A beastly hunt

(From Net City)

Jazz took one of the teleporters from Netcity, flashing his rogue license as he did. Soon enough, the hare would wind himself up in a more dilapidated, unkempt and altogether darker than what he was used to, it took his eyes a moment to adjust to the darkness. His body sweating rather heavily as he slowly began to walk forward. Whew...lot hotter than I thought it would be...bad day for me to change into something heavier and warmer... he murmured as his feet took a quick dip in some nearby sand, the hare quick to shake it off as he got out. Eyes focused, he would make his way into hell itself. Stephine was still asleep...and without her...things would certainly come to a head...

(Battle 1, 200 HP, Swordy-F2 hunt)
The baking heat and scorching terrain were Jazz's only company for a short time, but as he progressed into the hellish edges of the Hades rogues, one anomaly in the distance caught his attention. A rocky rise, surrounded by loose black coal flattened off about twenty feet up, with a crater-like caldera capped in a metal surface that was venting a wavering column of thermal heat into the air. In the centre, the figure of a large fire bird, made entirely of blue flames, presided over some kind of nest; hot sand lined the base, cradling a pair of brown scaled eggs and a third blue glowing object.

As the phoenix caught sight of Jazz approaching, however it gave a piercing cry and beat its wings, lifting up from the nest and moving towards the interloper. Behind it, the two eggs rocked, then cracked; each sprouted four legs, and along, burning tail, and they clambered up to the edge of the nest to watch. Indeed, more chips of the egg shells popped out at the front revealing two pairs of glowing eyes from within each egg's depths.

The commotion seemed to disturb something else part way up the hill as well; a skeletal shape, partially humanoid, lifted up from the coal wielding a bone club – it was enough to realise that there were, indeed, many bones strewn throughout the loose coal of the hill's sides.

Just as it seemed like a fight was about to kick off, Jazz was able ot catch sight of one more detail. Seemingly unnoticed by the other viruses, a Swordy virus, burning sword a the ready, crested the opposite side of the hill. Perhaps it had been sneaking up on the nest? It peered in, momentarily confused by the unexpected mobility of the eggs, then looked out past them towards the confrontation that was about to take place.

LizeggLizegg (Cregg)

The Cregg version is a brown scaly egg with red spots. Most notably, it possesses a long gray tail that extends from a crack in the egg's rear, which is constantly on fire. It moves around by emitting flames from cracks in the scaly shell, trying to hit an enemy. The Lizegg is the same, but grows four gray scaly legs and feet that pop out of the egg and two holes at the front for two shining yellow eyes. It retains the tail from its weaker form, though the flames are a bit more intense. The egg grows slightly. Its scales also become stronger which allows it to pop back in for a defensive action. The Raptegg's hind legs grow more so it can stand on them. Its head, similar to that of a raptor but gray, pops out of the egg too and a long gray scaly tail that moves behind him frantically, which is covered in roaring fire. The egg grows slightly again. Same as the Lizegg, it can also pop everything back in for a defensive action, though it is better than its lower version at this.

Jazz looked up at the hill that confronted him, before the piercing cry snapped his attention even higher, feeling the coals beneath his feet sizzling under him as his floatshoes kicked in, hovering about a centimeter or two off the ground to help negate any penalities that would occour otherwise. The hare could feel the heat rising even higher as he wiped the sweat off his brow, being careful with his new gloves as his eyes turned to the Swordy he was sent to hunt briefly before back to the screaming bird beginning to divebomb him.

Yo, Stephine, I could use some ch- Oh fuck me that's right... He began before the dawning realization came to him. He was solo right now, Stephine was in bed when he left and now...he had no backup. Quickly squatting, the hare would take a moment to analyze the enemies before springing forwards at the hill in front of him. That Skarab's attacks would be scary to deal with, no doubt about that, but with a flyer on the field he couldn't exactly deal with that quite as well considering his lack of chips at the moment. Can sense Hare alone. No chips. No help. Want Help? Power mighty in right hands. That grating voice in the back of his head began to attack his senses. It was Riccio...or the esscence he took personified...Jazz grunted as he could feel his fur beginning to prick with a deep rumble of electricity behind his eyes. He shook his head somberly as he began to produce his defenses, an opaque barrier shimmering around him at the furthermost edge of his being, a casing hardening around his chest, squeezing bone and flesh against metal and material...and a small shield to fend off attacks on his left hand. Help? Yes. But I had a different person in mind for that. He quipped with a chuckle.

But first, he had something to take care of. The hare began to run towards and up the hill in some capacity, his feet barely scraping across the paneling as he did, seemingly straight towards the Skarab, but before he got too high up the hare would twist his body towards the BluePheonix instead of straight at the virus, turning, twisting...and hurtling his body towards the flaming blue bird. Nothing in his hands, but with a flick of his arm a large blue knife slid out from the coat's sleeve and a flick of the wrist, provided his aim was right, would send his dagger towards the bird's neck, be it from the front or the back, it didn't matter as the hare made the attempt to throw his dagger into it with an added buff from himself to, hopefully, one-shot the bird even if he wound up falling into the coals from all of this. All he could do now is wait for his landing before he could make a degree of sense of what to do next.

Finding himself alone, save for unwanted offers of temptation, Jazz darted forward towards the hill and its swooping matriarch. As the Phoenix dived towards him, a sweep of its wings blasted out a blue fore-runner; an image of searing fire in the bird's own shape that blistered down towards the ground. At the last moment, Jazz was able to duck low, letting the broad attack scorch past his head and impact with splash on the coals behind him.

Just ahead, the two eggs weren't content to sit quietly in their nest ether, and the pair clambered up the the nest edge, then tumbled forward towards the hare's on-rushing form. They caught fire, becoming a pair of blazing boulders careening down the hill towards him. Just as the currently less-than-musically-inclined navi skidded to a halt and braced for his leap, the pair of rolling eggs reached him. The first crashed through his barrier, seemingly without effort, but was deflected by his freshly formed shield. The second impacted against his shield as well a moment later, crumpling the defence, but it too was successfully diverted to a standstill without harming Jazz himself.

As the eggs shook themselves off and stumbled a little from their dizziness, Jazz leapt upwards. The phoenix had wheeled after its first attack, and was beginning to turn away to make a second dive run at him, but he managed to get just enough height to land his thrown dagger and catch the virus before it could regain its full height. The knife struck before bursting is a brief deluge of water that caused the phoenix to shriek as its fires were quenched with a violent hiss of steam. Jazz landed neatly as the sodden data fragments tumbled from the sky, inert.

He landed still in the midst of the two burning eggs, just now getting their bearings again, and before he could plan his next move a third figure appeared beside him – the Swordy, unwilling to let the eggs run away, or be stolen by another interloper, warped suddenly into the space, burning sword raised and ready to strike – though it was hard to read whether it was meaning to swing at Jazz, the eggs, or both of them.

From halfway up the hill, one of the piles of bones that had pulled itself up into a defending threat now swayed back and forth as it winged a spinning bone down towards Jazz; the hare managed to lean back in time to let the attack sail past him, but it curved in the air, inscribing a broad arc that suggested it was coming back.

Gritting his teeth as he took the hits from the Lizegg viruses, thanks to those sturdy shells they wore he wasn't exactly in a position to complain when all he had left was a casing wrapped around his body. But he took out the...well, arguably SECOND most important threat of the battle, but now he needed to take care of that Skarab before it could actually hit him. He was literally bent backwards with his face towards the Swordy-F2, two menaces on his ass on either side of him and aformentioned Swordy bearing down on him with a sword about to strike him...or the eggs...it seemed REALLY fixated on those things...he needed a moment to breathe, he could barely catch his breath as is, as he was bared down upon.

Thoughts rolling around his head time and again, seconds turning to moments, practically seeing the Swordy striking as his mind tried to process everything...at least the Coals were fairly safe as long as he had his floatshoes, so going up to the sand nest was a bad idea with that ring of furnaces around. The hare grunting and giving the swordy a frown, before thinking quick. You want these eggs? Then you can have them. He started, before fluidly forcing his torso upwards, momentum beginning to carry him forwards, feet planted firmly before the momentum carried him forwards as he began to move towards the Skarab.

Hope that sword can crack their shells. I'll help you get them if you can keep them off my back for a moment. He continued as he began to bring out a serrated knife from within his coat, nasty close teeth glinting in the heat of Hades, gripping it firmly in his fist as he tumbled forwards in turn, rotating forward like a ball as he continued to move in that moment, unperturbed, even if the swordy couldn't understand him, he had to try...

That Skarab also wants the eggs. I'll take care of him real quick before coming back to help you. He finally finished, as he began to clamor up the hill, a coal or two being kicked up in the process as he ran towards that boney bastard. Knife in hand, the hare would bring his other hand back briefly, making an attempt to fake out the skeleton with a punch near it's head. Knife in hand, the hare would make an uppercutting motion with the weapon in question, attempting to pry it into the middle of the skeleton's fist, with a quick upwards slash to force it to let go and let Jazz take the weapon in turn with the free hand hopefully...and finally, a swift kick to the Skarab's head to really bring his point home.

Surrounded and with a lot of potential danger, Jazz attempted to hedge his bets, darting out of the way as he tried to convince the egg-hunting swordy he wasn't a threat. It was hard to gauge the virus' reaction in the mist of the the rapid combat; its broad sword-stroke already wound up, the virus swept a wide cleaving strike that was certainly aimed at all three targets, and would have clipped Jazz as well, if the hare hadn't made himself scarce. As it was, the blade cut through the air where Jazz had been, struck the first egg, then deflected up from its hard shell and missed the second one.

Whether it bought Jazz's overture or not, the sword virus did, at the very least, seem to let Jazz go while it focused on its main prizes, for now, leaving the out-of-element navi to scramble further up the hill. The eggs, however, proved to have a lot more fight in them than nest eggs generally do, and the pair seemed to take poorly to being assaulted. They both burst into fire again and made short, heavy-shelled ramming attacks at the Swordy, impacting its metal helm with a pair of loud clangs that left the hapless virus reeling, and with a severe dent.

Jazz, meanwhile, climbed the rest of the way to the watching Skarab Virus. It reared back its club hand to hurl another bone in his direction, but Jazz was just a hair faster, or perhaps he was just a faster hare. Either way, he close the distance and make a series of quick motions with his knife. He succeeded in disarming the virus, knocking the bone from its grip for the moment, but didn't quite manage to catch hold of it himself this time. The Skarab didn't seem terribly sturdy, either; the blows that Jazz struck, light as they were, caused it to clatter down into the coals in a tumble of loose bones. It wasn't done yet, or so it seemed, but it would be difficult to really pinpoint the virus to hurt it until it pulled itself together again.

BMD: 25Hp [In the nest behind the eggs]
The virus collapsed under the hare's attack, it was hard to tell if it was that weak...or he was that strong. He wouldn't know for sure, truth be told, but all the same, he turned back around to see what the swordy had done as he held firm a new (flimsy) shield and a new barrier would wrap around himself...and it was certainly looking far, far worse for wear than he had anticipated. The hare would reach into his sweat soaked coat and pulled out a small syringe, clear liquid bobbing about the simple plastic item in his hand, before bringing his arm back before speaking. Hey, Swordy! Catch! He called out before throwing the simple syringe at the virus without heasitation, hoping the swordy would make sure to catch it. Just stab it in ya and let it do it's work, that aughta get some of those dings out. He continued, making a mimicing motion of jabbing it into his neck and pushing the plunger down. Just try taking it easy before your quary kills ya.

This wouldn't stop him from beginning to make his move though, the hare rushing towards the egg that the swordy hadn't managed to slice into, he wanted a chance to breathe, but with the swordy in such disrepair...he couldn't just leave it like that, right? He kinda liked them, all things considered, but if it got killed while having a little inter-battle conflict in the ranks, there wasn't anything he could do. Here, let me show ya how to crack an egg properly. Jazz quipped.

Jazz sprung from the ground and moved forwards as he began to soar as he posed mid-air, shielded arm punched forwards as he fell. One leg outstretched and the other folded under him, the hare dropped himself towards the virus, an invisible force propelling towards the target. His leg bending as he (thought) he made contact with his quary, instincts kicking in as electricity exploded outwards from beneath the rubbery pad on contact, electricity surged on contact with ground or egg, snaps and crackles sounding out as shadows of both hare and virus flickered for a moment as he sprung himself backwards despite the momentum he had, backflipping towards where he had jumped...a sickening cracking noise echoing about field.

Winded from his attack, the hare coughed out multiple times loud as can be and near nearly collapsing in on himself, catching himself with his forearms and knees. It was clear the hare had done something to injure himself, be it from the lack of practice with the move, the impact rattling something loose or just his age catching up with him, the hare had blood stemming from the side of his mouth before wiping it up with his sleeve and staining it. He slowly hobbled to his feet with a ragged breath, hoping that attack at least did something as a piercing red eye stared forward.

The hare slipping his free hand under the inside of his coat again as a trio of ice coated daggers would slip from them, the heat of hades causing them to melt ever so slightly, steam rising up with every drop of moisture that rose up. I'm gonna be honest, Swordy. You're my quarry just the same as these eggs seem to be yours. He puffed out, catching his breath as he began to bring his arm back, letting the water run down his arm, the coat sleeve slowly slipping down. His arm covered in fur, scars and injuries over the years slowly revealing itself ever so briefly before swinging his arm downwards, letting the three daggers fly in a tight spread towards the other egg, there was no way the Swordy had killed it yet...and a secondary kick of healing would rush through the virus should it have taken the healing syringe Jazz tossed it not a moment earlier.

But I'll be honest. You seem like a good virus. You ain't hurt me and I don't wanna hurt you, I just got in the way of your hunt is all. He continued as he reached into his coat again, another trio of ice coated daggers would come out, steam wafting off the melting weapons. Get outta here before someone else decides to take yer life, these eggs ain't worth gettin killed over. I'm in a profession where the good die young. And the best...well... He continued again, a swifter motion than before as he stood his ground, another throw of his daggers, as tight a spread as he possibly could, attempting to finish off the virus if it still stood. You get people like me who get more dangerous with age. Be a good guy, gal, whatever you think yourself as and stay away from bad navis like me.

As he refreshed his defences, Jazz hurled a helpful concoction towards the Swordy virus, hoping to win it over, at least for now. The virus seemed more opportunistic and in an every-being-for-itself mindset, raising its blade to block the thrown phial, but thankful for Jazz's plan it still seemed to have the desired effect as it shattered over the Swordy and sunk in, restoring its condition. Who know how viral code restructuring really worked anyway?

The Swordy paused for a moment, the lights behind its helmed visor blinking as it felt its vigour returning, and what had at first like it was about to flee from under-estimated eggs it now turned into a renewed lunging strike at the pair. Both it and the egg viruses seemed to be drawing extra strength from the heat of the coals beneath them, but they weren't concerned with storing or saving it up for any reason; the Swordy's stab landed with extra force, even reduced by the hard shells of the eggs, but so too was the nearest egg's immediate count blow against the offending swordy, knocking it back heavily again.

The second one wreathed itself in flames as well, preparing to slam the would-be egg-thief, but just before it could a lightning charged hare blistered in from up hill, crashing into the second egg with an explosive, crushing force that blasted it into chunks and left Jazz to springboard off the recoil and land partially back up the hill, presumably in a suitably dramatic pose while he caught his breath.

Behind him, the collapsed scarab virus began to stir. Its scattered bones slowly pulled back together and began to re-knit, though it wasn't whole yet. Below him, the Swordy eyed the shattered remnants of the first egg with something that could only be recognised with a data-hunger, but continued to swing its blade at the remaining egg while it was still locked in battle. The blow was a glancing one but the egg, still fiery and hale, struck back with full force again. Just as Jazz was able to gather himself to move again, he witnessed something... odd.

The egg virus slammed into the Swordy, sending it collapsing back in a moment of defeated ragdoll; if Jazz could see it, he'd know that the impact was enough to precisely deplete the last of the other virus' integrity but, in that exact moment, the lingering effect of his own stimpack surged in the virus too. Its integrity flickered and its body crackled with data fragments, then seemed to re-coalesce as it stumbled in the air and hunched forward, gripping both hands on the hilt if its sword and planting the tip into the ground, head down. A moment alter, its helm lifted up, thrown back as though staring at the sky.

While the Swordy remained unmoving, Jazz made his way back down the hill, taking rapid shots at the egg on the way. It turned from its apparently immobile quarry as the first sizzling blast hit, sending a rising pall of steam from its shell. It hissed in Jazz's direction, but was only met by a volley of other shots, until the sudden temperature difference send pressure cracks all across its form. Not every shot from Jazz was on target, but they didn't need to be; enough connected in the short moments that followed to scramble the distinctly non-benedictine egg for good.

The Swordy didn't seem to be responsive to Jazz's overtures – at least not for the moment. Rather, it seemed transfixed, the glows of its eyes behind the visor wide and staring upwards as it gripped the hilt of its ground-planted sword tightly. Up the hill, the scarab had finished reforming ,though ti still seemed to be groping for a bone it could actually throw. Elsewhere, on the far side of the hill, the homing bone clattered against the coals, but no-one really noticed in the midst of the other dramatic things going on.

BMD: 25Hp [In the nest behind the eggs]
Panting as he watched the Swordy, it had survived...somehow, but he heard the clatter of bones behind him, the Skarab having rebuilt itself after getting punched down by Jazz and, more than that, was making attempts to find something to attack him with. It was clear between Jazz's defenses, it's health level...and the fact Jazz could easily just throw daggers at it and kill it, even without Stephine to feed him battle chips...he had done pretty well on his own, even if the fight had been dragged out needlessly. A thought for future reflection...

You take your time there. You already died there...how you survived, nobody is probably gonna know. But...keep safe out there...and avoid other navis if at all possible. He spoke simply to the swordy, weather or not it still couldn't understand him was in the air, but it wasn't dangerous anymore at least. Jazz would begin to approach the Skarab without a second thought, the navi reaching into his coat again with another trio of ice coated knives betwixt his fingers at the knuckles. The Hare would draw his arm back and swing it forwards, towards the bone virus, knives firmly stuck between his fingers as he did. He gave the virus a grin, not one of malicious intent...but more akin to a friendly one...though there was little feeling to be felt from him.

Y'know, you did real good there, tryin to fight me...but as you can see, the fight is all but over. He began simply as he got near the virus, kneeling down in front of it and staring it in the eyes with his only "working" one. The battle's all but over, except for you. That swordy just had a life-changin experience He continued on, thumbing towards the Swordy behind him, no reason to be subtle now, right? You, my fine boney friend, on the other hand, have done almost nothing...and I got defenses up. You got nothin to fight with thanks to me. Have no allies. And definitely won't be fairing better than those Lizeggs or the Phoenix that attacked. And none of them could even get a proper, clean hit, on me. He continued further, eye slowly moving up behind the Skarab without a hint of malice in his voice as he continued. So...if you honestly think you can fight me mono-E-mono, fine...you'll just wind up dead all the same. But, I'm gonna let ya run, scott free...just because I'm in a good mood today after beatin Riccio unfairly, but nobody need to know about that and you don't need to catch these hands any further than you have already. So, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna open up that Blue Mystery Data behind ya and if I see a bone flying past me or I feel my barrier get impacted by your bone...I'll rip every little piece of bone from your body and scavenge your chip data from you the hard way. Have fun bone boy. He finished, a little mumble here, a very real threat and malice dripping from his voice at the end with a raised eyebrow there, he began to disregard the virus entirely, stepping over the coals slowly and methodically as he would slowly make his way towards the BluePhoenix's nest of sand and furnace, back turned and open for either virus to take advantage of should they feel the need to.

Overview
1: Movement towards the Skarab2
2: Make very real, very realizable threats towards the Skarab2
3: Movement up the hill of coal towards the BMD
4-6: Prepped dodge I guess?
Still groping around for a bone to throw, the Skarab looked up towards Jazz as he approached and made his ultimatum. It hesitated, casting its gaze to Jazz, then to the swordy behind him, to the remnants of the lizard eggs, and then out to the otherwise empty hill. It held still for an extra moment, before the glows in the skull's eye sockets faded out and the entire body of the virus, or at least the bones that comprised it, clattered back to the hillside, inanimate. They seemed now, more or less, just like regular bones; whether it was playing dead inside their structures, or whether the core of the virus had cast off the bones and fled, either way it seemed that the Skarab had reached the same conclusion as Jazz, and had abandoned this fight to the obvious winner.

While Jazz made his way up towards the nest, where the blue data crystal still rested, mercifully intact, the Swordy seemed to relax from its skyward-staring pose, before its body shuddered once, long and deep, as though it were breathing. It looked down at its sword and passed the blade from one hand to the other, then paused again to glance at one of its gauntleted mitts, turning it back and forth and flexing the joints. It passed the sword back to its first hand and twisted it over its wrist, spinning the blade in a nimble motion, before turning to look back up towards Jazz at the top of the hill; the point of the sword drifted downwards, temporarily forgotten. There was something a little off about its movements; where before each action had been distinct, deliberate and precise, now there was a strange fluidity to its motion.

Before Jazz was finished searching the nest area, the remaining virus seemed to reach a decision and approached up the hill after him. It came with its sword held down and out to one side, passive, and stopped a respectful distance from the navi. It didn't seem to have anything that might make for intelligible language to share, but if Jazz looked its way, the Swordy turned its blade over, point to the ground and both hands on the pommel, bowing its helm towards him for an extra second or two. After another moment of respect it raised the blade upright in front of it, in a form of salute, before the warping effect of its area grab enveloped it and whisked it out of sight.

Jazz was left alone on the hilltop after the strange experience, the sole victor of this most unusual scuffle, free to gather the spoils. Strangely, his Bounty tracker seemed to have recorded and confirmed a target delete as well.

BluePhoenixBluePhoenix (FirePhoenix)

FirePhoenixes are medium sized birds, constantly emitting fire from their body. Despite being able to fly, they lack some of the grace other flying viruses, and have only average dodging capability. Higher versions are truer to their name, and are capable of reviving themselves. However, a Wind-type attack will blow away their ashes before they can regenerate, and if they're deleted with an Aqua attack, the ashes don't form.

Area: Hades Isle, Kotobuki Town

HP: 180
Attack Damage/Effect: 50 Fire + Wide Attack
Attack Accuracy: A
Attack Description: Launches a wide wave of fire, shaped like a bird.
Element: Fire
Possible Rewards (Per Virus): PhoenixShot2, Zenny
Special: OmniShoes
Special: Rebirth: When this virus is deleted by a non-Aqua attack, it fades to ashes, then rises from them at the end of the turn at 70 HP. This effect only works once per virus. Does not trigger if the virus was deleted by a Wind-type attack, or if a Wind-type attack is used on the ashes prior to revival.
Special: Can use FireAura1 once.

Open BMD?
The hare would give the Swordy a smile and a soldier's salute himself before the virus left, the two of them survived and the swordy...probably an entirely new perspective on life at large...though something told Jazz he would see him again one day...

The hare would begin to scoop up his rewards automatically, the Flamescales data into the PET for later collection by Stephine. Though now he was alone, the prospect of a mimic reared it's ugly head, always that chance he could get a giant cracked up mystery demon to attack him...and he was chipless as far as he knew. Though it wouldn't be long before he heard a click in his PET...a subchip being used. You know. You really need to stop being so stupid, Jazz. That Swordy could have turned you into a shishkabob. The voice came, familiar...Stephine definitely. Guess killing a cyber-god gets you in a good mood, good to know. She teased. Jazz sighed and shook his head as he swiftly grabbed the BMD up, twirled it around on the tip of a finger and quickly began to open it. Sez the girl who's grandpappy took down my original self fourty-some years back. Dat's some pedigree.

(Open BMD with Untrap, Millions activates)
With timely assistance from a safety concerned operator, the literal nest egg before Jazz unfolded itself to deliver a much more useful figurative nest egg instead as it collapsed into a sizeable bounty of raw zenny.

BMD: 10500z
Sighing contently, Jazz would gather up the remnant data from the BMD, a nice upgrade to his account but now he needed to get going...at least has battle chip support for now.

(Battle 2, Swordy-F2 bounty)
Moving on, Jazz had a short amount of time to pick his way throug the Hades network, until he came upon another peculiar sight. Nestled in between a ring of surrounding craggy hills, an area of the terrain became smooth and flat. In the centre of it, with space cleared all around, there was a large, black iron object of some sort, seemingly with viruses climbing on it. As Jazz drew closer, he could begin to make out features. The object was about the size of a large vehicle, but it was in the shape of an old-school wood-fired stove, with two hot plates on the flat top, over a closed oven in the body of it, and a side section for putting in the fuel and burning it.

A massive pile of coal was stacked up near the open coal hatch on the comically oversized novelty stove, and at the top of it, a Swordy was shovelling coal into the opening. This one seemed to have traded its sword for a broad headed coal shovel instead, but by all accounts it still matched Jazz's bounty target. Inside the coal hatch, there were signs of another virus, nestled in the orange glow of the fire, while a pair of Vulgear seemed to be seething contentedly on the hot plates, up above. Between them, a Chumpy virus was looking back and forth; it seemed to have exchanged its boxing gloves for oven mitts, but it as probably not any less dangerous for this.

A hiss of steam from one of the Vulgears made the other viruses look around in Jazz's direction. The Swordy lifted its shovel, seemingly particularly enraged by this interruption, and pointed its weapon of choice in Jazz's direction.

Huh...that's quite the sight... Jazz murmered under his breath as he came across the curious sight, viruses and a massive, bus sized stove, right in front of him. Good thing he had his floatshoes on, but the site was not exactly welcomed by his presence, the quintet of viruses immediately turning to him as he waltzed up. A shame for them, but he was feeling JUST a bit guilty of ruining their little thing here, nothing to it he supposed, a shrug of his shoulders and a sigh as he slipped into his combat stance, slouching slowly towards the ground and letting his muscles get loose.

Got a chip in that last fight, think it's in the PET, mind slotting it, the Mudstage and Treebomb in? Jazz asked simply as he began to move towards the viruses, the hare giving a carefree smile as he did. Hey now, I was just passin through...but it seems like you don't have any intent on letting me go regardless huh? He asked simply, knowing the answer. The hare deactivating his floatshoes and letting his tootsies feel the heat from the paneling he was on, even through those membranes. You don't mind me getting comfortable, right? He asked, standing straight with his hands up and palms outwards in a mock surrender, as he tripped the data in the Flamescales he had gotten earlier and materialized a heavy looking silver plate of mail across his body, even over the already swealtering longcoat he wore. And to add to the heat, the entire thing burst into flames a second later, covering his entire upper body in a rigid, heavy and very protective layer of, well, protection.

Whew...talk about turning the heat up. Now, guys, lets be reasonable...we don't need the furnaces of hell that hot now, do we? He grinned as he tripped the second chip he asked for, mud beginning to pour from all manner of places. Hands, arms, legs, the sticky and wet dirt beginning to move outwards from him like a giant puddle...before the hare took a stance like a ballarina and began to move gracefully, if a bit sluggishly, twirling around with his lifted foot against his spinning leg and arms going straight up into a loose triangle, even as the mud flowed slugishly through the holes in his coat and all over the heated platemail he wore. Slowly but surely the hare's movements picked up speed as he twirled about as ridiculous as he looked, mud spread across the field and under the feet and what have you of both the viruses and underneath their massive stove, before finishing with a backflip into the air and an axe kick into the ground, a massive torrent of mud flooding the area to and fro, here there and everywhere, with a tsunami to cover virus, stove and everywhere else that hadn't been gotten yet.

Coming to a stop (and very slightly dizzy from the dance), the hare took a second to shake the extra mud out, letting out a sigh as he almost sank those feet of his into the mud, and while warm, was just what the doctor ordered after that last fight. Alright guys, time to show ya how navis do buisness. He spoke, a sinister undertone to his words as he produced a rather large seed, almost the size of his hand and gripped it tightly before taking aim at what he wanted to do with it...and with a quick calculation, Jazz flicked his wrist and sent the seed flying from where he stood, hopefully in front of the Vulcaner. And if it went to plan, the seed would dry out the patch of mud it splattered into, quickly exploding outwards in massive spiked pillars of wood marching across the mud with little issue in a random direction...and utterly obliterate whatever might be in front of it, sucking away the water from the mud with every slow tower of wood that marched across the field.

Stephine watched intently as the hare began his assult, she noticed the new clothing,...and the bandana plus eyepatch...well...she needed to keep an eye on him regardless of her feelings...she couldn't help but get this little niggling sensation in the back of her head...

Interesting choice of clothing, Jazz. What are you hiding? She bluntly asked as he began his next assult shortly after the seed's work had been done (or yet to be done) Nothing worth worrying about... He responded back as his expression began to deteriorate, the Hare's face expressionless in the face of the obvious prodding, but he had a fight on his hand regardless, beginning to rush at the front of the Swordy carrying a shovel, arms outstretched as he neared the virus. A blade dropping from his sleeve cleanly into his hand, Jazz took hold tightly of the watery blade's hilt, feinting towards the virus' blindspot and in a swift motion attempted to shove the blade deep into it's back while in the same movement, used his free hand to grasp at something solid and, using it's body as leverage regardless of shanking it between his momentum and the mud beneath his feet, and moving forward around the back of it towards his next target.

Don't bullshit me, rabbit. What the hell happened with you and Riccio? I saw the circuits on your eye, the damn things were glowing while you were asleep! Stephine shouted out, the hare looking skywards as he began to think of what to say, but he did not answer. After the battle. Widesword. He said, ever so simply as he brought himself low for a moment, Jazz calculating his jump before jumping as high as he could into the air, thrusting himself forward (hopefully) onto the mud covered stove in front of him and, hopefully, in front of the Vulgears that adorned the stove. A click could be heard from the PET with a frustrated growl from the girl holding his PET. Thrusting his arm out to the side, a hardened blade of pure energy would extend from his knuckles, a widened semi-circle tip would come forwards and, without a word, the hare pushed himself forwards and in a swift motion let his arm slide through the air like butter, and hopefully, through the Vulgears in front of him. Though it would take more than one strike, this would come soon as he wore a stoic expression, circuits on his eye glowing softly beneath the eyepatch.

Already seemingly irritated at being interrupted, the Shovel-wielding Swordy took the time to throw one last scoop of coal into the hatch (presumably all over the Volcaner...) before turning to focus on Jazz while the Hare decked himself out in scorching scale protection.

From inside the stove-like situation, an eruption of fire and magma shot upwards from a vent about the furnace as the volcaner launched a arcing meteor in Jazz's direction, boosted and emboldened by its position... but no matter how strong the blast of burning rock was, it still scattered off Jazz's fresh protections in a shower of molten rock that only lightly scuffed the scales.

Jazz took this as a sign to redecorate. With the sudden wash of mud covering everything, steam began to hiss and rise from the over-sized stove and it buckled in places as the metal of its construction warped, cracked and corroded. None of the viruses seemed pleased by this development. The chumpy, on top of the now muddy mess warped quickly across to Jazz with the intention of giving the hare a solid what for with both fists; even so, only one blow connected and, like before, it only succeeded in scraping the scales of his armour.

Jazz had other things to focus on anyway, and lobbed his next dangerous payload with a precise arc, to land the seed directly into the previously burning furnace hatch of the stove, right in front of the now muddy and squelching volcaner. Things were still for a moment; it was hard to see anything inside the hatch... then the entire over-sized stove began to rumble and shake. With a sudden burst of tearing metal and rapidly growing wood, plant life began to sprout and erupt from every seam in the large object, pushing through the mud. In particular, two massive wooden towers burst up through the hot plates, skewering both of the steaming Vulgears before either of them could really get worked up. It seemed the volcaner itself had, somehow, avoided the worst of the rapidly growing assault, and the chumpy had pulled itself out of the way just in time as well, but the entire stove buckled inwards and seemed to collapse further, settling into a corroded mound of mud and soil as the attack faded away.

From the wreckage, the volcaner managed to pull itself out of the much and sputtered briefly, before launching a burning blast towards Jazz, trying to leave some kind of mark, but the hare was already moving and the shot didn't connect as he darted forward – slower than usual, but still quick enough this time.

Perhaps his offence was a little slower as well, or perhaps the swordy was just ready for him by now, but when Jazz moved up and attempted to make his quick manoeuvre around the swordy, his darting blade was met with the metallic clang of the shovel haft parrying his strike, turning it aside at the last moment despite his best effort at getting on the virus's blind side.

The chumpy took the opportunity to try its own luck again, warping close to take two more swipes at Jazz; as before, however, one missed and the other, though it landed, only managed to deal a pittance of damage to his resilient armour. When it warped back to the top of the mound, Jazz leapt after it. The swordy, just winding up to take a swing at Jazz in return was forced to do the same, warping to appear beside the chumpy with its blade lowered and drawn back, ready to lunge... however, its move was poorly timed. Jazz made a sweep with his own blade, getting two deep cuts for the price of one thanks to the swordy's timely pursuit.

Jazz's offenses were able to fend off some of the damage he potentially could have taken, the heavy plating on his body having managed to protect him and still seemingly having plenty to protect, Jazz was ready to go for this fight, he just needed a couple more hits is all.

Much better. Much, much more comfortable. Even with this armor on, I'm doin fine. Shame about yer setup. But...shouldn't have decided to threaten me like ya did. He began, the hare adjusting his armor, the inner straps being loosened up as he talked, even if it's heft kept him from being able to move like he wanted. But it wasn't much, as his voice lowered, eyes narrowing as he adjusted his wrist mounted sword. No use cryin over wet coals...right? You won't live to regret your decision anyways. He continued, voice continuing to lower in octives as he lunged forwards at the two viruses in his mania.

He couldn't help but feel...something...joy? Excitement? Whatever it was, Jazz's face took on one of contempt for the two in front of him, even though they were just...doing their job. Feelings clashing internally as he scrambled on the mud beneath his feet, his movements slowed, but, he calculated them as much as he possibly could in turn. The circuts beneath his patch glowing dimly, but warmly, as he took his first swipe at the duo in front of him. A single slash across, attempting to cut cleanly through the center of each with the cybersword atop his hand, even as it's power began to wane.

Then a sharp pulse within. Eye atop his head beginning to hurt. Sharp pains across his entire head as he felt cold, not like pins and needles, but something deeper and more...ancient. Something compelling him forward as he began to fient around their sides with the momentum instilled from his first slash, kicking mud up as he hastily took a chance to try and throw the whole of his fist through the champu...and send the blade right into the Swordy's faceplate like an animal with a low base filled growl of anger. Teeth clenched through the pain he felt as the blade broke midair.

Jazz, your vitals are going haywire. You need to get back here now! I need to-I'm continuing! Give me the GigasArm! The two shouted at each other, Jazz looking up at the sky indignantly as he growled lowly in turn, the markings on his eye glowing brighter in turn with the pain he felt. But this didn't stop him from moving regardless, his heart beating heavy and fast between the two forces in his head, one trying to take over, the other fighting back. Even as he moved his way down to where the Volcaner was at, he could feel his psyche being pulled back and forth between three extremes.

Of course, even as the chip was downloaded to him, he could hear Stephine in the back of his head while growls and swears from the beast and himself continued on unabated. He needed to end this before things got too far out of hand as he tried to corner the Volcaner before it could get too far away, a short distance away from it as he threw his arm out to the side, the hare's fist quickly coating itself with a black steel as he did. The heft of the weapon around his fist as he made sure to not miss his strike, he didn't want this fight going on for longer than it needed to. Ain't nothin personal. It's just buisness. He spoke softly, as he rushed towards the volcanic virus, adjusting his path if it had made an attempt to move and evade his weapon...and threw a massive haymaker towards the side of the virus' body, an attempt to chunk it in one massive hit and end the conflict before it could continue...searing electrical discharge and freezing cold both clashing within.

Fighting atop the mostly ruined remains of the giant stove in a muddy king-of-the-hill style brawl, the shovel-wielding swordy was already had its weapon of choice drawn back, and managed to take the next lunging stab at Jazz. The blade tried to pierce his scale armour, but ultimately deflected, scoring the defence but doing no harm to the hare beneath. Jazz was quick to counter with his own blade, cutting through the over-extended virus before it could recover. The sweep of his blade wold have stuck the nearby Champy as well, bu just before the blade passed through it, the virus warped slightly, some part of its natural fighting instinct insisting that it do so before striking even though Jazz was already well within range. It landed one of its two punches again – the virus just couldn't seem to connect with its leading right, for some reason – before Jazz's second sword stroke caught it on the backsweep and ended its chances at any future title matches.

The remaining virus, still searching in futility for some hot coals, rumbled and launched another chunk of magma in Jazz's direction, but as before the shot only splattered off his scales and had little impact. It seemed suddenly nervous as the navi turned his focus on it, the only remaining virus, and shuffled backwards slightly, sinking a little into the mud as though it wanted to hide.

Even so, Jazz was clearly not feeling entirely himself as he made his way to the Volcano, his mental state dubious and at war with itself. The virus tried another shot as he bore down on it, fist aimed and ready – this time it seemed to be trying to blast him with fire that might linger and burn further, but alas, the hare's sturdy protection also blocked any chance of him getting an on-going scald, too.

Perhaps the virus was particularly eager to avoid the strike, or perhaps hit was the conflicting elements in Jazz's own mind warring for control of his violence; too many hands on the wheel at once, even if most of them agreed on crushing the virus in front of them. Trying to focus and aim just seemed to make the job of doing so harder the longer he took, and when his massive blow slammed in it crushed the remaining elements of structure, sending everything collapsing into a mess of mud and debris... but the now terrified Volcaner remained in the aftermath, what passed for its features showing an expression that clearly said it was done with this madness. It shuffled away a little more, beginning an attempt to burrow out of sight and flee the scene... though it hadn't gotten away just yet...

Jazz's vision blurred as the pain and voices dragged his mind three seperate ways, his form faltered as he tried to eliminate the virus in no uncertain way. But even as his mind slowly recoiled, he watched the virus trying to escape...he could simply murder it here, the bugfrags would be nice...but something still ate away at him, even with the cybeast inside him watching...one of his other parts...and Stephine...

G-Go...I-I don't...know how much longer...I can hold back. He choked out to the Volcaner as he swayed and stumbled, bringing a hand to his face as his knee hit the mud with a splatter, his body visibly glitching out, greyscale colors...metallic reds, bloody hues...white fur caked in residue and residual data. N-Now. Run...away. He choked out again as he turned from the Volcaner, slowly getting to his feet and stumbling away from the wreckage.

Overview
1-6 Let Volcaner run away
The remaining virus didn't need to be told twice, and it took full advantage of Jazz's momentary difficulties, burrowing into the mud and then down into the baked Hades rock beneath, to escape. This left Jazz himself alone in the muddy wreckage, victorious and surrounded by a decent amount of junked data that could be converted into usable currency. When he or Steph got around to checking, it seemed as though the Chumpu's boxing kit had remained intact enough to be taken up as chip data too – hopefully Jazz would have better luck with the one-two rhythm than the virus had experienced.
