The Karate Kid, Part III

[Follow Swordies!]

As far as Musou was concerned, any kind of negotiation was a huge step in the right direction, so with hope in his eyes (and some surprise), he follows the Swordys. Not in perfect silence or anything though, as he comments to the leader "It's always nice to meet a great leader".

It's not that he's trying to butter them up or anything, he is just giving credit where it's due. It seemed most of the time viruses were just disconnected groups fighting wildly or with the loosest teamwork but here, this was discipline!

Not wanting to spook them, or find out if they don't like operators or something, Kenji silently watches things unfold. Though Musou was hoping for the best, and the boy got the idea that the Swordy was sizing up Musou, 'reading' him, he was still ready to pass a fast battlechip if needed..

Musou wasn't exactly expecting a rousing conversation from the swordys, so assuming nothing happens, he weathers the akward silence and lets them take him where ever they wanted.
The group of Swordies traveled deep into ACDC NET with Musou until they came upon another inhabited area. A large steel fortress dominated a flat plain. Smoke billowed from huge smokestacks and around the massive doors of the entrance was gathered at least two dozen Metools. Four turrets and a tank sat at the entrance, scanning the area. They looked a lot stronger than the average version of those viruses.

Looking down upon this force from their hilltop, the force of Swordies turned towards Musou. The leader unsheathed its sword and began drawing in the dirt. The plan was as follows: the Swordies would engage the main force of Metools while Musou would take the guardians at the entrance.

The lead Swordy gave Musou a thumbs up before all the Swordies vanished simultaneously. Quickly the sounds of combat reached Musou's ears as he rushed down the hill. The Swordies were among the Metools, fighting in formation. In two groups of three, they had split the Metool force down the middle, opening a path for him like the Red Sea.

Rushing the entrance Musou found that the enemies looked a lot more dangerous up close. The four turrets, each resting on solid stone pillars around the entrance, trained their aiming beams towards Musou as he approached. And the large Kabutank drifted forward menacingly. To make matters worse, two Metools broke off from the fight with the Swordies and flanked the Navi on either side.

This would be one of Musou's most deadliest challenges yet.

~Battle 6: Start!!~
Musou nods in understanding to the plan the Swordys give him, adding "You can count on me" He moved to give the Swordy a thumbs-up in return but they had already vanished, and by the sound of it he had better get moving. He quickly ran through the army and made his way to the fort's defenses, leaping and flipping nimbly when he got a little too close to the action. Finally at the front gate, he looked around and swallowed in apprehension. What had he gotten himself into?

Kenji noticed his navi hesitate and quickly passed him a series of battlechips as he said "Musou, don't hesitate. Time for that's over. Get up on top of one of those pillars-" In goes one chip "And drop this up there, where it should be safe-" In goes another chip "And get to another one with this-" In goes the final chip. Musou nodded, understanding the idea even as the first chip was going in.

While the data was processing, the martial artist navi clenches his fists and prepared for action. Fast and decisive action had turned almost every fight he had been in into more or less a breeze so far so his operator was right, he figured. Why slow down now? He would catch them off guard, yeah that's it!

The navi raised his arms as green energy poured from his shoulders. As his arms came down, so did the energy, folding and forming into a pair of green wings. The navi tucked his fists in by his waist and looked up at the first pillar, or more specifically, the cannon atop it. If he wasn't able to finish the thing off in a single hit, this would get... Complicated.

And he was off, a strong flap of the wings leaving only a ripple of energy and faint wisps trailing off, almost resembling shed feathers from a bird's wings. He was a green blur, a cutting line that dashed not just across the battlefield, but above it as well. He couldn't afford to miss this strike and he knew it. His sixth-sense locked on to the cannon in mid-flight as he drew nearer, hopefully ensuring an accurate strike.

Arriving at the top of the first pillar, which was now hopefully missing a resident turret, he hovered in the air as his wings gradually began to loose focus and form but for the moment held him aloft. Chip data ran from his mind and through his body, out to an extended palm and atop the pillar. He wouldn't be sticking around to make sure everything formed alright, because he was pretty much standing (hovering, at least) where he wanted it to be, in the way.

As the final chip loaded, the navi tore off through the sky again, directly to the top of another pillar. A second set of wings had come into being above the first, now-wispy pair, and both flapped as he spun in a corkscrew. He held his fists out in front of him as he shouted a loud "Yaaaaaahhhh" as he dashed again.

The navi flew, his four wings beat as one
Like a bird he soared, a falcon in dive
The fighter slew, no chance for foes to run
Like a beast he roared, he had to survive
The guru knew, what would have to be done
Like a knight he'd ward, and always he'd strive

Or something to that effect anyway. If all went well, he would now be perched atop a second, now-cannonless tower. The first cannon would be gone too and a twirling and swirling staff would be back on the first pillar, raining fire at his foes.

Musou swept up one of the pillars in a green dash, but missed the CannonDumb EX that was sitting on the pillar. The Kabutank EX swiveled its cannon as it tracked the Navi and launched a pair of bombs. Thankfully the movement of the green dash caused what would hit the Navi to miss. One of the twin explosions damaged the CannonDumb EX.

The Navi takes a moment to place a floating magical staff above the CannonDumb EX. The Metools lobbed their pickaxes at the Navi as he did that, striking once for minimal damage. Musou then kicked off the turret and leapt across towards the next one.

The Meteor9 staff began raining meteors... CannonDumb EXA and MetoolA got struck. The last meteor missed as it passed by the third pillar of CannonDumb EXC.

Another blur of green and Musou landed on the second pillar. CannonDumb EXB was deleted by the blur, leaving the pillar empty, sans Navi. The remaining turrets trained laser-guidance markers on the Navi. He had been moving so much they needed the help to pin him down.

Musou sits atop the second pillar for a moment, gauging the effectiveness of his daring (read: reckless) maneuvering. Not only did he get struck, but he couldn't help but notice he was being targeted by some kind of aiming devices.. Well, best not to stand still too long. He surveys things again from his new vantage point.. Yeah, hiding behind stuff while a Kabutank is around equals being blown up so that was going to be first.

Clenching his fists, the navi steels himself against oncoming attacks, drawing in ambient data and energy to form a barrier protecting him from the front. Almost immediately, the navi vanishes, trying to move move move in this fight, especially when he is being targeted. He reappears behind the Kabutank, or to be more specific, the goal is to place the tank between himself and the turrets atop the pillars. The swift boot aimed at the thing as he reappears is more or less to get it's attention and to start softening it up.

Upon landing the martial arts navi pauses once again, this time attuning himself deeply to the data in the area, feeling out all his foes.. His allies fighting elsewhere.. The fortress before him.. Their energy, their chi, their data flow, it all runs through his mind and body. After the series of signature abilities flying from him, the navi's systems are a' blazin! Hopefully it will make a difference?

Musou channels his digital Ki, steeling himself for the battle to come, and then he "Flash Kicks" the KabutankEX.

The KabutankEX takes the blow and then quickly scoots away from Musou. The CannonDumbEXs, their cannons quickly following the teleporting Navi, fire as the KabutankEX moves away. Three of the four hit Musou, but the Navi blocks them all, causing no damage. The KabutankEX then takes two shots at Musou, but both bombs go wide and Musou in unharmed.

At this point the magical Meteor9 staff glows a bright orange and red and rains meteors down upon the battlefield. Only one manages to hit anything, the already damaged CannonDumb EXA.

Musou then taps into the data around him. Getting ready to heal his wounds if an enemy should fall. It is then that the Metools attack the Navi with shockwaves through the ground. One of the shockwaves is accurate enough to actually hit Musou, and he loses what was left of his shield.

Seeing blast after blast and shock waves crossing over his navi, Kenji bites his lip and looks through his chips.. Musou was hurt but it was too soon for the recover, as the guns would just blast him apart again. They had already used up pretty much their best chips and barely put a dent in their numbers..

Musou too, gritting his teeth and wincing as his shield shook and flickered out of existence. The navi narrows his eyes after the volley passes "Yeah, this is bad" His best defense was gone in an instant and his favorite battle chips (the dash attacks) were already gone.

Both navi and operator suddenly realized, there was that. They had had it for awhile now but never made use of it, maybe now was the time? But no, not with the cannons locked on to him, it might be pointless. Those guns had to go.

"Sensei, give me the one that blows up when it hits things", the navi said as he clenched his fists to build up energy. Golden chi crackled around his body like electricity as it began to gather in his fists. Meanwhile, Kenji blinked and glanced over the chips they had.. Blew up when it hit stuff? That could be one of a couple things but he assumed his navi meant the Pulsar. Hopefully he did, anyway.

One chip insertion later, Musou raised one of his clenched fists over his head and opened his palm flat. Resisting the urge to yell anything about disks and/or destructo, the navi forms a ring of energy, then another flying wildly around the first, then a volatile charge within the whole deal like some kind of gyroscope. Putting a good half of his charged energy into the move, along with a bit of extra oomph, the martial artist sends the pulsar flying, golden energy crackling and trailing around it as it flew through the air and promised explosive deletion.

All that being done, the navi was not about to just let the Kabutank stroll away and blast merrily, so he took a few steps forward to keep using it for cover. He was pretty much in the thing's face, so if it wanted to blast him it was going to blast it's self too. It's not like he was standing still though, he was still expecting to have to avoid shots of some kind. Meanwhile, the tank would hopefully provide cover against the other viruses.

Musou powered up and launched a strengthened Pulsar into PillarC. The blast consumed PillarC and its CannonDumb EXC, as well as Pillars B and D, but the blast did not touch CannonDumb EXD... nor did it have the reach to touch PillarA and its CannonDumb EXA. With the deletion of a virus, Musou healed a little.

The Meteor9 staff launched its third and final assault before breaking apart into junk data and disappeared. One of the three meteors hit, miraculously striking the CannonDumb EXA for a third time in a row, and deleting the virus.

Well, the viruses were not going to take all this lying down and began raining attacks on Musou as he tried to use the KabutankEX as cover. Unfortunately, the KabutankEX was faster than Musou and could boost away, to get away from the Navi before launching its attack. The last remaining CannonDumbEX manages to peg Musou with the help of its marked aiming, causing more damage than the Navi healed previously. It was no wonder that the Swordies needed his help to attack this fortress, it was packing heat.

The KabutankEX lobbed a pair of bombs at Musou, missing once, but hitting Musou with the tail end of the second blast. And lastly, the Metools struck the ground with their pickaxes, launching shockwaves that both miss.

Musou staggers back from the blows and grows under his breath. This was starting to piss him off. Not only was he half way to deletion but this appeared to be just the first of many such encounters ahead of him. The navi glared at the Kabutank and clenched his fists "I'm going to tear you to-", he started but Kenji cut him off "Musou, control yourself. If you let them take your calm then you are helping to defeat yourself. Calm down, keep fighting" One of Musou's eyes twitched as he opened and closed his fists, trying to manage stress levels. His operator was right, really, he had to keep his calm. How many times had he mocked an opponent to make them loose their cool? He just had to take out the last cannon. that thing hurt way too much to be left alone any longer. The Kabutank could wait.

Focusing his senses, the martial arts navi once again began tapping into the data and energy of the surrounding area.. Feel his opponents, the ground, the pillars, himself, the Swordys fighting near by. Calm and focus..

Following his brief meditation, the navi springs into action. He dashes quickly, strong legs carrying him across and to the pillar the Cannon is sitting atop. As he moves a battle chip brings out a Chinese kung-fu sword, and the fighter swings the jian to a position behind him. The last of his built up energy courses through the blade, promising a swift end to whatever is struck. Again, the karateka refuses to twirl and swing the tai chi blade with grace and skill, with it's pretty little tasseled end. No, this one is going to be all about brute force. It's not how it's meant to be wielded, but he's no sword-type navi either.

He springs up as he arrives at the pillar, just high enough to deliver what he hopes is a finishing blow to the cannon. Not elegant and descriptive, but neither is the slash. It's a brutal and violent blow swung by a melee would would prefer to be punching and kicking things, though he can't deny the effectiveness of the battle chip. Though for good measure, he does extend his attuned senses to focus his blow upon the virus, hopefully to greater effect.

Musou taps himself into the data that flows through all "living" things. Then springs forth and runs up one of the pillars toward the last remaining CannonDumbEX. He rushes over the lip and delivers an empowered strike to the CannonDumbEX, slicing cleanly through it with his sword, deleting it. Musou then absorbs some of the data of his victim, regaining some of his vitality.

It is then that the other three viruses attack. The two Metools lob their pickaxes at Musou, striking both times for minor damage. The KabutankEX moves to get a better angle on Musou, now that he is atop a pillar, and lobs twin bombs out of its cannon. Only one explodes close enough to hit Musou, depleting his vitality even further, while completely missing the pillar he stood upon.

Musou crosses his arms in front of him, one a fist and the other his jian and he flinches as he takes several blows after finishing the cannon off. The navi is trying hard to keep his cool but lately his write protection has been dwindling fast and nothing he is doing is improving that. Plus, despite the cannons being dead, he is still 'marked', which throws his earlier idea out the window. Best to protect himself..

He clenches his fists, tightening the grip around is sword in the process as he gathers ambient data from the area to form a protective shield in front of himself. Additionally, Kenji slides him their shield chip and the navi holds his empty hand out, a protective shell forming in front of him, to reinforce his existing defenses.

Defenses formed, the navi wasn't about to leave himself a sitting duck and he hopped down off the pillar and made his way back over to the Kabutank. He doesn't intend to make a swing at this time so he focuses on making his way safely.

All of a sudden, the mark that highlighted Musou disappeared. Musou took up a greatly defensive position, summoning shielding data around him while moving to keep the KabutankEX next to him. The Navi strode great distances quickly, matching speed to that of the KabutankEX, who could not get away.

The KabutankEX's shortened and a new type of bomb was loaded into its barrel. Only one shot out at Musou, but missed. As it exploded harmlessly off to the side, Musou could see the explosion radius of this bomb was half as great as the dual bombs it fired before.

Then the Metools struck the ground and made shockwaves. One managed a hit, and struck the Guard1 shield. The blast reflected back and struck both Metools, deleting one.

Finally fortified, the navi (and his operator) decide it's probably for the best that he spends a moment catching his breath. Running into a battle head on following this would be terrible if he didn't do everything he could to recover first. To that end, the navi spins the jian around, to expose his knuckles, and energy begins to build. It almost crackles like a golden electricity as it rises to the surface and Musou delivers a strait punch in the direction of the Kabutank. Either way, the built up energy leaps and flies from his hand, around the jian and onto the ground in a thematically impressive display of light and sound.

Not that he expects that to take care of his problem, but that would be nice for a change, right? At any rate, the navi resets his stance and focuses his energies again. He attunes himself once again to the area, the viruses, the castle.. He is curious as to how the swordies are doing against the metool army as well, but he has to keep his mind on the here and now.

A tense Kenji mutteres through the microphone of his PET and his nearby PC, giving Musou a nice 3D effect (alternatively an annoying echo) "Careful Musou, unless something huge happens, the fight is yours to loose now" He slides in the recovery chip they had been holding on to until the number of foes had diminished. Hopefully it would help.

Not wasting any time, Musou ran the chip through his systems, light and golden energy leaping around his body in spots as his write protection is somewhat restored. The navi nods to his operators comment though he really wants to say something back like 'it always was', but he had taken some big hits this fight and he had learned to always prepare for the worst. He had only ever been in ADCD but he had already seen so much.. Enough, in fact, to color and shape his beliefs in a way different from most navis.

The viruses were not going to just stand around and wait. They launched their own attacks. Now that the KabutankEX was farther away from the Navi, it could relaunch its pair of bombs. The Metool also whacked the ground with its pickaxe, sending forth a shockwave. Surprisingly, the immobile Navi was missed by all three attacks.

I finally sit still and you cant hit me?" Despite his frustration, the navi isn't going to wait about for a response nor complain too loudly about his good luck any further.

He turns his glare to the Kabutank, as he has had quit enough of that annoying bomb-blasting-and-fleeing stuff kiting him about. He decides it's in his best interest to take it out once and for all. To that end the martial arts navi raises his jian and darts at the virus, quickly closing distance with it and taking aim with a quick series of sword slashes.

To a trained eye he is, once again, swinging the blade with far more brute force than finesse, as the jian is meant to be wielded. Of course, their is always something to be said of brute force. Adding to the overall effect, the navi yells as he swings rapidly "Orra orrraa!", and at some point an additional charge of golden energy dances along the blade, lending penetrating power as it leaps about the area like electricity before dissipating into the ground.

~Battle 6: Victory!!~

Does Musou follow the Swordies deeper into the fortress? Y/N
((After a long hiatus, I've kind of forgotten what all is going on. I don't know how many more battles till my SP is back and since I don't see a seeker bomb on my chip list I'm gonna assume I didn't accept the last fights rewards yet. Sorry, bear with me a little?))

Yes!

The navi breathes a deep sigh as the battle ends abruptly and returns the thumbs up with a grin.. Until he realizes that things have only just begun. He had just taken out the outer turrets while the Swordys held off the army, for the most part. It was a fortress and who knows what was inside? Sounded like adventure!
Busting through the front gate the strike team had entered what looked like the ground floor of a large arms manufacturing facility. Conveyor belts rumbled along at a brisk pace, carting partially completed machinery. It was clear that the pieces were parts of Kabu- and Beetanks. The Swordies fanned out in small groups to engage the nearby Metool workers. Several of the completed tanks turned on and began moving to assist the workers in repelling the assault. Musou was beset by a large group of those tanks.

~Battle 7: Start!!~
Musou rushes into the weapons factory, along with the Swords , taking a moment to adjust his senses to the new sights, sounds and smells. An.. Arms factory? With Metool workers? For all those people out there that said viruses were just mindless beasts they needed to see this stuff. But would it wind up being yet another highly-sensitive piece of info the Net Police would ask him not to release?

"S-Sensei, are you getting this? What the heck's going on?", the navi asks to no one in particular. A voice seemingly coming from over his shoulder replies, however "Yeah, I'm taking some screenshots.. I'm not sure how safe people would feel if they knew that right here in our little net something like this is going on.."

The navi gritted his teeth and clenched his fists as he saw the Swordsy begin to engage, things were heating up fast. "I mean, they are obviously making weapons here but.. Why? To what end? Is it related to the factory we broke up before? A-and, what is these guys' part in all this?" The navi looks over to the Swordys, wondering their intentions. He had rather blindly agreed to help them, seeking allies and now.. Well he would have to consider the ramifications later, more of those 'blasted' tanks were coming his way.

From his navi's viewpoint, Kenji takes a few screenshots, noting the Metools at work, the tanks being built, and the battle between the workers and the Swordys about to begins. He shook his head as he saw tanks break off and head towards Musou. "Seems the longer we stick around ACDC, the more we find is going on behind the scenes, Musou. I wonder how many locals have just spent a few minutes around here and moved on.. They would have no idea. I'm starting to think your whole battle career could be in this place.." The boy moves to slide in his navi's favorite battle chips without even asking.

The martial arts navi frowned as he sized up the tanks.. He was going to have to keep on his feet or he would be blown to pieces. And not just nimble dodging either, it was time to fly across the battlefield. Chip data entered his mind as he began to give thought to the idea that the fight to free ACDC from corruption and make it safe was an impossible one, a never ending war with no end. But that was why he needed to gather allies and train a militia. If the net could defend it's self then peace could be had. Even here, Swordys were trying to take down a tank factory. He didn't need to know why, it was good enough that it was happening.

Green energy sprouted from the navi's back as wings began to form from ambient data. He took only a moment to attune himself to his foes and the battlefield, tracking their movements and energy with his mind's eye. Musou lunged forwards suddenly as the scattered energy on his back solidified. Metalic green wings reflected the room's lights about wildly as they moved. His speed increased as his feet left the ground and the navi seemed to only become a green flash of light, aimed at a group of the tanks!

But he had fought these viruses often enough to know that this alone wouldn't cut it, and more importantly than damaging all of his foes was reducing their numbers, and thus the number of bombs and blasts incoming towards him, right now. Apparently his operator had been thinking the same thing as additional chip data flooded his mind.

The navi held a hand behind him as he began to slow and regain his form. Energy built within him as he approached a wall and did a front-flip in mid air, bringing his feet towards the wall and using what was left of his forward momentum to press himself against it, almost crouching sideways. More energy built in him, passing to his left hand as his right hand reached out and the melee type literally grabbed the wall, crushing material and leaving gouges the shapes of his fingers to get a grip.

Musou raised his face towards the group of tanks he had charged and extended his left hand as his powerful shoulder muscles tensed and the fingers of his right hand locked into place. Energy began to fly wildly at the tanks, blast after blast, blowing up random debris where they missed, as the navi slid down the wall and touched down to the floor.

1 - Activate Sig "Absorb Data": [Opponent(Deleted): 30 Healing; 1 TCD]

Passive Sig Attunement: [Take Aim (1x per turn)] @ Kabutank EX-A, to line up multiple tanks if possible, or at least to improve accuracy.
2 - Use Battlechip DashAttack1 (90+Impact+LineAttack5)+Bash @ Kabutank EX-A

3 - Use Battlechip MachineGun1 (30 x 9 Shots + Spray Fire) @ Kabutank EX-A

[Attunement: USED (Action2)]
[Bash: USED (Action2)]
[Battlechips Used: DashAttack1, MachineGun1]
[Sig Absorb Data cooldown: 1]
[Note: Bash adds Impact to an attack. DashAttack already has Impact. Also any Melee attacks get an extra accuracy rank since Musou is Melee Subtype. Accuracy with Melee type attacks can surpass A rank (which is A+, A++, A+++, etc. Think of every accuracy rank and "+" added to A rank as +10% more than the previous rank.]

Musou attuned himself to the battle ahead and took off on the green wings of freedom. The three Kabutanks see the attack coming with their enhanced intelligence over the basic Beetank, and activate tiny maneuvering thrusters on their bodies. The DashAttack was too quick for the leader of the group to dodge, but the other two manage to move away as Musou blasts through the eastern group. The heavily damaged Kabutank turned its gun upon Musou as the Navi released a hail of blasts from his palm. The Kabutank eats an astonishing seven out of nine blasts, shredding the advanced tank. Musou absorbs the data energy from the fallen virus and heals (+30). Also, one of the two scattered shots manages to graze one of the two remaining Kabutanks.

Then all the tanks move into range of the Navi and fire. The Kabutanks fire a pair of bombs each while the Beetanks fire a single bomb. Due to the movement of Musou, only one of the four Kabutank bombs (-15) and one of the three Beetank bombs (-30) strike him.
