DubloonMan arrived at the coordinates disoriented and confused.
"Yarrr..." He mumbled, clutching his head in a daze.
"I guess this must be the place." Roger noted, "Do you see anyone around?"

Mission: For The Birds!

Teleporting into the area marked by the hyperlink, DubloonMan found himself on a flourishing island, with his current location being a pristine white beach. Near his location was a large wooden pier, with a speedboat docked near it. The speedboat looked to be a grand machine, and would be much more beautiful had it not been vandalized by numerous cracks in its hull. The source was a small Powie, thumping on the boat with its massive girth. Though the boat looked a lot sturdier than regular boats, it didn't seem to be holding out against the Powie.
Fortunately, it ceased its act when it saw DubloonMan standing on the beach near it. However, just as the pirate Navi thought he could have an easy deletion, a savage cry was emitted from the skies. A look up would reveal it to be made by two Fishy viruses, and... one other virus. It looked to have green feathers as well, but not spiked and sharpened as was the style of the Fishy, but it was of down instead. The bird led the Fishy with surprising speed, emitting a harsher cry than that of the Fishy.

DubloonMan craned his neck up to the sound of cawing, "AVAST! Be that th' reward ye be talkin' about? Th' parrot? Do I need t' catch it?"
"What? No! That's not the reward! Kill it! It's a virus!"
"Yarrr... T'is an ugly lookin' bird anyhow."
Roger scanned over his chip selection and while he had been getting some new chips, none seemed up to his navi's standards. Though he still had still not tried the Rope and there wasn't much time to think it over. It was slotted in on impulse as Roger looked for better options.
A coil of rope appeared wrapped around DubloonMan's arm. The birds were moving in too fast to catch with the rope but the Powie was a different story. The end of the rope was already done up in a lariat giving DubloonMan an idea of how to use it. Swinging it lightly to build up momentum, he tossed the loop over the Powie and pulled the tether tight with a sudden jerk, "Yar ha-har! Stay put! I'll deal with ye later!"
Now was the time to run. DubloonMan scampered across the beach to avoid being divebombed by the trio of airborne foes. He headed to the shore where he felt more at home. His feet sank fast into the dunes and worked against his efforts. He snarled and reached into his coat.
Roger had begun to organize his chips into two groups. In one pocket were all of his gun chips and in the other pocket was everything else. Without looking, he grabbed two chips from his 'gun' pocket and slotted them in. One of them was DubloonMan's beloved Shotgun, but the other was the as-of-yet untested Bubblespreader.
DubloonMan pulled out his blunderbuss and spun around to fire, "Do yer thing, lass!"
A cluster of loose buckshot filled the air, but DubloonMan knew that alone wouldn't deter the viruses. He sheathed his weapon and drew out the Bubblespreader, which took the form of another blunderbuss. This one was clearly different - it was rusty and encrusted with barnacles with long ropey strands of seaweed hanging off of it. The barrel looked fat and stocky and the whole thing dripped water constantly. It looked as if it had just been fished out of the ocean. DubloonMan looked it it strangely but didn't really have time to complain while the viruses were descending upon him. He aimed and fired, expecting another spread of buckshot.
Instead, the weapon unloaded a spray of white pearls with a burst of briny mist. The sparkling pellets further cascaded into a series of ivory powdered explosions, much larger and brighter than his Shotgun could hope to achieve.
"YO ho ho!" He cheered, clacking his heel against his cannon, "Yer a KEEPER! I dub ye... NEREID."

Snaring the Powie with his newfound rope, DubloonMan meant to have it held ensnared, but he accidentally stressed the virus too much and deleted it in the process. He then fired at the rabid parrot thing with his two guns, smashing the opposition into bits before they could attack or something silly like that. How quaint.

DubloonMan gave Nereid a good shake to rid the gun of excess seawater before reluctantly sliding it back into the recesses of his coat. He looked at the damaged boat with a sigh, partially sad that the once beautiful vessel had fallen to such ruin and partially because the Powie had died before he had a chance to toy with it some more.
"So I'm guessing those are the things we have to get rid of." Roger said.
DubloonMan gave his beard a quick scratch from his hook, "Aye, I'll be glad t' put a bullet between every pair o' bird eyes on th' island."
That sentiment and brutality made it hard for Roger to admire his navi without a bit of concern on the side. The more pressing matter was that this was only one of the birds and there were probably still many more waiting for them. Roger sighed at that thought and wondered how long this mission was going to take. DubloonMan was perfectly content to count his zennies and pass the occasional glance at the speedboat as if it were an attractive woman.

Trailing along the beach, DubloonMan soon found himself nearer to dry ground, and started to stroll along the less sandy soil. His walk was interrupted when he came across two enormous clams, one shut tight, and another wide open, their backs to him. However, what was more interesting was not the huge shellfish, but the birds that were present next to them. The colorful birds from before were there, and they didn't look very tame. In fact, they were pecking at the shells with a noisy racket in their wake. A Lark stood by, unable to help out. The parrots noticed the intrusion from DubloonMan, and screeched at him in a fit of rage, hurtling themselves at him.

Instead of turning away or trying to evade the oncoming attack, DubloonMan did as he had always done in the past and charged at them. Of course, with his handicap, he didn't charge as fast as he'd like to and ended up hobble. Roger eyed the DashAttack and wondered if it would live up to its name. He didn't think there was much to lose in this situation and slotted it in while preparing another gun chip.
The clank of his metallic cannon against the floor quickened in pace until he was practically gliding across the floor. He didn't seem to notice his own increase in speed and bellowed at the top of his lungs, "COME ON YE FEATHERED FILTHMONGERS! I'VE GOT ENOUGH PAIN FER THE LOT O' YE! YAR HA-HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR!" His voice struck before he did, spreading a wave of fear all around him, but it wasn't enough. A whip of his arm pulled the anchor off of his back and launched it around him. The combined ferocity of the DashAttack, his psychotic laughter and the added threat of his wildly swinging anchor made him a sight to behold.
As he continued to run, his momentum carried him past the Rabidbirds and straight into the ShellGeeks they had been harassing. DubloonMan tried to slow down, kicking his heels into the sand but the DashAttack overwhelmed his capacity to control his own movements. He was forced to use his anchor in a more conventional manner and tossed it at one of the clams while still gripping the chain tightly. The enormous metal hook bit deep into the sand and finally stopped DubloonMan's rampage in a sudden jerk that swept the navi off of his feet. Roger watched the spectacle and made a mental note not to use that chip in close quarters while he slotted in a Machinegun.
"Yarr... I seem t've gotten carried away thar." he said, withdrawing his pistol and clambering onto his feet, "Me legs be not what I remember they be."
He knew his priority was still eliminating the parrots and he kept that in mind as he set his sights on the birds with his firearm. A wild spray of lead rounds pierced the air as he discharged his weapon repeatedly. DubloonMan let out a sigh and thought it a bit unfair to be singling out the parrots like this. The ray and the clams would simply have to wait their turn to be destroyed by him. He had enough guns, but sadly, not enough hands to shoot them.

Using the DashAttack to, well, attack while dashing, DubloonMan raised hell when he rushed the ranks of the enemies, crying out with his enraged bellow and swinging about his anchor, deleting one of the Shellgeek and seriously injuring one of the rabid parrots. As a result of his battle cry, all of the enemies were pretty damn intimidated, but they weren't about to be beaten by this strange new enemy yet. The Lark fired its watery shot at DubloonMan, injuring him for a fair amount of damage. (15)
Tossing his anchor to stop himself, he missed the Shellgeek he was aiming for, but at least he managed to bring himself to a halt. The MachineGun he fired later blasted the parrots to bits. It was then that the surviving Lark saw the extent of DubloonMan's fury, and it froze in fear. The surviving Shellgeek opened up its shell, and was similarly affected.

"Yarrr... Me thinks it be high time fer some fun!" DubloonMan said, brandishing his hook as he walked over to the Shellgeek, "D'ye think this barnacle bears any pearls? Yar ha-har! I spose' thar be but one way t' find out!"
DubloonMan reached in with his hook and prepared to gut the virus when Roger interrupted, "I don't want to rush you but we have a job to do and it's starting to get cold out."
"Be ye daft, lad? The weather be as clear and warm as th' sea!" declared DubloonMan.
Roger envied the eternally pleasant weather of the net. He was wracked with fatigue from work and the adrenaline of virus busting wasn't keeping him entertained anymore. He slotted in some Shotguns, "We still have no idea how many more birds are left. I just want to finish this as soon as possible so I can go home and sleep."
"Very well, business before pleasure then!" DubloonMan said, withdrawing his hook from the virus's exposed innards. He pulled out his normal blunderbuss and tried to line up the Lark from his vantage point.
"Betty be offerin' a two fer one deal while supplies last. In fact, ye could say this be... A once in a lifetime opportunity!" quipped DubloonMan.
With a single pull of the trigger, a double helping of buckshot was unloaded upon the ShellGeek with a spray of shrapnel shredding past it towards the Lark.

DubloonMan wasted no time in collecting the zenny and dumping the sand covered coins into his treasure trove before resuming his hunt for the RabidParrots. It was a little surprising to Roger that his navi was suddenly so compliant and wondered if there was some sinister motive DubloonMan was working towards.
"Hey, DubloonMan?" addressed Roger.
"Yarrr... What ails ye now, lad?" DubloonMan answered.
Roger wasn't quite sure how to ask "why are you being so nice?" and decided to disregard his idle thoughts instead, "...Nothing, nevermind."
"...Aye, back t' th' hunt then." DubloonMan nodded and walked off.

As DubloonMan walked through the island, he reached the edge of the white beaches again, finding himself near a gulf. In the not-too-far distance, a moderate wooden shack could be seen at a very nice spot in the gulf, where the waves could be seen to roll into the dozens of feet, even from where DubloonMan stood. He looked around, and surprisingly enough, didn't see that many viruses.
Well, there was this solitary Fan virus that sat by itself in on a patch of grass, but it looked to be beat up slightly for some reason. DubloonMan would see this reason soon enough, when the unmistakeable cry of the parrots echoed throughout the beach. A look up would reveal a host of the ravenous birds flying through the sky, but this time, they seemed to have a leader in their midst. Instead of green feathers, this lone one had a fiery red pattern on its body, making it look particularly intimidating. The red bird led the pack with a most horrible-sounding screech; the sound could probably be likened to static amplified to a jet engine.
And of course, they did not look very pleased with the pirate Navi all by his lonesome on the beach.

"Ohhh..." Roger blurted out, "That is a lot of parrots."
"Aye, that it be, lad." DubloonMan nodded slightly with his neck still craned back.
Roger shuffled through his pockets and wondered he had the firepower to take them on. It would probably be a little tight, but with a little luck and some raw savagery, they could probably power through this fight. Roger wasn't sure what kind of strategy to use and what would work.
"Me powder keg and torch, if ye would." DubloonMan said, still staring at the birds.
Roger had no qualms about following requests and maybe his navi had more of a plan than he did, though he sort of doubted it. He fished out the chips out of his pocket and slotted them in. Another red powder keg apepared on the beachy dune just ahead. With barbaric strength, DubloonMan wrapped his arms around the barrel tightly and squeezed the container in a monstrous bear hug. The barrel buckled at first, but ultimately collapsed in on itself, shooting a jet of black mist high into the air. The black powder was quick to settle but DubloonMan wasn't about to let that happen. He dropped the remains of the barrel and swatted the base of the dust tower with a hastily summoned torch, igniting the mushroom cloud of gunpowder. Fire erupted upwards at the birds and like some kind of fiery serpent snapping its jaws. The pryotechnic display was short-lived, leaving DubloonMan with a torch he didn't know what to do with.
"Bah!" He spat and chucked it directly into the vortex of air that was drawing him in. A burst of embers spread out along the grassy patch that the damaged virus was sitting on and intensified the flames twofold, much to DubloonMan's delight.
The first attack wouldn't be enough to delete any of the birds and DubloonMan knew that and so did Roger. Two more chips were slotted in, arming DubloonMan with his new BubbleSpreader and his second favourite, the Machinegun.
"Time t' drown these fools, Nereid!" growled DubloonMan, swinging his waterlogged weapon upwards. Streams of seawater drained from the gun and dribbled down his arm but he didn't seem to mind. A discharge of pearly buckshot spread out in a wide pattern, peppering the sky in a glittering dust - a stark contrast to the black cloud he had produced earlier. Diving his hand into his jacket and back out, DubloonMan swapped his blunderbuss for a pistol. There wasn't much in the way of aiming this time as he just shot wildly, hoping to clip some feathers and bring his enemies down from their perch.

A mushroom cloud of fire greeted the parrots as they rushed the pirate Navi, roasting over some of them into critical damage. The fan mysteriously didn't get the torch on it, with the fiery stick rolling to the side instead. The parrots attempted to peck his brains out, but failed hard as DubloonMan fought them off with his trusty Nereid. They did get a few hits in after that, though, and boy, they did hurt. (20x2)
The fan just sorta sat there, glad that it wasn't involved or anything silly like that.

"YARRR! GET THESE FLYIN' DISEASEBAGS OFFA ME!" DubloonMan called out, swatting at his attackers in futility. Though if anything, he was more annoyed than in any actual danger.
Roger figured there would be a few stragglers after the initial set of attacks but now they were too close to use a Crackerbomb. There were three gun chips left, the two Shotguns and the Cannon. He hadn't used the Cannon in a while but it seemed weak in comparison to the Shotguns and it had a tendency to knock his navi off balance by the way he used it.
DubloonMan wailed, "ROGER! WHAT'RE YE WAITIN' FER!? T' ARMS, LAD! T' ARMS!"
"Sorry! Slotting in the Shotguns." complied Roger.
His navi warded off the fierce pecking with his hook as he reached into his jacket. Slinging his Shotgun out in a desperate sweep to clear some space for himself, DubloonMan was forced to shoot on instinct. The booming discharge of his firearm provided just enough of an opening for him to quickly switch targets and fire again in an equally thunderous salvo of buckshot.
"Away with ye!" DubloonMan snarled, "Betty be in no mood t' play with ye!"
His operator was at a loss of what to try next. He was still inexperienced in the way of virus busting and fiddled with the chips in his pocket. He knew there was no point in stalling and if push came to shove, he could simply forgo strategy and slot in everything until he won or DubloonMan was defeated. And that's exactly what he did.
"Slotting in the Rope and Rage... Hook." Roger announced.
A thick loop of rope appeared on DubloonMan's belt. He faced the VacuumFan and made an indignant look at its ability to survive his earlier attack. He went after it with the rope, his charge at the virus hastened by the tailwind of the wind. Giving the cord one good swing around his head, he tossed the lariat around the large box and pulled it tight, bringing him even closer.
"Confounded contraption!" DubloonMan cried, bringing his hook down upon the virus.

Whipping out ol' trusty Betty, DubloonMan fired out a hail of bullets, taking out two more birds. The last one tried to peck at him, but was drowned out in the flocking of the other birds flailing to the ground. He tossed his lariat out to the VacuumFan, but his aim missed and his hook went nowhere fast. Perhaps he was just a liiiittle bit too excited.

His horrible aim at trying to strike down the stationary fan was driving him insane. He growled audibly to himself as he began to lose sight of the job he was sent to do. All that filled his mind was how he many ways he could dismantle that box. The incessant sounds from the parrot annoyed him as he plotted.
Roger looked at his last gun chip with a frown, "Slotting in a Ca-"
"CEASE YER INFERNAL SQWAWKING!" DubloonMan roared at the bird and kicked his prosthetic leg at such an obtuse angle that Roger was surprised his navi's leg didn't come right off. The cannon on the end of his shin fired upwards, pushing DubloonMan slightly deeper into the sand and creating a bit of a crater around him. The shell flew high and fast, the sound of its flight masked by the echoes of its launch. As he set right leg back down, he hunched over like a football player and eyed the virus, the path to it and any other possible factor that would get in his way.
"Yarrr... Ye've made a fool o' me fer too long, box." DubloonMan said.
Roger could anticipate what his navi was going to attempt and could see it was going to end poorly. To even the odds, he slotted in the DashAttack. DubloonMan pressed off from the Sandy tile with an unnaturally fast acceleration thanks to the chip, pushing his speed beyond its normal limits.
"YAR HA-HAR!" He howled his signature laugh with his arms outstretched, ready to bring down the virus with a high-speed tackle.

Enraged at his own inability to smash up a single fan virus, DubloonMan went all out, roaring in rage. The parrot was exterminated within seconds with a well-placed Cannon, and the fan was smashed to bits by his DashAttack. All was well, and the inlet was safe. All that was left was the actual destination that was the shack.

DubloonMan brushed the sand and pieces of broken VacuumFan from his arms and straightened his hat. He had claimed a hard-earned victory and while he was very pleased with himself, he tried to keep his cool about being so happy just by breaking a fan. A small smirk peeked out from his gruff exterior. Fortunately, Roger wasn't paying attention and had turned his attention towards the nearby shack.
"Hey DubloonMan, see that hut over there? I think that's where the guy is." Roger said.
"Yar, what guy?" DubloonMan asked, "Ye never said anythin' about no guy."
"The guy who asked us to do this job." Roger replied.
"OH! That guy. Aye, well, I suppose it be high time t' pay this guy a visit then." DubloonMan grinned and made his way to the shack.

"Dude! Duuuuuuuude! Over here, dude!" a voice came hollering from over the beach. From his point of view, DubloonMan could see a small figure dashing quickly towards him on some sort of vehicle, blasting a cloud of sand behind it. As it came near, DubloonMan saw that it was a Navi in the design of a typical surfer; the guy was wearing some Bermuda shorts and a floral-print T-shirt. Dark shades shone in the light of the sun. His vehicle, DubloonMan saw, was a hovering surfboard of some sort, which propelled its way forward like a jet. The surfboard slowed down as it approached DubloonMan's position, and finally stopped short of the man himself.
The Navi hopped off the board once he was in front of DubloonMan, and immediately stuck out a hand to shake. "SurfBro, dude! You're the dude I sent for, I think?" he introduced himself.
