Oh, blubbity blub blub...

The Aqua Navi's mood grew a bit sour as he found out Lark were much trickier to avoid than Puffy and Shrimpy. The fact all the water was connected and could be traveled by the viruses did nothing to help that. "Um...I think this is a little bit of a problem..."

"...Yeah..." All Sabrina could do was think for a moment about how to dispose of the foe in front of her Navi...before coming up with a possible way. "First, we need to get that thing in front of you! And here you go!" The method she came up to defeat the impending Lark? A chip containing a small sword with a red background. "Battlechip, Sword! Slot in!"

A glowing blade took shape on SplashMan's arm, but instead of using it immediately, looked down at it with a confused look. "You know, I can move around down here, but that doesn't mean I can use a sword..."

"Just thrust! The water won't stop you from doing that, will it?"

"I guess not..." While not entirely sold on the plot, the Navi took a couple of stabs at the LarkEX, causing a large amount of bubbles to form in the area. While they weren't damaging, they were uncomfortable enough for him to dispel the sword and start swimming a bit deeper down. "Okay, that should be one down. And I think I saw another one dive in. So I gotta be careful..."

"Yep. ...Actually, I have an idea. Stop swimming forward and get near a wall."

SplashMan leaned over slightly, causing him to swim towards the wall to the left of him, where he stopped. "Done! Now what?"

"Now this!" The young woman placed a chip of a Mettaur deflecting an attack into her PET. "Battlechip, Guard! Slot in!"

The Aqua Navi watched as a barrier formed in front of him, and took care not to remain right behind it in the deep. "I should wait here until it looks like the Lark's made its move, right?"

"Right! But be careful...you're a water-based Navi, but we've never battled underwater like this before!"

"Gotcha!" SplashMan went silent, and gently kicked below him, allowing him to remain directly behind the Guard.

1-Sword stab chip attack on LarkEXA (80)
2-Sword stab chip attack on LarkEXA (80)
3-Swim further into the maze
4-Guard1 chip attack (60-, reflects an attack)]
Due to the fact that Splashman is RIGHT NEXT TO the Lark, the fishlike virus goes down rather easily. He then swims into a wall and throws up a Guard, but it didn't look like anything was about to come closer to him. On the other hand, a distinct sound of water moving and a propeller spinning meant that the other Lark could be fairly easily tracked.

A final splash suddenly echoed through the watery caverns. The last virus had joined the fray.

If there was one thing SplashMan hated, it was...well, getting zapped with electricity. But if there were two things he hated, the other thing was waiting for nothing. "Darn it! Why isn't anything coming?!"

"Well, there's no law saying you have to stay there anymore. Isn't there any way you can find the others?"

A moment of silence passed. And that's when the Navi realized the clear sound of a spinning propeller in the water. Which could only belong to one of two things, and either was fine by him. "Oh, I can use that noise to find them! I'm gonna try following it, Sabrina!" The Guard was dispelled, and he began swimming towards the sounds. "So, how are we going to beat the second one?"

"Same way as the first, only you'll use a different sword." The young woman removed a chip from near the front of her folder, containing a blue Swordy. "AquaSword should work as well as Sword, right?"

"Dunno why it wouldn't!"

"Neither do I, so that's the plan. Oh, and after you're done, don't move or make a sound!"

"Huh? Why?"

"Well, you're using their sounds to find them. I don't want the same thing to happen to you!"

"Oh, that makes sense!...I think..." By now, a certain aquatic virus was growing fairly near. "Okay, now!"

"Roger!" The chip, which was already near the edge of the PET in preparation, was gently placed into it. "Battlechip, AquaSword! Slot in!"

As SplashMan drew near, his arm was replaced with a glowing blue sword, that almost seemed invisible while beneath the surface. Rearing back, he gave the LarkEX a couple of jabs with his blade, then quickly changed back to his ordinary arm, so that the AquaSword wouldn't randomly shine if the other virus showed up. "Being quiet...now!" And he stopped moving entirely. Interestingly, however, he neither floated nor sunk. The truth of the matter was, his inner water content was so high, he had the same density as water itself. And so, he remained suspended, as if in mid-air, watching and waiting for anything that might show up...

1+2-Swimming to find LarkEXB
3-AquaSword stab chip attack on LarkEXB (80+10, Aqua)
4-AquaSword stab chip attack on LarkEXB (80+10, Aqua)]
After some swimming, Splashman tracks down the Lark and successfully eliminates it with a couple watery stabs. The last one's propeller noises indicate that it's coming towards Splashman at a rather rapid pace; it could have heard him somehow.

The Guard suddenly feels a bit heavy. Perhaps it's trying to tell him something; it would've been possible if it weren't for the fact that is was an inanimate yellow shield incapable of speech or thought.

(OOC: This post/strategy is revolved around the concept that no more than one action is needed to approach the LarkEX head-on. If this is incorrect, just let me know.)

As SplashMan remained suspended in the water, he noticed two things: first, the sound of a LarkEX was getting louder, which meant it might know where he was already. Second, he was sinking a little, since he had two chips activated. Which was odd to him, because he could've sworn he had already deactivated both of them. "...It's coming!" Of course, assuming this was true meant floating around doing nothing was pointless. And so, he began swimming towards the source of the noise.

"What are you doing?!" Sabrina looked on, confused at why her Navi was doing exactly what she told him NOT to do.

"I think it knows where I am anyway! So I'm taking the fight to it!" Before long, a shadow seemed to appear in the distance; it seemed to be Lark-shaped, but it couldn't be 100% determined. "Quick, give me something!"

"Well, uh..." Well, shoot. Sword and AquaSword were the only close-range chips they owned, and anything long-range would probably screw up underwater...wait, that was it! There was a ranged chip that would work underwater! After all, it had been used earlier in the fight, in a way..."Oh, got it!" Two chips were inserted at once into the PET; chips containing a certain blue and pink virus..."Battlechip, WideShot! Double slot in!"

The wide-mouthed water shooter formed on the Navi's arm, who stopped swimming for a moment and pointed it towards the likely final virus. One right after another, what seemed like blades of Aqua energy cut through the water, towards the shadow. However, instead of seeing if they hit, he focused on something else; having the bottoms of his back cannons blast water.

"SplashMan? ...What are you doing?"

"Seeing if I can finish this!" The front of his cannons seemed to have an watery output as well, but underwater it was hard to tell. And then...he burst forward, like a torpedo, towards the Lark-like shadow, head-first. And he kept going. And going. And going. By now he definitely would've hit the virus, but the water made it hard to tell at that speed. And so he stopped and listened for any propeller induced sounds.

Suddenly, the pathway behind Splashman abruptly caves in, trapping him in the maze! The only way that's open now is forward, from the looks of things.
...Nope, nothing. SplashMan turned around, only to see a fair amount of cash data floating in the water. "Whew! That did it!" He swam over and sent the zenny to his operator. "There! I'm getting out of here now!"

As if on cue, the passageway closed in on itself, leaving one slightly distressed Aqua Navi. "Um...that's not good...Sabrina, can you still hear me?"

"Loud and clear...and, um, no, it's not good. At all."

"Phew...I dunno what I would do now if I lost contact with the PET..." The Navi looked over the caved-in area, but it was pretty solid...he highly doubted he'd be able to break through it, even if he used something like Aqua Ram. "I think this is a one-way road now..."

"Looks like it. Now I kinda wish I used Recover80 on you during that last battle..."

"Me too..." SplashMan shook his head, then starting swimming towards unknown territory somewhat slowly. "Wonder what's this way...gotta be careful!"

(searching for Battle #4)
Splashman slowly swims further down the now-dark tunnel, expecting anything. Light eventually pours in as Splashman exits the tunnel, and comes across what appears to be the mother of all tidepools; a massive crater filled to the brim with saltwater. Sounds could be heard from deep below, but in the inky blackness that pervaded the bed of the area it was impossible to know just what it was.

And of course, an ichthyoid welcoming committee greets Splashman at the door. All of them seem rather ticked off at Splashman, as if he was trespassing.

Oh yeah, and an explosion sounds off behind Splashman; the tunnel back has been blocked. No running now.

(OOC: First off...holy crap. Second off...I can't find info on it, so could you please give me some basic info on Senbon?)
<(Senbon's the virus you get Aquaneedle off of. It's Aqua-type, pink, and looks sort of like a deflated pufferfish, like Puffys.)>
[OOC: Which means...hold on a moment. (smacks Capcom for making two viruses with the same English name)]

"Huh?!" While not that surprised that he found viruses, SplashMan was rather shocked at the amount of them. "1, 2, 3...ahh, I've got like a dozen viruses here!"

"And they look pretty tough too, based on the PET readings..." Sabrina tapped the side of her head, trying to think of a good way to handle this particular batch of enemies. "Umm...I can't think of a really good way to do this..."

Needless to say, the Navi felt 'much' better after hearing this. "Can you at least think of a not-so-really-good way to do it? I really don't want to just float here and get deleted..."

"Now that I can do! Okay, first off, use this on the LarkEX! We're gonna take the middle out first!" The young woman placed a pair of Lark based chips into her PET. "Battlechip, WideShot! Double slot in!"

The gun shaped like a Lark's mouth formed on SplashMan's arm, who started focusing it towards the pair of rays, as well as one of the Shrimpy. "Is it okay if I get a Shrimpy with this, too?"

"Uh...sure, if you think you can! Just remember, the Lark come first!"

"Right!" Whoosh! Whoosh! A pair of water arcs emerged from the gun, headed for the very type of virus it originated from. But he did nail them? At that depth, it was a tad too dark to see. "Okay...but, that won't do it! I need something else to finish them!"

"Right. Don't worry, I thought ahead!" A chip was taken that had never been used before, and inserted into a chip slot. It featured some Navi shooting some type of gun. If the battle wasn't distracting her so much, she'd proabably wonder why that Navi appeared on so many chips. "Battlechip, Spreader! Slot in!"

An odd blue gun that was a bit wider in the middle took shape on the Navi's arm in lieu of WideShot, and was examined by him almost immediately briefly. "So, this is a Spreader...well, let's see what it can do!" He pointed it at the second LarkEX, and released...a single yellow shot? What kind of ripoff was th-

Suddenly, the single shot split, and formed many, many tiny blasts, which seemed to be headed all over the place...including the entire middle group of viruses. Unfortunately, all the shots made it rather hard to see who was getting hit, who was gone, and all that good stuff.

"And now, for a little defense!" Naturally, Sabrina placed a chip with a yellow Mettaur into her PET. When didn't she end a turn with that? "Battlechip, Guard! Slot in!"

A highly familiar yellow shield formed in fron of SplashMan, who had no reservations about remaining motionless behind it. He already had taken damage, and didn't really want to do so again. Especially in a battle like this...

4-Guard1 chip attack (60-, Reflects an attack)]
<(Ugh. Sorry for taking so long to mod.)>

Splashman's trademark dual-Wideshots plow through the middle-crowd of viruses, leaving them all horribly weakened; the Shrimpy had managed to float away from the final blow. The Spreader, however, finishes the job and cleans up the scraps, picking up a cheap shot on the unhurt Shrimpy as well.

The Shrimpy that didn't manage to get horribly massacred fired off what looked like an air bubble at Splashman, who pulled up a Guard in time to reflect it and further injure the Shrimpy. A Senbon above him also decides to attack, puffing up and showering a trio of needles into the water. They miss, but they had been close.

At the seabed, the unknown figures don't appear to do anything. If anything, they seem to be waiting for something.

Well, that worked really well. The LarkEX were gone, and there was just one weakened Shrimpy left on this level. Didn't seem like much could go-what the?! Needles? Wait, he knew those needles...they were AquaNeedles. So the viruses above could still attack him? Perfect...not. "Augh! I don't like fighting in 3-D..."

"Then stick with 2-D, and finish off the Shrimpy. Then we'll worry about the Puffy and...what the?" Well, that was weird. According to the PET, there were two pairs of Puffy on the level above SplashMan. But why was it grouping them separately? It seemed that they were all together. "Ugh...I hate 3-D battling too..." Sabrina half-heartedly grabbed a single chip of a Mettaur being blasted, and inserted it. "Battlechip, Shotgun, slot in..."

The Navi got the blue blaster chip attack, but wasn't exactly heartened by his operator's lack of enthusiasm. "Can't you at least pretend to not care about it...?" Shaking that out of his head for a moment, he aimed it towards the arthopod virus, and released a single blast towards it. As the Shotgun faded, he immediately began swimming upwards. "Okay, that's the end of the Shrimpy! Now for the guys up there!" It took a few moments, but he finally reached the group of pufferfish. "Hey, look! It's Puffy and Puffy!"

"Yeah, great. At least we can focus on these guys now!" With a bit more enthusiasm, the young woman grabbed two more chips, and placed one of them into her PET; a blue cannon with a pinkish background. "Battlechip, Hi-Cannon! Slot in!"

Once more, SplashMan's arm became blue...well, bluer, as it took the shape of the cannon. He moved back and forth, before realizing that the PET readings made it kinda obvious what kind of Puffy he should be blasting to smithereens. He trained it towards one of the spikier ones, and let forth a mighty blast towards it, capable of eliminating it with a single hit. Of course, by now he was a little tired from the swimming and the firing and the concentrating and the previous battle's getting sucker blasted by a LarkEX. "Ugh, I'm a little tired now..."

"Shoot, it won't let me send more than one chip now, too! Oh well, you'll have to make do with this." She placed the chip she had taken out back in her folder, and removed another Mettaur-related chip; one where it was bending over, using its helmet to protect it. "Battlechip, Guard! Slot in!"

The shield formed in front of the Navi, but he didn't really like his odds; a 1-hit shield against three viruses. And there was still the matter of those things at the bottom. What were they, anyway? Everything seemed to be going according to plan so far, but he was hardly out of the woods just yet...or tide pool, for that matter...

[Order of Turn:
1-Shotgun chip attack on ShrimpyB (50)

3-Hi-Cannon chip attack on SenbonB (80)
4-Guard1 chip attack (60-, Reflects an attack)]
The Shotgun successfully wipes the remaining Shrimpy off the face of the earth ... well, sea. He then swims upwards until he breaks the surface, treading water in the warm tidepool. The relaxing nature of the moment, however, is broken when he EXPLODES THE HELL OUT OF THE SENBON WITH A HICANNON!

He brings up the Guard, and things go wrong. The remaining Senbon that hadn't been blowed the hell up fired a few needles into the air. The first one collides with the Guard and disappates it, reflecting back and smashing into it for minor damage, but the remaining two drop down and collide with Splashman.

The three veiled figures at the bottom continue to do absolutely nothing, but Splashman can feel their optics watching him from below...

(Fun Fact: I had completely forgotten I even had a TwinFang chip until I randomly noticed it in my folder while making this post. Also, I completely forgot that BubbleSpreader Puffy wasn't a pufferfish like the AquaNeedle counterpart. (smacks Capcom again for naming two different viruses Puffy) Fun times.)

So, that was what getting hit by an AquaNeedle was like. Needless to say, it wasn't fun. "Owww...I'm starting to hurt all over..."

"Hang on a little longer, okay? As soon as all the Puffy are gone, we can focus on you!" Precisely one chip featuring a green cannon with crosshairs was inserted into the PET. "Battlechip, MarkCannon! Slot in!"

SplashMan's arm turned green and cannon-shaped, and was pointed forwards. Almost instantly, its signature marker appeared in front of it, and swept back and forth...until it was over the virus that had dared attack the Navi. At this point, the cannon and the arm attached to it suddenly moved over to take aim at the Puffy, and let loose with the only shot it had.

"Okay, let's not let up! But, I dunno how to finish the Puffy without a sword or taking a hit..." Sabrina hastily rummaged through her folder. Nothing really looked good besides AquaSword, and she wanted to save that...huh? A chip suddenly caught her attention; one with a walrus with a sailor's hat on a beach. She never really heard of a beach on the Net, but this wasn't really the time to focus on that. "Ah, here we go!" And one chip insertion later... "Battlechip, TwinFang! Slot in!"

A needle-like missile appeared on each side of the Navi's arm, who looked them over for a moment. "TwinFang?...Oh right, TwinFang! Didn't remember it for a sec..." At least using it didn't require much memory, in that all he did was point his arm in-between the pair of blowfish viruses, and let the fangs fly like a pair of torpedos to inflict some damage.

"And now, let's finish 'em off!" A pair of Shotgun chips were slammed into the PET, temporarily joining the one that had already been used. "Battlechip, Shotgun! Double slot in!"

SplashMan's arm obtained the blue gun once more, and pointed it towards one of the Puffy. Without bothering to say anything beforehand, he released a single blast at the virus, then focused on the other one, repeating the basic process of aiming and shooting. However, instead of enjoying the fact that he may very well be alone at the surface now, he looked down towards the bottom, and flinched. "What's down there, anyway...?"

Sabrina was a bit worried about what was below her Navi, as well. "I dunno. Hopefully they'll leave you alone a little longer..."

No matter how long he stared down at the darkness, nothing was making itself known. There was darkness, and what seemed like three shadows in it, but that's all SplashMan could make out. "Okay...I don't wanna go down there..."

Without even really paying attention to her Navi, Sabrina grabbed a chip with a '+80' on it, and inserted it into her PET. "Here, heal up! Battlechip, Recover80! Slot in!"

The Aqua Navi glowed for a moment as the needle and water blast induced pain faded away. "Ahh...much better! But I still don't wanna go down there..."

"Well, I got an idea. I want you...to float around and do absolutely nothing!"

"Uh...okay, but that'll make the battle kinda long..."

"Well, not if my idea works!" A chip that seemed like it had never been used was inserted into the PET; a disembodied hand with some kind of device with a '3' on it. "Battlechip, TimeBomb! Slot in!"

"Time-wha?" A decent sized bomb appeared a bit in front of him, with a digital 3 on it. "So...how does this work again...?"

"We wait until it explodes. The description says it hits all enemies. Dunno if it works in multiple levels like this, but...worth a shot, right?"

"Sure!" And so, SplashMan re-focused his gaze downward, towards...whatever it was down in the darkness. They hadn't done anything yet, but if they did...he'd be ready.

Unfortunately, it appears, and just floats on the surface, bobbing up and down while it's timer slowly ticks away. It obviously wasn't about to start sinking any time soon.

Suddenly, three distinct explosions rippled off deep underwater; the trio of unknown viruses that lay on the sea bed had to have been the culprits. While Splashman hadn't been damaged in any way, one couldn't help but wonder what could've made such a noise.

(OOC: As much as I would love him to have 150 HP, SplashMan's present max is only 140)

From SplashMan's experiences, unexpected explosions were usually bad. Sure, the most recent ones hadn't hurt him any, but it still unnerved him a bit. "What the heck is down there? If they can make explosions, I really, really, REALLY don't wanna go down there..."

"Yeah..." Sabrina thought for a moment, before grabbing another pair of Shotgun chips. Sometimes having a lot of them paid off. "Well, you're way up there, but maybe you can still attack them. And if TimeBomb doesn't work, not doing anything's just a waste of time. So..." Both chips were placed in the PET, one right after the other. "Battlechip, Shotgun! Double slot in!"

For the third time during that battle, the blue gun formed on the Navi's arm, who looked down towards the darkness. "Okay...this is kinda a shot in the dark..."

"No pun intended, right?"

"Yeah..." He aimed the Shotgun downwards, but couldn't quite find a good spot to shoot at. There was darkness, and that was about it that he could see. ...Wait, he thought he could see something. He quickly pointed it towards whatever it was, and let loose with a single shot. ...And wasn't that something over there? Again, he aimed at what he thought he saw, and fired the gun once more. However, even after the Shotgun faded, SplashMan's main focus was downwards. He didn't even notice the large bomb in front of him had changed its number to 2. He couldn't really do much, just float there and be highly wary towards the shadows...
