Onsen madness.

A tad discontent with the result of his first assault, DragonierMan was soon charging into the fray again armed and dangerous. His powerful blade cleaved through the aquatic viruses multiple times before he stopped and cried out in victory.

Behind him, Maribel decided to join in and fired a shot at the viruses' remains for good measure.

DragonierMan's roar echoed off the walls of the basin as the enemy died around him. Water and datum splashed off his armor and stained his cloak. When it was over, the drenched warrior knelt in the onsen and scooped up the rewards for both navis, dividing the sums between his hands. When it was all squared away, he headed back over to Maribel and handed the navi her rewards.

"He he he. You have some work to catch up still, eh? Perhaps this will help you."

He said as he patted her on the shoulder with the now empty hand. He closed his other hand over his rewards, crushing the datum. Liquid code ran between his fingers as the rewards were sent to Destin's PET. Then he brushed his hands together to clean them.
"Hiii guyyyy." The spacey navi looked up at the large lizard. She then cocked her head to the side and looked like she was intently listening to something for a bit.

After a moment, both Russel and Marry started laughing.
"What?"

DragonierMan cocked an eyebrow at the consistently strange attitude of the other navi. He absently brushed a part of his cloak off him as it clung heavy to his back as he thought of a reply. Destin opened a vid-window again.

"So it seems that your navi is capable enough in battle. What exactly are you trying to figure out besides a relative lack of connection to her surroundings?"
Still chuckling, Russel answers Destin's chat request.

"Heh heh...Ah yeah. That's basically it. I didn't know when I first had her. She just seemed like somewhat of a..umm....space cadet. She'd talk like she was having a conversation with someone that wasn't there. But she's always had an uncanny awareness for someone that doesn't seem to pay attention at all. I didn't understand this until I took her battling.

"That was when I the other Maribel came out. She seems a bit more...combat oriented one might say? And it's not like she concentrates more, but she actually changes. Her voice changes, her demeanor changes - I can't describe it outside of saying she has split personalities. One a spacey, bubbly girl. The other seems to be an actual soldier. Which I think is what is happening. She is supposed to be a military Navi."
Russel quited down, waiting for Destin to digest the information.

Meanwhile, the blue and black aqua navi was chatting at Dragonierman.

"No no~! Really! The lizard look suits him....Noooo~ He looks a little off, but really he's just clever....Uh-huh. No no, look. Most people wouldn't get it, but I do. This'll go well. I swear. He's not a bad guy, I've heard a lot about him. He went by a different name but now he's...uhh..." She looks at the other navi with a concerned face. After a moment she brightens up. "Dragony-man! He's perfectly fine."

She smiles at Dragonierman and gazes at him with eyes of respect.

"And yes, if he slows us down, you can wipe the floor with him."
DragonierMan snorted at the thought that this girl could take him down. Meanwhile Destin thought over the information provided by his old professor. The twin personalities of a navi, one bubbly and one combat, were something he had noticed before in his and other navis. Perhaps it was based off a duality of coding between a navigator program and their combat subroutines. Regardless, it seemed that Maribel might be as similarly unstable as SINN was. He would need to warn Russel.

"As you know my navigator was originally a different navi. Throughout the year I had him, he would occasionally act up, becoming more aggressive and combat oriented. I chalked it up to viral infiltration, as constant wear and tear degraded the programming... but perhaps it was something else entirely, deep in the background, pulling the strings. It is possible that your Maribel has similar anomalous problems."

He threw his hands up.

"But this is all conjecture anyways. I am not at all qualified with the understanding to diagnose these problems. I barely had the skill at keeping my navi's core programming intact when it was overrun and overwritten by constant viral contact."

DragonierMan checked the latching on his boots.
Mulling Destin's words over in his head, Russel shakes his head some, nods some, then shrugs.

"Well, the two personalities seem pretty distinct. And they seem to get along with one another. The other personality is opening up to me some more too, so every now and then she'll talk to me through various...means...Marry seems to be wandering off again." Russel stopped abruptly and focused on his Navi, who apparently had decided that it was time to move forward.

"Com'on Mr. Lizard, stop dragging your heals~" she said as she began to move through the mist blanketed waters.

Maribel and DragonierMan left the onsen area and continued on until they had entered a much drier area. With visibility increased, they had no problem identifying the viruses that stood in their way. The viruses didn't look too keen on giving up the area either, for whatever reason.

Mud Terrain
-Non-Wood Elementals suffer a 1 Rank dodge penalty and a slight movement speed penalty on this terrain.
-Non-Wood Elemental Navis and Viruses moving across this terrain have a chance to slip and fall or get stuck in the mud. In either case, it takes 1 move action to get free again.
-This Terrain type automatically satisfies Aqua Boost conditions for Wood Element chip attacks.
-Wood Element attacks change this terrain to Soil.
-Deals Wood Damage + Slow when used w/ Panel Shot.

DragonierMan's spiky armor and aura bristled at the excitement of a new battle, after what seemed like an eternity of standing around. He pushed out his cloak and stood straighter, attempting to make himself look bigger and more menacing.

Destin and DragonierMan had not encountered the Mudfeesh and Heavy viruses before, but they had encountered the Dharmas on at least two occasions. Destin pulled up the terrain information from his PET. He had been interested in the mechanics behind that aspect of Net battles, so Destin had searched and downloaded a primer.

"DragonierMan, use this against those mud viruses."

Destin said a moment later as he slid in a Boomerang1 battlechip. DragonierMan proceeded to pull a three foot wooden boomerang from thin air and grip it fully with a gauntleted hand. Stretching back his arm, DragonierMan tilted the boomerang slightly upward, and then whipped it forward. The navi released the weapon when it was almost vertical, causing the boomerang to slice through the air in a grand arc across the Mudfeesh line. The wind was almost non-existent and did little to impede the twirling wooden blade.

A moment later DragonierMan charged forward, catching the boomerang on its returning arc. His boots clanked on the solid ground as he shouldered his way across the battlefield in his heavy armor. Gripping the boomerang firmly with one hand, his other hand bent the wood until it was straight. He then ducked his head and plowed into the virus horde, attempting to crush or scatter the viruses under his tread.

As he spun around, he lashed out with his wooden blade. He tipped the end of the stick into the water and dragged it across in another sweeping arc. The action was forceful enough to send a spray of water in front of him, sweeping the wave at the enemy. He then readied the stick to parry a counter charge. His grip tightened on the wooden handle. The fire was in his eyes. This was why he was made.

Figuring that it would be better to wait and see how things turn out this time instead of wasting ammunition on shooting corpses, Marry shoulders her rifle and maneuvers into a better position. If anything was still moving after the splashes caused the lizards actions calm, she would be the first to know and she would be ready to put the viruses down.

Summary:
Action 1: Move
[turn splice]
DragonierMan started off by trying to nick all the MudFeesh at once.

It didn't work. Apparently they were very nimble, but he at least got two of them. The survivor decided to bounce on DragonierMan, but the navi's armor took the blow for him before dissolving. Good thing he had another layer.

Mud formed under DragonierMan but he would not be stopped, thanks to the effect of his Floatshoes program. Charging with full force, DragonierMan crashed into the Heavy viruses, crushing them completely, before sending a Wideshot at the Dharmas, who quickly moved out of the way.

Maribel took this time to move to a better sniping position.

Despite DragonierMan's show of force, some of the viruses remained completely unscathed. From her vantage point, the little blue navi raised her rifle. Her eye's flitted between the remaining combatants. She slid a cartridge with a blunted end into the breach of her weapon, never losing her concentration.

"Mud...I hate the mud...I hate the way these things move...It's so Dirty! Creepy!" She squealed a bit as she pulled the trigger, sending the heavy round towards the flopping Feesh that just bounced off of Dragoniers body plating.

As steam billowed up from the barrel of her rifle, she found her new bubbler chip being uploaded to her. Apparently Russel was all for doing as much damage as possible this time. She thought this was a little strange, since usually he's all about being careful. But it's something new to play with, so she slotted it into her buster rifle.

This time, she lined up the Dharmas in her sights. Before firing, she bit her lip in thought for a second, she then started bellowing in a somewhat of a piratey/hip hoppy beat:

"My Cannons always loaded~ Makin' all yo' s[bleep] exploded~"

More singing; More shooting.

The sky was clear that day. A few white, fluffy clouds lazed about in the blue. Moist earth underfoot fought off the continued presence of the baking sun as it was continually churned up by the actions of those who fought on its surface.

DragonierMan roared at the viruses for not dying as he spat flames at them. Null energy spheres blasted forth from his faceplate to torch the air and ground. Over and over again the warrior navi twisted and turned as he raged, stomping across the mud, his feet finding purchase on the ground where a lesser man might slip. He angled each shot to peg the quick viruses, streaming from him like a torrent.

His scales and aura had reasserted themselves as he began his tantrum. The air choked with stifling heat about him as his great white cloak flapped about. Flames licked out from his wounds, cauterizing the flesh and mending the metal. All the while he continued to spit orbs of light and death, shrugging off splashes of mud and iron-hard pucks.

Maribel darted around nimbly while Dragonierman launched his attack at the remaining foes. After a moment of dodging, she decided to add in her own shots, hoping not to hit the raging lizard in the process.

Picking the Mudfeesh as her target, she slips a large, pointed round into her rifle.

She breathed deeply and fired her shot, then quickly went back to moving around the battlefield, ready to take on what skillful survive is left after the volley.

DragonierMan shook the mud off himself like a dog. Then went through the tiring process of checking to see if his armor was on straight. Destin, on the other hand, was delighted in the notification that they had received such a large treasure trove of zenny. Though, there was still much to acquire before the next round of modifications were affordable.

When DragonierMan was satisfied, he turned to Maribel. Noticing her new chip data, he moved closer for a look. Then held out his right hand when he noticed what it was. The holo-image of his MagBomb1 battlechip formed and began to spin slowly in his palm.

"I want that chip."

He said pointing with his left index finger at the MudFlop1.

"I offer this bomb in exchange."

(Trade.)
After the fight, Maribel looked around a bit at the mess caused by the Mudfeesh.

"They're dirrttyyyyy~ All this mud! What an abomination of pristine and clean water." A look of utter disgust crossed her face. She kicked around at the earth around the mud, trying to cover it up an dry it out. As she kicked, the Mudflop1 chip popped out, causing her to be even more revolted. Obviously it had been left behind for her, a final taunting by the dirty and flopping Mudfeesh. In her revulsion, she barely noticed the lizards voice. Turning to him, she saw that Dragonierman was pointing at the chip in her hand while offering another with his other hand.

"Take it!" She shouted as she threw the Mudflop1 chip at the large reptilian Navi while grabbing the MagBomb1 with her other hand.

[edited for grammar]
Time sort of stood still for a moment as the data transferred between the two navis. It seemed like days before they moved again. When they did, they both were holding the others' battlechip, now belonging to them. Destin wasn't even paying attention to the whole exchange, as he was busy planning for how to best use the money to help his navi. DragonierMan smiled as he crammed the data into one of his many belt pouches. He swiveled a bit to scan the area around him.

"So... Want to cause more mayhem?"

He asked Maribel with the same feral grin hidden behind his relatively unadorned faceplate. Maribel had still yet to see the man behind the mask. Of course DragonierMan was referring to deleting viruses and causing general destruction to the surrounding terrain. Something both of them seemed to like doing.
Marry had always wanted to play with bomb chips, so she was quite excited about her trade. Why on earth anyone would want to flop around in the mud was beyond her, so she was also glad to have it out of her hands, lest Russel try to make her use it. She watched Dragonierman seemingly stretch his back before asking if she'd like to continue on their current path.

"Yeah, let's go~ We got this!" Her enthusiasm bubbled over as she danced a bit and made gestures of cheering and flexing.
