Mission: The monster of the Viral Lab

In short, Enigma was disgusted. There was no other way to put it. He was covered in snot, everything around him was covered in snot, he was moving slower because of the snot, and he was fighting something made out of snot. It was like something out of a small child's nightmare, except this had more teeth. Many, many more teeth. So, instead of valiantly charging at the Snorgmorphophage, Enigma instead trudged backwards a bit, ego twinging in pain from the amounts of mucus that were currently liquefying his data.

Enigma! Should I send something? Ceres called, sounding vaguely worried, but Enigma could tell without looking that he was probably cracking up in the coffee shop.

No, he replied rather tersely, and instead continued trudging, but angling slightly towards XIII. Oddly enough, the snot on his body was making it so he no longer had the capability to "blob," so he had to literally form legs, feet, and balance systems just so he could make his way around the battlefield. With each step, his foot was lifted out of the muck with a sickening thuck noise, an individual suction cup-like vacuum to break on every footfall. When he deemed he was close enough, he looked around himself, making sure that there was excess data floating about so that he wouldn't be harming himself in the process of his next maneuver.

Don't use too much of your energy, Ceres warned, scrolling through his PET chip-list rapidly at the same time. Feeling tense suddenly, he stood up from his chair, scaring the barista slightly. She looked up inquisitively, saw the PET in his hands, sighed, and then went back to texting one of her friends disinterestedly.

I'm not an idiot, snapped Enigma, who had siphoned a good portion of data from his excess by then. XIII, you need to be more careful, he admonished, and then directed the newfound stream of data in a roughly pixelated Medic-heal-beam-esque line towards XIII. Now, it's time for me to get healthier, he announced, frowning slightly.

Make it original, because that thing is resistant, Ceres added in from the sidelines, choosing an optimal chip for the situation as he did so. Pressing a few buttons on his PET rapidly, he made it so that the chip would be ready for immediate selection, should Enigma need more assistance.

Now, what's the best thing to wipe up snot? Enigma pondered, going through his usual transformation ideas ("Sword? Axe? Arrows? Daggers? Gun?") before actually answering his own question. Smirking slightly, he wiped off some of the remaining snot on his shoulder and chest before rapidly disassembling himself. In a matter of seconds, nothing was left but a swirling vortex of indigo data points. In another, say, five-second interval, the pixels were gone as well, having pieced together a sort of box. Not just any box...

A box of Kleenex.

Better than usual, Ceres commented, who had looked up at Enigma casually from his rather unnecessary deep strategical thoughts.

Enigma didn't respond, seeing as he didn't like talking when his present form lacked a mouth, but instead advanced, hovering slightly, towards the Snorgmorphophage. The box seemed to ripple up and down for a moment, as if hesitating; then, without warning, a sudden stream of flowing, rippling data (in separate pieces) began to stream out towards the Snorgmorphophage. A... tissue gun. Within seconds, dozens of Kleenex-brand Antibacterial tissues were speeding towards their adversary. Whether they hit the Snorgmorphophage or not, they certainly wiped up a good portion of snot from who-knows-where, and this, much to Enigma's distaste, came back to him in the form of several dozen used tissues. They merged back with him quickly, recovering some lost data, but doing nothing for Enigma's morale. I dislike this thing more and more as time goes on, he grumbled, morphing back into his (default?) humanoid form as he spoke.

I'm sending you a Flameline. It should help clear up its nostrils a bit, Ceres informed Enigma, delighted at his own play on words.

Gee, aren't we clever, Enigma replied icily, but knew the gist of Ceres' plan immediately. Quickly, he accepted the 'pending chip request!' notice and watched with mild interest as the usual cylindrical weapon formed on his right arm. As usual. How boring.

Sir! Further orders, sir? the AirRaid pilot demanded, making Enigma jump; he'd forgotten about the air-support unit.

Ah! Same thing as last time around, Enigma said quickly, and then turned to the Snorgmorphophage with an air of determination.

Yes sir! the pilot cried loyally, and then plunged his previously-circling plane into danger yet again, letting his machine guns loose on the mucus monstrosity. He kept the same tactic as he had earlier; dogfighting at its best.

Enigma, however, was contemplating how best to make his plan work. Raising the hunk of Net-metal in a tube form curiously, he took an experimental aim at the Snorgmorphophage, trying to predict how best to use the wide range of the Flameline. The only really useful purpose he could think of for it was to get rid of some of the disgusting snot around him, or to whittle down at the immediate enemy; if everything worked as he planned. Stay still, you, he growled to the Snorgmorphophage, as if it could hear him. Aiming carefully down the barrel of the Flameline, he slowly moved it downwards until the tick mark rested somewhere near the bottom of the Snorgmorphophage's great mucus-y mass, merged in with the terrain oddly. Holding his breath, Enigma slowly squeezed down on the trigger, and then, with an intimidating fwisssh sound, flames burst from the barrel, reaching outwards with fiery tendrils at the Snorgmorphophage and its excretions, burning for a solid three seconds before the flames dissipated entirely. Feeling satisfied with the most recent barrage, Enigma danced backwards nimbly, not wanting to get mucked up in any more snot.

XIII, Kasumi, be more careful, Ceres warned, and then came up with an idea. If you have any chips for it, try to burn away at the snot as well, then we can clear a path and strike at it up close and personal.

XIII, I'll try to distract him a bit, Enigma confided in his partner, and then suddenly lunged forwards slightly, heading for the Snorgmorphophage for a good few steps before angling slightly to the side and circling around the beastie continually, summoning up a separate "shield" of data to protect the side facing the Snorgmorphophage while he did so.

Enigma, you need to stop doing that... Ceres grumbled, and received no response for his efforts.

Taking a risk, sir! the pilot informed Enigma, oddly enough, and began circling the Snorgmorphophage in a direction opposite Enigma, firing a few more harassing shots for good measure.

Thanks...

"Thanks for the distraction Enigma!" XIII yelled. Kasumi had already found the chip she was looking for.
"Alright, XIII, PhoenixShot1, Slot in!"

The Navi took careful aim at the shot monster, the data flying from the gun on his hand almost faster than the gun itself could form. THe blase of erupting fire formed into the shape of a giant fiery bird as it raked its flaming wings across the area towards its target.

Enigma grabs out some data from the air and uses it to heal XIII. He then took control of his transformation abilities and shot some tissues, wiping up some health from the Snorgmorphophage in the process. XIII blasted forward with a PhoenixShot while Enigma came down with a Flameline, both flaming attacks singing some of the terrain clear and hitting their mark. The monster let out another shriek, and soon filled in the gap, so there was still... a giant swamp of mucus.
Hey! Did it seem like it was receding?
Indeed, the Snorgmorphophage seemed to be sucking in the snot from the area, limiting the terrain to a boggy pond around itself.
Another garbled cry and [/i]something[/i] seemed to be building up in what could be called the throat of the monster. There appeared to be some odd bubbling in the Snorgmophophage's gaping open mouth.
The Fighterplane shot at it, but it only went through the monster, not damaging it at all.
As if sensing the attack, lines of snot shot out from the pool and converged under the Fighterplane, and then buffeted it with a rising column of mucus, which cleared away to reveal a heavily bogged down version of the summoned object.

"XIII! Lets try and stop him in his tracks!" Kasumi yelled into the reciever. "Bubbstar1, Zapring1, Elecreel1, Fireburn1, slot in!"

The virus was probably too large to contain entirely in a bubble, but the bubbstar could atleast trap a good-sized portion of it. That's all XIII needed to pull this off. He fired the bubble right at the large virus, waiting a second for it to score the hit. "Alright! now for the followup!" The navi charged forward, letting of the blast of the zapring through the air in the same path as the bubble. The sword at his hip had already been charged with the Elecreel by now, so he whipped it out of it's sheath, letting loose a massive surge of electricity, all heading for the virus and its bubble-trapped part.

"Enigma, aim for it now! It should be in a bad way after that!" He yelled over to his partner in the battle. "I'll try and clear a path!"
He was already running around, aiming up with the other exposed parts of the virus and the goopy snot covered ground. It was then that XIII let the Fireburn fly, causing him to streak across his target line with a burning trail behind him. With any luck, not only would it damage the virus alot, but it would also burn away alot of the snot on the floor infront of them.

Thanks, Kasumi, XIII, Ceres nodded, and then slotted in a trio of chips before Enigma could even request them. Big combo and not-so-big chip coming your way, he advised, and then frowned, looking through his chips again rather nervously. Peering to the left and right cautiously, he drew out a cigarette as quietly as he could and took a puff (after lighting it), inhaling and exhaling deeply.

Excellent, thanks, Enigma replied, inclining his head slightly to XIII and Ceres before disappearing in a small burst of static-y indigo data bursts, re-appearing a split second later literally right in front of the Snorgmorphophage. Peering downwards with a look of almost snobby disgust at the oozing mass of nasal residue, he turned the grimace into a smirk readily as the Bighammer appeared slowly but consistently on his right arm. Still hovering at the peak of his 'leap,' Enigma raised the hammer slowly behind him so that the head of the gargantuan mallet was actually below his torso before gravity began to take the reins from inertia. As he fell, he would up and used his momentum to propel the hammer downwards upon the monstrosity as best he could, hopefully surprising it before it could realize that there was a small figure attempting to make a serious dent in it. However, before the hammer could have a chance to hit, pixelated additions began to form on the hammer, oddly purple-colored. Just as it was supposed to smash into the top parts of the Snorgmorphophage, Enigma had added an 'accuracy booster' of his own that would hopefully prevent the beast from simply moving around it. It measured almost the diameter of the mucus monster and was roughly circular, so it would hopefully be hard to hit.

Why can't you do that all the time? Ceres laughed, crossing his arms and grinning with the tempting lit cigarette clutched tightly between index and middle fingers, smoke unfolding towards the ceiling leisurely.

Because it's hard, Enigma grunted, doing his best to avoid the majority of the snot as he "blobbed" towards the ground, Bighammer dissipating into nothingness as he did so.

I bet things would go a lot smoother, either way, Ceres muttered, and then took another tobacco-filled breath to satisfy himself, beginning to say something to Enigma, mouth open and everything, but he was interrupted by--

No smoking, sorry, the ... was it a waitress, or a cashier, or a barista? Ceres couldn't tell, so he decided she was just the cashier, and so the cashier said. It's a law here. I don't particularly like it myself, she grunted, an obvious smoker's rasp sneaking into her voice. Of course, it was obvious enough to Ceres.

Oh, I'm sorry... he responded, slightly startled, and slightly unsure of how to get rid of it, as the no-smoking restaurant had neglected to provide ashtrays.

You said you'd quit, Enigma said quietly, stopping as soon as he hit the ground to look at his Op.

I-- I did, but... Ceres stumbled, but didn't seem to be able to come up with a sufficient excuse. Sorry, he added to the clerk, dashing outside quickly to put his 'deathstick' out in a nearby grubby and overused ashtray. He ran back in quickly, insides going cold at the realization that he had actually promised Enigma that he'd stop.

We'll talk about this later, Enigma said slowly, deliberately, and icily, all at once and somehow ominous. Now, what chip did you give me? he murmured, and saw the Shotgun in the 'waiting chip' list. Looking back and forth between the Snorgmorphophage, and seeing that XIII was already running, he decided to follow and GTFO there.

Meanwhile, the AirRaid pilot wasn't doing so well. Before he had a chance to eject, his plane was mucked up and brought down somewhere on the normal terrain. Climbing out of the plane in a hurry, the pilot began digging snot out of his engines as fast as he could, knowing that he was running out of fuel as it was. Mayday, sir, back in action ASAP, he reported to Enigma not via radio but via ... shouting at the top of his lungs. Enigma just nodded, shot Ceres 'a look,' and eyed the Snorgmorphophage cautiously.

Unfortunately, before either XIII or Enigma could move, the Snorgmorphophage had finished... charging or whatever, it didn't help that the Bubble Star was ultra slow. A terrifying screech erupted from the snot monster as a white mess of mucus and god-knows-what *Phwoot'd" out of the creature's main gaping orfice and shredded through the air toward the two.
XIII followed up with his array of chips, a Zapring, an Elecreel, and a Fireburn, but the goddamn thing wouldn't slow down. The Elecreel managed to connect through the snotty attack.
Suffice to say, the two were head to toe in goo of questionable variety, and were heavily restricted. Enigma still managed to whack the monster with his Bighammer, but he got kind of grounded RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT.
Giant tentacles sprung from the Snorgmorphophage as its displaced eyes focused on Enigma hungrily. Something akin to a tongue licked across its own face.
Oh shit.

The pilot managed to get himself free, only to be completely devastated by the aforementioned attack.

Enigma, although previously unsure, had had a feeling that something of this sort was going to happen if he didn't get away quickly enough.

Too bad he didn't, right?

Ceres? he questioned politely, looking up to his Op curiously.

Yeah? Ceres replied just as meekly, sighing.

Would you kindly tell me... ah... WHAT THE HELL I'M SUPPOSED TO DO!? he raged.

Heal XIII, was all Ceres offered, shrugging. Most of your stuff is on cooldown right now, so just sit tight and hope our partners solve all of our problems, or try to hack your way out-- the latter, I don't see as highly possible...

Fine. Whatever, Enigma said, turning to XIII, and then thinking about something. Since when was I the angry one, Ceres?

It could be the smoking, Ceres said quietly. Knowing what Enigma's response would be, he sat back in his chair uneasily, waiting for the turnout of the current battle undertaking.

You--... we'll talk about this after I'm not being tentacle raped, Enigma growled, his mood plunging back into the sulky, unpleasant sort. XIII, I need you to help get us OUT of these things; I'm running low on good chips, he explained, then quickly gathered what was left of the data around him, gathering it into a pulsating orb above his head. Here, this should help, he added, rather reluctantly sending the healing data towards his partner rather than himself. Looking down at himself for the first time since he'd been seized by the tentacles, he was sorely disappointed by his eyes.

Bits of disgusting nasal particles covered him in every manner possible. Some white bits, a lot of green bits, but what was really nasty was the occasional dot of red-- were there Net blood-transmitted diseases? Enigma hoped not. Ceres, can I get the Dashattack? he requested, getting an idea.

Right away, Ceres said in a mock-servant voice, slotting the chip in with mock eagerness. Geez, what a dick, eh?

Ready for take-off, Enigma reported with a sadistic grin, twisting himself around in the snotty grip so he wouldn't be jerked about TOO badly when the Dashattack le--...

Well, too late. Again. The Fishy-esque addition to his arm sped off in the direction that WASN'T towards that of the Snorgmorphophage before Enigma was ready, reminding him once again why he didn't like that chip. Hopefully, it would have Enigma attached, and free of the Snorgmorphophage's disgusting wrath.

The red-haired navi was struggling free himself from the snotty restraints on his body. His body was aching all over, like he had just been on the business end of a cannonball. And here he was now, being pulled down by a tentacle made of unspeakable substance. In a situation where he normally would have been ultimately grossed out by the entire nature of his confinement.
"Oh god, its like some weird anime!" He managed to free his arm and slash at the tentacles restraining his movement.

"Tenchi, here's your back up! DblBeam! slot in!" his operator slammed the chip into the port, loading the data up. the DblBeam was a bit of a crap-shoot, seeing is the effect was random, but in a situation like this, anything that happened would be good for them.

While the duo are immobilized, slimy, creepy, icky tentacles worm their way toward the two navis as they struggle with their gooey bonds of mucus. Very inappropriate of unknown origin comes on when the "ligaments" slither their way around the navis' bodies, tapping rapidly in odd places, and it kind of hurt, but somehow not in a bad way.

Finally, the two broke free and Enigma floated himself upward, healed XIII, and shot directly toward the Snorgmorphopage, colliding his arm straight into the mucky mass of a monster.
Unfortunately, that kind of made him have his hand stuck in the monster. o_O
Said creature began to cackle inhumanely as it opened its mouth, WIDE, and descended upon Enigma.

A flashing cube interrupted the monster's rampage as it finally settled on a deep crimson color and blasted a ray of red at the creature, who pulled back a bit, carrying Enigma with it. The blobby navi was a bit dazed from the dragging, so he wouldn't recover just yet.

The Rampaging Snorgmorphophage: 370 HP (snot) (Stun! -1 Action)

While happy to be, for the majority, away from the Snorgmorphophage, Enigma wasn't exactly happy about still having most of an appendage stuck inside of a giant hunk of goo. What's worse was that he couldn't even disassemble his arm; the snot had pretty much glued his data pixels together. Ceres, I need a Heatshot, he said, suddenly sounding urgent. Things weren't looking up; too much damage was being dealt to himself and XIII and not enough to the weird snotty freak... thing.

Coming, coming-- also, I'm sending a Wideshot, heal XIII with it, Ceres advised, and then slotted in the two chips as he had said he would.

Thanks, Enigma nodded, then felt his arm expanding inside of the Snorgmorphophage as a Heatshot formed on the end of his arm. Slowly, but surely, snot was creeping inside of the barrel, too; he'd have to act fast. This is going to smell terrible, grimaced the indigo warrior, and then pulled the trigger with olfactory senses completely turned off. Within seconds, flames were bursting from his arm everywhere inside of the Snorgmorphophage; hopefully, it'd be enough to burn his way out. Still unsure of his predicament, Enigma quickly assigned the Wideshot to his free arm (hopefully recoil-free, considering he wasn't actually firing it) and aimed it at XIII. Wordlessly, he consumed the weapon with indigo data and converted it into usable data for any navi, and sent it to his ally-- roughly half of its damaging power. Hit it--now! he yelled, then tried to jerk his arm out from the Snorgmorphophage and started running... hopefully, if he managed to get out of the snot-monster, he'd not get mucked up in the snotty terrain, either.

Kasumi! Use a Rockcube! It's good cover, and we can send it flying later! Ceres called over his PET mic. And don't let anything hit Enigma!

I'll be fine...

XIII clutched his side. He was hurting bad, and whatever wasn't hurting was going rather numb. There was even a little blood trickling down his side, and the navi couldn't help but look at it and once again find it kind of odd that his programmer input this realistic looking bump-mapping for damage. "Remi, I think the time to play this safe is gone. Enigma is starting to pull out the stops... I'm going to use one of the crosses..."

His operator nodded and selected the function on the screen, transmitting the data into the net. The navi was standing to receive it, letting go of his side. the space around him started distorting, and the energy surging through him was partially reviving him somewhat, regardless of his immense damage. "Mach 13, Another type!" he yelled, the last bit of the transformation taking hold when the wil'o'whisp flames popped up around him. "Thanks Remi. This might not be enough, but I'm going to give it my all!"

"Wait, XIII... not yet..." His operator stopped his movement forward immediately. It wasn't necessarily that she told him to stop that made him halt so quickly, but rather her voice betrayed a hesitation to mention something to him.
"what... what is it Remi?"
His operator was silent for a second. "Umm, there's something else we can do... I finished putting in a special program last night, it could help you guys win, but...."
"But what?" the navi was a little bit confused. Usually when Kasumi had an ace up he sleeve, she'd use it when ever the chance seemed good. Rarely did she ever hold back on a job, especially like this.

"well XIII" Kasumi responded, "Its a program that can up your defense and attack concentration... but the code is far too over powered for your standard function; it causes a potentially dangerous shock to your system."
XIII was still not entirely clear on it. "What's that supposed to mean? Why don't we just use it?"
"It means that by using it, you might go crazy for a little while, and with each subsequent use without defraging your data afterward, you risk corrupting a portion of your data."

there was silence on the communication line for a moment. Then XIII said, "Kasumi, just use it." He used her real name instead of her usual nickname. "I trust your programming skill."
"A-alright XIII. I'm also giving you a Cannon chip." She slid the chip inside the slot and XIII's arm changed to the projectile's barrel. Her finger hesitated over the sig-command icon though. "XIII... be careful..."
"Don't worry, Remi..."

Her finger hit the button, and a sudden jolt went through XIII's body. The navi crest located on his chest started emitting a high pitched noise and this cold blue luminescence that seemed to flood the area with its icy light. XIII's eyes were vacant to the point of looking emotionless, and his gaze was locked directly on the main body of the enemy. All that his mind was processing was the most direct, undeterred course of action for utterly destroying the pile of snotty data infront. Even the pain and hesitation that had been coursing through his body was gone now; not numbed or reduced, just plain missing, like he was unable to process data in that fashion.
"XIII?" Kasumi tried to get his attention. "XIII, are you... ok?"
"... delete...."

He lifted his cannon arm, and the power started charging through it as the special mode focused the power beyond its usual limits.
".... DELETE!....."
The navi yelled a blood-curdling cry into the air as he let loos the powered cannon shot at the giant monster. XIII charged forward, drawing the double energy blades at his side the moment his hands reverted back to normal. Even without the command from his operator, he started performing his upgraded sig attack, the Legendary Cross. The double power strikes wipped across his target, the cold efficiency of his movements guiding the blades with a surgeon's precision and an assassin's mercilessness.

Enigma, stunned for the moment, groaned as he came back to his senses, and quickly jettisoned himself from the boogerish monstrosity with a well-placed Heatshot. But due to that, it didn't look like he could use more than one chip at a time, since the arm data had overheated in the blast, but Enigma was amorphous as his enemy, so it really didn't matter. The phasing entity sighed as he ran far far away from the opponent and blasted some healing magic at XIII, while a bunch of slimy fists nearly hit him in his dashing escape.

XIII went to pull out all the stops, going into his most valued cross of speed, Mach 13, Another Type. Following it up, Kasumi activated a sort of berserker state for her navi, causing him to laugh madly and fire a quite overpowered Cannon at the Snorgmorphophage, which recoiled from the blow, letting out a terrifying inhuman screech and spewing out a silky stream of its own mucus at the fighters, Enigma blocking the attack with his fluctuating nature, and XIII a bit more resistant due to the HardBody state he was granted with by his newest signature attack. Roaring in bloodlust, the samurai dashed menacingly at the opponent, cutting not once, but twice at the monster, causing it to slump down in agony.

"It's weak, just a bit more to go and the core will be able to be snatched!" Professor Curtis Falceon, who was really standing right next to Kasumi this entire time and totally not ignored for the entirety of this battle, commented enthusiastically.

The Rampaging Snorgmorphophage: 195 HP (snot)

Terrain: 30% Snot (Slows Dodges, around Snorgmorphophage), 70% Normal

XIII.exe: 41 HP (MachCross Lv. 2) [Hardbody] (Slow)
Engima.exe: 20 HP
XIII, this is the final push! Enigma yelled over the screeches of the monstrosity. Just a few more hits, and it's down!

Hit it with your absorb attack, and I'll give you a few chips, Ceres ordered, slotting in two of his last five chips as he did so. Cannon and Shotgun coming your way.

Fair enough, Enigma coughed, and then turned back to face the Snorgmorphophage. Narrowing his eyes, he began siphoning off what was left of his data into a small orb, and it shaped itself as it did so. Within a matter of seconds, a purple bottle had formed itself in front of Enigma, sparking and making all of the weird motions that Enigma's data bits make. And, on the front of the bottle was a large, commercial logo: "VICKS." I hope you like NyQuil, Enigma grinned, sending the bottle of cold medicine flying at the Snorgmorphophage, and when it got close, it exploded, showering the beast in purple liquid. What was left of the liquid sped back to Enigma, healing him as well.

I hope you get some better catch phrases, Ceres added, rolling his eyes. Now hit it some more, would you?

Not the time for that, Enigma grunted, and then carefully aimed the Cannon at the Snorgmorphophage's... eye cavities? Whatever it saw out of, anyways. The blue shot sped towards the snot beast menacingly, and before it could hit, a Shotgun was already fired, aimed for the same place; soon enough, many, many blue bursts were going to meet the Snorgmorphophage with some nasty noises. Jesus, if that doesn't kill it... Enigma grumbled, backpedaling a bit to get a good look at what the enraged, sped-up XIII would.

Enigma's words seemed to be lost on XIII at this point. Its wasn't that he was incapable of hearing the other navi, its was more the fact that XIII was completely unfazed by anything other than his target. Kasumi was eyeing the gauge on the side of her screen with increasing worry.
"Crap...." She muttered to herself. "The risk of corruption is rising faster than I expected. In a few moments, the fail safe I programmed in will activate; probably about enough time for one more good attack."

She reached into her battle-chip pack, but much to her chagrin, there were really no more chips for her to use. Basically just a counter, a rock cube, and a rage claw. The rage claw was too dangerous, since it could risk bringing the already damaged XIII deeper into harm's way, so she might as well prepare the other two. "XIII, hit him with a charged shot! Make it count!"

XIII just nodded, his bloodthirsty gaze never leaving his target as he slid the two energy blades back into each other. Once again, they appeared to be as a single sword residing in its sheath, the navi holding it at his side as his right arm hovered over the handle. It wasn't very visable normally, but due to the focused boost from the mode he was in, the charging energy managed to encase the entire sword in a sort of weird aura of fluctuating light.

It happened in what seemed like an instant, not even long enough to blink completely. XIII drew the first sword from its "sheath" to land a lightning fast slash across the enemy, and immediately after the second blade (the "sheath") flew across the same path, the energy blade extended out from it.

"Counter1, Slot in!" His operator cried, sliding the chip into the side slots. This was more a precautionary measure, since due to a combination of the nature of that attack and the jarring from the berserker mode wearing off, XIII would have been wide open to attack otherwise.

Enigma's and XIII's attacks all but dissolve the gooey mass that is the Snorgmorphophage. A single, floating, purple orb lies where the abomination once stood...

...and it was gathering mass.

"Now's your chance, Miss Kasumi! Have XIII catch that core data with the NetSword!" Professor Falceon advised.

The Rampaging Snorgmorphophage: DESTROYED.

Core Data: (Gathering Mass)

Terrain: 100% Normal

XIII.exe: 41 HP [Mach 13, Another Type] (One whole goddamn turn to catch the Core Data with the Netsword)
Engima.exe: 40 HP (Doesn't need to do anything)

Quote (Netsword)

-A sword handle, with a long handle and butterfly net coming out of the end. The net looks perfect for swiping that core.
The emergency shut down to the berserker program activated, and XIII found himself staring down the destroyed remains surrounding the core, feeling exhausted and injured.
"XIII!" Kasumi yelled into the microphone. "We can't give it a chance to escape or reform itself!" The jammed the Netsword module into the open slot on her PET.

The Netsword formed up in his hands, and the navi mustered up the remaining ounces of his strength to surge forward, blurring in the air as he went.
"'To the last, I grapple with thee; From Hell's heart, I stab at thee; For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee'!" He yelled at the core, and thrust the tip of the Netsword through the core with surgical accuracy. XIII landed behind the core after the jumping lunge, striking an awesome and dramatic pose.

His operator blinked a couple of times. "That thing you said XIII, that was Herman Melville wasn't it?"
XIII relaxed and slumped down to the floor. "Yeah, Moby Dick. I thought it seemed rather appropriate, considering the circumstances."

Summary
Dramatic quotation of 1800's American novelist
Netsword attack (capture) to the Core
Dramatic finishing pose!
