    Coming back soon, honest
I know I kinda fell off the map but I've just been busy. Yet another new job, an hour long bus ride to and fro, starting tai chi classes, building up to riding a bicycle there instead (but its 9 miles each way and im out of shape, think I almost sprained a wrist the day I did ride).

Anyway.. Back soon, thats the goal.

RE: The Karate Kid, Part III
The martial artist and martial-arts navi both blink in brief disbelief, from their respective.. perspectives, as they watch the yo-yo blocking the attacks like some kind of magical super shield, at least before it vanishes.

"Whoa, that was pretty cool, Musou", the boy says as he looses his concentration on the fight. Had no idea that would work quite that well.

"I know right? Pretty awesome", the navi said as he scratched the back of his head and grinned sheepishly. As they tend to, a sudden noise snapped him back to the battle at hand.

"AHEM. Forgetting something? There's a freakin' fight going on!" Arteru growled at the tanks, feeling their combined might (probably even their individual might) several times his own. "What the hell did you drag me into? Did you find another super-virus factory like before?!" The wolf catches movement out of the corner of his eye and dares a glance, spotting some of Musou's Swordy 'allies' fighting nearby. He hunkers down and just.. tries not to get blown to pieces. "S-seriously?! What the hell is going on?!"

Musou, taking a fighting stance, faces his opponents once again "Long story, tell you later. Stop everything but those Swordys", he adds.

The wolf, for his part, chooses to focus his attention on the obvious threat and worry about all the Swordys and workers later..

Staying on his toes worked well enough before, why stop right? As his operator passes him a couple battle chips, the navi darts over towards the Beetank he heavily injured earlier and raises both hands, palms outward towards the virus. Energy builds as chip data flows through him and the navi interprets the data as a double helping of volatile energy balls; the first is smaller and comes in a rapid tripple-shot; the second was aimed at a target behind the Beetank (at least from Musou's new location), and fires off a stronger single ball that threatens to detonate in every which way on contact.

    Arteru - Dodge

    1 - Movement (To Beetank EX-A)

    2 - Use Battlechip Vulcan1 (10 + Spread 1 x 3 Shots) @ Beetank EX-A

((I meant as soon as you get hit, your dodge wears off for the rest of the turn, doesn't it? Also no dodge = 4 hits, dodge = 4 misses? I think I'll be dodging more often lol. I got tired of dodging with HighwayMan, a speed type who should have been awesome at dodging.. still getting hit at least 1 or 2x per turn. Must have just been bad dice ))

Kenji watched intently, trying to spot his own navi, despite having a vantage point in a rough third-person over his shoulder.. His thoughts matched his navi's with trying to figure out how to take down so many foes quickly.. The base was bound to go deeper and they couldn't get torn up here.. And this could mean allies! They had to see this through! The boy tapped his chin a moment with an idle finger, looking over the rest of their battle chips, spread on his desk. He narrowed his eyes and raised an eyebrow as he looked over one.. It might be time to try that one. May as well. He slid the chip in and caught the used Invis1 chip as it dropped from the spring-loaded ejection port.

Musou clenches his fists and a realization hits him.. He had forgotten about his SP and that was, frankly, the reason he had come back into ACDC net at all (though finding this fort had reminded him that the place was endless and greatly needed his attention still).

The navi kept light on his feet, staying limber and nimble as he expected to dodge bombs and more bombs, using his heightened senses and strength to spring away suddenly if needed. Despite his fancy footwork, he still wasn't really sure what to do for offense, at least until chip data entered his mind. A look of surprise crossed his face as he thought to himself Really? That one?. None the less, the martial arts navi raised his left arm and his hand seemed to slide into his gi and vanish. In a flash of light it was replaced by a round disk that made it look like he was holding a frisbee flat in his palm. It seemed harmless enough, at least until he resumed his fighting stance and the dish dropped at his side, seemingly tethered to him by a silver string of energy. The navi spun around in place, pivoting his body and twisting at the last moment with a thrust forward, using the momentum to pick up the disk and hurl it directly at the tanks near him. As it rose into the air jagged silvery teeth of energy extended from it and began to make a screeching sound akin to a buzz saw. The blade would travel and hang in the air, or hopefully in the body of a tank virus, spinning and spitting sparks and noise, before returning to him.

He then rose his right hand and let out and called from within him a seed of energy that had fled many battles ago to safety. His companion and young, inexperienced SP, the wolf Arteru... Hopefully to not eat several bomb blasts immediately. That would be, well, awkward.

1 - Dodge Maneuver (at least to counter the loss from yo yo, hopefully)

((The theory was if I spent actions dodging I would defeat them at least 30% slower and take more damage. Besides, as soon as I get hit I loose the bonus, further negating the point of dodging. Unfortunately, these tanks have lots of hp and take a while to burn down.. I also thought teleports/areagrabs had a dodge effect built in?))

Musou gritted his teeth and held out against the multiple blasts.. He thought his leaping around would fake them out but somehow he was wrong.. Was he that much faster than the tanks or did they just wait for his flurry of actions to slow before shooting? This was going to require less wild movements and more intentional evasive maneuvers.. As his mind tries to quickly and go over what he should be doing, a battle chip passes through which seems to be perfect..

The martial artist vanished from sight as the invisibility overtook him, and He took the opportunity to quickly move to a new location, trying to avoid being blasted again. To finish things up, the navi focused his senses, locking them on to his foes and adjusting to the battlefield once again.. Short and simple, perhaps, but this few seconds was for him to try and catch his breath, and it's hard to engage in a flurry of inactivity.

Eliza gave him a bubbly giggle as she exchanged money for goods and smiled as she perked up. Good, let this one just think her a shallow flirt. She already had his displayed inventory memorized anyway and knew what he had behind the counter, for the most part. Maybe one day she would take a shot at cracking his heart, and his safe.

"Thanks, sweety", she said with a saccharine tone that concealed her thoughts. She turned and took her time leaving, putting on a little show. She knew that even dedicated men were men and biology was against them.

With another chime, she was out the door and gone, brisk pace resumed and cigarette heading for her mouth along with a smirk.

The door chime announced a new customer as a sultry woman entered the shop. She glanced around from her vantage point at the door. Was she hesitating to enter a place with unknown security? At any rate, the drop-dead gorgeous blond took in the stock in a couple moments with her piercing ice-blue eyes. She pondered for a moment, adjusting her weight from one foot to the other, the skimpy navy blue leather getup she was wearing creaking and her large bosom announcing it's own entrance. She passed Suitachi a wink and sauntered to the counter.

Apparently the woman had already done here research before hand because she didn't bother browsing any further. Was she just... Casing the joint? Either way her voice almost purred like a cat as she said "Mmmm. Hello there... I'll need, hmm.. Four of your process upgrades". She crossed her arms over her tight stomach and nudged them up slightly, her bosom rising to the summons.

She knew she wasn't going to get a discount or anything, she just loved teasing people, men and women alike, using her body like a weapon.

((It's been awhile, thanks for the reminders. With bash though, sometimes I just like adding it to be flashy though even if it doesn't do anything. As for accuracy, I thought it was fine, using aim actions to line up multiple foes and/or get a better angle on an attack? Or would that be a movement, instead? Positioning?))

Musou winces, digging into the wall more as the Kabutank blasts washes over him, the Beetank bomb, on the other hand, knocks him loose, landing down to the floor in a crouch. The navi looks up at the Beetanks, noting himself worse for the wear with only a fraction of their attacks successful. These things were dangerous.

Kenji silently passes his navi another battlechip, the boy hates to see Musou get blown up and knocked around but sadly it's becoming pretty routine by now. Besides, he knows better than to panic since he is the only support his navi, friend and ally has.

As chip data floods his mind, Musou pauses a moment to draw ambient data into himself, using his own chi to hold it several inches in front of himself, as an armor. He knew though, that like just moments ago, it would be mobility that kept him most safe. The tanks, after all only had to get close. Wasn't there some kind of saying in Electopia about that? Something about hand grenades and.. Something?

The navi let the thought go and his mind clear as green energy once again sprouted from his back. He knew that the tanks had just seen this moments before, so he would have to do something to mix things up if he had any hope of striking anything, let alone avoiding blasts. To that end, as his wings became solid and he began to lift off the ground, he suddenly made eye contact with one of the tanks, in a moment a piercing stare with unknown intention. And then he simply wasn't there anymore.

Musou had vanished from the spot, appearing behind his target and spun around in place for a moment, snapping not jus ta kick, but a chi-loaded kick at the tank's back, energy leaping along his leg like golden electricity. Hopefully it would hit, but he knew better than most how these tanks had armor plating here and there, especially the beefed up versions.

His senses shifted along with his location, attuning quickly. Though his sixth sense was dulled from the recent flood of data and energy that he used to repair himself, his perception was alert and alive. From his new position the navi flipped backwards in the air, his wings flapping once to bring him up and again with a powerful thrust as he became a green blur and cut across the battlefield like a laser, a different direction than where he started. Had to keep these things off guard as best he could, but he was quickly running out of mobility tools, he would have to come up with something else fast..

Musou rushes into the weapons factory, along with the Swords , taking a moment to adjust his senses to the new sights, sounds and smells. An.. Arms factory? With Metool workers? For all those people out there that said viruses were just mindless beasts they needed to see this stuff. But would it wind up being yet another highly-sensitive piece of info the Net Police would ask him not to release?

"S-Sensei, are you getting this? What the heck's going on?", the navi asks to no one in particular. A voice seemingly coming from over his shoulder replies, however "Yeah, I'm taking some screenshots.. I'm not sure how safe people would feel if they knew that right here in our little net something like this is going on.."

The navi gritted his teeth and clenched his fists as he saw the Swordsy begin to engage, things were heating up fast. "I mean, they are obviously making weapons here but.. Why? To what end? Is it related to the factory we broke up before? A-and, what is these guys' part in all this?" The navi looks over to the Swordys, wondering their intentions. He had rather blindly agreed to help them, seeking allies and now.. Well he would have to consider the ramifications later, more of those 'blasted' tanks were coming his way.

From his navi's viewpoint, Kenji takes a few screenshots, noting the Metools at work, the tanks being built, and the battle between the workers and the Swordys about to begins. He shook his head as he saw tanks break off and head towards Musou. "Seems the longer we stick around ACDC, the more we find is going on behind the scenes, Musou. I wonder how many locals have just spent a few minutes around here and moved on.. They would have no idea. I'm starting to think your whole battle career could be in this place.." The boy moves to slide in his navi's favorite battle chips without even asking.

The martial arts navi frowned as he sized up the tanks.. He was going to have to keep on his feet or he would be blown to pieces. And not just nimble dodging either, it was time to fly across the battlefield. Chip data entered his mind as he began to give thought to the idea that the fight to free ACDC from corruption and make it safe was an impossible one, a never ending war with no end. But that was why he needed to gather allies and train a militia. If the net could defend it's self then peace could be had. Even here, Swordys were trying to take down a tank factory. He didn't need to know why, it was good enough that it was happening.

Green energy sprouted from the navi's back as wings began to form from ambient data. He took only a moment to attune himself to his foes and the battlefield, tracking their movements and energy with his mind's eye. Musou lunged forwards suddenly as the scattered energy on his back solidified. Metalic green wings reflected the room's lights about wildly as they moved. His speed increased as his feet left the ground and the navi seemed to only become a green flash of light, aimed at a group of the tanks!

But he had fought these viruses often enough to know that this alone wouldn't cut it, and more importantly than damaging all of his foes was reducing their numbers, and thus the number of bombs and blasts incoming towards him, right now. Apparently his operator had been thinking the same thing as additional chip data flooded his mind.

The navi held a hand behind him as he began to slow and regain his form. Energy built within him as he approached a wall and did a front-flip in mid air, bringing his feet towards the wall and using what was left of his forward momentum to press himself against it, almost crouching sideways. More energy built in him, passing to his left hand as his right hand reached out and the melee type literally grabbed the wall, crushing material and leaving gouges the shapes of his fingers to get a grip.

Musou raised his face towards the group of tanks he had charged and extended his left hand as his powerful shoulder muscles tensed and the fingers of his right hand locked into place. Energy began to fly wildly at the tanks, blast after blast, blowing up random debris where they missed, as the navi slid down the wall and touched down to the floor.

    Yes!

The navi breathes a deep sigh as the battle ends abruptly and returns the thumbs up with a grin.. Until he realizes that things have only just begun. He had just taken out the outer turrets while the Swordys held off the army, for the most part. It was a fortress and who knows what was inside? Sounded like adventure!

RE: Where has the Mori gone.
I'm sorry to hear what's going on Mori but I gotta say your taking it well. I've had times in my life where I've been overwhelmed with stress and depression and just felt like I couldn't go on. My usual response was to just do nothing. I read books, played games, did anything but face reality. Of course I also just had myself to worry about, with no family to live with or look after. I've seen people in unreasonable situations and it baffles me how they manage to even wake up each day with their lives the way they are and so far everyone I've asked says they do it because they have to. They have no choice and do it for their selves, their family, their beliefs, anything really.

If I didn't have such a good friend in Fenrir/Gyro, I probably wouldn't still be alive and he has pretty much accepted me into his family, as have his relatives over the years. Now that he is married and they have had kid #2, while both working, I try to help how I can. I have a job again after 3 years of being unemployed and am getting things together.

Sorry to go on about myself in your thread, but i think its pretty amazing how you can stay motivated through what's happening around you and I totally wish you the best. Its always easier said than done but try to not let things get you down. Depression can be a long and terrible road with dead ends and pitfalls and in the end it just goes in circles. Its always easier to feel sorry for yourself than do anything about it. I hope the 3 of you can keep each other in good spirits because I wouldn't be that surprised if at least one of you gets down about what's going on. Its only natural and just stick together, you guys should be fine as long as you have each other.

Mmmkay I believe I'm back. 6 months was too long to not write for me. I'm wasting creativity playing games which spoon feed you entertainment. It was nice to veg out and get used to working again. Health has improved, 20 - 25 lbs flew off and my mood has improved quite a bit now that I have some (small) reason to wake up each day. A good breakfast does wonders too. At any rate I think ill take this opportunity to pull the ol' "a year later" in my characters' stories. That should help freshen things up. Ill post again when the mood strikes me but I'm back and here and glad to see ya all again!

Sometimes I think it isn't money that makes the "world go around", it's ignorance and denial. After all, nothing can be wrong right? The news said so. Or someone that someone else knows read a newspaper and said things were looking positive.

Yeah, it's my understanding that in America it's not even legal to just run out in the woods somewhere and live completely alone in a cabin of your making, off of the land. After all, any dwelling has to be up to code, all property has to be correctly zoned and taxed and every American that still claims their citizenship is required to fill out tax forms and pay taxes. Even. If. They. Live. Somewhere. Else. In. The. World. >:(

RE: Taking it easy for awhile
Hi everyone, again. Another update, though a less pleasant one.

So I'm still working and everything, and have gotten over the physical strain and such. I should be able to come back soon but currently I'm enjoying the mind-numbing distractions a few games are providing, like Towns, Marvel Heroes, Minecraft, etc.

The reason being my manager informed me that he changed his mind on the full time position. Apparently he had been putting it off for one reason or another "making sure you are where we want you to be, on training" he liked to say. Well the company I work for, which is part of a much larger company (and thus is in no danger of disappearing), turned in a nice fat loss for their last fiscal quarter. This apparently means they are not looking to hire or promote anyone else to full time positions unless they are going into management or something otherwise corporate.

It was kind of like a slap in the face, when I told him happily I had saved up enough to get myself a nice shiny cell phone (took a month of saving but I should have it today). Previously "getting a hold of me" had been one of the "problems" he wanted to work on in order to discuss further promotion, so this should have been the last hurdle.

But he said ominously "Don't get your hopes up on that full-time thing". Confused, I asked him what he meant (since he had been talking about it and, so I thought, confirmed my promotion for over a month now), he told me of the company's loss, and that even if our store was in the green, we were just one store among many. He said there was no way, with their loss, that corporate would approve of my promotion.

To make matters worse, an incremental legislation, affectionately dubbed "Obama Care", was passed a while back and we are seeing one of it's changes very soon. Namely, that a company shall provide healthcare to all of it's full-time employees, or anyone whom works at least 30 hours. For each instance an employee gets at least 30 hours in a work week and they are not receiving such a benefit, the employer will be fined 2000 dollars.

What this means is that corporate America, on average, is simply doing away with all the full-time positions they can, and firing anyone on the spot that goes over 30 hours in a work week. Some companies won't even let a part-time person get over 20 hours, just to be safe. For anyone (ie the people who passed the bill) that is full time already, this honestly has no effect. But companies have been cutting back on full-time positions for a long time now because you can pay 2 part-time people the same as a single full-time person to do a job but not have to pay them any kind of benefits, insurance, vacation time, etc.

Although I feel I have been toyed with by my company, it has become my understanding that this kind of treatment is routine now around my country. Short of suddenly getting a masters degree from some school, then clawing my way past the more-favored people (some call them "good ol' boys, meaning like only employes like even if they aren't qualified at all) to the top of someone's candidate pool, I'm stuck with part-time. The reality is I may wind up, along with a good chunk of Americans, working 2 or 3 jobs to get by. To say the least, it's not ideal.

Anyway, sorry about the long-winded complaint but I needed to vent. I might be back soon, I might not, I'm getting angry just thinking of all this and it's clouding my judgement and stifling my creativity.

RE: Taking it easy for awhile
Another update: Though there are plenty of hours to go around at my new job, most people end up just getting 30 to 40 hours while still being classified as 'part timers'. I'd imagine that the company does it to cut down on paying for benefits and having to fill people's schedules. But... Due to either luck, hard work, or a bit of both, I've already been granted one of the coveted full-time positions. Though it's not really more hours for me, it's more responsibility, more expectations and benefits. I can't wait for my insurance and such to kick in (it's been years since I've had a medical check-up or had my teeth looked over/cleaned by a dentist, bleh).

I've been walking to and from work for both my health and a lack of transportation, it's about 2 miles and I've gained back quite a bit of the 'ol endurance in the last few weeks. I have the walk down to about 30 min and don't even really feel it anymore so I'm trying to pick up the pace and get in even better shape. I'm trying to control what I eat at least a little, and trying to trim my sleeping times of "whenever" down to 7 hours.

Long story short, I've been promoted already and am doing what I can to get in better shape and be healthier. I hope all this improvement, once I'm settled into the changes, will give me lots of energy and finally turn back on the creative juices.

By the way, I really appreciate everyone's words of enthusiasm. You guys (and my roommates) are about the only ones to give me any praise or tips. Most people, I suppose, just see my position in the mini-market as being low-paying and inglorious. They have no idea what this job means to me.

An update on myself, for anyone who cares.

After being unemployed for far longer than I'd like to admit, I finally started working again. A simple little job at a mini market but for my lazy and out-of-shape self, it's exhausting. Soreness and torn muscles to the point of limping and straining to remain upright is not fun. More importantly, I'm slowly getting back into shape, getting a regular sleep schedule and hurting less and less each week.

Hopefully here soon I'll be bursting with energy, nominally motivated and able to pick up writing on here again. This place always has been and still is awesome, woo!

    Taking it easy for awhile
I've been pretty on-and-off for the last couple months, and I certainly don't plan on leaving but I think I need to take a break for awhile. I've been having a real block in my creativity and I just don't feel like I can, or need to, really express myself in creative writing. It would be stiff and boring if I tried (not to mention probably get me so many bad-rp penalties I'd get Musou/Vixen killed). I'm sure all of you have had some time where you've just stared at a screen, mind blank and gone 'huh'. I've been doing that a lot lately.

Any way, I'll be back soon, when the block is gone and the mood strikes me again. I don't plan on being away long but in the mean time thanks everyone for modding for me, especially AzureInk lately, and for putting up with me.

RE: The Karate Kid, Part III
Musou blinks and looks about as the blasts and waves dance by him. He frowns and holds his arms out, exclaiming in indignation "Oh come on! I dodge and weave about and you light me up like a candle. I finally sit still and you cant hit me?" Despite his frustration, the navi isn't going to wait about for a response nor complain too loudly about his good luck any further.

He turns his glare to the Kabutank, as he has had quit enough of that annoying bomb-blasting-and-fleeing stuff kiting him about. He decides it's in his best interest to take it out once and for all. To that end the martial arts navi raises his jian and darts at the virus, quickly closing distance with it and taking aim with a quick series of sword slashes.

To a trained eye he is, once again, swinging the blade with far more brute force than finesse, as the jian is meant to be wielded. Of course, their is always something to be said of brute force. Adding to the overall effect, the navi yells as he swings rapidly "Orra orrraa!", and at some point an additional charge of golden energy dances along the blade, lending penetrating power as it leaps about the area like electricity before dissipating into the ground.

RE: The Intentional Virus Non-Deletion Club
Musou does stuff like this all the time. In fact, it's happened so often that it's affected his personality and goals in the net. He has begun to actively recruit viruses, navis, humans, anyone really that will band together into a 'net militia', if you will. He knows some of the net denizens/viruses don't really want to fight and often do it out of self-defense.

I think my biggest scenarios to date were when Musou befriended a group of viruses outside a kind of ruins on the net. They went in there together and explored as a group. They fought together against possessed and corrupt viruses inside and it finished with Musou taking on a big scarey thing out of a sarcophagus while the viruses held off the thing's backup for me. In the end they all shook hands and parted as friends.

More than once he has extended his hand in peace to viruses he encountered and they all just peacefully, or awkwardly at least, parted ways.

More recently he bumped into a group of swordys marching in formation, led by a captain swordy. Impressed at their organization and discipline, he offered to help them. And became the spearhead of their attack on a nearby fortress full of their enemies! The swordys are clashing in the fields with tons of metools and defenders while Musou is taking out the main defenders at the front gate. If I would log on more often I'd be done with it by now, heh.

The idea is, the net will always be bubbling over with chaos because it's a lawless 'wild west', and if he helps organize them more peaceful-minded types the net can defend and regulate them selves without desperate need of police, leadership from a bittersweet mafia or any mob of large-breasted women led by a shogun. Ok, that last one could be awesome actually. I know from the standpoint of a roleplaying game there will need to be limitless baddies to bust, but his dream evolved from a realistic (if naive) desire for peace on the net.
