Powie Zowie [Nightshade and DragonierMan]

DragonierMan, Magistrate, Suzume, and Aya arrived via portal from Wrangler's Booth to hunt some Powies. They waited for Nightshade and Yumi to arrive before setting off. "Ready to hunt on the beach?" Drago asked Nighty and Yumi.

[Requesting Battle 1 (after Nightshade joins up).]
Yumi was the first to arrive. She would look around to try and find Drago and the others. Once she spotted the dragoniers, she quickly scooted over to Magistrate and sat down by her side, tail wagging at his mom.

Nightshade bolted inside the network a few moments later, exiting the beam of light sitting down on the floor.

"Just a moment! Just a moment!" He blabbed, some stuff lying around him as well. It seemed that he had taken a detour to the navi shop before settling in. He had gotten himself a few upgrades, most probably to impress his family in the upcoming bustin session. He also seemed to have ravaged into Aya's and Suzume's closet too, before departing White Tower.

He was pulling at his feet, grabbing his clawed boots and throwing them away with much of a thought. Then he would grab and push his foot inside a black, smooth silky like tabi boot with a rubber sole. The same happened with his other leg.

Those weren't normal split toe boots though. It was easy to tell little Nighty had pillaged the old ninja assassin armor Aya had once worn. The little navi was also wearing Suzume old ninja scarf around his face instead of his usual face mask.

Nighty hopped on his feet, wiggling his toes and taking a few steps with the new footwear. "Wow Aya's boots are super comfy..." he mumbled, not even noticing the FloatShoe program infused within them. "Super light too....it's almost as if I'm not even touching the ground...."

The little navi quickly walked over to Aya and Drago, grabbing the latter's hand in his own for comfort. So far he seemed to be fine even if his "new outfit" was still drenched in Aya's dark energy.

"Okay I'm all ready to go! I can't wait to try these out in battle!" He pointed at Aya's ninja boots on his feet. "These feel soo good! I bet that I am definitively way faster in these."

[Ready for battle! Requesting battle 1 start!]
DragonierMan and his group weren't left waiting for too long on the beachfront they arrived at, before being joined by a somewhat scattered Nightshade and his own Sp. Amidst all of his new outfit choices and other improvements, however, it seemed like beach-wear wasn't among them. Oh well. They weren't exactly here to relax anyway.

The area around the party of navis and SPs was a broad, slightly curving beach that looked like it went on for miles in both directions. There was a cool breeze rolling off the sea before them, glittering in the bright sun. Only a few clouds marked the sky overhead, and even after a few moment sin the sun, the warmth was pronounced enough to make the idea of a dip fairly appealing.

Every few moments, the dull, progressing roar of each small wave turning over onto the sand made a steady rhythm that was pleasant on the ear. Behind them, wind-break dunes covered in hardy spinifex marked the edge of the beach, though they were far enough from water's edge that the beach itself still took up the majority of their view in either direction.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately given their goals, the programs were no alone in the summery setting. No other navis were out on this section of the beach today, and instead, a number of scattered viruses seemed to be enjoying the weather instead. Out in the water ahead of them, the broad shape of a Lark bobbed in the waves. A second shape was deeper under the water, and off to one side, its features difficult to make out.

Off to the side of where they arrives, a small section of the beach grew rocky, and nestled in amongst the shallow pools, the shell of a Shellgeek virus opened briefly to look at them, before closing again and trying to stay still, while behind them, one of the dunes actually turned out to be a shaggy Snowblow, in its summer coat, that was gently blowing small whirlwinds of sand about for fun.

Just nearby, a mound of sand that seemed recently dug bore a number of interestingly shaped shells, and a glint of something green and crystalline too. The pile of turned sand was beside an equally sized pit, in which a small Metool was happily fossicking away, unaware of the new arrivals. It didn't seem to care much about what it had dug up so far – It was just enjoying digging.

As the group took in this scene, two more viruses arrived, hopping by stages over the sand dunes behind them – a pair of Powies coming to join the beach party.

-=Viruses=-
ShellgeekShellgeek (ShellGeek)

Shellgeeks alternate actions between attacking and guarding. These are the only actions Shellgeeks may perform, and the first action of every battle is always guarding. Shellgeeks will not break from this pattern unless forced to by status effects. The secondary attack of Shellgeeks can be used to grant an ally of this virus a free movement, or even to knock an ally out of the path of an oncoming attack.

SnowBlow viruses are immobile. Snowblow viruses attack by first inhaling to draw the enemy to themselves and their viral allies, and then spit a series of 3 tornadoes at their foes. The inhaling phase of the attack requires an action, and the tornado spitting requires a second action. Thus these viruses require two consecutive actions to complete one attack. All SnowBlow viruses have access to Northwind battlechip data.

SlimeySlimey (Slimey)

Slimey viruses were produced to be sources of major traffic lag. While a Slimey virus is on the battlefield, all Navis and SPs suffer from a passive Slow-like effect that imposes a -10% Evasion AND Movement Speed penalty. This effect is not a status ailment, and cannot be cured. This effect does not stack with itself if more than one Slimey is on the field at once. As this does not count as a true Slow effect, up to two instances of Slow may stack on top of this effect for a total penalty of -30% Evasion/Movement Speed. This effect expires when all Slimey viruses on the field are deleted or flee. Slimey viruses are very slow to move and dodge, but every move they make that is not a dodge counts as an attack. Slimeys deal damage by touching an opponent, thus touching a Slimey directly results in damage to any non-Slimey the virus considers hostile.

Area: Sharo, NetVegas, Beach

They will, however, attempt attacks over broken or missing terrain if they see an enemy there. Powies will not attempt to attack the same target on two consecutive actions.

Magistrate took a moment to stare at the wagging Yumi before giving her an affirming pat on the head. Nighshade got pulled in and given a bear-hug from DragonierMan after taking his hand. Then he set Nighty down onto the sand as viruses began invading. Aya took an appraising look at Nighty's outfit, as the viruses began gathering, and nodded her head in approval. "Looks like you're ready to fight, that's good. Just remember what we taught you and you should be fine."

The dragoniers felt slowed down as the Slimey took the field. "I got that Slimey," DragonierMan said, pointing to the lagging virus. "Everyone else is free to pick their targets." Aya smirked and winked at Nighty and Yumi as her wings unfurled. "Let's see if you can keep up, younger bro and sis," she said before she stomped on the sand and launched herself into the air like a rocket. Drago, Magistrate, and Suzumi followed suit, taking quickly to the sky and leaving Nighty and Yumi on the beach.

They ascended skyward like birds, gaining altitude at a ferocious speed. As they flew, they were wrapped in a skin-tight bubble of energy. A thin layer of ablative scales covering over their armor followed, layering them in defenses. Once they were high enough they slowed to a glide and took stock of the enemy below.

"I will take the Shellgeek," declared Magi, drawing her sword.
"I got the Lark," announced Suzu, unsheathing her blade.
"The SnowBlow is mine," affirmed Aya, freeing her weapon.

They all then shimmered, dissolving into the aether, and disappeared. Drago was the first to reappear, shimmering back into his solid form while directly next to the Slimey, underwater. Even while in the weightless environment under the Sea, he still bent his knees and assumed a runner's stance, hands splayed out in front of him as if he was standing on the ground. His wings, and invisible flight program, corrected for any drift and current. He glanced about to see if there were any other viruses he could draw a bead towards, adjusting his stance accordingly. When he would begin his dash, he would make sure to hit something(s) else. There was a click and whirl of unseen gears as he shifted, his body beginning to vibrate to high intensity. Magi, Suzu, and Aya appeared in melee range of their chosen targets, their heavy steel gleaming in the sun. Reflecting the rays off the bright sand and ocean surface.

The three swordswomen slashed across all three viruses. The blades sung out as they cut the air in a wide arc, perhaps catching any nearby viruses in the swing. These weapons were a little unwieldy, so the trio had wanted to leverage their sudden appearance to catch their enemy off-guard, hoping to deal them a devastating blow before they could react. Meanwhile Drago exploded out of the water like a speeding, submersible train. He plowed through the surf and turf like a hurricane, and blowing any viruses away that were caught within his gale. He had started his sprint next to the Slimey. Hopefully, in his haste he had crushed the creature under him. Although from the onset the pesky virus was emitting lethargic energy all over the place, so Drago might miss or not get as far as he was hoping.

Nightshade embraced the hug, the little ninja navi cuddling himself as close as possible to Drago, letting out a happy excited squeal.

It was the very first time he had ever busted some viruses with his family, so this was like...a nice family outing. He fought a little when he felt the older navi gently settle him down on the sany floor of the beach, but he let himself go, knowing there would be time for cuddles once they were done clearing the beach. In the meantime, Yumi nuzzled her head into Magistrate's hand, purring happily at her mom as she petted her.

It was time for all the Dragoniers to get ready to fight. "Eheheh... we are alot stronger than before! " Nightshade replied to Aya with a confident grin on his face. "Yeah just wait and see!" Yumi said. While Drago and his SPs flew upwards, Nighty and Yumi decided to stay more grounded and attack from below. "Alright Yumi, let's go!" Nighthsade stated, looking for his targets and spreading his arms wide.

The little wyvern jumped up at his navi partner and wrapped her fuzzy paws around Nightshade's chest. In a matter of moments, their code was merging together and tightly fusing into a single entity. Nighty let out a soft sigh as a new layer of armor appeared and wrapped around his body.,encasing his black ninja outfit in blue scales and leather with red and gold trims. In a matter of moments, Nighty's powers increased as his new outfit tightener around his body to deepen the fusion and allow Yumi to better merge her mind with his own.

Nighty stretched and wriggled both his gloved fingers and toes. He was feeling better than ever.

"Alright! We will take the Powies!" Yumishade declared, sneaking up towards the grassy fields where his targets were resting. The little ni ja would move low on the ground, using Yumi's powers to cancel out his steps and prowl quietly.

The navi slowly approached the pair of Powies, creating a clone to distract the viruses so he could attack from behind. With the clone doung weird faces and taunts at the powies, Yumishade sprung into action!

The ninja navi pounced at the powies, lining himself up withthem and releasing a shot of heat to hopefully use the grassy field to his advantage. Making sure to remain mobile, Yumishade would quickly retreat from his sneak attack to a safer place.

Yumi 1: Yumi Defense 1 [Yumi]
Yumi 2: Dodge.
A lovely day at the beach was interrupted by viruses, but the small army of bounty-hunting programs were quick to respond. More or less. In a flash, the dragoniers called orders and moved through their usual battle tactics, zipping into the sky as they raised their defences, and leaving Nightshade and Yumi on the sand to sync themselves up more closely.

While the shelled virus amongst the rocks sealed tight for now, the lark bobbed on the surface of the water, looking at the beach. With only Nightshade in its sights now, it sent a broad blast of water tearing across the waves and up the sand towards him, bu the navi and his Sp were already darting away, meaning to evade the water shot as they took to the dunes.

The Snowblow stopped playing with the sand and looked up to the many programs floating above, then inhaled deeply, pulling the sky-borne figures down and closer to it, before huffing out again in dissatisfaction. The gale created a brief flurry of disorienting turbulence as Drago, Aya, Suzume and Magistrate all felt their external barriers cleanly blown away.

While this was going on, the two Powies both jumped skyward as well, seeking a good perspective on the beach below. Each one manged to buffet one of Drago's support programs, though the soft-body contact didn't do any more to inconvenience them than the blast of wind had. Looking down, however, the two viruses spied Nightshade still on the ground, and in two different places, no less. How convenient.

The awkward aerial antics didn't stop the virus-hunters them from continuing with their plans, however, and after taking stock of the field, the four split up to teleport to their respective targets. As Drago appeared underwater, the Slimey attempted to lunge at him, but misjudged the blue of his teleport and filed to connect. The other three had to content with even less aggression as they all arrived unhindered by their respective viral marks.

The Powies, meanwhile, transformed into heavy pressing weights and attempted to crash land on the sneaking navi below. One slammed down near the Nightshade that was mocking it, crashing into the sand with a thump... It missed the clone completely, however, and received more mocking for its efforts. The other Powie directed its attack towards the second Nighshade, and though the duo worked together to get away from any such assault, the churning sand and the already slow feeling that pervaded the area made avoiding the dropping assault too hard, and both received a shuddering impact as the virus landed on them.

Out at sea, Drago braced himself then blasted forward through the water, shredding the Slimey as he went; the contact with the virus stun, a little, but its goo was unable to slow him, and as it was destroyed, the heavy, slow feeling covering the beach dissipated as well. His dash continued up out of the water, splashing in a fury as he tore across the sand and obliterated the Powie that had failed to attack Nightshade's decoy as well, before reaching the end of his run.

In the same moment, Aya, Suzume and Magistrate all struck as well, cleaving their blades through their respective targets. Aya and Suzume cleanly eliminated their viruses with precision; just enough power and no excess. Magistrate struck the Shellnerd, still hiding in its hard shell, and her break sword pulverised the critter beyond all recognition.

Not to be left out, Nightshade shook off the sand coating him and aimed an attack of hit own at the remaining Powie, scorching it badly, though there was no hiding the fact that it had a clean bead on him, so he didn't manage to do as much damage as he might have hoped. Even so, the battle wasn't over, and both he and Yumi, who had taken a few uncomfortable hits already, prepared some strong defences to ensure they received no more damage before the fight ended.

throughout all of this, the little metool continued to dig in the sand, piling up more onto the mound beside its deepening hole. the sounds of battle startled it and it ducked under its helmet with a shocked 'Meep!', just as the impacts and vibrations caused a portion of the loose sand to cascade back down on top of it.

As they were about to launch back into the sky and dive upon the remaining enemies, Magistrate and Aya tossed data packets at YumiShade. "You better heal up my daughter if you know what's good for you!" Magi called out to them. "Here 'Shade, you're going to need something strong against that hiding Met!" battlechips. They would need to activate the battlechips themselves, but at least they had time to do so, as the battlefield was mostly clear of the swarm of enemies that assailed them on the onset.

The dragoniers performed the same skyward soar and teleporting dive to appear near the remaining Powie. All four lay into the enemy with a set of triple punches and triple slashes. Though assuming the Powie was torn to ribbons by the fury of attacks, and there was some left over punishment for the Metool, the remaining violence would bolt over to where it was trying to bury itself and attempt to pulp the virus. Their weapons would once more shatter over the extreme use. The dragoniers were not a subtle bunch, handling their weapons with finesse. They clubbed the viruses like baby seals.

Ayashade nodded, quickly grabbing his the two chips and got on the move. First he would transfer the healing chip to his armor, effectively healing Yumi. Then, he would quickly grab and equip the other chip that had been tossed to him. With his hands now incredibly big, Ayashade got back at the powie still remaining for hurting them. He would use the clone ability to fein and strike from a sudden lunge, hoping to send the guy straight to the blast zone.

Then, it was the moment to deal with the mettaur, he would quickly blitz trhough the wide open area to punch the guy and hopefully put it out of commission. Of course, he would still make sure to keep mobile so he would not get hit again.

Action 6: Nightshade Defense 2

Yumi 1: Yumi Defense 1 [Yumi]
Yumi 2: Dodge.
While Aya and Magistrate supplied some supporting chips to help Nightshade and Yumi finish what they'd started, the ninja-duo took full use of the offering and successfully smashed the remaining Powie from the network. As they did, the damaged ground beneath them crumbled away, dropping the unified pair into a hole in the sand, but to no real harm, fortunately.

Not to leave any loose ends, the remaining group members descended upon the other hole in the beach. The little Metool had peeked out from under its helmet and started shaking the sand of itself, but look up as shadows fell over its dig site. A very small 'meep?' was the last uncertain sound to escape before they rapidly pummelled it into junk data.

With the battle ended, the group were free to shake themselves out and gather their spoils from across the beach sands. No useful chip data had survived this time, it seemed, but frags and Zenny were strewn about, and the unearthed mystery data was also waiting for their attention.

DragonierMan, Magistrate, Suzume, and Aya took a few minutes picking through the trophies of battle. Aya threw Nightshade and Yumi a 'thumb's up' as they defused after the battle. "Well, that went better than expected for our first battle," she said as she walked over to the pair. "Looks like our training didn't go to waste. Ready for another round?" she asked as the group readied themselves for a stroll on the beach.

Suzu matched pace and came up beside Nighty and Yumi. "So how are you doing on your first run with us? Got any questions that Big Sis' Suzume can answer?" she asked the pair.

[Requesting Battle 2.]
Nightshade nodded vigorously. "Yeah! I'm ready to take down anything!" He said, visibly hyped about the battles to come. He would scurry over to Aya for a big ol' hug, hopping on her back and wrappinghis arms around her neck. Yumi was more quiet and controlled, merely following along trying not to get her paws a little too dirty. She looked over to Suzume and shook her head.

"We are doing fine...I think. Though this stuff doesn't seem like any challenge for any of you. The fight was over so soon."

[Requesting battle 2]
After gathering their spoils, the group continued further down the sand, looking for more targets to hunt on the idyllic waterfront. Unfortunately, if the hunters wanted to take time to chat and enjoy the sun and the waves, they weren't given much opportunity; the Powie problem they'd been sent to take care of seemed to be a particularly bad infestation right around this area, and they hadn't gone very farm before they spied several more of the peculiar viruses making their way across the dunes up ahead.

Before they could engage, however, a deep rumbling in the sand suddenly burst into a fountaining column of mud that made a broad geyser and rained down across the nearby beach in wild splatters. It swiftly formed a trenched pool in the middle of the beach ahead of them, and the muddy shapes of more viruses swam around gleefully in the newly formed pool. dopey, mud-covered expressions peeked up at them with blissfully vacant eyes. The rumbling hadn't stopped, however, and the mud was spreading further, and further, as the groundswell continued.

-=Battle 2, Start!=-
Suzume smirked, "Yeah, we are pretty great. It comes with experience. I'm sure that you'll get the hang of it over time like we did," she replied to Yumi. Meanwhile, Aya pitched forward a little when Nightshade got up on the dragon's back, but was quick to stabilize herself with a flap of her wings. "Hey! Watch it kid," she snarled. "I'm not a jungle gym you can just jump up on and hang."

However, before she could continue, there was a tremor. The beach sands exploded outwards moments later as a gyser of mud erupted from the ground. The four dragoniers leaped back from the splatter as viruses started emerging from the muck. "Suzume, Aya," DragonierMan called out. "Blast them!" He had hoped to slay them in a preemptive attack before they could act.

The twins immediately moved forward and raised their hands, cupping them together as energy coalesced within. Bright shining lights danced about them as they charged their attack, glittering like ghosts. Each sister took aim at the group of Powies, then there was a sudden thunderclap and a roar as they launched their attacks. A duet of glowing, whirling spheres spun around each other in a ballet, heading towards the enemy formation. They exploded among the virals in plumes of white-hot energy, scorching anything unlucky enough to avoid them.

As the mud continued to pour out, Drago felt something, a tingle on the back of his neck. There were more viruses coming. He might need some more help. He pulled out a small figurine of a swordsman and tossed it into the dunes before him. "We require your aid. Come forth and fight!" he commanded as the figurine sunk into the sand. Moments later a viral form arose, clad in turquoise armor, with a purple spike protruding from his helmet like a crystalized feather. It drew forth a blade that ignited in sapphire flames.

"Destroy those coming from the Mud!" Drago ordered his new warrior. The knight teleported toward the center of the large Mud pool and began hacking, slashing, and stabbing at any virus it could reach. Its blade crackled like fire and sang like a songbird as it cut through the air. Even though the Mud was all around, it could not coat the shining blade. The unearthly blaze dissolved away, almost instantly, any muck that splashed against it.

Magistrate stood back from all this carnage and watched as the enemy began to split up. She raised her hands as three globes of light shimmered into being around her head. With a flick of her wrist, she sent them lancing out like arrows loose from a master archer, slicing through the air towards the three Powies. The beams lashed out like snakes, twisting and zigzagging, and changing direction on a dime through the air as they gave chase to the pillowy viruses. They sought their targets with the same vigor as a skilled predator (or they went after whatever three enemies were left).

"Defensive maneuvers!" Drago shouted again, as if he needed to, and the four dragoniers took to the sky. They flew into the air and shimmered out of existence. They began to pile on various defenses as they teleported around seemingly at random to different areas of the battlefield. As they reemerged onto the scene, they flew towards the four cardinal directions as they got a bird's eye view of the situation.

Well, it seemed it was once again time to get back to work. Nightshade hugged Aya before hopping off and hi-fiving Yumi, navi and sp bonding together again to take on the next set of viruses. Seeing as his sisters and dad had already went ahead and targeted the powies with their chips, Ayashade worked on the mudfishes.

First, he would materialize an electric chakram in his hand, flip and spin and hurl the thing at the first fish in sight. Then, using Yumi's ability, he would blits the second one in a flash, split into two to weave around and strike with his own claws.

Yumi 2: Dodge.
Under assault, the team sprang to battle swiftly. More swiftly, in fact, than any of the approaching viruses really seemed to be expecting: Aya and Suzume blasted the group of on-coming powies with twin tank shells before any of them could hop away, cutting the battle in half in an instant.

While Drago summoned yet another ally to the field, and sent it warping forward into the mud pit, Nightshade followed their cue and backed the sword-wielding summon up with electrical ranged support. As the Swordy swung at the two Mudfeesh in the pool, it missed one, but the other was struck by Nightshade's electrical attack and was stunned long enough for the Swordy's blade to finish it off. The mud churned the Swordy swung about, focusing on the remaining virus, but Magistrate eliminated it with a dispassionately precise thunder beam from afar.

Thee was a moment of quiet as the field was clear, before the rumbling in the ground started up again, and more bursts of mud began to erupt from the sand all around them. The dragoniers raised their defences and moved up and back to survey the field, while Nightsahde and Yumi protected themselves as well, taking up more central position near the summoned Swordy while they prepared for further attack.

It came a moment later in the form of a large RainGear, bursting up from the mud directly in front of Nightsahde. It bubbled the mud and hissed a plume of dense fog as it glared at the feline navi. Off in the sea, to one side, tow other figures emerged, raiding their eyes above the water's surface; the looked like little viral ninjas, preparing for an amphibious assault.

-=Turn 2!=-
"We'll take the swiming ninjas, you three stay on shore and fight them as they come!" DragonierMan said as the four fliers vanished, shimmering into the aether once more. When they reappeared again, attempting to dodge any counter attack, they tried to get as close to the Genin as they could. The three dragonier women unsheathed their swords and struck at the ninjas, fulfilling the universe's samurai vs. ninjas quotient for today. Drago had a slightly different plan, and used the distraction of his three murderous companions to try to sneak in to snag one of the Genins' clothing with elongated, sharp bear claws. If he managed to grab the the slippery shinobi, a flex of his toned muscles would attempt to toss the virus at its companion.

Meanwhile, the Swordy3 joined YumiShade in stabbing and slashing the enemy Raingear. It tried to teleport around its rain and get into a tactically sound spot for it to swipe its sword. The azure blade lanced out to pierce the fluffy cloud virus, hacking at its bushy body like hedge clippers, or like a machete through the jungle.

The four dragoniers took to the sky after delivering their attacks. As they flew, they reapplied the various defenses they had probably lost in the struggle with the Genin. It wasn't long until they returned to their previously claimed areas of the battlespace, flying high above the ground.

Nighty felt a tug on his body and a squeeze as he planted his tabi boots into the mud for more traction. He could feel his bond with Yumi grow deeper and deeper the more he wore her as his armor and fough together. So, the viruses seemed to just keep on coming. Well then they would keep on busting. They were attacking them with ninjas, but the Dragonieers could count on their own Ninja as well. With Aya's training and Yumi's insticts, there was no way Nighty could lose.

He would mobe on at the next target, quickly using the added mobility of his tabi boots to skim acrouss the mud and jump onto the swordy's head as a trampoline. He would then pounce the RainGear virus ready to rip him to shreds. He made a mental note to tell Aya that she was right. Her boots were hella comfy and nice if you had to run around alot.

Action 2: Nightshade Defense 2
Action 3: RageClaw1Damage: 40 + Slashing (Attack) OR 20 + Impacting (Throw)
Accuracy: B / B then B
Description: Creates an impressive bear claw. Can be used to slash or throw enemies or objects.
Duration: Until Overridden/Broken. Breaks automatically after 6 uses.
Element: Null
Special: Throw: The wielder must first grab the target to be thrown, then the target is thrown in the direction/area indicated. A second check is made if against another object/enemy. Throw deals damage to both thrown object/enemy and the second object/enemy. Damage occurs at point of collision with the ground/wall/ceiling/etc. or an object/enemy, not during initial grab attempt. Objects deal their max HP in damage (instead of the chip's damage) if they hit an object/enemy, then break. If they miss, the object just takes the chip's damage. This chip has a variety of uses.
