Lower Element Containment Mysteries [Network Advancement Mission for Jazz]

As she rubbed along his arm, she could feel small bumps, groves and telltale gashes along his skin, ever more scars from past and present, even some fresh looking ones likely from the WORM encounter earlier. He was inhaling deeply, trying hard to keep himself calm throughout the story, it was clear he was trying to remain calm as his memories dredged themselves up. Thanks. He said simply, sincerely, as he felt her shudder from the dredge of her drink, hand gently clasping hers and giving an ever gentle squeeze. I...just wanted to make sure I had all my cards on the table, Prose. That's really a lot of the reason. Specially i- when we keep seeing each other after this, to hell with your bosses. You can't be on the clock all the time, and when you're not, my PET and Stephine's Homepage will be open for when you need to kick back and relax. Jazz spoke, simply again, but...with a renewed hope? Something else sparking him onwards at the very least. I...I know what ya meant, don't worry, Prose. I just...just wanted to tell you. I trust ya, I really do. And I wanted Stephine to know too, though I guess she does now. He said with a chuckle, rubbing the back of his head. god It's been so long since I talked about this sorta thing. He added under his breath with a light chuckle.

Turning his head to where things were happening, the meteor shower began, the stars falling just outside of their touch as everyone watched on. Even in his calmed state, he saw flashes of something in the back of his head...him falling, falling, falling deep into the abyss. Shaking his head, the image out of his mind, he felt her gently nudge him, his eyes immediately moving down to her and then the shot glass. The rabbit looking down the warm looking liquids swirling about. Nodding at her, the rabbit took the glass to his lips and slowly let the contents slide down into his mouth and down his throat, savoring the taste...the feeling of it...his chest welling up with warmness...hope...everything positive he could feel, began to well up inside him. Thanks, Prose, I really appreciated that pick-me-up. He said finally, letting the feelings slowly settle inside himself, a contented sigh escaping his lips. Then, I guess the sooner we get this mission done, the sooner we can enjoy some more downtime. So, please, if you would Prose, I'm all ears about what all you need me to help ya with. Come hell or high water, we gotta do what we gotta do.
Prose was quiet for a few more moments as they both savoured the last of their respective drinks; as much as she didn't immediately respond, her eyes dropped to the table as he spoke, and it was easy to note the small woman's body language drawing in slightly as Jazz talked about putting all his cards on the table. For a brief second, she seemed almost guilty, before returning to a warm smile and her usual playful demeanour; she slid her own glass back and forth between her fingers a few times and glanced up at Jazz again only once he moved on to ask about the job. With a nod, she stood and stretched.

“It's okay, really. It means a lot to me that you told me, and I promise I'm not scared, or put off, okay? You can be whoever you want to be – that's what's great about the net, right? Sure I can't tempt you with a spa date and a movie after? No?” She raised an eyebrow at him, folding her hands behind her head as bounced on her toes. Still smirking, she let out a dramatic sigh and feigned wiping sweat from her brow. “Alas, to the grinding stone again we go... Okay, so, here's the deal...” Her eyes flicked to one side, and a faint crackle hummed in the air. The ambient sounds of music faded away and the noise of the other patrons muted down to the faintest of background murmurs. A soft silence filled the space directly around their table; even Stephine would need to turn her PET's volume right up just to keep following the conversation – though she could do so easily enough.

“So... I'm not just a delivery bunny. Big surprise, right?” Here she smirked and wrinkled her nose at Jazz. “Though I bet you'd like to see me in my costumes for all the seasons, huh?” She stretched on her toes to give Jazz a quick peck on the cheek, then settled again, this time hopping up to sit on the table, with her feet swinging, just beside him. She continued after a moment.

“I do a lot of work, all over the net, I don't exactly work 'for' a group of people, so much as 'with' them. A group of folks with their roots in a long, long legacy back to a different group that probably even had a name once upon a time... A group of folks who want to keep the net in balance. No necessarily 'safe', and not necessarily 'good', but in balance. The holiday work you saw me doing – that's the nice stuff. That's me, trying to say thank you, to all the net navigators out there who are fighting and risking themselves to keep other people safe, because each individual might be small, but it all matters.” She paused and tilted her head, making sure to catch Jazz's eye more clearly. “Really, it does. I don't feel like I do even close to enough to say thank you.” She looked back to the meteor shower and continued after another second or two.

“But then there's other stuff too. Just as important, but a lot of folks wouldn't like it. Virus families go back as old as the net itself, some made by people, some spontaneously mutating... but at the end of the day, still data and code. As much as they sometime seem like a whole living eco-system of viruses on a network they're suited to... most of them aren't. Not really. Most of them, they're generic, no real life or anything unique about them. They replicate in very fixed, specific ways, and they go about their purpose... and they need to. So, when the balance population of various strains of viruses suddenly gets far too high, or far too low, it's usually because something has gone wrong. And it needs to be fixed. Most navigators don't even know that the germinators and forges and such exist at all, and it's better that way... I'm getting off track...” she closed her eyes and shook her head briefly, then sighed and lay back, stretching out on the table top with her knees over one side.

“Point is... Lots of things are far more organised than they seem on the outside. Sometimes, it's part of my job to help keep it that way... and that's what I've got to do today. I need to check on someone, and take some readings, and work out if something is wrong. It's a controlled facility, but it's left unstaffed except when a team is there to run checks. Normally it would be a team... trained programs with specific directives... but like I said, I'm not meant to spend extended time around net navigators, so whenever I need to check something I do it alone. On the bright side, it means there won't be anyone else there to question me bringing a friend along.”
As she said this, Prose shifted, stretching occasionally, almost languid, like she was bored; each small shift caused a brief hike in her skirt, however, and after the third time her occasional quick glances towards Jazz made it clear that she knew full well what she was doing. Feigning obliviousness, she continued the breifing.

“The place is in the rogues, and when it's dormant, it's got a sort of perceptive sterility to it – viruses are generally just kept away without really being aware that they are – it's made to seem boring to them, kind of. Once we're there, though, I'll have to turn everything on, so it may get a little bit dangerous – that's why it's normally a full team. It only really takes one or two navis to keep the place fully secure, but someone might need to descend to the actual holding zones, which are in lower nets again, so they need enough people there to cover all eventualities.” She paused again, scratching at one ankle which she had conveniently pulled up onto the table, one knee bent upwards and pushing her skirt all the way up with it, while shielding the view from other patrons, all except Jazz.

“It'll be easy enough. I'll take you down, show you the place, we'll check the house guests, I'll take some readings and you'll watch for stray virus incursions while I sort it out. I'll never be more than a shout away if you need help. Easy enough, right?” She moved her raised foot across to nudge Jazz in the arm with one dainty toe, before making sure she had caught his eye, just in case he was looking at something else; if she managed to catch him peeking, it was followed by a smirk and a giggle. “Got all that, handsome?”
Hehehe. Whatever ya want afterwards, sweetie. I think we could use more RnR after everything's said and done. My treat. Jazz chuckled at Prose, with a grin plastered on his face, hand over hand as he interlaced his fingers, elbows on the table. Oh what the fuck Jazz...bah, whatever. Fine, but you're going on another run later, got it. Stephine popped up. Like I wasn't. Just no more giant malworms. He rebutted, waving his hand. No promises, but will try. She replied almost immediately. A good little ribbing between op and navi, buisness as usual, right? But as Prose began, Jazz leaned in a bit with a cock of his eyebrow. Meanwhile, Stephine grumbled under her breath, raising up the sound on her PET and the computer she was working at, she had no choice, but at least she didn't need to hike the PC's speakers up too much...

Ah figured as much, otherwise, why'd you be the one doin my net assessment? He spoke, raising his brow a little higher, chin on his hands before getting pecked on the cheek. Well, I mean...of course~ But we can save that for later, now can we. He spoke again, booping her nose gently with a playful chuckle before letting her begin her explanation and what she was doing. His hands together, fingers forming a "bridge" to keep his head atop them, he listened. Not often there were neutral forces, do good, do bad, keep the net in balance...on it's toes. As she turned back to the meteor shower, he let her continue to explain what she did...how the net was kept on balance, before memories to Yoka where they met welled up as she explained about viruses, their "purposes" and, of course, if a strain of viruses gets too high...kinda like what the Wrangler's been doing as of late. Alright, alright, I think I'm putting the pieces together somewhat. These people, and by extension you, are tryin to keep the net from gettin too cozy or too dangerous when there's no outside forces going at it, kinda like way back when, or I suppose more recently, the big ol Net War we had which discovered the networks beneath the Normals. He finally spoke, getting the pieces together in his head after a moment, hands slowly moving about in sweeping motions as if to simulate what had happened recently. And that's the reason behind the Puffy.BUS when we met in Yoka. Keep virus populations from growing too big, or we have issues like what the Wrangler's doin with the whole Bounty system and networks keep gettin fucked up. Too low, people can't document, fight, and by extension, get chip data from those viruses to use in every day life. Yea I can see this is a bigger thing than I was expecting, but then again, sounds like there's a lotta things underneath it all and I'mma gonna ask you more later, but sounds like you can't exactly divulge a ton. He continued while she was stretching out atop the table, the navi letting out a sigh and giving a nod.

Then came the actual briefing, something in the rogues needed to be maintained, fixed, and summarily, Prose needed an extra hand keeping any rogue-tier viruses off her back while she was doing the checkups on someone and the facility itself. He nodded along, eyes drifting as she was showing off a bit more skin, eliciting a playful grin from the larger rabbit in front of her before getting a gentle poke in the arm. Yea, I think I got the whole of it. Keep any viruses off your back if they DO attack, and knowing my luck they will, and help with anything if ya need it. Kinda wanna get in on the inner workings of the net, help where I can, help YOU specifically, but we can hash that kinda thing out later if you think you can put a good word in on an ex-monster. Honestly, sounds like you guys are doing a lot more good for the net than the Net Police are, at least under the surface. Then again, sometimes not getting recognized for your successes or failures isn't the worst thing, keeps you and your loved ones safe if nothing else... Jazz finished, leaning forward to give her lips a gentle peck and her rear a sneaky little pinch while he thought there were no eyes on the two of them.
Jazz was rewarded with a small squeak, and a giggle accompanied by his companion only half-heartedly wriggling away from his pinch, though she did sit up again properly, crossing her legs on the table now; small as she was she was still fairly close to eye level with Jazz, and didn't seem to care that sitting on tables wasn't exactly good cafe etiquette. It didn't help her decency too much, given the shortness of her skirt – it really was much shorter than the one she'd been wearing at their first meeting, and her behaviour made it hard to imagine it as anything other than a deliberate choice.

“Okay, if you're ready, let's do this. Oh... Um...” She glanced up, looking past Jazz to address Stephine, even though there was no visible view screen at the moment. “The signal may get a bit fuzzy at times, if you're not used to operating lower down, and there might be one or two points where we lose you, just for a few moments, depending on what systems I need to use at the facility. Just a heads up, so you know. I'll try to warn you if it's something I know about.” Her attention flicked back to Jazz directly. “You ready?” With Jazz's approval, she scooted off the table and stood straight, coaxing him to do the same, then opened her arms and held them to to the sides slightly.

“Hold onto something...” Her grin flashed cutely pointed white teeth and she winked at him. Once Jazz grabbed on, the noise suppression around them ended and the sounds of the cafe and the other patrons came back to full volume, but it lasted only a moment as a tingle of energy flowed across from the smaller woman to Jazz. Behind her back, he caught sight of a faint red glow, before his senses scattered to a brief white out and her felt pressure all around; no transit beam or handy gateway, but rather a sense of pushing bodily through something solid and resistant, before the sensation ended with a sudden release.

His senses came back almost at once; the air was cold and a little bit musty, and there was a scent like machine oil, ozone and steel. Looking around, he'd find that they'd arrived in a place that looked similar, but strikingly different at the same time. There was still an observation platform, but gone were the cute tables and cafe counter. The stars beyond were clearer in the pervasive gloom that shrouded the site, and Jazz could now see the hints of astral formations tracing reds and purples through the gaps between them. The satellite they were on seemed older and more worn – no less maintained, but weathered and lacking the same presentation and polish that it had a moment ago. Rather than signs pointing towards food, drink and relaxation options, Jazz could see a selection of far more serious and uniform indicators. Outside on the platform, the individual telescopes had work stations alongside them, though they all looked packed up and unused. Inside, through the sealed glass doors, the area that had held the reception desk now bore a sign that had been obviously blanked out. The stairs leading upwards had a simple arrow with the word 'Control' on them, while the sign on the stairs down bore 'Containment Level 1, Transits to levels 2-5'.

The planet below, which the satellite was orbiting looked different here as well; it now resembled a damaged shell of what Jazz had seen before – rocky holes bored through it in many directions, with scatterings of space debris forming floating asteroid fields around where parts of it had been shattered out. Overall, the was definitely something familiar to the feeling in the air here – the vague shrouding of everything bright, and the sense of time and neglect; What memories Jazz had of previous times in the rogues would likely come to mind to confirm to him that they had indeed descended to the lower network. Prose was still standing next to him as his senses cleared. The faint glow at her back faded away again and when she turned to look about, the only sign of anything of that colour was the simple red wing pattern picked out in thread on the back of her chest band, along with the small red fluffy charm that she wore on a black strand, woven into her fur at the nap of her neck. She glanced back to Jazz after turning about for a few seconds.

“You good?” There was a hint of caution as she looked at him, just to make sure the older hare was dealing with this much alright. “Let's get this place turned on then... things will probably start showing up to investigate once it's all activated, so be ready.” She rubbed at the back of her neck, a brief look of apology crossing her features.

“I shouldn't really get involved in too much of the fighting, if any occurs. It's not a great idea... but if you need help, I'll be here, and I will, so, don't worry, okay?” With that slightly odd reassurance, Prose started making her way towards the central core of the satellite, and opened the sealed glass doors to the inside with a tug; they hissed and there was a brief rush of air billowing outward; it smelled slightly less musty than the air outside, but only slightly. Nodding for Jazz to follow, she made her way inside, then hopped up to lean over the central counter, the stretch left her toes more than afoot off the ground ans she reached around behind the desk for something on the other side. Jazz had another handful of seconds to appreciate a wardrobe that wasn't (or maybe was) intended for bending over at the hip; as she searched for whatever she was looking for behind the desk, her tail flicked up a couple of times, seemingly on its own, and sabotaging the skirt further.

After a few seconds of this, however, a rumbled reverberated through the floor, followed but a deep vibration and a low whirring sound that rose to a n ever-increasing whine. Heavy metallic shuttering echoed across the space coming from different directions and a blast of suddenly fresh air accompanied by the glow of low power lighting heralded the facility, if that's where they were, coming back to life. Prose rolled over on the desk and pulled herself up to sit on the edge of it, facing Jazz, rather than dropping back down.

“Right. I've sent the relay signals so everything will start getting powered back up now. This is just running power, so you know. All the systems this place needs to look after the house guests are all hard-celled on different controls... this whole corner of the net could go dark and they'd still keep going, mostly.... but, you know... navigators have certain needs, which in most cases includes a tangible traversal space between nodes, and that takes power to generate... Still, lights are coming on, so, we have to get to work... where do you want to go first? We can head up to control to make sure all the baselines are normal, and I can do a quick visual check there as well – might give me a bit of prior warning if whatever is amiss is easy to see... or we can just head straight down and start doing the readings right now, and work through everything I've got to check, and we'll just find out what's throwing things off here as we go. Up to you!” The serious, clinical nature of the task and how it sounded was strangely juxtaposed against the way Prose leaned back on her hands, letting her feet swing off the edge of the desk in a relaxed way.
Jazz was definitely not -trying- to keep peeking under her skirt and all that entailed, but all things considering with her flirting so blatantly with him...it was definitely hard to ignore the raging lust in his heart as she was certainly NOT dressed for just a simple mission briefing. But all things considering, it was easy on his eyes with his honeybun teasing him, put him in a better headspace than before at the very least. But as Prose glanced up, looking past Jazz for a moment to brief Stephine on what was about to happen. Gotcha! She affirmed almost immediately, she had enough chips with multiple uses that Jazz could make use of regardless, plus...it was Naxa, so he had an inherent advantage going on regardless here. Turning her head to the PC screen, keys typing on the screen as she began to look up "A Dummy's Guide to Rogue Net Navigating" in a nearby search bar. As good an idea as any considering people have begun operating in the Rogue Networks as of late.
Jazz, immediately grabbing onto either side of Prose, giving a very gentle squeeze on top of it, his eyes immediately going towards the back of her...a red light? That was certainly curious if nothing else...then again he did remember the wings she wore back in Yoka...then he whited out ever so briefly...and the feeling he was passing through something, most likely the floor beneath them. Then again, it wasn't so farfetched...considering the networks beneath the normals were more or less "paved" over by the world as a whole, it made sense at the very least where they were going was quite literally beneath their feet as a whole. His head clearing just a moment later, the dim, musty area they were in felt much, MUCH more like where he was expecting to see Prose in, having let go of her after their phasing through the area.

Huh...this is the Rogues eh...definitely feels like it doesn't get any traffic. Jazz finally said a moment later, head turned to look over at the area, specially out the window, gawking at the nebulas and stars that shone outside. Much clearer than in the cafe, plus...the forboding nature of the Rogues helped put him a little on edge like you should be in space, even as his heart pounded at this point. Yea, I'm good, don't worry. Just admiring the view outside... He'd respond a moment later, blinking out the ideas in the back of his head. Yea, don't worry about me Prose. I aughta be fine after a moment...and don't worry, I don't think I'll need to call on ya for nothin. I got a new kit, I got some good chips...I think I'm ready, even if I feel a little underleveled for this sorta thing. Get things goin and I'll keep out tha riffraff. He spoke, following Prose towards the glass and followed her inside, watching her practically lean over the central counter, a perverted grin over his face as she bent over, skirt hiked up practically as far as it could with the tail only further pushing it on his end. He let her get things done, hearing the metal shuddering across the station, the whine of power increasing as time went on...and a most appreciated blast of fresh air to blow away some of the must that permeated the area as she hung her feet down over the edge of the desk.

Thinking on things for a moment, weighing pros and cons between the options, Jazz spoke as Stephine crackled to life in the back of his head. Yea, definitely feels like a lot is gonna go wrong if we're not careful to say the least. At least that's just my gut feeling on the matter. We should probably go up to the control room now and make a full check of what needs to be done and what may have gone wrong out here, make a list, check it twice and get a full idea of what we need to do before doing it, make things less messy in the end. Just hope we don't have any viruses that decided to nest down here when we go down below to fix and maintain things. He spoke finally, looking around the musty and dusty station. Gotta agree with Jazz here. Stephine spoke finally. Ugh, stupid ass book, give me the run around will you. ANYWAYS. I'm running blind here for the moment since it's still connecting down there, Prose, but I have full connection and speaker functions. I'm at my PC too, so if you need some outside input I'm available to help if you want. She continued, tapping away at her PET and Computer keyboards. Alright, you heard the woman. Lets get a full checklist of what's wrong out in this building and see what we can do to keep it maintained and fixed. Jazz continued off his partner, letting out a stretch with some pops of his arms and shoulders. Let me just get a little comfortable here for a second. He spoke, suddenly remembering something.

Spreading his arms and legs outwards, the lapine began to take on a faint glow, even as his scars began to take on that same glow, the rabbit's bodysuit began to rip apart at the seams, eyes closed, his body just bare enough to pass "rigorous" censorship policies in TV, the rabbit's body quick to cover itself up. A large pair of black overalls began to come up around his legs, a good size or two bigger than he was meant to wear out and about as it drooped down on one side as it came up around his chest, shoulder and back, buttoning one side of the outfit while the other remained loose and unbuttoned to the main outfit. Meanwhile, the scarred rabbit's chest was covered with a white, oil covered wife-beater shirt, staining the fur underneath briefly before drying out. All the while, his arms took on a large black jacket similar to Prose's from Yoka, covering him from the shoulder down to his midsection, a rather large pair of white bat wings with a good couple feet wingspan each, sprouting from his back at the shoulder blades before shrinking down slowly to a more manageable foot apeace. And for the cherry on top, a large red pompom sprouting from his head in the middle, going up a good foot or so on it's own power before the pompom began to droop for a few centimeters from it's weight. All the while, there were pockets upon pockets on both Jacket and Overalls, not to mention the insides, all filled to the brim with tools, all deadly, destructive, restorative or a combo of the three, with a pair of leather gloves dyed black (and from the looks of the divots in the knuckles, some steel to make an enemy go loopy) to go with the entire outfit. After the cross finished, Jazz leaned forwards to give the bunny a peck on the lips again with a playful grin. It ain't a kid, but it's the next best thing with a cross. Funny how helping a girl out with her troubles and giving her a good night can make both parties come together in a special way. He teased playfully, nosing her gently before leaning back to give her space to get down. I don't know what happened, but my gut's telling me to call you a "fucking showoff" right about now.
Still sitting on the desk, Prose gave a short nod to Jazz's decision, but then tilted her head, leaning back to watch with one eyebrow raised as his form shifted and changed. She was grinning by the time the shift was complete, running the tip of her tongue over the the pointed tip one tiny fang as she took in the new look. His quick affection was met with a reciprocated, if equally brief, return motion before she broke into a fresh giggle.

“Heh... Looks like I made an impression, huh?” The now even comparatively smaller woman leaned forward to reach out one hand and stroke it over his chest, brushing her finger tips against the surface of his emblem; despite the cross, it hadn't actually changed, and the moment might bring to mind the brief realisation that Jazz had seen every intimate inch of the bunny-girl's body quite thoroughly, and she didn't seem to have one of her own. “It's nice to know there are real ways that people remember you, more than just paperwork and responsibilities, you know?” The short moment of a warm, soft expression lasted just long enough to slip back into a bubbly, mischievous smirk a moment later. “I mean, I don't know about kids or anything, but the coming together bit is definitely fun.” She poked her tongue out at him briefly then winked and skipped off the desk before she could be punished for her terrible joke. Jazz was left to follow her across the quiet, empty lobby space towards the stairs up; she paused at the base to wave him on and darted upwards with nimble, rapid skips, disappearing from sight a second later.

Most of the initial thrum of sound had died away again now that things seemed to have run through whatever start-up they were doing; the internal lights were on now, but it still left the area feeling eerie and empty in the spacious quiet. The open space outside looked darker now that the lights were on, but for the moment things seemed safe enough still.

Up the winding stairs, Jazz would find himself climbing for a solid three or four storeys worth of steps, all in silver metal gantry and smooth walls; small light globes were set into the inner column of the stairs every quarter turn, giving off enough glow to see clearly. Eventually, it opened into the centre of a large, round chamber with a glass dome top that showed the starry sky above. A slim ring of narrow desks circled the stair well, with walk-through gaps between them and office chairs. Beyond the ring, the outer circle of the chamber had a double bank of terminals all the way around, each with a small work station alongside it. Up here, there were no signs or descriptions of any sort; it gave the impression that no-one who was up here, if they were supposed to be up here, would need any signs.

Movement on on side drew his attention quickly to Prose. The smaller rabbit had darted across to one of the terminals and was tapping at it now; she had taken one of the office chairs, but rather than sitting in it normally, had turned its back towards her work station and was kneeling up on it, leaning over the back with her hips swaying side to side as she swivelled the chair back and forth. She glanced over her shoulder long enough to wave to Jazz with one hand and continued.

“Okay, so, this is the observation level. It's where you can check on the basic status of all the house guests in the holding and containment levels below. I can do basic checks here, but can't actually fix anything other than really minor software problems. Each containment is on a closed, independent sub system, with some hard gates for security, so I'll have to check each one of these terminals. Well, most of them. It'll only take a minute though...” Her body language was relaxed and lazy, with languid rocking back and forth on the swivel chair and her tail licking at the end of each twist to flash beneath her skirt suggestively at regular interval,s but if Jazz looked past that to where she was working, her fingers on the terminal moved a blurred pace that he could barely follow.

After a second, the screen she was at changed to show a closed room, and behind Jazz, a holograph of the cell lit up on a curved display in the middle of the chamber. The room itself looked like a fairly comfortable hotel room, with soft carpet, a simple bed, a book case and a desk; it had no doors or windows. A book was open on the desk, three quarters through with the open page only half filled with writing. A pile of blank tomes rested by the foot of the desk, tall enough that someone sitting at it could pick up the top book easily. A figure was lying in the bed, under the covers, seemingly asleep, except for the way in which streams of soft green light streamed from under her eyelids, drawing tracers across to the desk before fading from sight half way. As prose worked, the lights in the chamber flickered across to a pale green, and instead of the figure in the bed, Jazz could see a figure made almost entirely of soft pink light sitting at the desk, writing furiously; where the streams of green light had faded out before, they faded in, in pink light now, connecting up with the the eyes of the spectral figure. At the terminal, Prose sighed and nodded.

“She's happy. Okay, next...” With a shove and a clatter, she rolled her chair across to the next terminal, roughly bumping the other chairs along in the process. The image shut off, and moments later was replaced by a new one. Similar to the last, this one showed a chamber that was lightly but comfortably furnished. In the centre of the room, a humanoid figure with six arms sat in seeming meditation. One pair of hands was folded across its chest, a second held a prayer stance, with one closed fist curled inside the open palm of the other. The last pair of hands was pulling frantically at the program's hair, in a strange fervour, completely ignored by the rest of its sedate, calm, body language; whenever one hand successfully pulled a chunk of the long flaxen hair out, it immediately disintegrated in its grasp and grew back on the program's scalp. Once again, Prose nodded, then shoved her chair along. One by one, images of programs with obvious, strange eccentricities or anomalies showed up. The ones she was moving through right now had clearly printed designate numbers on both the terminals and the screens that showed up; each was listed as “CL1RN” followed by a dash and two letters. Further down ring of consoles, Jazz could see the designates changed to “CL2CN”, “CL3CN”, “CL4CN”, and finally a single terminal separated from the others with the designate “CL5UN”. Prose had started just to the right of that one and was moving right – seemingly putting it off until the end.

The scanning went on for another minute or so, giving Jazz enough time to look around or ask any questions, though despite her teasing, Prose stayed mostly focused on her work as she chatted and answered. She had just about reached the end of the the 'RN' designate terminals, seemingly without problems, when, from below, a sound of breaking glass echoed up the stairwell; Prose glanced back and caught Jazz's eye.

“Sounds like you're up, lover boy. I'll be here if you need, okay? Be careful!” She paused long enough to blow him a kiss over her shoulder, then perked up with a fresh grin. “Oh. It's a bunch of Invaders. You'll be fine! Go get 'em!” Jazz could rush back down to take care of the new arrivals, but he could possibly also guard the stair until they come up, depending on how close he wanted to be to Prose while he was fighting... either for potential help, or if he wanted to show off.”

Choose your battlefield!

Observation Room: Mostly metal terrain, lots of technical equipment, may be possible to blockade the viruses in the stair well if they're forced to come up. Prosopopoeia.lapin is here.

Entry level: Mostly normal terrain, more room to work with, leads out to the viewing platform and then out into Spaaaaace. Enemies will will also have more space to manoeuvre. Prose (probably) won't see you being awesome.
Jazz let out a chuckle, the bladed knife and yellow music note crossing over one another as if they were equals, strange enough he didn't change to a emblem similar to hers...granted...she didn't seem to have one of her own, bringing far more questions to him than answers, but for the time being, it was irrelevant considering what she had told him, so she was maybe a special type of navigation program? Or something entirely different. Hard to say at the very least. But as she made that horrendous joke, well, Jazz just had to try and swat her ass for that at the very least, though she managed to slip away from him before he could connect. Regardless, he followed her like a good bunny, he could give her a swat later when things were done.

Moving swiftly with the objects in every pocket he had clinking around with a metallic sound as his feet continued to make the dull thrumming across the area, doing his best to keep up with Prose. Reaching the stairs, the rabbit let out a sigh as he began to make his way up, practically hopping up the stairs one step at a time in a fairly quick rhythm, ignoring the atmosphere for the time being as he continued to try and keep up with her. Grunting out as he finally made it to the top of the three stories worth of stairs, a little winded as he patted his chest, the navi turning his head upwards as he looked on at the scenery in front of him, ear twitching subtly at the lack of personnel...the lack of anyone for that matter being here. It seemed like they were out on lunch or something, but that was just him thinking. Then the movement drew him to Prose, eyes looking square at the bunny's for a moment before she started on what she was doing, giving him a sway of her hips from side to side, leaning over the back as she swiveled the chair back and forth with a chuckle from Jazz. Not a bad place for an observation deck...y'know, minus the atmosphere. Kinda cozy in a way with the stars shining outside... Jazz spoke finally, hands laced across the back of his head as he began to take note of how Prose was acting on the job...lazy...relaxed...but at the same time, her fingers going faster than he could follow...she was definitely in the mindset of doing her job, even if her body language suggested otherwise.

Turning around to the display firing up behind him, the rabbit eyed the closed off room, a simple room, but comfortable enough for what it looked to be. His eyes immediately looking over at the figure in the bed and causing him to raise his brow, hands parting from behind his head and instead stroking at his chin, wings doing a curious little flutter without him even thinking about it and whipping the air up around him briefly. The green light streaming from beneath the eyelids as the figure "slept"...then the lights flickered across the room, a pink figure...writing ever so furiously as the bedded figure's eyes flickered across in the same pink light as the figure. Curiouser and curiouser... he mumbled as he stroked his chin before turning back to Prose as she began to roll her chair along to the next terminal.

And again, another room flickering on moments later from the last as Jazz turned around and let Prose do her work. Much like the last room, it was comfortable enough to live in if nothing else if you didn't desire much in your room (he wasn't one to complain about a free room, let alone ones like the ones on screen) but...this seemed different...a containment facility? A shelter? It was hard to tell as he watched the six armed navi ripping out it's own hair as it continued to meditate, seemingly unaware...or ignored...what the last two were doing to it as the hair grew back. He continued to turn back and forth between Prose and the navis that flickered on screen for a few moments, each eccentric or having peculiar anomalies, but each different from the last in those peculiarities.

Hey, Prose, anything you can tell me about this place? I can tell you now, I won't speak a word about what's happening here. But...all these programs...these navis...what are they here for? Jazz finally asked as she continued along the consoles in her path, each and every program popping up as he continued, his eyes trying to learn without asking. Each one...I can't put my finger on it...but each-a these programs seem to be afflicted with something that's not exactly "Normal". Is this place to keep em outta the public eye or somethin? He spoke, worriedly as he continued to watch things unfold across the screen...at least until a crashing sound of glass happened to echo up towards them. His head turning to meet Prose's eyes and letting out a sigh. Figured things would start happening now of all times.

Roger. I'll meet them down as far as I can to give ya some room, you just worry about getting things completely checked out. Jazz nodded at Prose, whilst Stephine was finally patching in on Jazz's position, and with it a clear screen of what was going on. Through the static and fuzz, She finally got Jazz's position on screen as her computer copied the feed onto itself. FUCKING FINALLY! Cheap ass PET, last time I get one pre-owned. Alright Jazz, I've got visuals. Sounds like just in time, too. She exclaimed, with all the fervor of a drunken sailor as her face came up next to Jazz's head. I'll keep an eye on your love bunny, Prose, but don't hesitate to ask me anything or ask for a little help, I think I can handle multi-tasking while I'm here. She continued, giving Prose a nod as she blew a kiss to Jazz, who in turn gave the bunny a wink. Alright, I'm headed down to deal with the riffraff, see if I can't get one or two of them thrown out the airlock while I'm at it! He chuckled, beginning to run down the stairs as fast as he could, resisting the urge to slide down the stair's handrail lest he dizzy himself in the process.

With no time to wait for an answer to his curiosities, Jazz made his way down the stairs just as quickly as he'd climbed before. As he got to the bottom of the stairs, the hare and his operator were greeted with a sight that they'd been more or less forewarned of. The glass entry doors had been shattered inwards, and a couple of electrical scorch marks marred the lobby floor beyond. Two figures, mostly humanoid in appearance, but with much smaller bodies and substantially larger, more bulbous heads had drifted in through the shattered doors and were crossing the lobby when Jazz arrived; they each wore tight white body suites trimmed with black highlights, and where their faces showed he could see strikingly purple skin tones and angry, bloodshot eyes. Both wore ill-tempered scowls which only twisted into deeper sneers as they clocked Jazz.

Behind them, just crossing the threshold of the broken door, two more of the strange invaders drifted inwards, arms folded across their chests as they started to scan the room. One of the front ones barked a series of quick, short commands in a viral tongue, and the group immediately began to spread out and prepare for a fight.

Invader2Invader2 (Invader)

Flying about with its eyes bloodshot, its lips permanently scowling, and its comically tiny arms folded, the Invader is a mostly humanoid-shaped virus, about 5 feet tall, wearing a tight bodysuit that covers its body from neck to toe. It is much shorter in reality, however, if you look past the gigantic cranium it has on its head, which easily takes up a third of its total size. Bulging with folds and creases, it seems to pulse every few moments with electrical arcs running over its surface. With intelligence up and above most viruses (and some Navis), they will not hesitate to use more complex tactics than normal viruses. The V1, V2, and V3 versions have blue, purple and red skin respectively. Normal versions wear a white bodysuit with black trim, while EX versions wear a black bodysuit with white trim. The Z version has light green skin with purple bodysuit and black trim, and its eyes are entirely purple.

Making his way down in a hurry, Jazz's cross disappeared in a puff of smoke, leaving the rabbit even heavier than before, leaving him with a groan and a grunt as he hopped off the steps, the rabbit dressed in his normal bodysuit, scars peeking out of some crevises of his body as the little purple creatures caught Jazz in the stairwell. Tch. At least this didn't burn out the cross...I think I could still activate it later if I wanted to... Jazz mumbled under his breath as battle routine set in, the rabbit looking up at the quartet of little purple men in straightjackets hovering into the main entry area, two in front...two in back...

Alright, I can work with this...Stephine, mind bringing up some data if ya can? Way ahead of ya fuzzy butt. Fuzzy butt!? From what little I managed to dig up, they SEEM to be an evolutionary offshoot of the Voltz family of viruses. Though instead of electrical shocks in a area, they prefer mind beams that chain to other targets, so don't think about using cover on this one. They...also seem to have some REALLY dangerous tactics...smarter than the average virus...unique tactics...smarter than some navis so you're up a shit creek on that one FUCK YOU! and to top it off, these little purple alien fucks have free flight AND can use the chip MindBender once each, which will turn your little rabbit brain into a confused mush for a good bit. Oh, and they'll lop off a good quarter of your HP per hit. But since you're alone and there's like, no objects around...you shouldn't have to worry about chain effects if they miss. Stephine spoke, with a few interjections from Jazz in return for her jabs at him. She continued to look over the field as she tapped away at his PET and her keyboard, idily shuffling through her chips she had strewn across her computer desk for easy access.

Thinking for a brief moment, Jazz quickly reached into his navisuit, the rabbit rummaging around the chest area before pulling out a small object...a seed? A seed? What's that supposed to do? Seriously. Stephine asked simply and quickly, tilting her head. You'll see. Send me the IceDragon too, it's something I'm gonna try incorporating into my fighting style, those dragon chips will definitely be a nice boost. Jazz began, pointedly and simply to Stephine as he slowly moved the seed between thumb and forefinger. Rolling her eyes, Stephine slotted the chip in quickly thinking it was gonna just fizzle. Once the data had reached Jazz, he was quick to grin at the Invaders as he turned his attention to them. Sorry ya little purple bastards, we don't want no galactic overlords here on Tera Firma. But we ain't gonna let ya leave without a little...gift... Jazz continued as he flashed them a grin, bringing his arm backwards, hand in a fist before swinging it back forwards like a pendulum and letting the seed fly towards the duo of viruses, letting the arc attempt to go up and over one of the invader's heads...just enough to drop right behind the two and in turn...as the exact moment the seed hit the ground...an innumerable amount of wooden spikes would explode outwards from the drop off point in an instant, as mud, vines and bugs clung to them all the while a massive spike exploded out from the point of impact and drilled deep into the ground beneath, sending out an echoing yawn from the newly created chasm...and a deep guttural roar from deep within...

Keeping himself light on his feet, Jazz would make his move away from the stairwell before they could fire off their attacks. His feet quick, the rabbit began to move towards the left of the area, inch by inch he made a quick hop into the air, twirling himself through it in the process as his feet scraped barely above the field in such a way to bring himself away from the walls if nothing else. But as he did this dodge, the rabbit began to summon the Dragon within, the hole within the area beginning to let out a light rumble as he began the summoning process. And amongst the rumbles, a cold breeze blew and out came the dragon itself, a small beast not much bigger than the Invaders that flew through the area, the small aquamarine creature with shining scales in the bleak atmosphere crying out with a monsterous gutteral roar, beedy red eyes scanning the extraterrestrial creatures in the area as it rolled through the air, taking aim at the majority of the group. Rearing it's head back and inhaling, cold sharo air was quick to follow as it made a bombing run at the two in the open part of the area, freezing ice covering the floor for a hot second before melting away...all the while as it did it's bombing run on the trio it was targeting across the entire field, icicles began to form in the air seemingly out of nothing, twirling and rotating, waiting to launch another attack or shatter into pieces if the targets were successfully hit. After it's energy was spent, the dragon quickly returned to it's hole from where it came from, disappearing with narry a sound.

Another moment of time, another moment he spent not moving, Jazz was quick to make a correction to this behavior. He didn't need to move far, he just needed to move fast...he's dodged lightning before, he could keep doing this...he had to keep doing this...his mind racing with ideas, he quickly thrust himself away from where he stood again, attempting to find a pattern or something in their attacks, a way to avoid them more consistently evade...but for the time being, he continued to move away from the walls of the area in an attempt to keep in the open area. All the while, a second click entered his PET and with it, a quick chant. Mystical energies quickly wrapping Jazz around in protective powers, a barrier and casing coming live without a second thought and on top of that, a familiar yellow shield wrapping around his forearm as he lifted it up and readied himself to reflect his problems away.

The Invaders seemed to take Jazz's self-assured threats with the same emotion they showed most things – a bloody-eyed calculation and a more domineering presence than their short statue might suggest. The two who had advanced towards Jazz both split sharply to the left and right as he threw his first attack, apparently ready for such an obvious play – but Jazz hadn't been aiming for them to begin with and as the seed struck behind the pair, one of the two was caught in the sudden eruption and rending of the ground; it hissed and shrieked something, though the large-headed virus sounded more insulted and offended than hurt at his stage.

As the lead two invaders parted to either side, Jazz was left facing the pair behind ,who had been waiting for that exact moment to launch a pair of arcing lighting bolts towards him from the centre of their foreheads. The first blistered up the centre of the lobby and Jazz managed to duck aside as he positioned; the other was arced up at the ceiling, rebounding down towards him from a more unexpected angle; this time, the hare only just barely managed to throw himself out of the bolt's way, though his nose caught a faint whiff of singed fur.

The invaders had started to move into the lobby properly now, spreading out and around to give Jazz nowhere to hide or shelter, but with all eyes on him, it seemed they hadn't quite expected the sudden emergence of a frosty summoned ally from the fresh-torn hole in the lobby floor. The dragon's attack caught two of the creatures off guard as they focused on Jazz; one of the lead pair took the full brunt of the attack from behind and was frozen solid, shattering as he fell. The other survived, though hunched over, clutching at his throbbing head in obvious agony from the unwanted brain-freeze. Nearer the door, the third blast of frost failed to stay on target for the other invader, but there still remained ice crystals in the air, aiming towards the creature.

The most injured invader straightened again ,letting out a pained shriek this time as its bloodshot eyes locked onto Jazz. Another powerful bolt of electricity erupted from it, just as Jazz manged to bring his own protections up; the bolt struck the shield he raised and Jazz felt the jolt crackle up his arm under the force of it, before the blow-back came and the guard responded, returning the bolt with extra speed. The Invader had a moment to realise this failure of its attack, before its own lightning bolt struck it in the chest and blasted it from the network..

The remaining two Invaders glanced at one another then back to Jazz; one closed its eyes and reached up to run fingers across its over-sized head, dragging off a scattering of psychic sparks that flared across the whole lobby; The other alien was ready and covered its eyes from the flare, shielding itself, but Jazz wasn't quite so fortunate as the flash of light seared at his mind, leaving the hare befuddled and momentarily disoriented while his senses were scrambled with broken static.

Having managed to avoid being rabbit-on-a-stick, Jazz avoided the worst of his enemies for the time being. UNFORTUNATELY for him, however, he forgot to shield his eyes from an incoming chip from the invader scum themselves, the rabbit immediately hobbling backwards as he rubbed at his eyes almost immediately in response...finding nothing had changed and instead, his legs began to wobble about to and fro, his body practically and completely out of his control for the time being. Jazz? Hey Jazz! What's going on here!? Stephine called out in response, the navi having trouble staying up on his feet amongst the confusion that inherently attacked his senses. Mind all full of a blanket of static, his ears ringing out internally as he continued to drunkenly move about, his own form barely resembling his normal paterns in the slightest. Hakkasbnsaljnhsa! Exclaimed the rabbit...a jumble of letters and static escaping his mouth, no way to discern what he was saying, let alone any chance to figure out his plan of attack.
Tapping away immediately at her PET and keyboard, she brought up a complete diagnostic of Jazz's condition...and found out the problem. His mind was fried for the time being, he barely had any atonomy, he could probably...MAYBE...take directions if she sent it into him directly and even that was a crapshoot. Even for her tastes, there was no telling if he'd wind up stabbing himself on his own sharp, pointy objects he had literally all over his person, let alone as hit the target she intended him to hit. Grumbling under her breath as she furiously typed at her computer's keyboard, fast as her fingers would let her, heavy typing sounds echoing off her apartment's walls as she furiously attempted to take direct control of Jazz's systems...even briefly...code flowing across her screen in a frantic attempt to get Jazz to, if ANYTHING, manage to hit the Invader that was not confused...if the IceDragon shot managed to connect, a single hit from Jazz would knock it out of the fight and keep him from getting too terribly singed by the Invader's Synapse beams.

All while Stephine was attempting to force Jazz to do something, ANYTHING, in his addled state, Jazz's legs continued to move about unpredictably. His movements stopping and starting all at random as he moved, even internally his mind was empty, absolutely no thoughts...no instincts...no nothing, just the barest basics to try and get him to stay on the net without actively sabotoging those systems. All the while, as Jazz drunkenly dodged about in an unpredicatable way, the ice shard that remained trained itself onto the Invader it had been given targeting data to. The sharp icicle immediately training itself, hovering briefly as it moved back and forth, slowly angling up and down as the Invader moved...and launched itself at the purple people eater with reckless abandon. Okay...okay...if my code works...this SHOULD do it... Stephine mumbled to herself, she wasn't sure if it WOULD work...but regardless...she hit enter and sent in her code. Code sent, Jazz's mindless body began to pick it up and stopped his drunken stumbling about, his head raised towards the Invader, the rabbit's puppet strings brought his arm into his suit and bringing out a trio of ampoles from within. Needles making a quiet sheen in the artifical light of the station, as his eyes trained upon the virus, his arm being slowly brought back slowly as his robotic motions quickly launched them at the creature in a loose fan pattern as Stephine would hope it would at least have ONE of those needles hit the flying creature in the air. Alright...I just need to send that one more time as his body tries to avoid being hit...thank god I don't need to type all that out again...

As Jazz's legs began to move again, his mind slowly began to clear up, a semblence of his original self beginning to shine through as the dodges became less drunken movements and more...slurred attempts at a proper dodge. His body beginning to duck and bob along the field as his legs brought him further and further away from the walls and more towards the middle of the room so he could more easily dodge attacks once his body got back it's full control. All the while, Stephine sent in the hastily made script for Jazz's empty mind to follow again, his body shifting slightly as the commands were recieved and his body began to obey to some extent. His arm reaching to the side of him as a trio of similar ampoles were brought out, a sheen on the fillings of those ampoles revealing a corrupted looking liquid within sloshing around, sticking to the insides of the glass vial for brief moments before sliding down like any good liquid would. His arm slowly being puppeteered again, raising itself backwards behind the rabbit as he obeyed and with it, a swift throw in a similar loosely tied fan formation being slung upwards towards the intended target, and hopefully with it, the death of the little outerspace bugger.

Though the invader that had used its disorienting attack still seemed to be recovering, its remaining ally confirmed that Jazz had been afflicted, then strafed slightly and prepared to press the attack hard while it had the chance. As it focused on the wavering white navi, however, the other invader stood straight, also trying to shoot their foe; it staggered and brought one hand up to its forehead, focusing abeam, before some kind of static burst crackled around its head and a small scale explosion of psychic force made it reel backwards; the lighting bolt crashed upwards at an angle, before beginning to ricochet around the walls of the chamber in a wild, chaotic series of rebounds. The other Invader was forced to twist aside at the last moment, sending his own beam off to the side of his mark and missing Jazz as well. It muttered something that sounded like a viral curse word.

As this happened, the remaining Ice shard found its aim and lanced downwards, skewering through the unfortunate virus while it was still trying to press its attack on Jazz. The icicle itself dissipated, but lingering frost and ice clung the the creature's body despite its efforts to shake it off.

Not far away, Jazz was doing unsafe things with medical devices, but for now the series of syringes scattered and burst in the air part way across the room, failing to deliver their payload to anything. Still reeling while his operator attempted to code a short term solution, Jazz's haphazard reeling dodges weren't quite unpredictable enough for the injured, but still determined, Invader to ping him with a second lightning bolt. This one scorched through his outer barrier, amplifying itself against the surrounding metal surfaces, but fortunately the hare's first line of defence managed to stop the dangerous strike from penetrating further. The confused one also struck again, at something, though it didn't seem to be Jazz; once again the bolt arced and bounced, rebounding off metal surfaces in an erratic pattern before fizzling out.

Somewhere amidst the electric light show, Jazz retaliated to the bolt that struck him with another scattering of dubious needles. Though the shot itself was fairly wild, one of the syringes did strike against the injured Invader's shoulder. At first, it seemed to shrug it off, but as the contents did their work ,the virus staggered, then stumbled. Then it stood up straight, staring at the ceiling and reaching for its head, before a sudden swelling in its cranium burst into a series of four large, purple-fleshed, ridiculously muscled arms, each of which pounded fists down onto the ground and lifted the Invader bodily up, leaving it dangling from the top of its own skull like a puppet. Its eyes had gone from a calculating bloodshot coldness to a bestial, insentient red as it charged at Jazz , four fists knuckle-pounding across the floor while the small body swung uselessly between them. It lurched as it caught up, reared back and swung once, then again with its two leading arms, though both swings missed Jazz.

The body of the Invader began to shriek and the mutated creature stopped, stumbled, then sagged onto its back fists while the other two lifted up and, with a series of savage shrieks, began pounding on its own brain case. On the third simulations strike, the upper part of the virus burst and exploded into broken code and psychic static that chained across the room. By sheer dumb luck, Jazz had stumbled behind the service desk and the rolling wash of confusion managed to miss him, but the other Invader, just recovering from its own confusion attack, was not so fortunate. When the static cleared, the ruptured remains of the mutated Invader seemed to have reverted in death, as the glitch faded away; only one foe remained now.

Battlefield is a large spacious lobby interior, with a service desk on one side and the stairs on the other. The far end of the field to Jazz has the shattered glass doors which lead out to the viewing platform where they arrived.

-=Objects=-
Service Desk: 120Hp [MetalBody] [Opposite Jazz, near end of the lobby]
Groaning out as he returned to normal, Jazz began to slowly awaken from his drunken stupors, having managed to make his way over to the metal desk he never thought to use earlier and collapsed behind, but regardless of what happened prior, he was reeling from more than just a massive hangover. Blinking away the floating bubbles from his vision, the rabbit slowly managed to get to his feet, head turning back and forth as he realized he wasn't in the main area and instead behind the desk in the end of the lobby. Stephine.Jazz.How. In the name of the hero...did I get behind this desk? And why are there only one of the viruses left? Jazz asked...as calmly as he could in his current predicament, head turning to the final virus as he hid behind the desk for a moment, realizing his barrier was broken while his mind was out to lunch. Long story short? Mindbender fried your wittle wabbit bwain for a moment. I had to force-code your arms to attack with...ah...needles? Whatever you threw at them, you killed the other Invader remarkably with a glitch of all things and it used Mindbender again before hand...somehow you got over there and now are not confused, while it's remaining ALLY is. Funny how things work out in a cosmic sense.

Stephine had explained to the rabbit what happened, Jazz, STILL befuddled by what happened, let out an exasperated sigh as he rubbed his eyes again, preparing himself to fight for one more moment. Alright...alrightalrightalright. Just...please give me the CircleGun1. I think I can end this here. Jazz spoke, slightly exasperated as he began to channel the powers of nature into his body. Even this far up from the world below (so to speak), he had a grasp of Nature in it's purest form. The wafting breeze of a sunny spring day blowing in from behind the bunny as he took a deep breath, filling his lungs with much less stale air than he had been breathing for the last little bit. As he did so, his body took on a faint glow, his hands reaching into his suit to pull out a quartet of bullets, rounded to a sharp point to pierce through even the toughest of hides in the network.

Receiving his chip data, Jazz kneeled behind the counter somewhat. Slowly but surely, a long barreled sniper rifle began to compose itself into his waiting hands. Well crafted, the weapon was worn and full of scars and markings, black soot clinging to the barrel whilst the body and stock were made in a manner befitting the rabbit, wood and dulled titanium forming the body in a haphazard way as the stock leaned into his shoulder almost painfully so. Dropping down a pair of arms for the weapon's barrel, Jazz placed the weapon down gently on the metal service desk and with it, looked down the metal sights atop the barrel, slowly moving the weapon out of the doorframe and with it, taking aim at the virus. Inhaling deeply, Jazz held his breath as he inserted each bullet into the side loading chamber one at a time, filling it with it's four shots and loading the first into the firing mechanism. Without a sound, Jazz took his aim, keeping himself trained on the virus for as long as he could, holding his breath and steadying his aim...and took the shot. A blast of gunpowder filling the room as he took the shot, an echo of the blast ringing out loudly across the area and hoping for a headshot on the little purple navi eater.

Ejecting the used bullet casing from the opposite side of the weapon, the hollow bullet rang out against the floor for a brief moment before Jazz repeated his attacks. One after another, rifle cartridges ejected from the same side of the weapon, all while the weapon's blasts rang through the area and attempted to find purchase in the Invader's squishy skull, all the while Jazz continued to hold his breath and tried to keep his aim steady, even as the recoil of the weapon blasted painfully into his shoulder.

With his mind clear and his remaining foe less so, Jazz was able to collect himself and make sure he finished this particular invasion soundly. As much as it took him a few moments to set up his rifle properly, the Invader seemed to reel about near the entry way, struggling to clear its vision and unable to focus on him directly. A few moments late,r Jazz was able to sight and fire; despite his target's weaving stumbles, he was able to connect a single clean shot that pierced through the virus' bulbous head and fling the body backwards out the door, where it tumbled across the observation deck and stilled. Without nay need to take his remaining shots, it seemed this incursion was done with and Jazz was able to pack up his kit and quickly claim the fragmented data spoils that remained.

With the field cleared, and no further threats, Jazz was free to return to his mission-buddy when he was ready. Back up the stairs, her found Prose still working... more or less. Rather, his first sight upon cresting the stair well was of the bunny girl kneeling up on the back of her chair, leaning over the desk while she tapped at a console with just one hand, going through the checks a lot more slowly; the other hand seemed to be tucked away near her chest, out of sight. For some reason, her skirt was also hiked up more than it needed to be, bunched up on the top of her hips rather than doing its covering duty. On the screen in front of her, and displaying on the larger central view, was a room that looked, at first, to contain several male, humanoid-looking navigators, though they bore faintly bestial features around the ears and eyes, as well as tufts of grey fur at their wrists and ankles, and matching canine tails. The details were visible because the figures in the room were otherwise undressed, and engaged in very energetic adult activity with each other. A second glanced revealed another oddity; it wasn't many different navigators, so much as a half dozen exactly identical beings, down to the last hair and freckle. Prose was swinging back and forth slowly on the pivot of her chair and biting her lip as she watched the screen.

A Jazz arrived, however, her glance snapped around and he caught the sound of a small gasp; the hand on the key pad raced over it quickly finishing the cheeks and sliding the view out of sight as she half turned and thrust a hand down over her behind to straighten her skirt. Despite the quick fix, an obvious flush of colour remained in her cheeks, where her fur was thinnest.

“Ah! All done? That was quick!” There was a paused moment where her eyes fixed on Jazz, but they both knew she hadn't successfully hidden anything from him. “Em... Still, ah, running through the checks. No problems found yet, but, um... the rogue level guests all seem a little bit more active than normal. Not sure why yet.” She swallowed and cleared her throat, then grinned and rolled her shoulders, then turned back to the console and moved along to the next one.

“So, um... So you asked about what the place is before.” She started to chat brightly, attempting to brush quickly past any comments on her less than professional behaviour. “I'm surprised you don't recognise some of it, honestly, though... maybe further down you will. They're not all navigators, but, programs of all sorts, or even some usual viruses, and other net entities that pose a significant danger to themselves, or to others, or, in some cases, to the network as a whole...”

As she spoke, the next screen came up, this time showing what looked like an open field of soft blue grass. A prog was lying in the grass, wearing a simple gardening smock and with a wreath of small roses woven into a flower crown about its large paddle ears. Its eyes were closed and it had a broad beatific smile on its features, while successive curling grows to red roses sprouted from the grass and grew, endlessly. A short way from the prog, anomalies in the blue grass seemed to be constantly rising up to prune back the growths and keep the rose patch from spreading further.

“Even you..? Everyone is just that little bit more... awake...” She shook her head as she moved onto the next screen. “Unless I can work out what's going on, we'll need to actually go down to the containment areas directly. Hopefully we won't need to.” She glanced back and paused, swinging around in her chair to look at Jazz properly, arms folded over the back and with her head on one side.

“I'd like to say that this is all voluntary, but I think you understand it's not. None of the entities that are looked after and contained here are suffering, as best as we can manage, but they can't be helped or rehabilitated either, for the most part...” she glanced away to the side, and a flash of guild slid across her features. “It's... it's also for study. You probably deserve to know that much. Some of these, they'd be decommissioned, or rendered back to base code and rebuilt, or reset and restored in some way. At least, a lot of the upper level ones could be... might wipe who or what they are, but... some of the people I work with insist that this alternative is better than that, and they want to study the anomalies. The worst cases...” She shrugged and rolled her shoulders uncomfortably. “They get locked in different kinds of stasis so that they aren't aware of the time.” Her eyes flicked across to Jazz for a fraction of a second, before she turned back to her work.

The next screen was the first monitor for the terminals labelled 'CN' in their designates, and this one opened on a black space, devoid of light. In the centre of it, a golden skull seemed to float in space, slowly dripping a black substance from each of its cavities, to drizzle down into the black that surrounded it. Prose began running the checks, but as Jazz watched it, the skull slowly turned upwards, towards the view focus, and the rictus grinning smile opened and became a sudden snarl. Nearby he heard Prose utter a word that sounded entirely inappropriate coming from a cute bunny girl.

“He's not even meant to be aware, let alone... angry. It's all stable, he can't do anything or get out, but... he shouldn't be aware at all. What in the world is going on...” Her eyes turned down the line of consoles to briefly look at the one on the far end from her, separated from the rest.

“Jazz... I'm sorry, but I need to go down, now. I need to see this, and I can't leave you here alone. This is way more than you signed on for, but...” She twisted about and hopped down from the chair, darting across to Jazz and reaching up to take one of his hands if he let her.

“I'm so sorry, Jazz. I didn't expect this. I can't leave without fixing it, because I can't report it, because I'm not meant to have navigators close to me for this long. I'm sorry, I just wanted to see you and I thought this would be fine... You can still pull out now, and we can sort something else out later... but otherwise, you need to come with me, and if you do, you won't be able to leave until it's fixed.” She looked up at him, wide blue eyes pleading; the conflict was clear on her delicate features... one part of her obviously wanted Jazz to stay, and come with her, while another part was worried.
Grunting out as he let the chip disentigrate from his grasp, Jazz had slowly gotten his bearrings back, letting out a sigh of relief as the fight came to it's conclusion. He knew full well there was gonna be more rogue viruses before the end of the mission and a chance to enjoy some more downtime with his bunny. But regardless, his PET scooped up the scattered rewards and he made his way back up stairs (ugh), taking the steps two or even three at a time with a hop in his step before finally coming back to where Prose was at...and an..."interesting" sight as he silently walked forward, a blush on his and Stephine's faces as they caught her doing some "extra" things on the clock...the screen obviously flustering Jazz, while Stephine was more in a quiet shock at the screen's occupants. Huh. So even navis can contort like that in a-Hahaha...anyways... The two began to speak in almost tandem before Prose finally noticed the rabbit in the entryway, quickly finding her own composure for the time being.

No, I honestly don't. He responded almost immediately to the question to his question. He was still trying to think before a quick flash of pain and a hazy static overtook his mind for a second. Ooogh. Sorry, trying to remember somethings...it causes some pain...like I have a memory block... He quickly spoke again, pain palpable in his face as he put a hand on his head as she continued to explain, letting out a nod for a brief moment. A timeless stasis eh...sounds a lot like what happened to me...just...less tech involved. GAH! He spoke again, an even larger jolt of pain raising to the surface as he tried to think back even further, just before his "imprisonment", but static flooded his senses for a brief moment as she continued along her checks...and then the anomaly he expected showed up...a golden skull...likely in that timeless stasis...looking up at them from within...aware...ANGRY...it was more than enough for Jazz to snap back to reality as he saw Prose visibly concerned.

I'm going. Don't worry about me, worry more about yourself. He spoke simply after she explained the situation. She'd quickly get a hug from the much larger lapine, picked up and given a kiss on the forehead, letting her face rest on his shoulder after, a heavy squeeze along her body as he whispered into her ear. This ain't even me wanting to advance now. I just want to repay your kindness. I want to see everything through, come hell or high water. I don't want your job to be on the line because of me...and I want to make sure you come out alright. Jazz spoke quickly, simply, succinctly with a playful grin on his face as he gently put her down, kneeling to her level for a moment longer to add on Plus, yer bosses can kiss my ass. Rules were made to be broken, and I don't see anything wrong with ya "fraternizing" or otherwise enjoying your time with navis outside yer organization. He spoke, the firmness of his words hopefully putting to rest any unease she had as he let go and stood. Lead the way, Prose. I'll keep ya protected to my last breath. Worry about your life ahead of mine, I'll do everything to protect you...and everything I can to keep you safe. And don't be afraid to run, I at least have an Emergency Jack Out to fall back on if I do get merked. As far as I can tell, you don't. Yer life's more precious than a megalomaniac's.
Still holding one of his hands in both of hers, Prose closed her yes and seemed to sigh with relief as he answered. She was pliable to his sudden hug, her body slight, warm and soft in his arms as she let her head rest against him.

“Thank you...” It was a soft, vulnerable tone, of a sort he'd only heard once before, whispered delicately in his ear on a previous night, in the tired afterglow of a more enjoyable exercise. After a moment, once he set her down again, he felt her pull back and slip away, seemingly regaining her composure and focus, though she was grinning again now as she looked at him and listened to the rest of what he had to say. Once more, there was that brief flash of something else, maybe guilt maybe uncertainty, as he pondered which of them was safer and her eyes flicked down to one side as she shrugged her shoulders.

“Well, I mean, not, not exactly, I guess... but I'll be fine, I promise... but Jazz, I want you to make me a promise, okay?” Now she looked back up and grinned more broadly, a warmer smile beneath raised eyebrows. “I want you to try to stop thinking about yourself like that, okay? You're not... that... any more. I believe that. Now...” She turned and gestured with her head beginning to move toward the stairs. She'd only moved a few paces before she looked back over her shoulder, winked at Jazz, then broke into a nimble, springing run that seemed to carry her back down the spiralling stairs using the walls as rebounds as much as the steps themselves... though if he keep up it certainly provided an entertaining view.

Back down at the central level, Prose had darted across to the are with marked transit pads and was keying up a data signature. In the upper networks, Jazz might normally have expected the broken hole in the middle of the lobby, or for that matter, the shattered doors, to have auto-repaired and restored themselves by now, but here, the damage still lingered.

“Best we get you down through the proper transits... It sounded like your operator was having trouble keeping a stable connection, and if I take you down further, my way, you'll probably lose her altogether. Using the proper transit should keep it stable for you.” She finished signing something up and one of the pads to her left came online properly, blue light shooting through its various parts and energising the ground plate. Prose tilted her head and bounced on her toes.

“I don't play so nice with these transits, but I'll meet you on the other side, okay? I'll be right there” She winked and waited for him to step onto the pad without her, waving as it whisked him away.

The transport itself was fast and smooth; a rush of the senses that felt like he was descending very quickly, though not quite falling. Sight was a brief blur, though he had the stretched out impression of rushing towards the hollowed out, destroyed planetoid below, but the image fractured and blurred as it extenuated, and his perception shifted suddenly from a dim all around blue light, to a much darker gloom.

When the transport ended, Jazz found his senses righting themselves with a brief dizzy spell and a mild unsteadiness on his feet that passed after a second or two. He was standing in a dark, matte metal grey cubicle of some kind, with a sign at the top, written in a script made up of different combinations of vertical and horizontal lines; it made no sense but something about it seemed oddly familiar.

Beyond the small square space, the landing bay led into a n open circular room with three other similar bays connecting it, and a double door that was half open; it seemed to have come out of its housing on one side, and was at a slight angle, while the other side of the door was completely crumpled and shattered, blocking part of its side in a mangled heap. The room itself was dark; a single panel light in the ceiling tried to flicker on, but didn't manage to light up fully, and only gave a faulty glow to part of the surrounding chamber. A series of desks with broken or upturned chairs were scattered about, and parts of the floor and walls were cracked or broken away, revealing damaged circuitry behind.

“Meep?” A sound from just beyond the partially opened doors echoed through the room.
“Meep! Meep-Meep!!” It was followed by another, more excited sound, before a trio of shapes huddled quickly through the gap. Small shapes; helmeted shapes; helmeted shapes bearing excitedly waving pickaxes. The helmets on these ones were an impressive bright blue colour and they bundled in, chattering excitedly as they looked at Jazz. The trio lined up, and immediately began to scribble on a long sheet of scrap paper that one of them tugged out from under an over-turned bench. The two on either side held up the ends of it; the message read, in cartoonish, childish scripts: “Let Chaos Rule!” The middle one seemed so excited by this prospect that it was hoping from foot to foot, and a brief glow was followed by a single holy panel forming beneath it.

Before anything further could develop, a sound filled the room that felt like the shrieking static of tearing data. The trio of metools cringed and flinched as the sound screeched, and then a familiar white-furred shape landed in front of them, one hand down and posture low; Jazz could see Prose's back, the pose flicking up the back of her skirt, but more prominently, that same faint red glow from before; seen clearly now, he could make out a slender pair of spectral red wings, made of flowing energy, standing proud from between her shoulder blades and casting light around her immediate space. They fluttered slowly as she steadied herself and looked up.

“Meep?” One of the metools tilted its helmet to the side, and Jazz saw the bunny girl glance over her shoulder and then back to the viruses. She stood quickly.

“Ah! No. Shoo! No, no, no... Go on, away...” She began making hurried shooing motions, trying to coax them back out the door. One of the three jumped and and down, then meeped at her again, waving at Jazz with its pickaxe. “I know, I know, but not today, now go on, get... shoo!” They began to turn and amble away, but the most excited of the trio lingered, stamping its foot. Prose's wings glowed briefly. “GO.” The word came out different from her normal voice, and something about it echoed in Jazz's ears for an extra few seconds as the last of the three promptly turned and trudged away after its friends. The bunny girl took a breath and her wing glows died down, fading away to faint pinpoints of light that could just be reflections of the stylised wingprints on the back of her top. She turned, hands behind her back and a broad, if nervous-seeming grin on her face.

“Hi! Right, sorry about that! Forgot I had to shut down some extra systems before I followed you down! All good now. Are you ready to go? We've got a bit of walk before we get to the actual maintained part of the facility, but it won't take too long. You'll draw attention until we get to the controlled parts... not many navigator signals around these nets, most of the time, but I think we'll be fine!” She crossed the space between between them, running over so she could jump and spin to land beside Jazz and take hold of his hand, swinging it back and forth, and begin to lead him towards the door. “I keep thinking it would be really nice to get all of the outlying parts of this place neatened up, but there's just no time, and the deep structures don't repair the same way... Inside the filter it's easy enough, that's all kept modernised, but out here... it just falls to ruin, unless one of the cleaner systems happens to chance over it, and you know there just aren't enough of them that actually work any more down here, so the odds of that are slim to none. I haven't seen a Myriad-M or a Myriad-E in these parts in months, and we've only got F-series ones kept here for observation anyway, so they're no good, unless you like playing 'the-floor-is-lava'...”

Prose rambled at an almost determined pace as she led Jazz out past the ruined doorway and into the passages beyond. The tunnel immediately branched, each fork with more signs in the oddly familiar script, but his guide didn't hesitate, trotting along at a skip. The one she took him down twisted to the left, then angled hard, before filtering into a broad, circular tunnel that gave way from the dark metal to some kind of glass; beyond it, Jazz could see dark caverns of craggy rock, where floating chunks of stone and metallic space debris floated. In the gaps, he could see the blue-purple star scatter of space, peeking in through gaps in what he could only assume was the destroyed planetoid he'd seen from above.
Inhaling deeply and closing his eyes as he turned his head to see her breaking into a run and bounding down the stairs ahead of him before he could make a comment. I'll try...I really will... He spoke to the air in front of him as he began to run down the stairs down behind her, getting a few peeks at her as she bounded down the stairs, practically slipping himself down along the railing. Meanwhile, Stephine was furiously typing at the keyboard in front of her, popups about various families of viruses popping up in a neat and tidy fashion, information flooding her screen for the time being as she mumbled under her breath. Alright...lets see, so these families exist in the NAXA region...so if I isolate these...oh that's a nasty trick these gain in rogue nets...my my, a number of targets don't like breaking, so Jazz can take advantage of that... She continued to mumble as she continued to pour over the data that recently became available, though she didn't seem metaviruses were going to be a big issue, but all the same their profiles began to pop up as much as she possibly could see, her PC screen absolutely full of these popups.

Whilst Stephine was busy spoiling herself of any possible surprise so she didn't have to fast-code a fix for Jazz, the navi himself met back up with Prose before long, listening to Stephine mumble to herself and giving herself a headache in the process. As he walked through the central level, Jazz noting how the battle damage had remained even after the battle ended, something he'd likely need to get used to. She mumbled something about the PET, something about it being used, so maybe that was part of the problem? I don't know for sure, honestly, it's my first rodeo with the rogue networks myself. Maybe your programming and the sudden phasing through networks may have had something to add to it? But it's sounding like she has the perfect frequency for the rogues, so I doubt it'll be a problem in the future...I hope. Jazz spoke after Prose, shrugging his shoulders simply as he began to move onto the lift. See ya in a minute. He spoke simply, giving a wink as he was whisked downward into the station, deeper and deeper he went as the lights faded out as Stephine continued to mumble to herself all the while, Jazz feeling almost weightless from the quickness and the continued downward motion of the lift...all before he found himself in a dank, dark gloom that permeated along the entirety as he made his stop...and with it, the dizzy spell and unsteadiness that followed, but they passed fairly quickly despite that.

Regardless of the dank and gloom that wafted around his senses, he knew he was in a completely different area...a foreign script on a sign above him... Can't put my fingers on it...but...I feel like I've seen that kind of writing before...been over thirty years...but...hmmm... He mumbled to himself as he continued on, head and body on a swivel as his senses continued to spark and flare up as he continued along...past the cubicle...and into a much more open area, bays going three ways, little light to go on...and a dilapidated...destroyed part of the network beneath the observation area he was at just previously...damaged circuitry, destroyed double doors, it was a blur of destruction and unkemptness that brought his heartrate skyrocketing. Though the sound of a meep brought his attention, liking it or not, he began to slowly make his way towards the sounds...much to his chagrin, it was a trio of metools, even in the dank darkness he knew exactly what those shapes were. "Let Chaos Rule" scrawled out in a childish manner, he began to back up as Stephine piped up in his ear. ARE THOSE METOOL3S!? Those are out of your league! Jazz, get the fuck outta there before they skewer you! She half screamed into his ear...though he was not about to fight against that sentiment, his flight senses kicking in before his savior came down from above, head immediately swiveling to see Prose...and with it, that same peculiar red glow...red wings, he wasn't hallucinating as he phased through the floor...

Fluttering down from above, Jazz stood where he was as she finished her "transport" down from the station, he felt static, heard it shrieking at him as she touched down, memories attempting to flood back before only giving him a migraine, clutching his head in his hand, Prose began to shoo the metool3's away and with it. They listened and began to leave through the door from whence they came...only for one to be defiant and get Jazz's migraine to flare up again as she spoke, echoing across his mind for a moment more before it cleared up and with it, her wings disappearing and with it only faint pinpoints of light...he was calm, he was fine as he let his head go. Alright...despite that scare, I think I analyzed the virus population for NAXA at least...I feel the need to go make a trip to the navishop before we do much more. Stephine spoke in his ear, Jazz concentrating on Prose for the time being. It's alright, you saved me from getting turned into a shishkabob at least. But yea, I'm ready to go forward. Jazz spoke curtly, before directing his attention to his operator. Stephine, we'll deal with what we have for the time being. I don't feel comfortable going forward without battlechip support, maybe after the next fight I get into we'll have enough downtime for a quick trip, god knows I need to get that glitch "upgrade" to my buster overwritten. He responded to her in another breath, letting out a sigh before following along with Prose, giving her hand a gentle squeeze as she took it in hers. I noticed, the broken doors and the hole I made against those Invaders didn't heal, so I'm not exactly surprised it's not exactly kept up down here. But I think I can handle whatever viruses come out of the woodwork, looking for an easy target. He responded again, before blinking briefly and shaking his head. Wait, Miryads? F-Series? Seriously Prose, once we get done with what needs to be put back to sleep or browbeaten back to bed like the defiant child it is, we're having a talk about all this!...preferably at a nice quiet place when you got some downtime. He spoke again, his eyes looking about as he was lead past the doorway, down the interconnecting tunnels that lead deeper and deeper into the area he had been brought into, though despite all the foreboding nature of these tunnels...he couldn't help but...feel kinda homely in them...
The back-of-the-mind sensations of distant familiarity continued to niggle without any clear answers unearthing themselves. The glass corridor continued, drawing a straight line through the destroyed planetoid's cavernous ruins, and for a few moments, there was something approaching quiet. Beyond the tunnel's walls, Jazz could see that they were floating in deep space, with starry nebulae far beyond, and floating chunks of broken rock and ruined structure caught in the degraded gravity of the former planet. The interior seemed like it bore many of these fixed corridors, linking different parts of the rock, while most of the central area seemed to have been blasted open by some monumental force or impact, and the facility constructed throughout the ruins afterwards. His guide had gone quiet after her initial rush of chatter, but eventually glanced up towards him again; the soft red glow at her back was the only real source of light close by and it cast a shadow over her soft smile.

“There's answers I can't give you, Jazz. Answers to questions that no-one ever thinks to ask because they don't ever see me for more than a few minutes. But when we're done with this, I'll tell you everything I can. I promise.” She reached up to give his hand another squeeze, then focused forward again and picked up their pace slightly, breaking into an easy springing amble that was more reminiscent of a literal rabbit's gait than one with her human-like proportions. It made her tail flick up each spring, and conveyed all the same signals.

As they moved, however, Jazz could see that their corridor was approaching the craggy wall of the planetoid again, so presumably the journey to the better maintained area couldn't be too far. It was as he was noticing this, however that the hare would be able to notice something else; a large, jagged strut of metal, connected to an angular section of grey rock, spinning slowly across the open space beyond their tunnel; it arced downward in its travel, and it wouldn't take a mathematician to realise the collision was imminent. As the shadow fell across them, Prose skidded to a halt, backing up a few steps until she pressed against Jazz.

“Ah! Damnit, hang on...” She sounded shocked, but not terribly panicked – though there wasn't exactly anything to hang onto, despite her words. The impact came a moment later; with a dully crunch, the rock struck the top side of the glass corridor. To its credit, the impact was dispersed into a spreading spiderweb of racing cracks, rather than shattering it entirely, but as the chunk of space debris ground across it, the glass warped, pressed inwards, and then with a rending sound began to tear apart, ripping a section clear away from the pathway ahead of them.

Shattering glass floated as the gravity in the tunnel seemed to falter; each step was far, far lighter than it had been before. A few feet from them both, the jagged end of the tunnel had unrolled on one side, leaving a floating strip of fractured glass that seemed to be holding together by whatever strength of reinforcement it bore; a few seconds had torn free entirely and floated away from the centre, while other smaller space rocks also added to the wreckage. A haphazard array of dubiously solid masses were now all that remained between Jazz's end of the tunnel, and the far side, some sixty feet away. Standing with him, Prose frowned.

“Drat... This is what I mean. There are almost no UTE repair programs still working this far down. This will never get fixed on its own... Okay, come on, just, be careful and don't fall, alright?”

She stepped to the edge, then moved with light steps out onto the loosely moving sections of fractured glass; they swayed up and down under even her almost weightless steps. With two or three short hops, and skips between floating debris, the smaller bunny began making her way across the wreckage towards the far side. When she was about halfway, however, a new sound added itself to the others; a dark howling, like black wind that echoed through the space wreckage. Shapes began to take form; three red shadows, each bearing a red-tinged piece of jagged metal and a single eye, two to the left of the tunnel and one to the right, each a short distance off into empty space, but leering inwards. At the same time, electrical cracks began to spark up, responding to the sudden activity; one the piece of metal and rock that had caused this problem, two more shapes pulled themselves out of crevices in the metal; they each looked like progs, but severely damaged; one was missing one ear, and seemed like a bite had been taken out of its side by some other creature; scrambled, dead eyes showed no sign of real awareness as sparks fluctuated and arced from its damaged internals. The other was missing part of its head and one eyes, as well as an arm, but as it clawed its way up, it raised the one it had remaining.

“A- ALL INTRUDERS-” its voice box crackled and skipped. “MUST -MUST RE-REPORT TO-” another break of static, “SOCIAL HUGGING ROUTINES!!” Its one good arm reached out towards the two out-of-place bunnies.

Prose looked back towards Jazz, eyes widening as a hint of true panic seemed to flash across her features and the pinpoints of red light at her back flared into small energy-formed wings again.

“Jazz! Damnit... Jazz, get here, quickly! This is going to seem strange, but please, trust me Jazz! Please! I need you to stay in this field if you can!” As she pleaded, she thrust both hands out to the side from the middle chunk of glass she was standing on, and a red glowing ring of energy spread out from her feet; it was double-layered, and between the two concentric circles, small symbols that looked like a kind of code, naturalised into language, scrolled around the circle's edge. The ring expanded out to take up at least a decent portion of the middle section, before holding steady. A wave of energy stretched up and down from the ring, forming a faint red sphere of light. There was something uncomfortably familiar about it; a thread of something not remembered rebelling against the sight, while Prose's eyes pleaded with him.

-=Forgotten Nightmares=-
DarkmareDarkmare (Nightmare)

Nightmare viruses only appear in battle when Missing Terrain is present, and only one Nightmare may appear per panel of Missing Terrain. Nightmares do not dodge, and they only move by teleporting before and after attacking an enemy. Nightmares have permanent Shadow, unless they are attacking. Teleporting before and after their attacks does not require an action. They will always end a turn while floating over Missing or Hole Terrain. If the Hole terrain is altered in any way, they will instantly teleport to unoccupied Missing Terrain. Nightmares cannot share ownership of a Missing Panel with other viruses that require Missing Terrain to be on the field. If for any reason there is not enough Missing Terrain to accommodate a Nightmare at the end of a turn, the Nightmare will Escape from the battle immediately.

DarkProgs are Mr. Progs cruelly corrupted and warped to become expendable soldiers. They appear mostly as normal Mr. Progs, but their face is much more darkly colored, and have glowing white eyes, as well as missing their left arm. They attack by emitting static around themselves. While they are fairly strong attackers, especially in groups, they have poor endurance, which is only exacerbated by the fact their attacks harm themselves. They very rarely dodge, but will often try to move close to the enemy before attacking.

Battlefield is a field of broken glass, rock and metal floating between the two ends of the tunnel. One section of glass extends to the left of the near end of the tunnel, like an unrolled spiral, and comes to a jagged taper after about half a movement's distance. Other small chunks of various types litter the space, but a single large sheet of cracked glass occupies the mid section. To the left side, about in the middle, a large metal beam angles upwards, with a small gap between its end and the central glass section, up to a large, blocky chunk of metal and stone terrain that seems like it may have been part of the facility at one time. All surfaces maintain their own gravity, somewhat, but it's very tenuous. Don't jump too hard unless you know what you're aiming for.

Making their way through the ruins of the planetoids they wondered their way through, Jazz continued to wind his way through with Prose as blasted corridors they ran through. Jazz knew where they were at, unfortunately Stephine had just not yet caught on, having waved away the thought thinking the Metools had been a misnomer...but no, Jazz knew full well that wasn't a one-time thing. He felt her take his other hand in hers and give a squeeze, the navi giving a squeeze back as they continued along to their target, it was obvious it was gonna be a long way, but all the same, their travels needed to be taken. Of course, there was gonna be some Snafus along the way, as their intended path crunched and folded like nothing else as the path crumpled and disappeared to some degree, missing holes all along the area along with cracked glass, mashed up metal and just barely salient rock clinging onto one another to give them just enough to escape the area.

THEN OF COURSE, there were viruses. Tier 3s no less. And with it, finally putting two and two together, Stephine had a real good idea of JUST WHERE THEY WERE. W-We're in the chaos nets...oh my fucking god she's gonna get you killed. Jazz, simply rolled his eyes at this "sudden revelation" as he nodded to Prose simply. I trust ya, Prose! he called out almost without a second thought, the code...the waves...they seemed...so familiar...but he didn't have time to think on it. But a sneaking thought in the back of his mind...pierced every fiber of his being. You can't trust her. She'll just leave you to die! Echoing about his mind, the voice almost spat angrily in the back of his mind. Jazz stopped in his tracks, not even a single muscle moved as it continued. Jazz!? What's wrong?! Hey! Answer me!Yeh can't escape yer past, Jazz. -I- would know. Just embrace the deeds of the past! EMBRACE WHO YOU ARE! The voice cascaded, louder and louder each word in the back of his head, the words cascading further and further as static...as an echoing hum in his ear turning into a ringing that silenced all the voices around him, a quiet screaming coming from the rabbit as he tried to fight...until a single scream from his PET sounded out. JAAAAAAAZZ! Stephine screamed out as loud as she could, practically bringing him back to reality. Jazz groaned as he held his head, a ringing noise still in the back of his ears, but all the same he could get back to buisness as needed. The rabbit pulling out what looked to be a small box, a very thin green liquid in the front as it contained...something Jazz had concocted in the interm before he made his way to NAXA. Just...just need me a dose of this real quick... He mumbled dryly as he slowly brought the box to his neck, flicking part of the back upwards to reveal a button on the back of it, a needle pricking his neck in short order and with it, an impress of the button, sending the medicine into the troubled hare's systems, draining it in short order and hucking the empty cart away onto the ground without a second thought. Haaaaa...maybe I'll get lucky and it'll keep him quiet till the end of this mission. He mumbled to himself, the rabbit feeling the lack of gravity on his shoulders, all the while he floated just above the paneling. The hare immediately taking off from where he was, making his quick and calculated movements towards Prose all the same, gliding his way across like he was moving along ice, doing everything he could to keep sane, keep his mind on the battle at hand. I'll do what I can to take care of the rabble, Prose. But if you got anything you want me to do, ask, I'll do it without a second thought. He spoke as he made his way over to her, the rabbit skidding to a halt within the barrier, an unpleasent feeling over his body, but nothing he couldn't deal with. No matter what He tells me, I'd trust you through hell and back. He mumbled, looking at the two families in front of him, he would have trouble with the Darkmares, but he could at least disperse with the broken programs for the most part.

A grin on his face, Jazz quickly activated the dragon, bringing his hand down onto the glass surface beneath him, a ripple outwards and a brief second of nothing happening before a cry sounded out, echoing around the area for a moment. Out from one of the missing glass panels, a winged lizard flew from below and into tunel they were forced to fight in. Not exactly a dragon, the tiny wyvern that Jazz summoned had glistening icy scales that glinted even in the chaotic network's low lights, it's size about half that of it's summoner's as an icy aura surrounded it's body whist it flew above all of them. Go! Those programs are your target, plus one of those shadow swords! Jazz cried out as the creature nodded in understanding. The creature immediately letting out a dragonic cry, it divebombed down towards the duo of battered programs without a second thought, icy aura attempting to catch upon their bodies as it flew past, icicles being created as it flew by and attempting to skewer through each program's body, honing in on the delapidated programs for a first pass, as it attempted to divebomb the Darkmare it had chosen, even if it wouldn't hurt it physically it could at least freeze up it's programing and keep it from attacking for the time being. After it's attacks had finished, it let out another cry into the air, it's voice reverberating through the area as a trio of secondary icicles began to float above each target's position, ready to attack again if the need presented itself before diving back into the missing paneling and leaving the area for the time being.

Quickly following up his Wyvern's attack, Jazz held his hands outwards. Don't mind me, just being a little selfish... He playfully said, the rabbit's body quickly glowing with a light green color, sending out waves of energy around his body, a quick pair of a casing and barrier immediately surrounding his body, even as Prose's energy made him just a little bit uncomfortable he had no choice but to get used to it for the time being. The navi immediately pulling a wide barreled gun from his suit, a fell energy emitting from the weapon as he began to take aim at the programs, his arm slowly but surely trying to track upon them. Alright, lets see if we can't thin out this here heard. He mumbled as he fired, fell energy evacuating the barrel realitively quietly hopefully towards the target he took aim at...and with it's impact upon a hard enough surface, exploding outward from it's impact point like a bomb, sound echoing about like the full brunt of a RPG round, shcorched and blackened from all around. Tossing the hot weapon back behind him, Jazz quickly took on a defensive stance within the aura Prose gave off, ready to evade the next attacks that came after him with a simple fient to the side or so much as going backwards if the need came up, if only to save his hide.

As the darkness seemed to grow deeper with the presence of the red shadowed viruses, Jazz saw a flicker of relief on his companion's wide-eyed expression as he answered, before she turned her gaze away, looking at the field surrounding them. Almost immediately the other whisper came, and he was left to fight off the resurgent element in his mind while he saw the bunny girl's form flicker; almost like a static displacements, there were now three of her in the ring, each in light-footed, mobile combat stances, hands up and ready but loose and with no obvious weapons.

Jazz was snapped out of his daze a moment alter and took a dose to steady himself; this particular formula raced through his system and left his senses feeling sharper and more focused; his ears were keen to all of the subtle little noises that gave tell to his enemies' movements, and his eyes fixed on the most dangerous considerations more easily as renewed strength filled him. Not a moment too soon, as it turned out; just as Jazz bounded forward towards the warding field, one of the red shadows warped close to him, blade swinging with ruthless intent. It sailed by, shaving hair with a whisper that Jazz knew would have been nearly enough to bisect him if he had been a few hairs slower.

Just as he reached the circle, he saw another one warp into the middle of the ring; as it appeared, its form shuddered and on Stephine's PET its statistical read out weakened, both in hp and its expected offence values. It seemed to shrug the effect off enough to sweep its blade at one of the Prose figures, but the bunny twisted to one side. I n an instant a second one moved in, slipping one arm up and around the sides of its blade and seeming to hold the virus, planting her feet against its position. The third Prose stepped in, all in the same fluid motion and reached up to place a hand almost softly against the back of its shoulder.

“Sorry...” It was a quiet whisper; perhaps he hadn't been meant to hear it, but either way, tracings of light spread through the virus in a flash and it disintegrated into threads of data and code. The barrier seemed to draw the data back and away, out to the edges then up the dome of the field, before it all funnelled down again in strands of red energy that met up with the tips of one of the Prose-figure's wings and filtered into her. The three images of her stepped apart again, watching, though the one nearest Jazz reached out with a nod, helping to pull him into the circle with her.

Outside the ring, just as he stepped across the threshold and felt the pricking burn of the field on him, another of the darkmares warped in behind. This one didn't cross into the circle, but instead thrust its blade down to the cracked and damaged glass, causing a spreading, sucking dark to swirl up instead; two independent patches of shadow began to howl with an unnerving wind moan, and Jazz could feel them beginning to draw at everything around them, including him. Even so, Prose grabbed his hand and pulled him close the rest of the way a moment later.

“Stay with me, okay? Keep on your toes.” Another flood of energy raced from her grip to his, and while Jazz was already quick, he suddenly began to feel faster than ever before. Just watch those viruses try to hit him now; no chance.

Further off, on the end of the metal strut, the two damaged programs had been steadying themselves and now the damaged crackles of electricity seemed to reach a peak as they both burst into a storm of sparks that briefly lit up the area. The pair positively glowed now, prepared to give a hug to end all hugs. Jazz wasn't about to let them get away with it easily, though, and summoned his dragon with a roar.

The first two blasts of icicles from his summon found their marks, skewering into the already damaged progs with penetrating accuracy. The third, less fortunately, didn't find its mark, even with Jazz's heightened accuracy and sharp senses, but there would be enough time for a second try at least. The Darkmare that had been attacked by the ice dragon warped into the bubble, slamming its sword into the glass and creating another black vortex that sucked and pulled at them; this one was smaller and less immediately painful, as the virus wasn't able to summon as large a rift in its weakened state. Even so, as it lifted its sword, about to warp away again, one of the Prose bunnies stepped in beside it and put a hand on its sword arm. She shimmered and flickered, then winked out of existence as the flickering spread to the Darkmare and its teleport failed, leaving the virus floating over the hole it had made, in the middle of the dome. Anther of the remaining Proses looked to Jazz.

“It's locked in on its attack cycle, so you'll have a clear shot until it warps out.” Despite the danger of the situation, a grin was curling one side of her lips now; she seemed more excited than threatened, now that Jazz himself was inside the field. “You know, it's almost time for me to start the gift runs again. I'm going to have to give you a special reward for all of this...” This comment came from the other Prose, who winked at him as she spoke. This one stepped back to the centre of the ring and took along breath, then made a peculiar motion with both her hands, close to her chest. As she spread them out, the cracked glass under their feet shifted and normalised itself, becoming dull, neutral data panels that formed a solid circle around them. The circle grew by stages until it had covered over the howling dark holes just outside the circle as well, and the strange sound stopped. The Darkmare in the field with them, gave a drawn out static shriek that sounded almost like it was garbled by latency; it seemed pained by the solid terrain now beneath it, but it still couldn't' seem to warp away from it for now, despite trying.

Jazz had a spare moment to raise his own protections, at last, but even as he did so, he had to dodge swiftly as the other remaining shadow virus warped in and tried to slash at him again; with his enhanced speed and reflexes, Jazz was able to avoid the sword stroke, but this one did indeed warp back out to its origin point before anyone could do anything about it.

Despite their massive damage, the two progs finished shaking off the ice and rime that coated them, their broken bodies glowing and crackling. With a loud, exuberant cry of “HUGS!!” the pair crackled and warped; one appeared next to Jazz and the other beside one of the Proses, however, as they entered the field, the red light raked them and both stuttered and wavered. Already badly damaged, the degradation that the field causes seemed to strip the two creatures of whatever was still holding them together and they collapsed on arrival. Their bodies broke down rapidly into data that was drawn back to the edge of the circle and absorbed into it as red strands of light that flowed up to the peak of the dome and once again funnelled themselves down to absorb into the same prose as before, through her back via the small energy wings that glowed.

Ready with his next weapon, Jazz's only real option was the held darkmare in their midst, but with a more destructively spreading weapon to hand in the moment, it seemed momentarily better to pick something else instead of a weapon that would risk hurting him and his companion if he fired it point blank. Across from him, the Prose in the centre opened her eyes again, double checking that the howling holes had been covered properly. Her eyes searched him for injuries, before she stepped close and reached up of his hand again. This time it was the familiar wash of her healing energy, soothing the all-over drain that the dark holes had wracked his body with.

“You still doing okay, Jazz? Just... Tell your operator I'm sorry, Okay? This wasn't planned, I don't want you to get hurt.” She turned back to the remaining foes, though only two were left now and she seemed calmer again.
