Goodness! I can't believe it!
Sorry about the inactivity, but to my surprise, my house has burned down while I was on vacation. Now I'm totally blew up. I have to take a break and help pull everything together, because I lost everything in that fire. Sorry guys!
Disaster!

It's called 'Shock'. It's like someone being oddly calm after discovering one of their loved ones has died/been murdered/has a terminal illness.
Either that, or he's going by the 'Things are replaceable, people aren't' philosophy. Hence, while it might suck that his house burned down, his family is okay and thus he's fine.

Either way, it's admirable how he's kept his head.
Until next time, Zane.
Best of luck putting things together again.

...That almost happened to the people living behind us... Because somehow there yard cought on fire, and was spreading... If my mom did not see he smoke when she was letting our cat out... it might have spread to our yard instead of theirs and another yard... Luckly the Fire department got there before it spread to a house. But at least you have your life.
