Marathon Battling!

SummonerMan lighted down in the network and looked around. It seemed fairly normal. He hadn't been busting here before, but felt prepared enough. Worst case scenario, they didn't come in first.

He was competitive, but not suicidally so. He knew he had limits, and one of them was not being able to make it as far as the teacher planned. "Whatever, not like the Mistress plans on getting that far anyway." The Purple cloaked navi thought.

As far as he cared, he was here to test his chips and delete a few Viruses. He'd go as far as he could, sure. "No need to look that far into the future, though." He turned his attention instead to looking for a few viruses to destroy.

[Battle 1, Go!]
Summonerman walked briskly towards Pegasus' Castle one way and a beckoning hand caught his attention. It came from a nearby alleyway, so he figured "What the hey" and walked right into the alley...

...before facing a BigHat, with REALLY big hands....

...or those could just be Handy viruses, proven when they pulled bombs out of thin air.

Oh boy.

SummonerMan continued wandering until he came across an alleyway, where he spotted his first opponents. It didn't take him long to identify them. Well, two of them. "Those are TimeBomb viruses or I've never used and object before."

Well, that meant he had a three turn time limit to destroy them.

Rose chimed in fairly quickly. She knew she needed to take advantage of every advantage they were given. So she scrolled through her options, and decided on her plan. She quickly sent him the chips to go along with it.

"We're taking advantage of the battlefield," she explained, as SummonerMan looked at the cards in his hand. He smiled a bit at this. "Besides, you wanted to try them out, right?" Rose asked, rhetorically.

SummonerMan set to work with an old favorite. He dropped a card the ground below him, and it's activation summoned a large log, which began to spin down the alleyway. As he watched the thing bounce along the ground towards his targets, he looked at the cards in his hand once more, and threw the next one across the field.

The next card, his new MetalGear chip, didn't do much more than it implied. A large metallic gear appeared in the ground and began spinning slowly towards the opponents He had been hoping for it to land towards the left side of the enemies. They had been roughly in a line, and thanks to the thin width of the battlefield, he assumed that if the gear bounced back and forth across the width it would be far more effective. "Good call on the order there, Summ, " Rose commented. Watching it make its way leisurely towards his enemies, he couldn't have agreed more.

As he chucked the last card he had been given by Rose a good deal off in front of him, between him and his opponents, he slid the other hand behind his back and pulled out a card of his own. As the plane rose into the air, springing forth from the light of the card, SummonerMan wondered if it really had been the right choice for this small area.

Before he threw down his last card, though, he saw the thing form, and it wasn't quite a full sized passenger jet or anything. The plane fit itself in the ally, and began firing at the opponents, strafing as well as it could. SummonerMan directed it with his mind, and his hand, as a wall appeared before him.

"We didn't do much as far as defense goes," The young operator thought. "But he did summon that wall, which should provide a decent amount of cover in this narrow alleyway. Besides, we already know that the Hands make bombs, so we probably only need to worry about whatever the BigHat does."

All the same she was somewhat worried, and so she watched expectantly, waiting to see the results of the first round of this battle. SummonerMan wasn't nearly as worried, evident in the way he leaned casually against the wall he'd created, listening for the sounds of his attacks tearing through the enemies.

SummonerMan grinned. "That was easy." In a matter of moments he had destroyed his opponents and received both a small sum of money and a new chip.

He noticed the lack of bugfrags about a half a second before Rose chastised him. "On it." he responded, as he did summon the card. He knew it wasn't very useful, but he could deal with it. No advantage was a bad advantage.

He looked a bit more over the new resources he found himself in ownership of. The chip was another object, it appeared. So he had that going for him. It seemed useful enough too. "Objects are my specialty, anyway. And it should be useful. Though it doesn't seem like a great offensive tool, exactly."

He tossed down a card and summoned his SP, intuitively named Card. Once Card had appeared, SummonerMan hopped on to it and began hovering across the net at walking speed, looking for his next match.

[Battle 2, Go!]
Moving further into the Netopia network, SummonerMan happened upon a few viruses playing around in the vast netspace. Two Twins were throwing around a Sparky virus; a Volgear watched between them, seeming to act as some sort of referee. Each of the Twins was standing on a glowing panel, and between them was some purple paneling designed to separate the two. Then, the Volgear spotted SummonerMan's approach, and spat some fire into the air, halting the game and shifting the viruses' attention to the new intruder.

SummonerMan didn't take too long to find a new battle. He found two small ball like enemies tossing another electric ball enemy, while a fourth furnace virus appeared as well.

Rose had a bit of this down. She knew the Volgear from the Tournament. It was the virus on the FlameLine chip, so she assumed it did something like that. She informed SummonerMan of this as she went on thinking.

"Volgear is clearly fire type. Sparky is obviously elec. I don't know what Twins are, but we should be able to deal with them all the same." Rose thought, as she went through her chips.

SummonerMan came into the battle from its side, and began his approach slow. he waited for Rose to send him chips to make his plan. Rose was thinking a bit more about this strategy, so she sent SummonerMan just two chips, and told him to fill in the rest on his own.

Once he saw the card in his hand, he formed his own strategy. He kneeled down and sped up, shooting across the field, toward the poison, toward the Volgear. As he approached, he held the card in front of him, kept his path steady, and activated the card. Three watery horns appeared from the card, and shot forward towards the creature.

SummonerMan didn't slow down. He followed his attack at full speed, now kneeling on card and holding the front of it for balance. "It's a good thing that attack should take the thing out." SummonerMan thought with a cocky smile, "Otherwise I'd crash into it."

Rose clenched her teeth as SummonerMan pulled his stunt.

Rose let out a held breath as her Navi worked his gambit successfully. "Sure, gambles are fun, and fun is the goal. Sometimes I'm not sure all these gambits are necessary though."

SummonerMan continued on with his plan. Having not expected to fail, he didn't think much of his success. He carved a sharp turn and sent himself behind one of the twins, holding a card of his own devising in his hand.

As he passed, he threw a card out quickly. He aimed for just behind the closer Twin. A small grenade bounced out of the card. In a matter of moments, the grenade would explode with a large amount of force. "We'll see how the little guy likes swimming in that gunk." SummonerMan though, as he continued carving his circle.

Continuing his sharp and quick circle, SummonerMan held his second card out in front of him. He kept his arm steady as the card floated in front of his palm, and activated it once he was in line with the second twin. A pellet of glowing energy was fired forth from the card, aimed squarely for the Twin's circular back.

SummonerMan smirked as he continued his assault. "With luck, those balls of fun will find themselves swimming in a matter of moments, and I'll mainly be concerned with that ball of lightning."

Rose found herself going through their attack options once again. "At least Summ moved this time."

Rose poured through the list of available attacks. "Well, the enemies are fairly close to each other now. The twins are also both in the Poison now. So..." She tried to find her best bet to end the battle quickly without taking much damage.

She hadn't had much time to decide, so she slotted in two more chips, playing of damage output and elemental weakness. SummonerMan didn't mind the chips he had been handed. "I can deal with this."

SummonerMan continued to circle once more. He stood up again, once again resuming a sort of hover boarding style, as he held one of the cards in his hand. He waited until he found himself at a 90 degree angle from the trio of viruses, and tossed a card down once again. A log sprung out of the card as he continued his circle.

As the log rolled towards the viruses, SummonerMan made his way another 90 degrees around the circle. Now lined up with the viruses, he pulled the other card before him and activated it. A burst of pellets flew forth from the card, rushing towards the group again.

SummonerMan finished about 90 degrees further, coming to a stop on his card, pressing the back down to slow his headway. As he came to a stop, he watched as the log came rolling to his position. Adjusting his position a bit to line himself up with it, he gave it a swift kick and watched it go rolling back towards his enemies once again.

Of course this kick left him standing sideways on a hovering Card, balancing on only one foot. After almost falling forward, adjusting his weight, and almost falling backwards, SummonerMan managed to plant both feet back down and regain his balance.

The log made it's way back to the enemies, and SummonerMan got ready to get going once more. He wasn't entirely confident in his ability to maneuver well while on Card. "After all, I've only been doing this for a grand total of one battle. But I think I've been doing pretty well so far."

Rose was satisfied with the battle so far. To her Navi's credit, he'd managed to make spinning in circles on a hoverboard seem easy, so she didn't doubt his maneuverability nearly as much as he did. She wasn't as satisfied with his complete disregard for defense so far, but she would deal with it for now as a momentary slip up.

Turn Summary:
SummonerMan:
1. RollingLog1 at Sparky A, Twin B [50 wood damage, Wide(2), Double Attack]

Now that the twins were in hot water, SummonerMan did his best to take advantage of the situation. Using the RollingLog chip, he summoned it to roll towards the Sparky, which it did. However, the Sparky's flying rendered the log pretty much useless as it rolled under the virus. The satellite virus then proceeded to ram SummonerMan with a powerful tackle to his side. (40) The log did, however, clock one of the twins in the poison. The twin viruses then got out of the purple swamp with a hurry, not preferring to stay any longer in the muck. By then, SummonerMan had whipped up a Shotgun card, causing some hurt to the first Twin, but the other managed to evade it. Then, using Card's mobility to assist him, he swerved around back to the log, and gave it a swift kick to return it back to where he had launched it earlier. A similar result came about when the log rolled under the Sparky yet again, but one of the Twins was not so lucky.

Rose had been satisfied until SummonerMan took a hit. "Darn, that one looked pretty serious, too." Suddenly the plans were changing; it was time to get a little more defensive.

SummonerMan himself wasn't exactly pleased. He had been able to grit his teeth and endure the blow, the feeling of electricity coursing through his body wasn't pleasant at all. He found only two chips appearing in his hands this time, and with a cue from his Operator he figured out the new goal.

"Yes, Ma'am." Was his only reply, before heading into action. Since it was apparent that an all out offense wasn't going to work too well, SummonerMan decided to head back to playing it slow.

The fist thing he did was descend from his Card. He then made sure to watch the opponents, looking out for attacks, and prepared to roll out of the way of anything that may come his way. Card acted similarly, since SummonerMan was, after all, in complete control of the vehicle.

Once that was done, SummonerMan tossed down a card a decent ways ahead with a quick flick of the wrist. Materializing from the light that shot up from it was the same plane from earlier. The thing took shape, and immediately began strafing. The navi focused it on the enemy who had dealt the blow to him, and then set it to do what it did best: mindlessly drone on, attacking.

By now the summoner had already flicked down another card, this one a card of his own invention. A wall sprung up in front of him, materializing from the light shot up above the card. SummonerMan made his way to the wall, a quick step ahead of him, and leaned against it, slouching to the ground. It wasn't that he was exhausted; he just saw no point in not taking a moment to relax.

As he crouched, he activated the second card, sending a wave of restorative energy through his body. It made him feel substantially better. Rose was gladdened by it too.

Realizing that his gambit was not going according to plan, SummonerMan switched to Plan B and went on the defensive. Leaping off of his Card, he managed to dodge one of the Twins firing on him, with the other blocked off by his AirRaid summon. The Sparky went for him, but was suddenly mesmerized by the flying plane in front of it, and decided to orbit that instead. This proved to be its undoing as the plane shredded through its orbiter with its high-rate firearm. After that, SummonerMan put up a wall just for safety's sake and healed himself.

Rose's plan was going well enough, but SummonerMan didn't have time to relax. "I still need you to take these things out, Summ." She went down their list of options again, trying to decide what they would do next. "Those panels seem to be an issue. So if possible we want to get them off of those. And we have just the thing to do it."

She slotted two chips to her Navi, and mentioned the plan briefly. He nodded and stood up. Once in standing position he took a step onto his Card and allowed this card to move him around the wall that had been serving as a barrier for the two of them.

Once he'd made it around the edge of the wall, he threw down the first of two cards. In a matter of moments, a box sprung forth from the light of the card. This box quickly began shooting out winds at a strength sufficient to knock most things backwards.

SummonerMan was still on the lookout for counter attacks, so he took a moment to watch his opponents and employ evasive maneuvers before continuing on. He shot forward once again, using the wind to help aid his speed as he pulled out and activated the last card he'd been given. A sword floated a few inches beyond the card he held, and SummonerMan held it at such an angle that he hoped flying by his target at high speeds would send the blade through it.

Once he had made it past the target, he hopped stood still, hoping to look dramatic if the virus split in two behind him. He couldn't help but sneak a peek, though. He held the card up so that he could watch the battle behind him in the reflection of his sword.

While all this dramatic slashing and posing had been happening, the plane had manage to fire a large number of rounds at the other target.

"Finally," SummonerMan thought, cockily.

Summoning a WindBox pseudo-virus helped SummonerMan get back on track as it blew the Twins off the glowing panels and onto normal terrain. It also worked as a fair diversion, as one of the Twins focused on trying to blast the fan to bits, which didn't work much, given the strength it had. SummonerMan then proceeded to rush one of the Twins while his AirRaid opened fire on the other. Unfortunately, the one he had chosen simply slid out of the way. The AirRaid was more successful in filling the other Twin with bullets, but something strange happened: the Twin was not deleted, but resurrected to full health! Fortunately, the AirRaid's bullets were still capable of damaging it a little more.

SummonerMan watched unhappily as the reflection of events proved to him that his plan had been unsuccessful this time. He chalked it up to bad luck and decided to try again.

He pushed his back foot down against the rear of Card and did a quick 180. he then shot forward, sword out once again, this time actively seeking an opponent. As SummonerMan made his way by, he sliced through the air, leaving only whooshing noises as evidence of his assault before continuing past.

He slid to a halt somewhat past the Twin he'd just attempted to quarter, and spun around once more. This time he'd watch his victory in real time, not reflected over an inferior screen.

As he worked through his Twin, the plane went ahead and fired volley after volley of rounds at its ally. Once it was done, it would be out of ammo, and usefulness. It would disintegrate out of existence and be gone.

Rose watched on, again somewhat unhappy. "He keeps neglecting offense. If he keeps losing health, there's no way we'll make it through 19 battles." She elected not to say anything just yet. It could wait until after battle, or whenever the issue next arose.
