OMG IDENTITY THEFT !!11!1!

Phishing is becoming a huge problem now a days it happened to me once on Mysapce but all i had to do was change my password and it stopped
Alright, so I clicked on the link myself, I did.

First thing that happens: Big-ass popup warning me that based on their current records, my account may be suspended.

That in itself is odd. My account on Hotmail is a free one. No credit card information was given, but it is required by this form.

Now, seeing this, I did some investigation. After all, I haven't checked my mail in a fortnight, and I could have easily missed such a warning.

No such email. Not even a warning about suspension. Nothing but the usual college spam and unusually perky messages from the staff ("Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's got the sweetest profile of them all?") Oh, and my KoL registration, at long last.

At any rate, Leon, judging by that page's seemingly automatic and universal message, you're wise not to take it at face value. Maybe report it to the main doodz?

And Kyuubi, phishing is attempting to get someone's credit card number through the internet. I think you're referring to people stealing your password; this is something else entirely.
ok ok i understand. But how are people able to pull smething like that off?
Indeed. The pop-up was quite a throw off too. I clicked it simple for shits and giggles, to see if it redirected to an https:// site (so at least I know I'd be dealing with more intelligent phishers, since most people only use http for phishing, silly nubs). However, after the popup, I quickly dismissed any thoughts of it not being entirely bullshit, and didn't even bother to see if it was https or not

Edit: Because the older generation doesn't know jack about the internet or how to tell when they're being scammed. Kinda like how old people get scammed out of thousands by door to door salesmen, just over the net and with a much larger target demographic.
Heh. Password stealing is quite easy. Now, don't worry, I'm not bad evil hacker, but it is well within my capabilities to make a little thing and add it to my signature, that makes the login button up there in the left corner redirected to an "login page" that will steal your password if you try to login.

The only reason you are safe is because nobody wants a random invisionfree account. Be very afraid.
lol funny real funny... I didn't no it was so simple
Meh, If someone wanted to, they could probably get the required knowledge in a "learn "whatever" in 7 days" book or something.

Just gotta pay close attention when learning to do things.
well it's NEVER happened to me, so......ya.....
I don't even think I have a MSN bill thing. I'm, running on Yahoo or something.
check the for ad-ware, there alot of keylogers now a days, i just got my accounts for bots haked and iam a lvl 100
lucky acclaim got it back

Eww, Bots. It looked cool till I read up on it, then I was all nah.

Anyways, I already ran Ad-aware and spybot, which found some tracking cookies (as always) but nothing more really. AVG has yet to find anything either. Probably some smartass randomly stealing my email from somewhere and signing up for free porn or something x_x
