The Terraformer and the Knife Fighter

Terra wrapped Sasha in a barrier similar to her own as Trent grabbed the chef to bring him closer into range and cutting him deeply across the chest (70). Before the chef could counterattack, Trent knocked him away and moved safely out of range. The chef barely managed to dodge a dagger being thrown at him just by virtue of the slippery floor but the two Slimeys were hit (30)(30). One of the Slimeys attacked Trent and landed a lucky shot against him, coating him in goo, (15 slow) before Terra deleted it with an ElementalRage (90). The second Slimey wasn't behind the first, keeping it relatively safe as it moved in to attack Terra, slapping her surprisingly resistant barrier (8). Sasha went after the Slimey but slipped along the ice as she leapt, messing up her momentum. Her second bite landed, tearing away a small piece of virus (15). The Arrow went after the FrankenChef and deleted him on contact (100) as Terra changed the table to a uniform steel structure. She sent a weird wave after incapacitated candy bags but only popped one of them with enough force to kill them both in a devastating blow (240). Trent's Boomerang finished off the last Slimey (60) before both navis teamed up against one of the potdragons. Terra landed a trick shot directly into one of the open pots while Trent just dropped a heavy ball into it (55)(80). It still wasn't enough to take down the virus as a deep rumbling growl was heard eminating from inside the pot. The dragons re-emerged from their dormant states, one of them looking signifcantly more pissed than the other. Also, the bubble holding the other Bag 'O Candy expired, releasing the virus.

Trent's movement was slowed but not deterred as the slimey slammed into him. Once the bomb went of and the angry dragon rose from the depths Trent could feel the physical tension in the air, the anger of the virus filling the room. Sasha moved towards Trent, doing his best to both keep his footing on the slippery ground along with stay on the slippery ground because of his shield. The dog showed his teeth but hung back awaiting a command. With his torso to the ground, and one foot before the other, his was ready to spring to the defense of Trent if needed.

The prolonged effects of being hit by the blob were weighing on him, the excess matter that held to his form kept him slowed down. Trent inspected the health values of the remaining viruses, the stronger of the two earth dragons standing out above the rest as being the most dangerous to Terra and too Trent. The candies, although annoying, weren't overly threatening. Mark's voice rang out above Trent's thoughts saying, "Trent which close combat chips do you want? It will be hard to successfully drop all of these guys without taking a hit. I can upload and throw in the guard chip, even though you hate it. Your systems are showing slower processing and reaction speed it might be a good safeguard."

"Aquaknife and the mistconvergence," Trent bluntly responded.

Mark slotted in the chips requested, along with the guard chip. Trent wouldn't get much movement this time around, his main defense. He was going to need some type of coverage against the inevitable return attacks. Trent was less than thrilled to be even holding the guard chip, one that he wished Mark would have pawn or traded off somewhere long ago.

Either way, Trent held his two blades at the ready. Both of the grip had brass knuckle finger grips on the blades, giving him the ability to punch and grasp objects. Trent moved into to a closer range, keeping his body as light as possible and his guard up. As he advanced the began uploading the heavy hitting chip he requested; the mistconvergence. His hand became enveloped in a layer of steaming water and heat, the excess of which trailed of as Trent got close enough to throw the powerful right hook towards the side of the newly exposed dragon.

Trent uploaded the watery blades next, the aqua knives. The chip was sent to both knives, each one's blade and handle changing into a water form. Trent carried through with the power of his punch, dipping in lower to avoid return charges. He popped himself back up and led his vicious charge with both blades. Taking each in a flurry of slashes against hit opponent he carried threw with his weight and force. Each knife swing flung water around the room, the swipe patterns decorating the wall behind the earth dragon.

Trent pushed backwards from the fight, dropping his weight to one leg and pulling up the guard chip. He had undoubtedly angered the dragon if it wasn't deleted, and the other could be none too happy about the presence of the bomb dropping navi near him. His guard up he whistled as Sasha, who ran back off to the side to Terra, slipping and sliding on the ice all the way.

With the viruses and the crazy chef nearly wiped out, Terra looked over at the knife fighter to see how he was doing. The situation looked well, until she saw Trent being slammed into by a rather enthusiastic Slimey. It was deleted anyhow, but Terra figured a little extra protection wouldn't hurt. Her barrier was redirected towards Trent, and a yellow glow encased him immediately after she did so.

Satisfied with her work, she noticed that something was missing from the entire thing. The place seemed to be unusually quiet, with Trent and her having executed most of the viruses successfully. Then, it came to her, and she restarted the link with Scarlet. "... Send in Carbide with Drain. MarkCannons for me," said Terra. The request took a little bit before it came through, however, with a grumbling Scarlet on the other end, swearing endlessly under her breath. "... Scarlet? Are you all right?" asked Terra, with a short shake of the head from the operator. "No, nothing, just venting," she replied, muttering something before partaking in some breakfast.

Shortly after the statement, Terra saw Carbide's small wireframe beamed down into the kitchen, rapidly forming the SP into a complete body a little ways away from her. The first thing she did was to loudly complain, "What was that for?!" Terra merely looked away, while Carbide puffed up her cheeks, indignant about the lack of an answer. "Ugh, whatever!" she called out. Forming up her shield, she fired a chunk of it at the weaker EarthDragon, which was imbued with the Drain's data. Once it connected, it would rip off a sizable chunk of recovery data.

Terra was still mulling over an answer in her head, as she lifted her icy fist in front of her. With a twitch of her fingers, yet more ice collected onto the floating appendage, which eventually fell to the ground from the weight. The hand split cleanly into two, forming two strange-looking three-fingered fists. Swinging her arms about, she pointed the fists at two of the remaining viruses, and launched them easily with two flicks of her fingers.

"... Sorry about earlier," started Terra, a faint hint of guilt in her voice. "... Didn't want you to get hurt." Carbide sighed as she readied her shield to protect herself from attacks, and chuckled. "Well, you should've said so earlier, then! I'm okay with that." said Carbide, a small smile replacing the frustration from earlier.

The Earthdragons both attacked in a rage, but they were terrible attackers and only managed to melt some ice and bust open Sasha's barrier. The Bag 'O Candy shot a Jawbreaker at Trent, but Terra was there to block the damage with another barrier. Carbide came back and tried to use Drain on the EarthDragon but missed. Trent mashed one of the dragons with some aqua attacks and Terra deleted the last two remaining viruses. Kitchen raid complete.

"Awww maaaan, you stole my kill!" complained Carbide, as the shard retracted back into her shield. Stomping over to Terra, she was about to give the Navi a piece of her mind, when the grip on her boots failed her for a moment, and she slipped on the ice to hit her head on the ground. "Ow!" she exclaimed, sitting up and rubbing the back of her head with a sorry expression on her face.

Terra hid an amused smile behind her hand as Carbide stabbed a sharp end of her shield into the ice, cracking it slightly. "Stupid ice!" she said. The older of the programs silently offered a hand, and the support program took the offer gladly. "I think I got stronger or something. Feels like I'm... chunkier or something?" she said, looking at her arms. It didn't look like she got any tougher. "Does that mean you got fatter or something?" said Scarlet, munching on some French toast.

"... Do programs get fat?" interjected Terra. "I don't want to get fat. That sounds gross," said Carbide. Terra shook her head at the nonsense that was coming out of the conversation, and began to walk around, reconverting the ground around her to the way it was before. This left Carbide with Sasha, who had been at Terra's side for the battle from before. The SP looked at the large dog with a bit of hesitation, before letting out, "Uh... hey?"

Terra walked up to her partner while she finished up her job. "... Should we explore the inner room?" she inquired, waving her hands about while she talked, making for a rather distracting display.
Trent lowered his blades as the last of the dragons fell. In doing so he gazed inside the pot where his target was at, and found the powerful chip data that remained. Mark slid up to the edge of his seat as it was sent over and downloaded to the blank chip. "This is a really nice chip. It does so much widespread damage and destruction to the field. I love it," Mark said. Trent wasn't as amused by the chip but still admitted to its power. His first thought was on the blade that Terra had possessed. This could get him that. It seemed Mark wanted to hold unto the chip for now either way.

Sasha started in on clean up duty of the bug frags while Trent collected the rest of the data to send to Mark. They pair was pulling in large amounts of money from this network. I guess that's what you get from netvegas. Mark would have to make a note of this and come back another time, if this friendship between Terra and Trent didn't last as long as he needed.

Sasha moved back over towards Terra without thinking after cleaning up the frags and sat down as the ice changed back. Carbide was just getting her feet back under her as the both awkwardly locked gazes. Sasha began to lower his body towards the ground, but instead held himself back and stood his ground. The large white dog was sitting down, keeping an unblinking stare with Carbide. His ears were perked slightly, and his form less aggressive than usual.

Trent started to seek out Terra to inquire about the next room, but she was already at him and waving her arms to inform him that she wanted to go to the next room. Trent's eyes briefly followed her hands but quickly snapped back to watching her center mass, out of instinct. "I would like to go to the inner room." Trent moved over to the door and summoned Sasha to his side. The white dog slowly pulled away from his interaction with Carbide and moved to Trent's side, as he started to push the door open.

{Open interior door slowly}
Trent opened the door and found himself staring down the end of a fancy, yet dilapidated, dining hall. The ceiling was exceptionally high and the room was well-lit by three large, glass chandeliers that hung from the ceiling; the middle one being slightly larger than the other two - all of them definitely too high to reach through normal means. Tall windows with long-hanging red drapes lined the far wall that looked out into some kind of garden. A long table sat in the middle of the room, complete with tablecloth, cutlery, chairs, and candlesticks. The room was largely decorated for a party that apparently never happened.

The dining hall granted entrance to another room on the other end of the hall and also an entrance to the garden.

[Encounter 4 - Wat do?]
"Fancy," commented Carbide, as she looked at the table lined out with all the fittings. Picking up one of the spoons, she started playing around with the plates. Terra glanced at her SP, and decided to let the little one have her fun, while she inspected the surroundings. Of course, most of her efforts were focused on the ground, trying to detect any form of movement. Unfortunately, her senses confirmed what she saw; there wasn't anything in the room.

At least, not anything that was moving. Terra thought the garden outside inviting, but she was curious as to what lay behind the other door. Without further ado, she conjured up a small rock, and threw it at Carbide to get her attention. A small cry confirmed a direct hit, and Carbide came up screaming, with her hands placed over her forehead. "Don't do that!" she cried out, a pathetic expression on her face. Terra tilted her head to the side momentarily, and placed a hand over Carbide's head, rubbing it.

The gesture was retracted quickly, and she motioned at the door. Carbide's interest was now peaked, and she followed Terra to the door. The geomancer Navi thought it would be nice for her to take the initiative for once, and turned the knob on the door slowly.

[Open door]
As Terra and Carbide entered the room so too did Trent and Sasha, right behind the two of them. Trent made sure to leave the door open. When Trent saw the party set up he looked back over his shoulder into the kitchen, remembering what the scene looked like before the two had gotten there, and then glanced back inside the dinning room. His thoughts ran wild, as did Mark's, with various theories and horror movie style images and scenarios. Sasha moved up to the table and peered unto it, sniffing the air as he did so. He was tall enough to rest his head on the table top if he wished.

Trent quickly scanned the room, nothing interesting stood out other than the two doors, one leading deeper into the house, and the other leading outside of the house. He was about to move for the door into the house, but Terra beat him to it. He called Sasha back to his side and moved towards the door frame, waiting for Terra to open it fully so all four of them could see inside.

{Watch them open the door}
"Where are you going?" came a voice from behind them.

Sitting in the chair at the far end of the table, a navi had appeared. There was no sign that the chair had been moved and there had been no footsteps to indicate his entrance into the room. Whoever he was, he looked as fancy as he was sneaky. Regal clothing with far too many minute details to mention sat comfortably on his frame - predominantly black with gold trim and red accents everywhere, he looked fairly aristocratic. Moreover, he seemed a little bored, not even bothering to look at Trent or Terra as he spoke. He raised a hand to snap his fingers and the chandeliers flashed brilliantly, temporarily blinding everyone.

When their sight returned, the room had been fully restored, no longer marred by the ravages of time. The table had even been set up with a feast fit for a king.

"I asked you a question." he added.
Both Trent and Sasha jumped backwards quickly as the voice rose up from behind, Trent throwing his guard up quickly, two blades protruding from his palm. Once Trent saw that the navi wasn't attacking or moving his guard lightened slightly, only enough for his stance to loosen. Sasha's teeth were never unbarred as he stood watch. Even Mark was startled from the arrival of the navi, popping slightly from his chair. Mark quickly started tapping in commands and doing fast research while Trent remained on the watch.

Then the lights flashed. Trent and Sasha both threw up and even stronger guard, crouching themselves down closer to the ground and moving backwards towards the wall. As their eyes cleared and their vision restored, they pressed themselves to the wall in defense. Their actions were eventually shown to be without use, as the navi hadn't moved from the spot. That's when their eyes caught all of the food spread out on the table. Both Trent and Sasha were extremely guarded at the navi and the feast, but Sasha was getting curious about the delicious smells entering his nose.

Trent called the dog back while Mark talked to Trent. "My bet is the navi is a shadow navi of sorts. Judging by his attitude he expecting us somehow. I think. Be on edge, don't trust the food but TRY to be somewhat social."

Trent tried to relax as he looked over to Terra to see her reaction. He turned back to the new navi and said, "I guess we aren't going anywhere." Trent didn't want to anger or engage the navi just yet. Trent was rather sneaky, but if this guy could sneak up on him so effortlessly, this wasn't a fight he would be seeking right away.
Scarlet narrowed her eyes as she munched on her breakfast and scrolled through some BBS boards. She hadn't been paying much attention to the happenings after the kitchen skirmish, as it had made her hungrier than ever. "Careful, Terra, Carbide," said Scarlet, to which Terra nodded. Carbide wasn't paying much heed to that, though, and was more curious about what the Navi was about. At least he didn't look like the monster chef from before.

Suddenly, the lights flickered, and both Terra and Carbide were down to a defensive stance. A short while later, however, Carbide relaxed her stance at the sight of all the food on the table. "Ooooh!" she exclaimed, taking in all of the smells that were coming off from the spread. It was certainly impressive, and Scarlet looked at her coffee with a slightly crooked look after seeing it. Resisting from ordering another, she simply watched the proceedings. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. She trusted the girls.

... Then again, after Trent delivered his quip, Carbide was eager to ask, "Is this your house?"
The stranger, looking somewhat wistful as he stared out into the garden, replied, "Yes, I am the lord of this manor that you two have so graciously vandalized with your presence."

He paused and turned to look Terra and Trent in the eyes. There was something about his gaze that was paralyzing and held the navis in place. He got up off his chair and walked up to the group casually.

"Tell me, Trent. Terra." He spat their names with contempt, "What are you looking for? What is it that you truly want?..."

His questions weren't posed at simply why they were in his mansion, but were directed much deeper than that. He was probing them for answers and was very effective at it. Everyone immediately began to think about their deepest desires, Carbide and Sasha included, but only Trent and Terra were compelled to answer against their will. Still being held captive by his seemingly supernatural power, the navis could only relent to the stranger's demands.
Strange thoughts began to invade Terra's and Carbide's thought processes, and both of them were taken off guard by the fact that they couldn't move. Scarlet gulped down her coffee quickly as she saw some bars on her screen spike from the high processing activity. "Hey, guys, what's going on?" said Scarlet, trying to discern what was happening. All she saw, however, was the regal-looking character on the screen, who was slowly walking towards them. Taking safety precautions, she searched through her folder for appropriate battlechips, should Terra and Carbide need them.

A lot of answers came to Terra's mind as she went through them one by one, "... The earth... under my feet... and everything... that walks it," said Terra, gritting her teeth as she spat out the words, two or three at a time. Her face went red as she finished her sentence and turned to look down, instantly regretting what she had said. She couldn't bear to see the person's face. Meanwhile, Carbide's face also went red, though her mind was occupied with something else entirely. Looking at Terra, the support program swallowed visibly, then realized what she was doing, and tried to keep her focus on the man in front of them, dressed as a king.
As the stranger before him posed the question, the first thought to Trent's mind was of why he was in the house. That answer was far simpler than anything else he could be probing for. He was in the house to simply explore it. Such a manor, he thought, couldn't belong to a navi when overrun by viruses at the front entrance. Although there was a virus training navi. As Trent opened his mouth to speak the thought, the true effect of the strangers power came over him. Trent was instantly grief struck. He became somber and still, his head hanging low and his eyes gazing downwards, his eyeballs rolling back and forth.

Mark watched the screens of Trent's vitals even more closely as the warrior went into a blank stare. Various vitals were going haywire within the warrior, showing a near sign of strong stress from him. Whatever was weighing on his mind was very heavy.

Even Sasha was affected by the question, although his concern for the strength and safety of Trent was far greater than his own doggy thoughts. He pushed up against the side of Trent's leg, the weight of the animal pushing Trent side to side as the dog flipped Trent's up on his head. A small whimper was emitted as Trent muttered, "To escape the rings."

Trent raised his head back to face the stranger, his mind returning as he raised his guard once more. The strong action was both an active form of defense and a passive form of one; seeing as Trent wasn't excited about anyone having heard that. Let alone force him to say it. Sasha barked loudly and growled towards the stranger.

As Mark heard the words that Trent said he pushed himself away from the desk, letting the rolling chair under him slide backwards carelessly. Mark scoffed at the words and the idea of what Trent was feeling. Mark needed the money. Trent was a fighter, and a good one; plus, Mark owned him. He shook off the thoughts and zoned back into the matter at hand.
Upon hearing their answers, the regal navi scoffed lightly and turned away, releasing the group from his mental grip. Almost everyone collapsed as they returned to their senses, feeling as though they were coming up for air after being suffocated. Though no longer stunned, no one was in any condition to launch a counterattack.

"I've been watching you." he said with his back to them, "Your antics... amuse me, though for how much longer remains to be seen... I take my leave of you now. Do what you will."

Spreading his cape out wide, his body was completely obscured from view. As the cloth swept back down, he had disappeared and the cape simply seemed to fade from sight. The room was still in its pristine form with food on the table and there were three doors leading out of the dining hall, inluding the one leading to the kitchen.
The mental strain on Terra and Carbide's systems decreased significantly as the regal Navigator exited(?) the room. Terra exhaled rather visibly; her pupils dilated as the weight of her answer set into her mind. She stood back up rather weakly, and took a glance at Carbide. The SP didn't seem to be very affected by the Navi's leave, however, with her face indicating that she had gone up to dreamland.

Scarlet breathed a sigh of relief as she saw the two red bars fall down on her holoscreen. She was rather curious about what Terra had said in her forced confession, but she was more concerned about their current condition. "That didn't look too good. You guys okay?" she asked, to which Terra put up a silent thumbs-up, much to the operator's relief. The Navigator fixed Carbide's situation with a quick flick of her fingers, snapping Carbide out of her stupor. "Huh? What? Eh?" said Carbide in a daze. Terra left Carbide to herself, while she strolled a few steps over to Trent.

"... Everything all right?" she inquired. Carbide took a couple of seconds to orient herself, feeling a little more dizzy than she felt she should. Wobbling over to the previous door that they had approached, she leaned onto it, grabbing onto the doorknob for a bit of support. In her daze, she accidentally turned said knob...

[Open previous door]
Trent's head started to clear as the navi too his leave. Trent wasn't feeling up to an attack but that didn't stop him from trying as the navi faded from view. His knife tip got stuck in the table top as he stumbled to regain his balance fully. Sasha moved as quickly as he could to Trent's side, pushing Trent's free hand up onto the dogs back to push the fighter to his feet. Finally the haze of the navi's presence was gone. Trent wouldn't look at Mark's hologram, leaving an elephant in the room between the two of them. Sasha was making himself a bit small and keeping a hunched body near Trent's leg.

Mark didn't say anything and did nothing but sit and watch the events unfold. The food on the table looked appealing to Mark, meaning it probably did the same for Trent, but both knew that since it was summoned by the creepy Lord navi, it probably wasn't a safe thing to eat.

Trent watched his teammates regain themselves, and merely observed as Terra accidentally opened the door. Trent moved over to the side of the door frame again, at a slow pace, and Sasha followed. Time to see what was behind this door. Trent kept the image of the lord navi in his head, trying to remember every detail about the encounter. He would replay this scene in his head a lot until he had found the navi again.
The only thing that could describe the room was cozy as the first thing the navis noticed was a roaring fireplace that kept the area well lit and warm. An assortment of couches circled a large animal-skin rug that was laid out in front of the open fire. Several trophies in the form of severed heads jutted out from the walls, creating a mildly creepy ambience. Other notable features of the room included a large, apparently stuffed, Teddy virus in an enraged pose and a bookshelf that lined the far wall. Only Carbide had fumbled into the room so far and nothing happened. Perhaps it was safer than the others.

"Oh, whoops," said Carbide, as she stumbled into the room. Terra looked off to the side as she heard the door click, and pulled Carbide back immediately after. However, as she peeked into the room, she didn't see anything very threatening inside to deal with. Other than the massive sense of foreboding coming from the general creepy atmosphere of the room, that is. She could deal with that easily.

"... There's nothing inside this room," said Terra, pulling the door back into its former position. She then gestured with her head towards the garden, seeing as it was pretty much the last thing they could explore. She liked the outside, anyway, so it was a bonus.

[Close door; approach garden]
