SINN's Circuit.

"All systems green. Begin mission."

SINNBAD was a handsome navi. Gray-eyed and graceful, the knight filled out his armor well. He wore leather boots, woolen pants, and moleskin gloves that were all the color of the morning mist in the vale. He bound this outfit in gleaming steel plates, scaled like a dragon's, over layers of gray wool and supple leather. His mantle was a thick cloak, soft and white as dove's down. A great winged helm masked his head, wings folded like horns. Wisps of dark-gray hair peeked through the cracks at the neck and eyes.

The navi beat thrice a hand against his chest as his 'Lord' commanded the advance. His armor sang out as the gauntlet drummed across his breast. The warrior then marched forward, prepared for battle.

[Battle 1: Ready.]
SINN's march did not last very long without the expected interruption, as he came upon a sizable hill with a Swordy blocking his way. The knight-virus lifted its sword and screeched a warning bellow. It was responded to by a similar one from atop the hill; it seemed that the Swordy was protecting two more viruses, a Cactus-type and a PulseBat-type. The Swordy then beckoned for SINN to make his move, gleaming sword at the ready.

The warrior stood upon a vast plain that stretched as far as the eye could see. The sun shone upon the many small hills that dotted the landscape, waxing their shadows on the side away. The grass was sparse and the ground dusty. A warm breeze picked up and swirled around the navi as he stood there looking at what lay before him, bending the short sea of brittle stems as it passed. But the silence and reflection were short lived.

A snort pierced the tranquility and a pawing of the earth made it tremble. Cresting the nearest bend of a hillock, a trio of swordsmen were gathered. They made a curious sight clustered together, huddled with their swords sheathed at their sides, conversing in the viral tongue. Two were mounted, their lower halves, once cone-shaped, had vanished for easier settling in the saddle. What was more curious was their choice of mounts. A pair of identical creatures sat on the ground, no legs to be seen. Their bodies were shaped after musical notes, as one would see in a musician's collection. The noises from before were obviously coming from them, a more melodic imitation of the real thing.

The virtuous knight rushed forth to challenge the brigands, to cleanse the Net of their putrid influence. This bold action startled the gang of bandits. They drew swords of gleaming steel and the mounted rode forward as a vanguard for the third. It was then that SINN saw what they were fawning over. An emerald diamond, as large as a small chest, rested in the crook of the grounded virus' arm. The prize of their latest conquest no doubt.

SINNBAD had struck hard and quick, dispatching the bandits and liberating the treasure... To have it explode in his face. And from then on he had faced the blackguards each time he had to take something. They seemed to pop up whenever something needed protecting, even if it was something that created disorder and chaos.

[x1] [x1] [x1]

The knight threw his long sable cloak back over his shoulders, to free his arms for battle. He reached down to his side with a gauntleted hand as a scabbard composed itself from the ether. As he took hold of the leather-bound hilt and drew the sword from its sheath, white flames poured out. The heat licked the scales of his armor, causing the steel to glitter like a dozen stars. But within moments in the open air, the fires crystallized into a translucent blade, thin and sharp.

A feint blue shimmer ran along the edge, a ghost-light that measured three-feet. SINN stepped forward bravely, his enemy known to him. Thin, dull scales crept across the front of his body, oozing from the many joints of his armor. The viscous lamina covered the soldier from the tip of his horns to the soles of his boots. A second skin that armored against the harshest blows. The air rippled around him as the knight brought up his sword in both hands.

"Dance with me."

He called out as he lifted the sword high over his head. His hands trembled a moment with the weight of the blade before his grip twisted over the haft in a tight embrace. He lunged forward suddenly, leaping across the ground toward his foe. The air shimmered between the two combatants, blurring the swordsman's body. His saber sung as he brought it down hard upon the defending virus. The air tore across the blade and his cloak, billowing out behind him like great wings of cloth.

He pitched to the right as his feet hit the ground, the dust scattering from his landing. An opaque bubble flickered in the light of the sun, surrounding the knight in a protective aegis. The dust parted around the shimmering field. His great cloak wrapped around his torso as the warrior rolled to his feet. But it slid to the side as the knight's blade flashed, lashing upward with lightning quickness. He rent from earth to sky in a dazzling display, carving through the space where the Swordy stood. SINN's opponent was most likely split in two by the sting of the knight's steel, the swiftness of his executions.

SINN then checked the hill, his eyes and ears open for the movements of the two charges. He shifted his feet in the dirt as he lay waiting their attacks. His cloak once perched over his shoulder as he brought the sword across his body. If he would have to dance from one side or another to dodge an attack, at least he had the saber where it provided a center of balance. Perhaps he would even have to move his blade in defense, should a rolling ball of spiny cactus chance upon him from above.

Producing a sword to challenge the Swordy, SINN charged towards the knight virus, brandishing his blade. As he struck, the Swordy evaded his blow and countered! But the Navi pressed onward, and parried away the attack. The Swordy was caught off-guard for a moment, and received a finishing blow that rent it from bottom to top. As he did so, however, a surprise attack came from above when he was distracted. Thankfully, his aegis repelled the attack. The PulseBat flew up high, not choosing to attack just yet.

SINNBAD's eyes fixed upward as the earth rumbled beneath his feet. He boldly held his ground as a bolder, as dry and discolored as the grasslands, rolled down the hill towards him. His feet dug into the dust and his sword held fast in his grip as the spiked sphere crashed into his barrier. The sound of the impact was deafening. The bulwark flared to life as bright as the sun, holding the aggressor at bay as the light holds the darkness at bay.

The air shook as the warrior gritted his teeth. His feet began to slip from their rest, as if he was being pushed back by a great wind. The muscles in his legs and torso tensed and bulged under his armor as he desperately fought against this strong force. Finally, after a few tense moments of struggle, he won through.

His navi symbol was a badge of honor he wore over his left breastplate. But his symbol was more than that; it was a source of his power. His coat of arms depicted an ivory tower, pristine, untainted upon a field of virginal green. Sadly, there was little room on his armor for the emerald fields of his banner, for he was not unsullied. He was a warrior, a herald of death. A soldier was one that protected the castle from without, so that those under that protection could live in paradise. But he would be denied those pleasures. It was a hard path to follow, but one that SINN had to walk.

The torchlight of his badge burned brightly as it lit up during the struggle. A mighty pulse rippled through the bubble and the cactus ball shattered, splintering into tiny pieces against the renewed force. With a hefty swing of his trusty sword, the knight scattered the remnants of the attack to the eight winds, finally putting an end to the threat.

He pushed the attack. The dust swirled around him as he dashed forward. His boots found purchase on rock and packed earth as he rushed up the embankment. Skirting the hillock as if it were nothing more than a tiny molehill, he speared at the Cacty with his sword. The sharp tip reflected a sparkle of light as his arms flexed, driving forth a piercing stab to the midsection of the virus.

With a spin of the blade, the saber came up and around toward the side of the virus' head. The warrior tightened his grip and heaved his weight into the strike. The indigo blade flashed as it sailed through the air. A heavy blow to the jugular in an attempt to lop off its crown.

With the butcher's work done, the knight held fast against the monstrous bat. Gripping the sword tightly and shifting his feet in the dirt, he watched the creature warily as it circled overhead. His cloak rippled in the strong wind of the hilltop. He raised his blade to the air and waited for the beast to come closer, close enough to strike it dead.

Running up the hill, SINN quickly dispatched the Cacty with a sweeping strike, slicing up the head in two. The PulseBat flew down and attacked with a piercing sonic shriek, but SINN managed to parry the shockwave of the attack away and shred the bat as well.

Milky green datum spurted from where the plant had been sheared in half. The quick and brutal overhand strike had split the head of the virus in two. The cactus juice dribbled all over from the pieces of carved fruit littering the ground, forming small puddles. A subsonic shriek followed the execution, biting at the knight's mind as much as the cold wind bit at his covered skin, seeking purchase. His head rang in his helmet as he looked up to see the large bat-like creature descend upon him from on high, needle-like talons outstretched.

A quick step to the side and a sweep of the sword, and the bat lay bloodied on the cold ground. Red datum leaked from a large gaping wound in its side, its right wing torn from the cut. The tattered leather flapping silently in the strong breeze. All turned to scattered code as the bodies disintegrated, blowing away with the wind.

SINNBAD flicked the warm, wet, multi-hued colors off his blade. The wind continued to howl as he stood on the hilltop, making his cloak dance behind him. He reached low and behind him, grabbing the edge of his cape. He pulled it up and ran his sword through the rough-spun cloth. With the blood cleaned off, the warrior silently returned the glowing saber to its sheath.

The blade slipped freely into its home once more, a snug fit. Moments later, both had faded back into the ether with a faint twinkling. A black stain on the inside of his cape was SINN's only reminder of the slaughter. Unarmed once more, SINN adjusted the straps of his gauntlets, pulling his gloves firm over his hands.

"Vitals are holding steady."

Destin chimed in, breaking the silence. He had been monitoring his navi during the entirety of the engagement. SINNBAD was coming into his own.

"Place the first marker here."

SINN complied without uttering a word. He reached out his right hand, held like a fist, with his thumb held parallel to the ground. He opened his fist only slightly, letting a channel form in his grip. He let the earth and sky see each other through the hole before a long pole materialized between his fingers. The metal pole speared the ground and extended past the crest of SINN's helmet. A great flag unfurled from the top of the silvered spear, a banner of green fields held in check by a single tower of white stone.

"Good. This area is secured for the time being. It's time to move on."

With that SINNBAD let go of the marker and slid down the other side of the hill. Marching onward to the next encounter.

[Battle 2: Ready.]
Moving further into the ACDC network after placing the first flag, SINN came across a deep canyon, to which a bottom could not be seen. Across the canyon, a few figures could be made out to be viruses. Two Cannondumbs stood together with two Kabutanks flanking their sides, with one Beetank slightly in the back overseeing the squad. The Cannondumbs detected SINN's approach and began to lock on to him, with the others following suit.

SINNBAD raised a mailed hand as the groan of sponsons filled the air. Ponderous cannons turned to bear upon the warrior as he stood across a great divide. The metal barrels gleamed in the sunlight as they lumbered in an effort to transfix their gaze on a small target.

SINN's stood upon the edge, eyes closed. His attention was seemingly focused on the hand held in front of his face. His first two fingers were raised together, the others bowed.

His mouth moved underneath the iron guard that protected his neck and face below the nose, the words silent. Each syllable held for a moment in contemplation, the next to follow chosen carefully. The wind howled.

A soft hum arose, a gathering rumble of melodic thunder, but it was not sung by the navi. His cloak blew around his chanting form, cocooning him in alabaster. It was as if the coat was rushing forward to strike at SINN's foes for him.

The air shimmered. The light haze bubbled outward around him, scattering dust and rolling pebbles. Like his cape, a barrier had wrapped itself around SINNBAD.

The wind reversed direction suddenly and his mantle was thrown back over his shoulders to bellow in the gust. The knight's skin had become as dull and cracked as stone, losing its pinkish shine. His suit of arms had fused to his body, becoming one.

The hum was so loud now that it drummed out the gale. The air flared blue at times, flickers of flame dancing around the mage. His outstretched fingers were alight, trailing glinting wisps from the fingertips.

He stopped his wordless summons suddenly and pointed toward the center of the formation standing across from him. The wisps that danced about him lost their charms, burning brightly as if growling. They raced from all around him, over his shoulders and around his boots, to gather upon his outstretched fingers.

A booming roar echoed across the plains as a torrent of water swept outwards from SINN's fingertips. The raging tempest thundered across the chasm toward the right side of the battle line. Icy cold drowned earth and air, bathing the right in a cleansing tide.

SINN tucked and rolled backward and to the left, hoping to avoid the retaliation. His great cape swept behind him in the dirt like a tail as he rolled. He found himself quickly to his feet, standing proud once again with the bright energy at his fingertips.

As he stood, he turned his body towards the left. The wisps gathered again and let loose another torrential downpour upon the battlements. The deluge spiraled outward from his hand like a great leviathan to crash upon the other shore. Its maw was stretched wide to devourer all in its path.

At the end of this last attack, SINN looked to see if anything survived. However, his vision was obscured by low-lying fog. The enemy lines were blanketed in moisture.

The flames returned to his hands as he shifted his feet from side to side. His eyes were pointed toward the sky to try to spot a cannon shell's screaming descent. He hoped that he would be skilled enough to dodge a projectile without moving too far from where he stood. The chasm loomed only a few feet before him since he had retreated from its edge, its maw lying open to swallow him up.

This time the flames burned red as blood. The ruby flames fanned out from his fingertips in a great conflagration as he pressed the attack. With the front line hopefully wiped out or spread thin from his earlier assault, the back line would be vulnerable. The target this time was the leader, a tank as crimson as the fire that reached out to embrace it.

The wave of searing glow swept out as a great bird, wings spread wide. The sea of flames billowed a long smoky tail in its wake, which snaked from side to side. As it closed on the enemy, the magus opened all of his fingers. The great bird pulsed larger, rearing as it was about to strike. Its massive clawed talons swept out like a dozen spears as it plunged into the cloud after its prey.

The flames pounced and pierced and burned.

Chanting an incantation to summon the arcane forces of magic, SINN blasted the enemy forces with a wave of water. Unfortunately his aim went off while he was chanting and he only hit one of the green turrets. The Cannondumb remaining continued to adjust its focus while the mobile tanks prepared to fire. And of course, they did fire. Very rapidly, too; the bombs were flying everywhere. Of course, SINN's quick thinking of jumping back during the barrage helped him survive without a scratch on even his protection. The floor in front of him was damaged heavily by the bombing, and broke into little pieces, falling into the abyss. Another barrage escaped his fingertips afterwards, which deleted two more of the viruses. Finally, a last burst of fire from the mage's incantations roasted the last of the enemies into a fine ash.

[CrackerBomb] Battlechip, 360z
SINNBAD reached out as the area across the canyon sizzled, steam rising into the air where the virus army had been obliterated. The reward datum left drifted lazily on the wind, pulled by an unseen force. It flew into SINN's hands eventually. The chip and zenny seemingly absorbed through his armored skin. The iron skin and the barrier dissipated afterwards, leaving him unarmed for a second time. He then began to walk along the side of the canyon, trying to find a place to cross.

[Battle 3: Ready.]
Walking along the canyon's edge, SINN took a while before finding a way across; a magnificently-built bridge spanned the large break, built of beautifully-carved marble and wood. One would wonder why, in the bleakness of white paneling and neverending pathways of the network, would there be a work of architecture as detailed as this. As he walked closer to the bridge, he could see two small cloaked figures working tirelessly on the bridge with a little pick, carving minute details into the marble.

What was even stranger, however, were not the figures in the middle, but the companions that worked alongside them. Along with the cloaked figures were a couple of Metools riding on green Fishy viruses, also helping to work out the carvings on each little pillar that made up the bridge. Suddenly, one the cloaked figure looked up from its work, and noticed SINN's approach. It drew back defensively, shouting to its companions, who also halted their work. The two figures put a hand inside their cloaks, and drew out two small cylinders. Upon a bit of inspection, SINN noticed the device from his earlier travels: a Miner virus's trademark landmine!

SINNBAD began to crouch, taking on his normal battle stance. As he did so, the data link between Destin's PET was pinged for battlechip data. Strangely, nothing happened. Destin had blocked the transfer. A red stop order flashed on the screen and in SINN's eyes.

The knight righted himself. His guard was dropped as he relaxed. A stream of data ran across his eyes, making it hard for him to see the viruses. Destin was communicating orders. A breeze rustled his cloak, barely able to lift it. The wool was heavy with datum and dust.

Finally, after a moment SINN raised a hand, displaying a closed palm to the viruses to hold their aggression. He held out his other arm, as another banner pole appeared to unfurl a white flag. His voice raised above the wind to carry across the bridge, the white flag billowing next to him on full display.

"Hail! I wish to entreat for safe passage across this bridge."
The Miner viruses stared at Azure as they saw him raise a hand. Looking at each other, they stayed on their guard. However, they also raised their hands, but did nothing. It looked as if they were imitating the Navi without really knowing what the gesture meant. Still, they had their other hands gripped firmly on their landmines, ready to deploy them at a moment's notice. A wind blew through the area, agitating the viruses' black cloaks. The Metools and Fishy behind the Miners watched silently, probably waiting for a signal from the black viruses.

Then, as the white flag was raised, the Miners relaxed slightly, standing up straight. They still had their landmines in hand, but it didn't seem like they would use them. One of the viruses tilted its cloaked head towards the others, and chattered in a static-ridden scattering that could probably be interpreted as a kind of crude viral language. The Fishy seemed to understand, flying up to the sides of the SINN's side of the bridge. The Metools half-raised their mattocks in a stance that showed their docile nature, but that they were also ready to attack. The Miners stepped aside from the center of the bridge, then assumed a sentry-like watch over the Navi.

Apparently diplomacy works. Convenient.

-- BATTLE AVERTED --
SINNBAD waited a minute as the viruses chattered amongst themselves and then allowed him to pass. He lowered his hand and walked across the bridge with his flag. The wind seemed stronger in the middle of the bridge. The wanderer had to put his free arm across his face and slow down to keep his footing as he pushed against the howl. Thankfully, the bridge was wide and solidly built, so he had no fear of falling off.

The construction capabilities of viruses was something that fascinated Destin. It was common knowledge that viruses were more prone to destroy something rather than build it. But there were plenty of monuments to attest to viral ingenuity. Electric fences, kennels, datum mines with cart rails, and bridges were all things that seemed to be fashioned by the viral community. It just begged the question: if 'virus' was really just a handle for any program deemed against the current socially accepted list of programs? Also: if any program could be considered 'neutral'?

"SINNBAD. I want you to look for any roads or tracks leading to or away from this bridge, or any other sign of anything or anyone associated with these builders. I want to see if these are the same 'people' involved with that data mine we ran into a month ago."

Destin stated in SINN's head as the navi finished crossing to the other side. SINN nodded, sticking the pole into the ground with a heavy hand. The banner turned green with the only white remaining in the form of a castle. He then crouched down and began looking around for footprints.

[Battle 3?]
A walk around the place did not yield much in the way of footprints, but SINN did find a small path that led from the bridge easily enough. The path looked to be quite wide, and there looked to be signs of use, such as a few sets of tire tracks. After walking through it, he arrived at a large clearing. It looked as if something had happened in the place, as a gaping hole clearly made by an explosion of some sort. Around the place, scattered remains of viruses could be seen lying around, apparent casualties of said explosion. The remains did not only seem to be victim of mere explosive force, however, as they were also riddled with purple mite-like bugs that feasted on the nearly-deleted junk data remains of the viruses.

SINNBAD scouted around for a few moments, and found something interesting; the hole in the ground seemed to have some stairs that led down into it still fully intact. Just as he was about to inspect it further, however, a cry came from behind him, causing him to turn around. A quartet of viruses called out at him in an indecipherable shriek, composed of two Champu viruses and two Swordy viruses. Immediately and without warning, they rushed him to attack!

SINN, clad in steel, turned from the rocky ledge that led into the abyss below to face his attackers. Pebbles bled from underfoot as he shifted, tumbling down the carved steps. A soft tinkling of stone on stone. His great white cape, dusty and snow covered, whipped upon his back as he stood into the gale. His gray eyes, chunks of obsidian, narrowed in the visor towards his foes.

He charged. His feet churned at the earth as he sprinted forward. The light rippled across the great armor he bore upon his form, casting golden rays across the ground. Mud began to cake about his shining boots, still damp from his last battle. The earthen casing, however, began to climb upon him. A thousand fingers of clay grasped and clawed their way up his legs, waist, torso, neck. It was quick, for just as suddenly as it began, from head to toe the warrior was clad in thick sand. Round besagews protected the vulnerable juncture between arm and breast. A great skirt of lobstered earthen scales covered him from waist to thigh. And his skin was hidden, only chunks of obsidian could be seen inlayed upon his mask.

The golden radiance from before shone across even this dulled appearance. The light molded to his curves and angles as if it, like the terrestrial armor, was a part of him. SINN's footfalls became heavy, weighed down by rock, but he continued to plod forward at a brisk pace. A spirit of the earth. A mountain on the move. It looked as if he could just shrug off any attack that would strike him.

The knight brought up his left arm, thick as a tree trunk with packed mud, across his torso. The light that danced about his form veered awkwardly, shooting out and around from the many spots it had touched, to collide with his arm. A shimmering field of mirrored radiance cast its brilliance into the eyes of his foes as it formed into a large circular shield. The navi cast a nimbus about him, as if he was a ball of golden fire charging at the line of viruses. The nimbus spread great wings to either side as he plunged into the viral pack, burning a path across the landscape. Leaving a trail of terrible flames in his wake. A wicked barbed tail for the charging phoenix.

Charging into the enemy line, SINNBAD put up his defenses before taking a stride forward towards the viruses. The Champu took a whack at his mantle, which disintegrated at the touch of the virus' fiery fist, and took another whack. The second punch was delivered straight into a Guard battlechip, sending the damage back at it. The other Champu took a few punches as well, but its swings were dodged easily. The Swordy warped up to his sides and took some liberty in sending their blades at him, but somehow he dodged one of them and he took the brunt of the second attack with his rocky exterior. That was the last of his defenses taken down, but SINN was not about to end his battle there; he charged himself aflame with roaring fire, running straight into the viruses with reckless abandon. The Swordy were taken off guard, with both of them deleted. The Champu were knocked away as the flaming knight hurled himself into them, deleting one of them and injuring the other.

Steam poured off the soldier's smoldering armor as he slowed his charge. He slid to a stop, the dirt shifting underneath his heavy tread. His cloak buffeted about his back as he stopped suddenly. His hands reached for his waist. The scabbard had formed again and he gripped the hilt tightly.

Pulling the sword from its sheath, the blade lit up like a torch, catching the light of the sun on its steel. SINN shifted his feet and readied his sword in front of him. The last virus would be a tricky opponent, ready to appear at any point, in any direction. His opponents have always been tricky. This warrior would be ready.

The golden sheen returned to his armor. His armor also seemed to grow larger, heavier of plate. When the virus attacked, and it would, SINN would counter with a broad swipe of his blade. The glow wavered across the air as he slashed out at the apparition of the virus.

He then wheeled around. His head turned from side to side as he searched for any additional threats, or the same threat if he had not managed to delete his foe. He shifted his feet again and raised his blade up high. He waited to see if another virus showed itself. The steel flickered as he brought the sword down upon the next apparition. A forceful blow that would destroy his enemy.

SINN then watched and waited, reading himself for another fight.

Rushing at the enemy isn't very clever when he has a few layers of armor and a shining sword ready to cleave his enemies down, the Champu found out. The fiery fists of the fighter didn't make a dent in SINN's golden armor and the Champu was cut down before it could do anything.
