Alright, the rabbit is done for, the cannon went boom... and the other cannons all fired on you... only for your net to come up and repel all of them back, killing them all.

As the array of Cannons opened fire on Tennisman's net, Desmond called out, "Fault! Double fault! Triple fault!"

Tennisman simply watched as they obliterated themselves and seemed satisfied with the results, but lingering thoughts of his sudden energy boosts during the battle still bothered him.

"Match point and that's game," Desmond added, "Good job Tennisman."

Tennisman nodded and performed a routine inspection of the reward data. Among the zenny was new battle chip data he had never seen before.

"Zapring." He said.

Desmond made a contemplative hum, "Well, we'll test it out soon enough."

Tennisman nodded again as he walked away from the battlefield, brushing off the residue from the Cannon's blast off his chest.

"Ohhhhhhhh..." Desmond groaned, "Sucks to be you."

Tennisman didn't falter at the sight of the viruses, but he did wonder if he could actually defeat all of them with the limited number of chips he had in his possession. The most pressing matter was the threat posed by the four Spikeys. He could barely bring down three of them and these ones were accompanied by a sizeable group of Spookies and Seedbats. He could tell it was going to be a long battle.

His operator sounded impatient, "So, what should we do?"

"The more we take out in the first attack, the fewer there will be to retalliate."

"Umm, one thing I should probably tell you..." Desmond trailed off, "Spookys can heal other viruses."

Tennisman expression fell. His top priority had suddenly changed to eradicating the Spookies. He had originally intended on attacking the small swarm of Seedbats with Heatshots but that would have to wait until later.

"Shotgun and Cannon." Tennisman said as he silently moved to a more favourable position to fire.

The first chip began to load and change Tennisman's arm into a sleek blue Shotgun, at the same time, setting off all the viruses. The battle had already begun. The first round of the gun was quickly fired off at the first pair of Spookies without hesitation. The Shotgun faded away to give rise to the Cannon chip. Tennisman did not bother to check his weapon before he fired or he would have noticed that it had once again flashed blue without his consent. Whether he liked it or not, this unidentified energy would be used.

He looked at the Cannon as it retracted; remnants of the energy boost blinked away in tiny motes, disappearing into nothingness. He needed a moment to consider his situation and swiped his racquet across the field, calling out, "Netplay."

The barrier cut off the viral group from direct contact with him as he continued to simply stare at his hand blankly. His sombre expression gave away his deep contemplation over what to do. Should he simply embrace it and make his way to victory and maintain his conservative views until he truly understood what was going on? He had to decide soon.

Alright, so the spookys died, and in responce to that the Spikeys started to fan out, and the bats flew higher. At a certent hight, two of them threw their wings at tennisman, the shots going over the net and one of them hitting tennis in the left leg.

Being struck in the leg snapped Tennisman out of his trance and gave him the answer he was looking for.

"Desmond," Tennisman asked, "Are there any problems with the PET?"

"Uhh... Doesn't look like it. Everything's running normally." His operator replied.

There was one other matter Tennisman was curious about, "Is my maximum health reading normal?"

"190. Yeah. What's up?" Desmond said.

"I was confirming something." Tennisman stated, "Two heatshots and Minibomb."

His arm warped into the familiar Heatshot launcher, ready for action at a moment's notice. Tennisman took aim at the Seedbats, fluttering about on their leafy wings. He considered that he might not have been hit if he dealt with them first but hindsight was always 20/20 and he might have been ambushed by the Spookys instead. Being hit was an inevitability of fighting all the time but he never wanted to get used to that feeling. The pain didn't come from taking the attack, but in the knowledge that he wasn't good enough to evade it.

Two fiery bursts were unloaded into the trio of bat virii. Tennisman hoped for a quick deletion of the aerial threat before they could launch another attack. Meanwhile, he was taking notice of the Spikeys and their movement pattern. He wondered if they were trying to circle him and render his Netplay useless. He had herd them back together. He wished that he still had Doubles Match to deal with this but he would have to do it alone.

Tennisman tossed a Minibomb at the lead Spikey on his left while simultaneously making a dash to the right. He intended on engaging the left Spikey and to surprise it. Perhaps it would be provoked into attacking the net in his charging feint but more importantly, he wanted them to stop spreading out.

Tennisman stopped his feint after noticing that the Spikeys had suddenly become unresponsive. Even the one struck by the Minibomb looked dumbfounded. Tennisman wasn't sure what to make of the phenomenon but if he could take advantage of the situation, he would.

He tossed up a ball and served it at the first Spikey while calling to Desmond with his next chip request, "Energybomb."

"What's with the Spikeys?" Desmond asked.

Tennisman didn't reply but continued to serve his second and ball at the next Spikey in line. With his third ball, he could feel that unidentified energy building again in the palm of his hand. He didn't question it this time or stop to think about it. The ball glowed and was struck just like the others, aimed at the third Spikey. There was a feeling of considerable resonance from the last serve that he could feel from the racquet. He followed up his Ace Serve by whistling to call his Ballboy for back-up and chucked the Energybomb. It arced over the net and descended onto the Spikey he was facing. Netplay was still strong and holding but was useless and a even a hinderance if the Spikeys didn't attack.

Tennisman sighed wishing for a counter-attack.

One deleted, one annoyed with a ball smacking its face, one REALLY annoyed with a higher power ball smacking its face, and the last deleted in a brilliant flash of light. The two irritated Spikeys attack Tennisman, only to recieve the full force of their attacks as they bounce off of his Netplay.

Tennisman brushed his forehead and then proceeded to stretch out his arms and turn his neck and torso. After taking the moment to briefly recuperate, he readied himself to finish off the remaining viruses.

"Cannons." ordered Tennisman.

The plain-looking, green cannon appeared on his arm. He cocked it and felt the first round in the barrel with the second round resting peacefully in the chamber beneath it. Despite the extra ammunition, the weapon felt light.

Placing one hand on top of his net, he leapt over the entire height of it in a single bound and took aim at the Spikeys while in mid-air. He had fired his first shot before he landed on the other side. The second cannon round loaded itself into the barrel without delay, allowing for another successive blast at the last Spikey. A smokey fume wafted from the tip of the gun even as Tennisman lowered it and disengaged the chip. The cannon reformatted itself into the shape of a hand, still giving off a light haze from the freshly fired shots; His open palm descended slowly as if it had finished a handshake.

"Game set." Tennisman said.

"So far that's Tennisman, four, viruses, zero." Desmond triumphantly stated.

Tennisman wasn't impressed with himself at all. This was ACDC Net, supposedly one of the safest places online. He found no reason in boasting that he could surf the net without being deleted. That would be pathetic.

"Something on your mind?" Desmond asked, "You're spacing out there."

Tennisman shook his head and apologized, "Sorry, I can continue."

"Aight, aight..." Desmond complied.

Tennisman started walking away wondering how much longer he would have to endure the feeling of the world patronizing him.

As Tennisman continues, he sees signs of a recent virus deletion nearby. Quite a large one, too, by the looks of it. But even as he watches, the destroyed data begins to flow back towards what appears to be the destroyed bottoms of several Canodumbs, and creates once more... THE CANODUMB WALL!
Held on the bases of 16 canodumbs in two rows, this massive green wall is roughly 8 feet in height, and has many canodumb barrels protruding from every side. As Tennisman prepares for battle, the enemy (Enemies? :huh:) fire several shots at him, which he nimbly dodges.

Canodumb Wall: 320 HP

Tennisman: 150 HP

"This is... New." said Desmond in a slow, awkward tone.

Tennisman didn't know what to think or say but some sudden cannonfire forced him to quicken his response time. It was clearly viral in nature and related to the Canodumb family but it was unlike anything he had seen before. In any case, it was a danger to the other people on the net and he felt it was his responsibility to delete it before the situation got any worse. The one good aspect of this hulk of a virus was that it was indeed hulking and an easy target for even his most unreliable of chips.

Before Tennisman could ask for a chip, the virus launched another salvo of blasts that required him to put up some defences before he could pull off a decent offence. He rolled and slammed his hand onto the ground in a crouch, calling out, "Netplay!"

There was no need to be subtle. He doubted his enemy could deduce what it was doing let alone what he was planning. But still, its seemingly random attacks could pose a threat if it got off a lucky shot. Something Tennisman wasn't willing to take a risk on.

In a pleasant surprise, Tennisman found himself in possession of the Energybomb chip that he was considering using. He looked up to hear the voice of his operator, "Yeah, I know. Hurry up."

Replying with a nod, Tennisman huddled close against his net and hurled the bomb over the top. The feeling reminded him of fighting with trench warfare tactics although he had never experienced it firsthand - This was very likely as close as he was going to get. He could hear the sound of cannonfire firing away in every direction. He thought he picked up on a particular pattern but wasn't sure. Still a hunch was better than nothing.

"What are you waiting for?" Desmond growled, "DO something!"

Tennisman continued to lay low, under the limited protection of his Netplay while listening intently on his opponent. After a seemingly familiar burst of 3 simultaneous shots, Tennisman straighened up and dashed away from his hiding spot. He could feel numerous invisible crosshairs tracking him as he strafed from point to point and unloaded the clip of tennis balls from his cannon onto the ground. They fell out, bouncing away as they landed but it was enough for Tennisman to make note of each one and dive at them with vicious lunges.

He dove after the ball closest to him and smashed it away, over the net and into the wall of open turrets. Perhaps one of them would become clogged and backfire and delete the entire wall. He wasn't that lucky. The second and third balls continued to bounce further and further away from each other and closer to the ground. The second ball was harder to reach and strike but it too was successfully served towards the viral mass. The third ball had completely stopped bouncing by then and was simply rolling away steadily.

"As hype as your moves are, your Ace Serve could use some work." commented smugly.

Tennisman bolted after the runaway sphere while practically crushing the life out of his racquet. A blue haze from his solid grip poured up the shaft and engulfed the entire racquet. Empowered with his miraculous energy, Tennisman struck the ball with the edge of his racquet's face, causing it to bounce back up. Tennisman spun around and delivered a devastating backhand that propelled the ball like a bolt of lightning towards the Canodumb wall.

Desmond made an impressed whistle and said, "Ok, I'll admit that last one was pretty nice."

Tennisman again had no comment, having worn himself out chasing balls. He hoped that the Netplay would hold out longer than what was left of his opponent.

Tennisman's Energybomb, and Ace serves, all hit the enemy and plug up four of the Canodumb cannons protruding from it. All four projectiles cause the holes to explode, but the HP only goes down by a small amount for each hole! (40)(40)(40)(40)
The remaining four holes fire shots at Tennisman, but one destroys itself as the shot reflects (40), and the others miss!

Canodumb Wall: 120 HP

Tennisman: 150 HP <60 HP Netplay>
Tennisman looked in disbelief as the monstrosity was still mostly intact even after his strongest attacks. He noted how although it functioned as a whole, it still seemed to be an amalgamation of separate cannonheads simply fused together somehow. He was treating this as a single enemy but in reality, he was up against a small army. In any case, Tennisman thought that he could take care of what was left quickly and move on.

"I don't get it," Desmond said, "This math doesn't add up."

Apparently his operator was still struggling on the problem but rather than explain it to him thoroughly, Tennisman simply said, "Cannons." Realizing a split second after that his request also described his opponent in a single word.

"Alright, whatever you think is good." Desmond replied.

Tennisman's arm cannon transformed under the influence of the first chip slotted in. The second chip materialized an extra shell inside the body of the gun. He waited for a moment and realized that Desmond only slotted in two.

Tennisman called out, "One more."

Desmond sounded reluctant but relented, "Okay..."

Tennisman felt the Cannon on his arm get even heavier than before. As far as he could remember, he had never tried to load three gun chips into his arm at the same time. The unexpected load of the Cannon and two extra rounds weighed down the whole right half of his body, forcing him to hold up the gun with his left hand.

When he noticed that Netplay was still blocking a direct line of fire, he dropped his arm back down and nearly toppled over, stumbling to his right slightly. His operator asked, "Are you okay? You look drunk."

He stabilized himself and replied with a nod and began making his way to the edge of the net. All the while, he stare at the virus taking note of which spots were still vulnerable to attack. He picked out three clear barrels protruding from the wall. He would try to aim for those.

As he reached the edge, he raised his arm up and took aim with his left hand guiding it. Higher. Higher. More to the left. Right a little. Higher. Perfect.

An explosive blast from the first attack caused his arm to recoil up and back, straining his shoulder. He winced in pain but felt more nimble, albeit a bit shaken. One less shell in the gun meant he could fire it with more ease. He took aim again and fired again, this time with less backlash and more control. His arm finally felt normal now and lighter than before. He fired off the third round without a thought, aiming the weapon as if he were simply pointing a finger at the target. The last shot caused the Cannon chip to disengage and revert back to his default hand.

Tennisman rubbed his shoulder. It hurt but at least he was done. In the meantime he wondered if overloading his Cannons to push himself harder was a good idea. Would his programming adapt to the excess weight or was his code so hardwired that he could never change without explicit reprogramming being performed on him. He pondered his thoughts in silence until Desmond snapped at him, "HEY! What are you doing?"

Tennisman nodded and turned to face what was left of the Canodumb wall.

The three cannons fire at Tennisman at the moment he fires! One misses entirely, but the second's shot connects with his! Both blasts dissappear! But fear not, for unbelievable stupidity from enemies shall save the day! The third canodumb fires, only to have its shot reflect off the netplay and delete the second! As the final three holes detonated, the force seemed to unbalance the wall, which tipped over almost comically before smashing into the ground.

The collapse of the large cannon array ushered a rush of air and dust into Tennisman's face. He narrowed his eyes but never lost sight of the virus until it completely disappeared. He wanted to ensure it wouldn't simply reconstitute itself.

"Good job with those Cannons." applauded Desmond.

"The situation would like have been much different were it a mobile virus." Tennisman replied sternly.

Desmond hummed, "Yeah I guess you lucked out. Anyways, what'd we win?"

Tennisman walked to the site of the deletion and retrieved a handful of Zennies and chip data. He looked displeased when he discovered it was a Cannon chip.

His operator laughed, "One more to the pile!"

Tennisman nodded but didn't share Desmond's cheerful attitude. At the very least, he remained uninjured and that seemed to raise his spirits ever so slightly. Perhaps he was improving.
