Two cyan beams of light warp down, stopping at the floor. The beams then twist and move, forming two figures; one more angular than the other. The light fades, revealing Machman and Aera. Machman looks around, noticing the fairly plain terrain features and the group of Navis a few feet away. Machman and Aera approach the group, Aera is the first to speak up.

Hello! I'm Aera! You all here for that test?
I'm Machman, nice to meet you all. Any ideas as to what we are doing?
As the five navis became aware of each other and wondered about what kind of experiment this would be, a clear automated female voice sounded overhead.

"Hello and welcome. You have all been selected to participate in a simulation of a new firewall program developed by Science Laboratories," a small musical tune interrupted the announcement, "We ask that all participants please abide by the confidentiality wavers signed upon joining this experiment and we hope that your efforts will help us in advancing our research in this new digital age. We would also like to remind the network operators that there will be no smoking inside your booths during this test. Thank you."

The navis all stared at each other in an awkward silence until a countdown started.

A significantly more intimidating masculine voice boomed over the announcement system, "INITIATING IN THREE. TWO. ONE."

The silence resumed. Everyone was on edge wondering what exactly would happen until a foot emerged from the large obelisk in the room. As the rest of the body came into view, everyone could clearly see that it was a copy of Summonerman. The clone's costume was tinted a much darker shade of purple but his features were identical. At the same time, more clones stepped out from the mirrored surfaces. Soon, each navi had a dark counterpart staring at them with a blank expression.

Suddenly and without warning, the clones charged straight into their opposites! This was serious!

((Kinda tired...the RP quality will go down as you go down >__>))

"Voulge, prepare your weapon!"

"Roger!"

Voulge ran towards his clone with his Lancea, holding the weapon into the position of a spear. Strangely, Voulge didn't transform his weapon into a different shape, but kept it the Lancea in it's original form. With the clone coming close, Voulge pushed the end of the spear with his right arm and thrusted the lance straight towards the clone.

He stepped back and held his weapon tightly. From seeing how the clone reacted from his attack, Voulge measured the power and equality of the clone. "Interesting...The structure and the power is nearly the same as mine. Or, I misinterpret it by a long shot.". Marius didn't look so concern about the situation and gave off a little yawn, "That clone can't compare with you, it's just a petty imitation." Voulge spun the Lancea around him and pointed it towards the xVoulge.

"I'll defeat him with my own power. Please do not interfere with this battle."

With determination deep in his mind, Voulge gripped his weapon tightly. In a flash, earthly round shields appeared from the ground and created a line of shield right between Voulge and it's clone. Hoping that it would nullify an attack, it would give Voulge some time to plan his attack. The Lancea flashed and in hand was a giant trident with a metal net. He aimed the trident towards the right arm of the clone and threw it towards it with impossible speed, while throwing the metal net right after.

Certainly, if the attack was effective, it would've pinned the xVoulge down into a extremely vulnerable state. With that in mind, Voulge prepared his Jousting lance and rushed to the clone with all his might. As soon after the lance made "contact", Voulge turned 180* and started to stab multiply with his War Scythe.

Machman looks back at his alter ego, its armor shining bright orange while its under armor is a cobalt blue, same for its hair. Its dark green face and orange eyes stare at Mach, almost saying "Wanna race, punk?"

Aera! Lets take this guy out of commission!
Sure, he's giving me the creeps.

Machman pulls up his buster and fires a quick HeatShot blast before boosting off to the right, Aera in tow. Expecting the copy to give chase, Machman releases a small circular bomb that clinks over the ground and quickly rolls a few dozen feet before exploding and showering the area in shrapnel. Machman then turns in the air, still continuing backwards with the help of his boosters. He points his right arm towards the duplicate Machman; it begins to change with mechanically precise movement. The arm itself expands, the surface of his arm plating separating and creating large gaps. The gaps are quickly filled by rapidly appearing solid plates before locking together in place with a metallic clanking and scraping accompanied by the occasional spark. In the end of the transformation, Mach's arm has nearly tripled in size; even his fingers are much larger than before. The entire arm then flashes and turns a deep yellow color with dark outlines for the joints and fingers.

Mach pulls back his massive GutFist into a ready to punch position, waiting for the copy to make a move.

Failureman quickly got over the surprise of coming face to face with himself, again, but matched step for step by his copy he could hardly avoid the oncoming balls of energy much less launch a counter offensive. Failureman tried to recount what he knew.

"I am in a large field. There are four... no, five... no. Four other navis with me. Five counting me. The lady said 'firewall'. Five purple navis appeared. Everyone is chasing each other. The guy chasing me looks just like me. He has the same bandages, the same belt, and the same emblem. But he's purp-"

Failureman stopped a moment to think just as a charged buster shot flew past his arm. Another step and it might have been a direct hit.

Albert spoke overhead, "What are you doing! I sent you a chip!"

"I'm profiling what I kn-"

"You don't have time to make a profile! Shoot him! Shoot him in the head!"

Noticing the cannon data, Failureman starting running in his zig-zag across the field again but kept his eyes on his copy. Failureman readied his buster and fired a few shots of his own. Satisfied with his aim, he loaded the chip data and let loose with all he had.

"Toni Toni Toni SHIT'S HAPPENING!"

As the copies of the assembled Navis, including herself, stepped out of the mirrored wall, the real Beatnik took a couple of strides backward. It almost equalled edging away from the weird pseudo-Beatnik. Its colours were all wrong...what the hell was up with all that purple? It looked like cra--

One instant, the fake Beatnik was standing there, looking grim. The next, it was blasting straight toward the real Beatnik.

"SHIT!" She screeched. Beatnik panicked and kicked off, intent on getting as far away from the pseudo-Beatnik. Antoinette got a chip down to her. Shotgun. Figured. Beatnik looked back over her shoulder and saw the rest of the test subjects engaging their counterparts.

If only she still had the power she'd once beat the snot out of people with in the NetMafia. Beatnik actually would have been able to defend herself. It probably would have been a damn good fight, too.

"How strong you think this creep is?" Beatnik yelled up.

"Perhaps if you started fighting it instead of running away we could find out." Beatnik heard the quiet click of another chip being slid into the PET's port. "Also, I doubt that your allies are going to be very pleased with you bailing out on them."

The Navi hissed through her teeth. Toni had to stop making sense so often. On her next stride, Beatnik pushed off extra hard for the bonus momentum, spun in the air, and unloaded the Shotgun into her clone's face. There was another chip waiting -- the Cannon; after dropping that in a screaming blast of hot plasma, a third chip popped up in her systems. This one was the Rageclaw.

Still zipping along backwards, Beatnik slammed on the brakes. This constituted little more than dropping into a deep crouch and throwing her entire field back under her heels. But it worked; within a few yards, she had stopped almost dead. By that time, the taloned gauntlet of metal had fused itself into place over Beatnik's right hand. She dropped her head and kicked off as hard as she possibly could. It took a lot of effort to get her moving again, this time toward her doppleganger, because her momentum was still going in the previous direction. The delay in getting up to speed gave Beatnik time to haul back her arm and, with a roar, swing the tearing Rageclaw at the copy's midsection.

The battle raged on with each side looking fairly evenly matched. The soulless navis focussed only on their counterparts and attacked relentlessly.

Voulge and his copy locked weapons and exchanged blows with equal strength, filling the arena with the sounds of clashing metal. Every blow the navi threw at his copy was parried away while equally powerful incoming attacks brutally smashed away his floating shields. In a stroke of misfortune, one of the copy's jabs managed to penetrate Voulge's defence allowing it to claim first blood, if only with a scratch.

The two Machmen raced around the battlefield at top speed trying to best one another. After Aera joined the battle, yet another shadowy figure stepped out from the wall. The new combatant's slender frame mirrored Aera's in every way except for the gloomy colour scheme. Her neck craned up mechanically to her counterpart and she dashed off to assist her Machman. The real Machman had meanwhile prepared a Heatshot and fired it to slow down his opponent. The duplicate managed to dodge out of the way but the fake support program that just caught up didn't seem to notice the shot in time and was incinerated by the blast; and as quickly as she appeared, she was gone. A Lilbomb was lobbed, but in a burst of speed, the copy activated a Dash and rushed through the rolling explosions unscathed. The boost also brought the two Machmen within close proximity to one another. The copy raised its arm and slashed with what appeared to be a Rageclaw and prepared to attack again, but was blocked by an oversized fist. Vicious retaliation followed as Machmen suckerpunched his copy with a Counter, sending him sprawling out of control and crashing to the ground. The copy strained to get up while a wave of healing energy washed over his broken body. He stared up at the original and prepared to continue.

Failureman and his counterpart both fired several shots at close range, but managed to miss each other horribly. However, Failureman's stray Cannon shot somehow struck Voulge's clone in the back of the head, interrupting whatever he was doing.

A quick Shotgun blast caught Beatnik's clone off guard but it maintained its speed, ignoring the damage. The copy's hand flashed into a claw and it grabbed Beatnik's buster before she fired her Cannon, which sent the shot flying harmlessly off into the distance. The floating metal plates between the two grinded against each other like gears turning in opposite directions. The clone applied more pressure to its grip and nearly crushed the navi's wrist until she activated her own Rageclaw. She swiped once and missed, but shook off her attacker. It flexed its claw with mechanical dexterity as it stared at Beatnik. The clone's face showed no sign of emotion whatsoever, its pupils locked solidly on her movements.

Summonerman stalled for a moment and stopped moving. His copy evaporated mid-run as the original EJOed due to a connection problem.

Only 4 navis remained.

Both Voulge and Marius was getting a bit frustrated over the fight between the clone of Voulge. Not only was he unable to land a hit, he was actually tad more powerful than he was. If he was to overcome his opponent, he needed someone else to help. Just before Voulge was about to make his move, a mediocre explosion landed on xVoulge's head, making him shudder for a minute.

"Nice shot!"

"Much appreciated..."

Taking the chance given by Failureman, Marius quickly sent two Guard1 chips. "NOW! USE BOTH AT ONCE!" His word triggered Voulge into lifting both his arms up and creating two silver shields. Again, Voulge tried to create some time and space away from the clone, so he could use his ace card.

The navi slid his trusty weapon out, the Avaria Lancea, and pointed the spear end towards the clone. With a flashing light, it covered both the weapon and Voulge and shape shifted. The lance now became a gigantic gunlance, one that looks unrefined yet looks powerful at the same time, and Voulge was covered in a special red scale armor, looking very heavy and durable with a very strange glove covering his hands.

"Here we go"

Voulge took the gunlance handle with his right and pulled the engine string with his left. With a powerful tug, Voulge was able to start the gunlance in one try. The reeving of the engine was loud and inconsistent, it was blazing out embers from the barrel and started to vent out small stream of smoke. Voulge tightened the grip of the weapon and pulled the trigger once. Nothing happened except that it made the engine sound stronger and more ember and smokes were coming out.

"Oh boy, here it comes!"

With one more pull of the trigger, the gunlance was rumbling to the point where it looked as if it was going to fall apart any second. Rather than embers, the barrel started to send out chunks of fires and the smokes kept on coming. The lance started to steam off any type of liquid around it and started to glow orange. Voulge lifted the weapon up and faced the barrel straight at xVoulge.

"You're a very worth opponent...but I need to help those people out."

In a blink of an eye, Voulge switched his aim towards the nearest clone other than xVoulge. He fired the first round, which almost sent Voulge into the air if it wasn't for the heavy armor. He turned again to the second target and fired another bullet. Voulge turned once more and fired the last round at the clone.

Failureman's cannon blast missed the mark but luckily tagged the Voulge clone in the back of the head so it wasn't a complete waste.

"Er, nice shot," said Albert. "I'm sending you shotgun so you can try again. And also rageclaw. You're going to have to get close for that one."

Failureman felt the chip data coming in and nodded. Buffering both of them, he ran as fast as he could towards his target trying to get the element of surprise. Up until now he had be keeping his distance but with no place to hide in the vast green field, he thought he may as well get up close! Three-quarters of the way there, Failureman stopped and leveled his buster. Between the heaving of his chest and tenseness of his muscles it was hard to stay still but he fired the shotgun anyways nearly knocking himself over.

Continuing his chase, Failureman finally caught up with his copy and readied the rageclaw. As he neared, Failureman couldn't slow down his legs and had to brace for impact as he careened toward the purple clone.

Actions:
1. Shotgun: xFailureman (50 dmg)
2. Rageclaw: xFailureman (40 dmg + Slashing)
3. Body Check: xFailureman (1 dmg)
Fast! When the hell had this thing gotten so fast? And so friggin' tough -- the copy shrugged off the Shotgun blast as if it were nothing, dodged the Cannon entirely, and wrenched the real Beatnik's arm aside with her own Rageclaw. Beatnik managed to worm back out of the doppleganger's grasp and skated away to a safe distance. Taking her eye off that anti-Beatnik thing for one second would be murder.

"One of your allies has just logged out," Toni informed her. She was way too calm for crap like this.

"Say what?"

"I think he overpinged. But look, his duplicate has disappeared."

Well, at least this stupid crappy idiotic moron experiment wasn't going to stack the odds against them. As if the odds weren't stacked enough as it was!

Antoinette slotted in pretty much the last chip that was available to them. The instant Beatnik busted open its data packet, her Rageclaw began to superheat itself. Rippling mirage waves drifted off the sky-blue metal gauntlet, which was starting to turn a redder colour now as the metal's temperature soared. Beatnik swung the claw up to point straight at her clone. A beam of pure and utter fire blasted away from the palm of the Rageclaw, ready to rip the dopplegangers into slag.

Huh, it even copied Aera; and it seems to have my chips as well.
[It's almost down! Finish it off and help out the other navis! Use of thrust laser approved!]

Mach's four wings move out in front of him and pair up in preparation to unleash two ruby beams of destruction. Aera moves in behind him and passes two recovery programs into Mach before taking a step back to get out of the blast zone. The plasma cores that form start to charge up, retained by the cage of magnetism created by the thrusters. Just as they are about to fire, Mach fires his boot thrusters and boosts off to the right, leaving his charging thrusters behind. With both pairs of wings focused on the copy of Machman, they open up with two large red beams of energy. All of the sounds of the battle raging around them is drowned out by the beams ripping through the air with the roar of a jet engine. The beams of energy finally die down, thinning down to a trail of blowing bits of charred data. Machman, now off to the side of the copy, drops his right shoulder as his boot thrusters kick on at full blast. A sheath of energy forms around his body as he charges forward at full speed. He passes through the copy's position and his now white-hot wings fling themselves back towards him and back into position. They open up as well and only increase Mach's speed.

Mach picks out a heavily bandaged navi fighting with a dark copy. Mach cruises towards them, passing through the FailureMan copy and trying not to strike the real FailureMan. As he passes by, he notices another pair of Navis gripped in combat: both wearing armor and fighting with spears. He makes a wide turn back towards the pair and makes a beeline towards the Voulge copy. Mach then finally slides to a stop and takes a look around to see where he could be of some help.

Voulge's first Guard serves him well as a reflected strike incurs the full penalty back at his copy's attack. The second Guard is not as successful when the another attack punches through the metal shield like paper. He recognizes it, too late, as his Grandis Attero. Voulge takes the time to charge up his Magnum to aid his allies but with nothing left to protect him, his copy transforms his weapon into a war scythe with a chain. Voulge ignores the transformation and insists on focussing on his own attack. The copy strikes fast, delivering several bloody slashes that sap Voulge's strength while adding to its own. However, Voulge still manages to fire off all three shots without problem.

Failureman once again misses his mark with the Shotgun. His copy rushes forward first with a Rageclaw before Failureman activates his. They exchange blows across each other's face in a cross of punches. They both reel back in the same fashion, but while the clone tries to swipe again, Failureman bodychecks his copy back and out of range. The temporary stun is enough for Voulge to get a clean shot with his Magnum. The copy is caught in an explosive burst but wasn't ready to go down just yet. Barely clinging to life, he ripped a bandage of his arm and... Disappeared; apparently deleting itself as it tried to activate his signature attack.

Beatnik's flamethrower engulfs her copy but none of her other intended targets as they were a little out of range. When the flames died down, she recognizes her copy had been charging up her metal plates with a field of blue energy. Despite taking the full damage of the fiery attack, she had been using the flames to cover her actions. Beatnik tried to dash out of the way but she finds it difficult to avoid her own Techno Waltz. The attack connects and she suffers a brutal crushing blow at what is essentially her own hands. Just as her copy is about to deliver a finishing blow, it is blown away from behind by a powerful Magnum explosion.

One of Machman's Thrust Lasers missed, but the other scored a direct hit, sending his doppleganger into critical health. The clone responded by sending a pillar of water splashing towards Machman and Aera. Machman easily dodged but Aera, so busy with her healing duties was caught unaware. Her data was washed away with the torrent of water. Machman rushed forward with a Dash but found his path blocked by a giant stone block. The ground still slick with water, he couldn't stop and slammed into it in a true slapstick manner. At the same time, he could hear an explosion on the other side of the cube as well as the familiar sound of thrusters firing. Whatever was going on, his copy was still alive.

A BRIGHTLY GLOWING RAINBOW SPHERE SUDDENLY SPRANG OUT FROM THE TOP OF THE MIRRORED WALL AND BEGAN TO FLOAT RANDOMLY OVERHEAD.

Aera! You're gonna pay dearly for that.

Machman, separated by his clone by a large stone block, makes his wings float in front of him and points the thrusters to the stone cube. The thrusters start to glow bright cyan and create a high pitched whine as they charged up nearly instantly.

Face deletion!
All four thruster-laden wings fire, launching the stone block towards the copy like a giant hockey puck, leaving a trail of gravel and making an awful crumbling roar as it slid across the ground. Mach notices something glowing above him, and looks up in an attempt to identify it.
Some unknown object appeared from the wall. Suggested action?
[Consider everything except for the other Navis hostile. You have permission to shoot it down!]
Roger that. Engaging!

Machman's right arm swings towards one of the copies, the one wielding the large blade. His right hand transforms into a large yellow box with two metal loops and begins to charge up a small electrical ring. The loops hum from the current and the ring pops as arcs off the loops. Mach aims towards the copy and fires, hoping to slow it down enough for his allies to surround him and take him out.

Mach switches his attention to the floating ball and brings his arm up to his chest. The zapring launcher disintegrates around his hand and re-forms into a blue and orange hilt with a spike-like hand guard over his fingers. Mach swings his arm down to his side as he activates it, seemingly whipping the glowing cyan blade out of the top of the handle. Mach leaps up towards it as hard as he can, blade at the ready. As he approaches the ball, he delivers a horizontal slash; the trail of the blade starting from behind him to nearly straight out in front of his body. With a quick twist of the wrist, he points the finger guard backwards to the glowing ball and swings the sword backwards to its starting position, kind of like a dual saber slash used when striking a soldier on horseback: one to the arm/neck/chest, followed by a quick slash to the back. Machman continues upward and eventually halts in the air as he reaches the apex of his jump. His blade retreats to the rapidly dissolving hilt. Instead of the data being absorbed back into his hand, it congregates in a volatile orb in his right palm.

He starts to fall back to the ground and points downward. He adjusts his wings to guide him closer to the moving ball, and once he gets close enough, he strikes. He thrusts his arm towards the ball, launching a spray of supercooled data in a cone shape downwards towards the orb. Mach continues all the way to the ground, using his boot thrusters to soften his landing.
