While normally Martia would've given her new acquaintance a nice friendly greeting, her efforts were foiled by some unknown person giving Kaveri orders. Considering what she'd figured out a moment ago, that seemed kinda weird, but just because she was unoperated, or as good as such, didn't mean she couldn't have contacts, she supposed.
Any and all train of thought was then nicely broken up as her definitely caring operator spoke up. "Not a people Navi, is she?"
"To be fair, you can be kinda gruff, yourself..."
"Hey, I'm blunt, not gruff! Big difference there."
"Uh-huh. Well-" Before she could proceed with some gentle mockery, the pink clad Navi noticed the other heading off. She lightly ran over to her, and suddenly found herself whisked away as a link portal. Luckily, being a Navi meant she had routines for this sort of thing, and flew through without missing a beat.
She soon gently landed at the other end, and immediately drew her attention to the building with the giant leak. Even by Net standards, that was downright strange. "That...is just not normal."
"No. No it is not."
"But..." Notably, the water it was spewing was ignoring the usual panel layout. Which meant one thing. "We've definitely found the source, don't you think?"
Unfortunately, there was no time to contemplate exactly how to make a giant plug, as what looked like a giant Nautilus popped out of the water. That...was also not normal. At least it was missing its bubble. "What the...?! How did a regular virus get that big?"
"What. The. Crap. That thing is huge! And, what's with the smoke coming out of it?"
"That I don't know, but it probably isn't good..."
"Well, your new friend's right about one thing. Whether it caused the flooding or not, you can't do a damn thing until you deal with it!...Speaking of which, you wanna try to reason with it?"
Martia frowned, since she knew the answer, and didn't like it. "...No, it doesn't look like the listening type. I don't think there's much a choice but to fight it..."
"Well, that's fine with me! Even if it's not the main problem, it's perfectly willing to be a pain in the ass for everyone else, and that does NOT fly with me!"
"I know, and I'm all ready. I mean, if we can't fix that, who knows how bad it'll get?"
"Exactly! ...But, how'd a giant Nautilus get in here, anyway? They don't seem like a DenTech kind of virus."
"We'll worry about that after we beat it! All right, here we go, Kaveri!"
"All right, when someone has that big a size advantage over their opponent, if you can give them a powerful blow they don't expect, they often end up reeling, and some never really recover from it."
"Yes, I'm well aware of that."
"Well, that's the strategy we're using! Hit hard, hit fast!" And for that, a certain BattleChip would more than suffice. "BattleChip, GolemHit! Slot in!"
Martia's hand gained a gray aura, which she quickly clenched into a fist, and punched the ground. At first, it seemed as though nothing was happening...but a large stone hand soon formed above the battlefield, and dropped from the heavens, down towards the giant cephalopod. It'd have quite the cephalache if it managed to connect, as giant rocks often induced. Normally, it'd also destabilize the area's ground, but given the source of the water...well, she really doubted that'd matter.
"All right, we don't know exactly what it'll do, so we won't go too overboard with attacking. But we can still take advantage of the elements!" Granted, they could've taken better advantage if they hadn't just used their fancy Elec element Cross, but how were they supposed to know they'd be fighting a giant aquatic thing? "BattleChip, Thunder! Slot in!"
After standing up, the pink fighter Navi extended a palm, and a ball of electricity rapidly formed in front of it. Once it was about the size of her head, she gave it a gentle nudge, causing it to move forward a rapid pace...by Thunder standards, anyway. It was still pretty slow, honestly. But, hitting a (presumably) water-based foe while in the water would make it more than worth it. Though, it wouldn't be the first time it managed to screw that up...
"Yeah, that's gonna be it for us. Your friend can add on if she wants, but if she's a solo Navi, we really should try to take most of the attacks. I mean, you've got a PET to head back to if you screw up, but she might not, you know? And on that note..." Defense chip, in! "BattleChip, Barrier! Slot in!"
With that, a blue sphere surrounded Martia, existing solely so it could take damage instead of Martia, who in turn could well take damage instead of Kaveri. To help with that, she hopped up and down and waved her arms, to get the creature's attention. Naturally, this also caused certain areas of her to move up and down, though unless her busting partner had certain similarities with her operator, that was unlikely to have any impact on anything. "Hey, big guy! Look at me! I'm a big target with this around me! You should hit me!" Of course, if it DID try to hit her, she knew enough to try and get out of the way. She wasn't suicidal.
The jumping caused Leslie to narrow her eyes, and stare at her PET screen. She was clearly thinking about something, but... "Ya know...random thought. Why don't you ever wear a bra?"
The question made the currently operated Navi freeze, and look back at the display of her operator. "You know I don't like to be restricted in movement in any way. And...I can't believe you actually talked about putting more clothes on!"
The operator gave her Navi a genuinely bewildered look. "...What? I'm not horny 24/7! What's wrong with looking out for a friend?! My brain isn't in my pants, ya know!"
The indignant response made Martia snicker, in part because at times Leslie's claim was hard to back up. Still, it was always heartening to know she was more than eye candy. She was a true friend. And that was something she was going to make a point to appreciate more, after earlier.

Martia might have had time to register, just before her opening attack, a large bubble materializing around the Nautilus-like virus just as she launched her opening attack. If not, then the only indication of it before it burst would be the fact that it completely absorbed the force of the stone fist falling on it. The fist, of course, still managed to punch through the water, but just as Martia predicted, it didn't actually do much to the panel network. Her next attack was more effective, hoping in on the flying virus and sending electricity through its body on impact. While it certainly looked to have hit a weakness, the water underneath didn't seem to contribute much to the damage dealt.
"Still a Nautilus, I see. However big it is," Kaveri remarked, not commenting on the water's lack of impact. While Martia continued by putting up a barrier and calling attention to herself, Kaveri dropped into a fighting stance, shifting her weight onto her back leg and raising her hands in a guard.
Unfortunately, a martial arts stance did little to defend against the Aggronaut's opening attack. As the arcing remains of the Thunder attack finally disappeared, a pair of missiles flew out of the still smoking opening in its shell, one aimed at each of its opponents. The one aimed at Martia collided with her barrier, dispersing it but leaving her unharmed, but Kaveri was left with no protection against the blast.
So it was fortunate that she could move fast enough to dodge. She angled out just before the missile hit, slipping past it. Then, taking advantage of the opening, she rode a wave of water in towards the Aggronaut and let it wash over the virus. A large tentacle whipped out of the inside of the Aggronaut's shell to swing at Kaveri, but she managed to minimize the damage by shielding her body with her hands, and countered with a straight punch.
Which, of course, the Aggronaut managed to dodge. A jet of water shot out of the side of its shell, pushing it out of melee range. Apparently deciding that Kaveri wasn't a threat when it could easily get out of her range, it turned its focus back to Martia and attacked with a barrage of gunfire. Fortunately for Martia, she also managed to dodge, leaving them all right about where they started. Well, minus a couple chips and some damage on the giant virus.
Kaveri called back to Martia, saying "Looks like ranged attacks and anything that's fast and covers a lot of ground are our best bet. Got any more of those?"

Let's see...things she learned. First, it could protect itself like a normal Nautilus. Second, it could fire missiles. Didn't see that one coming. Third, Kaveri was more than capable of defending herself, it seemed. Which was a relief, since if something happened to her, and she was indeed a solo Navi, she wasn't sure she could live with herself. With all that in mind, Martia readied herself for the next round of combat.
So, ranged and fast moves worked best. Not many of her moves were particularly speedy, per se, but ranged...well, for a close ranged specialist, she had a lot of long range punches. "Oh, don't worry, I've got a few of those! C'mon, Leslie, how about sending over a couple of 'em?"
"Guess it's a good thing I agree with your new friend, huh?" Otherwise, her Navi would be real disappointed real quick...but instead, she casually inserted a criteria meeting chip into her PET. "BattleChip, MeteorKnuckle! Slot in!"
The fighter Navi's hands clenched into fists, causing a white aura to surround them. She took a deep breath, and...right cross! Left hook! Right upper! A fist-shaped projection shot forth from each blow, infused with the power of justice and good. It wouldn't surprise her if it got up its bubble barrier before they connected...but that's why there were three fists traveling at it, and not one.
"All right, now let's make some calamari!...Wait, that's squid. What would you call a cooked nautilus? ...Great, now I could go for some calamari..."
"Focus, Leslie!"
"Relax, I'm just thinking out loud!" Well, that, and she'd somehow managed to knock over the chip she wanted to use, and needed a moment to stall for time. Hey, even martial artists weren't immune to occasional clumsiness. "All right, here! BattleChip, FireHit! Slot in!"
The sacred white aura from Martia's hands faded, to make way for the fact her hands were now literally on fire. Or at least, that's what normally would've happened. This time, it was actually her feet that were aflame. As one might expect, she reared back slightly, then launched a basic kick forward with her right leg. The fire covering her boot separated from it, and shot forward to try and fry up some giant Nautilus. From there, she allowed herself to fall on that foot, and used the forward momentum to do a frontflip, delivering an axe kick with her left foot as she returned to being right side up. This launched a second fireball at the huge virus. And, that should be good for now, right? At the very least, she needed to make sure she could avoid at least one attack, and not just get slammed around. After all, the last thing she wanted was to get caught up in its tentacles...she'd been in the internet long enough to know that for girls like her, that ended very, very badly.
So yep, she was definitely keeping limber, and evading.

No sooner had the Aggronaut's water barrier gone up again than Martia punched straight through it with a series of projected punches. The first shattered the barrier, while the other two projections connected directly with the shellfish's...well, shell. It responded by attacking at range as well, with another burst of gunfire. Although Martia was unable to dodge this time, as it turned out, the gunfire wasn't very accurate and only a few shots hit her, dealing minor damage. Martia then immediately went into another combo, this time with a double kick empowered by being on fire.
Unfortunately, 'empowered' was probably not the key word, as the kicks did considerably less than they otherwise would have. In fact, they only did about half of what they otherwise would have. Perhaps the 'water' the Aggronaut and now Martia were in was to blame? And speaking of which, didn't the building it was flowing out of used to be closer?
Seeing the weakened attacks as well, Kaveri offered an explanation. "That's a special coolant fluid you're standing in," she said, jumping in as well and running along the surface to avoid being left behind. "Made for some of the larger net servers. Fire and heat aren't going to work too well with it." She returned to her stance on top of the water, drawing back one hand, then thrust it towards the Aggronaut, palm open. Of course, the Aggronaut was nowhere near melee range, but a wave of water shot from Kaveri's palm, striking the Nautilus with a satisfying impact. She followed it up with a one-two combo of her own, using the flowing river to her advantage as she ran towards the shellfish, easily avoiding another burst of gunfire in the process. As she reached the Aggronaut, she slammed her fist into it, then let her momentum carry her through into a second attack, a jump kick accompanied by a loud kiai. Both attacks pushed the Aggronaut back, closer to Martia, but it remained focused on Kaveri as it unleashed a torrent of water at her. It rose up like a wave over the river and traveled surprisingly fast for fighting against the current to hit Kaveri directly.
The Nautilus then followed up with another missile launch. Martia managed to evade it again, but Kaveri was forced to take the blow head-on. Despite the heavy hits, however, it looked like she was still in the fight. "If it tries to move again, I'll send it your way. You'd better be ready for it."

...Coolant? That would've been nice to know before she did that...but, a little late to worry about that now. Two other things struck Martia as odd: first, the monster seemed to be favoring the other Navi. Kaveri could handle herself, of course, but it seemed weird that she herself was barely getting the time of day. And second...since when did she end up in this coolant stuff? All the stuff she'd just done was ranged...maybe she got closer to it than she realized when doing that double kick attack? It was the only explanation that even made remote sense. At least it didn't seem particularly toxic as long as she was just standing in it like she was. Just...it was very good at pushing her along, even while just standing normally, like those one-way streets that occasionally popped up on the Net.
"Well, so long as that stuff doesn't eat hair or anything, you're fine for now, I guess. ...Anything you want? I can't really think of anything that'd be super useful right now."
"Actually, I just got an idea!" The last thing Kaveri said...it made her realize that she was presently in the perfect position to do something. Without taking her eyes off the Aggronaut, she started to side step, until the other Navi couldn't be seen due to the giant virus-like entity. Yep, that would do very nicely. Very nicely, indeed. "All right, Leslie, GutsPunch time!"
"GutsPu...oh, I see." Despite others occasionally thinking she was due to her passion in life, one thing Leslie was not was stupid. Thick, yes, but not stupid. But this time, her Navi's plan was pretty clear. "Have fun with it! BattleChip, GutsPunch! Slot in!"
The martial artist's gloves turned black, and most of it, aside from the fingers, gained a hard yellow covering. She clenched her fists, and..."All set here! Let it have it whenever you're ready!" With that, she braced herself, and played the waiting game. It was only a matter of time until that thing moved...and Kaveri would send it her way. And then, BAM! A strong right punch. Normally, if it landed, it'd knock it back a bit, but the current would help that not happen. And that's when...WHAM! A left hook. And again, it wouldn't be knocked back very far. So then...SLAM! A right uppercut to finish the combo. Even in a worst case scenario, that would probably do it. Then she could get out of the coolant, and back onto dry land, and thank goodness she didn't have to worry about her outfit staining, thanks to being a Navi.

For a few seconds, the Aggronaut just kind of floated there, while everyone was pushed downstream. While it waited, Kaveri took the opportunity to prepare herself, closing her eyes and summoning a veil of water around her body. It flowed up from the coolant river, swirling around her in thin steams then spreading out across an invisible surface to form a barrier. Unfortunately, that exact moment was when the Aggronaut moved.
With unusually specific timing, it tucked its tentacles into its shell, began rolling on the surface of the river, and charged straight at the new position Martia had taken up. Its shell slammed headlong into her, knocking her back and most likely down as well. Then it bounced right back, this time moving towards Kaveri.
Now, however, Kaveri was ready. She intercepted the giant shellfish, striking it with a series of light but fast blows then finishing with a side kick that sent the shellfish flying right back towards Martia with ridiculous force. It attempted to fire off a volley of missiles as it was sent flying, but even though Kaveri braced herself for a hit both of them went wild and crashed harmlessly onto either shore. And then, it collided straight with Martia's fist, breaking its momentum as she attempted to knock it back in the other direction. Sure enough, though, it didn't get far at all and Martia was able to quickly follow up with another punch.
By this point, the Aggronaut's shell was already breaking from the repeated blows, but neither navi was done yet. As Martia wound up for the finisher, Kaveri jumped in for one of her own. Her fists became coated in what looked like iron as she drove one into the Aggronaut, hitting at the same time as Martia's uppercut. The giant virus broke apart on the spot from the simultaneous blows, and dissolved into data fragments that began drifting away along the river.

"Thanks for the help," she said. "I can get ENA to send you wherever you're going next, if you want. And if you can stand to get thrown through one of her portals again."

Once the Aggronaut's remains drifted away, Kaveri jumped to the nearer shore, braced herself on it, and held out a hand for Martia to grab if she needed it to get out. "Thanks for the help," she said. "I can get ENA to send you wherever you're going next, if you want. And if you can stand to get thrown through one of her portals again."

And thus was the giant Nautilus-like monster destroyed. Somehow, Martia felt an immense sense of relief from that. She happily accepted Kaveri's assistance, and returned to the world of dry land. Of course, there were consequences for her falling in there...from the chest down, what little looseness there was in her outfit was completely gone, making it look like little more than body paint. "Not a problem! I'm just happy I could help out!"
"Yep, it's kinda what we do!" Of course, for Leslie, this particular instances ended up with some extra perks. Not that she was going to bring it up, lest her Navi realize it and dry off. "So, how far off course did you get?"
"Um, let me check." A map of the area came up before the wet martial artist. "Let's see. I think we were abut here originally. And now we're...here. And if our destination is here...huh. We didn't really lose much ground in the end!"
"Huh, that's pretty lucky." While her Navi was preoccupied with other things, her operator got around to scooping up their allotment of the reward. The money was nice, and...chip data? Let's see...BubbleWrap. Didn't look too shabby. The news just kept getting better.
With that, Martia turned back to the other Navi, who hopefully wasn't too put off by a busty lady Navi so drenched that the term skin tight probably didn't quite cover it. "Thanks for the offer, but I'm actually not too far from my destination, so I'll just walk. ...I guess I should get going, so I can actually get there before my operator falls asleep. Take care, okay?" With that, she started on her trek again, this time confident that she'd get there without interruption.

As it turned out, her confidence was well-founded, as she now stood before DenTech's virtual archives. There probably wasn't a Navi around that could store all of the knowledge held within here. But, there was a much more basic question on her mind at the moment. "Is it just me, or is it getting colder?"
"Well, you did take a dip in some cooling solution. It's not really surprising."
"I guess...but, brr!" Despite her outfit's best efforts to previously hide it, the large bumps on her chest now each had a smaller bump protruding from their front. "...You know, can I just bookmark here, and we can check it out tomorrow? I'm freezing, and you're probably exhausted."
"Yeah, I'm beat. It's been a long day." A big yawn emphasized the point. "Go ahead and do that. We'll check it out some other time."
"Roger that!" Fortunately, since the library was such a big landmark, it was easy to set up a proper link to it. "All done. Want me to jack out now?"
"Unless you want to fight while feeling you're in Sharo, and without being operated."
"Point taken. Coming back!" And in a pink beam of light, she was gone.
