Band, Two Strong

A treble and bass clef floated down unto the netways. The treble clef landed first, playing a midi file upon contacting the ground. A flash of light formed and Bard was left behind. She was in her Jazz GMO and was holding her trumpet with pride. The bass clef landed soon after, playing a low tuned Midi as Sly formed into the nets. His bass guitar was in the playing position as he looked at Bard. "I know how to play the guitar, but we have no clue how to play together as a band yet. I will follow your led, since you are the band leader."

Bard nodded in a stern manner, trying to show she was indeed the Band 'leader' here. "We just need to practice and train. Figure out how our band works together. Take my led, follow my tune and we should be doing just fine in here. You know the dodge spell and the basic attack tune by heart correct?"

"That is correct!" Sly answered quickly.

"Lets get starting with Band practice then."

{Battle 1}
It seems that Bard and Sly materialized in Netopia Net in the perfect place to practice their style of music. They had landed on a raised platform amidst a field of normal and cracked terrain. It looked like their had been a concert held there just a few moments before...And another band was mounting the stage. Two viruses shaped like musical instruments wandered onto the platform along with a floating ship with flashing red lights. Perhaps the ship was the spotlight operator. A low rumbling caught Bard's ears and another virus appeared on the cracked terrain; a lone fan ready to rock out to its favorite band.

Battle of the Bands!
Round 1!
ROCK ON!
{{Thank you sir for the best normal battle I have ever had xD}}

Bard and Sly looked at the enemies who where in the band battle. Band carefully looked over their ranks while she tried to decide what to do against them. Leo himself was a little thrown off in this fight. "We have never actually fought over the schools network before. Normally we connect to the netsquare and go to a more familiar place. You have any idea what some of these things are Bard?"

Bard shook her head while getting her instruments ready. She wanted to get on that stage. She would be the winner of the battle of the bands. "Looks up some info on them. They have a spotlight guy, two instruments, and a..crazy crazy fan." Sly gripped the neck of his guitar tight and said, "This shouldn't be much of a problem. No problem! Problem equals none!"

Even Bard had to break her focus to look at her support program oddly. She shook it off and turned back. "We need to out preform these guys! Even with their fan we must prove we are the best of the bands!" Bard took the trumpet and pulled it before her face. Prior to pressing it to her lips she looked to Sly and noticed how weak he was compared to her. She would have to protect him and train him a lot. "What exactly can you do?" She asked Sly.

As Sly went to open his mouth to speak, Leo chimed in saying, "Due to the secondary ability programming I gave him, he can directly take a chip from the folder, much like you can. Other Support Programs apparently can't do that. We should send him a defense chip for now. Until we see exactly what these guys can do. From what I could dig up quickly, the 'fan' is a virus which can crack terrain. He needs to be handled, because with the terrain around you we are in danger. The UFO take chips. He also needs to fall first. Other than that I have no clue what to do." Leo sorted the chips out he knew they would need. Riskhoney1, guard, machinegun? Who knows. He slotted in the chip to Sly, and gave Bard the guard.

Bard got the data, and felt the normal feeling of having the data running in her. Sly saw the notes before his eyes, and was more than ready to begin playing. He gripped the neck of his bass guitar, and place his fingers on the correct frets. The bass sound was slow and easy to listen to. As his fingers plucked the strings and the sound vibrated up the neck, a single bee formed from the face of the guitar. As the song kept going, soon the Bass player was surrounded in a cloud of bees. Bard watched him carefully and noticed how slowly he was taking the song. Playing it for the first time is a bit odd, she must admit. He will get used to playing on the spot Bard thought.

Bard turned to face the other band. She raised her trumpet up and got ready to win this fight. The first step was to hold back that fan member of there. She started playing the jazz song she knew very well. She normally played this song on a guitar however. With each note another bit of the deadly strings formed in the mouth of the instrument. As soon as the strings were visible, they began to gain their own life and feeling, moving like vicious snakes to hunt down the target. Once the song was over, the full length of the strings were alive from the end of the trumpet, like the hair on a Gorgon. The strings rushed towards the cragger at a blinding speed, attempting to bite unto the target and bind it to the ground. Bard turned her attention to the band members now. Leo said that the UFO was a high target, but how could she take that out off hand?

That's when she felt the data in her system, the ever useful dash attack chip. She smiled as this data was present. To make this work however she would need to use the musician's transport. She played the song to summon the disk under her feet. It sprang from the ground and came to life with bring white light, a spinning outer section, and a french curve pattern filling the bottom with musical notes. She moved the disk to the top of the platform. On the way there, she began playing the song for the dash attack. The fast paced song had many sharp notes in it, that were quick and blunt. The prefect sound combo for a trumpet. The trumpets mouth grew in size, and wrapped over itself during the song. Once fully finished, the weapon would greatly resembled a wrecking ball of sorts.

The disk lined up with the band on the stage, starting with the UFO in front. She sang the last note of the song, rushing at the UFO first and foremost. The wreaking ball trumpet hanging from the side of the disk. She tried to aim to hit the other members, but the UFO would be a prefect start. After the dashattack was finished, she quickly took the now restored trumpet and played the song for the guard. Each of the notes formed from the end of the instrument and floated around her in a defensive pattern to protect the musical warrior.

Bard and her band-mate wasted no time in showing their superiority. Sly fingered the strings of his bass guitar, forming a wall of bees that buzzed in tune with the SP. Bard picked up the song with her trumpet, brass peals sending living strings to wrap themselves around the cragger that was leaping around the ground below the stage. The virus struggled against its bindings and slammed the floor in anger, but it wasn't close enough to attack.

Bard summoned her transport and rushed toward the floating UFO. However, as the trumpet turned wrecking ball neared the virus the lights flashed brighter and the trumpet curved around UFO before vanishing. It looked like the UFO had drained the energy of the DashAttack, stopping it before it had the chance to impact.

Bard raised her guard seconds before the Melodys began their set. The instruments warped as they played, transforming into musical notes that each shook a pair of maracas. The sound was pleasant, though odd when combined with Bard's trumpet and Sly's bass guitar. The two Melodys dashed forward, one attempting to tackle Sly while the other went for Bard.

Bard's shield activated and sent the Melody tumbling backward to the floor where it...Transformed into a speaker? There was something decidedly wrong with these viruses. The second Melody met with the cloud of bees surrounding Sly and came out the worse for it, five welts rising up on its purplish skin.

Leo had to lean closer into the displays to make sure he was seeing what he thought. "Did that music note just turn into a speaker? And did that UFO take your chip away?" Leo was perplexed for a moment. His brain quickly made processes to figure out what was going on in this battle.

Sly, was looking at the music note which attacked him and not felt a bit defenseless as he didn't have his wall of bees to protect him any longer. He watched as did combat in a very aggressive manner. Her disk was moving her around, her weapons changing and shifting into different forms to attack with. It was an unusual sight, and he had to wonder if he would ever be fighting like that, of if he would be the band and Bard the spectacle. Bard was looking at the UFO with her head turned, wondering why how it had been able to stop her attack and simply steal the chip. Good thing there is only one of them She thought.

Bard and Sly locked eyes for a moment. Bard was checking to see if Sly was alright, and Sly and still observing Bard. The enemy before Sly had several purple bumps on it, showing the defense had connected easily and effectively. Bard gave him a quick thumbs up and then turned her attention back to the UFO.

"The UFO can steal one chip of yours Bard," Leo said starting to discuss his strategy. "It needs to be dropped now. We are going to have to throw two attacks at the thing to drop it. I am going to slot in the firehit1 and boomerang chip. Summon your drum and have it hit the UFO, then finish the UFO off. Use the boomerang last." Leo also slotted in one more chip for the Bass player. It was an offensive chip, which would be a risk for the new member. He is rather fragile.

"Now Sly," Bard directed, "Use the chip data only at my command. Target the one before you, and the speaker." Sly nodded in agreement as he received the data. He saw the notes and placed his fingers on the first frets, ready to begin on command. Bard, pulled her trumpet to her mouth and started to play the 8th note dodge process attack. She would need this, the plan didn't have much room for error. She Quickly played the two high paced, and repetitive, songs to prepare two dodges for herself. After that she smiled at the UFO and started to play the firehit1 song. The song had a lot of loud strong notes, and each one she played sounded like it was coming from many trumpets, as apposed to each one. The sound rose in strength, and then the song began to switch to a fast paced flicker sound almost. With this the trumpet lit ablaze, and Bard went to strike the near UFO, knowing it would take the attack.

Before Bard began to play the drum summon, she instructed Sly to use the AmatsuHaretsu1 chip that he had been given to finish off the melody before him. He started to play the song, which had four distinctly different sounds, but were harmonized together and played in regular intervals. As he plucked his two fingers on the bass guitars strings, balls of purple energy began to form and float around the musician. Each one was a slightly different shade, showing it belonged to a different sound he plucked. As the song drew to a close, the energy each targeted the correct target and flew at them. Three at the melody which had previously attacked him, and one at the speaker from away.

While Sly did this, Bard summoned her snare drum. The song was simply, full of fast flat notes that carried a simple beat to them. After a few repeats, the snare lay at her feet, on the stage. She played another quick melody to register to the drum which target to attack this time, and it did so. The sticks on the snare animated to a playing position, almost being ghostly in fashion as they played the damage spell to the UFO. Bard then started the final song. She moved her disk right in front of sly to protect him, and then the low earthy tones could be heard. With each note, the trumpet became more and more curved, taking on a grain effect within its metallic structure. She placed it in her right hand, and threw it at the UFO, also aiming to hit the other Melody. She placed her left hand in the hand, after throwing it from her right, and waited until it returned before saying, "This should finish most of them off expect the fan. Leo, we need to get some fans."

Bard whipped out her trumpet and played a little ditty called 8th Note Dodge before charging the UFO with the now flaming trumpet. The instrument seemed to leap from Bard's hand as it neared the virus, twirling around it for a moment before it vanished completely. The Navi jumped back and summoned her snare drum which began to play on its own.

Sly played a song of his own, the Amatsu Haretsu gunning down one of the Melodys and wounding the other. The snare drum beat a rapid tap tap and the UFO rocked back as if struck. Bard hurled a trumpet at the UFO, intending to finish it off. The trumpet struck, sending the flashing UFO to plummet down and crash on top of the injured Melody. Double KO!

Seeing his favorite band decimated on stage, the Cragger bellowed in anger. He snapped the binding holding him and charged the platform. He leaped into the air and slammed his fist into the stage, hoping to crush Bard beneath him. Luckily, Bard moved out of the way just in time to avoid the falling fist. However, the force of the blow shredded the snare drum and caught the edge of Bard's transport. Sly just managed to avoid being caught by the fist

Although Bard had lost her drums, and nearly lost her transport from the attack by the cragger, she knew that this battle was mostly wrapped up. Although the terrain around her was fully cracked. That is annoying. Sly watched the enemy jumping up and down in anger and said, "He really should learn to like some different music, some viruses just have bad taste in their musical choice." He gripped his base guitar and placed his fingers to start playing.

"Sly, go ahead and play a dodge spell. We will get Bard to finish this to lower possible damage to yourself." Sly fully agreed, knowing that one slip up could spell early EJO for him. His fingers plucked at the two middle strings of the guitar, keeping a simple melody line going as his casting for the dodge spell. Once it was finished he looked to Bard, who already had her trumpet to her lips. She too was playing a dodge spell, can never be to careful.

Leo grabbed for some chips, some very familiar to Bard. "Use these, it should be able to take out that last viruses with ease. Just don't miss to much and we should be ok." He slotted in both the shotguns, and the firehit chip. "Use your transport to get closer to him at the end to ensure the firehit connects. Lets finish this and get a new practice stage, that 'fan' has broken this one."

Bard felt the data in her system and got ready to fight. "Lets get a new stage indeed. This venue is worn." The first thing to musical warrior did was bring her Raven into existence. It started as a massive growth on her shoulder, which soon started to form the shape of the ominous Bird. It took on its own color and texture soon, showing the Raven as being its own being. Once it was able, it launched from the shoulder of Bard and hovered over head. She sent one shotgun there and kept the other for herself.

"What is that Bird?!" Sly questioned after having witnessed the summoning of the creature. Bard started the summoning for the shotgun, so that the battle wouldn't be slow. The trumpet song was a nice sound, quick and smooth, just as a jazz trumpet should be. She took the trumpet down from her mouth and shouldered it, then fired the chip. After wards Bard looked to sly and said, "He is a friend of mine! Think of him as a hand, very useful for close combat, which I hate. You don't have an animal familiar?" She questioned.

"Not that I am aware," He responded. "Why don't I have one Leo?"

"Your programming wouldn't allow it. I might be able to try and rework it later, but right now only Bard has one."

Sly only heard fragments of what Leo said, as he was still too busy staring at the bird before him. The Raven itself was uploading the data for the shotgun. It already had the black smoke pouring from its beak as it took on the silver gleam of a shotgun barrel. The bird looked at the cragger, and drew a bead on it. It fired hard and powerful, recoiling the bird back through the air. Nothing it wans't used to by this point in its fighting history.

Lastly, Bard kicked her transport into action and the musical runes shone powerfully as it moved towards the cragger. She was gearing it towards the flank or back of the cragger to avoid damage from the beast. Along the way Bard started the spell for the second of her firehits. The song was the same, with the trumpet bursting into flames. With the flaming trumpet in her hands, she pulled the instrument back and tried to bring it crashing down upon the head of the cragger, hoping to finish it off this time for good.

To deliver the final blow, Bard herself charged in with her burning trumpet and crashed it against the virus...Still unable to delete it! From the look of it, the virus' skin hardened compare to last time and absorbed only half the damage of everything!

Seeing that its target was only inches away, the Cragger took a wild swing at Bard. Fortunately, the Dodge Spell kicked in and shortly teleported Bard into a safe location, while the Transport couldn't have the luxury of dodging and it was shortly crushed by the golem's fist.

"What the hell?" Leo asked while staring blankly at the screen before him. "How did he live through that? That is really special. No wonder we never busted on the school network. How special." Leo was highly annoyed by this occurrence. Stupid Netopia. "Here, sending another wave of chips. We need a breaking attack for that effect on the craggers also. Maybe we can look into that for future process attacks. But, the first thing you need to do it move out of range of that virus before it hits you."

Bard couldn't exactly disagree with this statement. She quickly got to her feet after losing her transport and moved back from melee range of the cragger, watching her step along the way, trying to dodge the broke panels as best as possible. Once she had done this, she felt the presence of the cannon chips in her system. Those alone will ensure that the cragger doesn't get close to her or Sly, and that she can delete the annoying virus. "Sly, you should just move back, we don't want you getting hit by this guy."

Sly, also not being able to argue with this tactic moved back, further from the cragger. He had to watch his step carefully, trying to not step on any of the broken panels. Once Sly was a safe distance away she started to play the song for the cannon spell. With the movement away, she should have time to start the spell and finish the cragger off for good. The trumpet rose to her lips and she played a victorious song with a powerful beats. The cannon fired from the trumpet once it was lower from her lips. Bard knew the shot could miss, and that the cragger could be within melee range at this point. She started to play the dodge spell, ensuring that she wouldn't be hit and that the cragger would be deleted.

Just in case the first shot missed, Bard replayed the song with the second chip. The same beat was used, and the same method of fire. Once it was over she searched the broken stage, hoping to no longer see the virus on it.

Bard, Leo, and Sly where all relieved when they big fan was deleted fully. Bard found those viruses to be very troublesome, and would be keeping an eye out for them in the future. Bard sent her bird to gather the zenny on the ground, and sent it to the bank account. "We need about another 1000, and we will be set for our upgrades. We should get a bit more just in case we want to gather a procee upgrade or something similar as well." Leo lectured.

Bard and Sly, however, we not listening. Bard was giving Sly tips on how to play better, and Bard was logging everything he could. He knew he had work to do to get that accustomed to battles, but you could see his personality starting to shine through on his face. His eyes showed as Bard retold key tips, that he didn't want to hear anymore and wanted to practice his trade.

"Lets start moving towards the netsquare. Once we finish out battles here, we can wonder over there to play some music and maybe find another busting partner or something similar. At the very least the band can play together some, and then leave," Bard said.

Bard and Sly began moving towards the netsquare, away from the cracked battle stage.

As Bard and Sly moved towards the more peaceful areas that led to the NetSquare, they arrived at some ramps that led to a higher area of the network. Looking up, there could be seen some viruses chattering excitedly about something, among them some strange short ones with big purple hats, and some that were dragging rather large wrecking balls everywhere. Shortly, they noticed the traveling duo and readied themselves to attack!

-BATTLE TWO, FIGHT!!-
Bard and sly looked at the viruses, completely unsure as to what they could do in battle. Even Leo had to take a second look at them, not at all knowing what attack pattern to take. Sly took a step back from the ramp and readied his bass guitar as the enemies brought themselves to the ready as well. "Guess we are just going to have to figure out how to fight them on the fly," Bard said. She brought the trumpet to her lips, and began summoning the musician's transport. She would need to to get up that incline, as well as avoid the attacks from those pesky quakers. As the spell played, the ground under bard began to glow bright white, and a disk formed under her feet. The pattern on the disk was one of musical notes following flowing french curves. The disk lifted Bard up into the air and she waited for some chips from Leo.

"I am going to send Sly the guard, so he won't have to move out of the way of the quakers attacks. Bard, you are going to have to handle the main damage here again. I am sending in dash attack and a shotgun. Use the 8th note dodge prior to attacking. Lets see how these things react to these attacks first." Leo grabbed the chips, slotting them in and quickly pressing in the correct options for each of the band members.

Sly wasted no time getting his precious defense up and running, knowing it wouldn't be long before attacks would be rained down upon them. He plucked the strings carefully and quickly, producing an even bass beat for Bard. As he did so, the guard chip worked and brought up a barrier around him, light blue in color. He kept picking at the strings as Bard pulled the trumpet to her mouth and quickly played the two dodge spells with the process attack.

Now that she had two dodge spells ready, and a disk under her feet, she kicked the disk into gear, working her way up the ramp. She started to bring up the shotgun chip as she moved towards the virus group, and the short fast beats escaped from her trumpet. The sound began more and more intense as she reached the point of firing the chip. She pulled the trumpet away from her mouth, and sang the final note as the shotgun attack aimed towards the two big hats.

Once the shotgun attack as finished, Bard pulled up the dash attack. As she played the notes for the spell, the trumpet itself began to change and morph into a wrecking ball. Once the trumpet was fully changed, she gripped it by the handle, it was effectively a ball and chain, and kicked the transport into gear, trying to make it up to the top of the ramp and damage the enemies with the attack all at once. She aimed first for the quakers, knowing they would fall to the impact of the attack.

The BigHat viruses simply did nothing to stop Bard's advance but to lob small spheres down the ramp, where they rolled down until they met the ground and gravity had no more hold on them. Bard's shotgun trumpeting hit the BigHat without much fanfare, and the Quakers leapt to the skies. Bard had that one covered, though, evading their attacks by attacking them herself and taking one down. The other, which she missed, whizzed past her up to the skies with its own wrecking ball, aiming for Sly down at the bottom of the ramp.

Leo saw the bombs rolling down the ramp towards the area where Sly was holding his defenses. As Bard kept attacking the viruses, she couldn't see the threat to Sly and Leo quickly yelled to him, "Sly, Move up the ramp you don't want to be near those explosions!" Sly turned briefly to see the bombs behind him and then started to run up the ramp in haste, gripping the neck of his guitar tightly as he ran. Leo sat back after sly began moving and thought about the situation that Bard was in. "There's no way that she will be able to destroy them all in one wave of attacks now, plus one is unreachable. Might as well take out the ones on the ground then leave the final virus to be dealt with." He slotted in the boomerang chip and the two fire hit chips. "Bard, finish off the two big hats, and watch out for both Sly, who is advancing up the ramp, and the big virus in the air above you. We don't have an effective way to deal with him so we will just have to wait until he comes back down.

Bard received the chip data, and brought the trumpet to her mouth for the boomerang chip. The beat was a very rapid paced song with even notes and a clear beat line, a rather tribal noise for a brass instrument to produce. The noise alone was very foreign as was the way the trumpet began to morph and shape itself into the boomerang. A few short notes later and the weapon was finished, which she took careful aim with to try to hit both of the big hats at once. He hand gripped the brass-wood boomerang before throwing it at the targets. The boomerang was on the return path from the attack, and the moment it reconnected with her hand she stated playing the songs for the fire hits.

These spells have a very jazzy feel to them. Upbeat, quick, and random the songs perfectly matched the element of fire they ere tying to reproduce. The mouth of the trumpet turned a burnt black color as the interior was becoming heated with the flames. As the spell finished, Bard kicked the musician's transport into action and moved as close to the big hats as she could, before unleashing the attacks from the trumpet. Two balls of fire were sent from the trumpet, one aimed at each of the bighats. Lastly, Bard looked down at Sly to see him working on the ramp to hold his guard chip in place. She then diverted her eyes skyward to see the looming virus there, ready to crash down and cause some serious harm. Unless those explosions were very large, which they shouldn't be based on the size of the spheres, Sly's guard should stay in one piece to take an attack from the Quaker above.

Bard pulled her black and brass trumpet to her mouth and played a familiar tune. Two large De Capos, which are the repeate signs of the music world, appeared and caused Bard to start shifting around very very rapidly. The song played as the spell worked, giving a smooth jazzy background to the now Blurry Bard. As the spell finished, Two copies of Bard were now on the stage, with the musician herself in a new location from the original spot of using the spell. These defenses should hold use for one attack, Bard said as she waited for the next wave of chips.
