'Dear Geek Lord' would be an awsome title. Anyway, here I go.

'Dear Geek Lord, I recently discused the upcoming version 4.0 of Dungeons and Dragons, and my group was rather upset, as we had invested a lot of time and money into mastering version 3.5. Do you think we should boycot version 4.0, which apears to be aimed twords those with laptops, in favor of continuing to use our plethora of 3.5 material, or should we get with the times and rapidly upgrade ourselves for the new erra of D&D?'

That's how I felt when 3.5 came out.

And how my DM felt when 3.0 came out.

And how his DM felt when AD&D came out.

It happens.
Meh, I had my uncle's old D&D from like 30 years ago, then I bought alot for like Christmas, played it like two or three times.

Then that would be the Original.
I don't really care what I play, biggest improvements between the two was bards/sorcerers (hooray charisma), and they fixed up the AC so the higher it was the better, unlike the original where a lower one was better.
I remember when I had a -10 AC and I was all cool...Now people have 18's and I'm all like WTF?

Wow, that's impressive. The lowest I ever got it was to a -2, now the system is compleatly flipped and higher numbers are better, though for a good and well thoought out reason. I don't have to consult tables to see if my class at that level hit that armor class with my roll, considering weapon vs type of armor modifiers.

The only thing I mis from the old days is that Assasin is no longer a base class, and you can make a whiny assed palasin with ease. Oh, and monks can't kill with one hit anymore.
I thought at 20 they could. And I remember erading like an excerpt in the back of my uncles mentioning being a bard. You had to be a rogue then a fighter then do crazy stuff THEN you'd be a bard which basically served as best of both worlds. And what I like about the higher the better ACs is that realistically theres a limit to how easy to hit you can be, but technically no limit to how hard you are to hit.

I wasn't crazy about magic shcools. Sure its realistic, but if I want to make a metero summoning transmuting charming godknows what elsing badass mage it's my god given right GODDAMMIT!

What do you guys play as if you had to choose, wizard or sorceror?
Actually, the old stuff didn't even have sorcerer. And you didn't have to worry about magic schools unless you were a specialist, in which case you gained bonuses on saves against your specialty, a special ability to dispell those types of spells, cast them at one level higher for determining effects, and could read scrolls containing those spells automatically. On the downside, you lost access to the oposite school and (unless you chose divination) you also lost access to another school of your choice (excluding divination).

Nowadays, I'd still play a Wizard over a Sorcerer, since I can have a massivly more varried variety of spells, more skill points, bonus feats, and my metamagic wouldn't take a full round to use.

I personally play a cleric.
I know that they didnt have classes and sorcerors, I meant I wasn;t crazy about the change.

I don't remember too well how sorceres work, but I like people were you can improvise your stuff, meaning no preparation. I'd prepare all fire spells and end up fighting lava guys.
Yeah, but now they've made special rods that alow them to cast a certain number of spell levels through them a day to use other spells, so you could use one of those ang get a bunch of ice pells then. F*** that's not right. They are eliminating the disincentive and risk of playing a sorcerer by doing this. It's removing game balance!
Dear Geek Lord,

Can you lose your virginity if you spend your entire life playing D&D?
------
Dear Geek Lord,

When will we wage war with the nerds?
-----
Dear Geek Lord,

We need your final answer... Which is cooler? GaoGaiGar, Shin Getter Robo or Wildwurger?
Just learned somthing INTERESTING abou 4.0 our DM never mentioned. Instead of the DM rolling reflex saves against your wizards fireball, the wizard has to roll to hit Reflex Class, and has to do it for each target, individually.
Dear Geek Lord,

Coke or Pepsi?
Coke > pepsi.

Some of are nerds. My loose definition of a nerd, as far as when I had to create stereotypes for a project, was that nerds are unpopular, and geeks are smart. Obviously this isn't an accurate stereotype, but it served its purpose. And unless you've got Multiple Personality Disorder like me, its hard to wage war against yourself.
Pepsi. It is 60% of the time prefered 100% of the time.
But only 12% of the people prefer it 50% of the time, and of those 60% prefer it 100% of the time.
And I have a hand grenade!
You never saw Anchorman did you?
Cheugh. I have 6. Poser.
I vaguely remember it.
