Exploring Yoka Net

[From Netsquare]
As Delta exited the netsquare platform, he looked around at Yoka. As he finished looking around, he started walking.

Henry said, "Man, the news wasn't exaggerating the situation."

Delta nodded, still looking around.

[Battle 1]
Delta walks through the Yoka network for a while, moving past lakes, bathhouses, pools, and various other bodies of water, and eventually coming across a long stretch of coal terrain with a one-panel-wide path of Normal terrain running through it. Delta decides to continue onward, walking through the coal terrain and across the path, eventually coming to a small pond.

It is an odd mix between bathhouse water and the more traditional kind of pond; while steam rises out of it and it does read as Onsen terrain, the water itself is murky-- and several reeds are growing around the edges. A small path, made out of roughly-worked logs (That are partially submerged) runs across the width of the pond, from the point where Delta is standing to the opposite edge. The path is not perfectly-formed, either; it will be a little tricky to cross.

As Delta prepares for the exercise of crossing it, he notices some shadows in the water... Three pop out to greet him, while one decides to stay submerged. The trio of Piranha then begin to swarm around Delta, clearly looking for a fight.

As the virii popped out of the water, Delta sent a message to Henry, [I've got company. Send me the Zapring and the Shotgun.]

Henry slotted in the chips, then said, "The chips are ready. So what do you think we can find out about the tower?"

Delta formed both hands into busters before answering, [color=red][Not much right now. I think that we'll need help if we want to investigate it.[/color] As he finished speaking, he loaded both chips, the zapring in the left buster, the shotgun in the right one. Both busters charged with energy, but the left one crawled with electricity while the right one showed only a glow within the barrel.

Delta took careful aim with the left buster, then fired a bolt of lightning that transformed into a ring of electricity in flight at one of the piranha virii. Reforming his left hand, he used it to brace the remaining buster before firing a burst of pellets at another piranha.

Reforming his buster into his hand, Delta back stepped to avoid an attack.

A ring of lightning found itself shot across the water's edge, and lodged into a Piranha's wide open maw, killing the target instantly with its electrical properties. A subsequent attack turned a few shotgun shells in another Piranha's way, also removing it from view. The last one mustered its courage and fired three powerful arrows in his way. Fortunately, his dodging allowed him to move away from the attacks, but this caused him to slip and stand on the hot coals that surrounded the pond, burning his feet!

Delta quickly jumped off the coals, then winced, "Note to self: Flaming coals hurt."

Henry picked up a chip and slotted it into the PET before he said, "Try to finish off the last piranha with this minibomb."

Delta nodded, then loaded the mini bomb in his right hand, manifesting a black sphere in it. He then drew back his arm, then hurled the explosive at the remaining virus. Following this, he fired off a buster shot at the underwater creature.

Ordinarily one could hardly be pleased that a piranha had decided to jump up out of the water and try to bite one's face off, but this situation gave Delta a great opportunity to smash the Piranha right in its ugly mug with a minibomb. As he ran onto the bridge, Delta tried to fire off a buster shot against the enemy Shrimpy, but had no luck locating it beneath the water. The Shrimpy emerged, discharging a blast of bubbles towards Delta. It missed, but Delta realized he had another problem to worry about still: keeping his footing on the wet bridge was going to be difficult! If he could find a way to stabilize himself long enough, he may be able to attack once the Shrimpy revealed itself again.

Delta braced himself on the pathway, then sent a message to Henry, [Only one virus left. Send me both cannons.]

Henry slotted in the two cannon chips, then said, "This is going well."

[Yeah, it is.] Delta loaded the first cannon chip, and as energy built up in the cannon, he waited for the remaining virus to show its head above water again.

As the virus appeared, Delta fired the cannon at it, launching a blast of energy across the water. He quickly loaded the second cannon chip and fired it as well.

Playing the waiting game while struggling to keep his balance, Delta loaded a Cannon and pointed it at where the Shrimpy was-- only to be attacked from the rear (15), threatening to push him into the water! Fortunately, he managed to twist around and deliver the Cannon shots to the Shrimpy before he lost his balance and splashed into the murky water along with the Shrimpy. He was in the virus's home ground now, and it was wounded and probably pissed.

The murky onsen water filled Delta's sight as the Navi struggled under the surface of the pond. Shadowy silhouettes flitted across Delta's field of vision, obscuring his view and robbing him of his accuracy. The Navi thought he saw movement off to his right and fired wildly into the water. The buster shots didn't come near striking the virus hidden within the murk.

Luckily, the warm water was having a soothing effect on Delta's wounds, restoring a small portion of his lost vitality. (+3) Unfortunately, the same was no doubt true for the lurking virus as well. Another movement caused Delta to fire again, buster shots rippling through the water but once again missing the shrimpy.

Bubbles erupted behind Delta and a watery explosion smashed into Delta's back. (-15) The Navi was sent hurdling forward through the water to land against the muddy path that lead into the pond. Delta managed to crawl onto the shore to avoid any more retribution from the hidden virus.

Delta turned around, looking into the water for his target. As he readied his buster, he spotted its silhouette near the shore. He pointed his buster at the shape and fired twice, however the turbulence caused by the shots striking the water caused him to lose track of the virus.

Delta sighed and went back to scanning the pond for signs of his opponent. Meanwhile he steadied himself on the bridge. Suddenly, however, he went into a diving roll along the bridge to avoid an attack!

Delta waited and lined up his shots before firing into the pond. This time the Navi's aim was true and the barrage of buster blasts smashed into the swimming shrimpy just as it emerged from beneath the murky depths. The force of the impact sent the virus floating back through the water for a few feet before it vanished into a fine digital mist. Victory!

Rewards: 350z
Delta picked up the reward without looking at it, then began walking across the bridge, holding his arms out to keep his balance.

Henry looked at the reward, then said, "Only zenny. You were doing well up until that last virus though."

Delta sighed, then replied, "I got careless. Oh well. Hopefully we'll get a chip next time."

[Battle 2]
A short walk away from the onsen pool took Delta to a large roaring river, with sandy riverbanks lining its edges and a magnificent bridge closing the gap between the two banks, raised high above the flowing river. However, a look around revealed that the place's idyllic setting was spoiled by the presence of viruses; a Lark had commandeered the bridge, some Starfish were loafing around in the river, and there was something else on the other side of the bridge that Delta couldn't quite place.

Delta heard the river before he saw it, and as he approached he saw the lark on the bridge. Looking around, he saw the other three viri. He sent a message to Henry, saying, [Four viri. A bird, two starfish, and something else.]

Henry looked at the scene through the PET's camera, then pulled out a chip. "Right," he said, "Focus on the lark first. The rageclaw should take it down quickly."

Delta nodded and loaded the rageclaw with his left hand, manifesting claws attached to the glove's finger's and thumb. With a yell, he charged forward and slashed twice at the lark, from right to left and then bringing his hand upward slightly before the next blow to slice diagonally at his enemy. Although he was fished attacking, Delta stayed near the lark to press his advantage.

((Heya! If you have any questions about what some of the viruses look like, we have icons for most of them in the information database.))

Delta took the initiative and charged the fish-like virus that stood in his way. And it is a good thing that he did because his charge allowed him to rush ahead of the trio of bubbles launched through the air by one of the lounging Starfish. The Navi attacked, razor sharp claws raking the fish virus not once, but twice. The Lark reeled back in pain and fired off a counter of its own. Unfortunately, Delta was far too close to dodge and a wave of water smashed into the Navi.

Seeing the battle ensue, the Misty began its slow advance toward the bridge. It wasn't close enough to attack Delta yet, but it only needed to move forward a few more feet. Meanwhile, the second Starfish launched a wave of bubbles that floated just above its lazy form, providing a weak, but effective barrier.

Delta recoiled from the lark's attack, but quickly recovered and grabbed it with both hands. He then lifted the virus above his head, and looked around. Seeing that one of the starfish was unguarded, he hurled the lark towards it. There was a splash, but Delta was already looking towards the cloud of mist. He then said, [Send me a zapring, please,] to his operator.

Henry slotted in the chip, then said, "You've got it. The starfish probably isn't finished yet though."

Delta responded, [Yeah, but I'll deal with that later.] He then formed his left hand into his buster and loaded the chip, causing his buster to crackle with electricity. He took aim for the mist, and fired a small ring of energy, with expanded as it flew towards the unlucky target. As he finished firing, Delta stepped backwards to avoid an attack.

((Hey there! One quick thing, technically that throw there is a godmod, since the BattleMod has final say as to whether or not you are able to pick up the virus and throw it, along with whether said throw hits anything. Now, I know it is difficult to RP a throw effectively when you are limited to making sure you don't godmod. Keep in mind that saying things like "Delta attempted to latch his claws into the virus and lift him" as opposed to "Delta latched his claws into the virus' slick form and hurled him through the air" is perfectly acceptable. When in doubt, make sure your Navi is attempting instead of doing.))

Delta used his clawed gloves to latch onto the Lark's slippery, scaled body and lifted it into the air. Unfortunately, the fish-like virus opened wide its gaping mouth and bit down on Delta's forearm with agonizing force (15). The Navi shook his arm with all the enhanced strength he had left from the RageClaw battlechip and flung the virus into its comrade. The wounded Starfish responded with a second spray of bubbles that Delta narrowly avoided with a quick dodge.

Delta charged the Zapring, the golden loop humming with electricity, and hurling it toward the oncoming Misty. The virus accepted the hit, the electrical surge coursing through the water droplets that comprised the majority of its body. However, accepting the hit allowed the virus to advance on Delta and its boiling steam enveloped the Navi's outstretched arm (30).

The other Starfish spit out a second screen of bubbles as the first three popped. This rose up to cover both of the viruses sitting in the sea.

Henry took a worried glance at the PET's status monitor, then said, "Delta, get out of there. You're not going to survive too much longer."

Delta sighed, then said, "Fine." Whirling on one foot, he took off running away from the virii, zigzagging in an attempt of escape.

Summary:
ALL ACTIONS TO ESCAPING
Attempting to escape proved to be quite difficult for Delta, as the Misty did not leave him any room for escape. Engulfing his body with its searingly hot vapors, it brought his health to a critical one HP. The wounded Starfish kept on its assault, one of which damaged his systems enough to trigger the Emergency Jack Out system, ejecting the Navi from the network.
