills it with a pair of kicks, and teleports back to Freckles.

Druidman, while disappointed that his attack strategy hadn't gone quite as he planned, was immensely grateful that he had befriended Freckles and his protector. Their help seriously alleviated some of the stress of the fight from Druidman. Now, there were only a couple of the little flamers left.

Steve, meanwhile, was thumbing through his chip binder again. He sorely wished that he had a few more Aqua chips, as a couple of Bubblers weren't going to cut the mustard. He was having trouble with MET variants. What would happen if he ran into anything nastier? Finally, he selected a chip. "Druidman. This chip aughta fry those last guys into oblivion." he said, loading the bright yellow chip into his PET. "Just make sure you don't miss."

Druidman didn't need to be told that twice. Taking his time, he lined up his shot to hit the little buggers. With a quick thought, the spell began, and Druidman threw both of his hands forward, spirals of electricity poured out of them. "Whoa, dude!" Druidman stammered as the electical power left him. "I feel like that one dude!"

Steve wasn't sure what his Navi was talking about...

REWARDS: 1000z

Freckles and Drek turn, as one, towards Druidman as if asking him what he's going to do next.
Druidman smiled at the loyalty of his newfound companions. "Well, man." he said, "I've come a long way, no use turning around now." he said with grim determination.

"Oh, and Druidman." Steve chipped in, "I have some of these subchips still from awhile back, so I may as well use them to keep you going." he said, popping one of the chips into his PET.

((Battle 17, MiniEnrg Subchip used))
Suddenly... FIRE MONKEYS!

Okay, you caught me. There aren't any Fire Monkeys. That would be just silly.

Druidman finds... nothing. He hasn't gone anywhere, and it seems that nothing is coming to him at the moment...

Druidman: 210
Freckles: 1600
Drek: (Illusion!) (Invulnerable to attack!)
Druidman got up and dusted off his hands. "Well, break time over." he said, cracking his knuckles. "Let's look around for something cool."

He dropped down to one knee, picked up a small sample of the dirt, examined it, then, suddenly, felt a strange sense of foreboding.

"Hmm..." he pondered. "Obsidian. Must be near a pocket of lava or something, dude."

"I wasn't aware that Lava Terrain could exist in the Electown Network." Steve said. "I've never heard any reports of it, anyway."

"Something's not right, man." Druidman said, and tossing the dirt down, followed into the net, deeper toward the source of this strange terrain anomaly.
Druidman somehow picks up dirt from panels.

Weeeird.

He continues onward... and finds lava. It's not flowing, though; it's more like it exploded from somewhere with how it's scattered...

And of course, something just has to pop out of the lava to attack him. Typical, right?

But... what are these, exactly? They look like weird globs of lava... with squiggly, gooey arms...

Freckles, meanwhile, trots in worriedly behind Druidman, as if reluctant to follow.

"Be careful of that lava, Druidman, it can really hurt you." Steve cautioned. "At least we know the cause of it, now." as he popped in a few chips. "Try not to move around much."

Druidman didn't have to be told twice. Making sure he wasn't too close to any lava, he began to perform a chant. The words seemed distant, harsh, and cold. So cold, in fact, that the air around Druidman seemed chilled, even a small puff of steam escaped from his breath. Druidman produced a club-like branch, and with the power words "SHIVERING FROST FORCE!!!" coated it in a crystalline ice shell. Druidman dashed up to the nearest Melty, careful to avoid any puddles, and delivered a mighty swing with the club, sending ice shards flying everywhere.

Retreating a bit, Druidman drew his scimitar, which already had the next chip data loaded into it, and was dripping with anticipation. Druidman fired a double pulse of bubbly water into the middle of the fray.

As a last ditch effort, Druidman charged and bent his sword once again, and hurled it into the ranks of the Melties before he raised up his gauntlet into it's familiar defensive position. He didn't want to get hit by any of that lava goop.

Druidman puts one of the Melties on ice with a WHACK of his club, and then bubbles two more to a sudsy death. He fires a second Bubbleshot- but this one is deftly dodged. ...Somehow. It's not really clear how little globs of lava 'dodge'. Maybe they slide around or something? Who knows.

Either way, Druidman hurls a boomerang- which simply gets stuck in one of the Melties. And catches on fire. FIIIIIIRE! The Melty simply plucks it out with one of its' gooey, burning arms, and tosses it aside.

Druidman throws up a guard just in time to catch a large glob of lava that one of the Melties hurls at him, but some of it still manages to splatter past the guard and onto Druidman before the beam fires off. (10+x2f/Fire=20) The Melty, on the other hand, gets the bad end of the deal-- it's reduced to under half HP by the blow.

One of the undamaged Melties overtakes the wounded one, and the two merge into a slightly-larger, slightly-beefier Melty. Druidman's keen eyes notice a similar effect on a Melty that doesn't seem to be doing much...

...And is also losing HP slowly. Huh.

Drek goes to do his usual routine of kicking on a Melty-

But his foot is stopped in a manner similar to Druidman's boomerang. Huh.

Looks like Druidman's going to be going it alone for a bit...

"Druidman..." Steve began. "Maybe you should..."

"No way, man." Druidman said boldly as he steeled his stance. "I'm sick of these guys already. I'm fighting fire with fire, dude!" With that, he sent in his chip requests to Steve.

"You sure this will work?" Steve said as he slid the chips in.

"Nope." Druidman replied as he reached into his belt pouch and withdrew two knobbly balls of light. "I'll blow those bigger ones sky high! If I'm right, they should stick in them like my Boomerang!" And, with remarkable dexterity, one bomb in each hand, bolted to the center of the line, skirting lava pits until he shot each arm in the opposite direction, sending the energybombs flying in a V pattern towards the flanking ends of the line.

"It strikes me that you dudes like fire." Druidman said with a smirk as he grasped the hilt of his scimitar. "Let's see how much you enjoy it." and he slammed the tip of the blade into the ground, and started to pump every once of fire magic he could into it. Hopefully, the ground was already heated enough to aid in his endeavor as he sent a multitude of pillars of flame burst from the ground all around the little piles of goo.

Before all the fire magic was gone, however, Druidman pulled up up and pointed it towards whatever remained, and let loose a gout of flames belching out of the edge of the blade like a flamethrower.

Druidman- takes out everything! EVERYTHING! IT ALL DIES! *Sob*

Surprisingly, one of the Melties melts when Druidman gets it low on HP, revealing a Mystery Data hidden away inside!

Freckles goes over and sniffs the Mystery Data, whilst Druidman collects the spoils.

Druidman dropped all of the data into his bag, and then walks over to the Mystery Data. "Man, it's a good thing that I didn't hit it too hard." then, as he smiled watching Freckles sniff at it, tapped the top of the data to open it.
A small number display pops out of the mystery data, and scrolls a bit before landing on-

5. The number starts to scroll again, this time landing on 'one'. Suddenly, a digital version of a Magnum1 chip pops out.

Huh.

GET: Magnum1

The Mystery Data then disappears...

"Sweet!" Steve said, excitedly, "That's a rare and powerful chip!"

"Cool, dude." Druidman said as he pocketed the chip data.

"Okay, Druidman, here's the plan... I'm gonna edit your folder around a bit to swap out some of those weaker chips that we never use with some of these awesome newer ones." Steve began. "And I'm gonna heal you again." he said as he popped in another of his dwindling number of subchips.

"Man... these subchips things are turning out to be really helpful..." Steve began. "I think I'll pop over to the chip shop to buy some more. Stay there, and be careful, Druidman."

"Right on, dude."

((MiniEnrg Subchip used.))
Steve came back and sat down. "Okay, Druidman." he said, pulling out his new and improved folder "Let's get back to hunting!"

Druidman nodded and started following along the lava flows, deeper into the anomaly. He couldn't shake the ominous feeling he was having...

((Battle 18, baby!))
A boomerang whistles through the air behind Druidman, nearly catching him in the head, but Drek pushes him out of the way before he's hit, and the flaming boomerang passes harmlessly through the illusory nav-

Wait, flaming boomerang?

Druidman turns to face the source of the attack and finds, truly, something unique.
