Half-Life 2: Episode... 3?

I'm a bit delayed on this, too, I guess.

I was just reading up on Portal stuffs when I found out that they're making an episode 3. Somehow, I've managed to neglect the HL plotline, and completely forgot.

If Aperture Science and Black Mesa are rivals... and Chell (protagonist of Portal) escaped from A.S. WITH the Portal gun... and several of the Portal graphics, etc, are like the HL2 graphics... IS CHELL GOING TO MEET GORDON FREEMAN!?

That'd be sick. I figured that Gordon would use the portal gun, seeing as it handles and looks so much like the gravity gun for that sort of thing not to happen. What's even BETTER is that there are developer accounts of them 'considering' it-- AKA, they don't want to waste so much good plotline. XD

I don't know about you guys, but I'm excited for more Hl2. I think they should just give up and call it Half-Life 3 though.

Sudden revelation: NEITHER OF THEM SPEAK. XD
few issues here.

for starters... they've been working on ep 3 AND HL3 right before or right after Ep 2 was released.

two, most likly Chell wont be in ep3. One reason possibly, we never really saw her survive, all we got was a little bit of what we assume was her perspective, blacking out in a parkinglot that was aperture science.
Another would be that there is a Portal 2 coming out, which is assumably the continuation of Chell's story.

While I would love to use the portal gun in conjunction with weapons (HL2 maps in Portal anyone?) I dont quite seeing it be used for what ever reason. Though for the love of god, they need to throw in a few new weapons in ep3. I had a few ideas of weapon or two, such as a Hole Gun, basically it can create a black hole to suck stuff in and then a white hole to spit it back out.. buuuuut then that would basically be doing the gravity gun's job.

Also they cant call it Half Life 3, as I stated before, cause they are working on a Half Life 3 already in conjunction with Ep3.
And on a sidenote, the Gravity Gun is more powerful than the Portal Gun's Gravity Manipulation device. Its main thing is making useful and probably deadly portals, not throwing objects through simple force.
I'm not really sure I understand why you put that last comment in, Eon, but I'll take a shot. XD

I meant that the guns look a lot like each other and could easily be confused if you switch back and forth between games a lot.

And, uh, yeah, Chell did survive, actually. You can look it up. XD

If I remember right, the problem Valve has right now is figuring out where to go with Half Life 2: Episode 3 (Liverpool nil). I think they originally didn't plan on Episode 1 and 2, or even Portal itself, but with the series gaining momentous popularity and knowledge, they decided to extend it a bit. When it comes to Chell, though, I vaguely remember hearing someone on the Dev team saying they wouldn't put her in ep3, but I can't remember where that was...
Oh, well, I still find it ironic how wordless both of them are. XD
Chell surviving is speculation, at best. People also speculate that the ending of the game alludes to the fact that she's dead anyway.
I've never played Portal.

I've never played Half Life.

It makes me cry.

But I can say this:

I've heard Still Alive, the song by GLaDOS at the end of Portal. There's one line where she directly references going to Black Mesa for help.

SOUNDS LIKE A CONSPIRACY TO ME.
@EN: But that's followed by her saying it was a joke.

@Sora: That Hole gun is illogical. It has no way to define which way objects will exit once entered.

Plus, Portal 2 has been confirmed, so I have NO IDEA how that will tie in.
.... Did you guys even finish Episode 2?

Blargh, sorry. Don't want to sound vindictive, but there is a high probability that Ep 3 will include the portal gun.

At the end of Ep 2 (spoilers not included), the party are off to a legendary, missing-in-action-for-quite-a-while research vessel.

Owned by Aperture Science.

If we are to, for hypothesis' sakes, accept that the portal gun was developed on this tanker then sent to the science labs for testing, it would make it plausible for Gordon/Alyx to get their hands on it.

Although this is not definitive proof of the portal gun's inclusion, it'd be a pretty sore decision not to introduce it into the Gordon Freeman saga.

Also, GLaDOS is Still Alive because there are several different computers similar to her. So there might be one on the ship.

But, all this is purely speculation. : /

And I doubt Chell will be there. Despite her survival.

Uh. Not sure where you got that. The guns look totally different, like WALL-E and EVE different.

.....Oh hey. Another Mental Trend. *Notes*

To conclude my fanboyism, the Half-Life series (Portal included) is awsome. Unless they break the formulae, it will still be awsome. And if they continue to be awsome, then other games will take from it and be more awsome. Awsome wins!

GyARrr! : D

@EN: But that's followed by her saying it was a joke.

Yes, but she states at some point in the game that she's a liar.

(I'm just pulling on what I'm getting from the friend who has it...)
Grr.

Curse your friend's logic...

But... I still think she was serious right then. I mean, she says it in such a mocking tone, that it wouldn't fit her personality to have her lie about it. Oh well.
Just cause they are going to that ship, doesnt mean that the portal gun will be on that ship, Aperture Science was probably working on more than just the portal gun, so theres most likely more than just that for tech.

From what I've heard, GLaDOS is one evil AI bitch.

ANYWAY.

How hax does your computer have to be to run Episode 1?
The Borealis is what lead Aperture to RESEARCH the Portal gun.

They're tying in-- thank you, Lego. XD
My computer is 5 years old, 2 gigs of ram, and a 6800 geforce

If twi's computer can run it, most computers can too.. as long as they have a graphic card that isnt a generic one. (Use to run gmod on a 5800 geforce on a windows 98 turned 2k machine with 256 megs of ram.)

so its not a matter of if a computer can run it, it is how well and at what settings
I really need to get a hold of all of the other Half Life stuff. I never even finished the first one, and I only know a vague bit of the story.

Like, I know who Gordon Freeman IS, but not much else.
Meh. The first Half Life series is nothing big. You play as Gordon, Barney, Gordon again in some less-than-appetising graphics, shooting up aliens and soldiers and assassins.

Oh, and headcrabs. Can't forget the headcrabs.

Counter Strike began as a spin-off to Half Life. That's kind of how old it is.

Stick to HL2. It's FAR better.
Wouldn't I miss out on important story elements?

Besides, oldschool games are fun.
Lego's right on this one, too.
Just read the Half-Life wiki site's article on Black Mesa Incident and Half-Life.
