Lower Element Containment Mysteries [Network Advancement Mission for Jazz]

Though the invader that had used its disorienting attack still seemed to be recovering, its remaining ally confirmed that Jazz had been afflicted, then strafed slightly and prepared to press the attack hard while it had the chance. As it focused on the wavering white navi, however, the other invader stood straight, also trying to shoot their foe; it staggered and brought one hand up to its forehead, focusing abeam, before some kind of static burst crackled around its head and a small scale explosion of psychic force made it reel backwards; the lighting bolt crashed upwards at an angle, before beginning to ricochet around the walls of the chamber in a wild, chaotic series of rebounds. The other Invader was forced to twist aside at the last moment, sending his own beam off to the side of his mark and missing Jazz as well. It muttered something that sounded like a viral curse word.

As this happened, the remaining Ice shard found its aim and lanced downwards, skewering through the unfortunate virus while it was still trying to press its attack on Jazz. The icicle itself dissipated, but lingering frost and ice clung the the creature's body despite its efforts to shake it off.

Not far away, Jazz was doing unsafe things with medical devices, but for now the series of syringes scattered and burst in the air part way across the room, failing to deliver their payload to anything. Still reeling while his operator attempted to code a short term solution, Jazz's haphazard reeling dodges weren't quite unpredictable enough for the injured, but still determined, Invader to ping him with a second lightning bolt. This one scorched through his outer barrier, amplifying itself against the surrounding metal surfaces, but fortunately the hare's first line of defence managed to stop the dangerous strike from penetrating further. The confused one also struck again, at something, though it didn't seem to be Jazz; once again the bolt arced and bounced, rebounding off metal surfaces in an erratic pattern before fizzling out.

Somewhere amidst the electric light show, Jazz retaliated to the bolt that struck him with another scattering of dubious needles. Though the shot itself was fairly wild, one of the syringes did strike against the injured Invader's shoulder. At first, it seemed to shrug it off, but as the contents did their work ,the virus staggered, then stumbled. Then it stood up straight, staring at the ceiling and reaching for its head, before a sudden swelling in its cranium burst into a series of four large, purple-fleshed, ridiculously muscled arms, each of which pounded fists down onto the ground and lifted the Invader bodily up, leaving it dangling from the top of its own skull like a puppet. Its eyes had gone from a calculating bloodshot coldness to a bestial, insentient red as it charged at Jazz , four fists knuckle-pounding across the floor while the small body swung uselessly between them. It lurched as it caught up, reared back and swung once, then again with its two leading arms, though both swings missed Jazz.

The body of the Invader began to shriek and the mutated creature stopped, stumbled, then sagged onto its back fists while the other two lifted up and, with a series of savage shrieks, began pounding on its own brain case. On the third simulations strike, the upper part of the virus burst and exploded into broken code and psychic static that chained across the room. By sheer dumb luck, Jazz had stumbled behind the service desk and the rolling wash of confusion managed to miss him, but the other Invader, just recovering from its own confusion attack, was not so fortunate. When the static cleared, the ruptured remains of the mutated Invader seemed to have reverted in death, as the glitch faded away; only one foe remained now.

Invader2Invader2 (Invader)

Flying about with its eyes bloodshot, its lips permanently scowling, and its comically tiny arms folded, the Invader is a mostly humanoid-shaped virus, about 5 feet tall, wearing a tight bodysuit that covers its body from neck to toe. It is much shorter in reality, however, if you look past the gigantic cranium it has on its head, which easily takes up a third of its total size. Bulging with folds and creases, it seems to pulse every few moments with electrical arcs running over its surface. With intelligence up and above most viruses (and some Navis), they will not hesitate to use more complex tactics than normal viruses. The V1, V2, and V3 versions have blue, purple and red skin respectively. Normal versions wear a white bodysuit with black trim, while EX versions wear a black bodysuit with white trim. The Z version has light green skin with purple bodysuit and black trim, and its eyes are entirely purple.

Service Desk: 120Hp [MetalBody] [Opposite Jazz, near end of the lobby]
Groaning out as he returned to normal, Jazz began to slowly awaken from his drunken stupors, having managed to make his way over to the metal desk he never thought to use earlier and collapsed behind, but regardless of what happened prior, he was reeling from more than just a massive hangover. Blinking away the floating bubbles from his vision, the rabbit slowly managed to get to his feet, head turning back and forth as he realized he wasn't in the main area and instead behind the desk in the end of the lobby. Stephine.Jazz.How. In the name of the hero...did I get behind this desk? And why are there only one of the viruses left? Jazz asked...as calmly as he could in his current predicament, head turning to the final virus as he hid behind the desk for a moment, realizing his barrier was broken while his mind was out to lunch. Long story short? Mindbender fried your wittle wabbit bwain for a moment. I had to force-code your arms to attack with...ah...needles? Whatever you threw at them, you killed the other Invader remarkably with a glitch of all things and it used Mindbender again before hand...somehow you got over there and now are not confused, while it's remaining ALLY is. Funny how things work out in a cosmic sense.

Stephine had explained to the rabbit what happened, Jazz, STILL befuddled by what happened, let out an exasperated sigh as he rubbed his eyes again, preparing himself to fight for one more moment. Alright...alrightalrightalright. Just...please give me the CircleGun1. I think I can end this here. Jazz spoke, slightly exasperated as he began to channel the powers of nature into his body. Even this far up from the world below (so to speak), he had a grasp of Nature in it's purest form. The wafting breeze of a sunny spring day blowing in from behind the bunny as he took a deep breath, filling his lungs with much less stale air than he had been breathing for the last little bit. As he did so, his body took on a faint glow, his hands reaching into his suit to pull out a quartet of bullets, rounded to a sharp point to pierce through even the toughest of hides in the network.

Receiving his chip data, Jazz kneeled behind the counter somewhat. Slowly but surely, a long barreled sniper rifle began to compose itself into his waiting hands. Well crafted, the weapon was worn and full of scars and markings, black soot clinging to the barrel whilst the body and stock were made in a manner befitting the rabbit, wood and dulled titanium forming the body in a haphazard way as the stock leaned into his shoulder almost painfully so. Dropping down a pair of arms for the weapon's barrel, Jazz placed the weapon down gently on the metal service desk and with it, looked down the metal sights atop the barrel, slowly moving the weapon out of the doorframe and with it, taking aim at the virus. Inhaling deeply, Jazz held his breath as he inserted each bullet into the side loading chamber one at a time, filling it with it's four shots and loading the first into the firing mechanism. Without a sound, Jazz took his aim, keeping himself trained on the virus for as long as he could, holding his breath and steadying his aim...and took the shot. A blast of gunpowder filling the room as he took the shot, an echo of the blast ringing out loudly across the area and hoping for a headshot on the little purple navi eater.

Ejecting the used bullet casing from the opposite side of the weapon, the hollow bullet rang out against the floor for a brief moment before Jazz repeated his attacks. One after another, rifle cartridges ejected from the same side of the weapon, all while the weapon's blasts rang through the area and attempted to find purchase in the Invader's squishy skull, all the while Jazz continued to hold his breath and tried to keep his aim steady, even as the recoil of the weapon blasted painfully into his shoulder.

With his mind clear and his remaining foe less so, Jazz was able to collect himself and make sure he finished this particular invasion soundly. As much as it took him a few moments to set up his rifle properly, the Invader seemed to reel about near the entry way, struggling to clear its vision and unable to focus on him directly. A few moments late,r Jazz was able to sight and fire; despite his target's weaving stumbles, he was able to connect a single clean shot that pierced through the virus' bulbous head and fling the body backwards out the door, where it tumbled across the observation deck and stilled. Without nay need to take his remaining shots, it seemed this incursion was done with and Jazz was able to pack up his kit and quickly claim the fragmented data spoils that remained.

With the field cleared, and no further threats, Jazz was free to return to his mission-buddy when he was ready. Back up the stairs, her found Prose still working... more or less. Rather, his first sight upon cresting the stair well was of the bunny girl kneeling up on the back of her chair, leaning over the desk while she tapped at a console with just one hand, going through the checks a lot more slowly; the other hand seemed to be tucked away near her chest, out of sight. For some reason, her skirt was also hiked up more than it needed to be, bunched up on the top of her hips rather than doing its covering duty. On the screen in front of her, and displaying on the larger central view, was a room that looked, at first, to contain several male, humanoid-looking navigators, though they bore faintly bestial features around the ears and eyes, as well as tufts of grey fur at their wrists and ankles, and matching canine tails. The details were visible because the figures in the room were otherwise undressed, and engaged in very energetic adult activity with each other. A second glanced revealed another oddity; it wasn't many different navigators, so much as a half dozen exactly identical beings, down to the last hair and freckle. Prose was swinging back and forth slowly on the pivot of her chair and biting her lip as she watched the screen.

A Jazz arrived, however, her glance snapped around and he caught the sound of a small gasp; the hand on the key pad raced over it quickly finishing the cheeks and sliding the view out of sight as she half turned and thrust a hand down over her behind to straighten her skirt. Despite the quick fix, an obvious flush of colour remained in her cheeks, where her fur was thinnest.

“Ah! All done? That was quick!” There was a paused moment where her eyes fixed on Jazz, but they both knew she hadn't successfully hidden anything from him. “Em... Still, ah, running through the checks. No problems found yet, but, um... the rogue level guests all seem a little bit more active than normal. Not sure why yet.” She swallowed and cleared her throat, then grinned and rolled her shoulders, then turned back to the console and moved along to the next one.

“So, um... So you asked about what the place is before.” She started to chat brightly, attempting to brush quickly past any comments on her less than professional behaviour. “I'm surprised you don't recognise some of it, honestly, though... maybe further down you will. They're not all navigators, but, programs of all sorts, or even some usual viruses, and other net entities that pose a significant danger to themselves, or to others, or, in some cases, to the network as a whole...”

As she spoke, the next screen came up, this time showing what looked like an open field of soft blue grass. A prog was lying in the grass, wearing a simple gardening smock and with a wreath of small roses woven into a flower crown about its large paddle ears. Its eyes were closed and it had a broad beatific smile on its features, while successive curling grows to red roses sprouted from the grass and grew, endlessly. A short way from the prog, anomalies in the blue grass seemed to be constantly rising up to prune back the growths and keep the rose patch from spreading further.

“Even you..? Everyone is just that little bit more... awake...” She shook her head as she moved onto the next screen. “Unless I can work out what's going on, we'll need to actually go down to the containment areas directly. Hopefully we won't need to.” She glanced back and paused, swinging around in her chair to look at Jazz properly, arms folded over the back and with her head on one side.

“I'd like to say that this is all voluntary, but I think you understand it's not. None of the entities that are looked after and contained here are suffering, as best as we can manage, but they can't be helped or rehabilitated either, for the most part...” she glanced away to the side, and a flash of guild slid across her features. “It's... it's also for study. You probably deserve to know that much. Some of these, they'd be decommissioned, or rendered back to base code and rebuilt, or reset and restored in some way. At least, a lot of the upper level ones could be... might wipe who or what they are, but... some of the people I work with insist that this alternative is better than that, and they want to study the anomalies. The worst cases...” She shrugged and rolled her shoulders uncomfortably. “They get locked in different kinds of stasis so that they aren't aware of the time.” Her eyes flicked across to Jazz for a fraction of a second, before she turned back to her work.

The next screen was the first monitor for the terminals labelled 'CN' in their designates, and this one opened on a black space, devoid of light. In the centre of it, a golden skull seemed to float in space, slowly dripping a black substance from each of its cavities, to drizzle down into the black that surrounded it. Prose began running the checks, but as Jazz watched it, the skull slowly turned upwards, towards the view focus, and the rictus grinning smile opened and became a sudden snarl. Nearby he heard Prose utter a word that sounded entirely inappropriate coming from a cute bunny girl.

“He's not even meant to be aware, let alone... angry. It's all stable, he can't do anything or get out, but... he shouldn't be aware at all. What in the world is going on...” Her eyes turned down the line of consoles to briefly look at the one on the far end from her, separated from the rest.

“Jazz... I'm sorry, but I need to go down, now. I need to see this, and I can't leave you here alone. This is way more than you signed on for, but...” She twisted about and hopped down from the chair, darting across to Jazz and reaching up to take one of his hands if he let her.

“I'm so sorry, Jazz. I didn't expect this. I can't leave without fixing it, because I can't report it, because I'm not meant to have navigators close to me for this long. I'm sorry, I just wanted to see you and I thought this would be fine... You can still pull out now, and we can sort something else out later... but otherwise, you need to come with me, and if you do, you won't be able to leave until it's fixed.” She looked up at him, wide blue eyes pleading; the conflict was clear on her delicate features... one part of her obviously wanted Jazz to stay, and come with her, while another part was worried.
Grunting out as he let the chip disentigrate from his grasp, Jazz had slowly gotten his bearrings back, letting out a sigh of relief as the fight came to it's conclusion. He knew full well there was gonna be more rogue viruses before the end of the mission and a chance to enjoy some more downtime with his bunny. But regardless, his PET scooped up the scattered rewards and he made his way back up stairs (ugh), taking the steps two or even three at a time with a hop in his step before finally coming back to where Prose was at...and an..."interesting" sight as he silently walked forward, a blush on his and Stephine's faces as they caught her doing some "extra" things on the clock...the screen obviously flustering Jazz, while Stephine was more in a quiet shock at the screen's occupants. Huh. So even navis can contort like that in a-Hahaha...anyways... The two began to speak in almost tandem before Prose finally noticed the rabbit in the entryway, quickly finding her own composure for the time being.

No, I honestly don't. He responded almost immediately to the question to his question. He was still trying to think before a quick flash of pain and a hazy static overtook his mind for a second. Ooogh. Sorry, trying to remember somethings...it causes some pain...like I have a memory block... He quickly spoke again, pain palpable in his face as he put a hand on his head as she continued to explain, letting out a nod for a brief moment. A timeless stasis eh...sounds a lot like what happened to me...just...less tech involved. GAH! He spoke again, an even larger jolt of pain raising to the surface as he tried to think back even further, just before his "imprisonment", but static flooded his senses for a brief moment as she continued along her checks...and then the anomaly he expected showed up...a golden skull...likely in that timeless stasis...looking up at them from within...aware...ANGRY...it was more than enough for Jazz to snap back to reality as he saw Prose visibly concerned.

I'm going. Don't worry about me, worry more about yourself. He spoke simply after she explained the situation. She'd quickly get a hug from the much larger lapine, picked up and given a kiss on the forehead, letting her face rest on his shoulder after, a heavy squeeze along her body as he whispered into her ear. This ain't even me wanting to advance now. I just want to repay your kindness. I want to see everything through, come hell or high water. I don't want your job to be on the line because of me...and I want to make sure you come out alright. Jazz spoke quickly, simply, succinctly with a playful grin on his face as he gently put her down, kneeling to her level for a moment longer to add on Plus, yer bosses can kiss my ass. Rules were made to be broken, and I don't see anything wrong with ya "fraternizing" or otherwise enjoying your time with navis outside yer organization. He spoke, the firmness of his words hopefully putting to rest any unease she had as he let go and stood. Lead the way, Prose. I'll keep ya protected to my last breath. Worry about your life ahead of mine, I'll do everything to protect you...and everything I can to keep you safe. And don't be afraid to run, I at least have an Emergency Jack Out to fall back on if I do get merked. As far as I can tell, you don't. Yer life's more precious than a megalomaniac's.
Still holding one of his hands in both of hers, Prose closed her yes and seemed to sigh with relief as he answered. She was pliable to his sudden hug, her body slight, warm and soft in his arms as she let her head rest against him.

“Thank you...” It was a soft, vulnerable tone, of a sort he'd only heard once before, whispered delicately in his ear on a previous night, in the tired afterglow of a more enjoyable exercise. After a moment, once he set her down again, he felt her pull back and slip away, seemingly regaining her composure and focus, though she was grinning again now as she looked at him and listened to the rest of what he had to say. Once more, there was that brief flash of something else, maybe guilt maybe uncertainty, as he pondered which of them was safer and her eyes flicked down to one side as she shrugged her shoulders.

“Well, I mean, not, not exactly, I guess... but I'll be fine, I promise... but Jazz, I want you to make me a promise, okay?” Now she looked back up and grinned more broadly, a warmer smile beneath raised eyebrows. “I want you to try to stop thinking about yourself like that, okay? You're not... that... any more. I believe that. Now...” She turned and gestured with her head beginning to move toward the stairs. She'd only moved a few paces before she looked back over her shoulder, winked at Jazz, then broke into a nimble, springing run that seemed to carry her back down the spiralling stairs using the walls as rebounds as much as the steps themselves... though if he keep up it certainly provided an entertaining view.

Back down at the central level, Prose had darted across to the are with marked transit pads and was keying up a data signature. In the upper networks, Jazz might normally have expected the broken hole in the middle of the lobby, or for that matter, the shattered doors, to have auto-repaired and restored themselves by now, but here, the damage still lingered.

“Best we get you down through the proper transits... It sounded like your operator was having trouble keeping a stable connection, and if I take you down further, my way, you'll probably lose her altogether. Using the proper transit should keep it stable for you.” She finished signing something up and one of the pads to her left came online properly, blue light shooting through its various parts and energising the ground plate. Prose tilted her head and bounced on her toes.

“I don't play so nice with these transits, but I'll meet you on the other side, okay? I'll be right there” She winked and waited for him to step onto the pad without her, waving as it whisked him away.

The transport itself was fast and smooth; a rush of the senses that felt like he was descending very quickly, though not quite falling. Sight was a brief blur, though he had the stretched out impression of rushing towards the hollowed out, destroyed planetoid below, but the image fractured and blurred as it extenuated, and his perception shifted suddenly from a dim all around blue light, to a much darker gloom.

When the transport ended, Jazz found his senses righting themselves with a brief dizzy spell and a mild unsteadiness on his feet that passed after a second or two. He was standing in a dark, matte metal grey cubicle of some kind, with a sign at the top, written in a script made up of different combinations of vertical and horizontal lines; it made no sense but something about it seemed oddly familiar.

Beyond the small square space, the landing bay led into a n open circular room with three other similar bays connecting it, and a double door that was half open; it seemed to have come out of its housing on one side, and was at a slight angle, while the other side of the door was completely crumpled and shattered, blocking part of its side in a mangled heap. The room itself was dark; a single panel light in the ceiling tried to flicker on, but didn't manage to light up fully, and only gave a faulty glow to part of the surrounding chamber. A series of desks with broken or upturned chairs were scattered about, and parts of the floor and walls were cracked or broken away, revealing damaged circuitry behind.

“Meep?” A sound from just beyond the partially opened doors echoed through the room.
“Meep! Meep-Meep!!” It was followed by another, more excited sound, before a trio of shapes huddled quickly through the gap. Small shapes; helmeted shapes; helmeted shapes bearing excitedly waving pickaxes. The helmets on these ones were an impressive bright blue colour and they bundled in, chattering excitedly as they looked at Jazz. The trio lined up, and immediately began to scribble on a long sheet of scrap paper that one of them tugged out from under an over-turned bench. The two on either side held up the ends of it; the message read, in cartoonish, childish scripts: “Let Chaos Rule!” The middle one seemed so excited by this prospect that it was hoping from foot to foot, and a brief glow was followed by a single holy panel forming beneath it.

Before anything further could develop, a sound filled the room that felt like the shrieking static of tearing data. The trio of metools cringed and flinched as the sound screeched, and then a familiar white-furred shape landed in front of them, one hand down and posture low; Jazz could see Prose's back, the pose flicking up the back of her skirt, but more prominently, that same faint red glow from before; seen clearly now, he could make out a slender pair of spectral red wings, made of flowing energy, standing proud from between her shoulder blades and casting light around her immediate space. They fluttered slowly as she steadied herself and looked up.

“Meep?” One of the metools tilted its helmet to the side, and Jazz saw the bunny girl glance over her shoulder and then back to the viruses. She stood quickly.

“Ah! No. Shoo! No, no, no... Go on, away...” She began making hurried shooing motions, trying to coax them back out the door. One of the three jumped and and down, then meeped at her again, waving at Jazz with its pickaxe. “I know, I know, but not today, now go on, get... shoo!” They began to turn and amble away, but the most excited of the trio lingered, stamping its foot. Prose's wings glowed briefly. “GO.” The word came out different from her normal voice, and something about it echoed in Jazz's ears for an extra few seconds as the last of the three promptly turned and trudged away after its friends. The bunny girl took a breath and her wing glows died down, fading away to faint pinpoints of light that could just be reflections of the stylised wingprints on the back of her top. She turned, hands behind her back and a broad, if nervous-seeming grin on her face.

“Hi! Right, sorry about that! Forgot I had to shut down some extra systems before I followed you down! All good now. Are you ready to go? We've got a bit of walk before we get to the actual maintained part of the facility, but it won't take too long. You'll draw attention until we get to the controlled parts... not many navigator signals around these nets, most of the time, but I think we'll be fine!” She crossed the space between between them, running over so she could jump and spin to land beside Jazz and take hold of his hand, swinging it back and forth, and begin to lead him towards the door. “I keep thinking it would be really nice to get all of the outlying parts of this place neatened up, but there's just no time, and the deep structures don't repair the same way... Inside the filter it's easy enough, that's all kept modernised, but out here... it just falls to ruin, unless one of the cleaner systems happens to chance over it, and you know there just aren't enough of them that actually work any more down here, so the odds of that are slim to none. I haven't seen a Myriad-M or a Myriad-E in these parts in months, and we've only got F-series ones kept here for observation anyway, so they're no good, unless you like playing 'the-floor-is-lava'...”

Prose rambled at an almost determined pace as she led Jazz out past the ruined doorway and into the passages beyond. The tunnel immediately branched, each fork with more signs in the oddly familiar script, but his guide didn't hesitate, trotting along at a skip. The one she took him down twisted to the left, then angled hard, before filtering into a broad, circular tunnel that gave way from the dark metal to some kind of glass; beyond it, Jazz could see dark caverns of craggy rock, where floating chunks of stone and metallic space debris floated. In the gaps, he could see the blue-purple star scatter of space, peeking in through gaps in what he could only assume was the destroyed planetoid he'd seen from above.
Inhaling deeply and closing his eyes as he turned his head to see her breaking into a run and bounding down the stairs ahead of him before he could make a comment. I'll try...I really will... He spoke to the air in front of him as he began to run down the stairs down behind her, getting a few peeks at her as she bounded down the stairs, practically slipping himself down along the railing. Meanwhile, Stephine was furiously typing at the keyboard in front of her, popups about various families of viruses popping up in a neat and tidy fashion, information flooding her screen for the time being as she mumbled under her breath. Alright...lets see, so these families exist in the NAXA region...so if I isolate these...oh that's a nasty trick these gain in rogue nets...my my, a number of targets don't like breaking, so Jazz can take advantage of that... She continued to mumble as she continued to pour over the data that recently became available, though she didn't seem metaviruses were going to be a big issue, but all the same their profiles began to pop up as much as she possibly could see, her PC screen absolutely full of these popups.

Whilst Stephine was busy spoiling herself of any possible surprise so she didn't have to fast-code a fix for Jazz, the navi himself met back up with Prose before long, listening to Stephine mumble to herself and giving herself a headache in the process. As he walked through the central level, Jazz noting how the battle damage had remained even after the battle ended, something he'd likely need to get used to. She mumbled something about the PET, something about it being used, so maybe that was part of the problem? I don't know for sure, honestly, it's my first rodeo with the rogue networks myself. Maybe your programming and the sudden phasing through networks may have had something to add to it? But it's sounding like she has the perfect frequency for the rogues, so I doubt it'll be a problem in the future...I hope. Jazz spoke after Prose, shrugging his shoulders simply as he began to move onto the lift. See ya in a minute. He spoke simply, giving a wink as he was whisked downward into the station, deeper and deeper he went as the lights faded out as Stephine continued to mumble to herself all the while, Jazz feeling almost weightless from the quickness and the continued downward motion of the lift...all before he found himself in a dank, dark gloom that permeated along the entirety as he made his stop...and with it, the dizzy spell and unsteadiness that followed, but they passed fairly quickly despite that.

Regardless of the dank and gloom that wafted around his senses, he knew he was in a completely different area...a foreign script on a sign above him... Can't put my fingers on it...but...I feel like I've seen that kind of writing before...been over thirty years...but...hmmm... He mumbled to himself as he continued on, head and body on a swivel as his senses continued to spark and flare up as he continued along...past the cubicle...and into a much more open area, bays going three ways, little light to go on...and a dilapidated...destroyed part of the network beneath the observation area he was at just previously...damaged circuitry, destroyed double doors, it was a blur of destruction and unkemptness that brought his heartrate skyrocketing. Though the sound of a meep brought his attention, liking it or not, he began to slowly make his way towards the sounds...much to his chagrin, it was a trio of metools, even in the dank darkness he knew exactly what those shapes were. "Let Chaos Rule" scrawled out in a childish manner, he began to back up as Stephine piped up in his ear. ARE THOSE METOOL3S!? Those are out of your league! Jazz, get the fuck outta there before they skewer you! She half screamed into his ear...though he was not about to fight against that sentiment, his flight senses kicking in before his savior came down from above, head immediately swiveling to see Prose...and with it, that same peculiar red glow...red wings, he wasn't hallucinating as he phased through the floor...

Fluttering down from above, Jazz stood where he was as she finished her "transport" down from the station, he felt static, heard it shrieking at him as she touched down, memories attempting to flood back before only giving him a migraine, clutching his head in his hand, Prose began to shoo the metool3's away and with it. They listened and began to leave through the door from whence they came...only for one to be defiant and get Jazz's migraine to flare up again as she spoke, echoing across his mind for a moment more before it cleared up and with it, her wings disappearing and with it only faint pinpoints of light...he was calm, he was fine as he let his head go. Alright...despite that scare, I think I analyzed the virus population for NAXA at least...I feel the need to go make a trip to the navishop before we do much more. Stephine spoke in his ear, Jazz concentrating on Prose for the time being. It's alright, you saved me from getting turned into a shishkabob at least. But yea, I'm ready to go forward. Jazz spoke curtly, before directing his attention to his operator. Stephine, we'll deal with what we have for the time being. I don't feel comfortable going forward without battlechip support, maybe after the next fight I get into we'll have enough downtime for a quick trip, god knows I need to get that glitch "upgrade" to my buster overwritten. He responded to her in another breath, letting out a sigh before following along with Prose, giving her hand a gentle squeeze as she took it in hers. I noticed, the broken doors and the hole I made against those Invaders didn't heal, so I'm not exactly surprised it's not exactly kept up down here. But I think I can handle whatever viruses come out of the woodwork, looking for an easy target. He responded again, before blinking briefly and shaking his head. Wait, Miryads? F-Series? Seriously Prose, once we get done with what needs to be put back to sleep or browbeaten back to bed like the defiant child it is, we're having a talk about all this!...preferably at a nice quiet place when you got some downtime. He spoke again, his eyes looking about as he was lead past the doorway, down the interconnecting tunnels that lead deeper and deeper into the area he had been brought into, though despite all the foreboding nature of these tunnels...he couldn't help but...feel kinda homely in them...
The back-of-the-mind sensations of distant familiarity continued to niggle without any clear answers unearthing themselves. The glass corridor continued, drawing a straight line through the destroyed planetoid's cavernous ruins, and for a few moments, there was something approaching quiet. Beyond the tunnel's walls, Jazz could see that they were floating in deep space, with starry nebulae far beyond, and floating chunks of broken rock and ruined structure caught in the degraded gravity of the former planet. The interior seemed like it bore many of these fixed corridors, linking different parts of the rock, while most of the central area seemed to have been blasted open by some monumental force or impact, and the facility constructed throughout the ruins afterwards. His guide had gone quiet after her initial rush of chatter, but eventually glanced up towards him again; the soft red glow at her back was the only real source of light close by and it cast a shadow over her soft smile.

“There's answers I can't give you, Jazz. Answers to questions that no-one ever thinks to ask because they don't ever see me for more than a few minutes. But when we're done with this, I'll tell you everything I can. I promise.” She reached up to give his hand another squeeze, then focused forward again and picked up their pace slightly, breaking into an easy springing amble that was more reminiscent of a literal rabbit's gait than one with her human-like proportions. It made her tail flick up each spring, and conveyed all the same signals.

As they moved, however, Jazz could see that their corridor was approaching the craggy wall of the planetoid again, so presumably the journey to the better maintained area couldn't be too far. It was as he was noticing this, however that the hare would be able to notice something else; a large, jagged strut of metal, connected to an angular section of grey rock, spinning slowly across the open space beyond their tunnel; it arced downward in its travel, and it wouldn't take a mathematician to realise the collision was imminent. As the shadow fell across them, Prose skidded to a halt, backing up a few steps until she pressed against Jazz.

“Ah! Damnit, hang on...” She sounded shocked, but not terribly panicked – though there wasn't exactly anything to hang onto, despite her words. The impact came a moment later; with a dully crunch, the rock struck the top side of the glass corridor. To its credit, the impact was dispersed into a spreading spiderweb of racing cracks, rather than shattering it entirely, but as the chunk of space debris ground across it, the glass warped, pressed inwards, and then with a rending sound began to tear apart, ripping a section clear away from the pathway ahead of them.

Shattering glass floated as the gravity in the tunnel seemed to falter; each step was far, far lighter than it had been before. A few feet from them both, the jagged end of the tunnel had unrolled on one side, leaving a floating strip of fractured glass that seemed to be holding together by whatever strength of reinforcement it bore; a few seconds had torn free entirely and floated away from the centre, while other smaller space rocks also added to the wreckage. A haphazard array of dubiously solid masses were now all that remained between Jazz's end of the tunnel, and the far side, some sixty feet away. Standing with him, Prose frowned.

“Drat... This is what I mean. There are almost no UTE repair programs still working this far down. This will never get fixed on its own... Okay, come on, just, be careful and don't fall, alright?”

She stepped to the edge, then moved with light steps out onto the loosely moving sections of fractured glass; they swayed up and down under even her almost weightless steps. With two or three short hops, and skips between floating debris, the smaller bunny began making her way across the wreckage towards the far side. When she was about halfway, however, a new sound added itself to the others; a dark howling, like black wind that echoed through the space wreckage. Shapes began to take form; three red shadows, each bearing a red-tinged piece of jagged metal and a single eye, two to the left of the tunnel and one to the right, each a short distance off into empty space, but leering inwards. At the same time, electrical cracks began to spark up, responding to the sudden activity; one the piece of metal and rock that had caused this problem, two more shapes pulled themselves out of crevices in the metal; they each looked like progs, but severely damaged; one was missing one ear, and seemed like a bite had been taken out of its side by some other creature; scrambled, dead eyes showed no sign of real awareness as sparks fluctuated and arced from its damaged internals. The other was missing part of its head and one eyes, as well as an arm, but as it clawed its way up, it raised the one it had remaining.

“A- ALL INTRUDERS-” its voice box crackled and skipped. “MUST -MUST RE-REPORT TO-” another break of static, “SOCIAL HUGGING ROUTINES!!” Its one good arm reached out towards the two out-of-place bunnies.

Prose looked back towards Jazz, eyes widening as a hint of true panic seemed to flash across her features and the pinpoints of red light at her back flared into small energy-formed wings again.

“Jazz! Damnit... Jazz, get here, quickly! This is going to seem strange, but please, trust me Jazz! Please! I need you to stay in this field if you can!” As she pleaded, she thrust both hands out to the side from the middle chunk of glass she was standing on, and a red glowing ring of energy spread out from her feet; it was double-layered, and between the two concentric circles, small symbols that looked like a kind of code, naturalised into language, scrolled around the circle's edge. The ring expanded out to take up at least a decent portion of the middle section, before holding steady. A wave of energy stretched up and down from the ring, forming a faint red sphere of light. There was something uncomfortably familiar about it; a thread of something not remembered rebelling against the sight, while Prose's eyes pleaded with him.

-=Forgotten Nightmares=-
DarkmareDarkmare (Nightmare)

Nightmare viruses only appear in battle when Missing Terrain is present, and only one Nightmare may appear per panel of Missing Terrain. Nightmares do not dodge, and they only move by teleporting before and after attacking an enemy. Nightmares have permanent Shadow, unless they are attacking. Teleporting before and after their attacks does not require an action. They will always end a turn while floating over Missing or Hole Terrain. If the Hole terrain is altered in any way, they will instantly teleport to unoccupied Missing Terrain. Nightmares cannot share ownership of a Missing Panel with other viruses that require Missing Terrain to be on the field. If for any reason there is not enough Missing Terrain to accommodate a Nightmare at the end of a turn, the Nightmare will Escape from the battle immediately.

Battlefield is a field of broken glass, rock and metal floating between the two ends of the tunnel. One section of glass extends to the left of the near end of the tunnel, like an unrolled spiral, and comes to a jagged taper after about half a movement's distance. Other small chunks of various types litter the space, but a single large sheet of cracked glass occupies the mid section. To the left side, about in the middle, a large metal beam angles upwards, with a small gap between its end and the central glass section, up to a large, blocky chunk of metal and stone terrain that seems like it may have been part of the facility at one time. All surfaces maintain their own gravity, somewhat, but it's very tenuous. Don't jump too hard unless you know what you're aiming for.

Making their way through the ruins of the planetoids they wondered their way through, Jazz continued to wind his way through with Prose as blasted corridors they ran through. Jazz knew where they were at, unfortunately Stephine had just not yet caught on, having waved away the thought thinking the Metools had been a misnomer...but no, Jazz knew full well that wasn't a one-time thing. He felt her take his other hand in hers and give a squeeze, the navi giving a squeeze back as they continued along to their target, it was obvious it was gonna be a long way, but all the same, their travels needed to be taken. Of course, there was gonna be some Snafus along the way, as their intended path crunched and folded like nothing else as the path crumpled and disappeared to some degree, missing holes all along the area along with cracked glass, mashed up metal and just barely salient rock clinging onto one another to give them just enough to escape the area.

THEN OF COURSE, there were viruses. Tier 3s no less. And with it, finally putting two and two together, Stephine had a real good idea of JUST WHERE THEY WERE. W-We're in the chaos nets...oh my fucking god she's gonna get you killed. Jazz, simply rolled his eyes at this "sudden revelation" as he nodded to Prose simply. I trust ya, Prose! he called out almost without a second thought, the code...the waves...they seemed...so familiar...but he didn't have time to think on it. But a sneaking thought in the back of his mind...pierced every fiber of his being. You can't trust her. She'll just leave you to die! Echoing about his mind, the voice almost spat angrily in the back of his mind. Jazz stopped in his tracks, not even a single muscle moved as it continued. Jazz!? What's wrong?! Hey! Answer me!Yeh can't escape yer past, Jazz. -I- would know. Just embrace the deeds of the past! EMBRACE WHO YOU ARE! The voice cascaded, louder and louder each word in the back of his head, the words cascading further and further as static...as an echoing hum in his ear turning into a ringing that silenced all the voices around him, a quiet screaming coming from the rabbit as he tried to fight...until a single scream from his PET sounded out. JAAAAAAAZZ! Stephine screamed out as loud as she could, practically bringing him back to reality. Jazz groaned as he held his head, a ringing noise still in the back of his ears, but all the same he could get back to buisness as needed. The rabbit pulling out what looked to be a small box, a very thin green liquid in the front as it contained...something Jazz had concocted in the interm before he made his way to NAXA. Just...just need me a dose of this real quick... He mumbled dryly as he slowly brought the box to his neck, flicking part of the back upwards to reveal a button on the back of it, a needle pricking his neck in short order and with it, an impress of the button, sending the medicine into the troubled hare's systems, draining it in short order and hucking the empty cart away onto the ground without a second thought. Haaaaa...maybe I'll get lucky and it'll keep him quiet till the end of this mission. He mumbled to himself, the rabbit feeling the lack of gravity on his shoulders, all the while he floated just above the paneling. The hare immediately taking off from where he was, making his quick and calculated movements towards Prose all the same, gliding his way across like he was moving along ice, doing everything he could to keep sane, keep his mind on the battle at hand. I'll do what I can to take care of the rabble, Prose. But if you got anything you want me to do, ask, I'll do it without a second thought. He spoke as he made his way over to her, the rabbit skidding to a halt within the barrier, an unpleasent feeling over his body, but nothing he couldn't deal with. No matter what He tells me, I'd trust you through hell and back. He mumbled, looking at the two families in front of him, he would have trouble with the Darkmares, but he could at least disperse with the broken programs for the most part.

A grin on his face, Jazz quickly activated the dragon, bringing his hand down onto the glass surface beneath him, a ripple outwards and a brief second of nothing happening before a cry sounded out, echoing around the area for a moment. Out from one of the missing glass panels, a winged lizard flew from below and into tunel they were forced to fight in. Not exactly a dragon, the tiny wyvern that Jazz summoned had glistening icy scales that glinted even in the chaotic network's low lights, it's size about half that of it's summoner's as an icy aura surrounded it's body whist it flew above all of them. Go! Those programs are your target, plus one of those shadow swords! Jazz cried out as the creature nodded in understanding. The creature immediately letting out a dragonic cry, it divebombed down towards the duo of battered programs without a second thought, icy aura attempting to catch upon their bodies as it flew past, icicles being created as it flew by and attempting to skewer through each program's body, honing in on the delapidated programs for a first pass, as it attempted to divebomb the Darkmare it had chosen, even if it wouldn't hurt it physically it could at least freeze up it's programing and keep it from attacking for the time being. After it's attacks had finished, it let out another cry into the air, it's voice reverberating through the area as a trio of secondary icicles began to float above each target's position, ready to attack again if the need presented itself before diving back into the missing paneling and leaving the area for the time being.

Quickly following up his Wyvern's attack, Jazz held his hands outwards. Don't mind me, just being a little selfish... He playfully said, the rabbit's body quickly glowing with a light green color, sending out waves of energy around his body, a quick pair of a casing and barrier immediately surrounding his body, even as Prose's energy made him just a little bit uncomfortable he had no choice but to get used to it for the time being. The navi immediately pulling a wide barreled gun from his suit, a fell energy emitting from the weapon as he began to take aim at the programs, his arm slowly but surely trying to track upon them. Alright, lets see if we can't thin out this here heard. He mumbled as he fired, fell energy evacuating the barrel realitively quietly hopefully towards the target he took aim at...and with it's impact upon a hard enough surface, exploding outward from it's impact point like a bomb, sound echoing about like the full brunt of a RPG round, shcorched and blackened from all around. Tossing the hot weapon back behind him, Jazz quickly took on a defensive stance within the aura Prose gave off, ready to evade the next attacks that came after him with a simple fient to the side or so much as going backwards if the need came up, if only to save his hide.

As the darkness seemed to grow deeper with the presence of the red shadowed viruses, Jazz saw a flicker of relief on his companion's wide-eyed expression as he answered, before she turned her gaze away, looking at the field surrounding them. Almost immediately the other whisper came, and he was left to fight off the resurgent element in his mind while he saw the bunny girl's form flicker; almost like a static displacements, there were now three of her in the ring, each in light-footed, mobile combat stances, hands up and ready but loose and with no obvious weapons.

Jazz was snapped out of his daze a moment alter and took a dose to steady himself; this particular formula raced through his system and left his senses feeling sharper and more focused; his ears were keen to all of the subtle little noises that gave tell to his enemies' movements, and his eyes fixed on the most dangerous considerations more easily as renewed strength filled him. Not a moment too soon, as it turned out; just as Jazz bounded forward towards the warding field, one of the red shadows warped close to him, blade swinging with ruthless intent. It sailed by, shaving hair with a whisper that Jazz knew would have been nearly enough to bisect him if he had been a few hairs slower.

Just as he reached the circle, he saw another one warp into the middle of the ring; as it appeared, its form shuddered and on Stephine's PET its statistical read out weakened, both in hp and its expected offence values. It seemed to shrug the effect off enough to sweep its blade at one of the Prose figures, but the bunny twisted to one side. I n an instant a second one moved in, slipping one arm up and around the sides of its blade and seeming to hold the virus, planting her feet against its position. The third Prose stepped in, all in the same fluid motion and reached up to place a hand almost softly against the back of its shoulder.

“Sorry...” It was a quiet whisper; perhaps he hadn't been meant to hear it, but either way, tracings of light spread through the virus in a flash and it disintegrated into threads of data and code. The barrier seemed to draw the data back and away, out to the edges then up the dome of the field, before it all funnelled down again in strands of red energy that met up with the tips of one of the Prose-figure's wings and filtered into her. The three images of her stepped apart again, watching, though the one nearest Jazz reached out with a nod, helping to pull him into the circle with her.

Outside the ring, just as he stepped across the threshold and felt the pricking burn of the field on him, another of the darkmares warped in behind. This one didn't cross into the circle, but instead thrust its blade down to the cracked and damaged glass, causing a spreading, sucking dark to swirl up instead; two independent patches of shadow began to howl with an unnerving wind moan, and Jazz could feel them beginning to draw at everything around them, including him. Even so, Prose grabbed his hand and pulled him close the rest of the way a moment later.

“Stay with me, okay? Keep on your toes.” Another flood of energy raced from her grip to his, and while Jazz was already quick, he suddenly began to feel faster than ever before. Just watch those viruses try to hit him now; no chance.

Further off, on the end of the metal strut, the two damaged programs had been steadying themselves and now the damaged crackles of electricity seemed to reach a peak as they both burst into a storm of sparks that briefly lit up the area. The pair positively glowed now, prepared to give a hug to end all hugs. Jazz wasn't about to let them get away with it easily, though, and summoned his dragon with a roar.

The first two blasts of icicles from his summon found their marks, skewering into the already damaged progs with penetrating accuracy. The third, less fortunately, didn't find its mark, even with Jazz's heightened accuracy and sharp senses, but there would be enough time for a second try at least. The Darkmare that had been attacked by the ice dragon warped into the bubble, slamming its sword into the glass and creating another black vortex that sucked and pulled at them; this one was smaller and less immediately painful, as the virus wasn't able to summon as large a rift in its weakened state. Even so, as it lifted its sword, about to warp away again, one of the Prose bunnies stepped in beside it and put a hand on its sword arm. She shimmered and flickered, then winked out of existence as the flickering spread to the Darkmare and its teleport failed, leaving the virus floating over the hole it had made, in the middle of the dome. Anther of the remaining Proses looked to Jazz.

“It's locked in on its attack cycle, so you'll have a clear shot until it warps out.” Despite the danger of the situation, a grin was curling one side of her lips now; she seemed more excited than threatened, now that Jazz himself was inside the field. “You know, it's almost time for me to start the gift runs again. I'm going to have to give you a special reward for all of this...” This comment came from the other Prose, who winked at him as she spoke. This one stepped back to the centre of the ring and took along breath, then made a peculiar motion with both her hands, close to her chest. As she spread them out, the cracked glass under their feet shifted and normalised itself, becoming dull, neutral data panels that formed a solid circle around them. The circle grew by stages until it had covered over the howling dark holes just outside the circle as well, and the strange sound stopped. The Darkmare in the field with them, gave a drawn out static shriek that sounded almost like it was garbled by latency; it seemed pained by the solid terrain now beneath it, but it still couldn't' seem to warp away from it for now, despite trying.

Jazz had a spare moment to raise his own protections, at last, but even as he did so, he had to dodge swiftly as the other remaining shadow virus warped in and tried to slash at him again; with his enhanced speed and reflexes, Jazz was able to avoid the sword stroke, but this one did indeed warp back out to its origin point before anyone could do anything about it.

Despite their massive damage, the two progs finished shaking off the ice and rime that coated them, their broken bodies glowing and crackling. With a loud, exuberant cry of “HUGS!!” the pair crackled and warped; one appeared next to Jazz and the other beside one of the Proses, however, as they entered the field, the red light raked them and both stuttered and wavered. Already badly damaged, the degradation that the field causes seemed to strip the two creatures of whatever was still holding them together and they collapsed on arrival. Their bodies broke down rapidly into data that was drawn back to the edge of the circle and absorbed into it as red strands of light that flowed up to the peak of the dome and once again funnelled themselves down to absorb into the same prose as before, through her back via the small energy wings that glowed.

Ready with his next weapon, Jazz's only real option was the held darkmare in their midst, but with a more destructively spreading weapon to hand in the moment, it seemed momentarily better to pick something else instead of a weapon that would risk hurting him and his companion if he fired it point blank. Across from him, the Prose in the centre opened her eyes again, double checking that the howling holes had been covered properly. Her eyes searched him for injuries, before she stepped close and reached up of his hand again. This time it was the familiar wash of her healing energy, soothing the all-over drain that the dark holes had wracked his body with.

“You still doing okay, Jazz? Just... Tell your operator I'm sorry, Okay? This wasn't planned, I don't want you to get hurt.” She turned back to the remaining foes, though only two were left now and she seemed calmer again.

Degradation Field: Red barrier sphere that extends in a Blast3 radius from Prose. Viral attacks entering or originating in this space are reduced in strength. Viruses within this space suffer a strong write integrity degradation, but only while they are within the sphere. Navigators feel the field like a mild sunburn, but are physically unaffected.

PMD: 25Hp [Embedded in the exposed rock at the end of the metal strut, far right and up, mid field]
Jazz's body began to be sucked into the holes the viruses put down, grunting out as he began to lose himself to the darkness they emitted and sucked away the data around them. But Prose kept him standing all the same, even as he felt his movements hasted and his eyes sharpen from the medicine he injected himself with. I'll be fine, don't worry honey...but thanks... He spoke, feeling the healing wash over his body like a soothing blanket. And...don't worry about Stephine...she knows we navigators and programs undertake this kind of danger, she knows full well we do this to keep the net safe...so don't mind her outbursts, she's gotta get used to this sorta thing sooner or later. Jazz continued, stepping forward towards the Darkmare that had been trapped in the degradation field, even as it pricked and stung at his skin he knew it was for the best, he wouldn't have been able to handle this on his own in his current state. Hey Jazz! What's going on down there?! The Darkmare's status just changed when it entered that field! Stephine cried out as the spreader had ejected itself from the PET unused, though her feed was clear she

That's my cue. He spoke playfully, flashing a playful grin at Prose. Prose's doing so Don't worry too much, Prose'll keep my furry hide in line! Now, if you'd be so kind as to send the BlueMoon and Sword, we can end this quickly! Jazz called out, the navi letting out a sigh of contentment, seemed the voice had yet to call out to him again, so that made things a lot easier on his tenuous mental state. A tenuous grumble from Stephine, she began to slot the two chips in, letting out a sigh as she felt useless from the outside. With chips in hand, Jazz immediately activated the BlueMoon for the virus in front of him, immediately holding his hand outwards, taking tenuous aim at the feted shadow that was held within the degradation field. You won't feel much more, so kindly stay still. Your friend will join you in Murkland real soon, I can guarantee that. Jazz spoke, a hushed tone as the energy of the chip began to gather into his palm, body radiating an almost heavenly energy as the hare began to channel it's immense power deep into his body, core giving off a faint light that gave the shadows ever more to fear as his core energy channeled deep into the hare's palm. Closing his hand into a fist, the rabbit's sharp eyes aimed right at the Darkmare's cyclopian eye and with it his finger extended, blue heavenly light moving to the very end of the digit. I'm more a "down to earth" guy, I like the feeling of dirt and rock beneath my feet...but I won't say no to a little assistance from a heavenly body...plus the moon's always been a nice gem orbiting earth... He mumbled under his breath, right before a thin piercing light shot silently out from his finger, aiming to delete the virus with a single blast as light surrounded the area. Bringing the dimly lit area to full bore and bathed in a pale blue light for a brief second before petering out, light fading as quickly as it came and with it, hopefully, no more held Darkmare within the degradation field.

I'm gonna want you to trust me on this next one, Prose. I'm gonna try and bait the other Darkmare into the area and parry it's sword swing with my own. While it's off balance...or rending my defenses in half, whichever happens, I'd like you to try and trap it like the other one and I'll finish it off with a couple sword swings, that sound like a plan? Jazz asked, the rabbit making his move before she could answer, his feet just barely moving him into the rough middle of Prose's field, just right in front to the side of her if nothing else. Hey! Cyclops! Yea, I'm talkin to ya you ugly bastard! Jazz shouted out, drawing his weapon from the chip data...a scythe, similar to the one the humanly aspect of death would wield, a jet black length of metal with a curved blade that roughly matched Jazz's height began to form in his hands, the blade large enough to potentially block attacks if it came up as Jazz pointed it towards the likely remaining Darkmare, his free hand outstretched as he began to bring his fingers towards him in a rhythmic motion. You think you can handle me when I got a blade in my hands? I doubt it, my sword's a hell of a lot sharper than yers! So if you think you can strike me, go right ahead and try! You won't get past my defenses and you saw what we did to yer friends! But hey, if you got a dull sword, I won't fault ya for running away with yer tail between yer legs! Jazz called out with a wicked and condescending grin on his face to sell the entire callout, teeth glinting briefly in the starlight around them. All the same, as he finished his almost-villainous callout, Jazz got himself into position. His body crouching down slightly as he held the scythe in both hands as he waited for the attack to come, his eyes and ears looking and feeling around for the Darkmare's attack, waiting for a swift retaliatory strike against Jazz. And when...if...the attack came, Jazz would swing his scythe upwards towards the giant shadowy sword in a swift motion, hoping for the sound of metal crashing against metal, the clang of two weapons clashing against one another as the attack was blown away with his own strength and timing. NOW! He called to Prose, hoping she was just as swift as her cross with him lead him to believe.

Sorry, just another hustle sweetheart. Now lets send you back to your friends, shall we? He spoke frankly, almost condescendingly towards the shadowy virus if it was caught and trapped inside the field. His scythe glinting as he brought it back towards the virus with both hands, aiming the curved blade of steel towards the virus' shadowy hide using the momentum from his own attempt to parry a potential attack to swing downwards at the virus' bottom half in a semi-circle worth of movement, slashing diagonally upwards at the creature without a second of thought between his attack. And with that swing came another, like the shadowy avatar of death, the rabbit's swing going upwards would curve towards the side as much as humanly possible as he sent a second slash towards the head analogue of the creature, attempting to behead the cyclopean virus like the reaper he emulated in this moment.

Before him, the stuck Darkmare twisted and swayed in place, its form weavring as it tried to escape; whatever the tiny bunny girl had done it, held for long enough and Jazz was able to blast the degraded virus with a searing beam of moonlight that pierced through its midsection and scattered its remnants into the red barrier field.

Prose was looking up at Jazz as he turned to tell her his plan but as he relayed it, the other virus warped in close, between them. Its blade swept out, aiming for Prose this time, but she ducked low, then slide to one side, twisting about behind the virus and coiling one of her small limbs about its shadowy sword arm. Peeking up from underneath its hand, arms above her head, she seemed to barely break her eye contact with Jazz for more than a moment or two.

“Got it!” With a wink, her form flickered and shimmered again, then winked out as, just like before, the static effect transferred to the Darkmare and it locked up, shrieking in place as its ability to warp away failed.

“Though, I guess no need to taunt it now, right?” Beside him, the only remaining Prose smirked and giggled into her hand. Enraged and seemingly in pain, the virus thrashed and flailed with its sword a second time; Jazz managed to catch and deflect the strike with a ringing clang, meeting its blade with his, before countering with two quick strikes of his own in return. With a whisper of sound like tearing cloth, the angry, garbled sounds of the virus were cut short and its form broke apart, filtering away into the edges of the field. Like previously, these viral remains broke down into strings of red energy and traced up the barrier's dome, then filtered down from the peak to flow into the end of his companion's wings.

With it, the dome itself collapsed down, the concentric binding rings uncoiling and feeding back into the same threads of energy that eventually all flowed back into Prose as she took deep breath and looked about. After a second to be sure it was clear, she grinned up at Jazz and then jumped up, wrapping her legs about his waist and locking her ankles behind him to hold herself up while she grabbed his shoulders and leaned up to nuzzle at his neck and cheek.

“You did great!” The grab became a quick hug before she let herself slip back down to the ground. “Sorry, it's a mess down here. Hopefully we won't have to worry about any more before we get there. Oh, hey, free present!” With a pair of short, sharp darting hops, she dashed away, practically ricocheting off the ground and the metal strut, to catch up the mystery data crystal and return to Jazz with it in her hands. She set it spinning in front of him before digging something small out of her chest band and pressing it to the crystal. “There you go! Open it, open it!” She bounced on her toes rapidly, all signs of her earlier sombreness gone and an excited flush cresting her features now that the fight was done. Jazz already had experience with the effect adrenaline seemed to have on the bunny girl, and despite the danger, now seemed no different.

Open PMD?
Letting out a drawn out sigh, Jazz was simply happy the battle was over, keeping himself from collapsing into a heap as he let the scythe he created go back into it's basest data. Stephine, equally, was happy the fight was over, as the PET calculated the rewards, her bank account for Jazz's upgrades going far beyond what she thought she'd have right now...plus, there was that chip data that had dropped...a dangerous, very deadly chip in the wrong hands...oh well into the folder it goes! But before he could think much on what happened, the bunny was given a large hug from the smaller bun, he of course reciprocated in turn with a firm squeeze around her before she could escape from him, bounding off to the purple mystery data that he had noticed in a glint of his eyes and with it, brought it back to him and even untrapped it for his use. Thanks Prose. It coulda gotten dicey for me if you weren't here. He said simply with a smile, giving her a kiss on the forehead.

No kidding...we might have been able to handle it some, but without you, it would have been a drawn out brawl. Stephine commented openly, dryly. But we're not out of the water just yet, and god knows there's gonna be more of those viruses to fuck our shit up. Gonna need to run for upgrades for Jazz, maybe get another sword or two, think there's a few people on the chip BBS looking for some cash...and this put us just over 15 thousand. Stephine commented as she looked at the new chip they got. And a dangerous chip that's as dangerous for our enemies as it is for fuzzy ass over there. Think I saw a couple scars on it when you two were getting "intimate" at Yoka... She commented again with a hearty chuckle. ANYWAYS! Thanks Prose. And...don't be afraid to let me fend for myself if the need arises. Jazz spoke up, breaking up Stephine's thoughts briefly. Anyways, if this is zenny, want a cut? I won't mind. You probably could use a an "extra bonus" once we're done here. He continued, raising his eyebrows playfully as he began to unlock the untrapped PMD.

(Opening PMD)
The dense data crystal took a lot longer to unpack itself that others of its type that Jazz had encountered previously; layer after layer unfolded in geometric patterns until it finally divulged a coalesced seed of chip data. As the threads of it filtered up to Jazz, there was something unexpectedly comforting about it – something green and growing, amidst the cold NAXA Space. Also something dangerous and explosive, so, in many ways the data spoke to him on multiple levels. Across form him, Prose giggled, then winked.

“Nah, you earned it. If you really want, you can give me a different kind of bonus later instead... We can argue about who's rewarding who in between.” Still smirking, she ran her tongue over one pointed fang tooth and turned her back to him, mincing slightly and flicking her tail as she stepped to the edge of the ledge. She glanced back over her shoulder. “At least... if you're mouth isn't too busy, that is...” With another laugh she sprang forward again, picking her way in small hops across the destroyed, floating space debris until she made her way to the far side and regained the actual glass walkway tunnel. Unless Jazz was already right on her tail, she waited just past the broken edge of the solid ground for him to follow along. With her back to him, Jazz could see that, once again, now that the danger was passed, the spectral wings had reduced back to tiny points of red light, about where the stylised thread-work was on the back of her chest band.

Leading onward, the pair were able to continue down the corridor unhindered for now, and Prose seemed to have more spring in her step than before – odd as it was, the battle itself seemed to have perked her up from her serious worries substantially. It was only a short while after they got moving again that she glanced up at him.

“Hey, sorry about springing that on you, with the binding ring and all. I was worried you were going to freak out for a bit there. I'm glad you stayed with me,” There was something in her side-long gaze that seemed to tell Jazz she didn't just mean psychically, but she pressed on without lingering. “Just... how much more do you remember, Jazz? Don't try if it's causing you trouble, but... Some of this might be rough if you're not square with it. Back up top, it sounded like there wasn't much, but...” Her eyes played over his form, up and down. “If there's more, and it's bad, let me know, okay? I don't want... Well...” she shrugged and then leaned in to nudge him with her shoulder and nuzzle at him, though without jumping up it meant her cheek and nose were mostly rubbing against his waist. “Ah, you'll be fine. I know you will.”

There was some time to chat as they continued – room enough for Jazz to ask the diminutive woman any other questions he had, and hopefully get whatever answers she could give him, but before too much longer, the tunnel finally entered into another large section of asteroid, cutting them off from the outside space view. Here, the lighting became clearer, and the panelling on the walls better maintained. It began to seem like a more truly active facility of some sort. The pathways they walked took on a more modernised and professional look; clear white walls, smooth, rounded edges, overhead lighting and many more signs indicating things in various directions, all using that same, distantly familiar, archaic script. They turned a couple of times, before Prose was leading him rapidly up a long flight of stairs, to what looked like a grand circular ring path. One on side, the wall cam up to waist height, before angling away from the tunnel slightly, as blackened, opaque glass. On the outside edge, the set up was similar, except that it was divided every twenty or thirty feet with reinforcing, and at each divide, a terminal screen and data entry console.

As they crested the top of the sitars, however, Prose went still. Where previously the facility had been quiet, almost silent, not the sounds of enraged creatures shrieking and thrashing, or roaring, stamping and scratching could be heard. It was faint, quiet, but the volume of it made the sense clear all the same.

“No, no, no, no.... what's going on...” She rushed ahead, moving to the first console along the outside of the corridor, hurriedly entering details and taping at the screen. Alongside her, the large pane of opaque glass suddenly lightened to give a view to the other side.

On the inside, Jazz could look down to see a large chamber below; this was some sort of observing window set near the ceiling of the space. Below, the chamber was filled with a volume of liquid magma that made the actual floor depth hard to determine, while a faint spray of some kind of glittery purple substance filtered down from sprinklers in the ceiling. The magma had solidified chunks of black obsidian rock poking up out of it making jagged claimable surfaces, and flat stones that could almost be basking ledges. A cave or two seemed to be set into the corners as well, but one thing that stood out to Jazz's eye were the runic sigils; the chamber was circular, and at the level of the lava, midway up the room, and again near the ceiling, multiple sets of glowing circles ringed the chamber, between each pair of lines, that same naturalised code script ran all the way around, with larger, symbolic glyphs appearing about one every foot. The code itself circled slowly.

In the chamber, a shape moved about, thrashing wildly; It was massive enough to be several times Jazz's size, and seemed to be composed almost entirely of liquid magma. There wasn't much of a discernible body shape, save that part way up the column of its form, something resembling a mouth opened and closed ever time it roared. And roar it did, as it threw itself around the chamber, smashing itself against the exterior walls in a frenzy. Every time it struck the walls, the glyphs flared up brightly. A glance across at Prose showed her looked on with a borderline distraught expression.

“No, no-no, what's wrong..? Why are you angry? What's doing this?” With hurried motions, she tapped at the console; it seemed to request further credentials which she typed in in a blur, before the soft purple mist increased with a rushing sound, to a dense snow fall. As it settled down the lava and the creature below, it calmed gradually, then settled into a more content circling of its magma enclosure. After a few seconds it splurged out onto one of the flat rocks, revealing its form to be little more than an amorphous blob, and yawned in a way that made its mouth gape to cover two thirds of its body. It relaxed and seemed to be watching the lava bubble. Prose looked back to Jazz, distress more clear in her eyes.

“This isn't right. I swear, this is all set up to keep them all happy and content, if they're aware, or completely out of time if we can't do that. It can't stay on that dose forever, it's not stable... I don't know what's happening, it's not like...” Her head turned to look at the long, curved inside edge of the upper deck, and the opaque black glass there. The she looked back to Jazz, tense. “Oh please no... no no no... not today... I can't... Damnit...” Her fingers clenched and opened a few times in frustration as she looked up and down the hall.

“Jazz... Listen, I need you to check on each of the house guests here in the chaos net observations. It's easy enough, you just have to go to each terminal, tap the screen to wake it up, then select the second button on the left side, the third button on the right side, and confirm it with the left button that pops up on prompt. Just make sure they're all there still, and alive, and that there's been no accidents. Chambers with a dash-x designate on the end are meant to be empty, everything else should have a guest. If any of them look like they're... ah, that won't be easy to tell... just do that much for now. At the end of the ring, you'll come to a command chamber. I'll meet you there, alright? Stay safe, okay? If anything shows up... it shouldn't... but if it does, please stay safe.” She stepped in and hugged him tightly, arms encircling his waist in a fiercely strong grip. “I'm sorry. This is all wrong. I'll see you soon, I promise!” With a last squeeze, she stepped back, gave Jazz one more worried, pleading look, then turned and darted ahead, shooting off down the tunnel at the fastest sprint he'd seen her utilise to date to disappear around the curve in moments.
Jazz gave Prose a playful grin at her as he plucked the seed from the data crystal with a chuckle, the rabbit sending off the seed to Stephine to the collection for the time being as he began to get back up from opening the extremely protected data crystal. The rabbit letting out a content sigh as he looked back over to her, eyebrow raised with a playful grin on his face as he began to bound off towards her, keeping fairly close before landing on the other end with a light skid. We'll see who's mouth is busy when we get to that~ He retorted with a chuckle, Stephine letting out a content sigh in turn, leaning back in her chair as she slowly rotated the two chips between her fingers, eying their appearances very slowly. I wonder...is this just a coincidence...or was this fate? Heh. If grandpa were still here, he'd probably be pissing himself with worry. Dad would probably wonder how the fuck I lucked into one of grandpa's catches from almost fourty years ago...just...gotta keep an eye on Jazz...even if... Stephine idly thought as she watched him bounding along with Prose, continuing to walk along towards where they needed to go.

As she spoke, Jazz had to keep himself from freezing at her words, the hare letting out a deep sigh as he gently pet at her head when she nuzzled up against his waist. He would stay quiet for a moment, letting them walk in silence as he began to think before finally speaking. Honestly? Not sure how much I remember, myself. It's...sorta a blur at the end of the day. Plus, my- Our psyche shattered once our op died...Id, Ego and Super-Ego...I'll tell you more once we're done, suffice to say...I am the Jazz from over thirty years ago...honestly feels closer to forty these days, and at the same time, I'm not the Jazz from back then. It's...complicated. The more I see down here...the more-the more I feel like an outsider to the net as a whole... He spoke, a feeling of guilt gnawing at him for a moment before they began to reach the more maintained areas of where they were at, beginning to climb themselves out and into a place they could finally get a view of the facility, rushing forward alongside Prose as she began, the hare watching out from the pane of glass that became translucent...the chamber down below was less mechanical than what he had expected and...more magical...flashes of the past rushing behind his mind's eyes, unclear and more like a flood of images trying to fry his brain as he continued to look outwards into the chamber...a lava creature thrashing and roaring out, much bigger than he was and seemingly attempting to escape it's confinement from the runes that slowly swirled around it's containment area.

Continuing to watch, his attention quickly turned to the upset, obviously manic Prose as she furiously typed at the console, his attention switching back to the area as the faint purple dust went into overdrive, sending out a variable snowfall upon the area and calming down the creature in the lava...one thing down for the time being, but still...his eyes going back to Prose as she began to speak and then the worry was plain on her face, something, somewhere, had gone wrong and she was dreading it in every way possible. I get it. Don't worry, I'll go through the terminals here while you do what you gotta do. I'll do everything I can to help ya, that's why I'm here in the first place and I'm not about to stop. Get going and get things done, PM me or Stephine if anything comes up as soon as it does and I'll do the same. He spoke in response, giving her a firm nod as he squeezed her hand in return. Don't worry about me. But...if I do change while I'm down here...if my personality changes at all...I will do everything I can to keep it under control. I will not lay a god damn hand on you...I feel his presence even here and I may lose myself if he keeps prodding at me. Now go, get this done so we can have a good time up above here, out of the chaos nets...and out of his hands. He continued, a firm determination in his eyes as he let her go. Jazz...I... Stephine began as she watched Prose go deal with what needed dealt with. Save it till we're done, Stephine. And get ready to operate me for anything...even me... Jazz cut her off as quickly as he could, the navi immediately bounding off towards the terminals before he could finish his own thought, the feeling of himself slowly slipping as he did. The invisible hands from the Undernet beginning to wrap around his neck as he began his task, immediately starting with the nearest one to him and hoping nothing happened while he was here.

Yer a real bleedin heart. Touches me soul it does...if I had one. A dark voice spoke to him, firm and hateful. The hare rolling his eyes at the voice's tone as he continued along his task. Oh great. You're back. Looking to take control of my body so you can shake some infants to death in their crib? Jazz responded internally, a sarcastic tone in response, hands still moving deftly at the control panels he could reach to try and speed his job up so he could help Prose. You misunderstood my intentions, my superego. I just wanted what was best for us! It responded in return, in a fake-hurtful tone. Best for us!? You out and out DELETED over 100 navis, not including ICP and Netmafia agents, which would bring us up to over DOUBLE THAT! And that's not even getting into everything that happened once "Jazz the Crimson" began spreading about! "The Abominable Snow Hare"! "Jazz the -FUCKING- Reaper"! Or do I need to bring up the dozen ICP navis you fucking ripped the cores out of and ATE before we were sealed away!? We deserved what happened to us despite your mental gymnastics on the subject! Jazz responded incredulously, outright furious at the other's words. Thankfully for Jazz, the voice didn't speak up again, much to the hare's relief as he began to focus back on the task at hand, making sure the programs and navis inside each inhabited chamber, letting out a long sigh as he decompressed from the internal struggle he was fighting out.
It was clear Prose was listening to Jazz's answers and conversation as they progressed, but events soon overtook the quiet moment and didn't give her a chance to really respond to him yet, beyond a reassuring side glance as they went. She nodded to his communication plans, but the panic that was driving her at this point didn't let the bunny girl stay around any longer, even if she was clearly concerned for Jazz's own struggles. By the time they separated, and Jazz was left alone to his thoughts, they weren't the best company, all things considered.

The sense of forgotten familiarity wouldn't go, and even as he tried to do the work Prose had asked, threads of frustration, building to anger were beginning to work their way through him. Even when the presence from his past went silent, the bubbling anger remained, slowly swelling.

When he interacted with the first console, it lit up with the same indecipherable text he'd been seeing elsewhere; a series of four touch points layered themselves on either side of the screen, which showed a small diagnostic icon in the centre. It was a sphere, with three rings encircling it, similar to the last cell, and if he pressed the button sequence Prose had given him, it resulted in the black glass in front o f him lighting up and showing the chamber below. This room bore the same set of paired binding rings around the edges, each holding lines of code and the odd glyphs evenly spaced along. The chamber itself was barren, save for what looked like the shattered remains of shaped stone near the centre, surrounded by what looked like burned out circles in the centre of the floor. The creature that was inside looked like some kind of many-legged stone golem; it was blocky in form, but still sleek, and more than a dozen legs sprouted from its central square mass. The body had a single large eyeball that twitched and rolled, but no to her notable features. As Jazz looked on, the creature scuttled to one corner, legs moving in precise, twitching jerks, before it crouched and flung itself with alarming speed and force up at one corner of the chamber. The Core of its body struck the wall first, before its legs caught up and latched on like a grapnel. A moment later, the whole creature flared with red light and the room was filled with the roar of an explosion that Jazz felt vibrate through the floor.

The smoke cleared quickly, and the creature fell to the ground, blackened and smoking, but after only a moment its legs unfolded and it picked itself up, shaking the soot off and returning to its previous state. Then, the eyeball flicked up to the now transparent glass and Jazz could see it widen, then narrow with a bloodshot, bulging fury. In a flash, it gathered and launched again, and Jazz felt the impact of it striking to glass right in front of him, eye pressed to the surface, glaring at him. For a moment, Jazz could feel a sense of its unbridled, restrained fury before it flashed again and the view was once more engulfed in a roaring explosion. The glass shuddered, but held – as the smoke cleared and the creature dropped away again, smoking, he could see the strong glow of the binding rings still pulsing.

The next chamber was listed as CN416-X, and as Jazz checked the screen, it was indeed empty; a flat stone plinth occupied the centre of the barren chamber, and the rings set into the ground, and around the walls were dull and inactive.

The next held a proper habitat again; a mostly spherical room that seemed to have a continuous wind current circling about inside it, with a scattering of different sized protrusions and perches dotted around at various angles. Most of them were made to look like radio towers and lightning rods, or other high-tech pieces of equipment. One creature was in the chamber, flying about rapidly; it looked like a circular metallic shape, like the inner axle of a wheel, but the edges were ringed with high-tech, mechanical-looking wings, six on one rim, facing one way, and six on the bottom rim facing the other. The inner section of the rim was a line of eyes that glowed a wild electric blue as it jolted from support to support. From the centre of the axle, four arms, two on each side, remained folded up while it was flying, but lashed out to grab on whenever it came to light on a perch. Much of the chamber had been trashed badly, with many supports torn and broken, but the damage looked recent – very recent. The creature battered and ripped apart another of its toys as Jazz looked in.

One it went; several of the chambers were empty, but most had occupants. Half way through, Jazz found himself looking in on a smaller room than many of the others. This one contained plain white walls and the rings encircling the chamber had been doubled up, making six sets. In the centre of the chamber, a row of four stone plinths stood in a line, and on each one of them the intricately detailed stone figure of a navigator; the first one was male, dressed in armour that bore reversed hook-spikes all across its surfaces. A sword was at his hip while his left hand seemed to be a large clawed gauntlet. The second statue was female, dressed in what looked like military fatigues and an old-style war time gas mask. Behind her, a series of five long, apparently fluffy tails spread out. The third was what looked like a small female child, wearing a short, childish dress that only came to her mid thigh, with wide shoulder straps. Her hair was long and straight, and went down all the way to her knees and she bore no obvious weapons. The fourth statue was again male, bare-chested and scarred, with what looked like weaponised metal implants set into his chest in a star pattern. His hands ended in bandaged stumps and one eyes was clearly destroyed in a large scar that covered half of his face. All four of the statues bore slight variations on the same emblem; the unifying details were a pattern of seven stars surrounding a skull with two more stars for its eyes. He could see several slim, slightly crazed cracks across the statues in various places, like slowly creeping spiderwebs. As he looked in and watched them, a hairline crack on the small girl's arm shuddered and crept further, reaching almost to her shoulder. The glyphs and code rings in this room were glowing constantly, as though they were under continuous pressure of some sort.

Onward, another; the sense of frustration and the threads of rage continued to build in the back of Jazz's awareness. The next was empty, and the next, but the one after held what looked like a massive virus, made of heavy metal and black iron, with spikes wherever they could fit. It had a vaguely humanoid upper torso, but six arms, each of which had materialised broad-forte jagged swords. Its lower body was comprised of a rolling metal ball instead of legs, increasing the creature's mechanical, machine look. As Jazz looked in on this one, the virus entity was raking repeatedly, first with one trio of arms, then the other, at one specific point on the binding ring halfway up the chamber walls; he could see deep gouged in the metal work of the chamber itself, and spark flew with each trio of strikes as the virus worked itself into a lathered fury against the ring; it held for now, but similar to the chamber with the navi statues, this one was glowing constantly under the pressure.

If Jazz managed to continue down the line, gradually making his way around the curved corridor in the direction Prose had gone, he found more of each type of situation; creatures to strange or dangerous to be wild, now enraged and struggling to break free of their confinements with roars and screeches of fury; empty cells, awaiting new house guests; and even a few more of the chambers containing nothing but seemingly stone statues of navis, viruses or other unidentifiable entities. When he was most of the way around the circle, with only a few more to go, or so it seemed, a sound of cracking glass cut its way over the other indignant roars and screeches. It was followed by impacts, heavy and hard, then a louder, deeper cracking that continued on with a sound like fingernails down his spine. Before he could take another step forward, his eyes caught it; spiderweb cracks tracing rapidly across the black glass on the cell just ahead of him. With two more thunderous hammers, the glass exploded inwards, spilling over the corridor's floor and a siren began to blare throughout the complex.

Black smoke billowed into the corridor as shapes began to thrust their way out of the opening; long, sinewy limbs, covered in some kind of dark, purplish ichor, with weathered bone showing through in places. The mass of whatever the creature was bulged against the shattered glass, then with a wet roar pulled itself through, landing in the corridor with a heavy thud. Its body steamed and smoked and Jazz could see, in this moment, that whatever it was, it was terribly weakened by its breakout; breath heaved through it, laboured, but it slammed several limbs into the ground and against the walls, pulling its bulk up. Within the central mass, Jazz could make out a humanoid head, of sorts, but with three eye sockets and no space for a nasal cavity. Already meaty sinew was beginning to regenerate over its form as it slowly began to gather its strength; it didn't seem inclined to wait, however, and roared again, beginning to drag its way through the tight space towards Jazz.

Anger flaring up as he continued along with his task. His hands shaking as he watched the containment units in full detail as his task was still on, silent tears dripping onto the consoles and floor as he moved from one to another, his hands doing his job as swiftly as they could in-between watching the containment cells, his body shifting, shaking...quivering as his silent anger, his rage built upon one another, likely his Other Self's doing as he watched behind the hare's eyes as more and more flashes of the past flooded past his mind. He couldn't remember everything clearly, his mind in a haze as he focused on his task at hand, something...no, ANYTHING to mitigate the pain he feels to this day, something to focus on for the worst of the worst contained within the facility continued to destroy, writhe and scream within their cages. He had no idea what was going on around him, even as Stephine tried to question him, his mind was blank save for his assigned task. Mumbling deeply to himself as he tried to make heads or tails of what was going on...but before he could finish...before he could round the bend to finish his task, his mind snapped out of the self-imposed stupor he put himself into, the explosion of glass, the black smoke erupting from the destroyed containment unit as the...creature...aberration slipped from it's unit, gasping for breath, tired and smoking from it's actions as it "stood" in front of Jazz.

Madness Overtakes

The navi's reaction? His hands clenched into fists, his body shuddering and shaking as his rage built and built, even as his puffy red eyes stared at the four limbed creature, as he stared deep into it's three eyes. The only words that slipped from his mouth in that moment? G E T. B A C K. I N. Y O U R. C O N T A I N M E N T. in a low, slow, angry...no, it was past anger. Wrathful was more appropriate. His voice beginning to shake the area around him, heaving deep breaths as the creature stood in front of him, his body seemingly emanating a deep wrathful darkness as it visibly spread from his body, deep crimson eyes staring deeply into the creature's, face...twisting...his body contorting as an image of a behemoth emanating behind him. Deep scars all across the white furred body, dark brown leather gloves forming around Jazz's hands...and deep crimson splotches beginning to show across his body, dried blood, dead data clinging to the matted fur. You...have no right to escape. Get back in...or the reaper will force you back into your cell, bloody and broken. He finally spoke again after a moment, a deep, sadistic grin crossing his face. His teeth turning a sharp, knife-point in his head as they perfectly interescted with one another in diagonal angles, pupils dilated as he had diabolical intentions for the creature that escaped. Stephine. Chips. So I can show this -T H I N G- why you don't escape from your punishment. He spoke, simply...agressively...as he continued to ready himself for battle, barrier and casing slipping around his body immediately as those words exited his mouth, the insanity stricken hare readying himself for the viral creature's attacks. I am going to make an E X A M P L E of you and why escaping your confines is the stupidest thing you can possibly do at this juncture. Jazz spoke again as Stephine began to sort through the folder, good thing the trade went through before this...but still...this wasn't the Jazz she's gotten to know...and Prose needed to know about this. A-Alright...alright...I'm sending chips. T-Try not to delete it, force it into an empty containment if you can, Jazz...please, if not for your sake, then for Prose's. Stephine finally spoke, shaky and afraid for what Jazz has turned into, even if it was a temporary thing...HOPING it was temporary...she slotted the chips into the PET before immediately turning to her PC Keyboard and rapidly beginning to type a message out.

Jazz was quick to make his move in the interim as he even heard Stephine typing furiously in the background as he slipped himself backwards, his feet swiftly making the movement in one fluid motion, body swinging downwards and snapping back upright at an attempt to evade any potential attacks as he began to feel a crackling feeling at his mind. The hare's fingers immediately at the sides of his forehead...as an invading eye began to open up at the same time. Crackling electricity forming across his digits, arcing from them towards the middle of the opened eye, a contrasting sapphire blue to his crimson reds, as he began to channel the weaponized electricity and let loose a familiar blast of energy, attempting to ping the gooey limb the creature had with a beam of energy converging upon the point he had created in the back of his head. Should the blast hit it would immediately attempt to arc onto the other limbs and attempt to weaken them immensely, a ball of energy leaping from designated point to designated point before finally fizzling out in a screech of static.

They forgot my name. They forgot my face. My very existence lost to the sands of time. But...you can be the first to scream my name...if you can even be capable of such a thing. The inmates will scream my name to the stars as I return to punish them for their attempts at escaping. As -I-, Jazz the Reaper, have come to make sure you programs...you all learn that these bars are not to keep you from the public at large...they're to keep you SAFE. FROM. ME. He screamed into the halls, the hare known as Jazz summoning a pair of guns from the ether, long barrels upon each, magazines sticking out from the bottom as each finger were firmly planted on the trigger. LETS SEE YOU PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THIS! He yelled out again, the hare pointing both weapons firmly at the Craven Skull despite the limbs that protruded from it as his arms straightened out, elbows locked into place as the weapons began to open fire upon the creature. His fingers franticly activating the triggers as bullet after bullet existed the weapons, his fingers a blur as the bullets were much the same. Each shot attempting to find purchase within the aberration's skull, or at least seemingly to, as each depress of the triggers went just slightly wide enough to either miss the skull on it's own, or to one of the limbs it fought with, each bullet hitting hard against the surfaces near it as each bullet expertly attempted to ricochet off the floor or walls and back into each of the limbs or even the skull itself. Weapons red hot, quite literally in this case, as the metal began to melt into goop, throwing them to the side in disgust. Meanwhile, Stephine finished

Quote (Stephine to Prose)

Prose, we've got a situation down here. Something called, and I'm going off of my PET here, Craven Skull just broke out of it's containment and it's attacking Jazz. Though it seems to have exhausted itself on the escape, it's reading at 150 HP for itself and the limbs it has. Also...Jazz is acting out of turn...he's...he's not his usual self...or at least, the self we know him as now. I'll work on coding a way to expunge his "true self" for the time being. My grandfather and his navi was part of the team that took down and sealed the original Jazz nearly 40 years ago if what my father and grandfather said are true. I'm going to try and get Jazz to throw Craven into an empty chamber if at all possible from my end, but I don't know if I can keep Jazz from deleting it outright. I'll keep you in the know, but...I'm sorry this had to happen. I really am. We'll try and help where we can with what's going on!

As soon as the message was sent, Jazz prepared for another attack, his body shifting downwards in an attempt to avoid a high attack after his torso and head, springing back to his upright position and moving just a bit more backwards as he began to ready the last chip in his possession for the time being, the eye upon his forehead flaring with a pale light. Within that pale light, the navi summoned an amorphous creature from the depths of the net, the blob oozing ichor and black sludge upon it's summon, the creature creating a bevy of cannons filled to the brim with needle-shaped ammo. Creature of Murkland. Fire. You have chip data, use it. Be my gun of vengeance. The hare spoke, the creature creating a bubbling noise, almost as if it understood. Limbs reaching out from either side of the blob of ichor that it had submerged itself in, the cannons primed and ready as it flung itself with great force and sent a barrage of spiked shots twards the creature in an attempt to harm it, the ichor flying to all about the creature's small area and all over Jazz, who seemed to almost not notice the creature's fluids giving him a light coating.

The moment when Jazz and this new escapee faced each other was broken just as quickly, the creature surging forward as Jazz challenged it. Despite the change in his demeanour, the entity showed no signs of recognition, or indeed of fear or even truly sentience; it exuded instead nothing more pressing that rabid, insane fury as its bulk filled the corridor and the exposed bones rapidly grew over with dark sinew and sludgy flesh.

Even as Jazz shouted his warnings at it and prepared for combat, the central eye in the middle of the beast's skull grew a grey pinpoint of light that lanced out with sudden speed; it shot down the corridor, missing the hare by a hair in a beam seared past with a sense of raw force. Jazz was forced on the defensive for a moment or two as its limbs writhed around it, dragging forward and failing at the same time. One limb, which seemed to smoulder and smoke as its flesh regrew, licked into flickers of purple fire before the tip launched a flamethrower wave of the stuff down the tunnel at Jazz; this one missed him just barely to the other side, but left a trial of cracked and damaged ground behind it.

Above the burning limb, another one whipped about,. Sticking to the ceiling for a moment as it seemed to feed on the overhead lighting and draw crackling electrical energy into itself. It slammed down to the ground again, dragging an arc of purple electricity with it that crashed outward, but once more, mostly arced around the walls and ceiling, and failed to actually pin-point Jazz; the creature still seemed to be recovering from its escape even as it assaulted him, and for now its aim was proving poor.

Jazz responded with a synaptic attack of his own; it arced back at his target just as it lifted one of its other limbs across its form. This one seemed to have less bone and muscle than the others and dripped with purple slime, and as the bolt of electricity struck it, it thrashed and convulsed in a mad frenzy before crumpling in on itself and shrivelling away. The bolt arced inwards past it, and though one of the chain jumps seemed to deflect and ground itself against the wall of the corridor, the second jump struck into the limb with the flickers of purple flame. This time, the effect wasn't' quite as pronounced, but it still looked badly damaged by the attack.

With a second wet roar of fury, the main head of the creature surged forward from between the limbs, and the central eye glowed again with another grey beam of light that shot towards Jazz. It was more accurate this time, and the hare had to dodge out of the way, avoiding it at the last moment.

While Stephine had to deal with the enraged Jazz ranting at the insensate monster before him, she got an urgent message back; at first, her PET stated to react as though it was being hacked, or assaulted by some kind of attack, but the warning messages were rapidly overcome and dismissed without any seeming damage, before the message showed up.

Quote

“I understand. I'm sorry. I'm busy with taking care of a problem here, but please try to keep Jazz safe. I've read the files on Jazz. I know what happened, I just didn't want to bring it up. He's not that being now. He isn't. He's not even meant to be out, but... but whatever Jazz thinks he is right now, he's not, not completely. There's no real way he could destroy that program, I'm more worried about him. But if it's weak, he might be able to subdue it long enough for the emergency systems to reseal it. Get it back in its chamber, if you can, or any empty one. One with a -X designate. Then on the console, top left button, then the button second from the top on the left, then the top left again, then confirm with the left button in the centre that pops up. It'll ask for authorisation. Input “CBCE#04-CBN/SpReSh-PROSOPOPOEIA:DanceS1ngFlyL0veL1ve” I'm in the facility, so that'll be enough for it to accept it, but unless your PET has an internal projection system – I doubt it – you'll need Jazz to do the interaction, so you need to try to keep him here, in the moment, and I don't mean psychically. Try to keep hold of the Jazz you know, any way you can. I can't leave this, I just can't, not now, I'm so sorry. Please be careful!”

Jazz was unaware of the communications zipping back and forth again as he pulled his next weapon on the creature in front of him while it tried to force him down the corridor. The machine rounds scattered and ricocheted off the corridor walls and seemed to skitter off the black glass without scratching or scuffing them. The hail of bullets rained over the monster, pinging several of the limbs, though one of them seemed to take substantially less impact from the shots that struck it, compared to the others. This one seemed to be growing increasingly more woody and plant-like, with purple vines in place of sinew and dark purple leafy grows unfolding along its twisting length. This one whipped back at Jazz, battering him twice despite his attempts to avoid it; the first blow struck against his barrier, and the second scattered it.

This limb had barely finished striking before the burning one launched another flaming line at Jazz, though again it missed its mark, seemingly being a little bit cautious about hitting its own body parts. As Jack continued to put a little bit of space between himself and the violent mass, his summoned help arrived between them and, presenting its arms from the murk began firing: of the six rounds it fired four of them found solid marks, however, they weren't all the marks the aim had originally intended. Rather, as it fired its main shots at the creature's exposed skull, the woody vine limb shot up and across the path, taking the full raking of shots along itself instead. The individual shots sunk into the limb without dealing as much impact as they should have, though the limb was starting to look at least a bit worn now.

There was no sense of awareness, just animal rage and violence, with occasional flashes of self preservation as it pushed Jazz back down the tunnel in pursuit. More of the damaged tiles cracked underneath it while its many limbs dragged it towards Jazz, regenerating their flesh and bone slowly even now; even the one's that he'd destroyed completely burst out of the body mass, stretching and flexing with wet slaps, though they did both look weaker than before.

Grunting as his barrier was crushed underneath the limb's attacks, his casing managing to remain despite the attacks launched at him, a bubbling hatred continued to come to the surface as it showed no intelligence, no semblence of a soul...Jazz couldn't help but feel disgusted at the creature in front of him. The creature couldn't understand fear, understand the anger that bubbled at Jazz's surface as he made a disgusted face at it. So you really are completely feral...all the better to delete you. Jazz finally uttered under his breath, Stephine listening to him despite this. You don't have the right to do that, Jazz. She spoke, sternly, harshly and straightly at Jazz. It's not your call to make. It's Prose's. And she'd want you to put it in a containment cell after weakening it.

Jazz sneered at the sudden implication, the aura of darkness beginning to receede, albeit slightly, as she spoke. Whoever you are. WHATever you are. You're not my Jazz. You're supposed to be gone...forgotten...and Jazz is not to be your body to control. Release him or I'll force you to release his mind. She spoke pointedly, as she began to type on her PC, chips in hand for the situation at hand. Hahahaa. How fucking cute. You saw through me, who're you really? The other asked, a more frustrated, deep voice beginning to take hold of Jazz, a grin upon his face as he pointed towards the virus, the creature he summoned immediately letting loose a barrage of bullets at the targeted and weakened limbs, attempting to delete one of the quartet before they could make their move. Stepine, however, responded by sending a chip through the PET. How about instead of worrying about that, you worry about your host, creature. We'll talk more if you're still in control. I just know if I jack Jazz out now, he'll be free of your influence for the time being. All I know is your presence is warping his mind, so either keep control or fuck off.

Letting out a hearty laugh at this turn of events, the controller of Jazz turned back towards the virus at hand, a simple metallic sphere with two halves and a seam that was extremely warm to the touch popped up in his hand, gloves beginning to fade in over Jazz's hand and knuckles with metal divots curving along each knuckle. Heahahaahaa! Fine then! Can't let my "host" die now can I?! Lets play your game woman, operate away! He yelled out heartily, almost seemingly having fun at the idea of being operated again. The invading presense flicking the sphere up into the air for a second before letting it land seam side onto his finger, curling his finger and balancing it like a ball as the sphere twirled around. Well then, lets see how much fight you actually put up then, thing. Hmmm...lets see how well you block this... He spoke simply, popping the sphere into the air and catching it midair, calculating his trajectory...and throwing in a wide arc almost as suddenly as he did, the bomb exploding upon impact as azure flames blasted outwards from the impact point, spreading quickly along the area and further outwards than intended, deep markings sizzling across the flooring and walls before quickly fizzling out and leaving little more than massive black marks upon them.

Slotting in another chip, Jazz was quickly given one of his free hands a simple curved shield made out of the same material Methats were made out. The yellow and green appearing in the same areas a conventional methat would show up at as a metal strap curved into the hare's hand, holding the shield outwards as a defensive measure. Ach. Not a bad shield, though it won't hold on for long, what's the plan missie? He spoke, a deep sharo accent leaking into his words as he held the shield out. Try and get in there and weaken the virus. You'll be putting it back into containment for the time being, I have access codes from Prose, but you'll have to go to one of the consoles, Jazz himself knows which cells are empty. Unless you've been looking at which ones through his eyes, which I wouldn't doubt.Bah, easy enough. If that's what my "operator" wants, it's what the "Operator" gets.Alright, then I'm sending some more chips. Hopefully you know how to use them, you old fuck, just try to not delete the virus outright if you can help it.

Giving a nod at this, the Jazz that was fighting for her began with a sweep of his leg, the navi leaving a rather brown trail behind as he did, a bubbling goop clinging to the paneling as he brought his same leg up into the air and crashed it down onto the goopy mess he had created. A massive splash spreading outwards as holes filled and paneling were given a quick makeover, mud spreading like a roiling tide, quickly filling every nook and cranny it could before finally finishing and letting the roiling, bubbling muddy mess roll over his feet and ankles. Feeling strangely content, he continued on, pulling out a bomb-shaped seed, a single leaf attached to a tiny branch atop of the strangely created weapon. Letting a shrug, Jazz's body double reared his arm back behind his arm...only to swing it forwards, back behind him again and gently tossing the bomb towards the virus, as close as he possibly could, before attempting to try and softball the weapon into the wet mud in front of Craven Head's arms. The bomb, hopefully sinking deep into the muddy mess he created, to let forth the power contained deep inside it to destroy all within it's path, spikes of wood exploding across the field to attempt to skewer both limb and skull alike.

Regardless of if his bomb made its mark on the field or not, Jazz's doppelganger quickly made his way across the field, unaffected by the muddy terrain around his feet as he attempted to make his way directly towards the Craven Skull itself, the third eye's pupil shrinking slowly as it began to channel the last bit of chip data as this Jazz continued his way over towards the creature that threatened harm against him and his host. A blast of energy wrapping around his hands as a pair of sleek gauntlets wrapped around, jet black steel gauntlets with intricate paterns and shapes done in a contrasting white-gold color as he finally closed the distance, thrusting his sharp clawed hand in a wide grip, attempting to grapple the creature's head in his single clawed hand, fingers widely splayed to attempt to not delete it should it be weak enough to do so, but not heasitating to begin crushing it's skull between his sharpened fingers should he need to...provided, of course, he managed to make it over and close the distance.

Objects deal their max HP in damage (instead of the chip's damage) if they hit an object/enemy, then break. If they miss, the object just takes the chip's damage. This chip has a variety of uses.

Despite his disdain for the creature writhing in the corridor ahead of him, it didn't give the navigator much time to talk or plan, continuing to surge towards him while its body regrew and reformed. Purple ichor dripped off darkened bone as sinew reformed and its mass seemed to increase. Jazz was forced onto the back foot for a moment while dealing with the situation between himself and his operator; whatever was in control now felt the same threads of rising rage that seemed to be driving the monster in front of him mad as well, but perhaps for this newer and older Jazz, the fury was more familiar. While they argued and came to an arrangement, the skull-like head of the creature pressed forward, parting the other writhing limbs and extending on a bony neck column that was still regrowing its muscles. The central eye glowed again and send another bolt of grey force lancing through the array of other tentacles to strike Jazz squarely; his remaining casing dissipated the blast, though it didn't survive it. Jazz's summoned assistance was quick to lay down covering fire, peppering the oncoming mass with bullets that sunk into its various limbs in quick swathes; most found solid marks, but one shot was left to ricochet off the corridor walls and fly past without connecting – unfortunately it meant that the already weak gooey limb endured long enough to flail outwards and strike Jazz in the chest with a wet impact. The viscous film covered him as the limb thrashed past, clinging to his body and remaining in heavy blobs that would slow his movement before long.

It wasn't enough to stop Jazz from retaliating with a forceful blast of his own, however, sending the blue-fire bomb into the midst of his opponent where it detonated with fervour. The woody, vine-like limb shot up ,trying to cover the main head from the blast, but it was seared away to nothing in an instant, and couldn't prevent the skull itself from taking a solid lick of the flames; an echoing shriek of pain an danger resounded down the hall as the shock made the whole entity convulse. In the immediate reaction, though, it seemed as though the flinch let it pull most of its limbs away from the erratic fire, and only the head itself and that one other tendril took the hit.

The burning limb in particular, pulled back, then raked forward again, exuding another blast of purple fire towards Jazz and his construct. Jazz had just received a new shield, but didn't need it yet; the gout missed him entirely, though the needler wasn't as lucky and took a bad scorch as the floor of the hall cracked further.

The next thing that happened was the whole corridor getting a lot messier as a mud field took hold and replaced the solid ground with a slippery mire; Jazz followed it up with an attack that could feed off the new substance, but as he set it off, the sparking, electric tentacle stabbed in and down at him from one side, trying to skewer him unexpectedly; it wasn't quick enough and Jazz's shield met the attack, deflecting it before sending back a blast of energy that seared the tentacle off the greater body mass with a rancid smell of charring meat and rot.

A moment later his woody bomb exploded outward in every direction, driving wooden stakes up and outward at angles as the mud fuelled it. The gooey limb got pinned to the wall and tore free, leaving a stump that sprayed purple fluid for a moment before sealing over and slowly beginning to regenerate, but even though one of the spine came for the head of the creature, a shell of pale grey bone encircled it, guarding the skull from external harm; it held against the attack, though it seemed solid and rigid; something with enough breaking force could probably crush through it easily enough.

With only one flailing limb still functioning for the moment, and the other still regrowing, the flame-wreathed appendage attempted to sear Jazz again, but the navigator was already on the move, darting away from the line of flame that caked some of the remaining mud into cracked terrain again and failed this time to hit his needle turret as well.

Jazz, or whoever was piloting Jazz for the time being, moved quickly, darting intothe reeking, fleshy mass of purple muscle and slime, until he reached the three-socketed skull head directly. The bony shell that was guarding it was easy enough to get his new gauntlets on, but as he tugged, he heard the creature hissing and howling from within its guard, and felt its strength as it pulled back against him. The whole body thrashed, making the hare's footing uneven, but even as he attempted to crush through the guard, his gauntlets alone didn't seem to have the force needed and he remained in a stale-mated tug of war trying to wrestle with the creature's skull while its neck thrashed back and forth, seeking to pull away from his grip. All around him now, the destroyed limbs were reforming and pushing their way out of the mass, all trained determinedly on Jazz himself with the obvious intention of dislodging this pesky threat.

- The Head seems to be able to guard itself from attacks, rather than attacking.
- The Flame limb creates a line attack, which makes the beast cautious about using it where it might hit itself.
- The Vine limb seems very resilient to all damage with the exception of fire damage, to which it is highly vulnerable; this limb actively defends the head when it isn't attacking.
- The Gooey Limb leaves a wet slimy mass on things it hits, causing slow.
His gauntlets clashed against the virus' body, though his seed and the gauntlets did a good portion of damage, the head was still alive and worse than that, its arms were fully reformed for the time being and they were ready to rip him apart whilst his movements slowed from the gooey film that clung to him whilst heavy rivulets fell to the ground with every movement. He was unfortunately stuck between a rock and a hard place for the time being and worse yet, had a quartet of weakened tentacles trained right on him and ready to strike in any manner of ways.

This...certainly is a fine predicament I've found myself in after nearly forty years of sleeping and being vaguely aware of the net around me. The navi dryly spoke as he immediately withdrew his claw from the defending creature, clacking noises sounding with every movement he made, his head turned to the turret his arguable better third summoned earlier. No, I'd wind up getting hit if it fired now, gotta hold off for a moment. Lass! Got an idea of how to get outta this? He murmured for a moment before looking upwards and shouting, Stephine looking through her folder for a moment before plucking a chip and slotting it in without a second thought. This grants some movement and attack capability, so this should be good enough, despite your sticky state.

Chip downloaded and absorbed by his core, Jazz immediately did an about face to the virus for the time being, his form beginning to seemingly convulse and shake all across the soft mud beneath his feet. Body letting out a light "hum" as he brought one foot in front of the other, seemingly beginning to walk away from the virus...before bringing his clawed arms to the front of his body, much like a plow with the points of his gauntlets outwards, before letting a flash of movement and barreling through whatever limbs attempted to stop his movement forwards, back towards the side of the goopy turret he had summoned in an attempt to get some space from the virus amalgamation in front of him and let his turret get ready to attack.

Alight! Get ready to obliterate them tentacles, creature of Murkland! Yer gonna do yer kin proud! Jazz yelled triumphantly before being stopped from giving his order. Hold on, you old fuck. Those things keep blocking, plus that wood limb will block it's shots most likely! Let me send another chip at least to clear it out. Stephine interjected, the old rabbit immediately pondering the idea, scratching his chin with his clawed hand for a moment. Fine. Be quick about it, lass. He spoke finally, as Stephine let out a sigh, slotting in the chip she had grabbed a moment ago.

Downloaded and data ready to go, the current Jazz cracked his knuckles through the claws he wore for a second before smashing his fist on the ground in front of him. For a couple seconds nothing happened besides a slight rumble beneath them, nothing...until pillars of azure flame erupted out from the virus' position, the hot flames erupting in the paleish blue as screams from the deepest parts of the network echoed around them for a moment, targeting the wooded limb and whatever was still around it for the time being, additional pillars sprouting to try and catch the limbs besides it's primary target in the heated pillars, the eye's iris atop his forehead pulsating wildly during the attempted carnage against the viral abomination. Aaaaahahaahahahaha! Yes! YES! You got the right ideas here, lassie! No wonder he enjoys yer company so much! I'm gunna fit in wit ya so well! The hare cackled wildly as he threw his arms outwards. FIRE! He called out, the turret whirring to life before beginning to spin about in place, goo sputtering about as it sent out another sextet of shots towards the designated targets, attempting to strike them square in their bodies.

I gotta hurry up and get this code done to expunge the demon infesting Jazz's mind...even if it's only partially...come on there has to be something here Stephine mumbled to herself as she let the Jazz in control continue along his destructive path. The Jazz in control beginning to shake away the goop that clung to him despite all this, but still feeling heavy in his joints as he began to hop about in place for this reason, his torso immediately dipping backwards and to the side as he felt the presense or saw the sight of an attack honing in on him as an attempt on his life despite all this. And with it, another reckless charge towards the Craven head as soon as his torso snapped back into place, feet quick to move forwards to charge into the fray, gauntlets scraping across the ground and sending up mud, dirt and scraping across broken and cracked panels as he made one last charge into the virus.

Arms hanging back, the gauntlets took on a slight glow, heavier and heavier they became as the claws points dulled into more bullet points than anything. Flexing his fingers within them and grinning madly as he closed the gap and closed both of his gauntleted hands into fists, he brought them up and closed his fingers into dual points, aimed directly into the Craven Head's body. TIME'S UP, YOU ABOMINATION! He yelled at the creature without a second thought, a piece of the Jazz Stephine knew screaming out. His fingers moving into a single point, middle finger just above and in front of everything as he thrust the gauntleted fingers directly into the middle of the writhing mass' body, attempting to crush through it's defenses with one hand, whilst the other thrust in forwards, pointed fingers attempting to claw through the creature's insides as he brought his other arm outwards from the impact point, an attempt to finish the fight so he could finally either put it out of everyone's misery...or at least subdue it long enough to throw back into containment.
