As Dragonierman and Nightshade awaited the opening, a harsh shriek of anger comes from the GMD, as it began to open up a Mimic's data was sensed between the two navis...thankfully, Dragonierman's Untrap kicked in and with it, a cash pile of zenny flooding out for the two navis to pad out their bank accounts.

DragonierMan, Magistrate, Suzume, and Aya took a few minutes picking through the trophies of battle. Aya threw Nightshade and Yumi a 'thumb's up' as they defused after the battle. "Well, that went better than expected for our first battle," she said as she walked over to the pair. "Looks like our training didn't go to waste. Ready for another round?" she asked as the group readied themselves for a stroll on the beach.

Suzu matched pace and came up beside Nighty and Yumi. "So how are you doing on your first run with us? Got any questions that Big Sis' Suzume can answer?" she asked the pair.

Nightshade nodded vigorously. "Yeah! I'm ready to take down anything!" He said, visibly hyped about the battles to come. He would scurry over to Aya for a big ol' hug, hopping on her back and wrappinghis arms around her neck. Yumi was more quiet and controlled, merely following along trying not to get her paws a little too dirty. She looked over to Suzume and shook her head.

"We are doing fine...I think. Though this stuff doesn't seem like any challenge for any of you. The fight was over so soon."

After gathering their spoils, the group continued further down the sand, looking for more targets to hunt on the idyllic waterfront. Unfortunately, if the hunters wanted to take time to chat and enjoy the sun and the waves, they weren't given much opportunity; the Powie problem they'd been sent to take care of seemed to be a particularly bad infestation right around this area, and they hadn't gone very farm before they spied several more of the peculiar viruses making their way across the dunes up ahead.

Before they could engage, however, a deep rumbling in the sand suddenly burst into a fountaining column of mud that made a broad geyser and rained down across the nearby beach in wild splatters. It swiftly formed a trenched pool in the middle of the beach ahead of them, and the muddy shapes of more viruses swam around gleefully in the newly formed pool. dopey, mud-covered expressions peeked up at them with blissfully vacant eyes. The rumbling hadn't stopped, however, and the mud was spreading further, and further, as the groundswell continued.

-=Battle 2, Start!=-
Suzume smirked, "Yeah, we are pretty great. It comes with experience. I'm sure that you'll get the hang of it over time like we did," she replied to Yumi. Meanwhile, Aya pitched forward a little when Nightshade got up on the dragon's back, but was quick to stabilize herself with a flap of her wings. "Hey! Watch it kid," she snarled. "I'm not a jungle gym you can just jump up on and hang."


However, before she could continue, there was a tremor. The beach sands exploded outwards moments later as a gyser of mud erupted from the ground. The four dragoniers leaped back from the splatter as viruses started emerging from the muck. "Suzume, Aya," DragonierMan called out. "Blast them!" He had hoped to slay them in a preemptive attack before they could act.

The twins immediately moved forward and raised their hands, cupping them together as energy coalesced within. Bright shining lights danced about them as they charged their attack, glittering like ghosts. Each sister took aim at the group of Powies, then there was a sudden thunderclap and a roar as they launched their attacks. A duet of glowing, whirling spheres spun around each other in a ballet, heading towards the enemy formation. They exploded among the virals in plumes of white-hot energy, scorching anything unlucky enough to avoid them.

As the mud continued to pour out, Drago felt something, a tingle on the back of his neck. There were more viruses coming. He might need some more help. He pulled out a small figurine of a swordsman and tossed it into the dunes before him. "We require your aid. Come forth and fight!" he commanded as the figurine sunk into the sand. Moments later a viral form arose, clad in turquoise armor, with a purple spike protruding from his helmet like a crystalized feather. It drew forth a blade that ignited in sapphire flames.

"Destroy those coming from the Mud!" Drago ordered his new warrior. The knight teleported toward the center of the large Mud pool and began hacking, slashing, and stabbing at any virus it could reach. Its blade crackled like fire and sang like a songbird as it cut through the air. Even though the Mud was all around, it could not coat the shining blade. The unearthly blaze dissolved away, almost instantly, any muck that splashed against it.

Magistrate stood back from all this carnage and watched as the enemy began to split up. She raised her hands as three globes of light shimmered into being around her head. With a flick of her wrist, she sent them lancing out like arrows loose from a master archer, slicing through the air towards the three Powies. The beams lashed out like snakes, twisting and zigzagging, and changing direction on a dime through the air as they gave chase to the pillowy viruses. They sought their targets with the same vigor as a skilled predator (or they went after whatever three enemies were left).

"Defensive maneuvers!" Drago shouted again, as if he needed to, and the four dragoniers took to the sky. They flew into the air and shimmered out of existence. They began to pile on various defenses as they teleported around seemingly at random to different areas of the battlefield. As they reemerged onto the scene, they flew towards the four cardinal directions as they got a bird's eye view of the situation.

Well, it seemed it was once again time to get back to work. Nightshade hugged Aya before hopping off and hi-fiving Yumi, navi and sp bonding together again to take on the next set of viruses. Seeing as his sisters and dad had already went ahead and targeted the powies with their chips, Ayashade worked on the mudfishes.

First, he would materialize an electric chakram in his hand, flip and spin and hurl the thing at the first fish in sight. Then, using Yumi's ability, he would blits the second one in a flash, split into two to weave around and strike with his own claws.

Under assault, the team sprang to battle swiftly. More swiftly, in fact, than any of the approaching viruses really seemed to be expecting: Aya and Suzume blasted the group of on-coming powies with twin tank shells before any of them could hop away, cutting the battle in half in an instant.

While Drago summoned yet another ally to the field, and sent it warping forward into the mud pit, Nightshade followed their cue and backed the sword-wielding summon up with electrical ranged support. As the Swordy swung at the two Mudfeesh in the pool, it missed one, but the other was struck by Nightshade's electrical attack and was stunned long enough for the Swordy's blade to finish it off. The mud churned the Swordy swung about, focusing on the remaining virus, but Magistrate eliminated it with a dispassionately precise thunder beam from afar.

Thee was a moment of quiet as the field was clear, before the rumbling in the ground started up again, and more bursts of mud began to erupt from the sand all around them. The dragoniers raised their defences and moved up and back to survey the field, while Nightsahde and Yumi protected themselves as well, taking up more central position near the summoned Swordy while they prepared for further attack.

It came a moment later in the form of a large RainGear, bursting up from the mud directly in front of Nightsahde. It bubbled the mud and hissed a plume of dense fog as it glared at the feline navi. Off in the sea, to one side, tow other figures emerged, raiding their eyes above the water's surface; the looked like little viral ninjas, preparing for an amphibious assault.

"We'll take the swiming ninjas, you three stay on shore and fight them as they come!" DragonierMan said as the four fliers vanished, shimmering into the aether once more. When they reappeared again, attempting to dodge any counter attack, they tried to get as close to the Genin as they could. The three dragonier women unsheathed their swords and struck at the ninjas, fulfilling the universe's samurai vs. ninjas quotient for today. Drago had a slightly different plan, and used the distraction of his three murderous companions to try to sneak in to snag one of the Genins' clothing with elongated, sharp bear claws. If he managed to grab the the slippery shinobi, a flex of his toned muscles would attempt to toss the virus at its companion.

Meanwhile, the Swordy3 joined YumiShade in stabbing and slashing the enemy Raingear. It tried to teleport around its rain and get into a tactically sound spot for it to swipe its sword. The azure blade lanced out to pierce the fluffy cloud virus, hacking at its bushy body like hedge clippers, or like a machete through the jungle.

The four dragoniers took to the sky after delivering their attacks. As they flew, they reapplied the various defenses they had probably lost in the struggle with the Genin. It wasn't long until they returned to their previously claimed areas of the battlespace, flying high above the ground.

Nighty felt a tug on his body and a squeeze as he planted his tabi boots into the mud for more traction. He could feel his bond with Yumi grow deeper and deeper the more he wore her as his armor and fough together. So, the viruses seemed to just keep on coming. Well then they would keep on busting. They were attacking them with ninjas, but the Dragonieers could count on their own Ninja as well. With Aya's training and Yumi's insticts, there was no way Nighty could lose.

He would mobe on at the next target, quickly using the added mobility of his tabi boots to skim acrouss the mud and jump onto the swordy's head as a trampoline. He would then pounce the RainGear virus ready to rip him to shreds. He made a mental note to tell Aya that she was right. Her boots were hella comfy and nice if you had to run around alot.

The team were comfortable and confident as more viruses showed up, and the dragoniers teleported in close in an attempt to take the ninjas by surprise. It's often hard to sneak up on a ninja, however, even with teleportation. As soon as Drago arrived, one of the Genin turned and flung a spread of knives both at him, and at Aya; the cross-field teleport helped make Drago a harder target, but he still had one knife scratch against his outer most defence. Aya, meanwhile, received two hits, which managed to collapse her barrier completely for now.

Aya appeared just a moment behind her leader, but sparked another spray of knives from the other ninja as she arrived. This time Drago caught three of the small projectiles, while Aya's blurring form only got nicked by one. The result was that Drago had lost both of his defences, while Aya was down her barrier. Already committed, Suzume arrived a fraction of a second after, and the first ninja retaliated with a broad sweep of is moonblade, trying to hit all three of them. Drago was the largest target and got clipped, though it was only a scratch, while the twins managed to avoid the blade.

When magistrate arrived fourth, the second Genin also spun its blade about, trying to tag as many of the assailants as it could. It missed Drago and Aya, and Magistrate's warping form was too indistinct in the moment for it to land a blow there, but Suzume caught the edge of the blade, wearing it on her barrier.

As this happened, Nightshade and the summoned Swordy were focused on the mud pit in the centre and the aggressive RainGear. Nightshade moved in with Yumi, evasive as he closed, while the Swordy warped in directly, but as they arrived, the virus seemed to exhale, and lifted a thick column of water and mud from beneath the entire mud pit, buffeting everyone. It wasn't enough to break through Nightshade or Yuni's protections, and the Swordy seemed sturdy and unperturbed. Night attacked first, tearing into the virus, before the Sword finished it off with a stroke of its own.

Back out in the water, the two Genin seemed to have exhausted themselves in the opening seconds, trying to respond to their foes, ad now were at the mercy – or lack thereof – of the dragoniers. Drago led the attack, smashing one effortlessly into the other, before his supports descended on the pair with blades of their own to put an end to the sneak viruses.

As they flew quickly back to their corners and refreshed their defences, a larger eruption fountained a veritable school of piranhas into the air, before they fell back into the growing mud-lake. There wasn't a lot of sand left between the spreading pool and the actual sea now – it would probably break through soon.

"You guys are doing great. Here, heal up!" Aya said as she tossed a recover battlechip at the fused pair. She then looked at the nicked DragonierMan. "We got this boss, you stay there and get healed up for the next round. Let's go girls!" Aya shouted out as the three warped towards the school of Piranha, swords gleaming. Drago also warped, but kept to the same sector of space high above the increasingly muddy beachfront. He dodged and weaved around in the air, as he pulled out and drank some healing concoction he got from his belt.

The three dragonier women and the lightly-wounded Swordy3 joined YumiShade with blades drawn, and advanced upon the three Piranha. The Swordy3, unafraid for its own safety, came straight at the school of Piranha, taunting them. Piranhas were known to go after one target at a time with all their ferocity. But the Swordy3 knew it was still very healthy, and could take the beating. Using the distraction, its three companions tried to slip around the flanks of the Piranha and hack them to death with the help of YumiShade.

Assuming the Swordy3 survived the Piranhas' assault, it would slowly fade away as the three dragoniers took to the sky. It gave a salute with its sword, as the warriors took back their positions high above the battlefield, refreshing their defenses once more. Drago returned the salute with his glowing claws. "You have served us well friend. I will call on you again soon."

Seeing as they were making quick work of the viruses showing up,Nightshade took a moment to heal up and top off his energy reserve with the chipdata Aya gave him. He would then stretch and adjust his tabi boots a little before getting back into the swing of it. Well...Yumi's claws, considering he was wearing the small fluffy wyvern as his battle armor.

Yumi 1: Dodge
Yumi 2: Dodge
Nightshade and Drago both topped themselves off, restoring themselves to full strength before rejoining the fray, but the time it took the newly arrived Piranhas to find and settle on a target together was all it took for Aya, Suzume, Magistrate and their temporary Swordy ally to cut the newest arrivals mostly apart. Nightshade and Yumi threw themselves into the mix at the last moment, helping to clean up, before sealing over the spilling mud pit with a broad spread of magnetic panels.

That seemed to stop the geyser from below, certainly, and it seemed as though the beach might finally get back to a semblance of calm, excepting the large circle of magnetic ground, but despite their efforts, more viruses were gradually making their way towards the shore from the ocean. To be fair on the party of hunters, they couldn't exactly be expected to stay and fight the entire ocean; it seemed like this particular problem was now handled, and they could move on, if they wanted, knowing that they'd done their part, for this stretch of beach at least.

"The main problem has been dealt with," Magistrate stated as YumiShade stoppered the Mud geyser with Magnets (How do they work?). "It is time to leave this area and hunt elsewhere." Suzume shook her head in disbelief. "They just keep coming!" she shouted. "Is this another Spawn situation? We don't even have one of those V-Eliminators."

"I don't think so," Aya replied. "From what we heard, that comes from special viruses. This just looks like normal virus propagation."

"Let's go kids," DragonierMan called to YumiShade. "Suzume, Aya, give us some covering fire! Drago called out as he and Magi started moving out of the area. Suzu and Aya turned and shot a few warning buster shots at the ocean, causing small eruptions of water in front of the enemy to cover for the withdraw.

"Right!" Yumishade nodded, a couple of backflips transitioning to full hopps only to jump up and over to where his sibligs and dad were. Better skedaddle before things get too out of hand!

With the main problem plugged for now, the group safely moved on, ready to seek further battles and rewards. The remaining viruses didn't give chase, instead bobbing back down into the sea before the hunt team could take any further objection to their presence.

Everyone quickly gathered their rewards and regrouped a few blocks away. "Good work so far. We have destroyed a large number of enemies today, with more to come," he stated. He then looked at his arm bracer, which popped up a digital clock window showing the time. "Even with that endurance match, are making good time. I think we can go for another few battles before we wrap up for the day."

He chuckled. "By the time we are done, it will take them a long time to repopulate. Even with their seemingly endless numbers." He turned to address YumiShade. "You up for another two-to-three battles?" he asked them as he scanned the horizon for the next challenge.

Yumishade was currently busy huggling the living hell out of Suzume, but from the way he was showing her how cool his uniform was and how nice Aya's old tabi boots he was wearing felt during combat it would be easy to tell he would have to go through a good few more battles before all tht energy would be used up.

The party moved on, combing the beach and keeping an eye out for their next collection of bounty viruses. The light breeze settled down to still air before long and the warmth of the sun became a more pointed summery heat. They found themselves moving away from the beach itself, slightly, crossing a low point in the dunes and moving through meandering board paths, set on a mixture of sandy sprawl and scattered grassy verges, always with the regular, rhythmic crash of the beach waves not too far off to the right, just out of sight.

They'd only travelled a short way before a second background sound began to join the first; the gentle rush or running water. The path they were on led in short order out to a broad spring. It looked constructed, more like a water feature or miniature park, perhaps for navis who didn't feel like going in the ocean itself? It was made up of a broad moat of water, maybe waist deep on someone like Nightshade, with a grass-covered island in the centre. The island had three structures – tall, mushroom-shaped fountains, with a single pillar each supporting a wide caps. Each one flowed with water, creating a spray about the area, and more solid water curtains cascading down from the 'cap' of each fountain. The largest one in the centre was four or five nightshades tall, and its cap covered the majority of the central island, sheltering it from the sun, while the two smaller ones nestled under its shade, only about two nightshades tall each, closer to the edges of the island.

The idyllic little water park was, unfortunately, not vacant at the moment. A couple of aquatic viruses occupied one side of the outer pool – a starfish, and one with a spiralling shell. Perched on the top of the largest fountain, barely in sight, a Walla seemed to be enjoying the water flowing about it, though it seemed to be risking scratching the structure with its large tusks. A pair of Powies had just hopped into sight from between the dunes, to the back left of where the hunting party emerged, but taking absolute pride of place was the massive, massive polar bear that had seated itself in the middle, with its back pressing heavily against the central pillar, which creaked with ominous complaint. the virus, if it was a virus, barely fit under the structure, and would easily about twenty feet tall, if it stood up on its hind legs fully. It seemed to be trying to escape the heat, but gave a ground-shaking roar of challenge as Drago, Nightshade and the rest of their band showed up.

As the sound faded away and the creature rocked forward onto its feat with a grumble, and blur of motion caught the group's attention. Darting between the dunes, to emerge on the left of the water park, a small figure was made to look even more diminutive alongside the gigantic bear. She was perhaps three feet tall at best, including the height of a set of soft rabbit ears rising from either side of her head, and was covered in short, white fur wherever it showed beneath a festive, yet beach-appropriate outfit. There wasn't a lot to it, but enough to be reservedly decent – a red chest band, made of light swim-suit material was trimmed with white and had patterns of snowflakes across it, along with a pair of round seasonal puddings patterned on the front in an impressionistic style. She was also wearing a denim skirt that was lightly pleated and had seasonal messages written on it in red and white glittery text. The only other piece of clothing seemed to be a slim sun visor, that converted into a light, fluttering, floppy, santa-cap, nestled between her ears, and coming to a point with a bright red pom-pom part way down her back.

As she came to a halt at the edge of the water, a small rabbit tail could be seen in brief flashes at the back of her skirt, and along with her other visible features, it would be hard to describe her as anything other than a bunny girl of some sort. She had a small wicker basked looped over one arm but looked around the area with a sharp, blue gaze while one hand rustled around inside it. It was a figure that Drago himself might recognise, though the last time he and his SPs had seen the bubbly gift-giver it had been in a much more hostile network. She paused and stopped rummaging in her basket to clap her hands when she saw the massive Kodiak.

“Oh! You guys found a big one!!” The voice was soft and high-pitched, as might be expected, but it managed to avoid being squeaking or shrill. After a moment she shook her head and pulled a small crystal out of the basket, flipping it onto the ground beside her at the edge of the water. It rapidly expanded into a full sized mystery data.

“Hey there, sorry, business first, hehe. Seasonal greetings and all that! Lot of you in this group! Don't worry, there's enough for everyone, and it's all safe and guaranteed not locked or trapped. Whew...” She flopped down on the ground and kicked her feet in the water, seemingly unperturbed by the increasingly irate viral presence.

“I'm going to stay and watch this one. It gets hot running the beaches, and the water here is really nice...” She glanced briefly at DragonierMan and raised a curious eyebrow, then looked at the rest of his party, her eyes settling for the last few moments on Nightshade and his SP. “If you need help, give me a shout, okay? I shouldn't, but there's been a huge Powie overload out on the beach today... it's driven a bunch of newbies away... going to have to fix that later. Ugh... Oh well.”

The Kodiak roared again, unhappy about being ignored, but the bunny girl just leaned back on her hands and splashed her feet in the water.

Kodiaks are a combination of the ColdBear, Teddy, and Pengi viruses. These viruses appear to be dire polar bears with anger management issues, muderous claws, and the beastly strength to hurl ice cubes or whatever else comes to hand like it was fired from a cannon. Kodiaks are massive, easily 6 meters tall when standing up on their hind legs. Their roar is enough to stun a Navigator in cold fear.
