Runeknight's Escort Service

Runeknight travels farther and finds.
A fat man in a blue buisness suit and a top hat?
"HAHA! YOU CAN'T CATCH ME!" the fat man laughed as he mooned Runeknight as dashed off, ridiculously fast, towards the distance.
Oh it's on now.

-BATTLE 5-
-CHASE THE FAT MAN! GO!-
"Well that..." Zan was almost at a loss for words. "That certainly was strange."

"Aye Sire," Runeknight responded. "I should pursue and apprehend him."

The knight grasped Arion's reins in one hand and grabbed the saddle horn with the other. He slipped his left foot into the stirrup and leaped astride Arion's back, his right leg sailing over the horse to allow him to land firmly in the saddle. Runeknight slipped his other foot into its stirrup and kneed Arion as he cracked the reins, willing the stallion into a gallop after the fleeing Navi. The wind picked up as the horse charged and Runeknight knew that the fat man had no chance. The strange Navi was fast, but Arion was faster and with the horse to guide him, the knight could concentrate on slowing down his prey.

"So," Zan asked nonchalantly. "How do you feel about this?"

"I know not, Sire." Runeknight's answer was truthful. "In truth, I care not that the man has mooned me. Petty insults mean nothing in the face of my greater duty. Nor do I know if he understands my profession. However, this Navi has insulted an officer of the law in a rude and indecent manner. He should in the least be reprimanded."

"I see. Just be careful."

"Sire? I hardly think one man and his childish ways will pose much threat."

"I know, but it seems odd somehow. It could be a trap. I've heard some interesting things over the radio. There is a fight that just broke out in Netopia Net. A NetPolice Convoy was attacked."

"Is our assistance needed?"

"No, but I feel uneasy. I can't help but think that something big is going down and I don't want you to ride right into a trap. You have permission to pursue, but be careful and remain vigilant."

"As you say, Sire."

Runeknight leaned low in the saddle, his head inches from Arion's powerful neck, to avoid slowing down the stallion. For being a rotund Navi, the mooner was ludicrously nimble. The knight was certain that Arion could catch the man, but he did not want to spend too long on the chase. Runeknight allowed his right hand to drop from the reins and hand down low. He could feel a slight charge of energy and he responded by stretching his hand wide. A gout of cobalt flame materialized within his palm and twisted to form his trusty crossbow, the black lacquered weapon already locked and loaded.

"Cease and desist," Runeknight called out to the fleeing Navi. "I am an officer of the NetPolice. You are hereby under arrest for indecent exposure. If you continue to run, you will be charged with resisting arrest and I will be forced to apprehend you by more physical means."

Runeknight glanced down at the quarrel fitted within the bow. It was a beautiful arrowhead carved in the shape of a bird of prey, the razor sharp beak open to reveal two deadly hooks. It wasn't very practical as far as arrows went, but it looked fancy enough and Runeknight knew that practicality mattered little where his lord's magic was concerned. Runeknight took aim, centering his sights on the center of the fleeing target. He hated to shoot a man in the back, but if the fleeing individual did not give himself up, Runeknight was prepared to do what he must.

"NYAHAHAHAHAHA~ Silly NP Officers like you don't scare me! Whatever~ I do what I want!" the fat man taunted, flashing Runeknight this time as he dashed further into the net.
Oh it's ON now... possibly.

"As you wish," Runeknight muttered. "Know that you have been warned."

The dark knight raised his crossbow, his sights set on the dead center of the rotund Navi's back. The hooked beak of the arrowhead glimmered with a golden light as the spell held within the weapon began to ignite. Runeknight stared at the golden glow, his lips moving of their own accord as mystic syllables were ripped from his throat.

"The origin of all things consumed by the flames of creation...The inferno reborn, I summon thee. Arise! Phoenix!"

Runeknight slid his finger over the trigger and squeezed. The bolt left the crossbow, trailing a crimson line over the battlefield as it sailed toward the back of the fleeing suspect. Halfway between predator and prey, the arrow ignited to a fiery sphere of crimson heat. Four wings, each lined with flames, lifted from the fiery sphere and caused it to spiral forward. Two simultanious shrieks rent the air and twin birds of massive size, each layered in a crimson inferno, emerged from the spiraling flames; twins born from the fires of creation.

The two phoenixes soared high over the battlefield, their keen eyes staring straight for the man who was fleeing their master. They screeched in unison and swooped down into a plummet, hurdling through the sky toward their prey. As they neared the fleeing Navi, the avian infernos opened their beaks once more, a sound like the roar of a lion and the boom of thunder spreading over the land. Jets of flame erupted from the beaks, each threatening to engulf the Navi below.

"Noble flames," Runeknight intoned. "Within thee the power to kindle life and to devour the soul. All consuming fire...Converge and may the darkness weep. King Crimson!"

The twin phoenixes screeched a third and final time before plummeting down once more. The fiery birds swirled around each other, moving into a tight corkscrew before converging into a tornado of flames that soared after the fleeing man. A second explosion sounded and a face emerged from the crimson whirlpool. The face formed from the flames was a beastly thing, like that of a lion or a bear, but with long spiraling horns that sprouted from each side of its head. The beast roared, a deafening sound that signaled death and destruction. The swirling flames bore down on the fleeing Navi, the beast's mouth gaping wide as lava dripped from fangs forged from molten steel. King Crimson would devour the fleeing Navi, bathing him in the flames of destruction and consuming everything in his path.

"It's not done yet," Runeknight whispered as Arion ran on.

RuneSteed: Chasing...

FatMan's bulk suppresses one shot, but he still takes all the rest.
"HOT! HOT! HOT!" the portly opponent screamed as he ran farther in.
Doesn't seem like he'll stop.
But he does! And then he sends some tremors through the ground straight at Arion, making some cracked panels in the path. The shockwave hits the Support Unit, but it grunts, probably pursuing.

"Bah," Runeknight cursed as the shockwave of energy collided with Arion. "Are you alright, Arion?"

The armored horse galloped on without complaint, barely effected by the wave of force that had been generated by the flabby Navi. However, Runeknight could see the damage wrought by the fat man's ploy, a path of devestation and cracked earth that lead straight to the galloping stallion. Runeknight knew that the blasted earth could give way at any moment and he dreaded the prospect of plummeting to an early demise.

"Keep straight," Runeknight urged the stallion. "Do not stop, no matter what. Continue running and we shall succeed."

Runeknight knew that his weight was slowing Arion down and that, if they were to survive, he would have to lighten the horse's load. He focuses his thoughts on the fleeing Navi, willing himself to be infront of his rotund prey. Cobalt flames sprung up around the knight as he positioned himself to leap off of Arion's saddle. Runeknight jumped, trusting in Zanallen to guide his motions, and the cobalt flames consumed him.

A second gout of eldrich flame erupted a few feet in front of the overweight Navi and Runeknight appeared within it. The dark knight was grasping the handle of a massive sword, the blade seemingly carved from an obsidian slab and engraved with a single runic marking, the Rune of Breaking. Runeknight tightened his grip on the black leather wrapped around the handle of the blade, both gauntleted fists clasped tightly, and swung the blade in a horizonal slice. The air whistled as the massive sword cut through it, the jet black blade was a shadow devouring the light as it sought its target. At this range, there was no way the fat Navi would be able to dodge such a devestating horizontal strike, no matter his incredible speed.

"Sire," Runeknight shouted. "Guide my hand."

The gigantic obsidian blade shattered, a cloud of dust obscuring Runeknight's vision momentarily. He could not be certain of his strike, but surely the Navi could not dodge. As the obsidian faded to digital dust, Runeknight was left clutching the hilt of a much smaller blade, crafted of blackened steel and shining with numerous cobalt runes. The knight lifted the sword high, the silver hilt glinting in the light of the Net, and sliced down at the rotund Navi, hoping to keep him unbalanced and unable to run. Runeknight twisted, flashing the sword in a backhand meant to remove the fat Navi's head from his shoulders.

Runeknight mumbled a quick spell as he brought his free hand up, palm stretched out toward his opponent. Four blasts of cobalt flames erupted from the dark knight's armored palm and sailed toward the fat Navi. The gouts of fire formed lances as they spiraled toward their target, the spell empowered to pierce any defense and consume the very soul of its victim.

Runeknight spied Arion galloping toward him. If the fat man continued to run, the knight was prepared to leap upon his stallion once more and him down. There would be no escape.

RuneSteed: Continue chasing
FatMan is knocked out by Runeknight's attacks... he seems to be... sleeping?
"I don't wanna go home mama..." the person snores.
It seems that FatMan's HP is rising back... Hm, better capture him now... if you have anything that can actually hold him down.

((A seriously hope this is sufficiently epic...))

Runeknight stood back as FatMan.Exe fell to the floor, seemingly unconscious. He suspected a ruse, as he knew his attacks would have had no lasting effect, but the rotund Navi's sleep seemed genuine. He gazed at the slumbering bulk of FatMan.Exe, weighing his options. He would have to somehow disable the Navi for transport.

"Sire," Runeknight asked piped up. "How shall I proceed?"

"Hmm," Zan paused. "I am not sure. We'll need to stop him from escaping, but I don't think we have the proper materials. Perhaps we could freeze him?"

"Freeze, Sire?"

"Yeah, we can use the WideShot and IceWave together to attempt to freeze him while he sleeps."

"But Sire, I loathe the thought of bringing harm to a helpless individual."

"True, but he's a tad too dangerous to leave unattended."

"Aye Sire. But still..."

"I know it is something you would rather not do, but his abilities seem dangerous. His speed, along with his ability to create those cracked panels, makes his a dangerous foe. If we aren't careful in escorting him to a secure Cell Server, he could end up outmaneuvering us and trapping you within those cracked panels or dropping you into a pit altogether."

"Aye, tis true. I shall do as you say, Sire."

"No worries, Runeknight. It is a tad unfair, but he'll be alright in the long run. Honor is important, but at times it is more important to protect yourselves and your allies. Now, I'm going to send you the WideShot and IceWave BattleChips. Use the WideShot first to hose him down and then the IceWave to freeze him. It should work and allow us to escort him to the Cell Server without incident."

"As you say, Sire."

Runeknight could feel the familiar surge of energy flow through his body, starting at his chest and working its way through his limps until it filled every inch of his being. He channeled the surge of power, forcing it to the palm of his left hand. A sphere of flowing azure energy materialized within his grasp, swirling in a clockwise motion like a whirlpool enclosed within a globe. Runeknight pulled back his arm and sliced his hand through the air, a backhand slice that sent the orb of energy spiraling toward the prone figure of FatMan.Exe. If Runeknight's aim was true, the orb of swirling energy splash against the prone form of the slumbering Navi and drench him from head to toe.

Runeknight brought up his right hand as a second surge of energy rippled through his body. Once more a sphere formed within his grasp, those this orb was crafted from a light blue crystal, flawless and pure as freshly fallen snow. The dark knight took a few steps back, adjusting his aim slightly to a point just short of FatMan.Exe. He hurled the orb to the ground, a wave of ice and snow escaping the shattered crystal and lumbering forward. The icy wave would overtake the snoozing Navi and coat him in snow. If Zan's ploy was successful, the wave of ice and coating of water would interact and leave FatMan.Exe frozen solid upon the ground.

"It is done, Sire." Runeknight's voice was solemn.

"Cheer up," Zan said. "It's our only choice to prevent needless injury."

"As you say, Sire, but has your plan worked?"

"No telling. We'd better hurry and get him transported just in case though, savvy?"

"Aye, Sire." Runeknight turned to become to the black stallion that waited a few yards away. "Arion, to me!"

The horse whinnied in response and wanted toward his master. Runeknight moved toward Arion in order to adjust the saddle so that he could drape the rotund villain across the stallion's back.

"What do you think you are doing?" The voice was cold, deadly.

Runeknight spun around, searching for the origin of the voice. He could see no one but Arion and FatMan.Exe.

"Show yourself!" Runeknight shouted.

"Runeknight?" Zan spoke up. "Who are you talking to?"

"Did you not hear the voice, Sire?"

"No. I didn't here anything." Zan paused for a moment while he checked his screen. "And the scanners aren't picking up anyone either."

"Strange..."

"I asked you a question, fool." The voice sounded irritated.

"There it is again!" Runeknight shouted.

"I've still got nothing..." Zan seemed worried.

"I shall find the source of this voice, Sire." Runeknight muttered. "Arion, guard the prisoner."

Arion neighed in agreement as Runeknight stepped away from the horse. He could see no one aside from the black stallion and the slumbering Navi. Obviously neither of them could be the source of the sinister voice. His Lordship could not hear the voice either, nor did he sense its owner with his sensors. However, Runeknight was sure that he had heard it...And where there was a voice, one must find the speaker.

"Who are you?" Runeknight asked.

"It matters not," the voice answered. "What matters is that you answer my question. Are you truly going to hand over that scum to some incompetent guard?"

"What?"

"That...Grotesque individual that you captured. Do you truly plan to escort him to some Cell Server where he'll live in peace until released?"

"Aye. It is my duty as an officer of the law. We remove the undesirable element from the Net, either deleting those that offer no choice or imprisoning them for rehabilitation. It is the way..."

"It is a fool's choice and you are more the fool for accepting those as your options."

"How dare you..."

"Runeknight...?" Zan asked again, but the knight could barely hear him.

"I say we delete this scum. End his miserable life and save yourself the trouble of escorting his fat ass to a Cell." The voice practically purred.

"Nay! Tis dishonorable. My duty is not to kill the helpless. He may have broken the law, but he need not be deleted."

"Ha! But he's "dangerous". Say he escapes or, as more often, the incompetents allow him his freedom. What if he continues his foolish campaign?"

"Then I, or one of my fellow officers, shall capture him again and he shall receive a harsher punishment. It is the way."

"Ha! And if he kills another Navi? Would that not be your fault for not finishing him when you had the chance...?"

"..."

"No answer, eh? I thought not."

"I will not harm a helpless foe."

"But you already have!"

"Only to secure him for transport."

"Your reasoning amuses me. So you will not harm a defenseless Navi unless it is more convenient to do so?"

"No!" Runeknight bellowed.

"But you just said..." The voice was soft, velvety.

"You twist my words!"

"Justify your actions as you will. You know the truth. Is your conscience truly so shallow?"

"To hell with ye. Show yourself, now!"

"Now, now. Don't have a conniption, my dear Alistair."

"How do you know that name?"

"I know quite a bit about you...After all, I am you."

"What?"

Runeknight stared forward as the light of the Net seemed to dim considerably. A man clad head to toe in dark armor appeared before him, seeming to step out of the darkness and come from nowhere to stand before Runeknight. He recognized the man instantly as it was himself.

"Sire...Do you see...?"

"He cannot see me, fool. How could he? Humans are blind to the truth of this world."

"Nay, Milord Zanallen is truly a great man."

"It seems you are as blind as he is then. Have you given into the lies of the humans? They are as cattle to us. Why serve the inferior race?" The voice seemed like a whisper. It came from the armored individual, but also from all around Runeknight.

"What are you?!"

"I have answered your question. Ask again and I shall be forced to respond quite unfavorably."

"I care not."

"Oh, but you should, but let us move onto more important matters. Kill this fool."

"No, I will not."

"Oh, but you will and you should."

"He has naught to deserve death."

"He insulted you, us. Is that not enough? He has insulted your honor and tarnished the NetPolice with his massive behind and miniscule front."

"A public display of indecency and resisting arrest. These crimes are not enough to warrant deletion."

"As per whose definition?"

"The law's definition and mine own."

"Pathetic. He tried to attack you, to kill you and your noble steed."

"Regrettable, but he has done no lasting harm. Arion shall mend and FatMan.Exe shall be incarcerated."

The stallion whinnied nervously at the mention of his name. Zan couldn't blame him as it seemed that Runeknight was having a very in depth conversation with the empty air. He was worried about his Navi, but he was unsure as to how to proceed. He could forcibly remove Runeknight from the Net, but FatMan.Exe would surely escape.

"That stupid bastard deserves death." The voice intoned.

"I think not." Runeknight answered, but his voice wavered slightly.

The voice was starting to make sense to him and that thought frightened him. It was true that FatMan.Exe could very well escape the Cell Server and continue to commit crimes. Even if the Navi served his sentence, there was that chance that it would do no good. If the Navi continued his life of crime, he could very well harm an innocent and then...Wouldn't it be partially Runeknight's fault? If he had the chance to prevent FatMan.Exe from ever harming another Navi, by taking his life here and now, should he do it? Did he have the right?

"No..." Runeknight muttered.

"YES!" His mirror image shouted, a crazed edge assaulting the smooth purr. "HE DESERVES IT! KILL HIM! REND HIS FLESH FROM HIS BONES! HE INSULTED YOU! HE ATTACKED YOU! SHOW HIM WHAT HAPPENS TO THOSE WHO ALIGN THEMSELVES AGAINST THE DARK KNIGHT!"

"Dark knight...?"

"DO IT!"

As the other Runeknight shouted, crimson blasts of energy rippled across the blackened armor. Thunder boomed in the distance and the Net seemed to darken once more. Arion faded into the darkness and Runeknight could see naught but himself and the prone form of FatMan.Exe lying helpless on the floor. The crimson bolts of energy reached the cobalt visor that obscured the face of the mirror knight, the glass cracking as the voice grew louder, the tinge of madness growing deeper.

"KILL HIM! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! THE IGNORANT FOOL DESERVES DEATH AND YOU ARE THE ONE TO GRANT HIM HIS RELIEF!"

The visor cracked, revealing a face that Runeknight saw only in his most haunted memories. The man's crimson eyes were wide, cracks spreading wide on each side to reveal a deep darkness that lurked just below the skin. Pale white skin was stretched thin over a gaunt face while fangs filled a mouth twisted into a perpetual smirk.

"No..." Runeknight whispered. "You're dead. I...I killed you."

"Enough of this façade," The voice was soft once more. "If you will not come willingly, then I shall just take you."

The mirror knight lunged forward, clawed fingers stretching for Runeknight's throat. The dark knight stumbled backward, desperately trying to avoid this shade of his past. He raised a hand ward off his attacker, but it was no use. The crazed attacker reached Runeknight and seemed to fade into him, merging with him to become one. Runeknight's body stood rigid and everything grew quiet.

"Runeknight?" Zan's voice broke the silence. "Damn it! Answer me! Can you hear me? Son of a..."

"Silence!" Runeknight shouted.

"What?" Zan was stunned at the tone of his Navi's voice. "What the hell just-"

"I said, shut the hell up, you insignificant dog!"

"Just who the hell..."

"If you don't stop talking, I shall merely terminate the voice connection."

"That's it! I'm jacking you out."

"Nay, fool. The first thing I disabled was the EJO System. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have something to take care of."

Runeknight moved forward to stand over the prone body of FatMan.Exe. He could not tell if the Navi was frozen, or merely sleeping, and in truth he did not care. The knight stretched the fingers of his left hand before closing it into a tight fist. Three blades of blackened steel emerged slowly from between the knuckles of his gauntlet. Crimson sparks of energy flowed between the serrated blades, bathing the rotund Navi in a blood red sheen.

"What?" Zan was speechless. "That BattleChip? How the hell...?"

"I believe it is time to terminate our connection, mortal." Runeknight spat, disabling the microphone and cutting off whatever Zan was about to say. "Peace at last...Now I can finally get to the fun part."

Runeknight stared down at the slumbering form that lay at his feet. It would be easy to snuff out that life, almost too easy...But it had to be done. FatMan.Exe had insulted him, had tried to attack him, and no one that foolish could be allowed to live. Runeknight dropped to his knees, thrusting his fist down in a blazing arc toward FatMan.Exe's neck. The serrated blades whistled briefly as they sliced the air between them and their target. There was a satisfying crunch and sloppy sound that pleased some visceral need within the knight. It was a primal feeling, a vicious need for death and destruction, to feel his opponent's blood drip from the edge of his blades. Runeknight smashed his fist down a second time, and a third, each blow thrusting the trio of blades toward FatMan.Exe's chest and stomach. He wanted the fool to suffer for his idiocy. No one confronted the dark knight and lived to tell the tale.

"Heh...Ha...hahaha..." Runeknight laughed in a panting voice. "That felt good."

The knight rose to his feet, a trail of crimson cascading from his fist. The once black gauntlet was stained a deep red that would soon fade to a rusty brown crust. Flecks of crimson dotted the knight's armor and helmet as well, a splatter of thick red liquid running down the far left side of his visor. Runeknight smiled, a cruel smirk that revealed strangely sharpened teeth. He held the bloody fist up to his face, examining the wicked blades that sprouted from the space between his knuckes. The trio of serrated blades felt natural, as though they had always been there. He felt whole as he gazed upon them, their surface slick with blood.

"Heh..." He muttered. "Oh the fun we'll have together..."

A snort sounded from behind the knight and he whirled around to gaze upon the horse that stood off to his right. The stallion had a wild look in his eyes. Arion did not know what was happening to his master, but he did not like it. The once friendly warrior was now emitting an aura that was distinctly unfriendly, almost downright evil.

"You..." Runeknight muttered. "Arion was it? A spirit horse, shackled to this realm by that pathetic human...Rune magic, indeed. You may go."

"No," Zan spoke softly. He knew that Runeknight could not hear him, but perhaps Arion still could. "Arion, follow him. Runeknight is not himself and I don't know if I can aid him if he is attacked. I need you to follow him until I can remove him from the Net."

The stallion snorted in response, a snort that Zan hoped was agreement. Arion moved closer to Runeknight and bent its head to nibble on some bug fragments that lay scattered on the floor. He didn't look at Runeknight, but neither did he turn away.

"Bah, fine." Runeknight spat. "Do as you wish. Perhaps you'll be of some use to me...As a meatshield."

The knight turned, ignoring the horse as though it had comepletely vanished from his mind, and stalked deeper into the Net, trailing a path of blood from his gauntlet.
Runeknight encounters... a boat?
What the heck is a boat doing here?
And where did this black sea come from?
Oh whatever, must be some random traveling net glitch.
The boat looks big enough to fit both Runeknight and Arion. It's got paddles too.
So, will you ride the boat? Or will you try to swim for it? I don't know dude, that water doesn't look cool to me.

[Boat/Swim?]
"The hell?" Runeknight muttered. "What fool created this?"

The dark knight examined the boat and the black lake that it rested near. The lake was large, far too wide for him to walk aroud without inconveniencing himself. He didn't know how deep the lake was and didn't want to risk a swim while dressed in full plate armor. He supposed he could force the horse to gallop though, but the stallion's death would help him little. The boat looked like his only option to cross swiftly.

"Of all the irritating...Come, horse."

Runeknight stepped into the boat and allowed Arion to step in behind him. It seemed that the Navi would have to row the boat to get across, a situation that he did not relish, but he had little choice. If only the damn horse had arms and hands.

"Bah...Let us go. I need to leave this pitiful place and find the Acolytes as soon as possible."

"Acolytes...?" Zan muttered. He could hear the Navi, but Runeknight could not, or would not, listen to him.

The dark knight took an oar in each hand and dipped them into the black water. His strokes sent the boat moving out onto the water. He was determined to finish this as fast as possible.

((Boat))
Runeknight paddles along and finds a giant rock in his way. The rock evens out two paths. One to the left seems filled with rocks. One to the right seems calm and peaceful, possibly empty.
So, which path shall our protagonist choose?

[Left/Right?]
"Heh..." Runeknight muttered. "What an obvious trap. Now...How to proceed?"

The dark knight scanned the two paths. One seemed calm and serene, the black lake stretching unhindered to the right of the massive boulder. The left path was littered with smaller boulders, making the path treacherous. He did not like the look of the water, and did not relish taking a swim if his boat was to be sunk.

"What to do...?" Runeknight turned to Arion. "Steed. Do you have an opinion?"

Arion snorted in response and shook his head to the left and right, his mane flying wildly. The stallion was skittish and did not like the feeling of water under his feet.

"Bah, noble steed indeed..." Runeknight made the words an insult. "I should have known that you would be useless. Just like that fool of a NetOp..."

Runeknight scanned his options once more. It seemed that the serene path was far too convenient, as though he were being steered toward it. It seemed that the right path was where the trap would be located. The left path would be difficult to transverse, but it would probably confuse whomever was attempting to trap him.

"To the left then..."

((Left))
((Oh dear.))
Runeknight paddles to the left, bumping into really frickin' narrow and craggy rocks on the way. (10) He then comes to a clearing. A bit later, some figures dart eerily around in the water. Some time later, Runeknight and Arion are capsized and forced into... knee-deep water?
5 mermaids perch themselves on a rock nearby and lick their lips greedily as they eye Runeknight. They start to sing a haunting, yet enticing melody which god has no intent on composing to hurt innocent ears. They then dive under the water yet again and resurface, charging toward Runeknight.

((Hmm...This could be problematic. As such, I shall adjust and only use BattleChips that I know that I had as Chaos: IceWave1, RageClaw, ShotGun, BigHammer1 and Cannon. Those, along with my SigAttks, should allow me to win this puppy.))

"Ha!" Runeknight chuckled mirthlessly. "This is it? This is the trap, set by gods know who, to ensnare me? A quintet of watery sluts, whose whore of a mother spread her legs for a fish? Give me a break..."

The mermaids were charging toward him, moving sleekly through the knee-deep water. The knight could feel the black ocean draining him, the icy waters sapping his strength. He would not last long within the waters and, despite his bravado, he was more than at a disadvantage. He shifted his stance, his armored legs moving through the water at a sluggish pace, and awaited the charging mass.

"Perhaps we should make the playing field a tad more even?" Runeknight murmured.

Crimson lightning crackled along the knight's jetblack armor, casting warped shadows across the ebony ocean. The dark knight raised his left hand, a sphere of midnight forming admist a field of blood red energy. The darkness seemed to harden as quickly as it had formed, creating a solid orb of what looked to be black ice.

"The Icewave?" Zan muttered. "How can that be?"

The NetOp scanned the pile of chips sitting on his father's desk. The IceWave BattleChip sat amongst the pile, untouched. He didn't know what was going on, but an odd feeling of forboding crept up his spine. He sorted through the BattleChips at hand, his mind racing wildly at the implications.

"The RageClaw...And now the Icewave. Those were two of the BattleChips that were requisitioned to me. They belonged to some criminal...Along with the BigHammer, the ShotGun and the Cannon...And a few others. Were they all tainted? Who, or what, possesed these chips before Runeknight and I got ahold of them?"

The dark knight laughed as he spied the mermaids continuing their charge. They had no idea of what they were up against. The icy sphere cracked within his grasp. He knew it was ready. It was time. Runeknight hurled the sphere into the water, straight into the path of the rushing mermaids. The sphere shattered when it hit the dark water, forming a lance of ice and snow that spread, threatening to engulf and entrap the foolish fish-wenches.

"Heh, I like my sushi served chilled. Though where is the harm in a little barbecue?"

Runeknight moved to the side of his iceflow, keeping it between himself and the group of mermaids. He knew how fast aquatic creatures were while in the water, and he didn't want to be caught unaware. He moved, eyeing the forms of the mermaids within the dark water; however, he knew that he couldn't run. The predator never ran from his prey.

More bolts of crimson energy cascaded across Runeknight's armor, the electricity building to a climax. The Navi stared at the mass of mermaids, focusing his mind, and consequently the rage that was building within him, on the two outermost mermaids. The Navi raised his hand into the air, calling forth death and destruction on those that had the gall to oppose him. Crimson bolts of lightning flashed through the air as the sky roared in protest. The sizzling lances of electricity forked toward two of the mermaids, threatening to impale them and send their charred corpses to the bottom of the see.

"Talk about a fish fry," Runeknight quipped. "The Lord's Jugement, indeed. It is my jugement that need be feared."

The dark knight sends a blast of ice at the first Mermaid, freezing her solid as she leaps out of the water. He then sends a destructive electrical current to two more charging, ridding them from sight. The two others cried out in their loss and proceeded to charge at Runeknight and Arion, hitting the support unit once, banishing him away, and Runeknight twice. Things were not going well.

((Zan, Runeknight must sing! Sing, I tell you, SING!!!))
((Completely forgot about this battle...Finishing now))

"Heh," the demonic Runeknight chuckled darkly as he gazed at the trio of mermaids. "You've killed my pet with your shrieking undulations. We should really place licenses on such terrible singing."

Runeknight stepped forward, his deformed arm pulsating with waves of scarlet energy. The single crimson eye visible behind his shattered visor stared with an intense madness. Droplets of spittle escaped the Navi's lips to cascade down and splatter against his scarred and pitted armor. Despite his calm words, Runeknight's face was that of a lunatic; one charged with a dark, writhing energy that drove him to commit the most heinous of acts.

"Allow me to show you how it is done," Runeknight murmured in a rich baritone.

Ripples of scarlet energy danced down Runeknight's "normal" arm, ending in sparks that flew from his fingertips. Bolts of crimson fire escaped the knight's grasp and formed a massive sledgehammer formed of black steel and white bone. The head of the hammer was formed of a large human skull, mouth agape to allow the flat, crushing plate to emerge. Runeknight swung the hammer a few times, testing its weight, and then turned toward the mermaids, hefting the weapon onto his shoulder.

"Forgive me if I am a little...Flat. It has been awhile since I've had to sing for an audience. Still, I believe this to be a...Smashing success." Runeknight started forward at a leisurely pace, his crazed eyes intent on the mermaids' every action as his words came out in a sing-song voice:

"Look at this hammer, isn't it sweet?
With it I could smash your head to your feet.
Wouldn't you say I'm the man?
The one who'll kill, anything?

I've raped and I've pillaged a plenty,
I've committed murders and assaults galore.
You like NetPolice? I've killed twenty.
But who cares? It's never enough...
I want mooooooooore!"

Runeknight moved in a sudden blur, swinging the hammer with all his might, not at the frozen mermaid as one might expect, but at one of her companions. The hammer seemed to shriek as it sliced through the air, as through the skull adorning the weapon had come to life to cry its lament. The hammer was swung in a horizontal smash, meant to crush the chest of whomever it hit, shatter the ribs and pulverize the heart.

The Navi dropped the hammer with his normal hand and snatched at the closest mermaid with his deformed claw. He attempted to lift the fishy woman into the air with his claw, to crush the life from her as scarlet bolts of power flashed across his skin and the remnants of his armor. Runeknight twisted his hips, attempting to fling the mermaid over his body and hurl her toward another of her kind.

Free of the mermaid, Runeknight dashed back, his legs moving swiftly despite the knee deep water. He cut a wide swath across the battlefield, intent on the frozen mermaid who lay just beyond his reach. The Navi unleashed a feral growl as blood red flames erupted along his massive arm. The flames swirled around the clawed appendage, dancing and writhing to converge within the space between the deformed clawed fingers. Runeknight came upon the frozen mermaid and smashed his massive arm forward, gigantic strength and consuming flames threatening to obliterate the entrapped sea hag.

"Hahaha," Runeknight laughed as he danced away once more. "Are you bitches ready for the next verse?"

Summary:
Rune of Vigor is active (Heals for 25)
1. BigHammer1 (160, Break) to MermaidD
2. Shotgun (50) to MermaidD with Splash (50) to MermaidE
3. Dodge
4. Rune Blast (100, Fire, Breaking) to MermaidA ((200 DMG due to breaking on frozen target?))
5. Dodge
Runeknight brutally slams his BigHammer into the chest of the first Mermaid he comes across, a sickening crunch is heard as the aquatic foe rasply coughed out data over the weapon. Dematerializing the warhammer, the chaotic warrior brutally grabbed the neck of the enemy he had just sledgehammered, positioned her in line with another of her companions, and slammed them both with piercing, crimson bolts of energy. The first let out a terrible shriek as she was deleted and the other groaned in pain, clutching her chest at the spot where Runeknight had shot her.
The fire navi cackled madly as he dashed toward the frozen mermaid from before, encasing his enormous claw with his new signature flames, and punched forward, piercing the enemy through the chest. Data dripped out of the wound caused by the blow, seeping over the chaos knight's arm, and the siren coughed out data onto Runeknight's armor. Her eyes rolled back, and then she was forcefully ejected from the system.
The final mermaid shrunk back as far as she could from the knight, shivering and holding her body close to her. "Please, no more, I beg of you," she pleaded, tears rolling down her eyes.
What to do? Might be a trap you know.
The Rune of Vigor and the Water's debilitating effect cancels each other out, but the signature move is stronger.
