Earth to Terra

With the orbiter's launch escaping her fire the first time, It fired a barrage of high-accuracy shots to hail down at Terra with unerring precision. just as the first was about to reach her, however, Terra's sudden defence encircled her and replaced her outer barrier with a more fool-proof one. The shots crashed into it with rapid percussion, but nothing pierced. Her response was far more heavy duty, and her thievery-inclined ally barely had time to dock his own capsule and make off with the goods, before the volley of high-powered turret-fire decimated the Satellite before it cold even begin its landing procedure.

As she waited for the gun to cool down, the first shell crashed back to the hill beside her and ejected the slightly shaken but otherwise unharmed bandcoon, who struggle d briefly with his flight suit and safety harness before bounding up to hand her his find — something resembling data for the attack that the Satellite had just tried to use on her, as it turned out. the battle was over for now, or so it seemed, and Terra was free to gather the others spoils she could find; for her first excursion into the rogue nets, she'd find that the salvage totalled notably more zenny than she'd be used to finding, for such a small number of viruses. She was also faced wit the question of how to approach the glowing blue light still safely hidden beneath the downed UFO.

Scarecrow2Scarecrow2 (Scarecrow)

Scarecrow attack every action, if able. Every time they attack, they recover HP equal to their attack power regardless of whether or not they hit anything. This virus type also has the rare ability to absorb Elec element damage as healing for the same amount. They are immune to any status effects associated with Elec element damage/attacks. Scarecrows are anchored to the ground, and thus enjoy the effects of SuperArmor. Scarecrow are never encountered underground or indoors.

DarkProgs are Mr. Progs cruelly corrupted and warped to become expendable soldiers. They appear mostly as normal Mr. Progs, but their face is much more darkly colored, and have glowing white eyes, as well as missing their left arm. They attack by emitting static around themselves. While they are fairly strong attackers, especially in groups, they have poor endurance, which is only exacerbated by the fact their attacks harm themselves. They very rarely dodge, but will often try to move close to the enemy before attacking.

As the Satellite was sufficiently downed and the Bandcoon returned to her with its loot, the critter reunited with its partner and exchanged high-paws with each other. Terra's sizable surface-to-air contraption melted back into the ground, taking the remains of the strange UFO with it and revealing the mystery data crystal underneath. The Navi took the chance to congratulate the two little critters before finding the crystal to decrypt it with a touch.

When Terra sent up the data, Scarlet took to inspecting the battlechip data. However, she revealed it to be somewhat of a dud, though one of the previous ones obtained from the battle itself was good enough to be inserted in as a folder replacement. She wondered if she would be paying a visit to Soryu's chip trader soon, considering her growing collection of unused chips. Meanwhile, in the network itself, Terra was mostly unconcerned with what had transpired, and proceeded to move on past the magnetically-charged hill onto other locales of the vast space network.

[Terra.EXE: 170/170 HP - FloatShoes.]
Terra would possibly be indifferent on the slow transisiton of a metal magnet hill like battlefield into more a flat, plain like area. She had come across a diamond like field of metal panels, surrounded by an open area of normal panels. On the left and right corner's of the diamond there holes in the ground. Behind each hole was a thin pole, sticking roughly ten feet in the air, serving as a base to raise a metal panel. Atop each pole, was a familiar Satellite virus, both scanning the area that the Navi had approached from. In the center of the metal Diamond there was a DemonEye staring in her direction, as if it was intimidated by her presence, a visible sensor like beam could be seen at ground level, straight out in front of the virus. The beam was just a few steps to Terra's left. Just above the DemonEye virus, was a very furious, buzzing Elewasp, its wings flickering as they fluttered. It buzzed a few times, maybe giving it's friends the go ahead to attack....

Elebee viruses move and dodge at a high rate of speed, and they are fully flight capable. Elebee viruses attack by flying at their target at high speed, and delivering an electric sting. With the terrain flattening out, Terra seemed to slow her pace down, aware of the ease at which a distant enemy could ambush her from afar. For a while, the only companion that she had with the vast emptiness of the network was the sound of her boots clanking against the metallic flooring that were interspersed throughout the landscape, in between the normal tiling. At this point, Scarlet took the time to do her own checks on Terra's diagnostics, when something caught her eye. A few disabled processes, marked "Found these earlier. -Luke" on her PET. Intrigued, she was about to investigate them. In the corner of her eye, she saw that Terra had stopped walking entirely.

"Viruses," muttered Terra. With the scanning eyeball virus directly in her sights, Terra lowered her stance. Three more viruses around her entered her field of awareness. Oddly enough, they were also registering through her normal senses, even though they would normally not register mid-flight. "Shouldn't be a problem," said Scarlet, selecting a few chips distractedly, being more interested in the odd suspended processes. The chip lineup was nonetheless still quite effectively picked out, and Terra had no qualms with loading them in. The oddity of her senses being strangely more sensitive than before was filed away, and she quickly went to work.

Touching the metal flooring lightly with her fingers, she rapidly dissipated into the ground, and blinked into existence moments later behind the DemonEye. As the network's energy assumed physical form around her in the form of her planar defenses, she pivoted around with her back against the DemonEye, and her hand on the floor. Further out towards a small corner on the metal diamond, the ground shook before the hole there belched out a majestic-looking blue serpent, its whiskers dancing about in its frosty breath. It reared its head briefly, before spitting out a trio of frosty air blasts high into the air. As the airbursts reached their zenith, they quickly turned into a set of ghastly-looking spirits that began to seek out each of the three viruses, save for the one directly behind her.

Terra then swiveled around to meet the DemonEye behind her as she activated the remainder of her chips. The yellow hue of her barrier rapidly shifted into a green color, when it suddenly began layering upon itself over and over, until it became a nearly opaque wall of light that surrounded her in a spherical formation. Should it be distracted by the sudden brilliant lightshow, it would not notice the twin Bandcoons that descended upon it from above, mixed in with two of the spirits that the IceDragon had spat out before. With matching armbands on their little limbs, the Bandcoons landed deftly to flank the Eye on both sides, wielding a small knife each that they would use to carefully detach a part of its data without harming it.

The DemonEye that had its sight set on Terra quickly laid down a trip beam that it seemed like she would need to cross to get closer to the viruses, but Terra had other plans. She warped away as her defences came up, deftly evading the swift sting attempt by the wasp, who ended up thrusting at the space she'd been in a moment before.

Terra's own order of response summoned a frosty ally from the dark depths, and as the two satellite viruses attempted to scan and lock onto the navigator they could sense, the frigid spirits it launched crashed into the two complicated pieces of machinery. Neither took it well, but neither of them broke down either. These naxa satellites were made of solid stuff, it seemed. The third spirit chased down the wasp virus, but it was already agitated from missing Terra the first time, and was coming back for her; the attack missed, though the potent energy form continued to chase after it, every bit as tenacious as the wasp itself.

The two satellites finished their scans, and Terra would be able to note that the exterior of her freshly formed aura was marked by a red target sight. Only one, fortunately, and one of the satellites gave a hiss, shedding some of the ice and coating it, and launched higher to begin its firing process. The other remained where it was and reset its sweep slowly.

The Demon eye, in this time, had slowly turned around to face Terra again. If there was any emotion to read, it was a sense of disgruntlement at the pace of the battle, too fast for it to really keep up with, especially when it couldn't seem to mark its targets properly. It laid out another trip line, again trying to separate Terra from the remaining viruses, but the nature-navi didn't seem in a rush to cross it.

While it was doing this, glaring balefully at Terra, the eyeball virus barely had time for its solitary eye to widen as the two bandcoon partners dropped down upon it in unison, surgical knives ready for data dissection. At least they had two good eyes between them... right? Knives flashed and the DemonEye almost seemed to flinch in on itself, then slowly peeked its eye open again as it remained unharmed. The two bandcoons were grinning at each other, and high-fived their free paws in a small gesture of victory as they both bounded back to Terra with prizes in their clutches.

The wasp, on its return run, zeroed in on Terra and managed to sting her this time. Ultimately, the barb was halted by her protective aura, but the ethereal field gave out as it negated the attack. A pity that it hadn't lasted longer, but the viruses in this deeper net really packed much more punch. Up above, the Satellite that had launched successfully turned over, presenting its weapon bank and rained down a barrage of small laser shots over Terra's location. the two bandcoons, returning their prises squeaked and skittered dodging the bolts and hiding underneath Terra as the laser fire rained down. Terra herself was left to take most of the volley directly. Her armour held up a few of them, but a good many continued to strike her after the casing faltered.

By the time the firing sequence finished, however, the creeping ice from the earlier spirit attack progressed over the virus, and it settled back into place, freezing up almost entirely. Nearby, the other one had tried to sweep its targeting beam again, but the sweep faltered as the sensors froze over.

The Elewasp's sting caused Terra to grunt slightly, but she held her ground while the Bandcoons did their deed and scurried back to their master. She proceeded to provide them with shelter under her regenerating defenses, with the yellow barrier replacing the chip-granted Aura defense, while her plundering pets compared their spoils with excited chatters. Terra raised her head, seeing the icy spirits taking hold of the Satellites' systems, and relaxed slightly, free to leisurely clean up the battle as she saw fit. Coupled with the restorative forces patching up the Elewasp's attack, and the perpetrator itself being hounded by her previous attack as well, she was having a good time.

"It seems like it's been... reading from her terraforming processes?"

The PET's readouts intrigued Scarlet more, as while the sealed-off processes that Luke had filtered out for her appeared to be quite invasive at first glance, they only embedded themselves into a tier in Terra's programming that never allowed them to actively affect Terra herself. "Hmm... It looks like they're feeding extra information into her, but it doesn't seem at all malicious. It looks... almost like she's being augmented somehow," she murmured. Glancing over to the side where Terra was fighting, it seemed like she wasn't having much trouble at all. "Looks like they're all pretty close to being cleared out. I'll send you three more," she said.

"Roger," replied Terra, as the chips were fed in immediately after her recovery period ended. The NeedleCannon came back into play, forming itself into a simpler arrangement of a set of eight thick wooden stakes around her hand, with each of them roughly the length of half her arm. Waving it towards the DemonEye, all eight launched simultaneously towards its open eye, ready to turn it into a pincushion without mercy. She pivoted around towards the remaining three, and held out her other hand, spread out in a fan with three little blue marbles between her fingers. Then, she balled up her hand into a fist, and threw her hand out with flair--only for the marbles to vanish entirely from her hand, as if performing a magic trick.

The trick would soon be revealed to the remaining three, however, in the form of a trio of Slimey viruses dropping onto them from far above, each of them carrying a small ball of turbulent wind in their stubby hands. The gelatinous viruses landed, and the airbursts erupted out in a small explosion of compressed air as Terra watched on silently, paired with a round of applause from the Bandcoons at her feet.

With effectively just clean up to do, and the majority of her opposition locked into benign helplessness, Terra was treated to the brief sight of the Elewasp racing towards her, only to get caught up and rapidly consumed by the ice spirit chasing after it. This allowed her to turn her attention on the slowly defrosting satellites and the rather pole-axed DemonEye, who could only really try to reposition its trip beam in a futile hope that Terra would wander into it. She opted not to, of course, and instead contended herself with a long ranged array of high-bore wood projectiles which sufficiently removed the stress of targeting non-moving enemies from the planes of the DemonEye's consciousness, amongst other things.

The satellites were still mostly non-functional, their lights flickering and steam pouring off them as they attempted to defrost, but it gave Terra a relaxed few moments to line up her aim correctly and perform small magic tricks for her highly entertained bandcoons. The trick went over well, mutual destruction of the satellites included, and as the remaining bursts of wind faded away, the pair handed up their own prizes to her; one had achieved a small amount of extra zenny, while its partner had managed to secure the virus' chip data.

-=Viruses=-
ElewaspElewasp (Elebee)

Elebee viruses move and dodge at a high rate of speed, and they are fully flight capable. Elebee viruses attack by flying at their target at high speed, and delivering an electric sting. This type of virus may opt to stop short of the target, and veer sharply in a new direction to avoid an attack. This requires the expenditure of a second action, but occurs very rapidly regardless. Movement and attacking are one and the same with regards to this virus, thus physical contact with them causes damage. Elebees can see through Invis.

Area: Electown, NAXA

HP: 130
Attack Damage/Effect: 40 Elec + Seeking
Attack Accuracy: B
Attack Description: Charges toward enemy to electrocute
Element: Elec
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): Arrow2, Zenny
Special: Flying.

Satellite2Satellite2 (Satellite)

Area: Netopia, Sharo, NAXA

HP: 200
Primary Attack Damage/Effect: Trap(Enemy in Targeting Cursor) + Seeking: Movement (High-Alt) + Dodge + Lock-On + Nullify Invis
Primary Attack Accuracy: C
Primary Attack Description: Generates a targeting cursor that sweeps back and forth across the field, looking for a target. The cursor ignores decoys, objects, illusions, and invisibility. If the cursor intersects with an actual enemy, Lock-On is achieved, and the virus launches itself into the sky at High Altitude.
Secondary Attack Attack Damage/Effect: (9 Null + Seeking + Enhanced Accuracy) x 10 Shots
Secondary Attack Attack Accuracy: A
Secondary Attack Attack Description: When Lock-On is achieved, this virus fires a barrage of 10 highly accurate shots at its chosen target before landing in its original position. Accuracy debuffs on the Satellite while using this attack are reduced in severity by one rank.
Element: Null
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): Lock-On2, Zenny
Special: Immobile outside of its primary attack.
Special: This virus will repeat its primary attack until it finds a target, after which it will be able to use its secondary attack once. When it changes targets, either of its own volition or its current target's death, or uses its Secondary Attack and lands in its original position, it must repeat its primary attack until it finds a new target.
Notes: Triggering invisibility or an illusion, or moving the Satellite forcefully after Lock-On is achieved does not allow a target to escape Lock-On. Lock-On is a shift in the Satellite's state, not a status inflicted on its target, and thus cannot be removed.

DemonEyeDemonEye (KillerEye)

KillerEyes do not move or dodge during battle, though they can move under their own power between battles. They can, however, turn in place. KillerEyes are a passive threat, not an active one. They direct their sensor eye in the general direction of a sensed threat, and emit a laser trip beam for the enemy to run across. If the enemy does run into the beam, they fire their Sensor Beam attack at the speed of light, which is practically guaranteed to hit, before recharging for an action.

Area: NAXA, NetVegas

HP: 180
Attack Damage/Effect: Trap(Movement In Laser Beam's Path) + Seeking: (75 Elec + Stun 1 + Beam Attack + Recovery Time 1)
Attack Accuracy: S
Attack Description: The KillerEye emits a visible Sensor Laser beam from its eye. The Sensor Laser ignores all forms of stealth, but cannot see through or be triggered by stationary objects. Any object or creature that actively moves through the Sensor Laser breaks it, where there is a fraction of a second time delay before the KillerEye responds with a plasma beam that zaps everything along the path the Sensor Laser occupied previously. The KillerEye must recharge for an action after firing its plasma beam before creating another Sensor Laser.
Element: Elec
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): Sensor2, Zenny
Special: Immobile. Can use Barrier on itself once.
Special: KillerEyes cannot beam sweep with either the Sensor Laser or the plasma beam attack. Every time it is moved, whether by its own rotating to direct its beam, by outside force, or by any other means, the beam it emits deactivates until it is stationary again.

As the battle drew to a close, Terra knelt down to pat the Bandcoons for a job well done, as they presented her with the spoils of the battlefield, gathered up neatly within their tails. Things were going well, for the small unplanned excursion. However, her small reprieve would be broken as Scarlet's voice came up from above her, through an audio-only feed. "Terra, I'm seeing a few odd things in your system, possibly remnants from that battle you had with the thing in the Okuden network. I'd like to take you offline for the moment to keep things safe. Is that all right?"

Terra looked up at the starry skies of the network with a slightly sad expression, before nodding in affirmation. "Mm, I understand," she said, shortly before she disappeared in a beam of light, taking the Bandcoons along with her for the ride.

[Jack out.]
