Eyes Closed

"Oof." The wind was knocked out of Rayner's chest as he was flattened. A look of annoyance crossed his face as the Melody decided to celebrate its successful hit by bouncing on the Navi that had deleted its fellow virus. Probably not the brightest of idea. Rayner heard a distinctive 'click' and a chuckle, he frowned as he reached around with some awkwardness and flailed about at the music note virus with his humanoid hand. Apparently he managed to connect for the weight soon lifted from his back. The Elec Navi rolled over to his back and pulled his knees to his chest. He kicked with enough strength to bring himself up to his feet. He dusted himself off and looked around for the remaining Virus.

"Last one is behind you. Hmm, you've lost some HP take this." Joan rustled through the small mess of chips on the table. "Aha!" Rayner turned with her words to find the virus, and then began speaking up when she mentioned his HP.

"Hey, wait you've alre-"

"BLEEP."

"-already used that chip." He finished blandly.

"Ahaha, I'm sorry. That sound is really obnoxious. Can we turn it off?" She rubbed at the back of her head sheepishly., appearing in a little pop up window next to Rayner.

"Mm, probably, we can take a look at it later. For now I want to continue this run." Joan gave a nod and then looked down at the chips in front of her.

"Ah, do you want me to..? Or do you mind if I just close my eyes for the rest of the fight?" Rayner flinched when she looked down at the chips and quickly shook his head.

"No, no I'm good. Just, leave them on the table. I can continue fighting with the RageClaw, but perhaps you should start sorting the piles into used and not used? You can probably keep your eyes closed while doing so." He crossed his arms over his chest and raised his eyebrows at her. "If you want to keep resting even further, I'd be fine with that. You'll just want to figure out a way to deal with the already used chips as I mentioned." Joan looked up from her chips and nodded, gathering them all into a pile.

"Alright, I'll trust the rest of the fights to you. Ah...thank you for indulging me." She finished a little awkwardly, fiddling with the chip currently in her hands before closing out the window.

Rayner shook his head, a gentleness in his eyes as he turned his gaze on the final virus. "It's fine, rest your eyes.." He abruptly charged the virus, moving into position in front of him and lashing out with both claws in a series of attacks that were a bit more flailing wildly then carefully controlled attacks.

Minor chip mix-ups aside, Raynor was more than well equipped enough to deal with the remaining threat. while some musical pieces rise up toa great crescendo at the end, this one was a little more anti-climatic. After shaking himself off from his slight flattening, Raynor made swift moves towards the last note, claw ready. It tried to bounce out of his way, but once more fell victim tot he magnetic panel beneath it, and stayed firmly stuck to the staff as Rayner's claws sliced and diced it. The piece was over, class dismissed.

Or maybe not quite. As the last note began to disintegrate, a play of light flickered over the magnets, and the notes that had been struck during is battle began to play. It was a varied set of notes, with some notable patterning and a passable amount of structure, and as each bar played, one of the bars of the staff lit up and stayed lit. As the sixth bar finished, the light holograph of a treble clef picked itself out near where he had walked onto the stage, glowed brightly for a moment, then condensed into a far more valuable green crystal. It seemed like his dedication to music was being rewarded, possibly.

Open GMD? (Y/N)
The sound of victory came in a rather scattered arrangement of notes. It was a pretty rough. Probably had something to do with glowing musical symbol that had resolved into a green packet of risk or reward. It'd be a coin flip to guess which, but as Rayner approached the bundle of Mystery Data he seemed willing to flip that coin. He was also pleased to scoop up all the useful data that had been left behind on the battle field, no sense leaving it to waste. There was nothing cautious or reserved about the way Rayner reached for the chip. No matter what, it would still be better than waiting around the PET in quiet.

"Well hellooo darlin'."

Open: Y
Golden chip data swirled out from the GMD in a glittering cloud. It hung peacefully for a moment before beginning to funnel into a small portal that crackled into existence above the Navi's head. Rayner reached out and swiped his good hand through the streams, sending a couple small clouds of data ballooning out from the main stream before rejoining the download line to the PET. Rayner regarded the spectacle around him, an air of amusement coloring his posture.

It was soon over and the Navi turned his attention to the pathway leading deeper into the tangled University Net. With his attention came his stride and soon the electric elemental Navi was in search of what he could only think of as his next class.

(Ready for Clas-er, Battle 3!)
Moving right along, Rayner quickly got away from the increasingly noisy music area and managed to find his way to a cooler, darker, quieter part of the DenTech net. The slow, measured sound of dripping water could be heard, and a faint rustling. A short way in front of the navi, a little hard to make out in the gloom, a small bush crouched. Large eyes blinked open, and the shrubby jumped up, startled, and raced back and to the side, hiding behind a strange two-layered stand. The ground level seemed to be a line of water, while above it, at chest height, a second line of panels was suspended, these ones fresh, fertile soil.

The shrubby chittered quietly, and a rustle from the other side answered; another similar rack stood across the other side of the area, and a second shrubby had been sleeping behind it, though it was very much awake now. the racks themselves looked to be some sort of hydroponic set up, since nestled in the soft soil of heir top layers, were two mushrooms, on the left, and a third alone in the rack on the right. They, too, had been sleeping peacefully, but they all woke up now. Startled by Rayner, they drew themselves up in their soil, then seemed to... exhale? A rush of growth expanded from each mushroom, covering their racks in fresh grass, and spilling down to turn the greater majority of the floor to grass as well. Only the water panels, directly beneath them, didn't get converted. If they were supposed to be growing peacefully, the fungus viruses seemed to be quite wrecking the hydroponics lab now.

Another shuffling sound announced the arrival of an oversized corn plant, that looked far happier than it ought to be at the sheer amount of new grass covering the room, and it began to bounce around on it with glee.

Horticulture class was in, and Rayner should probably get to the picking, plucking and pruning.

Dim lighting, check. Dripping water, check. Something sneaking around unseen? Also check! Rayner was starting to feel like he was walking into a horror movie. He slowed down considerably as he approached the bush, his claw arm sliding and rearranging itself into a basic buster. If something jumped out at him he was resolute to be prepared! He slunk into a half crouch and crept quietly closer.

Apparently, he wasn't quiet enough. The Shrubby's startled leap was echoed by one from Rayner, and the Navi stumbled back before catching his balance and straightening up. He pulled himself up right and watched the other viruses bring themselves together with a creeping feeling of despair. These weren't odds he liked, even if Joan had been awake and alert at the controls. With the number and type element advantage firmly on the side of the viruses, he should probably try to avoid a fight.

With that thought in mind he cleared his throat nervously and very deliberately dispelled his buster in an obvious and attention catching fashion before before spreading his arms wide to show he was unarmed. He attempted to make his posture non-threatening and instead surveyed the set up in front of him. The field was already set to the advantage of the viruses, who had both a type and number advantage on him. Yeah, he'd have to try talking his way out of this one. He cleared his throat a couple times as if to speak and, after a moments pause, he finally managed to do so.

"Heeey there fellas, and ladies, if any are present. I appear to have disturbed your nap time for which I apologize. My NetOp is actually napping!" A sleepy mumble that sounded vaguely like protest sounded from the other end of the PET, audible to all in the area. Rayner chuckled a bit and then promptly put the back of his good hand over where his mouth would be behind his mask. After a moment in which he could hear Joan shifting a bit in her chair he continued addressing the viruses. "Look, you've got a really neat set up here and if we fought it'd make a mess of this place and that would be a shame. I /really/ don't want to go back through Music, it is pretty hectic, and don't really want to pick a fight. I've got a bit of a headache and you seemed to be just fine napping away without harming any one. What do you say, can we reach a peaceful truce here? Hmm? No fighting just, chilling out?" Rayner abruptly realized he was babbling and shut up, a bit of pink appearing on the cheeks of his mask in his embarrassment. Really though, a pack of what were certainly wood-type viruses would be troublesome on a good day. Sure he'd still be willing to go up against them on a good day but now? Nope, too much risk and not enough potential reward.

Maybe, with a little luck, he'd be able to talk his way out of what could potentially be a bad situation. The Navi kept light on his toes though, prepared to tumble or run out of the way of any bad intentions that might be manifested and sent his way. He kept reminding himself to keep his movements slow and non-threatening, a small chant in the back of his head that he hoped would help him out in this situation.

2) Peace Talks pt2
3) Prepped: Dodge
While Rayner spent efforts to make himself as non-threatening as possible, it seemed quite clear that not all of the viruses were actually paying that much attention to him. Thoroughly roused from their dormancy, the Mushrooms seemed more intent on simply continuing to wreck the lab, each teleporting down from their racks onto the ground-level grass and escaping their old, water-fed lifestyle. The bombcorn, too, seemed more or less oblivious to his slow, gentle movements, content for the moment to bounce around on the grass, sometimes bumping into one of the racks and making them wobble.

Unfortunately, peace talks were probably a little bit over the head of the rather simple shrubbies, and between non-comprehension and startlement they did what shrubbbies generally do; one hid behind its rack, while the other blinked out to throw a heavy log rolling in Rayner's direction. It wasn't too hard to avoid, thankfully, though the log itself clipped the edge of the right hand rack, making it rock precariously as it came to a halt.

It looked like there was likely no talking to these particular viruses, but at the same time, they weren't all being immediately hostile towards him at once, which gave the outgunned electric navi some options, at least.

Rayner managed to skitter to the side fast enough the log merely rolled past him. With a somewhat grumpy snort he dropped his hands to his sides and then plotted.

"Neef tips?" The Navi's eyes narrowed for a moment at the weird question from his Op. Neef tips? What?

"Do you mean beef tips? For dinner?" He queried, keeping his voice down so the viruses who weren't paying attention to him would continue to be oblivious.

"Uff! Nooo." Joan licked her lips and then tried speaking again. It was difficult to pull her self out of her drowsy state but she had to try. "Neef chips!"

"Oh! You mean 'need chips'. Yes, yes please." Rayner landed a light palm strike against his forhead and then gave it a little shake. Still, while Joan was responding now he did mean what he had thought about his odds against this group. Static crackled across his scarf and suddenly the expression of the mask (what expression it could make being only eyes, nose, and the front four teeth of the top jaw) seemed delighted. He had his answer.

Chip data circled around his shoulders like a fragmented data and while neither was the guard he had been hoping for he did access one of them. A soft green light covered his body, soothing a few of the minor bruises he had sustained while learning music. The scent of peppermint clung to the Navi as the eyes on the mask closed for a moment and Rayner pulled in a deep breath. Abruptly the eyes snapped back open and the Navi made a charge for the log next to the hydroponic rack. Rayner slowed down to hop on the log and use it as a boost to scramble up to the very top of the hydroponics tanks. Climbing was made difficult by his claw hand but eventually he would hopefully be up and then sprinting along the tank away from this mess.

Even though it was only the shrubbies being violent for now, their particular attack method was disruptive enough to feel like there was a real ruckus going on. Rayner clambered up onto one of the racks, and both shrubbies tossed more logs at him as he moved along its length. Being ground-bound they only struck the rack, making it tilt and wobble in an alarming fashion, before finally tipping over with an horrendous crash.

Fortunately for the elecric navi, he managed to keep his balance all the way along, and successfully got clear past the end before the final fall. Safe to say the lab was a mess, but Rayner himself was getting out of there. One of the mushrooms, having been very nearly squashed by the falling apparatus, made to attack the fleeing Navi, teleporting close to him, but by the time it had blinked in, Rayner was already paces away, and moving further. It didn't take long before he managed to leave the dimly lit biology lab behind.

-=Escape Successful!=-
There was a large horrendous crash just after Rayner had landed on the ground. The Navi spared a glance back and then began sprinting even faster in his attempt to get away. He kept up his sprint until he turned a corner and then dropped to a ground eating stride that wasn't as fast but would let him get distance while being a little less taxing on his lungs. It could only help so much though.

Gasping for air Rayner slowed to a stop, leaning over to put his hands on his legs and just breath. His chest felt tight, his mask far too constricting. He reached up to grab the edge of his mask and began to lif-

"D'ya still need chips?" Rayner froze and then let the mask slip back down. Luckily from the volume he could tell Joan was still leaning back in her chair. He sighed and straightened up, forcing himself to look around.

"I might in a moment. Let me look around."

"M'kay."

An unfortunate truth of many educational facilities is that a certain two teaching environments are usually found quite close together. apparently, it was no different in DenTech's networks. Having ditched out on horticulture, Rayner found himself running headlong around the corner that led him straight into another classroom-style environment, only this one had a variety of larger work benches, rather than desks, and sinks on one side of the room. Glass cupboards contained a large selection of pots, pans, tins and dishes, and at one end of the class, something that looked vaguely like a cake recipe was detailed on the screen.

The cooking room was not empty, either, unfortunately. Two benches contained more Mushrooms that bobbed in place, having just turned their whole tabletops to grass. in front of them, a three large apples rested on one table, while a cob of corn jigged happily on the other. The corn in particular looked far too happy, considering it was in a kitchen.

At the corn's bench, a swordy faced it down, lining up carefully, then swinging a hefty cleave with its sword. The corn bounced happily out of the way, seemingly oblivious. The swordy tried again, and missed again. His class wasn't going well, it seemed. Across from him, a Zemon was apparently having much better luck, making first a long then a broad sweep, successfully dicing two of its apples. They promptly disintegrated into junk, however, leaving him no better off than the swordy.

All of this was interrupted, however, as Rayner made the scene. The two blade-wielding viruses turned on him, equally frustrated that their cooking incompetence had been witnessed, while the fresh produce in the room also, apparently, decided that prying eyes needed to be dealt with. the one remaining apple popped open, revealing the green body of the virus it actually was, while the Bombcorn.... continued to bounce back and forth with oblivious glee. Either this one and the one from the horticulture lab came from the same source, or maybe they were all just like that? In the back row, the Mushrooms may have been about to do something more offensive than bobbing in place, but were distracted as their grassy benches glowed, then quickly refreshed themselves to a clear, normal surface.

From bad to worse, it seemed like the electric navi was stuck in the green-life section of DenTech, though one feature of the room that seemed less unfriendly than the rest: against the the far wall, in between each of the wash sinks, some rather more tasty fresh ingredients sat waiting. Four in total, the little red fruit looked quite enticing, actually.

Out of one plant infested area and into another it seemed! Ah well, at least here the plants didn't have a constant field advantage. They still had numbers on their side but maybe he'd be able to pull through.

"Joaaaan! Wake up! I hate to interrupt your shut-eye but I'm going to need you awake for this." Joan groaned and stirred, sitting up and rubbing her eyes in irritation.

"Wasn't the idea of this that I wouldn't have to open my eyes for this?" It was clear she was irritable, it showed in voice and the way she roughly shuffled her used chip pile back into the unused pile. "Is this a continuation of the previous fight or what?"

Rayner winced slightly at her tone but then he was back to watching the movements of the viruses. "It's not a continuation, I fled from the last one because the set up was worse than this although..." He paused, a hand resting on the bottom edge of his mask as he contemplated. At least then he had Sea panels to boost his electric attacks, and what had probably been permanent grass to boost the move of his fire chip. Then again it was fire chip, singular. He could probably still make use of tendency of grass to go up in flames, he'd just have to time it right. Overall it was looking like perhaps he should have stayed with that first fight. Especially when not all of the viruses had been looking at him funny. He scratched at the back of his neck, unpleased with the way his thoughts kept going back and forth on debating on which side of favor, good or bad, he had fallen in that particular situation.

"Hmm, that's good. I probably should have waited for an answer before shuffling the chips together." Rayner would have face palmed but he was more worried by the way his NetOp sounded so drained. She also apparently didn't notice him trailing off at all. Rayner could faintly hear the scritch of chips against the surface of the table and after a brief moment two were slotted in. "Don't know what I gave you but hope it helps."

"Don't know what you gave me..? The whole point of me yelling at you was so you'd wake up and help out here, c'mon now!" Rayner tried to bargain, his voice sounding almost a little whiny in his displeasure. "This is a great chance for you to work on your Net Battling skills!" Maybe if he made it sound convincing enough she would bite. At least he had chips though. As he spoke he could feel the data from the first one streaming into his conciousness. From the unfamiliarity of it he guessed it was one of the new chips, but which one? He accessed the data and gave a wave of his claw, the action seeming to casually open a portal that sparked with electricity. Rayner stepped away from the hole in the Net and stared as a rather familiar shape came bouncing out. "Welp, wasn't expecting that." The Melody turned towards him and bounced excitedly in its spot, the little tail on it wagging much like the tail of a dog. Rayner crouched down, patting the music note on the head with happy arches appearing on his mask. "Who's a good little music note? You are? Are you? Yesss, now go get 'em!" He flung his arm towards the Wood based viruses and quickly rose to his feet as well.

With a single tone that almost sounded like a bark the little music note virus was off, promptly beginning to bounce about the field in an attempt to land on Rayner's foes. Unfortunately with how excitable it was, Rayner wasn't sure if it'd be able to actually hit anything. Ah well, at least he had an ally.

With that thought in mind Rayner began to move, standing up and taking a few running strides before dropping to the tiles and rolling forwards. As he rolled light glowed around his right arm and it changed from claw to gun. Little vents along the sides occasionally released little blasts of flame and heat, and the look on Rayner's mask was well pleased as he came up from his roll and almost immediately dropped to a crouch. Twin green cursors appeared in his eyes, tracking his prey. "This is how I like my meals!" He declared, and promptly released a blast of flame from the end of his weapon, all the little vents popping open and releasing a small cloud of smoke in front of him.

Distressed by the removal of their neat beds of grass, both the mushrooms draw themselves up and send out a burst of spores that propels two grass seeds about halfway up the room, causing a broad swath of grass to cover the desks (and floor) where the other viruses are. They both quickly teleport onto the fresh grass, taking up positions by the walls on either side, with something that could be counted as small sighs of relief.

Rayner summons an already very excitable melody and proceeds to hype it up even more than usual, before turning it loose on the assembled viruses. Perhaps it was the karma of the previous notes' terrible luck, or maybe stupendously excessive excitement was the way to go with melodies, but for a wonder it bounded directly at the Zemon, flattening it to the panel with a gleeful chime just as the other virus was about to swing its sword. The note bounded on, leapfrogging to the apple virus behind, and though it missed its mark there, this didn't stop it from making another leap at the Mushy nearby. It landed right on the spooked mushroom's cap and compressed the virus slightly, before being sprung back up in the air. This seemed to please the Melody no end and it made a few more happy little chimes while it was airborne as it sought to continue bouncing on the springy virus. Unfortunately for the Melody, one good bounce was all the mushroom had in it, and when it came down again its fun springboard simply went very, very flat underneath it.

The Melody made a sharp, confused note, and jigged once or twice on the squished mushroom, to no avail, then looked around itself to see what had happened. As a last resort it looked back up to Rayner, somewhat like a puppy that had punctured its favourite ball, before the chip's energy finally ran out and the note faded away.

The Zemon picked itself up, grumbling unintelligibly as it shook itself off, then immediately launched into a fast double swing at Rayner to pay him back for the note-induced indignation. The electric navi was already dodge-rolling into position for his own attack, and the first swipe missed, but busy aiming his own strike, Rayner wasn't able to avoid the second which scored a light stroke across his back (-10)

It was, however, worth taking the hit, as he unleashed the burning heatshot right in the face of the two wood element viruses. Both were currently standing on the freshly made grass, and altogether that was an great deal of amplified fire that rushed towards the pair. The swordy, in particular, had just blinked in front of Rayner to swing its bamboo sword, and caught the blast at full force before it could deliver the blow, while the Bombcorn behind, still wondrously oblivious, and now super enthusiastic about being on grass again, didn't even seen the roar of flame coming its way. There as a sound like a great many small firecrackers going off, and when the flames cleared the bench top was covered in a sizable pile of fresh, white popcorn, which was busy spilling off the counter and onto the floor.

The AppleSamu was apparently displeased by this turn of events, and launched a bevy of grass seeds towards the other bench area, and Rayner. They re-spawned all the burned grass, and one of the seeds managed to clock Rayner directly in the temple where it tried, briefly, to take root for a few seconds, before his code managed to reject it (-30).

With all of these terrain shenanigans, the classroom's sanitisers kicked in again, sending a brief glow over every surface in the room and returning it to normal. The one remaining mushroom, predictably, freaked out again, uttering a shrill squeak.

Pain sliced across Rayner's back and hot air blasted his face. Kernels popping into delicious snack food filled the air, but it couldn't quite cover the loud 'thawck' of a seed slamming into middle of his mask's forehead. At first it only staggered the Navi, he took a step back and then a couple forwards to retort and abruptly doubled over as pain bloomed suddenly as the seed attempted to overwrite his coding. Both hands rose to clutch at the seed as a patch of grassy green slowly began to spread across the skull mask. Rayner hissed, his voice a snarl as he clutched at the offending transmitter of data.

"Never. Again." The words had the ring of a promise self-made and long kept, and it seemed the Elec-type's determination to stick to it gave his coding the boost it need. There was a sound like splintering glass and then the seed shattered as Rayner's code rejected it and the changes it had sought to wrought upon his framework. The green patch began to reverse, slowly and steadily back towards the cracked hole that the seed left behind. Rayner looked up from the floor at the offending virus with a look that clearly displayed his rage through the fingers and claws obscuring his face. He straightened slowly, pulling the scarf from his waist with a yank. Electricity crackled up and down the garment, little arcs of charged electrons leaping from one end to the other. The bright green symbols seemed to shine and the crackling seemed to get worse. Rayner slid a foot back and to the side, rotating his body to follow as his eyes kept contact on the two aggressive viruses. Green light flared in his eyes, calculations and comparions flashed in his head, and then he whipped his arm and body around and flung the static charged scarf towards the apple virus. Rayner wasn't done but his next move would require a bit of help.

"Chips Joan." The NetOp frowned in her pseudo-rest, fingers obligingly reaching for the little squares of plastic and data. Her fingers pulled the first two they encountered from the pile and promptly slide them in. She did crack an eye open to look at the screen. She had never heard Rayner sound so angry before. Was this her fault?

"You alright there buddy?" The chip data swirled down in a multi-colored spiral to wrap around the Navi's mechanical arm. "Yooou sound pretty ticked. This isn't about earlier is it?" Rayner shook his head, downloading the first chip data into his arm and then sending it swirling into the palm of his more humanoid arm. Twin spherical balls of matte black with a bright yellow stripe appeared, unlike earlier the previous targeting simulations didn't pop up as well. Rayner was certain he had enough of a feel for the weight and the way the bombs reacted with the air of the Net that he didn't need to rely on that anymore. The Navi wound up, then pitched the balls like a pair of baseballs. They had been a bit awkward to hold but Rayner was able to get both of them into the air at the same time, if one didn't make it than oh well. Pulling the next chip data into his mechanical arm and then splitting it evenly between both, Rayner figured he might as well offer Joan some reassurance.

"Nah, one of these guys just decided to piss me off in a bad way." Watched the bombs explode messily wasn't a perfect cure for his problems, but it did help. A quick glance around showed the Red Fruit chilling at the far wall and the Navi's eyes narrowed in a way that would go perfectly with a smirk. He flexed the claws on his hands and then broke into a sprint towards the sinks. His voice had lightened up a little, some of the earlier anger had bled out after watching the destruction he had wrought on the countertop if not on the viruses themselves. Now it was time for a little fun. "You can close your eyes again if you want, I believe I've got everything here about ready to wrap up." His voice was much kinder than the angry demand from earlier, he did feel a bit bad about making his NetOp stop resting for what was essentially turning out to be not that big of a deal.

"Mmm, alright. Remind me to stick some pain killers in my purse so I don't have this problem again." The NetOp settled back in her chair, considering the the battlefield her Navi was fighting on and the pile of chips in front of her. Perhaps there was a way to set-up support for Rayner that didn't require her to be paying attention? That'd be nice, it would let him wander the Nets more often and she knew he got bored in the PET.

Static Snag - 2 Turns[/b]
Recovering quickly from the aggressive grass seed, Rayner was swift to respond to the AppleSamu's assault. As fate would have it though, ill-luck felt like wrecking his day, and an errant gust of breeze ripped through the classroom just as he released the static-laden scarf, very nearly blowing it back in his own face. He was lucky enough that it didn't actually hit him, but that really didn't seem like much luck, all things considered.

More than anything else, the AppleSamu seemed aggravated by the consistent purging of its grassy terrain, and it launched another volley of seeds over the area, and in Rayner's general direction. It seemed like the fates were being unilaterally cruel though, because by a sheer fluke of the scatter, despite the density and saturation of pellets, none of the the little grass bombs hit him directly, instead spreading a wide swathe of fresh grass across the nearest bench, and under his feet.

The mushroom, relieved to have some natural terrain again, teleported up next to Rayner, on the side of the other viruses, and exhaled a broad cloud of disorienting spores, engulfing, well, everyone, in the choking fume. Rayner himself got a face full of the spore dust (-30, Confuse) but he wasn't the only one. The Zemon managed to avoid the worst of the cloud, but, ironically, the AppleSamu began to cough and splutter. The Mushroom looked back towards the barren table it came from, contemplated teleporting back there, and decided, unsurprisingly, to stay right where it was for now, on the grass.

This meant, of course, that when Rayner lobbed his twin bombs, there were three viruses inside the blast range, rather than two, though it seemed unlikely the navi would be unhappy about this. As it was, this first bomb was fairly accurate, Managing to hit both the Zemon and the, quite surprised, Mushy, though it didn't manage to clip the Apple virus at all. The second, however, did what the first couldn't, and landed directly in the middle of the three, catching them all.

When the smoke cleared, the Zemon was nowhere to be seen, and the Mushy and Apple had both acquired a distinctly blackened and charred look. The strong scents of cooking mushrooms and baked apple joined the fading scent of fresh popcorn in the air. These two viruses, though, still had a little bit of fight left in them, and they tried to shake themselves off as Rayner raced past, making for the tasty, tasty fruits.

Then the classroom's sanitisers activated again, and the mushroom let out another highly distressed shriek as its precious grass was, once more, removed. It was turning into a highly distressed fungus.

Rayner wasn't having a very good time this fight. Granted, he hadn't really been having an easy time in any of his previous fights in this area but this one was by far the worst. Despite his mask he still coughed and gagged on the spores of the Mushy, but at least he had managed to make it to the Red Fruit! The mask blinked several times, the eyes on front changing size randomly, and in a manner entirely separate from each other. Chip data materialized in a swirling cloud of data particles around him, only adding to the confusion. Rayner swayed on his feet as the world went in and out of focus, randomly with no consideration for whether or not the parts that were going out of focus were the same distance away from him as the parts that were coming into focus!

"Hrrk." Rayner sloppily throw a hand over his face as he dropped to his knees, eyes tightly closed. The sight of everything changing focus so suddenly made him feel sick to his stomach and he gagged. He felt awful, spores clung to his clothes his equilibrium was thrown off, but he had a job to do. He hadn't been made to sit around feeling sorry for himself so with great reluctance he pushed himself in the direction he knew up should be.

And found his front side falling to land with thump on the panels beneath him. He lifted his head slowly, still dizzy and confused and when had the AppleSamu moved over here?! Rayner panicked and hacked at the fruit in front of him with his clawed right hand, attempting to slice and dice his opponent into tiny shreds before more of those blasted seeds could be launched. After a moment of flailing he paused, staring awkwardly at the spot in front of him because hadn't he come over here to poke at something else that had been red and fruit shaped..?

"Oh." The Redfruit. Right, that had been the thing against the far wall he had charged at. Rayner groaned at his actions and covered his face with his arm again, this time out of embarrassment at his actions. At least no one was watching to see how uncool he was acting. With another, louder groan he pushed himself to his feet again and teetered around in a circle, eyes mostly closed as he attempt to reorient himself so the wall was at his back. He peeked through his fingers at another red shape and moved quickly. The chip data was dragged forcibly and messily into his arm, resulting in what looked like only the bare-outlines of a cannon taking shape over his hand. Electricity arced and crackled down his arm into the cannon and was then abruptly released from the other end as a blast of hastily aimed non elemental damage. Wait, what? Non elemental?

Rayner could only scratch his head at that but it'd have to be a mental scratching because he could hear more movement! He closed his eyes as spun, managing the action in a messy and almost off-balance way as he turned towards the noise makers and found yet another red shape! Wait, this one had a mushroom shape next to it? What had he fired at before...? The cloud of chip data still hadn't disappeared but Rayner opted not to access it, instead covering his eyes again and flinging himself back down to the floor in an attempt to wait for the damned weird nonsense going on with his eyes to quit. Hopefully it wouldn't last much longer.

3) Hit the deck! (Dodge)
Confusion reigned in the kitchen. In fact, it rather poured.

Near the fruit, Rayner attacked what he thought was his opponent, only to sink his claws into a deliciously tasty fruit, which immediately chased back through his coding and restored a large portion of his resilience. Across from him, the the mushroom, thoroughly stressed and overwrought by the constant removal of its comfy grass terrain, tried to flee, only to be thrown back by some sort of barrier at the door.

It fell backwards and landed on its cap, base wriggling about in the air indignantly, while a smooth electronic voice advised everyone present that no produce was permitted to leave the kitchens unless requested by staff.

The AppleSamu turned about and shrank down into its casing again, but immediately popped back up. It looked like it was trying to spit more seeds, but nothing seemed to come out. Rayner tried his best to take aim at something else he thought was a foe. It was really another fruit, but by the luck of his confused targeting, the canon shot he eventually fired careened off in a different direction, and by ironic fluke struck the actual AppleSamu squarely in the face as it continued trying to spread seeds. It exploded in a burst of viral data, but a portion of it settled over the beleaguered, upended mushroom by the door, causing it to to pop back up with an audible 'sproing!'. The revived mushroom actually seemed far more confused about this than anyone else in the room, and that was really saying something right about now.

At the very least, Rayner was feeling healthier than he had a short while ago, and his confusion was quickly clearing up. All told, those haphazard few moments could have gone a lot worse.

Luck had apparently decided to make up for deserting Rayner earlier, rewarding him instead with a wave of good tidings. As his eyesight returned to normal and the dizziness left him the electric Navi realized he felt much better. A quick glance behind showed him that he had indeed managed to successfully land his hits on a Redfruit, and the AppleSamu was no where to be seen. The Mushy seemed hell-bent on trying to find itself some more grass. Well, maybe he could help with that.

Rayner approached the Mushy calmly, confident in his ability to deal with the solo virus. The data that had previously haloed his neck streamed into his mechanical arm, reinforcing and shifting the skeletal framework of the cannon into a cage of copper that terminated in the muzzle of a cannon. Rayner reached the limits of his chip's range and stopped, planting his feet and bringing his arm up. The green cursors appeared in his eyes and they immediately began tracking after the happily bounding virus. A blue flash announced successful lock. Rayner planted his feet and brought his arm up to bear on the virus. His eyes narrowed and he sucked in a deep breath and held it, muscles tensing to fire.

The breath was released slowly and the gun stayed steady. Rayner had a distinctly unamused look on his face even as he remembered something as recently as this fight. There had been another bouncy virus who hadn't been aggressive. Granted that one had come from a chip but... With an unpleasant look on his face Rayner dropped his arm and sighed heavily, reaching up to scratch carefully at the back of his neck with his other, still clawed hand. The quickest way to end this was through violence but maybe he could try something else...? It was worth a shot at least.

"Hey! Bouncy thing!" He hollered, waving his clawed arm about in an attempt to attract the virus's attention. "Look, I can see all you want is to hop about on the grass. This area won't allow you to do that and you can't leave through the door. I can send you to somewhere you can jump on the grass all you want without it disappearing. It's called the Virus Zoo. They'll give you somewhere to play on the grass all day and I guess make sure you're fed..? Do you even need feeding..?" Rayner shook his head, realizing he was starting to wander off track. "Look, if you go to the Zoo you can live peacefully, so how about it? They'll remove your ability to inflict hurt, but you'll be able to live happily on the grass all you want and you won't be turned into food." Had they really been trying to turn the viruses into food? He scratched the back of his neck again and waited for the Mushy's response.

--Summarry--
1) Movement (approach Mushy)
2-3) Attempt peaceful interaction
With the battle all but concluded, Rayner approached the last virus more cautiously and watched its futile attempts to get out of the overly sanitary kitchen. While he locked sights on it, the poor thing against attempted to teleport out beyond the doorway, and was once more ejected back to its start point by the thin red field that glowed over the exit. It made a sound that could only be distress and turned back to see Rayner standing over it.

It's reaction at first, was to exhale a small spore cloud, but it was a much smaller ring than usual, and only surrounded the mushy itself; in this position it looked more like a 'stay back' gesture than an attack. Was it... shaking? In fairness, this was the navi that had just handily obliterated all the other food produce, AND the potential cooks in very short order, so it continued to huddle by the doorframe and do nothing as he spoke.

The offer made it look up at him, uncertain. As far as viruses went, the mushroom strain couldn't be said to be the most intelligent of them, but it comprehended that the navi had lowered its weapon, and that he seemed to be offering it a way out of its current stressful death-trap, somehow. It hesitated even so, but after a few more moments of Rayner distinctly -not- deleting it, it took a small hop towards him, peeking up from under its cap hopefully. If the navi could offer it a link that would let it leave here, and go somewhere else, it would accept it. Indeed, if Rayner did link the virus out to the Zoo, that would handily bypass the kitchen's produce containment wall.

Assuming the navi didn't suddenly change his mind, the battle was won and the class was over... though he might want to wait a few moments until after the mushy was safely away, before claiming his spoils from the remains of the other viruses. In the meantime, there were still a few fruit around, and he had enough time to sneak a bite of another one, if he felt like it.
