My computer went crappy! Last night I shut it down...this morning, start it up, nothing happens. I get the 'your windows did not start up properly, choose how you would like to start windows' and I try everything and to no avail. THIS SUCKS! I was going to a con too to sell my stuff....HOW WILL I GET MY ART NOW?! ANd my buttons.......waaaaah

I have to go buy a new one now...and I need blue ray now (since I own blue ray cds) yet Best BUy sells awful ones...so it may be 2-3 weeks before I can get back on....

Im using my folks' computer....its like my brothers source of net at home, like mine used to be.

So this is what I need to say...

I'm sorry Majin for not being able to post...
I'm sorry for anyone attempting to contact me...

I was goanna do so much with that thing in June. Get a hotel, get some tickets...pick up some things....now its up in smoke....

LIFE SUCKS!
Did they clean it with dish soap?

Honestly, it may be possible to save your artwork, and possibly fix the whole computer, too. (Assuming it's a desktop.) If you know how to do anything with the insides of a computer (taking it apart can't hurt it more, can it?) you could pull out the harddrive, make it a slave drive on your parents computer, yank your files off, put the drive back in your computer, and format the whole dang thing.

Even if you can't do that stuff, formatting it may be a good idea before you try to buy a new computer. It can fix a looot of problems.
Just get a HDD case. If you're using a desktop, it'll need to be suited for 3.5" drives, if its a laptop, 2.5" drives.

A HDD case means you'll be able to plug it into a computer and access it just like a pen drive. You won't be able to boot into it (although most cases do come with that option) but you can still access all your files just like before (unless the hard drive is corrupted.

If you need more info, just ask.

EDIT: Also, if you have one, try using the System Repair feature on a system disk. If you're running XP, put an XP installation disk in (make sure it runs on the same Service Pack as your computer currently does, I cannot stress this enough) and see if that fixes it. This only works if the boot.ini file or msconfig/startup directory is corrupted.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

;~;
...its a laptop.

So I dunno what to do.

I'm planing on buying one from HP....a blue ray laptop....YAY
A laptop hard drive is typically 2.5" in thickness. There are cases for those kinds of hard drives, you just need to pull it out of your computer.

OR, if you're feeling experimental, get one of those Linux distros that load from CD into your RAM, access your hard drive, copy it to a pen drive, and shut the computer down.

If only I lived abroad, the people I could help. <_<

No joke. SJ is a very solid computer tech. You should listen to this advice. But uhh... get someone knowledgeable in computers locally to help you pull your drive out of your laptop and install it into the USB Drive Case. That's assuming you decide to go that route.

I'm pretty sure the issue is software related, given the info of your first post. Which means, it's really easily fixable. Grab a copy of a boot CD, and run from it long enough to salvage your data, then reformat the drive, reload windows, and keep using your laptop. Cost: $0. Priceless. Get help from someone to do this if you don't feel confident.

It's up to you. I suggest you try that before you decide to just give up going to your event.

Oh, and if you try all of the above and no dice.... SpinDisk is a miracle worker.
I went to geek squad....they say its long gone...They belive its cause I clicked the powerbutton to shut it off one to many times. Though because they could also hear clicking in it when I attempt to load it, they also assume that the hard drive was soon going to die. Also, because the jack is cracked they said it wasn't worth it to get it fixed.
Ouch, that sucks. Well, I wish you all the best, alright?
My new computer just came in yesterday! I'm on it now! YAAAY! IM BACK!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

<glomps Lunar>

Welcome back~
